From the sermonThe Gospel Shaped Life 01/21/2018 · Pastor David G. Kincer▶ 0:00

Pastor David G. Kincer teaches that John, Jesus, the twelve and the seventy all preached the same gospel: repent, be baptized and believe, and receive the Holy Spirit. Groups have made religions of parts of it. Without a gospel-shaped life the door is shut, as in Luke 13 and the ten virgins. With it come peace and the power to bear trials.

Who first preached repentance and water baptism?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: John the Baptist, by a rhema word—the spoken, revealed word of God—not the written logos alone.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:00 This is our second session and we’re going to be talking about the gospel shaped life we’re gonna be talking about how the gospel can shape your life into something magnificent for God all right now. We. Find when we go to the Bible that John the baptist was the first one to preach as a witness the baptism [unclear] water repentance and forgiveness [unclear] equals forgiveness deliverance and healing of sin John was the first one to preach that message okay. in Luke 3:2 the word of God came unto John. now that word [unclear] is rhema rhema.

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 3:2-3 (NKJV)

while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins,

— Luke 3:2-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00

What is the difference between rhema and logos?

▶ Watch this part (0:57)

Short answer: Logos is the written word; rhema is the word God speaks and reveals to you. The sword of the Spirit is the rhema word. You don’t debate rhema.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:57 When used in the Bible is the spoken or revealed word of God. Logos is the written word of God for example in Isaiah 7:14 a virgin shall conceive and bring forth a child all right when that was spoken to Isaiah that was a rhema word when we go and read it it is a logos word and until God reveals it to you and speaks it to you.

▶ 1:32 Then it’s a rhema word for you. got it so John the Baptist talked about water baptism. Repentance means I’m sorry for my sins I renounce sin I admit I’m a sinner and I did these things and I turn from and repent from those sins if I do that and get water baptized God will forgive me deliver me from my sins and the penalty of my sins he will heal me of my sin is that an amen that is a fresh message this message had never been preached before baptism in the Old Testament was a shadow law we know because the Bible tells us it was the shadow law the laver [unclear] of water was a type of a shadow of water baptism Israel crossing the red sea the Bible says was a shadow law of baptism Israel crossing the river of Jordan was a shadow law of water baptism but John didn’t come preach in the shadow law he come preaching you get submerged in water you repent of your sins and I’ll forgive you I’ll deliver you of your sins that was a fresh rhema word no one was preaching in Ephesians 6:17 everybody’s talking

How did John prepare the way?

▶ Watch this part (3:03)

Short answer: Mark 1:1–4: quoting Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 3:1, John preached a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. You can’t take water baptism out of the equation.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:03 about the armor of God I hear it everywhere I go ok it’s a baby doctrine thing but an important one but in that baby doctrine thing the sword of the spirit which is the word of God the rhema spoken revealed word of God that’s the sword of the spirit not the logos word of God. Are you there see until the words been revealed to you birth in you it is a logos word. But when it’s revealed it is a rhema word and you don’t debate rhema words we go around [unclear] debating the logos words. Everybody has their opinion in Mark 1:1 the beginning of the gospel of Jesus remember last week we showed you all the ways the gospel word was used and the description of them here’s one of them it’s the gospel the good news the message of Jesus Christ the son of the living God it’s also the gospel of God the gospel of grace it’s the gospel of righteousness it’s the gospel of peace and so forth it is the good news the message it is a gospel with many exhortations all right the gospel has many things to say.

▶ 4:29 It goes on and says as is written in the prophets he’s going to quote from the scripture behold I send my messenger that’s John the baptist before your face who will prepare your way before you you is Christ the voice of one crying in the wilderness better word is desert okay and he’s quoting from Isaiah 40 verse 3 and Malachi 3:1 that’s where he’s quoting from. Prepare the way of the Lord Jesus make his paths straight how is he going to do that. John came preaching baptizing or I’m sorry he came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sin you renounce your sin admit your sin turn from your sin and you get water baptized I will forgive your sin heal your sin and the punishment of them is that a fair deal yes.

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the Prophets: “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.” “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’ ” John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

What did Jesus add?

