Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Israel reached the promised land in about a year and four months; the forty years came from complaining. The message draws steps to success from Moses’ charge to Joshua: God is with you, be strong in the Lord, be courageous like Moses, do not fear, do not be dismayed, go with Christ’s authority, and meditate on the word day and night.
How long did Israel take to reach the promised land?
Short answer: About a year and four months: from Egypt to Canaan, plus 40 days spying out the land; it doesn’t take your whole life.
▶ 0:12 Uh we’re going to get in the word this morning there’s some handouts if you’d like to follow along this is uh it’s nice because you can just take it home you can pray with it pray over it and it really helps because you’re going to hear it today but if you go and review it again uh you give you have time to go at your pace and let that word sink into you and uh permeate your spirit which is very important it’s. Powerful we want to talk about this morning. Winning in our Christian life winning at the Christian life and uh we want to be uh prosperous and successful in our goals in growing in our walk with Christ amen. In Numbers chapter 10 verse 11 it says on the 20th day the second month of the second year and I’m just pointing this out because uh Israel had just come out of Egypt they were delivered they remember they were enslaved and God brought 10 plagues and uh they were brought out of Egypt no longer slaves but now they’re traveling in the wilderness and it’s been a year and two months okay a year two months and 20 days so February the 20th.
▶ 1:40 If we want to go there but I’m sure the calendar’s I don’t want to go there uh Numbers 13:25 at the end of 40 days they returned from exploring the land so uh after a year and two months they come to the Canaan land the the promised land that God had is bringing them to the land flowing with milk and honey right so God is leading them to the wilderness with the cloud and he’s brought them to Canaan land and when they get there God says okay select some people to go spy out the land so they spend 40 days spying out the land and they come. Back after 40 days so now they’re in the tank for a year and four months okay cu 10 days plus 20 is 30 and another 30 days is another month right so we’re a year and four months so in a year and a half they went uh a little under a year and a half they went from Egypt to the promised land and we want to point out that it doesn’t take your whole life to obtain and possess God’s.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 10:11 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony.
— Numbers 10:11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:12Numbers 13:25 (NKJV)
And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.
— Numbers 13:25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:40Does God want to do it quickly?
Short answer: Yes; Joshua and Caleb trusted Him, and the Red Sea deliverance happened that day.
▶ 2:55 Promises God has a goal for you it’s the promised land and you can get there it doesn’t take a long time you don’t need to spend your whole life uh waiting to possess what God has promised you uh the new covenant I have brought up many times you don’t have to wait a lifetime for God to give you a new heart to put his spirit into you you don’t have to wait a lifetime for him to cause you to walk in his ways you can get that stuff in a short period God is not on a long schedule in this instance in your individual life he wants to work as quickly as you’re willing to respond all right and that’s very important we uh if you’re on the long schedule with God that is your choice and you don’t have to it doesn’t have to be that way you can move with God at a quick pace he can change you he can change your heart at a quick pace you can know him at a quick pace it says all shall know me from the least to the greatest you can begin to separate yourself he says I will be their God and they will be my people you can begin that you don’t have to wait numbers chapter 14: 6 Joshua and Caleb said this the land is exceedingly good do not rebel against the Lord do not be afraid of the people of the land.
▶ 4:22 Uh Joshua and Caleb remember they had a different spirit they had a different approach to God they didn’t complain they didn’t come at God saying why have you done all this you’re a stinky God I don’t like you. Uh they had trust and faith that God would bring about the promise he made them and that’s very important in your life God wants to he has made a promise a new covenant with you that he’s going to bring this stuff about in your life he’s going to change your heart he’s going to give you a new spirit he’s going to do all these things for you and it may not happen right away and it may take some uh you may have some opposition getting there your own self may oppose you but if you put your trust keep heading toward it God will bring you to that place amen Romans 1620 the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with.
▶ 5:33 You and I’m underlining soon here because God wants to do it quickly all right the when Egypt came and tried to bring uh Israel under bondage again how long did it take for God to wipe them out in the red sea how long did it take it took it happened that day it wasn’t a long drawn out thing God doesn’t God doesn’t want to draw this battle with Satan in your life out okay he wants to destroy him in your life and the next thing you’re going to have to face is the fight that you have with your flesh amen and you’re going to have to face that fight a long. Time so he wants to make changes in your life quickly he’s waiting on you and you are uh.
Why forty years?
Short answer: They argued and complained, so God humbled and tested them; man lives by every word and the Lord chastens as a father.
