From the sermonThe New Testament Promise of the Holy Spirit · Pastor David G. Kincer▶ 0:00

Pastor David G. Kincer shows that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to all who thirst, believe and ask—the Comforter, the Spirit of truth and power. He traces the fulfillment through the signs of Mark 16, the day of Pentecost, and later outpourings in Acts, and explains tongues of men and angels and Paul’s “forbid not to speak in tongues.”

What did Jesus promise those who thirst?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: John 7:37–39: if anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink; whoever believes, out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water—spoken of the Spirit, not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified. The same belief that brings everlasting life (John 3:16) receives the Holy Spirit.

▶ 0:00 In the Bible today we’re going to be talking about the New Testament promise of the Holy Spirit to all followers everybody it’s not just for pentecostals and charismatics it is for. Everybody and we’re going to see the fulfillment of these promises in the scriptures. Okay Jesus himself promises the Holy Ghost to all followers in John 7:37 if anyone Jesus said thirst number one we need to thirst thirst is what you feel when you don’t have water or liquids which is necessary for the sustaining of life if anyone thirst not for natural water but for spiritual water you see we need a thirst if you got a thirst a hunger a desire in your heart for spiritual things for Jesus that is a good thing even if you haven’t been quenched that that desire that thirst is a god-given.

▶ 1:10 Thing anyone that’s thirsty let him come to me okay we come to who Jesus. Christ we come to. Jesus and drink of Jesus and how are we going to drink what’s he going to do he who who believes in me as the scripture said out of their innermost being will flow rivers of living. Water you see you have a spirit that lives within you your body will die will go to the grave it will rot go back to dust but your spirit will live. Forever okay and out of your innermost being out of that real spirit that you are that spirit of man is going to flow rivers not river but rivers. Different streams.

▶ 2:04 Of living water now he’s going to quench our thirst and this is what he’s saying this he spoke concerning the Spirit so how’s he going to quench our thirst by giving us the spirit. Okay whom those believing in him should receive I am amazed at how people will quote John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes on. Him and the results of believing you shall not perish but have everlasting life and then they come to this same statement whoever believes will receive the Holy Spirit they’ll come to the same state statement if you believe something is going to happen here it is an everlasting life it is living waters that quenches your spiritual.

▶ 3:11 Thirst amen and he spoke it is the baptism of the Holy Ghost which was not yet given because Christ had not died on the cross and rose from the grave again bringing him glory and honor are you with me it’s amazing how how Christians take scriptures and just twist them to their own opinion now if we believe and we get everlasting life will that same belief according to Jesus get us filled with the Holy Spirit same belief same belief all right now you got to remember these people are already seeing.

Scripture (NKJV)

John 7:37-39 (NKJV)

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Is receiving the Holy Spirit a matter of faith or an event?

▶ Watch this part (3:54)

Short answer: He says the apostles were healing and preaching yet hadn’t received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which was poured out after Jesus ascended. The Holy Spirit is not just a thing of faith; it is an experience, a happening.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:54 Miracles they had apostles these apostles had been healing the sick casting demons preaching the gospel people were getting saved things were happening but the apostles and these people and Jesus’s followers still had not received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and he tells us why because God was going to pour it out on all flesh after he died rose from the grave and ascended back into heaven until his glory his honor was complete then he would pour out his spirit on everybody got it it’s very clear it’s not complicated at all don’t go to the Bible with your opinions and try to get the scriptures to fit in go with an open mind and let the spirit guide you into all truth now that was a good statement. Hallelujah now this is a coming event this is a coming h this thing is going to happen the Holy Spirit isn’t a thing of faith it is a an experience it is a happening.

Scripture (NKJV)

John 16:13 (NKJV)

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Will God give the Holy Spirit to those who ask?