▶ Watch this part (5:39)

Short answer: Matthew 4:17, Mark 1:14–15: repent and believe the gospel. Luke 17:21: the kingdom of God is within you—where God rules.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 5:39 You can’t leave anything out of an equation. if you take something out of an equation it’s not a right equation anymore. Can’t take water baptism out of this. Now Jesus began to preach and say repent in Matthew 4:17 he’s the second one that brought this new revelation message of repentance and water baptism Jesus came to Galilee in Mark 1:14 preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God the kingdom of Christ the kingdom of God the kingdom of heaven they’re all the same kingdom. Okay and he said the time is fulfilled the kingdom of God is at hand it is here we’re not praying for it to come it has come.

▶ 6:40 The gospel of the kingdom. What’s the message repent and then he brings in another ingredient to the formula you got to believe in the gospel the gospel of who the Pentecostals the Baptists the Catholics or the gospel of Jesus Christ the gospel of the kingdom of heaven the gospel of God the gospel of grace the gospel of peace it’s all the same gospel. Amen you gotta believe in it you got to put your trust in it you can’t put your trust in your beliefs you can’t put your trust in church’s beliefs you gotta put your trust in the gospel because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation is that an amen all right in

▶ 7:35 Luke 17:21 Jesus said the kingdom of God is within you a kingdom is an area that a king rules over so the kingdom of God is the area that God rules over and the kingdom of God area is where in you God wants to come and establish his kingdom of righteousness peace and joy and power and the Holy Ghost in you. That’s the goal of the gospel it isn’t to join some church and get a baptismal certificate or do some kind of ritual to make us look like we’re Christians he come to ask you to respond to these three things believe get water baptized and repent and he would forgive you cleanse you heal you deliver you from your sins and the punishment of them amen that’s the bargain that’s pretty good bargain.

Did the apostles preach the same message?

▶ Watch this part (8:40)

Short answer: Yes. Luke 9:2 and Luke 10: the twelve and the seventy preached the kingdom with power over the enemy. No one may preach another message.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:40 Third and fourth witnesses of this gospel of repentance water baptism and belief for the remission of sins Luke 9:2 Jesus sent 12 apostles with power and authority to preach the kingdom of God which is the gospel and all right didn’t we just hear that all right cast out devils and heal the sick and these twelve went preaching the gospel everywhere healing the sick raised the dead and casting out demons. Now it’s interesting that the next very next chapter he chooses seventy more and he sent them out in pairs like he did the twelve and he gave them the same message heal the sick cast out devils saying to the people the kingdom of God the gospel of Christ the gospel of the kingdom is come nigh unto you I give you power over all the power of the enemy if that’s true why is the enemy kicking us around.

▶ 9:53 Because we really don’t understand the gospel. now [unclear] we don’t embrace it now. Four people were sent to preach the gospel and all four preached the same message is that an amen does anyone have the right today to preach any other message no we cannot preach our opinions. If you got opinions just shut up don’t say thus says the Bible or thus says God until you have a rhema word a living word a revealed word and it’s birthed in you it is best to shut your mouth rather than pass on something that’s going to hurt people. That’s good but when you have that rhema word don’t be afraid to share it there’s no arguments with the rhema word of God we all quarrel and debate over the written word of God and we all think we got the interpretation.

How did Paul preach?

▶ Watch this part (11:03)

Short answer: First Corinthians 2:4–5: not with enticing words of man’s wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and power, so faith stands in the power of God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 11:03 The Holy Ghost has the interpretation and you gotta get it from him. Could that be an amen I’m shocked at how people want to change the gospel now so we have four witnesses preaching the same thing the same identical thing in first Corinthians 2:4 my speech Paul said and my preaching was not with enticing words logos of man’s wisdom and we’re trying to convince people today through human intelligence to serve God it can’t be done you got to be birthed by the spirit and by the word and it’s the spirit that’s got to reveal truth to you it’s the spirit that’s got to come and be a part of your change from a sinner to a Christian it’s not head knowledge at all and you can argue and debate 24 hours a day seven days a week the rest of your life and it won’t amount to a hill of beans but if you start embracing the gospel that Revelation will come.

▶ 12:13 Amen. The power the gospel. But I came to you in the demonstration of the spirit and of power okay what power the gospel I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ it is the power of God unto salvation when Paul preached people got saved why he preached the gospel and the gospel had power amen he didn’t preach psychology. He didn’t preach apologetics. That’s a modern-day thing we’re trying to win our youth through apologetics and psychology and debates and reasoning they got to be won by the conviction of the Holy Spirit convincing them of sin righteousness and judgment they got to be born again by the spirit and also born again by the word the Bible says the two worked together.

