Transformation - March 3, 2024: full transcript and answers

▶ 0:12 Got some people some examples in the scriptures of people whose lives were changed transformed they were made new and we want to we want to reflect that in our lives we want to experience that in our lives. Amen in 2 Corinthians chapter 5:17 says therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation old things have passed away behold all things have been made have become new this is a very famous scripture if you’ve been a Christian for any amount of time you’ve probably heard this scripture heard it said it’s a very powerful and important scripture in your life that Christ wants to make you a new person and you can attain this by becoming by being in Christ. He can he can get rid of the old stuff the past and he can make you a new person we’re going to look at some examples first we’re looking at Zacharias Zacharias was a priest.

▶ 1:13 He was righteous before God him and his wife Elizabeth so we have the two people here they’re righteous before God they’re blameless and he is a priest I mean he’s in the house of the Lord and he’s blameless. They had no children unfortunately Elizabeth couldn’t have children they were well advanced in years in other words they were. Old and Zacharias had an encounter in the temple with an angel and the angel said your prayer is heard you shall have a son and you shall call him John he will be great in God’s sight no wine he can’t drink any wine he must be he’s going to be filled with the the the spirit and in his mother’s womb he’s going to turn many to the Lord and he will be like Elijah having the spirit and power of Elijah so first of all what you want to recognize here is that you have some blameless people that are old advanced in years do you fit that category well we still got some changing to do and we’re still candidates amen no matter where you’re at whether you’re young or whether you’re old God’s word and God’s uh transformation is for us and we’re going to look at Zacharias’s trans.

▶ 2:30 Information he says how shall I know this I am old and my wife is old too the angel made him mute when he said this Elizabeth conceived John was born 9 months later and 8. Days actually I don’t know if it was nine months later could have been 38 weeks or 40 weeks you know we don’t know the due date they’re always wrong Luke 1:160 his mother said he shall be called called. John and uh what I was thinking about this whole situation Zacharias when he came out of the temple he was he couldn’t talk to anybody and he was you know he was pointing and you know expressing with his hands and he gets home and Elizabeth is like I need details what did the angel.

▶ 3:24 Say and they go through this time of 9 months of and him not a being able to talk and they’re having this couple’s therapy moment a challenge in their life where they can’t communicate or he’s having trouble he’s got to write everything down Elizabeth is like you know she’s getting big because the baby’s coming she how do I look and she and then she says oh sorry you can’t say anything I forgot I forgot you can’t talk and she goes to make preparations for the baby and she goes to buy some things and she says Zacharias can I buy this’ and she’s like oh wait I forgot you can’t. Talk and zachari is. Like and then she says I’ll take that as a yes what honey I can’t hear you I’m joking they had to learn to communicate with one.

▶ 4:22 Another and while Zacharias is learning patient in patience in communication with his wife and at his work cuz he had to keep working he’s starting to change in his mind he’s starting to change in his thinking about this promise and God is changing. Him and we need some changing in our mind amen we need some changing in our thinking and God is working on Zacharias for nine. Months and they asked Zacharias they came to him after asking his mother after asking Elizabeth and Zacharias his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed and he spoke and he praised God and fear came on all who dwelt around them because they knew what had happened to.

▶ 5:19 Zacharias and he was filled with the Holy Spirit he didn’t have to wait for Pentecost and this goes back to the message that we’ve been preaching how God can come to your individual life and transform you even though the event may not be happening yet remember last week we were talking about the second coming and God’s promise is going to be fulfilled and all that and we don’t have to wait for that Zacharias experienced that he was filled with the spirit before Pentecost came 30 plus years before it. Happened and he. Prophesied and uh and there’s a lot here I’m sorry prophecy as well it shows us here prophecy is is one of those things the Holy Spirit does you talk to the certain people and they’ll say oh it has to be tongues well here he prophesied and he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

▶ 6:17 Amen I want to ask another question did Elizabeth take over the authority of her husband or usurp authority over her husband they didn’t believe her word. Did she take over seize control over and authority over her husband and the answer is. No and why is that because her message that she spoke was consistent with what the angel the word of God and so no matter where it’s not the qu the question isn’t who is speaking the question is what are we speaking are are we speaking our opinion or are our words consistent with God’s word so whether you’re a woman or a man a husband or a wife you can share the promise of God the word of God don’t let anybody look down on.