▶ Watch this part (5:00)

Short answer: Luke 11:11–13: if you, being evil, give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. “You have not because you ask not,” and ask amiss for selfish things. Thirst, come to Jesus the baptizer, and keep on asking.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 5:00 It is an event now in Luke 11 he says if you pointing to those that were listening to his word if you being evil you know all have sinned and come short of the glory of God do you agree with that you’re not perfect yeah even after you believe you make mistakes huh yeah if you who make mistakes and do harm know how to give good gifts to your children and he explains it you know no no normal person if your kid wants a piece of bread you’re going to give him a stone okay what’s he saying well God isn’t going to give you an ice cube if you ask for the Holy Spirit he’s going to give you the fire of the spirit. Amen all right he’s not going to say no it’s not for you you don’t tell your kid no bread bread’s no good we’re not you’re not getting.

▶ 5:55 Bread you don’t do that they need it and and so how much more will your heavenly father give the what Holy Spirit to them that what. Ask didn’t Jesus say you have not because you ask not and if you do ask I’m sorry Jesus didn’t say it but the apostles said it from Jesus and if you do ask you ask amiss because you’re only asking for things that make you look good and bless you you know a new car and a better job and you know a boyfriend or a girlfriend or whatever. Amen and so we got to ask so we got to thirst we got to come to Jesus who is the baptizer we learned last week Jesus he is the one John said will baptize you in the Holy Ghost so we come to Jesus because we believe the same faith that gets us cleansed and forgiven of sin is the same faith that gets Jesus to come and fill us with his Holy Spirit but we got to ask most Christians do not have asking for the Holy Spirit or wisdom or love in their prayers at.

Who is the Comforter Jesus promised?

▶ Watch this part (7:15)

Short answer: John 14:16–17: I will pray the Father and he will give you another Comforter to abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth. He illustrates one God in three expressions with branches of government, a man who is father, son and worker, and water. The Spirit never opposes scripture; preaching or prophecy against Bible truth is not his.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 7:15 All you’ be shocked at how many people pray from a prayer book that somebody wrote down you know here’s a good prayer and they like it and they do they just after a while they memorize it and they say that prayer the rest of their life. How many know we need to ask for what the Bible says to ask for and we need to keep on asking Jesus said he who ask and keep on asking shall what. Receive. Now John 14:16 here we have the trinity h let’s throw out the word trinity here we have the three parts of God the three. Expressions of God okay I is Jesus Jesus is talking I will pray the father the father is the part of God that usually ministers from heaven the spirit world and Corinthians tells us that he is the authority over everything and even Jesus is under the father’s authority so the structure of the godhead is God Jesus Holy.

▶ 8:33 Spirit got it it’s. Like our government in America we have a congress which would be the Holy Spirit they represent the people the spirit comes to empower you and strengthen you to be successful in this life natural life and the spirit world all right then you have the supreme court the judicial system all judgments being given to who Jesus. Jesus see and then you got the executive branch which is who God they are what one government do we have three governments no we have what one government but there’s three different expressions in that one government so is God I’ll give you another illustration I am a father.

▶ 9:30 I’m also a son and I’m also an individual that works to provide for himself and his family I’m the same person whether you call me when I was in the work world an electronic technician a computer repairman or whether you call me a father because I had children and whether you call me a son because I had a father I’m still the same person yes that make sense yes I’ll give you another illust. Water in liquid form water in ice form water in vapor form is still what. Water it may change its expression but it is still what. Water hallelujah and so we see this in this scripture he the father will give you another.

▶ 10:27 Comforter all right that he the comforter may abide with you forever these people that say I lost the spirit you can grieve the Spirit you know but what did David pray after he sin take not your Holy Spirit from me the spirit comes to abide with you forever you have to walk away from him you. Understand you know don’t say the spirit run off from you just say hey I ran off from the spirit he’s there for you forever in every situation and then he explains who the comforter is the spirit of what truth now when somebody preaches and say that’s the word of God how many you know the Bible says that the scriptures are spirit so the scriptures are then what truth truth because the spirit is a spirit of truth the spirit will never denounce Christ it will never it will never oppose anything in the Scriptures.

