Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Pastor David G. Kincer preaches Ezekiel 36: God puts His Spirit in His people for His name’s sake, so the heathen will know He is the Lord when His people keep His word. The Spirit gives believers words before rulers, as with Elihu, the apostles and Paul before Felix and Agrippa: repent and turn to God.
What did God promise His people in Ezekiel?
Short answer: I do not do this for your sakes but for My holy name’s sake, which you profaned among the heathen.
▶ 0:00 The Bible when we read it is so powerful. We’re gonna go to a prophet in the Old Testament and see a tremendous promise God made to his people. I do not this for your sakes God says I’m going to do something but I’m not going to do it for your sake o Israel my people I’m not doing it for my peoples sake. For my own name’s sake it’s what I’m gonna do it for I’m gonna do this for my name.
Scripture in this part
Ezekiel 36:22 (NKJV)
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.
— Ezekiel 36:22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00Why does God act for His name’s sake?
Short answer: So the heathen will know that He is the Lord; God cares about those who don’t believe as much as about His people.
▶ 0:47 Which you my people have profaned among the heathen and I’m gonna do this for my name’s sake so the heathen know that I’m the Lord see God always cares about those who don’t believe in Jesus as much as he cares for those that do believe in Jesus and so he says I’m gonna do something and it’s gonna be for my own purpose not your purpose my own purpose how many you know our purposes can be totally the opposite of God’s purpose yeah thank God he’ll do things for his purpose and his purpose is the let the heathen know that God is real and that he is the Lord has all authority over heaven and earth and everything in it.
Scripture in this part
Ezekiel 36:23 (NKJV)
And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD,” says the Lord GOD, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes.
— Ezekiel 36:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:47What will God put within us?
Short answer: A new spirit: I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes.
▶ 1:40 This is found in Ezekiel. 36 and this is what he’s going to do a new spirit I put within you and then he repeats it I will put my spirit within you. That’s what I’m gonna do for my name’s sake so that that heathen know that I’m the Lord doesn’t that sound like our God beautiful just totally beautiful. And he says when I put my spirit within you for my name’s sake so the heathen know that I’m the Lord I’m gonna cause you that spirits gonna cause you to walk in my statutes and keep my judgments so it’s not a matter of us just having to do the duty and and just you know discipline ourselves and so forth God said he’ll put his spirit in us and he will move us caused us to obey his statutes and keep his judgments very powerful and then we go and we’ll go and look and see if this was true.
Scripture in this part
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NKJV)
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
— Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:40How do the heathen know Jesus is Lord?
Short answer: When His people keep His word; we are the light of the world.
▶ 2:54 But the statement we got to remembers that heathen know Jesus is Lord when his people keep his word we are light to the world they know that Jesus Christ is Lord the total power of authority now when you look into the Bible. Remember the apostles before they were filled with the spirit before they had their understanding to understand the scriptures they were denying Christ they were running from opposition Peter even curse Christ and things like that before God put his spirit in them. But after he put his spirit in them and after he opened their understanding to the scriptures you never find any scripture where these apostles committed any immoral act before God they never had sex outside their marriage they never stole the offerings from the Lord they didn’t live in fancy hotels and fancy homes and and all this stuff they didn’t lie.
▶ 4:03 They didn’t dishonor their parents they didn’t do any of that stuff after God put his spirit in them and he opened their understanding to understand the scriptures are you with me alleluia that’s how powerful that this thing is and God says I’m gonna do it for my name’s sake so that the heathen know I am the Lord. Zachariah and elizabeth even before God poured out his spirit the spirit of God visited Zechariah and elizabeth the Bible says they were blameless andrew before God poured out his spirit the Bible says that he was a person that had had no guile no deceit and Barnabas an apostle chosen afterward the Bible says he was a men so when God puts his spirit in us he makes us good he makes us to walk according to the word of righteousness and then the people around us see.
▶ 5:03 God through us of where the light of the world could that be an amen yes and that’s the basic thing about the Bible is us being a light to the world walking in right ways doing what’s right now we also go to Job 32 verse 18. Illa who lifted up his voice in Job 32 18 and says the spirit within me see go what did God say he would do he even put his spirit within his people and so the spirit within Elihu. Elihu says that spirit within me compels me it moves me it causes me. To speak he said I will speak I won’t just walk in the ways of God but I will talk the ways of God I will speak and I will speak in partially.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:54Whose word counts?