▶ 7:19 You the question is what are you saying is it consistent with God’s word is it consistent with his promise they wouldn’t accept Elizabeth’s word but her word was still. Right. Amen amen now of course you have to do it all properly and all right even men us men have to do things right women you know wives we got to do things right you can’t uh you know let’s not make a fight about every little thing you didn’t do this according to the word and get all upset about every no that’s not what we’re talking about where she’s reiterating the promise that the angel had spoken so Zacharias begins to prophesy and he says God remembers his holy. Covenant that he’s going to deliver us from our enemies that we might serve him without fear my son is he’s going to he’s going to be the prophet of the highest John the baptist was the prophet for Jesus he was going to go before the Lord to prepare his ways this is all prophesied in the Old Testament if you remember John he mentioned that they asked him who are you I’m the one.

▶ 8:33 Uh who cries out in the wilderness make straight your the paths. Amen to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sin to give light to those who sit in darkness and so this man Zacharias who just nine months ago was given a word by the angel and was saying this can’t happen how can this happen happen uh you got to remember the priests when John the baptist and Jesus came the priests all went out and challenged John the baptist and Jesus and they all tried to catch John the baptist and Jesus in their words and Zacharias is in that number he’s a priest but here we have a priest who has changed his mind changed his attitude and God has brought him from someone who is fighting with God to someone who is speaking and promoting the the true message and promise of Christ and of his own son John the baptist.

▶ 9:45 And so we see a great. Change in his tongue how many of us need a change in our tongue how many of us need a change in our mind how many of us need a way to change the way we think Zacharias became a new person a new message was in his heart a new hope was in the heart and a new way of talking and thinking he is one of our first examples. Gideon the angel said to Gideon in judges chapter 611 the Lord is with you you mighty man of valor go in this mind of yours have I not sent you so God is sending Gideon or the angel is speaking this and Gideon he gives this kind kind of like a a snapshot of where he is at in his mind at this time and if you remember these are the some of the things that Gideon said oh my goodness who do you think you are coming over here he says why has all this happened to us you know they were in a time of great famine and and they were under oppression by their enemy Midian by the land of Midian and the amalekites they were under oppression he he was even threshing wheat in a wine press he was trying to hide the food because they would take.

▶ 11:04 Everything they were under great oppression and he’s saying why has all this happened to us where are God’s miracles the Lord has forsaken us and you tell me that I am mighty how can I save Israel my clan is the weakest and that I am the least in my father’s house so these statements and these questions that he has give you an idea of where he is at and how many of us have been there too amen how many of us have asked these questions to God yes set them all I’m guilty. Amen but God wants to change us he wants to change our hearts and our minds he wants to make us warriors in his army for his kingdom.

▶ 11:57 Amen so. Gideon one of the first things God asks him to do is tear down the altar of Baal that his father has so first he has to do something in his own family to kind of cause maybe maybe cause a rift here my goodness he’s got to cut down the wooden image that’s beside it and he’s got to take that wood of the altar and he’s going to build an altar and he’s going to burn a sacrifice with the wood he’s going to take the idol chop it up burn a sacrifice with that wood kind of saying this idol is nothing. Right and his father comes up and he says uh after he does this he says shouldn’t Baale be you know fighting for himself you know if if bale doesn’t fight for himself if Baale doesn’t respond here you know you can’t you can’t kill my son because he chopped up some would cuz that’s all this thing is so Gideon took 10 men from among his servants he did it as the Lord had said he did it by night because he was afraid and they responded they were angry about it they were upset and it’s important to.

▶ 13:16 Realize real quick here that there were no miracles involved with this. Activity it was simply God asked him to do something and Gideon had to decide whether or not he was going to do it. He didn’t need special strength to tear down this uh wooden. Idol he just had to decide whether or not he was going to obey and that’s where some of us can be there’s a time where we have to obey what is God asking me to do in my life and there may not be miracles. Involved and so Gideon had to decide whether or not he was going to obey he had a time where he was just obeying God and then later shortly judges chapter 633 the midianites and amalekites encamped against Israel all of them and the spirit comes to Gideon and he calls four tribes together not even the whole of Israel.