▶ 11:33 Because it’s a spirit of truth and so when preachers preach things that aren’t truth and saying it’s the spirit it’s not God’s spirit that’s your spirit you man when people. Prophesy and it goes against Bible truth it’s not what the spirit of truth they can say it was the Holy Ghost all they want but the spirit is a spirit of what truth truth it’s a spirit of power and it’s a spirit of truth so God wants to baptize you in truth now who has a problem with being baptized in truth how many know we need truth the truth sets us free the truth heals us the truth causes us to grow come on we need the truth.

How does John 14:18 show the Spirit is Jesus himself?

▶ Watch this part (12:19)

Short answer: John 14:18: I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you. The Comforter coming is Jesus himself, so you can’t divide them; the fullness of the Godhead was in Jesus. He says baptizing in Jesus’ name or in the name of Father, Son and Holy Ghost is the same—quit arguing.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 12:19 Amen. Now I here it is again Jesus Jesus was the expression of God in the flesh who died for us and ascended back in heaven he was the fullness of God in the flesh the Bible says the fullness of the godhead was in Jesus so you know in the pentecostal circles we had an argument about do you baptize in the name of Jesus you baptized in the name of the father and son and the Holy Ghost like it says in in the Matthew listen it doesn’t matter the fullness of the godhead was in Jesus so if you baptized in his name you’re baptized in also in the name of the father and the Holy Ghost if you baptize in the name of the father son and the Holy Ghost you’re baptizing in the name of Jesus quit arguing and let’s move on could that be an amen and then we separate make the denominations over silly things really silly.

▶ 13:21 Things I Jesus will not leave you comfortless oh wow now look at this I’m he’s he’s going to prove to you that he is the Holy Ghost and he is God right here I will not leave you comfortless who’s God going to send us another comforter and who’s that comforter the spirit of truth I will not leave you comfortless or as an orphan I will come to. You well up here who did he say was coming to us the spirit of truth up here who down here who does he say is coming to us.

How does Jesus equip those he sends?

▶ Watch this part (14:04)

Short answer: John 20:21–22: as the Father sent me, I send you—receive the Holy Spirit. Luke 24:49: tarry in Jerusalem until endued with power from on high. The Spirit is truth and power, and truth matters most—power is useless if you don’t pay debts or mistreat your spouse.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 14:04 Himself see you can’t separate these guys and divide them into separate individuals they are all three an expression an extension of God and the fullness of the godhead dwells in that man Jesus in the flesh and he also God the father was up in heaven while he was in Jesus in the flesh just like God is in us and he’s still in heaven he can be with us and he can be in heaven at the same time amen John 20:21 as the father has sent me wow what a statement what a statement as the father has sent me here’s the trinity again you know forget the word trinity here is the three expressions of one. God all right.

▶ 14:59 As the father has sent me who sent Jesus God the father in the flesh I also send. You. You receive the Holy Spirit said I’m sending you and I am going to equip you with the Holy Spirit isn’t that. Beautiful Luke 24:49 I send the promise of my father upon you tarry in Jerusalem till you and be endued with power from on high receive the Holy Spirit then he says go and tarry in Jerusalem till I pour it out and we saw in John that he wasn’t going to pour it out until he ascended into heaven so go and wait for the promise and what’s the promise the Holy Spirit are you with me am I talking too.

▶ 15:57 Fast all right the promise is the Holy Spirit you see of my father there is all three of the expressions of God right. There and you’re going to receive power so the spirit is not only truth the spirit is what power now as pentecostals and charismatic we love the power. Part but which is the most important part the truth or the expressions of power. The. Truth and we were so occupied with power healings miracles oh. Yeah that we forgot this Holy Ghost is a baptism of truth.

John 20:21-22 (NKJV)

What signs follow those who believe?

▶ Watch this part (16:51)

Short answer: Mark 16:15–18: preach the gospel to every creature—some will believe and be baptized (salvation the greatest miracle), devils will be cast out (Jesus does it, not us), new tongues, deadly things won’t harm, serpents (Paul’s viper in Acts 28), and the sick recover. Don’t test God by picking up snakes.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 16:51 And then we wouldn’t pay our debts when we left church we [unclear] in church and we go home and not pay our debts. Chew out our husbands chew out our wives beat our wives I mean you know power doesn’t do any good if you’re not living truth mark. 16:15 go ye into all the world now as the father has sent me I send you what did the father equip Jesus with the word and the spirit of power yeah spirit of truth spirit of power he had the word. He had all authority and he says as God sent me I’m sending you I want to come to you and equip you with the power of the spirit of truth the power of the word so go into all the world and preach now look at.

