Why does God allow wrong?

▶ Watch this part (24:16)

Short answer: As old as Cain and Abel: the first wrong after the garden, and Adam and Eve’s choice brought death.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 24:16 You may find her seats this morning it’s good to be in God’s house I want to welcome all of you this morning thank you for joining us we’re going to be having food after the service we’re also going to be swimming. So if you brought your swim trunks join us it’s going to be great I’m going to turn on the waterfalls and we were there we were down there at last Friday night with the kids and they were having a good time so we have the sun this morning and it should be a lot of fun. But uh it’s good to have you all thank you for joining us it’s good to be in God’s house. We’re going to get into the scriptures this want morning we’re going to to talk about this question on why does God allow why does God allow uh all kinds of things and uh first we’re going to look at the first wrong and the scriptures in Genesis chapter 4 verse 5.

▶ 25:12 You might know the story is it’s been said as old as Cain and Abel. Cain was Adam’s. First son. And Cain got angry his countenance failed the Bible says and God said to Cain why are you angry why is your countenance fallen if you do well will you not be accepted if you do not do well sin lies at your door his desires for you but you should rule over it so Cain was very angry with his brother. His anger you know the first guy to experience anger he didn’t know how to deal with it didn’t know how to address it or whatever it was and God is giving him the solution. But Cain decides to rise up and kill his brother Abel.

▶ 26:06 And so here we have the first wrong thing that was done after. The garden if you remember the story of the garden there was a tree that they were not supposed to eat of and the tree was the tree of knowledge of good and evil and Adam and Eve ate of this tree and later on I will go through that. But this is the first wrong that was done after eating of that tree and Cain didn’t deal with the anger in his heart and because he didn’t deal with it the action came out God could have intervened and not allowed Cain to kill his brother an innocent man but he did not. And why is that. This question is a big question out there in the world.

▶ 27:02 At the beginning in Genesis 2:25 they were both naked the man and his wife and were not ashamed and the beginning there were no wars plagues earthquakes floods no anger violence murder until the aid of the tree of knowledge good of good and evil they could have eaten of the tree of life and lived forever. But that’s not the case and if I were there if you were there we would have done the same thing. Right. Satan had lied to Eve. We all know this story and if you don’t remember you can read Genesis one through four it’s all there Genesis 3 chapter 4 and he says you will not sure you will not surely die so that’s the first lie that Satan tells Adam and Eve you will not die but as we know Adam it says uh just a few verses later in 319 dust you are into dust you shall return and God talking to Adam.

▶ 28:14 And Genesis 5:5 we see that God was right I mean he Adam lived for 930 years my goodness can you imagine living that long and then he died. And Adam and Eve died even though Satan said they would not die so Adam and Eve were tricked into believing Satan Satan’s lie and it opened up the door for all of us to die of course. But why did God allow Cain to kill Abel it goes back to this tree here and this choice man avan and Adam and Eve chose to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and man must be responsible to choose good over doing evil.

Why must we choose?

▶ Watch this part (29:08)

Short answer: We know good and evil, and Satan leaves out the consequences—but we can make the right choice.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 29:08 This. Is mainly the reason why we have to make a choice on whether or not we are going to follow good or we’re going to do evil. And we have to look out for the lie for what lies we are believing. Satan left out a few things Satan always leaves stuff out right the Devil they don’t give you the whole message. Genesis 3:16 I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception and pain you shall bring forth children your husband shall rule over you you have because you have listened to your wife cursed is the ground for your sake in toil you shall eat of it and so here we have two corrections by God. On Adam and Eve.

▶ 30:06 That Satan had left out right when he’s talking to them he didn’t he didn’t say oh you know this is going to happen to you too you know Satan leaves all that stuff out. Genesis chapter 4 11 Cain also is corrected now you are cursed from the earth when you till the ground it shall no longer yield its strength. And God punished came for murdering his brother. But. Both. Okay. I’ll get back to that in a minute I’m sorry. Genesis chapter 3 7 their eyes were opened they knew they were naked and they sewed big leaves together and made themselves color coverings it’s important to recognize here in Genesis 3:7 that when they ate of that tree they had knowledge of good and evil right and people’s eyes today we are our our eyes are opened to know good and evil we act like we don’t know what good and evil is right today oh I didn’t know that was wrong.