▶ 14:18 Uh he gets a fleece and he goes through this process and you guys know the process I’m not going to get into all that but he wants to make sure God is with him he gets a fleece and he says if you know if you’re really going to be with me then you need to make this dry and make the ground wet and then he does it again make the fleece wet and the ground dry all this u stuff that he goes through here and he gets a big crowd of over 30,000 people to fight you know against these amalekites and midianites and God whitts down that group to how many. 300 and they’re going up against an enemy. That is. Countless so. Many and Gideon goes down and he hears somebody talking about how they had a dream and about Gideon coming and destroying and they were afraid and he worshiped God and he thanked God for that he divided his group of 300 into three companies which is what how many is that.

▶ 15:25 100 groups of a 100 and they cried the sword of the Lord and of Gideon the whole army the enemy army ran and cried out and fled uh God set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole. Camp the enemy were as the sand by the seashore in multitude so these 300 were going up against you know let’s say over a million right that is a what. Miracle that is God’s wonders God is doing a mighty work with 300 people that’s a miracle amen how many how many agree with that I don’t care if you’re the spartan army oh and you’re so decked out and you got all the gear you’re not going to last against a million. People okay there’s no natural way they’re getting out of this except with God and that was God’s point that’s why he brought them down to 300 you know I’m going to bring you out of this you’re going to know it’s.

▶ 16:32 Me and later Gideon they said to him rule over us both you and your son for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian so this man who just a couple chapters ago was all upset how can I save Israel how can I do this how can I do that I’m the weakest I’m the least I’m this I’m that you forsaken us God. Is now being called on to be a king over all of Israel of a nation what a big transformation so what Gideon who was once afraid scared talking down on himself experienced the promise of God. Fulfilled and we must face this. Today and our future with a new.

▶ 17:26 Outlook dwelling on our past isn’t going to help us we’ve got to hang on to the promise that God has for us and for our future we are a chosen. People a royal priesthood a holy nation a special. Force that we will that we may proclaim the praises of God who has called us out of darkness amen and so this transformation has happened in Gideon’s life and God wants that in our lives remember last week’s message how God said uh the Devil’s going to try I’m sorry pharaoh is not going to want to let you go just like the Devil doesn’t want to let you go but you hang in there fight the good fight and I am going to come with my what my wonders and deliver you and that’s exactly what God did and that’s exactly what he wants to do today in your life and these Old Testament examples were written for our at adition in our learning.

▶ 18:31 Amen it’s true even in 2024 these aren’t just stories they are fulfillments that God wants to do in your life. Rahab was a prostitute she had a lodging business she hid the men of of Israel that came to spy out Jericho you may not know the story you may know the story but uh. That’s what it happened men were sent to spy out jer Jericho Jericho was the first city that uh Joshua was going to overtake because it was part of the promised. Land and they go in and they meet this prostitute and she uh makes a deal with them and says since I have shown you kindness spare my father my mother my brothers my sisters and all that they have and deliver our lives from death.

▶ 19:30 And she goes on to tell them and she says I know that the Lord has given you the land that the terror of you has fallen on us that all the inhabitants of land are fainthearted we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the red sea for you when you came out of Egypt what you did do sihon and og whom you utterly destroyed our hearts melted for the Lord your God he is what God in heaven above and on earth beneath so here we have a lady who is a believer who wasn’t even part of Israel she believes that their God is God. Amen and you have to remember when they approached. Jericho they had been in the wilderness for how long over 40 years so this woman I don’t know where she heard this message maybe she heard it from since she was a kid.

▶ 20:33 You know I don’t know how old she was but somewhere she heard of what had happened in Egypt or it must have been widely known and this woman believes in what has. Happened even though it happened for years ago she still. Remembers and she has respect for God and she turned into an evangelist for her family she’s getting her father her mother her sisters her brother hey come over to my house stay with me something is. Coming 2 Corinthians 5:11 knowing the terror of the Lord we persuade men Paul is uh admonishing us saying remember we know God’s judgment we we know at some point God’s going to have to judge.