▶ 17:52 This go and preach the gospel to every creature and these signs shall follow them that believe these supernatural events will follow them that believe that is a tremendous promise. Church now how anybody can read this verse and say Jesus is coming in minute just just really challenges my cranial vacuum I just don’t understand how they could even think that way except selfishly they’re wanting to get out of this mess and be instead of being a source to fix the mess. And God wants us to be a source to fix the mess all I hear from people is how bad the world is well we got a promise to change this bad world look at here if we preach the gospel there are going to be supernatural indications that follow the first one is some are going to believe how many you know that salvation is the greatest miracle God does he comes to a knucklehead like me who has got his own goals and his own destiny and everything else and somehow captures him humbles.

▶ 19:03 Him gets him to confess his sins and turn from his sins and come and fills him with his presence and then with his Holy Spirit and just turn that gody that is a tremendous. Miracle and so you’ll see people getting saved they’re going to believe and they’re going to get. Baptized now let me tell you it wasn’t easy for me to get in a publicly in a baptism tank I was a timid shy country boy and man I was I died a thousand deaths getting up there in front of all those people but the presence of God came all over me in that baptism the church I got baptized then just didn’t know what to do didn’t know how to guide me into what God was doing some. Don’t folks not everybody’s going to listen to you don’t get depressed because people reject Christ I rejected him for years before I ever accepted him I’m glad people didn’t give up on me are you with me I did I rejected him for years they’re going to cast out devils casting out devils is a supernatural event I’ve encountered a few in my day okay.

▶ 20:26 And God did grant that let the demon go. Okay we don’t cast out. Demons we pray and Jesus does it are you there yeah but we have the tendency to say I cast out a demon no you didn’t you were there you were the vessel but Jesus did it so stop bragging and getting yourself all built up in some ego that’s a supernatural event new tongues now this is my point if demons can be cast out people can be healed from. Sicknesses he says they will drink deadly thing if they drink deadly things a poison it will not harm them now remember Paul was.

▶ 21:18 Stoned he was killed and he got right back up totally whole now that’s not poison but that’s what poison does and his enemy could have poison the water and back you know even now water you go into certain areas and you drink it you’re in trouble all right but he says hey nothing’s going to happen to you you will take up serpents Paul took up a serpent he went to gather some sticks there was a viper in there the viper came out of the sticks and bit him the people of the island thought oh man he he’s been a evil sinner and God’s caught up with him and he’s going to die cuz they knew that snake and Paul shook the snake off into the fire with the sticks and nothing happened then they go oh my God he’s a God they go to from criminalizing him to worship him as a God and so you see the snake was an accident we don’t go around picking up snakes no more than Jesus would jump off the pinnacle of the temple to try to prove that he was God that’s testing God you don’t pick up snakes to to to test God but let me tell you when you’re out in the jungles of salvador that I’ve been paraguay in africa and you know these remote places it don’t even have running water or anything let me tell you you need this verse and let me tell you something when you pray over your food it

▶ 22:48 isn’t a little uh Lord bless this food let’s get to eaten when you pray over the food you mean it because because there’s problems. So if God can do all this why do we throw out tongues as a supernatural. Event he promises we will speak in new tongues diverse tongues languages of the earth that we don’t. Know and your fundamentalists will go here and just throw it out and say it’s not for today well healings are not for today they say. We can’t have dominion over animals I don’t think they’ve been in the jungles of africa and salvador and and uh paraguay and brazil and I don’t think they’ve been to these.

▶ 23:40 Places in brazil you can stick your hand in water it might come out bones from the piranha okay you got to know that God sent you number one and he’s going to back up his word and protect you can I hear an amen. Hallelujah anybody can make up doctrines over here that’s never been to these world where witchcraft witch doctors have them mesmerized and and demonic spirits are actually working in people you can talk over here with all theology you want go over there you better have the power of the Holy Ghost and you better have the power of the word or you’re going to wind up in the grave and thousands of them are in the grave are you. There hallelujah. So is new tongues a supernatural.