▶ 6:30 You don’t have to wait forever on God Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 1 God led you all the way these 40 years in the wilderness so what happened they got there in a year and a half they came to the promised land and then they started to argue and complain they said oh God’s promise is not true God is a fake God this God I don’t know why I even came here I don’t know why with this people I don’t know why I follow this God in the desert this cloud you know forget this get me out of here t go back so that’s what was coming out of the mountain and they’re also worshiping other gods while they’re in the desert okay so you know God is he’s a little frustrated with these. Guys I don’t want to be in that place do you want to be in that place or God’s. Frustrated so he leads them their punishment was to be led through the wilderness 40 years and he did it to humble them to test them to know what was in their heart and God knows what’s in your heart he wants you to know what’s in your heart so that you can change it so you can uh.
▶ 7:47 Repent from it whether you would keep his commandments or not that he might make you know that man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord and man chastens his son so the Lord chastens you so God is bringing him through this correction because he is trying to get them to be humble because they weren’t humble and God is asking that today are you humble or are you proud do you hold your uh your beliefs higher than God’s that’s pride your your pride you have pride in what you believe over what God. Says do you know what is in your heart God uh you know that’s why we come to the altar that’s why you come and pray and bow before God you you want God to search out your heart like it says in the Psalms as David prayed search my heart oh God right we want our hearts to be right toward our God whether you keep his commandments our do our hearts and our lives our choices are we keeping and following his commandments and the difference between the commandment and a demand is that people make demands all the time right I make demands here and there I can make demands on you but it’s a demand and the difference is a command the person saying it commanding it has.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 8:2-5 (NKJV)
And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.
— Deuteronomy 8:2-5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:30Who has authority over your life?
Short answer: Not him, but God; His words are commands, and He chastens because He loves us.
▶ 9:17 Authority okay I have no authority over your life but God does God has authority over every one of us and that’s why when things come down from God they are commands and we’ve got to follow. Them he loves us that’s why he’s chastening us but it’s important that we do not live a lifetime of correction you don’t want to live a lifetime of correction God is wanting you to respond to repent and to follow. Him it’s not what God wants for you he doesn’t want to live to have you in a lifetime of correction he’s wanting you to repent and turn and to move on in God so what are these steps to success what are these steps to having a prosperous uh path uh.
What is step one?
Short answer: God goes with you: I am with you always; God delivered Paul and Silas.
▶ 10:30 We we understand where Israel was and this. Is they’re they’re coming to the Canaan land and they have to decide they have uh they’re going to possess the land okay Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 1 Moses went and spoke these words to all of Israel so the first thing we got to understand before the steps is that the message that God has is for every one of us it’s not just for the pastor it’s not just for the rich person it’s not just for a certain ethnic certain color of skin it’s for every one as the new covenant says all shall know me from the least to the greatest every one of us this word and this message is for all of us his correction is for all of us okay that’s very important Deuteronomy 31:8 the Lord will be with you he will not leave you nor forsake you in Matthew 28:20 Jesus confirms this and he says surely I am with you always to the very end of the age the Lord in the Old Testament and Jesus they’re the same person God almighty in the Old Testament he’s the same person as uh Jesus in the New Testament Jesus Christ came in the flesh he is God in the flesh his name is emmanuel.
▶ 11:59 God with. Us surely I am with you always to the very end Acts chapter 16:25 as we uh heard already Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and suddenly there was a great violent earthquake and so God brought about deliverance he this this story just um is an example of God being with his disciples and his apostles God God is with you it’s very important.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 31:1-6 (NKJV)
Then Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel. And he said to them: “I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also the LORD has said to me, ‘You shall not cross over this Jordan.’ The LORD your God Himself crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua himself crosses over before you, just as the LORD has said. And the LORD will do to them as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites and their land, when He destroyed them. The LORD will give them over to you, that you may do to them according to every commandment which I have commanded you. Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
— Deuteronomy 31:1-6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:30Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
— Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:59Acts 16:25-26 (NKJV)
But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
— Acts 16:25-26 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:59What is step two?
Short answer: Be strong in the Lord; I can do all things through Him; the joy of the Lord is your strength, and praise silences the enemy.
▶ 12:33 Number two Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 7 says be strong in Ephesians chapter 6:10 it says be strong in the Lord and in his mighty. Power it’s hard when someone always has to put you back together if you’re always falling apart you have and have no strength str within you that’s not what God wants for you if you if you have the Lord if you say you have him he’s saying that he has strength for you be strong in the Lord in his mighty power Christ has power he has strength and it’s available for you if you’re falling apart if you can’t handle life that is not God has a solution for you Psalms chap 28:7 the Lord is my strength and this is an easy scripture to quote but if we are going and finding strength elsewhere and having to go and and get uh all kinds of counseling and we reject and refuse the the Lord who is our strength who will give us.
