Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
On Christmas Eve, after carols, the message gives three responses to Christ: the inn that had no room because it was full of the world, the wise men who sought Him from far away and overcame every excuse, and the shepherds who went to see what the Lord made known. Jesus is still knocking and asking whether there is room for Him.

Scripture in this part
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
— Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:40 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Acts 4:12 (NKJV)
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:28 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What was the first response to Christ?
Short answer: No room: Mary laid Him in a manger because there was no room in the inn. Christ wants to be formed in us.
▶ 23:29 We’re going to be talking about three responses to Christ very simple message this morning but uh important for every one of us to get in this attitude and mindset of responding to Christ. Amen in Luke 2:7 it says she brought forth her firstborn son wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the end and uh if we think think logically the end was filled with people and they were doing what they were in business to do of course but if we look at it from a spiritual perspective let’s just imagine for a moment that our heart and our mind is like an inn it’s like a hotel and Jesus wants to come and he wants to be born in.
▶ 24:19 You and in this case there was no room in Galatians chapter 4:19 Paul reminds us he says my children for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you so Christ wants to form in us he wants to begin be birthed in us start from a little uh you know baby and grow into a mature uh life in us amen and so Christ wants to be born wants to form in your heart and in your mind that’s not that’s why when you come to Christ and you accept it in your heart it is a birth it’s not a immediately your mature.
Scripture in this part
Luke 2:7 (NKJV)
And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
— Luke 2:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:29Galatians 4:19 (NKJV)
My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you,
— Galatians 4:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 24:19Is Christ knocking at your door?
Short answer: Behold I stand at the door and knock; as Joseph and Mary knocked and were turned away, we can reject Him or open the door.
▶ 25:05 Amen Christ will grow in form in you Revelation chapter 3:20 says behold I stand at the door and knock and if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into him and dine with him and he with me so here we have it Joseph and Mary were knocking at the door in the in at the end and here it is Jesus Christ is saying behold I stand at the door and knock I’m knocking at your heart I’m knocking at your your mind and I want to enter in and the key here like we learned last week if anyone will what hear my voice and open the door we have to hear his voice last week we learned that that um the spirit of God is like oxygen that breath of God that comes into to us and if you want that life to come into you Elijah stood before those dry bones and God gave him a word and said hear the word of the Lord and so that’s very important uh people of all generations old young wherever you’re at we have a hard time.
Scripture in this part
Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
— Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:05Are the Scriptures alive today?
Short answer: Yes; man lives by every word that proceeds, in the present time; written long ago doesn’t mean they aren’t life today.
▶ 26:15 Hearing God’s word and in last week we learned like like it is it is breath the spirit is like breath taking breath and you can hold your breath and you can stop uh that spirit from coming in and giving you life in this case you can reject him by saying no I’m not going to open the door to you and I don’t want to eat your food Jesus said come and eat of my flesh and drink of my blood amen so that’s what he’s saying he’s going to do and we have to respond in this way if anyone hears my voice and we’re talking about the present time you can’t say oh well I heard God a year ago I heard God 20 years ago and I responded no God who are we willing to hear what Jesus is saying today now in your life now.
▶ 27:13 Amen man lives not by bread alone but by every word that proceeds proceeds in the present time right now. Today and the scriptures are powerful they’re living you’ve got to remember that just because they were written a long time ago doesn’t mean that they’re not life today and they’re he’s speaking those words today he still is it’s living but you got to get a hold of that living word and what God is saying to you today you can’t live off of what he said to you 20 years ago what he said 20 years ago to you still works but you’ve got to hear what he’s saying to you today cuz he wants to grow in you amen he’s going to start from a little candle the light and he wants to grow in you as bright as the sun he’s brighter than the sun there is a growth and if you want that growth you have to hear continually just like you have to breathe continually amen first Corinthians chapter 6:19 do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you whom you have from God you are not your own.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
— Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:13Is my life too messy for Jesus?
Short answer: The stable had animal poop, bugs and mess, but Christ was born there; you have to be willing to receive Him.