What happened on the day of Pentecost?

▶ Watch this part (24:34)

Short answer: Acts 1:14 and 2:1–4: the 120 prayed; they heard a sound like a rushing mighty wind with no wind, while sitting; divided tongues as of fire appeared on each—he says the fire is the tongues; all were filled and spoke in other languages as the Spirit gave utterance—the mighty works of God, not shaking or falling.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 24:34 Event is the scriptures true yes all right now we’re going to go to the promise given in Acts 1:14 they all continued 120 in prayer and worship in the upper room prayer is very important so they were praying now listen this event in acts on the the day of Pentecost is so important and so powerful and the Pentecost and charismatic and the fundamentalist and the catholics none of them got it. Right why because they go to acts two with their own. Opinion now we’re just going to look at it as the scriptures declare it the first thing that happened was they heard a sound they heard a sound as a mighty rushing wind that filled the room and there was no wind no one ever mentioned.

▶ 25:30 That now is that a supernatural. Manifestation yeah we got a wind and there’s no wind our hair isn’t. Flying but we know the sound of a wind what’s another name for the spirit another definition I should say breath. Wind what’s he doing he’s announcing audibly something things following he announces like a like a trumpeter announces that the king is coming you know to charge in battle the wind is that part of the spirit. See that wind that breath and it sounded like a hurricane and yet not one hair.

▶ 26:22 Fluttered cuz there wasn’t a natural wind it was a spiritual sound announcing something’s following so what followed and it filled the whole place where they were sitting they’ been there for 10 days folks I can imagine they had been standing they’ been prostrating they’ve been kneeling but at this point of the seeking and tarrying they were all what. Sitting can God move upon us while we’re sitting yes and that’s another thing we goofed up on in the pentecostal go you can’t God nowhere in the Bible do you pre sitting nowhere in the Bible you know you got to stand you got to ne you go to well they were sitting and it didn’t bother God at all are you with me and what am I saying don’t get God into some kind of an opinionated thing that God can’t do something unless we do something if we seek him we will what find him all right now that I’m sure they were prostrate before and kneeling they did everything in the Bible they know to do but at this time they were sitting and and I loved it they were sitting and the wind filled the whole house didn’t come to the super saints didn’t come to the 12 apostles it came to what everybody in the group and this is a group manifestation of the Holy Spirit then there appeared wow I told you something was coming now they could see something they

Must the Bible be printed in every language before the end?

▶ Watch this part (27:53)

Short answer: He says the gospel must be proclaimed, not just printed, and God can give the languages of the nations without learning them, as at Pentecost when devout Jews from all nations heard in their own language—a hidden prophetic word for the latter house.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 27:53 heard it now they saw it their eyes were open and there appear to them divided tongues separate tongues as of fire remember last week I told you that the Bible says that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire well what’s the fire well here it is the fire is the tongues are you there mark said that we will speak with new languages. The fire is the tongues. Now how many of you heard this thing that the gospel shall be published to all nations and then the end will come how many has heard that the gospel this is a scripture the gospel will be published in all nations and then the end will come so the theory is that when the wicked Bible translators gets all the Bible translated in all the language the end will come and they say it’s been done okay but that’s not true do you know how many languages there are in the world over.

▶ 29:10 6,500 do you know how many of those languages have the Bible in printed form. 2050 do you think that’s going to keep Jesus from doing his thing no. We don’t need it printed we need it proclaimed and here we see in mark and here we see that God can give us the languages of the nations without knowing. Them we didn’t know them before and that’s what he’s doing here so he appeared so visible. Languages visible. Languages appeared to them they saw the language so when they started speaking they were watching.

▶ 30:10 Tv they were reading it off what they were seeing you. Understand. Ah you see we hear such dumb preaching for decades that when we come to the spirit opening under understanding we are dis. Numbed and we argue about tongues instead of asking God to perform it in America that’s what we argue over everything we’re just a bunch of debaters in America we’re not partakers we’re debaters now that was good we need to quit debating and partaking amen that’s good. Amen people think if they debate enough they’re a winner no we need to partake and that supernatural expression is the winner.