▶ 13:17 Amen there’s got to be an involvement of God in this thing that. Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God the supernatural ability of God to. shape me by his gospel I [unclear]. alright. In chapter 4 verse 20 the kingdom of God is not in word logos word it’s not in quoting scriptures and memorizing [unclear] Khrushchev the premier of Russia when I was young memorized the whole Pentateuch the first five books of the Bible did it help him no he was an evil corrupt man one day.

What does Galatians 1:8 warn?

▶ Watch this part (14:17)

Short answer: Anyone—even an angel—preaching another gospel is accursed. He applies this to messages given by angels to Mormons and Muslims.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 14:17 Yeah. Galatians 1:8 if we or anyone else or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel be accursed now this scripture is really challenging the Mormons and the Muslims they both got their message from an angel that gave them some errors in that message obvious errors in the message that isn’t backed up by the gospel of Christ the gospel of the kingdom of God the gospel of God the gospel of peace the gospel of grace it isn’t backed up. and see Paul by the spirit had revelation of this [unclear] angel came to me well what was the message.. The message makes all the difference in the world.

▶ 15:11 And. the Mormons are destroying a lot of people and the Muslims are destroying a lot more because the angel that revealed this message to them had errors in it that contradict the gospel of Christ the gospel of the kingdom of heaven it contradicts it and you can’t contradict this gospel can I hear an amen do I now persuade men or do I obey or believe men. You know it’s not my job to get people to believe what I’m telling you is truth it’s not my job I’m not gonna argue with you I’m gonna simply state the truth and let God take over and if you want to reject it that’s between you and God all the debating we can do is not going to change you what’s going to change you is you letting the Holy Spirit convict you you letting the word convict you and you responding that’s what’s going to change you and all the debating that we can do is not going to work.

▶ 16:18 But you take one little step toward God and he takes giant steps toward you amen. Too many people are trying to please men too many people are trying to please their church trying to please a ministry or walk according to some author of a book and all that forget it there is no book why do they have to write so many books about the one book that has all the truth. because it’s the logos that they’re debating about and they’re interpreting it’s not the revealed word. When you get the revealed word there is no debate amen when God reveals to you that Jesus is the son of God and there’s no more debate he is why it was revealed by the spirit I know he’s a son of God amen no arguing and debating now.

What does Acts 2:38 add?

▶ Watch this part (17:18)

Short answer: Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit—a bundle.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:18 There’s more power in the same gospel the gospel is the power of God unto salvation but there’s more power offered in that same gospel Acts 2:38. Peter said to the people. Repent and be baptized how many of you all of you why do people want to argue and debate whether baptism is necessary or not good Lord Jesus got baptized don’t you follow his example. There’s no arguing there’s no debating and another thing on repentance people on earth they don’t like to hear repent they don’t like to be told they are wrong but the people in hell would love to hear that message one more time and be able to respond.

▶ 18:17 And there is a hell and there is an eternal punishment and it’s so serious that the church must get the message up so people have a chance to avoid that lake of fire could that be an amen now. All of us are to be water baptized all of us are to repent and then he throws in another ingredient. you get water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ not the name of your Mormon church not the name of the Catholic church not the Baptist church not any other name the name of the father son and the Holy Ghost that is the authority the word name here is authority the title the authority that makes this work is Jesus Christ himself. Amen.

▶ 19:11 so you can’t get baptized in the name of Allah. right. yeah. Jesus Christ is the one that makes this work so we got four things we’ve got to repent be sorry for our sins confess our sins and turn from our sins renounce our sins we got to get water baptized. And we got to believe believe it’s not here but we know it’s part of the gospel if you believe gospel is the power of God unto salvation so we believe we believe in Jesus we believe in the water baptism and we believe he will forgive us cleanse us deliver us from sin amen that’s the gospel there’s no deviation that is the gospel.

▶ 20:12 Don’t argue about it get in it oh yeah. If it was good enough for Jesus it’s good enough for us if it was good enough for the apostles it’s good enough for us and when churches add to this gospel or take away from it they are hurting you. Now. some make a religion of his name. [unclear] you got to get baptized in the name of Jesus only over here you got to baptize in the name of father son the Holy Ghost they act like God don’t know who he is. God is the father God is the son and God is the Holy Ghost and he expresses himself and there’s terminologies and we just have to accept it could that be an amen that’s a fact.

