The Signs Written so we may Believe and have Life— March 14, 2021: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Pastor David G. Kincer teaches that signs are written so belief can grow. Jesus was born to an engaged virgin and had a stepfather, step-siblings and a single-parent home, so He identifies with broken families and troubled pasts. Whatever your past, He can change you. The service closes with communion and prayer for healing.
Who inherits the earth?
Short answer: The meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
▶ 0:01 Good morning. We’re getting started right away we’re going to start this morning with our scripture reading. And we’re going to take a few moments in prayer this morning so please prepare your hearts. Psalms 37 says rest in the Lord wait patiently for him do not fret because of him who prospers in his way. Fret means be hot be furious to burn become angry don’t get angry about it when you see the world prospering in their way because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass we see that in our day wicked schemes are coming to pass cease from anger forsake wrath do not fret it only causes harm or evildoers shall be cut off and that’s what we want we want them to come to nothing their goals to come to nothing their efforts to come to nothing and that’s what we’re looking for in our country but those who wait on the Lord.
▶ 1:06 Shall inherit the earth and the earth is God’s to give for you a little while and the wicked shall be no more they’ll come to nothing their efforts their goals will come to nothing communism socialism that stuff will come to nothing that’s what we want what we want to see. Indeed you will look carefully for this place for his place but it shall be no more but the me shall inherit the earth I was reminded in the scriptures that Moses was the meekest man in the Bible and mogus stood he stood against the government of Egypt and he stood against the people that wanted to sin and we need to stand against both in our day the government the united states and the church that wants to go to sin we’ve got to stand for truth and what is right.
▶ 2:02 They shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace that’s what we want that was a very comforting scripture the abundance of peace. Not being attacked. Peace in God because he’s in control he is strong he’s powerful people have submitted to him and his rulership so this morning let’s take a few moments. In prayer bowing our heads. Let’s pray that the wicked schemes would come to nothing. Let’s pray that the church would bring forth righteousness as life and justice says the new day like it says that the church would inherit the earth and have peace let’s lift up our voices this morning God Lord we come and pray this morning God Lord Jesus that the church God Lord inherit would inherit the earth Jesus God Lord you said you fill your church and nothing would stand against it God the gates of hell will not stand.

Scripture in this part
Psalm 37:10-11 (NKJV)
For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
— Psalm 37:10-11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:06Where does faith come from?
Short answer: By hearing God’s word; following moral Bible principles keeps you from addictions.
▶ 30:01 Good morning everyone thank you for coming to worship Jesus with us pray with us and hear and obey his where we are taking our texts out of John chapter 20 verse 30. Many other signs did Jesus in the presence of his disciples. Sign. Demonstrations supernatural events. Which are not written in this book what book the gospel of John. But these are written in this book the gospel of John so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name so the purpose of the gospel of John. And all the signs listed in the gospel of John and the Bible says faith comes by hearing God’s word.
▶ 31:02 See you you can put your faith in anything you hear but this kind of faith comes by hearing God’s word the gospel of Christ the truth and that will cause faith to rise within you to believe that Jesus is the messiah the anointed one promised to come the Christ and not only that he is the only begotten conceived son of God the only human being on earth that did not have a natural father. And. The end result of that belief is you may have life and God offers two lives one a new heaven a new earth where we live with him forever and ever and ever. And the second one is the life here on this earth.
▶ 31:57 When you follow the moral Bible principles. You don’t have to get into intoxication and addictions and and the bad judgments that come with it when you follow the Bible morals you don’t have to worry about catching a sexually transmitted disease or anything like that to ruin your life when you follow God’s principles you will have a very successful healthy and blessed life now in this age and in the age to come eternal life on a new heaven and a new earth with Jesus Christ isn’t that powerful and that’s why the gospel of John was written.
Scripture in this part
Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
— Romans 10:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 31:02What did Peter say?
Short answer: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God — revealed by the Father.
▶ 32:42 Okay then we go to Matthew 16:17 and we find the same thing Peter said you are the Christ the son of the living God just like John said his book was written for and Jesus told Peter flesh and blood has not revealed that to you Peter but my father which is in heaven see faith comes by hearing the word of God and the Revelation and the understanding comes by God opening those scriptures up to you amen and that’s what Christians call being born again the spirit comes and works in our life it’s not a mental thing it’s not a human thing it is a God doing a supernatural work and salvation. From our sins and inheriting eternal life is one of the greatest supernatural.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 16:16-17 (NKJV)
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
— Matthew 16:16-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 32:42Why does God give signs?