▶ 31:03 All. Right and one language set on each of them so how many languages do we have represented that day earthly languages 120 at least 120 cuz there was 120 there all. Right and it’s a group outpouring. And they’re all speaking at the same time and it’s in order because God is the one that sets the order can God touch everybody in this room at the same time yes and we can all individually express our love and our appreciation for him and he can hear us all at the same time we don’t have to do it one at a time yes he can heal like that too by the way we don’t have to put on theatrics about healing he can heal he’s good at it physical.

▶ 32:04 Bodies all were filled how many were filled all it’s a group event here it’s a group event all 120 were filled with the Holy Spirit and what was the result see they heard they saw the languages and when they were filled with the Holy Spirit did they shake to death did they drop down on the floor. Huh did they blow up on each other like we see on t you know the representation of the infilling of the spirit on tv is nothing like the book of Acts see when you don’t have it you have to act like you got. It no what did they do they. Spoke in different languages.

▶ 32:58 And what did they speak the mighty works of God the truths of God see they weren’t trying to bring people into the Jewish. Religion they were trying to bring people to Christ because the Holy Ghost what glorifies. Christ but what does every denomination do today they want to make you their denominate you go to the baptist they’re going to make you a baptist you go to Calvary Chapel they’re going to make you a Calvary Chapellain you go to the Vineyard they’re going to make you a do you go to the assembly of God like I got saved in they’re going to try to make you an assembly of God you go to the catholic they’re going to make you a catholic now they spoke with other languages and they spoke the mighty works of God as the spirit gave them utterance. Folks you can’t conjure this up it has to be the spirit initiating it it has to be the spirit giv you the message and then you speak it and whether it’s in your natural language or a non-known language it still has to be prompted by the Holy.

▶ 34:03 Spirit that’s why you can’t prophesy about some verse you read through the week if that verse is not anointed of the Holy Spirit for that. Group can that be true hallelujah now that we know the word is truth but yes but timing is also important devout. Dedicated Jews of all nations we could call them devout baptists devout catholics devout Pentecost is devout presbyterian in our day they’re serious about what they’re doing they may have some errors they may have some problems but they are serious about God in their uh place their level and they come from what how many nations.

▶ 34:58 All nations now we know they didn’t come from peru they we know they didn’t come from south africa they we know they didn’t come from australia but there is a hidden prophetic word. Here that if he touched the nations of that time all the nations they. Knew he is going to do it in the end time and I by the by the spirit see a prophetic statement.

▶ 35:34 Here is the glory of the latter house supposed to be greater than the former are we supposed to do more than the early church did yes and can you imagine a move of God where God gives young Christians of the language of those around them and they go out preaching the gospel and these people no they don’t know that language and he could give them two or three of the languages like Paul Paul had all kinds of earthly languages he could speak when the Holy Spirit was on him they heard them speak in our own languages all right that’s diverse tongues that’s called different languages got it say different languages different languages that people can understand that they know the language or an interpreter can interpret two people all right didn’t need any interpretation today on Pentecost did we cu they spoke in language every these people knew so you can just see people going to the language of the one that’s speaking in another.

What kinds of tongues are there?

▶ Watch this part (36:40)

Short answer: 1 Corinthians 13:1: tongues of men and of angels. On Pentecost they spoke earthly languages; an unknown, heavenly tongue edifies yourself (14:4) and should not be spoken out in church without interpretation.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 36:40 Language 1 Corinthians 13:1 though I speak with tongues of men and of angels there’s two sources of tongues languages tongues it just means. Languages languages of the earth that was on the day of Pentecost. Or languages from heaven angels and 1 Corinthians 14:4 he that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself okay that’s that heavenly language that’s that language that the spirit world speak it doesn’t say necessarily that those languages will be interpreted all right and this is what they spoke they spoke the tongues of men on the day of Pentecost but it’s okay to speak in tongues that are not known isn’t.