Short answer: Not what my little group or my friends say but what God says, impartially, no matter who it is.
▶ 6:02 Boy wouldn’t that be nice if we caught that one. Not what my little group says not what this other little group says or what my friends say or whatever but what God says impartial to matter who it is addressing and the spirit within me moves me to speak to give answers from the word of God and to refresh me see God’s word is alive and when you speak it that’s why we praise God with our lips when we open our mouth and lift up Jesus he inhabits the praises of his people it refreshes us it makes us alive and when we speak the word of God to ourself in prayer or to others that spirit is alive and it that word is alive and it refreshes us.
How did Elihu speak?
Short answer: From the spirit within him; Job’s friends had blamed Job, and Elihu’s words led to their correction.
▶ 6:58 And this work for Elihu when he spoke. His friends had been blaming Job accusing Job of sinning is why bad things happen to him and when Elihu spoke from the spirit within him. These men found forgiveness. Restoration and reconciliation back to God so it worked just like. Walking in his word work now we’re gonna go to the New Testament remember two reasons God puts his spirit in us number one caused us to walk in his word to keep his word number two to speak his word impartial ii didn’t that a good promise isn’t that what we need to do yes and did he say he would give his spirit to all flesh not just to ministers or somebody with a title everyone can have this spirit compelling them to obey the word and speak in the word everyone can have it in the New Testament we find a very powerful statement by Jesus Christ he says you’re going to be brought before governors and kings for my sake for.
Scripture in this part
Job 32:8 (NKJV)
But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.
— Job 32:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:58What should you say when brought before rulers?
Short answer: Take no thought how or what you shall speak; it is not you that speak but the Spirit of your Father in you.
▶ 8:26 A testimony against them and the Gentiles the Gentiles is the non-believer. Take no thought how or what you shall speak don’t prepare your notes. Don’t read a lot of books on the matter. You don’t need any preparation here. Except. Seeking him and and praying to him and so forth. It’s gonna be given you. The same hour what you shall speak. Now folks this is a pretty bold statement from Jesus Christ. Being brought in the courts to. Stand against those who are accusing you of something is a very soul shaking experience I’ve been there four times.
▶ 9:26 Or contending with unbelievers anyone. Can be a very shaking time. And he says it’s not you that speak but the spirit of God which speaks in you now that is a powerful statement very powerful. Let’s see if it works. In Acts 5:29 and Acts 419. The apostles had been arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin the Jewish leaders. And they were told not to preach the gospel and stop doing these miracles that you’ve been doing. And the.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 10:18-20 (NKJV)
You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
— Matthew 10:18-20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:26Whom should we listen to?
Short answer: The apostles said, judge for yourselves whether it is right to listen to you rather than God.
▶ 10:19 Apostles answered and says you got a judge for yourselves further it is right in God’s sight to listen to you or listen to God and God has told us to go preach the gospel told us to tell everyone that the kingdom of God is here and we’ve got to obey God not you and you’re gonna have to decide what you’re going to do with us but as for us we are going to obey God now that’s a pretty powerful statement to say in front of the people that can throw you in prison for life or take your life are you with me and it better be the spirit that’s talking. If it’s not the spirit that’s talking we could get in trouble and so yes they were freed both times one after a beating and the other just told not to teach anymore and they went right on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and this opposition was from within the Jewish religion this was not the Gentiles he’s that they’re dealing with this is the leaders of the Jewish religion how many no opposition can come from within christianity isn’t always outside of it.
▶ 11:42 Let’s look at this one. He is at Jerusalem keeping a feast unto the Lord and the Jews who believed there were thousands of them who believed Jesus rose up and said this is the guy that told us not to keep the law and they were going to kill Paul and the soldier centurion soldier came and took Paul away to keep these people from mistreating Paul and this centurion soldier took him on himself to beat Paul he was going to beat Paul and Paul by the spirit turned around and said is it lawful to scourge a man that is a roman citizen and unconditioned against me is.
Scripture in this part
Acts 4:19-20 (NKJV)
But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
— Acts 4:19-20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:19Did Paul use his rights?
Short answer: Yes. He asked whether it was lawful to scourge a Roman citizen uncondemned; it pays to know what to say.