Short answer: The more signs He reveals, the more belief builds — from faith to faith.
▶ 33:36 Signs God gives us so the more signs God reveals the more belief builds our faith we go from faith to faith the Bible says see from glory to glory we’re growing the kingdom is a growing process. So today in this session 4 we’re going to look at the signs written in the gospel of John. That we may believe that Jesus is the Christ the son of God and possess the life that now is and the life to come let’s take a look at these. Signs. We’re going to take them from Luke chapter 1 through 4. And we’re going to. Go past the shepherds seeing angels and all that and the wise men coming and elizabeth and John we’re going to pass all that and we’re going to come to mary we’re going to stick with the Jesus thing today.
How was Jesus born?
Short answer: Of an engaged virgin, which brought shame on the family.
▶ 34:45 He was born of an engaged virgin. She was engaged to be married but she wasn’t married and here she is pregnant. Now you can just see the people in the community rumoring you know they start counting the months well let’s see here now her first baby was born six months after the wedding ah something’s a much care okay. His birth created a gossip. Chain. All right and even Christians just love to gossip. Secondly and and that reminds us see his his supernatural birth reminds us that we are born again see if if God can conceive Christ in a woman who had not had sexual relationships with a man then he can birth us again make us a new creature all things passed away all things made new amen.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 1:18 (NKJV)
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
— Matthew 1:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 34:45What did He know at twelve?
Short answer: The Scriptures.
▶ 35:46 It brings that kind of faith. At 12 years old he knew the scriptures. Now folks that tells you he was God there is no way a human being on earth can know the scriptures and not only did he know the scriptures he was confounding the priests and the scribes in the temple with what he knew see he wrote the Old Testament. These churches say the Old Testament in for us today who do you think wrote the Old Testament. Jesus wrote the Old Testament. He knew it because he wrote it amen. And that reminds us of the new covenant that he will inscribe his laws in our minds in our hearts see these people say we’re not under law we’re under grace well why did God inscribe his laws in our minds and in hearts if we’re not under them.
▶ 36:47 You see. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction for every false assumption there’s a equal and opposite truth. Can I hear an amen hallelujah. Number three he knew God was his father at age 12. He knew. That God himself was his father and that speaks to us in John chapter 17 verse 3 this is eternal life that you might know the only true God and Jesus Christ his son you see no an intimate relationship not just hearing about him you have an experience with the only true God and his son Jesus Christ hallelujah.
Scripture in this part
Luke 2:46-47 (NKJV)
Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
— Luke 2:46-47 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 35:46Did Jesus have a troubled home?
Short answer: He had a stepfather and step-siblings; Joseph died and He lived in a single-parent home, so He understands broken homes.
▶ 37:43 So we can know God ourself and we can know Jesus Christ his son. Then we take note that he had a stepfather. Now. The title from here on is this a troubled past. Does not trouble Jesus Christ. Your troubled past your messed up past does not bother Jesus Christ at all. He had a stepfather see we a lot of us have been birthed by a mother out of wedlock. We have to put up with the saying you’re just a little bee we have had to hear that stuff you see he was not only the perfect sacrifice sinless lamb he was the one that experienced everything that we experience.
▶ 38:49 And so his past shows us that he knows why we have difficulties and troubles because he was lived through the same kind of problems that we are living with. A lot of step parents whether it’s a mother or a father. Abuse. The children verbally. Emotionally mentally and physically. And a lot of you out there. In facebook land and in America. You’ve been in a home. That’s been broken. And you have to live with a step parent of one side or the other and you have had to live with the abuse.
▶ 39:44 Even to a sexual abuse by that. Non-biological. Parent. Fifth. Joseph his stepfather died. Now he’s in a single-parent home. Just the mother is in the home. And half of the children out there in America today are in a single-parent home 44 percent to be exact. Born out of wedlock. Living with one biological parent. And it creates problems.
Can He identify with us?
Short answer: Yes; He understands your troubled past and you can be a joint heir with Christ.
▶ 40:39 It creates problems in America created problems back then but Jesus went through these things so he could identify stand before the father and argue your case. And change your life amen he understands where you are at he understands your past your troubled past and it doesn’t trouble him at all you can be joint heirs with Christ with all the promises of God amen no matter what your past has been because he can identify with you he understands. He had step siblings and at the beginning they mocked at him huh you want to go down make a name for yourself oh yeah see. You’ve had to live with steps siblings.