▶ 21:04 All right can’t make a religion out of the name or the Holy Spirit baptism the focus here is on repent. Be water baptized believe on Jesus. For the remission of sins and you shall receive what the gift of the Holy Spirit it’s a bundle [unclear] bundle I [unclear] get these advertisements in the mail if you want an internet phone it costs this much if you want the internet it costs that much if you want tv cable it costs this much if you want a dvr with your cable television it costs this much but if you want to bundle it. You can save a lot of money well that’s exactly what God is offering you he’s offering you a package.

Is the offer free and unconditional?

▶ Watch this part (21:57)

Short answer: Not exactly—you must respond, humble yourself and repent. He calls “unconditional love” a psychology statement.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 21:57 Free. Now it’s not exactly free you got to repent you got to respond when people say you know. That this thing is free it’s not true. You got to respond that’s the cost for you you got to humble yourself get rid of your pride and respond [unclear] amen. Alleluia. People talk about unconditional love. There is not unconditional love in the Bible the condition is if you respond I will forgive you there is a condition. Could that be an amen. [unclear] battered wife or a battered husband yeah we got husbands getting beat up today by women.

How have groups made religions of parts of the gospel?

▶ Watch this part (22:57)

Short answer: Some made tongues the only sign, some the Jesus-name formula, some extreme holiness rules; others called tongues of the devil. Southern denominations even embraced slavery.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 22:57 Unconditional love is not just going on every day getting beat up. they have a responsibility to love back isn’t that right both sides have a responsibility to love and don’t harm each other don’t give me this unconditional love nonsense that’s a psychology statement. Makes you feel good about yourself and those around you who are your friends they’re my friends because they love me unconditionally I’m a nitwit I’m a birdbrain I’m a fool but they love me well if they really loved you the Bible says love disciplines a child many times. now there got to be correction now the Pentecostals made a religion [unclear] a baptism of tongues and charismatics I got saved in this circle I grew up in God in this circle.

▶ 23:54 All right so like I tell you every time I have a right to talk because I got saved and I spent years in the circle and I’m still a spirit-filled tongue talking believer. All right but God had to show me. That tongues was not the only sign of the baptism of the Holy Ghost like they were teaching me are you there God had to show me things I’m telling you the gospel will keep revealing itself if you respond. Now if you want to hang on to your church bylaws and all that well go ahead be a birdbrain but if you really want God then hold on to the gospel it will keep revealing itself.

▶ 24:48 You got it church alleluia and so that’s another group and they are also spirit-filled people that believe in Jesus name only Jesus name only [unclear] Jesus name only Jesus name only is God Jesus is [unclear] and there’s only one person in heaven when Stephen plainly saw there were two in the Old Testament God said to Jesus sit at my right hand is there nothing sitting in his right hand [unclear] lied to us can God lie no he can’t [unclear] the Bible says so was God sitting at the right hand of the father in the Old Testament is he back at the right hand of the father in the New Testament yes are there two identities there yes. Stop making a religion out of the name God knows his name he is Jehovah he is the creator he is the saviour he is the [unclear] he knows who he is you can call him any one of those names and he will what respond.

▶ 25:58 you call me [unclear] I know who I am. that’s what Mervyn Barnes calls me [unclear] my middle name but I know who I am now. holiness you know the Holy Spirit the gospel of righteousness they [unclear] want to stick to just that there’s ten commandments and the flagrant sins in the Bible they want to add to it you can’t cut your hair can’t wear pants can’t wear shorts can’t wear jewelry can’t do this can’t do that that’s not even in the Bible. But they make a religion out of holiness to an extreme just like the Pentecostals did with the tongue thing are you there.

▶ 26:53 Some of these spirit-filled people believe you’re not saved unless you speak in tongues that is just totally scripturally idiotic. That means that 90% of the people in the Bible never got saved. Are you there. Now. for you fundamentalists you Baptists you Presbyterians you Methodists and so forth that thinks well we didn’t do that no you rejected the Holy Ghost you said it’s of the Devil the Bible never says speaking in tongues is of the Devil you had to fabricate that to justify. ignoring the baptism of power of the Holy Ghost are you out there fundamentalist.