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 13:1 (NKJV)

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Scripture (NKJV)

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

How was the Spirit poured out later in Acts?

▶ Watch this part (37:32)

Short answer: Acts 4: the place was shaken, all were filled and spoke the word with boldness. Acts 4:33 and 5:12: great power and many signs by the apostles. Acts 10:44–47: the Spirit fell on Cornelius’ household while Peter spoke, before water baptism. Acts 19: twelve at Ephesus who hadn’t heard of the Holy Ghost spoke in tongues when Paul laid hands on them.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 37:32 It and this is the tongu that’s not supposed to be in the church unless there’s an interpreter second time believers are filled and no need for tongues because they’re all believers Acts 4:30 when they prayed there they are again the place was shaken not only now they had seen they had heard and now they felt the presence of God and they were shaken and a lot lot of times because you’re so overtaken it’s like sticking your finger in electric socket you will shake until you learn how to channel. It and let it come out in speaking the praise and the mighty works of God and thanksgiving and here they are assembled together assembled together really opens the door to the move of God church is important and all were filled with the Holy Ghost and they spake the word of God with what boldness confidence that just means confidence not arrogant it just means man they were sure of what they were saying why the Holy Spirit was giv them the words how many would like to speak the word of God with confidence yes amen so we need to thirst come to Jesus and ask for this Holy.

▶ 38:51 Spirit with great power the apostles gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Okay great power they gave witness of his resurrection death burial and resurrection okay we find that over in Acts 5:12 by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people so healings and miracles water changed to wine and all this stuff was happening by the apostles Jesus said I will send. You. Prophets I will send you prophet prophets. Apostles wise men and teachers is God going to restore all things does he have to restore the office of the apostle now if the early church only needed 12 and then there were about three or four more added.

▶ 39:45 15 how many know we don’t need a lot of apostles and we don’t need nobody acting like they’re an apostle like what what ruined the healing ministry back there that’s what ruined the prophetic ministry young Christians trying to act like they’ve got what the guy really had and then the people that really had it when God backed away they pretended that it was happening when it wasn’t happening that included Oral Roberts and all these guys you know if the spirit isn’t doing it folks we can’t what do. Anything Acts 10:45 as Peter spoke the word of the Lord came to those in the house of Cornelius he invited many relatives and close friends and on the Gentiles none of these are Jews none of these are.

▶ 40:39 Believers God poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit while Paul spoke now that seems rude and out of order the Bible said will everything be done decently in order yeah it’s his order who should have stopped. Speaking Peter should have stopped speaking because God came in and filled these people with the Holy Ghost it’s time to step back from the pulpit and let God do his thing how many know we really need that in America instead of waiting for the person behind the pulpit to do everything for us we need to let God move and then we need to let our worship leaders and our children church leaders and and the pastors step back and let God do his thing now that was. Good amen yes. You know we we we want to be so orderly we get God right out of the order.

▶ 41:35 They spoke with tongues and magnified God and then answered Peter does any man forbid that these should be baptized these guys received the Holy Ghost before they believed they believed during the message that Peter was preaching and then they got baptized after they were filled with the Holy Ghost. Amen baptism water baptism has nothing to do with the baptism of the Holy Ghost you can get baptized in the Holy Ghost while you’re getting baptized. But it has nothing to do with it they’re two different experiences Acts 9:6 here’s 12 people at Ephesus they had only heard the preaching of John they had never been.

▶ 42:22 Baptized in the name of Jesus and when Paul encountered them there’s 12 of them and they said well we never even heard of the Holy Ghost you see how many you know that’s a big part of our problem is we don’t hear about these powerful truths in the Bible could that be an amen so many people out there that watch the mega church tv ministers or not they don’t hear these powerful scriptures in the Bible to even seek for them and so they said we haven’t even heard that there’s a Holy Ghost and he laid his hands on them and they spoke in tongues now folks there’s no way you can tell me they needed to speak in diverse tongues here there’s 12 of them they’re from ephes Ephesus it’s obviously they speak in the language of Ephesus.