▶ 13:53 Strength we’re missing out on his solution my shield my heart trusts in him and he helps me my heart leaps for joy and with him and with my song I praise him so the Lord will give us strength we put our trust in him and he can make our heart leap for joy how many know when you touch Jesus when you experience Christ there is a good feeling your heart is happy it’s a wonderful feeling it’s it’s hard to explain even I remember when I was 12 and met Christ for the first time for real I just wow it was I it was so special it was an experience it was love it was peace it was it was everything and that’s what Jesus does and when you touch that source of life it can bring you out of your mindset it can bring you out of your your whatever is going on in your mind and you can be strong in him.
▶ 14:59 Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who gives me strength it’s so. Important that we lean on Christ for our strength the world today I would question and say are we leaning on Christ for our strength is the church world today leaning on Christ for our strength because that’s what the scriptures say he has you know Jesus didn’t walk around well you got to get the strength somewhere else I don’t have it no he’s got. It and if you’re not getting it from him it’s available to you and it’s a solution you can have in your life nehemiah 8 verse1 do not grieve oh do not grieve I was told I have to grieve somebody’s like did you grieve about this grieve about what what is what do you mean I have to.
▶ 15:55 Grieve for the joy of the Lord is your strength I can’t I got kids and I got a race you know I they can’t be walking into dad. Dad’s you I gotta take him to school I gotta provide I gotta work I gotta do this I gotta you know I got I don’t have time to. Grieve I need some strength I need some joy I need a smile on my face I got to love my kids when they walk on the door I got to be a a good. Parent and soon I got to be a good. Spouse. Amen and we need our strength from.
▶ 16:39 Somewhere out of the m mouth of babies and nursing infants you have ordained strength because of your enemies that you may silence the enemy and the avenger I encourage you this morning when you go to church it’s not just to hear the songs fly through the room and oh it’s so such nice music no it is opportunity for you to become strong it’s an opportunity for you to silence and still and stop and destroy beat back the enemy in your life and when you walk into church and you are hands down sitting down letting God’s worship just fly by and not participating you’re missing out on strength that you can have in your life and you don’t have to wait till Sunday you can do it during the week on your own on your knees with God and if you don’t know what to pray if you don’t know what to praise it’s already been written David he knew what he learned what to pray and praise and you can read and pray and praise what he wrote and after you read all through that maybe the second time through the third time through the Psalms you’ll be like hey I got a song of my own I’ve got a prayer of my own but you can read the ones that are already written they’re powerful.
▶ 18:00 So I encourage. You God says we can be what. Strong and we he has strength to offer us he has a source of strength it’s even one of the spirits of the Lord as we learned a couple weeks ago that of the seven spirits one is the spirit of what might strength. Amen Deuteronomy 31:7 be. Courageous in Hebrews chapter 11 it’s known as the faith chapter Paul is writing about all these people in the Bible and he’s talking about how their faith uh how faith is so important in their lives and one of them is. Moses at the end of this at the end of the chapter Paul says you know I don’t have time to talk about the faith of David I don’t got time to talk about the faith of sam I got time to talk about all these examples of these people in the Bible that were.

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
— Psalm 8:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:39What is step three?
Short answer: Be courageous like Moses, who refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter and chose mistreatment with God’s people over the pleasures of sin.
▶ 19:07 Courageous Hebrews chapter 11:24 Moses was courageous he refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s. Daughter uh if you don’t know Moses was put into the river the nile river and he floated by his mother because he didn’t she didn’t want him to die she loved him she had. Faith and uh he floated down to Pharaoh’s daughter Pharaoh’s daughter pulled him out of the water called him Moses he grew up he knew who he was he knew he wasn’t part he knew he wasn’t uh Pharaoh’s daughter’s real child and he said you know I know that you guys have riches I know that I can have status here I know that I can be in charge and I can be. Wonderful but I’m going to go and identify and be with those slaves down.
▶ 20:01 There the people that you’re ruling. Over why because they’re the people of God somewhere. Moses was. Courageous and he said you know I’m not gna. Just go along with you guys I’m not going to go along with your sinful practices your sinful lifestyle I’m going to go and follow my God he chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin you know I the scriptures say it so powerfully he chose to be mistreated along with the people of God can you believe that what courage that’s. Courageous he regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt because he was looking ahead to his reward it’s very important for us not to be shortsighted we need to look ahead to our reward in heaven remember the scriptures say Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you in my house there are many mansions and I go to prepare a place for you God as a reward for his people.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 11:24-26 (NKJV)
By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
— Hebrews 11:24-26 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:07John 14:2 (NKJV)
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
— John 14:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:01What is step four?