▶ 28:22 On the night Jesus was born the stable for the animals was God’s temple the stable had animal poop in it the stable was dirty it was messy it had bugs it had all this stuff in it but Christ was born there and you may think oh well they don’t understand I’ve got poop in my life I’ve got I’m dirty I’m messy I’m I’ve got well Jesus was born in a stable he can start in. You you think you’re dirty you think that you can’t contain God that’s not true that’s that’s a lie Jesus can begin in.
Who belongs to God?
Short answer: The earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness, even those following other religions; let your light grow and shine before men.
▶ 29:08 You you have to be willing to receive. Him. Amen we are the temple of God no matter who you are remember the scriptures say that the earth is the Lord and all of its fullness and all those who dwell therein even those who are following other religions and following other gods they belong to him their bodies were created for him to dwell in and what God gives us is a choice are we going to allow him to come in and dwell in us or are we going to reject him it’s as simple as that Matthew 5:14 you are the light of the world a lamp stamp and and it gives light to all who are in the house let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven grow is like a light he says that you are the light of the world you may start as a little candle light and you might oh hey he’s a Christian he’s got Jesus in him I can’t can’t I can’t see very much with that candle like can you get it a little brighter for.
▶ 30:11 Me you may start as a little candlelight but you got to let God grow in you you got to let his light grow in you amen let your light so. Shine so it’s talking about an increase in shining amen. Before men that they may see your good works and you want them to see from afar so that’s why you keep getting brighter and brighter and brighter you want to be an example to those who are in the house of God and also for the whole wide. World our goal is to be like him and God will accept you in whatever state you are but don’t quit don’t give up and grow letting your light grow and shine brighter there’s a scripture for that brighter and brighter until the perfect day I can’t remember the whole thing but it’s true so is there room that’s our go that’s God’s question you were made for God to dwell in you we were made for Christ to form in us it may begin small but God wants to grow and become bigger you are the light in the house of God you are a light to the world for people to see and give glory to God.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 24:1 (NKJV)
The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.
— Psalm 24:1 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 29:08Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 30:11Will Jesus pass us by?
Short answer: He would have passed the disciples by; if you don’t want Him, He will compel others to come in so His house is filled.
▶ 31:29 Amen mark chapter 6 verse 48 Jesus was walking on the sea and would have passed them by so here they come to the end they knock on the door and they get rejected and so Jesus if if you remember what we’ve been talking about Jesus was walking on the sea and the disciples saw him and it says he would have passed them by this in this hotel let the king of kings pass them. By the king of kings could have been born in their hotel and therein and they rejected. Him I mean wouldn’t you like that kind of status we are the place that had Jesus the son of God born you know that stable is probably all mowed over and you can’t find it I don’t know if they have it or not you know I’m not going to go into that but the end let Jesus pass by and people are letting Jesus pass by in their lives and he is knocking on your door he is calling and we’ve got to hear his voice amen Luke.
▶ 32:46 14:22 the servant said to the master master it is done as you commanded and still there is room and Christ in this parable he says go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in that my house may be filled if you don’t want God he’s going to find someone he’s looking for people to respond he I don’t you know if the end doesn’t work go to the stable maybe they’ll. Listen yeah I know they’re dirty and I know but I can change all that I that’s fine go to the highways and the hedges get anybody willing to come see that that’s how God looks at you you may look at yourself as somebody who is lowly and this and that and negative because the Devil comes in and he tries to put you.
Scripture in this part
Mark 6:48 (NKJV)
Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by.
— Mark 6:48 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 31:29Luke 14:22-23 (NKJV)
And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
— Luke 14:22-23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 32:46How does Christ see you?
Short answer: He sees something beautiful and values you more than anyone; we are His inheritance.
▶ 33:38 Down but Christ sees something beautiful in you and he values you more than anyone else in the world you remember he says that we are his inheritance the whole reason why he died on the cross the whole reason why this world has been put into motion the whole reason why the earth spins is because he set this up so that he could have an inheritance that’s you that’s. Me you are of the utmost importance to.
Why was there no room?