▶ 27:51 Now let me tell you something else the Southern Baptists the Southern Methodists the Southern Presbyterians and the Southern Catholics embraced slavery and split from the church in the north your biggest Protestant denomination the Southern Baptists started by embracing slavery saying slavery was okay. Does the gospel teach that now they got that from the logos word the written word that they twisted to make work for them and I have a paper from the pope justifying the Southern Catholics of having slaves. Are you there what’s the problem they’re not following the gospel they’re following their own gospel their own message and that doesn’t set you free that doesn’t heal you that doesn’t deliver you are you with me church.

Is the Holy Spirit for today?

▶ Watch this part (28:51)

Short answer: Acts 2:39: the promise is to you, your children and all afar off. Acts 1:8: you shall receive power to be witnesses—not just a baptism of tongues.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 28:51 Hallelujah you like it when I’m picking on somebody else but when I’m picking on you yeah I can tell by your face [unclear] it’s [unclear] little close here. They say that the Holy Spirit baptism and gifts are not for today that’s [unclear] a total lie that’s right here in this verse okay they say it’s not for today they’re lying to you look at this for the promise is unto you those present to your children your offspring and to all [unclear] all who are afar off are we afar off from this day yes is these promises of

▶ 29:44 Remission of sins by way of baptism repentance and believe in the gospel and Jesus Christ and the promise of the Holy Spirit is that for us today by this scripture it is and it will be 100 years from now oh we won’t be here [unclear] you assume and people have been assuming the ends coming everyday for my whole lifetime and it hasn’t come yet are you there so we might as well buck up don’t you think believe the gospel live the gospel and enjoy life through the power of the gospel and the Holy Ghost.

▶ 30:29 Jesus said you will receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you it’s not a baptism of tongues they did speak in tongues that day they spoke in tongues four other times as a group being baptized in the Holy Ghost okay but Jesus didn’t say it was a baptism of tongues he said it was a baptism of power to be a witness for him starting in Jerusalem Judea and the uttermost parts of the world [unclear] amen does God want us to be a light to the world yes the power of the Holy Ghost will [unclear] endue you with the power and ability to be a light for him and it’s also the Revelation he’s the revelator of truth. Spiritual things are revealed by the spirit are you with me [unclear] that’s why he said I’ll pour out my spirit on all flesh and that’s why he gave us nine gifts and he gave each one a different gift we went through that to one was given word of wisdom to another word knowledge to another prophecy to another tongues to another interpretation to another healing to another miracle he wants the body to come together prepared to be used of God.

What is the lack of a gospel-shaped life?

▶ Watch this part (31:50)

Short answer: Luke 13:24–27: many will seek to enter and not be able; the master shuts the door and says “I do not know you … workers of iniquity.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 31:50 not one man doing everything is that an amen did you come ready today alleluia. Now. The gospel shaped life and the lack of the gospel shaped life you ready for this. Luke 13:24 many will seek to enter and will not be able when the master of the house rises up and shuts the door. the Bible tells us that the door is Jesus the Bible tells us the master of the house and the builder of the house is Jesus the Bible tells us that the house is the church the living stones build up a spiritual house and here in this parable it says that the master of the house shuts the door.

▶ 32:52 Wow. Does this get your attention. See it doesn’t matter what our church says it doesn’t matter what the preachers say what matters is what this gospel says. is that an amen. outside. outside of the church outside of the spiritual house they [unclear] saying Lord Lord open for us and the Lord will answer and say I do not know you. Why doesn’t he know them. Why doesn’t he know them they reply we ate and drank in your presence man we went to church we took communion.

▶ 33:53 your preachers and pastors and evangelists taught in our streets. But the master of the house will say I do not know you. I’m not opening the door why isn’t he opening the door these are obviously religious people aren’t they they’re not atheists. Depart from me all you workers of iniquity lawlessness. You broke my law you didn’t repent you didn’t confess and renounce your sin and turn from your sins I don’t know who you are. That’s the lack of the gospel shaped life.

▶ 34:53 They may have believed part of the gospel. It’s so easy to believe in Jesus oh yeah that sounds good I’ll take that. But they had to believe in water baptism Holy Spirit baptism and Jesus. They might have believed in part but they did not repent of all sins evidently because he said they were workers of iniquity nor did they stay repentant how many know repentance is a lifelong truth to obey when you mess up you got to repent [unclear] thank God that it isn’t a one-time thing that I can get forgiven. That’s the result of the lack of the gospel shaped life the door shut on you.

Luke 13:24-27 (NKJV)

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’

What do the ten virgins teach?