Short answer: Do not fear: take courage, it is I; Peter walked on water. God gave us power, love and a sound mind.
▶ 21:25 And you have to make a choice are you going to be his people in his kingdom or you going to live in the kingdom of darkness Deuteronomy 31:6 step four do not. Fear in Matthew chapter 14:26 the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water and they were what. Terrified shaken in their shoes shaken in their boots they were they were you know can you can you believe that on the boat can you imagine them like shaking what is that oh my God.
▶ 22:06 Would I maybe I would be shaking Jesus said take courage it is I do not be. Afraid and uh there’s a lot more to this story you can go read it later but Peter ends up walking on the water he said it says he walked on the water and came toward Jesus but when he saw the wind he was af afraid and began to sink and he cried Lord save me and Jesus said why did you doubt you know there’s 11 more disciples in the boat but Peter was on the water you know he sank yeah but where were the other 11 you know at least he went out in the water and you know after Jesus pulled them up they walked on the water back to the boat and Peter was walking on the water again.
▶ 23:00 So it’s not like you know if you doubt God just gives up on you no he’ll pull you back up and you keep walking with him but the point is we can’t be afraid to follow Jesus Christ some of us don’t like change some of us may have the fear oh my gosh God’s going to do this in my life God I’m afraid that that all this stu bad stuff’s going to happen if I have to follow Jesus I got to follow Jesus what is what is he going to do what is he going to make me. Do you don’t have to be afraid you don’t have to be afraid of following. Christ second Timothy 17 for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power of love and a sound mind this is one of the scriptures I tell my children when they tell me I can’t do it I’m not I can’t I can’t I’m just not what does God.
▶ 24:04 Say I have not given. You a spirit of give up I’ve given you a spirit of power of love and I’ve given you a sound mind amen we can’t be afraid to follow him we can’t be afraid to move on in Christ and grow in Christ we can’t be afraid to say what he says. Or to listen to what he says step number five Deuteronomy 3. 31:6 nor be afraid of them so first of all you cannot be afraid in general can’t be afraid to follow Christ and now you don’t you can’t be afraid of them and uh Moses or God here he talking about Canaan he’s talking about the people in Canaan they were giants when they spied out the land they found out these guys are giants they’re too big they’re too great for us no you don’t be afraid of them.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
— Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 21:25Matthew 14:26-31 (NKJV)
And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
— Matthew 14:26-31 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 21:252 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 24:04What did Moses tell terrified Israel?
Short answer: Do not be afraid; stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord; He will fight for you.
▶ 25:05 Exodus 14:10 as Pharaoh approached the Israelites were what. Terrified Moses said do not be afraid stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today the Egyptians you see today you will never see again the Lord will fight for you you you need only to be still so. Important you know you may come from a background of you got gang members you. Know they have a much different situation when I was a kid I wasn’t afraid of my for my life to follow God but you know depending on where you’re coming from you might have some serious fears the gang’s going to come after me the you know all of these things things but God is saying you don’t need to be afraid of them you don’t need to be afraid of your past life you don’t need to be your afraid of your past ties with the kingdom of darkness you can be courageous you don’t need to be afraid of Satan you don’t need to be.
Scripture in this part
Exodus 14:10-14 (NKJV)
And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
— Exodus 14:10-14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:05Should we fear the world’s arguments?
Short answer: No; Peter faced opposition. Don’t respect their message over God’s.
▶ 26:15 Afraid of them. Amen we can overcome. Acts chapter 5:28 so not only not being afraid of your past but also uh looking forward there’s opposition in overcoming there’s opposition in speaking the truth as Peter found out in Acts 5:28 uh the Jews the synagogue said to him said to Peter did we not command you that you should not teach in Jesus’s name. And behold you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man’s blood Jesus’s blood upon us yes we’d love for the blood to come upon you that’s what you need you need Jesus blood no uh the blame but Peter responded and he said we ought to obey God rather than men.
▶ 27:19 And we can’t be afraid of the world’s morals or immorality we can’t be afraid of their arguments we can’t respect their message over God’s message we. Can’t we’ve got to have the fear of God. First that is the greatest thing we can do is love God fear respect honor above our family and friends above the world we’ve got to not fear the world but fear who. God that’s what the scriptures say all throughout Proverbs the fear of the Lord is depart from evil the fear of the Lord is a spirit of the Lord we need that fear of God in. Us.