Short answer: Like the full inn, if anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
▶ 34:18 Christ 1 John 2:15 do not love the world or anything in the world if anyone loves the world love for the father is not in them for every in the world the lust of the flesh lust of the eyes the pride of life comes not from the father but from the world the world and its desire passes away but whoever does the will of God lives forever and I’m saying this very quickly but you got to understand this in they let Jesus pass by but the end was filled with who the world and they were doing their job I’m using an an example okay they didn’t do anything wrong but it’s an example that God is bringing to us in your life you can fill your life with the world you can fill your life with the worldly influence you can fill your life with the worldly message and Jesus comes and he comes to knock on your door and speak and you have a choice are you going to let his words in his words of life are you going to let him in to be born in your heart or you going to keep and hold on to the world and that’s what this is talking about do not love the world or anything in the world you see we want to hold on to the world.
▶ 35:29 And what he’s saying is if you want to hold on to the world just like this in just like this hotel the love for the love for the father is not in you Jesus couldn’t come in to the in to the couldn’t come into the hotel why because they wanted the world and that’s what happens to us we love the world so much that we kick God right out now God is is standing on the outside and he looks at you and I he loves you he still gave his life for you but the love isn’t in. You and if his love isn’t in you how can you do his will because it says whoever does his will will live forever we are capable of bringing all kinds of words teachings and doctrines into our heart that are not from God the end was full of everything other than Christ.
▶ 36:33 The world wants to draw you away from God it’s trying to draw you away from spending time in his house time on your knees hearing his word and lifting up and praising his name and he names them here the lust of the flesh lust of the eyes pride of life that doesn’t come from God but it comes from the world so it’s important that we recognize what are we filled with Romans 12:2 do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind see that’s very important have we let the world take over are we conforming to the world and its customs are we conforming to our our fleshly lust and what we want to do yeah we got to eat yeah we got to have certain needs met but we don’t need to go overboard and and fulfill all those things that make us feel good that are outside of his boundary whoever does the will of God lives forever if you want to live forever we got to start thinking about what is the will of God what does God want me to do and one of his wills is that you allow him to come in and allow him to be born in you allow him to start shining in your house you got to remember his light his light penetrates his light penetrates every area.
Scripture in this part
1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV)
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
— 1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 34:18What is His light like?
Short answer: Like the sun when He walks in: powerful and exposing. What are you full of, the world or God’s word and Spirit?
▶ 37:57 His light uh it’s a different kind of light you know we turn this light on it’s nice but his light is he walks in and boom he’s just it’s it’s amazing it’s powerful his light and as it grows it’s like the sun you walk out your life you got to find some shade because it’s exposing and it’s it’s doing. Things John 15 chter 4 abide in me and I in you the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine so this just goes back to the end and how they rejected Jesus Christ coming in and God is asking us. Finally are we allowing him to come in if we do not let him in we can’t bear fruit by ourselves that is his point.
▶ 38:55 So what are we full of have you filled your life with the world and its influence its teachings are you filling your heart and mind with God’s word and his spirit God has he has to put his spirit in you that’s his covenant if we listen and we ask him to breathe his word into us he has to do it it’s his covenant and he can’t break his covenant but we have to keep our end of the bargain and that is to hear and respond to his word if you close your spiritual ears and that’s the same thing as clo holding your spiritual breath you’re rejecting his covenant the wise men as we quoted at the beginning of this service in Matthew chap 2:.
What was the second response?
Short answer: Seeking: wise men came from a far place to worship, overcoming their excuses.
▶ 39:46 1 it says after Jesus was born wise men came from the east they came to Jerusalem and they said where is he who has been born king of the Jews for we have seen his star in the east and come to worship him you got to understand they came from a far place they when they started their journey they they got everything that they needed to overcome all the obstacles to overcome the distance to overcome the the the the terrain that they had to go through they made preparations and what these men are showing us is that first of all they are wise do you want to be wise secondly they didn’t let anything keep them from their destination you know I I read a comment recently where it says somebody said oh I did this and and God didn’t work in my life well is that is that how these men are responding to God they’re not letting anything keep them from God there’s no obstacle they’re not.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 2:1-2 (NKJV)
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
— Matthew 2:1-2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 39:46Will Christ turn away those who come?