▶ Watch this part (35:57)

Short answer: Matthew 25: all ten slept; the foolish had lamps without oil. Neglecting prayer, worship, scripture and church is spiritual sleep. You must have your own oil.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 35:57 Doesn’t matter if you belong to the Catholic church the Baptist church the [unclear] it doesn’t matter what church you belong to doesn’t matter what religious culture you have the door shut because the house he’s building is a spiritual house and the only way to get in is through spiritual principle. Amen that was a good statement right there. Now. The gospel shaped life with eternal results now this is good are you ready. Behold the bridegroom comes we all know in Matthew 25 the parable of the ten virgins has been preached to us forever and ever how many have heard of the parable of the ten virgins where’s the rest of you been guys okay he gave a parable of ten virgins a virgin is someone who isn’t married okay they are looking for a husband they’re looking for the bridegroom okay there’s ten of them and the.

▶ 37:02 Message here is the bridegroom comes go out to meet him okay so they that were what ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shut just like the last parable the door was shut but here we have a marriage it’s not the house it’s a marriage the virgins are wanting to marry the bridegroom alright there’s 10 of them the Bible says they all had lamps a lamp is a form of light it is a form of fire but a lamp can’t burn. It’s just the form it’s just the vessel it’s just the structure the method oh they got the method but they got no oil these five are unwise they have no oil are you there the other five are wise they got oil in their lamps so they can have fire and they can have light are you with me and they’re all unmarried and they’re all looking for a bridegroom okay.

▶ 38:24 The truth is all of these virgins slept. They went to sleep. Well they sure wanted to bridegroom bad didn’t they the wise are sleeping the unwise are sleeping [unclear] we go over to Jesus when he’s praying before his death he asked his apostles to pray with him one hour 60 minutes and he went off and he prayed he came back and these 12 apostles are asleep. he woke them up get up wake up you got to pray one hour just 60 minutes and he went back and he prayed and then he come back and guess what they’re asleep.

▶ 39:20 Now they weren’t committing a hell sin they were committing a spiritual sin prayer is a spiritual weapon. Praise is a spiritual weapon worship is a spiritual weapon reading your Bible and studying it is a spiritual weapon going to Bible studies and going to church is a spiritual weapon it’s a spiritual commandment of Jesus Christ he told all of his apostles and everybody else to do these things isn’t that right tithing is a spiritual principle that rebukes the devourer and yet we have Christians that don’t tithe they don’t go to church they don’t pray they don’t worship they don’t read the book they don’t study the Bible they just got the form of the lamp without the oil.

▶ 40:16 You know we can be wise we can have oil in our lamp we can be living as a light to those around us but be totally asleep when it comes to the power of the spiritual principles of God. Totally oblivious we don’t care about other people if we did we’d come to church so God could use us to change them if we did we would pray God touch so-and-so and use me to you know let me be a light to them if they did they would worship he inhabits the praises of his people so we would bring his presence so these people could touch God are you there. Both the wise virgins and the foolish virgins are asleep. Now if that is true.

▶ 41:10 Somebody is saying behold the bridegroom comes somebody’s not asleep is that a logical deduction not everybody went to sleep here the ten virgins went to sleep but there’s somebody else around. That isn’t sleeping they [unclear] they that were ready went in with him to the marriage and we know the five wise servant virgins woke up. They got shaken up woke up and they went in to the marriage and the unwise servant [unclear] virgins I mean says hey give us your oil give us some of your oil you know they go no way we’re not giving our oil away you see a lot of people are living on the anointing of someone else or they want to live on the anointing of someone else.

▶ 42:09 you got to have your own oil folks you can’t live on the anointing of your pastor some evangelists your husband your wife or whatever you got to have your own oil could that be an amen yes. This gospel is so good that’s why I’m grinning right now the gospel is so liberating so good and it’s for all of us I. Had a businessman this week tell me that I had a special relationship with God because I’m a pastor and I go no I don’t God’s not a respecter of persons he will hear you just like he will hear me isn’t that right. There’s no special people the special people are the ones that respond and when that guy responds and asks God to come God will come and meet with him [unclear].

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 25:1-13 (NKJV)

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Who was awake?