▶ 41:33 A lot of you. Created problems in the home created problems in your life they didn’t like the other parents children. Number six he worked as a carpenter he was not a doctor he was not a lawyer. He was not an engineer. Okay. He. Did not go to Bible school and become a minister. He didn’t go to the temple and become a priest. He was a carpenter. Just a normal everyday job. Until he was 30 years old he worked. A lot of you out there. Did not take education seriously.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV)
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
— Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 40:39What do bad choices lead to?
Short answer: Not studying leads to menial work and poverty — but God can change you.
▶ 42:28 You didn’t really study and learn. You went through high school. You know partying drinking and just socializing and having fun you just set in class and really never learned much at all and the public school just passed you along. They just passed you along. A lot of you can’t even comprehend the english language. To figure out simple stuff. Because you never learned that in school you never gave. The time and the effort and the work. And so you’re working at menial jobs if you did go to college you dropped out because you couldn’t. Do the studies you couldn’t you’d you didn’t learn before and you can’t learn in college so 60 of you dropped out of college.
▶ 43:31 So you become menial. Workers. And that leads to poverty. That leads to doing without. But I’m here to tell you today. Christ understands your troubled path and it doesn’t trouble him at all he can make you a new creature and if you follow him he will change your life both in the natural and in the spiritual realm hallelujah. That’s the supernatural work that God can do. That’s above healing the sick and raising the dead. Forty days he had no food or drink. Forty days he was tempted by Satan as the musicians come.
▶ 44:29 You say that was fast. Yeah God’s doing a quick work in the last days no. We want some time for God to touch our lives okay. When a woman with the issue of blood touched him he said who touched me they said everybody’s touching you he said no no no somebody touched me with a heart a response of heart and virtue flowed out of me unto them. And we need to touch God. Amen that virtue that power flowing from him unto us and so. He was tempted by Satan. Now I know you guys don’t go 40 days without food and drink you’re lucky to go 40 hours.
Was Jesus tested?
Short answer: Tempted by Satan, who departed for a season.
▶ 45:27 But the thing here is he was tempted and tested of Satan and when Satan was done the Bible says Satan left him for a season. So obviously there were seasons when Satan came back to test and tempt Jesus are you there. And you guys know this is true of you Satan comes into your life your troubled past and he makes partying and drinking and socializing and sex and everything so appealing and so appetizing just have fun fun fun and we give in to him and his seductive ways and we bring pain and anguish in our life isn’t that true. And see Jesus was tempted the same way and tested the same way.
▶ 46:26 So he could identify with you and bring you out of your troubles past because he had a troubled past just like you. Isn’t that beautiful see God’s got all the bases covered. He really does. You remember the parable of the sower. See this is how Satan works. The seed on the pathway. The birds came and picked it up Jesus said that Satan taken the word out of your heart that’s what he likes to do if he can’t keep you from hearing the word. See he don’t want you to become sensitive in that word grow he wants to come and take it out you know it’s not really real he started you start listening to the evolutionists and these other people you know the Bible’s just a book of faith and he comes and robs that that that word out of your heart.
Scripture in this part
Luke 4:13 (NKJV)
Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
— Luke 4:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 45:27What chokes the word?
Short answer: Stony ground and thorns — people who don’t love God.
▶ 47:30 Then there’s a seed on the stony ground. Where it takes root and grows but when the sun comes up when the tribulation and the testing comes. It dies. You see he brings the testings and he brings the tribulation and the troubles and if you don’t have your root in Jesus Christ if you don’t follow on see if you don’t continue in the word he don’t want you reading the word he don’t want you praying he don’t want you going to church he don’t want you doing these things that God is encouraging to do because he knows that if he can get you not to do them you will die. Amen and then there’s the ones but in the tares. The tares of the children of the wicked one you see God says come out from among them and be you separate but you want to hang with those old friends or you want to hang with new friends at work or whatever.
▶ 48:34 That don’t love God and they do bad things and they choke out the word that you don’t bring forth fruit you’re just a verbal Christian without any fruit because you still identify. With the people of the world are you there this is how Satan works. But Jesus wants to put you on good ground. You hear the word you obey the word you grow in the word and you bring forth fruit in the world amen and he can do that because he experienced all of this. And when you come to him he understands and he will fight for you work for you and empower you to be a new creature. Your past is erased.