▶ 21:32 Amen and knowing that judgment knowing God the terror of the Lord we persuade men that’s exactly what this Rahab woman was. Doing in Acts chapter 19:17 this exact thing is uh done in the New Testament after witnessing the power of God demonstrated through the Paul’s ministry fear fell on the people of ephesus in the name of the Lord was held in high honor many who practice sorcery burned their scrolls showing their repentance and reverence for God so the same thing that happened in Rahab’s day she they they she heard about the power of God she feared God and God’s name in her eyes was held in high honor amen and because of that she made sure to keep those men safe from her own countrymen she betrayed her own country because she knew that they that God was.

▶ 22:40 God later on in her life she married Salmon who begat Boaz Boaz begat Obed by Ruth Obed begot Jesse and Jesse begat David the king and so so Rahab who was a prostitute deep in sin deep in darkness she left that life she was transformed she was adopted into a new family she became a new. Person and she became the great grandmother of king. David. Powerful what a transformation ation what a change someone who is completely in darkness in sin has been brought out of it and not only brought out of it but becomes part of uh the nation of Israel and not only that but a great grandmother to king David one of the most famous kings in the Old Testament.

▶ 23:53 Amen excellent it’s powerful it’s good God’s word is is good Ephesians chapter 2:21 in whom the whole building being fitted together grows into a holy temple in the Lord in whom you also being built together for a dwelling place of God in the spirit we’ve got to remember like this song has said that we introduced this message with we were born we were created to be a a home a dwelling place for our God it is so important for those in the church to recognize that when we reject uh God’s word when we reject his truth we are rejecting what God made us to be all of creation has to answer this calling are they going to reject it or they going to accept.

▶ 24:49 It and in America. Today the world and its message is calling people to a different. Artificial uh state of being but God has created you to be his dwelling place no matter what the world says don’t artificially change yourself be who God made you to be be an individual be genuine be the real deal be a real parent be a real male or female be a real. Christian. God is not dwelling in gorillas or in monkeys or in fish or whales he dwells in us. Humans don’t we get.

▶ 25:43 It don’t we understand that evolution’s a joke God’s not dwelling in all the things he created that stuff was made for us it’s consistent you don’t meet a gorilla who’s got the presence of the Lord on them I mean maybe the donkey but that’s all you. Got okay you don’t have otherwise we’d have a lot of gorillas and rhinos and uh giraffes lions coming out of the woodwork saying I have the presence of the Lord upon me you don’t have that why because God made us. Different this world was made for mankind for us to be created a dwelling place for God. Gorillas they have you know similar attributes as we but they’re different why because we were made a dwelling place for.

▶ 26:52 God Genesis 1:27 God created man in his own image the image of God he created him male and female again he created them Genesis 2:7 the Lord formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed in his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul God made Adam from the dust of the ground he brought countless trillions of particles of dust particles together to make Adam and no matter how many pieces that your life has been broken into God can bring it all together and make you a new creation no matter what your life your past is like no matter how many broken pieces you have Ezekiel 37:1 again it’s confirmed in this story the valley was full of dry bones they were very dry maybe you feel dry as a Christian maybe you feel dry as a person wherever your the state you are in God can bring you together together God can bring you together verse 7 I prophesied as I was commanded there was a noise a rattling the bones came together bone to bone did you know that the adults have over 200 bones and there’s an exceedingly great army so let’s say there’s a million people in this valley maybe 500,000 now I’ll keep it easy a million.

▶ 28:23 And each one of them has got to get the right bone right I got to get the femur that fits me I can’t have a half femur walking around like this I can’t have a half arm like this and a full long on I’ve got to have everything. Working and God brought all of those. Bones for a million people together 200 bones each that’s 200 million things flying in the air God is God is bringing it together. Together it is nothing for. Him to bring your life. Together no matter how many pieces it’s in it is nothing for him to raise up an army even in our day.