▶ 31:18 Uh I deal with kids a lot and you know they do something they know they shouldn’t have done it and they look at me like I I didn’t know I didn’t know I couldn’t do that. Right and we we come to God the same way I didn’t know that was a problem uh and that’s okay if you don’t if you really don’t know uh God is there to teach us but how do we respond to God do we have a tender and responsive heart to God when he does speak his word how do we respond but God keeps things very simple you know in the in the Old Testament we have ten commandments right and they’re very straightforward they’re very simple. Very important but the drug the Devil tries to obscure all that as we know today the same thing is happening today he’s using lies and partial truths to deceive people and we can’t buy into his lies or in Adam’s case he didn’t listen to Satan directly who’d he listen to he listened to Eve some his family member the person he loved I love this woman but she’s telling me to eat this fruit I know that’s wrong but I’m going to do it because it’s.

▶ 32:36 Tough but we can make the right choice. Genesis 3:22 man has become like one of us to know good and evil and therefore God sent them out of the garden lest they would eat the tree and live forever in sin. But both Adam and Eve and Cain even had received restoration. Cain and his family his children and children’s children. They had livestock they dwelt in tents they uh they learned how to play instruments.

Is a mistake the end of the world?

▶ Watch this part (33:18)

Short answer: No—God restored Cain; we can be restored.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 33:18 They became craftsmen in bronze and iron so it wasn’t like you know it was the end of the world for them Cain made a mistake God restored him that is the hope that we have if you mess up in life God can restore you and bring you right back into good relationship and that’s important especially with Jesus Christ if you make a mistake that’s why John 3:16 is so important Jesus or the John says for God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son that whoever should believe in him would have eternal life God so loved the world he loved us so much that he will restore us he has paid the price for our sin he will bring us back into right relationship with him and Adam and Eve even had children and lived a good life they uh you don’t have another record of them disobeying God they turn from that God restored them Adam had children and more children.

Why the flood?

▶ Watch this part (34:26)

Short answer: Mankind became corrupt; push God enough and He responds—yet Noah found favor and walked with God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 34:26 So God. You can get we can be restored it’s not the end of the world when we make our mistakes amen. Amen. After that mankind we know became corrupt Genesis 6:5 the Lord saw the wickedness of man was great on the earth it was great I mean he looks down he’s like man what are these people do. And every intent of the thoughts of his heart were evil continually my goodness. And the earth was corrupt before God the earth was filled with violence. And you know why is God allowing all this why is God allowing violence and it goes back to that same answers because we have to be responsible to choose what we’re putting in us are we going to make choices to do what is right or are we going to choose evil.

▶ 35:28 But if you push God enough he’s going to respond and here we responded with the flood the water is covered the highest mountain by 20 plus feet. And all flesh died that moved on the earth and it’s a reminder in second Corinthians 5:10. Paul reminds us and he says all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one of you may receive the things done in the body whether what you did was good or bad did you make the right a good choice or a bad choice you know. The flood is an illustration of what’s going to happen at the end of time we’re all going to stand before the judgment seat of Christ and that’s important we need to know that we need to know that we’re going to stand before Christ.

▶ 36:26 Genesis 6:8 Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord oh man one man found favor Noah was a righteous man blameless among the people of his time and he walked with God you know maybe you’re working on be doing what’s right but what you can do is walk with God how do you walk with God you got to spend time with God you’ve got to put his word in you and you got to let that all change you and affect your heart your mind and over time you will begin to change God’s word can change you God’s truth can change you walking with God will have an effect the scriptures say in Proverbs if you walk with the what wise you will be wise there’s no better person to walk with than Christ there’s no better person to walk with than God.