Scripture in this part
Mark 4:16-19 (NKJV)
These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble. Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
— Mark 4:16-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:30Can your past prohibit you?
Short answer: No — gang member, disease or whatever, your past doesn’t disqualify you.
▶ 49:28 In heaven when you come to him so don’t be looking back on your past nothing can prohibit you from inheriting everything God has given you. I don’t care what your trouble is whether. A broken home. Whether sexual immorality you may molest it as a child. Whether you are a runaway or a castaway there’s millions of them in America. Children. Running from foster parents running from bad parents or just thrown out. By parents who don’t want them anymore. Whether you are a gang and you’re violent or you may not be in a gang you’re just a bully you’re just a you’re just a violent bully person you just push yourself around everybody.
▶ 50:35 God. Understands and he can heal that and deliver that in your life that doesn’t hinder you from becoming a good Christian and a new person in Christ Jesus. Then there’s the drugs the marijuana the alcohol. The prescription drugs as well as the illegal drugs destroying your life causing you to make bad judgment a lot of you’ve been addicted a lot of you are. Are. Addicted to alcohol and don’t even know it addicted to drugs and you don’t even know it. A lot of you are addicted and it shows anybody can look at you and know you got. A drug abuse problem a substance abuse problem that doesn’t bother God he can deliver everything.
▶ 51:34 You see we have sex and we mess around we get venereal diseases. God can change your life and make you new. And it’s these signs it’s these miracles. Even more amen you grow in belief as God works these things in your life we’re going to take communion this morning. And as we take communion we’re just going to ask God. To let there be a performance. Of that which was spoken for nothing is impossible with. God. You bring your past to Jesus. You bring your troubled life to Jesus.
What does communion remind us?
Short answer: His death, burial and resurrection; His body was broken for you.
▶ 52:29 This communion the Bible says reminds us of his death burial and resurrection his blood that cleanses from all sin his covenant. That he will finish the good work he begun in. Your. Mary when she found out she was going to have a child without knowing a man she just simply said this. Let there be a performance of that which was spoken as we take communion this morning. I submit to you surrender your past to Jesus. Jesus said as many as coming to me I will no wise cast out I don’t care how bad you think your life has been you might have aborted babies.
▶ 53:22 You might have killed someone being a gang member I don’t care what your past is. Your past doesn’t bother Jesus Christ he is inviting you to come to himself and he will change your past so you bring your past to him this morning and you sing this with us so pray this with us Jesus I come to you I surrender my past to you come and live in my life let there be a performance of those things which were spoken as they sing let’s just pray and ask Jesus to do. This. According to thy word.
▶ 54:17 My heart. Responds. Performance. According. To thy word.
▶ 55:12 My heart. Responds. To thee. Let there be. A. Performance. That. Wish was spoken. For nothing. Is. Impossible. With God. Jesus took the bread. On the night that he was betrayed. And he broke it. And he broke it again.
▶ 56:08 12 times. Given each apostle a piece of that bread and he said this is my body which was broken for you divided for you each one of you can have. Me in you each one of you can have God in you. This body is also the many membered body of Christ the church. And he tells us not to offend. Not to hurt any member of the body of Christ. Father we pray right now. That you come to each one of us and reveal to us the power. Of partaking of this bread.
▶ 57:02 And identifying with. The body of Christ that was bruised. Nailed and pierced. You took all the plane. All the pain all the blame so we wouldn’t have to go through that. You took all the shame. And Lord you. Come and you dwell in us. And today as we take this bread Lord just reveal that to us. That we are a member of the many-membered body of Christ. And he lives in us. And because he lives there is nothing that is not impossible for us to do.
▶ 57:56 Thank you Lord Jesus. Let’s eat the bread. Together. Likewise he took the cup. And he’s this is his words. This cup. Is the new covenant not a symbol. This cup is the new covenant in my blood I shed my blood to sign the contract that if you would believe that I am the Christ the son of God I will give you life here and I will give you eternal life in the age to come I will do that and you sign the contract by getting water baptized.