▶ 29:15 That serves him that gives him glory and honor God can do anything he put the sinews and the flesh on them skin covered them there was no breath there was no breath in them and he prophesied and the breath came in them they stood upon their feet an exceedingly great army amen God brought these bones God brought all of these things the senus the tendons the the blood. Vessels put skin on. Them and he made them who were once dead and broken he made them whole and breathe life into them and God can do the same thing in our lives God can bring us from uh the deepest darkest place oh I’m sorry I’m not there yet f second Corinthians chapter 10:4 the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world on the contrary they have divine power to demolish.

▶ 30:21 Strongholds as a worship team comes 1 Timothy 6:12 fight the good fight of faith take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your confession in the presence of many witnesses fight the good fight of faith so this story about the valley of dry bones is reminding. Us that God is restoring and wants to bring us into that army amen God wants to make you into that warrior and he’s given us weapons to fight the battle that we need to fight as we learned last week the Satan doesn’t want to let you go and you’ve got to fight a battle but you can do it why because God his voice is going to bring you back all together he’s going to put flesh senus he’s going to give you the breath of life and you’re going to be uh made a new per.

▶ 31:24 Person that can fight. And in this example of the dry bones God raised an army from dead dry bones and God can bring you from the deepest pit from the worst condition and transform you into a warrior a new creation that can. Battle the fights that you’re facing your life and you can battle for the kingdom of God that means bringing people into his kingdom. There is a fight that has to be waged against the kingdom of darkness and we were reminded last week to arm ourselves with those spiritual. Weapons so instead of transitioning to. Sin the word the hot word right now is trans I don’t want to be trans to darkness I don’t want to be artificially transitioned I want to be trans transformed by the living God there is a transformation that needs to happen in our lives and that’s through his word through his power and his presence and we’re seeing how we can do.

▶ 32:44 That many people in the Bible started out they were uh in the condition they were and God changed them and brought them out of that so instead of being transition to sin and darkness to artificially changing ourselves to changing what we have been created to be let us be transformed by the renewing of our mind as it says in Romans 12:2 do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good pleasing and perfect will are we willing this morning to go through his transformation. Process are we willing like Gideon to obey are we willing to submit ourselves to the power of God and his wonders in our life.

▶ 33:43 And as I have heard this famous statement in this church are we willing to stick with. Jesus until we are fully. Transformed amen amen I’d like to invite you to stand with. Me can we sing that song one more time I was made I was born to be do you want. Me. Yes I was. Born to. Be your we want to take some time this morning. To seek God to invite God to transform our hearts and our minds we want to submit ourselves under that transformation process that’s what this prayer time is about when you come before.

To as she sings it again let’s come before God and pray as she sings it Jesus we come before you Lord Jesus Lord we pray for your transformation in our lives Jesus jes Jesus we call on you Lord God we want to be in your made in your likeness God we want to Jesus respond to that image that you created us to be Jesus Jesus we pray Lord. Come let my life now. Be. Separated. Unto thee. And I may.

▶ 36:30 Be what I was born. To. Be let my love now. Be. Separate it unto. Thee that I. May what I was born.

▶ 37:06 To let’s lift up our voices in prayer as an individual let’s lift up our voices God we come before you Jesus Jesus Jesus Lord we pray for that transformation in your church we pray for that transformation in our lives Jesus Jesus we invite you right now oh Lord oh God oh king of kings and Lord of lords Jesus we pray for your work in our hearts and our spirit Jesus Jesus Lord we pray God remove those old ways out of us that old life Jesus Jesus please we call on you Lord we pray for your wonders and your works to be done Jesus we pray for that powerful spirit of God to come and work in us Jesus we need Lord like like Elizabeth and that Zacharias God we need to open up ourselves to Lord the next thing that you want to do maybe in our lives God we need to be willing Jesus I pray Lord that we would be willing like these like that family God Jesus please please oh Lord we call on you this morning Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus Lord we need you we need your spirit your power Jesus Jesus king of kings Lord of lords almighty God Lord worthy worthy are you Lord Jesus

▶ 38:37 Jesus king of kings oh Lord worthy is the king we’re going to put our hands on one. Another and uh it’s the next song says make me new and it says instead of saying make me new we’re going to say make us new and we want to be made a new creation a new people like these people in the scriptures were they were made new and we’re going to pray for one another and ask God to do that in our lives make me new. Lord. Jesus make us. New. For it seems that in so many.