▶ 37:23 And when you walk with God when you walk with Christ it is going to change and have an effect on you the question is how do you do that is he at a certain address oh he’s at the top of the mountain I’m going to go walk with Jesus no no that’s not how it works. Walking with God means that you are including him in your life you’re putting his word and his message in your mind you are taking time for his body which is the church you are responding willing to respond. To God and you know we can get into all that later. But how do we respond to God are we willing to walk with God. The Lord said to Noah come into the ark you and all your household because I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.

▶ 38:18 And you know whatever stage you are in in your relationship with God does God see your righteousness he he’s looking he’s looking that’s important to understand. You know if you’re working on things and you’re really setting it up you know God is looking and he’s got solutions you got to remember that remember God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son he has solutions for every one of us. Foreign. The scriptures also say that sin separates us from God and so if we choose to live that life of sin we’re rejecting the solutions that Christ has provided. But why does God allow going back to that question in Genesis chapter 9 verse 6 this is after the flood God says to Noah whoever shads man’s blood by man his blood shall be shed so we’re talking about the death penalty here uh.

Whose responsibility is it now?

▶ Watch this part (39:30)

Short answer: Ours—God gave laws, and called for judges who would not pervert justice; we need good people in government.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 39:30 Basically what God is saying it’s your responsibility now okay nobody likes that I had a flood nobody everybody’s complaining that I had a flood that you know I had to judge everybody okay you don’t like the way I do things you guys are in charge now so now we’re in charge right now we are at post flood amen. So the question isn’t why does God allow the question is why do we allow okay. And we got to take responsibility we can’t shift the blame on God and say it’s his fault. So God as time goes by God gives laws to Moses he gives us the ten commandments as we mentioned earlier and more and mankind are given more responsibility to deal with crime God set up clear laws on all kinds of things.

▶ 40:36 Including ceremonial laws that Jesus fulfilled but also moral laws that we’re supposed to keep. In Deuteronomy 16:18 later on in the Old Testament he says you shall appoint judges and they shall judge the people with what just judgment. So this lines up with his statement to Noah hey you guys are in charge now here here he is setting up and saying hey it’s your turn now you guys got to judge the people and use just judgment you shall not pervert justice so here here we go here’s the next problem. God we have to trust that. People are going to judge justly that people are going to do what’s right.

▶ 41:32 You know we can trust that God is going to do us right because he’s always doing what’s right but it’s hard to trust in a person. You shall not pervert justice you shall not show a partiality or favoritism oh I’m I’m partial to this person because of this or that has been my family member or they’re for a certain race or they’re this uh nor take a bride for a bride blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. This is important people are getting paying off not not having to people are paying people off it’s corruption as we know you shall follow what is all together just that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord is giving you so God clearly states what a good judge is supposed to do.

▶ 42:30 And that takes a lot of it takes a good person that’s why we need good people in our government that’s very important this is why you need good people you can’t just put anybody in charge you need someone who’s not going to take a bribe you need someone who’s not going to be partial you need somebody who’s not going to pervert justice and that’s why it’s so important to have some a moral generation coming up next because they’re going to be your judges and if they have no morality then they’re not going to be good they’re not going to judge right. Samuel in first Samuel 8 verse 1 he was old he made his son judges over Israel Joel and abijah were their names they did not walk in his ways so this is what I was just saying the next generation here did not walk in the ways of Samuel.

▶ 43:32 They were not just and right like their father they chose to pervert what was right they turned aside after dishonest gain they took bribes they perverted justice. All these things that God told him not to do and so it’s important for us to teach our children to teach the next generation to be an example see people I talk to people all the time and nobody’s concerned about being an example to the next generation yes they have a choice are they going to choose for themselves to do what’s right but did they have a good example to follow. Paul said to Timothy let us I’m sorry let no one despise your youth but what be an example. In word and how you conduct yourself.