▶ 12:38 It right for a roman citizen to be beaten without any evidence to prove that he should be he says I’m a freeborn roman citizen and the roman soldier didn’t do it see it pays to know what to say at the time to say it another one Jesus has brought before Herod before the book of acts happened and Jesus was silent before Herod didn’t say a word you know sometimes it’s just best to keep your mouth shut how many heart I have a hard time keeping your mouth shut sometime yeah sometimes just best keep mouth shut. But also Stephen when he was brought for the Sanhedrin in act seven and eight he preached the longest sermon in the Bible he preached the scriptures to these Jewish leaders and these Jewish believers that didn’t like his preaching from Abraham to the temple of Solomon he preached as a message that covered 1,000 years in the Bible.
▶ 14:03 And although he preached the truth they didn’t want to hear the truth and they got rid of him anyway but he spoke it by the Holy Spirit amen. Sometimes it takes a lot of words to convince people. But the best one is. In Acts 26. 24 x 24 and Acts 26 Paul is before Felix in x 24. He’s before Felix the leader and he preached and church this is the message that needs to get out there he preached to Felix.
Scripture in this part
Acts 22:25 (NKJV)
And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and uncondemned?”
— Acts 22:25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:38What did Paul preach to Felix?
Short answer: Righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come. Control yourself; don’t blame your community, parents or nation.
▶ 14:58 Righteousness. Self-control you control yourself don’t blame it on the community don’t blame it on your parents don’t blame it on your nation you control yourself and do right and there’s a judgment coming if you don’t control yourself and do right there is a judgment coming an eternal lake of fire for those who don’t and the result was Felix trembled he shook. See the spirit of God would prep the presence of God came so strongly the Felix shook but he did not accept the preaching of righteousness self-control and the judgment to come and this is the exact message remember the apostle said I will preach Christ and him crucified debt is the main message to bring us back to what is right to speaking what is right.
▶ 16:03 Speaking in partially to living partially for God not partially for someone I want to impress. Amen and it comes from the spirit and that’s a promise of God and he fulfilled it when Paul spoke this words God backed it up in Felix trembled I have seen when I am witnessing to people I have seen them shake from the presence of God that comes when you invite them to know Jesus and they don’t want him they want it to be phony they want it to be a lie and then when God shows up and confirms this message this true they literally shake the resisting the very presence of God and so God did back up his word in Acts 26.
Scripture in this part
Acts 24:25 (NKJV)
Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
— Acts 24:25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:58What is the message to the people?
Short answer: You have to repent, turn to God and do works befitting repentance.
▶ 17:04 24 [unclear] and he speaks a pretty good message to Herod he says we got to repent my message to the people out there is you got to repent you got to turn to God turn from your wrong ways turn to right ways and do works suitable for repentance doesn’t that sound logical don’t just repent and turn to God but live a life that shows you’ve changed. And this is what he told the king king Herod.
Scripture in this part
Acts 26:20 (NKJV)
but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.
— Acts 26:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:04What gospel did Paul preach to Agrippa?
Short answer: Jesus suffered, died on the cross for the sins of the world, and rose from the grave.
▶ 17:41 And then he told him Jesus suffered he was persecuted and he died on that cross for the sins of the world and he rose from the grave to prove that he is God and his message of salvation by his blood is true he rose from the grave and he became a light to all men and then Herod responded and said these tremendous words almost Paul you persuade me to be a Christian you almost persuade me to be a Christian but he didn’t do it but see Paul gave them the message he didn’t talk about once saved always saved or not saved always saved they didn’t talk about the second coming he didn’t talk about all these doctrines that we have out there that we argue about Paul both times stuck with the cross and him crucified we got to repent we got to turn to God we got to bring forth fruit that’s suitable for that we got to speak in partially and live in partially we’ve got to live and speak partially to our master Jesus amen.
Scripture in this part
Acts 26:22-23 (NKJV)
Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”
— Acts 26:22-23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:41How can we respond?
Short answer: Say, Jesus, put Your Spirit in me and move me to speak right and live right.
▶ 18:57 Now. Thank you for that amen. Now if you’re willing to say Jesus I want you to put your spirit in me and move me to speak right and to live right where you stand with me unless sing this song again that they sang early.