▶ 39:36 Ways not enough like. You take this earth and vessel I have been and mold me once. Again here’s my heart. Here’s my Spirit make me new let’s lay our hands on one another and pray that God would make us new Lord we come before you Jesus we lift up our voices God we come before you pray for one another right now our brothers and our sisters Jesus Lord we pray Lord that you would make us new Lord like you made Elizabeth and and Zacharias you made them new even Lord in their well well advanced in years God even even though they’re older Lord even though they were they had arrived to he had a priesthood God Lord you were doing a work in their lives and still Lord they needed to be made new God we pray for that transformation in our lives Lord we pray Jesus Lord that you would bring us to a new mindset Lord a new thinking Lord thinking like you speaking your word speaking your truth Jesus Jesus changes Lord on the inside God we pray for your wonders Lord we pray for your spirit we pray for your power oh holy king of kings Lord of lords there is nobody like you

▶ 41:06 Jesus Lord we pray for your wonders God to come we pray for your spirit Lord of conviction Lord we pray for your presence and power to come in such a mighty powerful way Lord Jesus we need you we need you oh Lord we need you the king of kings king of glory oh Lord worthy is the king of kings Jesus Jesus Lord make us new people make us new creations Lord make us Lord. Jesus Lord take away all the old things and make us new Jesus Lord oh Lord we need you we need you. Jesus I was. Born to.

▶ 43:03 Jesus you may know people or in general we want to pray for this world this this message of the world is really taking hold of our community of our country and people are believing these. Things and not they’re not getting transformed by the renewing they’re not they’re not getting transformed by God and if there’s somebody that you know if there’s someone you know that needs prayer that needs their heart their minds freed from this kind of thinking we want to lift them up right now and it could be in many different areas and maybe your own life butth we want to lift them up right now and every one of us has somebody that we know that needs prayer so I would say lift up your hand but every one of us needs to pray for for this world for people we know lift them up right now and just ask that God would bring his powerful word to them that transformation Lord let’s lift up our voices God we pray Lord for this world God we pray for our state we pray for our country Jesus we pray for the schools we pray for the children Lord Jesus that are being influenced by this worldly message Lord God first of all we pray equip us Lord to speak your truth Lord equip us Lord send us out Lord to speak that mighty powerful truth Lord that you would be with it like you said you

▶ 44:33 you would be with us to the end of the age God Lord but we pray Lord that your powerful truth would come Lord the truth that sets people free Lord Jesus maybe they don’t even know they’re in bondage but Lord we pray God Lord that you would open up their eyes to see Lord that they have some changes to do Lord that you open up their eyes and show them that the road they’re traveling on the word the message they’re believing is harmful it’s untrue it’s not right God we lift up our voices right now God we ask Lord by your spirit by your power Jesus Jesus that your real authentic real message your powerful message God Lord the power demonstration of your power would come God in these people’s lives Jesus Lord that your word would break their hearts break their spirits Jesus Jesus please Lord God we call on you Lord Jesus come by your wonders God come with your wonders God in our own lives Jesus and Lord the lives of the people around us Lord the world Lord that they may see who is God Jesus Jesus Jesus Lord like the Egyptians Lord you did it so that they would understand that you were God Jesus Jesus Lord you brought your plag that they would understand that you are God Lord just

▶ 46:04 do that today Lord bring your wonders your mighty acts that people would see that you are God Jesus please we pray let there. Be. a performance of That which one. Spoken for. Nothing is. Impossible with God let’s let’s lift it up this morning praise let there be a performance of that which was. Spoken for for nothing is.

God God we pray for your demonstration of power yes Jesus we pray for your demonstration of power Lord in speaking with the world Lord and combating the world’s message yes God God Lord it says in the great commission that you will be with us even to the end of the age God Lord we put our trust and our hope in you Lord Jesus we pray Lord equip us for every good work yes Lord Jesus we ask this in your name.