▶ 59:06 Saying Lord I accept your gospel I accept your promise I sign your contract. So no matter what sin we have no matter what we’ve done in our past today. As we take this cup. Just let the blood of Christ wash away everything. Let the blood of Christ wash away everything and just accept his covenant that he will perform that which he promised in your life. Father we thank you for shedding your blood. And letting this cup remind us of the your death that bought us with a price and we’re not our own anymore. And you will take care of us you will protect us and you will.
▶ 1:00:02 Cause us to grow. Into a tremendous light to this world we thank you father that your words are true and faithful let’s drink the cup together. Be it under. Me. I surrender to you I surrender my past to you. I surrender my sins to you. Let there. Be.
▶ 1:01:01 Spoken. For nothing for nothing is. Impossible with. God. Is. Impossible. For nothing is. Impossible. With God. I have. Ready. To.
▶ 1:01:56 Surrender. Every. Year. Lord I mean. To me. You. There. Are. Jesus. Every leave.
▶ 1:02:58 Me. Closer. Lord I need. To. Bringing sin. Leave me. Closer to me.
▶ 1:03:56 To. I. Am. Take my hand now. Leave me closer. Lord I need. To meet You. There. Come and join us.
▶ 1:04:52 In the river. Come find. Life. He is calling. He is waiting. In these waters. In these walls here it. Is.
▶ 1:06:00 Jesus we come for the healing. We come to the healing of your river of life. Here it is. Healing. Mercy let him heal you this day. I’m going to you Jesus. I’m coming to your river of life to heal me Lord I need.

1 Corinthians 11:24 (NKJV)
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
— 1 Corinthians 11:24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 56:08Who shall be saved?
Short answer: He who believes and is baptized; signs follow.
▶ 1:09:46 They that believe and are baptized shall be saved. They that believe not shall be damned and that’s because they haven’t let God reveal that faith reveal that belief see it just dies along the roadside. Or on the ground. Rocks. And these signs shall follow them that believe. If you watch any tv program or listen to any radio program. About christianity. They’re going to imply. That the man of God or the woman of God is the only one that can pray for you and bring. Healing to you and solve the problems of your life because they have some special connection with God that is the implication and some of them just flat out say it.
▶ 1:10:46 And in America we have been brainwashed to believe that but the scriptures don’t say that. It says these signs shall follow them that believe why because we learned that God put that faith in us God reveals these things to us and if we are a believer. We can go to God and ask for healing from our past as for healing for our physical body as for healing for our financial problems as for healing for anything we as a believer because God put it in us. And he said that we can come to his throne of grace we as an individual can come to his throne of grace that we might obtain mercy to help us in our time of need our time of trouble we ourself can come to him we don’t need some mega church pastor or some mega book author what we need to understand is we as believers have the authority and the confidence it says come before the throne of grace confidently boldly come confidently come no and he will hear your prayer.
▶ 1:12:06 And meet your need. Now that doesn’t mean we still don’t lay hands on people and all that but it does mean that you don’t have to wait on nobody and you don’t need any pastor any evangelist any minister you just need Jesus Christ. And I challenge you today let’s just lay hands on ourself in closing. Laying on of hands we can lay hands on ourself and ask Jesus to heal whether it’s physical healing mental healing emotional healing spiritual healing healing from sin healing from the past whatever it is. Healing for. Angry countenance an angry tongue a stubborn heart whatever. Let’s just ask Jesus right now because he said in his covenant that all of us could know him from the least to the greatest we can come directly to him father.
▶ 1:13:08 We take time right now wherever we’re at in our homes watching this on the internet or whether here in the sanctuary Lord we lay our hands on ourself and we ask you to heal Lord this need that we brought to you today we come boldly today we come confidently. Today Lord that you hear us. Because you put the faith in our heart you put the belief in our heart. And we ask you to heal us Lord heal us from these past things heal us from these present things heal us from tomorrow’s things just put a a a hedge around about us like you did job Lord for tomorrow’s problems. Today’s problems and the healing of the past. And we ask these things father that you do them in the name of your son Jesus as you asked us to do the name of Jesus the name above every name.
▶ 1:14:10 We ask you father to heal us and we accept it we receive it this new life this new anointing this new power that flows from you to us. Amen. And amen hallelujah. Start walking in your new life start talking in your new life as mike comes to close the service. Let’s buy our heads and pray this morning and ask Paul to come up and pray for the offering. Precious. Jesus. I am ready.
▶ 1:15:06 To. Surrender. Here. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name amen amen. We don’t thank you for joining us this morning. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