▶ 43:16 Are you getting my point they could have spoke in unknown tongue they could have spoke an angelic tongue heavenly tongue. And because the group was moved on were they out of order because there’s no. Interpreter are you. There did Paul stop oh stop stop we don’t have an interpreter stop. This you see how we get so rigid in. Something that we stop the sovereignty of God and when God wants to move on a group how many you know we just need to step back and let him do his thing hallelujah now he’s wanting to move individually that’s a different story we don’t want to bring attention to any individual but when he’s moving on a group get out of the way stop criticizing stop making fun and just ask for God to meet with you as part of the group you get it aren’t we aren we just natural.

Acts 10:44-47 (NKJV)

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. Acts 19:1-6 (NKJV)

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

What does Paul teach about tongues?

▶ Watch this part (44:30)

Short answer: 1 Corinthians 12: the nine gifts include divers tongues—speaking earthly languages you don’t know—and interpretation. 14:5: I wish you all spoke in tongues, but rather prophesy, which edifies. Paul spoke in tongues more than all, and 14:39 says forbid not to speak in tongues.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 44:30 Critics always wantan to find fault and debate 1 Corinthians 12 to another different kinds of tongues to another interpretation of tongu the nine gifts of the spirit word of wisdom word of knowledge. Faith discerning of spirits healings miracles he makes the distinction between healings and miracles miracles are things that have nothing nothing to do with physical healing walking on water is a miracle has nothing to do with physical healing all right and then you got prophecy and then you got tongues and you got interpretation and this is what he’s talking about divers tongues that gift in first corinthian please get this the gift in 1 Corinthians 12 is the gift to speak in different earthly languages.

▶ 45:27 That you don’t. Know and you can speak an unknown but the unknown doesn’t help anybody but you okay he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks to men I mean speaks not to men but to God and only edifies himself and you can quietly speak in tongues in a service not bringing attention to yourself and you can build yourself up and you can learn to interpret that and have some to say and that is what the Holy Ghost comes he comes to control your tongue he wants to use your tongue and whether it’s an unknown language or a known language and you’re praising God or you’re thanking God or you’re speaking the mighty works of God he is in he is using your tongue.

▶ 46:20 To minister it’s not for you to fall down on the ground do the quakes and the shakes it’s for you to speak from the spirit things that edify others and build up. Others now is that clear now 1 Corinthians 14:5 I would that you all spake with. Tongues but rather that you prophesy why because prophecy edifies people and unknown tongues doesn’t and even earthly tongues doesn’t unless you interpret them. I speak with tongues more than you all you ever wonder why he said that well Paul was sent to the j he went to every nation and in every nation there was at least 10 different language in some of those nations and when Paul went he didn’t need an interpreter he spoke their language.

▶ 47:18 Show me in the book of acts where an interpreter went along with it. Hallelujah he spoke in languages diverse languages more than any of us why cuz he needed them wherever he was going he needed their language he couldn’t wait for Wycliffe Bible translators to come along he just went in there and God gave him the language and that dumbfounded them and the message got through let’s hear a big huray for languages tongues are a sign to them that believe Paul said I mean believe not you see how mean know miracles and healings get people’s attention and so does languages when it’s done. Right prophecy is for believers why you’re speaking in their language things clear they can understand you build them up you encourage.

▶ 48:17 Them and then he says this statement forbid not to speak in tongues does the catholic church allow tongues does the baptist church allow tongues do the presbyterians the methodists and these people allow tongues no and the scripture says what forbid not to speak in. Languages tongues comes with this Holy Ghost and you might as well get it in your mouth and swallow it.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: One phrase at 16:55 was not clear. He says “while Paul spoke” at Cornelius’ house (it was Peter), cites Acts 9:6 for the Ephesus disciples (Acts 19:1–6) and Acts 4:30 for the shaking (4:31). Unchecked: 6,500 languages with 2,050 having the Bible; at least 120 languages at Pentecost; Paul “killed” by stoning and getting up. Sensitive content kept as spoken: Oral Roberts named about the healing ministry, denominations named, beating wives as an example, Pentecostal practices criticized.