Short answer: No; you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life, but he who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
▶ 40:51 Overcoming and again go Christ says that he’s going to help us overcome. You’re not alone but these men had an attitude to come and overcome everything to overcome all of their own. Excuses and they’re looking for. Him John 5:40 you but you are not willing to come to me that you may have life Jesus Christ it says he says I am the way the truth and the life and at that time time the Pharisees and the Sadducees were rejecting him and he’s saying you’re not willing to come to me that you may have life I’m right here it’s your golden opportunity I’m right here standing before you and you won’t come to me and have life and us Americans do the same thing we have every opportunity we have every piece of technology we have all there’s no excuse for us to come to Jesus Christ we we have every opportunity there’s nothing stopping us we’re not living in some remote country where there’s no access to anything no access to transportation or or this or that we have everything we need and still we won’t come to.
▶ 42:15 Jesus John chapter 6:37 all that the father gives me will come to me and those who come he who comes to me I will by no means cast out. Christ Jesus is offering you life and he will not turn any away that come to him so it’s important to come to you come to. Christ in your life when you go this week this next year coming up are you going to make time in your schedule to come to Jesus you know some people say what does that mean come to Jesus well come to his house come to to him on your knees come to him with your mouth speak sing praise him you got to use what God has given. You to come to him where is your attitude.
Scripture in this part
John 5:40 (NKJV)
But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
— John 5:40 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 40:51John 6:37 (NKJV)
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
— John 6:37 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:15How do we seek Jesus?
Short answer: Like the two disciples who asked where He was staying and remained with Him; and repent, which simply means turn.
▶ 43:12 John 1:37 the two disciples followed Jesus and Jesus said to him what do you seek and they said where are you staying and they came and saw where he was staying and remained with him that day they kept meeting with Jesus they followed him they were looking for him in your life are you looking for Christ do you. Seek. Jesus Matthew 4:12 Jesus dwelt in Capernaum to. Fulfill the scripture that says the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light and his message was in in the next verse he says repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand this great light for all the world to see this great light this wonderful thing what’s the first thing he says he says what.
▶ 44:10 Repent and that simply means to. Turn right now you’re headed toward the world you’re headed toward following the world and and the lust of flesh the pride of life the lust of the eyes you’re you’re doing all that really well it’s time to turn from that. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand it’s it’s near you it’s available you can reach it it’s right. Scripture in this part
John 1:37-39 (NKJV)
The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are You staying?” He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).
— John 1:37-39 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:12Matthew 4:17 (NKJV)
From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
— Matthew 4:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 44:10What if we aren’t seeking Him?
Short answer: Then it’s time to make Christ a priority.
▶ 45:19 Truth and so God is asking us this morning are we coming to Jesus are we searching for him are we looking for him are we setting our hearts to become worshippers of Christ if the answer is no it’s time to start making some priorities for Christ it’s time to start making Christ a priority it’s time to start making what he wants a priority in your life Luke. 2:12 the shepherds said to one another let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass which the Lord has made known to us now you know this is the famous chapter and the famous verse well the angels show up to the shepherds and they say you know do not be. Afraid. Right and they talk about how a a savior who is Christ Lord has been born in Bethlehem and their response could have been oh turn off the tv let’s go back to.
What was the third response?
Short answer: The shepherds didn’t go back to sleep; they said let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing the Lord has made known.
▶ 46:19 Sleep it could have been oh my gosh that’s so wonderful angels I I’ve seen an angel. Going back to sleep now it’s important to know what is the message if you’ve seen an angel if you’ve seen God like you say you have what is the what message and how are you going to respond to that. Message and this is what the shepherds did they went to. Bethlehem are we willing to go are we willing to take time out of what we’re doing to go where Jesus is and Jesus is in his house he’s here today he’s at church’s uh he says I’m going to build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail we’ve got to be in his house that’s where he’s.
▶ 47:17 At go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass which the Lord has made known to us God wants to make some things known to you he wants you to understand some things he wants to reveal some things unto you but we have to. Respond just like they responded to these angels when they had seen him they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this child and all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told but them by the shepherds it is important for us Christians if we’re going to follow and go and see where Jesus is and go and meet with Jesus the next step is is to go and share what has been made known to us and this is for me too you know I have a responsibility to make known to this city and to this country into this.

Luke 2:15 (NKJV)
So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”
— Luke 2:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:17Are we responding to God’s message?