▶ 44:28 Amen. And other places of the Old Testament confirms. This. That what a ruler should be and what rulers became. Rulers started to pervert what was right and God now has to deal with these bad people that are in charge and right here in this scripture 25 he says I will turn my hand against you against these bad rulers against the people that are rebelling so God is putting the responsibility in man to. To judge but men if we don’t take our responsibility he still has to correct us and he will.

What happened at Babel?

▶ Watch this part (45:30)

Short answer: They wanted to make a name for themselves and stay in one spot; God changed their language.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 45:30 In Genesis 11:4. The people in the at the tower of Babel they wanted to make a name for themselves they wanted to build a city no problem okay you want to build a city that’s great you want to build a tower who’s top and in the heaven why do you want to build that tower oh because we want to make a name for ourselves we don’t want God you know God’s name we’re not interested in making a name for him we want to make a name for ourselves right. Uh lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth we want to make a name for ourselves we want to stick together stay in this place but you got to remember that conflicts with what he told people to do at the beginning he told Adam and Eve what multiply. And fill what the earth.

▶ 46:25 So these actions you know they’re going to stay in one spot that’s not what God he wants them to go everywhere. So God comes and he changes their language. And it says that he scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth and they see spilled in the city how did God do that I don’t know did God put a desire in their heart and they just started going or did God just pick them up sovereignly and put them somewhere else and transport you know God can do that. We don’t know how he did it but he did it he’s he scattered them God’s got plans I I’m not sure at this point why he wants everybody scattered and filling the earth but he wants that and you can’t you can’t just go against what God wants.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Genesis 11:4-8 (NKJV)

And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

How do we get to the tree of life?

▶ Watch this part (47:21)

Short answer: Through Christ—be written in the book of life.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 47:21 But going back to the tree so you have in the garden you have the tree of life and you have the tree of knowledge of good and evil actually she said that we can eat of all the trees in the garden right so there are a lot of trees they could eat up and they must have all had the life in them but we can’t eat of this one tree. And Adam and Eve were separated from that tree of life and so we are trying to get back to that tree of life and Christ because he loves for God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believed in him would have eternal life Christ has made himself available to be that tree.

▶ 48:16 For anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire we don’t want that I want to be in the book of life well how do I get in the book of life I gotta eat from who the tree of life and that is Jesus so we have a problem the solution in John 6:54 whoever eats my flesh drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up in the last day. And he also says in John 6:35 I am the bread of life and the one who comes to me I will by no means cast out so Christ is saying that he is this tree he is the answer I am that eternal life you were separated from me at the beginning I am here now and I can redeem you and I can you know no matter what has happened your life I can start to make you new and restore you bring you back and write relationship with God but you got to partake of Jesus Christ.

How does the service close?

▶ Watch this part (49:29)

Short answer: Lazarus called from the tomb, “To the river I am going,” a salvation prayer and communion.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 49:29 As Miss Woods comes. Or worship team if Brian’s still here he can join us too we’re going to sing a song that says to the river I am going and basically it’s the same concept the river is life Jesus is life and this song. Represents that and illustrates that and we can come to Jesus Christ where he is surrender ourselves. And he will give us that life and I encourage you this morning to take that step like a woman with the issue of blood she needed the life in her because she was dying Lazarus in the tomb Lazarus in the tomb was dead and he was in darkness.

▶ 50:24 And Jesus said take away the stone and Jesus called Lazarus out of that tomb. And Jesus has the power to bring us from from death he has the power to heal this this spiritual sickness that we may have. And sin is a spiritual sickness whatever it is Christ has the power. So God is asking us this morning are we believing Satan Satan’s lives are we listening to people that are deceived it’s hard you know when you got a family member you got somebody you know that you love and you’ve known him all your life and you just care about them and they are telling you to do what’s wrong it’s. Somewhere you’ve got to decide are you going to stick with God or are you going to go with.