▶ Watch this part (43:16)

Short answer: Revelation 19:7: the wife has made herself ready—those who know Christ as bridegroom and please him. Paul sought to present the church as a chaste virgin.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 43:16 afterward came the other virgins saying Lord Lord open to us we went and got some oil open to us but the Lord answered and said truly I say unto you I don’t know you and what did we find out and the other one. They were committing iniquity and it’s a gospel of righteousness now. Revelations 9 17 who are they that are crying out behold the bridegroom comes are you interested in knowing who was awake Revelation 19:7 the marriage of the lamb has come his wife has made herself ready. The wife was awake. The people that knew God in a marriage relationship knew Jesus was awake.

▶ 44:13 Because their goal was to please the husband. And they did these spiritual things they prayed they worshiped they tithed they went to church they did these things they were awake isn’t that beautiful don’t you want to be one that’s awake yes. Don’t go to sleep spiritually they believe the gospel they got baptized they believed in Jesus they repented and they got delivered and they got the Holy Ghost oil which is the Bible says the anointing of the Lord is upon me or the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he’s anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor etc are you with me in the Old Testament what did they use to anoint with oil in the New Testament who is the oil the Holy Spirit the baptism of the Holy Spirit he was with them and he was going to be in them and the baptism the Holy Spirit is the spirit in you.

▶ 45:26 igniting you isn’t that a beautiful promise. hallelujah yes. The bride was awake and there’s people on earth that know Christ as the bridegroom and they please him just like in a marriage where we do things that pleases one another we please Christ we don’t put ourselves first we put him first. Wouldn’t you like to know God like that didn’t Paul say I have determined to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ didn’t he say that see Paul knew that he was trying to bring the people to a place where they had a relationship as a husband and wife with Jesus Christ.

What does a gospel-shaped life bring now?

▶ Watch this part (46:18)

Short answer: John 16:33: peace and overcoming. First Peter 4:12: don’t think trials strange. First Corinthians 10:13: God makes a way to bear it. Love never gives up.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 46:18 Hallelujah. But that’s not all you don’t have to wait for eternal rewards you can have present rewards. John 16:33 these things these things was the word he had just preached a long sermon. these things these words I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace. Didn’t we learn last week that the gospel is a gospel of peace okay the words that he spoke obviously were the words of the gospel you got it. Amen. Now. In the world you will have tribulation you’re gonna have troubles you’re gonna have problems how many can say well that’s for sure that’s truth yes that’s fact you’re gonna have problems in this world okay but this gospel of peace he says be of good cheer I have overcome the world and so.

▶ 47:35 Will you. See in me you’ll have peace in me you will overcome the world because I’ve overcome the world I’ve overcome the problems I’ve overcome the opposition I have overcome the tribulations isn’t that beautiful that we don’t have to fall apart when problems come. Amen that the gospel will hold us together. First Peter 4:12 don’t think it’s strange concerning the fiery darts which is to try you as some strange thing as some foreign thing abnormal thing unexpected thing has happened to you but rejoice same thing here be of good cheer rejoice to the extent that you are partakers of Christ’s suffering did Jesus go through troubles and problems and tribulation did he get mocked and laughed at yeah did he get rejected absolutely you think you’re above him.

▶ 48:50 And so what’s the gospel say this gospel shaped life when I [unclear] when I have a gospel shaped life I am of good cheer cuz I know he’s going to win the battle for me I can rejoice why because I know he’s going to win the battle for me can I hear an amen the gospel shaped life the power of the gospel will deliver me from these problems and these troubles and these trials and these tribulations. 1st Corinthians 10:13 there is no temptation no problem no challenge from the opposition [unclear] taken you but such is common to men everybody. Even in the world has these problems if you’re married you got problems.

▶ 49:44 and now what Paul said he said I want to spare you well I disagree I would rather have the problems with marriage and have my woman than be single and have those problems is that an amen all right you got kids you got problems and [unclear] a lot of them are like two or three o’clock at night they wake up sick [unclear] wake up with a nightmare whatever you got problem all right you work on a job you got problems if you get fired from that job you really got problems. [unclear] and he says this is common to men this is just normal the unbelievers go through this are you with me. But God is faithful who will not permit you to be tempted above what you’re able to handle but will with the temptation also make a way of escape and as a young Christian I stopped right there aha escape I’m out of it I mean I don’t go through this thing I didn’t read the rest of that verse [unclear] how many of you did that.