Scripture in this part
Acts 5:28-29 (NKJV)
saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
— Acts 5:28-29 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:15What is step six?
Short answer: Do not be dismayed: lift up your heads, O you gates, and the King of glory will come in.
▶ 28:12 Amen number six Deuteronomy 31:8 neither be dismayed discouraged depressed cast down and this uh he was speaking to Joshua he’s speaking to a leader here don’t be dismayed it’s it’s easy to get cast down all of a sudden things come problems happen things happen people say things and you you just like oh my gosh you. Get you get. Discouraged and then I’m talking all this this is for me you know I’m sitting right there and I’m talking to that guy discouraged dismayed being afraid being afraid of them no you can’t be like that michael get up.
▶ 29:03 Lift up your heads oh you gates be lifted up you everlasting doors and the king of glory shall come in we don’t need to live a life of discouragement and depression and being cast down when the king of glory comes in there you don’t have any of that he’s going to wipe that out he is the king of glory the long the Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in battle when you have that guy entering into you you’re you’re going to be strong Psalms 4211 why are you in despair why are you cast down oh my soul why are you uh disqui or restless within wait for God for I will again praise him for the help of his presence my God I like this version because it said the help of his presence his presence when he comes it makes a big difference his presence when you meet with God and you can meet him at home when you meet with God on Sunday morning it is it changes you it can change your mood it can change your mindset.
▶ 30:12 And we need that the Bible says the renewing of your mind the Bible says also that we’re going to have tribulation uh in this life you’re going to have tribulation and trouble when you walk out and go home there’s going to be trouble there going to be trouble this week but you can be renewed and you can come before his presence and you don’t you can have all these solutions to get you back in right relationship with God and also not being. Dismayed but being strong having hope. Amen Acts 18 verse5 Paul faced opposition preach preaching to the Jews in Corinth and when he preached to them they were they were upset and they’re like you need to go away get out of here we don’t want to hear you anymore and Paul said you know fine forget you I’m going to take my message to the Gentiles I’m not speaking to you your blood is on on your you know your blood is on your head you rejected the message see it that was Paul’s response the Lord comes to him in the night.

— Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 28:12Psalm 24:7 (NKJV)
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.
— Psalm 24:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 29:03What did God tell Paul in Corinth?
Short answer: Do not be afraid, speak; I have many people in this city. We have authority to go, make disciples, baptize and teach.
▶ 31:28 to Paul he says do not be afraid speak do not keep silent for I am with you no one will attack you to hurt you I have many people in this city and he continued there a year and six months teaching the word of God among them you know Paul he got a little discouraged in that moment right he’s like fine forget it I don’t want to talk to you. Either but Christ comes back and he reminds him hey I’m in charge. And I want you to keep speaking and I want you to keep silent and uh it’s important for us to have a hearing ear amen and he continued there a year and six months teaching the word of God teaching the word of God in Hebrews it says the word of God is living and powerful sharper than any two-edged sword we need the word of God and it’s not just the scriptures we need life in the scriptures we need a living word.
▶ 32:30 Amen and Paul his teaching uh had an impact on Corinth it’s very important that we remember that teaching the word of God is. Powerful and we need to pray for a word that is transformative to. People we can’t just get up and open up Genesis 1 and say okay Genesis 1 let there be light we want a living. Word number step number seven Moses died and God speaks to. Joshua and he says to Joshua in chapter one verse two go to the land which I’m giving to them every place that the soul of your foot will tread upon I have given you Matthew 28:8 all authority is given me go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father the son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to obey my commands.
▶ 33:35 Amen so we have the authority from Christ to. Go we have the authority from Christ to make disciples we have the authority to baptize we have the authority to teach and nobody can just come in and say oh no you can’t do that we got to have that kind of attitude. Amen you know remember the scripture says the earth is whose the Lord and all that is. Therein and everyone every soul in it is. His every person you me. Us as a church and I’m talking to the people uh that have been here a long time especially we can’t act like the you know oh I’m sorry am I am I am I intruding on your life right.
▶ 34:42 Now the world belongs to him I have authority to be here by who by God every soul every place that the sole of my foot treads upon God has given me and you. To share his word to teach to make disciples to. Baptize and so we have to go to the sinners we have to go to the immoral we have to go to the rich and the poor with the different e ethnic groups and different cultures and everywhere else everyone else whoever they are nobody’s excluded. That’s the last step in Joshua chapter 1.