▶ 51:18 Someone else’s words. In our own homes in our own lives our own individual lives are we rejecting good and right choices judgment. God has given mankind responsibility. To make right judgment. Are we opposing God’s word. Do we want to be restored like Cain Adam and Eve and many others in the scriptures in the Old Testament and in the New Testament do we want that restoration. So I’d like to invite you we’re going to sing this song real quick and then we’ll take some time to pray and invite Christ to come. Will you sing with me.

▶ 52:28 Come and cleanse me. Come. Forgive me. Lord I need meet you there. In these water. Healing mercy. I am going. To that river. Lord I need to meet you there. Precious. Jesus.

▶ 53:20 I am ready. To surrender. Everything. Take my hand. Leave me now closer. Lord I need. To meet you there. This morning if you want to take that step like many people in the scriptures did coming to Jesus Jesus is that river of life Jesus is the tree of life I’d like to invite you to stand this morning we’re going to sing this again no matter how you sing it it is our way of surrendering saying Jesus I’m coming to you I want to touch you like that woman did reached out and touched the edge of Christ’s garments let his virtue flow will you join with me let’s sing this one more time unto Jesus let’s stand.

▶ 54:30 To the river. I am going. Raisins. I am close. In these waters. The healing mercy. Flows with freedom from despair. Lord I need to meet you there.

▶ 55:36 Are their heads bowed our eyes closed. Just want to give an opportunity for anyone. Who’s never accepted Christ. If you’d like to accept Jesus now I want to just remind you of the scriptures in Romans 3:23 it says it all have fallen short of the glory of God all have sinned and Romans 6:23 it says through the wages of that sin the result and the payment of that sin is death in hell we don’t want that but it says the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord and as we have learned this morning Jesus Christ is the tree of life he is the living God and he gave his life for you on the cross when he died for your sin. And the scriptures also say in first John 1:9 if you confess with your mouth.

▶ 56:31 He is faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. This morning if you would like to accept Christ and you would like to invite him just repeat this prayer after me we’re going to pray this unto Jesus this morning say Lord Jesus. I admit. I confess. I have sinned. Lord Jesus I pray. Cleanse me forgive me. Make me a new creature. Lord Jesus. I commit. To listening to your voice. To your word. And I commit to following you.

▶ 57:24 Lord I ask that you come into my heart. Thank you Jesus. In your precious name amen amen. We’re going to take up communion at this time he’s gonna Mr. Thompson’s gonna pass out the uh. Cup. Thank you. We’re going to take the bread first.

▶ 58:47 1 Corinthians 11:26 says whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the lord’s death until he comes. And he says referring to the bread first Corinthians 11:24 this is my body which has been broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me and if you remember Christ the story Jesus Christ gave his life on the cross his life he was innocent there was no sin in him as Pilate said he said I find no fault with this man and Jesus Christ was beaten and bruised the scriptures say his visage was marred more than any man’s and he gave his life for us. In Romans 12:56 it says we being many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another this bread this body represents Jesus Christ and as we already read that he is the bread of life he is the living bread that came down let’s eat this bread together I’m going to have somebody pray before we do mr tables would you please pray for the bread this morning.

▶ 1:00:36 Let’s eat this together. And then he also took the cup and he said this is my blood. Whenever you drink this this cup is the new covenant in my blood whenever you drink this in remembrance of mead you proclaim the lord’s death until he comes. And God has promised in his new covenant that he’ll give us a new heart that he’ll put his spirit in us and cause us to walk in his ways and also like we learned this morning he is that tree of life he is that river of life and no matter what where we’re at today no matter what we’ve done today Christ can restore us back and right relationship with God so I’m going to pray for this cup actually Mr. Thompson will you please pray for this cup.

▶ 1:01:52 Vehicle. Establish these principles. Amen let’s drink together. And let’s sing that chorus one more time. Precious Jesus. Foreign. Need you there.

▶ 1:03:04 Take my hand. And not lead me closer. Lord I need. To meet you there. Thank you Lord Jesus. Thank you Jesus and everyone said amen. You may find your seats this morning. Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 11:39-43 (NKJV)

Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