▶ 51:03 We got a lot of liars here this morning you know we got some dishonest people around here man I wanted [unclear] magic God snap his finger and get me out of this [unclear] but he didn’t stop there that you may be able to bear it I didn’t want to hear that I want it out. And I quoted all the scriptures to get me out yes and amen to them that believe [unclear] say to this mountain move and it’ll move [unclear] problem move and it didn’t move I used all the other scriptures I didn’t want to hear I didn’t want to know there was these other scriptures. but [unclear] you’re gonna be a real light to the world when they see you not falling apart in your problems.

▶ 52:03 They see you not. quitting on God in your problems [unclear] you’re a real light when you can handle problems without attacking the problem maker. Are you there. Doesn’t the Bible say love doesn’t demand its own way. Doesn’t it say that doesn’t it say love is kind love is patient. Yeah. love [unclear] doesn’t boast of itself [unclear] on the internet all I hear is I me myself people boasting how great they are. this Facebook is amazing it’s just a lot of people telling everybody what a great person they are and the people that know them no it’s not true.

▶ 52:59 [unclear] us on the other end just think wow this person really got their act together but the people that know them [unclear] got nothing together it’s just me myself and I [unclear] admire that but Love doesn’t boast of itself. Love isn’t proud love doesn’t demand its own way. and that really helps in a marriage and it really helps in raising kids when you really have by the Revelation word by the revealed word the rhema word love. Anybody can quote 1st Corinthians 13. But it takes a person dedicated to the gospel to let the gospel shape them to live first Corinthians 13.

▶ 54:02 And love bears all things believeth all things hopeth all things endureth all things it endures opposition. It expects God to do what he says love never gives up it never quits. And why do we have 52% of Christians getting divorced in America because they really don’t have rhema love they have human love logos love. And when the going gets tough they get going. They leave they want to get out of the problem are you with me. So I submit to you this morning do you want to be or the Holy Ghost submits to you this morning I should say do you want to be one that gets the result of a gospel shaped life.

▶ 55:08 Do you want to be an overcomer. The problems of this world instead of caving in to them instead of falling apart and getting depressed and getting angry. Do you really want this gospel. Do you really want to marry Jesus and be spiritually awake to lead others to him. Into a marriage relationship. do you really want oil in your lamp are you just satisfied with your religious form. Think about it. and only you can get the oil ain’t nobody can give it to you these other wise virgins weren’t stupid they weren’t giving away their anointing they weren’t giving away their oil you got to get your own oil amen so the Holy Spirit’s telling us will you let me give you the oil will you let me make you an overcomer will you let me make you ready to come into the spiritual house of God before the doors shut and we will learn later that there is a season where this door to the church is shut.

▶ 56:32 Do you want to be ready for the second coming do you want to be a Christian that is awake. That believes the gospel so much that you pay a tenth. So the church can get the message out that you actually spend time every day praying worshiping reading the word studying the word that you go to church and you come to church expecting God to use you. When you come together each one of you has a Psalm hymn spiritual song it’s not the job of the pastor to do everything it’s our job to come and say Lord we prepared ourselves we’re ready and if you want to use me today in a Psalm a hymn a prayer a spiritual song or whatever I’m ready a tongue and interpretation everybody scared to death of tongues.

▶ 57:27 so why quarrel about tongues why quarrel about water baptism let’s just get the gospel into it let’s seek it and let its power keep delivering us and a lot of us need deliverance from ourself how many could raise your hand and say that yeah that’s your own doubt that’s your own unbelief [unclear] your own hardheadedness your own stubbornness [unclear] the gospel has to liberate you from. So. If you are willing. To say God I want this gospel to shape me. not church bylaws I want this gospel to shape me into being ready for eternity and live strongly for you in this life and not fall apart if you want that would you stand with me in God’s presence.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: A congregant’s name is in the transcript only. Kept as spoken: “Revelations 9 17” (he then reads Revelation 19:7); 1 Peter 4:12 called “fiery darts.” Points to check: Khrushchev memorized the Pentateuch (14:00); a papal paper justifying Southern Catholic slaveholding (28:25); “52% of Christians getting divorced” (54:15); “90% of the people in the Bible” never spoke in tongues (27:00). Sensitive content kept as spoken: Mormons and Muslims “destroying a lot of people” (15:10); “unconditional love nonsense”; tongues-for-salvation “scripturally idiotic”; Jesus-name-only and holiness groups; fundamentalists said tongues are “of the Devil”; Southern denominations embraced slavery; “not for today” is “a total lie.” Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
