The Gift of God's Word: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Pastor David G. Kincer teaches that the word and the Spirit are synonymous (John 6:63), so the word gives new birth, growth and fruit. He shows the word working effectually in believers, the heart burning when Scripture is opened, the church’s call to preach the gospel the Lord confirms, and the blessing of reading, hearing, keeping and studying the Bible daily.
How are the Spirit and the word related?
Short answer: John 6:63: the words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life. John 1:1, 14: the Word was God and became flesh—Jesus is God. John 4:24: God is a Spirit. Love is the more excellent way to the gifts, to Jesus, to the Spirit and to the word.
▶ 0:00 We’re going to take a look at the gift of God’s word okay the gift of God’s word love is the most excellent way to the gifts love is the most excellent way to Jesus love is the most excellent way to the Holy Spirit and love is the most excellent way to the word of God in John chapter 6 verse 63 it is the spirit who gives life. All right the spirit who gives life. Now look at this statement the words that I speak to you are what spirit and they are life so the spirit and the word are synonymous terms. Right. Yeah.
▶ 0:56 John 1:1 in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us and we behold him as the only begotten son of God Jesus is the word all right and Jesus is God. Live with it that’s what the Bible says don’t get into this oneness and trinity nonsense just believe what the Bible says Jesus is God in the flesh God is God the father and the Holy Spirit is God spirit moving in the air amen that’s just the way the Bible describes it so the spirit is God the word is God the spirit is the word the word is the spirit can I hear an amen all right now you’re smarter than most average Christians now and John 4:24 God is a spirit.
Scripture in this part
John 6:63 (NKJV)
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
— John 6:63 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:18John 1:1 (NKJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
— John 1:1 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:56John 1:14 (NKJV)
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
— John 1:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:06 (quoted; reference not named in the message)John 4:24 (NKJV)
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
— John 4:24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:56What does the word do in believers?
Short answer: 1 Thessalonians 2:13–14: you received the word of God, which effectually works in you who believe, and you became followers of the churches of God in Judea—consistent everywhere. For that to happen you must open the Bible, read, study and keep reviewing.
▶ 1:55 Yeah it was somebody telling me that. According to a word in Genesis that God was a black person I go black? God’s a spirit. [unclear]. You know amen. And so God is a spirit God is the word the word is God and so forth synonymous terms so that brings enlightenment in first Thessalonians 2:13 writing to the Thessalonians the church at Thessalonica Paul says you received the word of God all right which is also what the spirit. Which is also effectively.
▶ 2:49 Which also effectively works in you who believe now I was pentecostal charismatic [unclear] about the spirit of God moving on us and working in us and so forth but this book this verse says what that the word of God effectively. Works in us [unclear] but how many of you know for that to happen you got to be in the word. You got to open that Bible and now right if you don’t open that Bible read and studied and it won’t be no working in you all right and so. Results of the words working in them all right this brings result when the word effectively works in you there is a work of a result and what is the result here in Thessalonica for the second chapter fourteenth verse you became what.
▶ 3:50 Imitators followers of God’s churches in Judea which are in Christ Jesus see they were in Thessalonica but they were just like McDonald’s hamburgers when you go to China you get a McDonald’s hamburger when you go to south America you get a McDonald’s hamburger when you go to America you get a McDonald’s hamburger you don’t get a variation. I mean oh we need the word working in us because in America we got diversity like crazy you go to one church and it isn’t a McDonald’s hamburger you go to another church and it’s really not a McDonald’s hamburger am I right. Alleluia and what is the problem we’re not letting the word effectively work in us because we’re not really reading and studying the word you can’t even get people go to Bible studies I have a Bible study through the week but they don’t really want to activate their brain they want me to just say something inspirational oh that’s good no you got to activate the brain you got to learn it you got to study it you got to pray about it you got to get it into you amen and then you got to keep going so it brings it back to your remembrance how many forget what you learned last week yeah that’s why you got to keep stimulating that.
Scripture in this part
1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV)
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
— 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:261 Thessalonians 2:14 (NKJV)
For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans,
— 1 Thessalonians 2:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:50 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does the word give birth and growth?
Short answer: 1 Peter 1:23: born again by the word of God. James 1:18: of his own will he begat us with the word. 1 Peter 2:2: desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow. You need to feed daily, not just Sunday and Wednesday.
▶ 5:19 So. Powerful powerful result here all right remember the [unclear] versus the word. Makes us born again first Peter 1 [unclear] you are born again by the word no I’m not I’m born again by the spirit yeah the spirit is the word so yes in gospel of John you’re born by the spirit but in. First Peter 1:23 you’re born again by the word and they’re synonymous term so you can’t say I’m born again if you don’t get into the word and let that word what birth you you see James 1:18 says the word births us.
▶ 6:11 So the word becomes very important and we need a love for the word the word causes us to grow first Peter chapter 2 right desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow [unclear] you know the word cleanses us the word makes us wiser than our enemies the word heals us everything is centered around the word now how many of us and can go through the week with two meals one on Sunday and one on Wednesday night.
▶ 6:49 No you would be a lousy employee you’d be dragging yeah you got to feed yourself what daily say we’re daily you have to eat now first the natural then the spiritual if that’s true in the natural then do we need to be feeding ourselves spiritually daily yeah and where is most of our problems stem from not getting into the word and learning it studying it reading it and applying it [unclear] we’re looking for some guru to pray a magic prayer over us the pope or you know Joel Osteen with his coach positive thinking or whatever just correct all of our problems but you cannot afford not to be in that Bible yourself.
Scripture in this part
1 Peter 1:23 (NKJV)
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
— 1 Peter 1:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:19James 1:18 (NKJV)
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
— James 1:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:191 Peter 2:2 (NKJV)
as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
— 1 Peter 2:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:21 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What happens when the word is opened to us?
Short answer: Luke 24:32: did not our heart burn within us while he opened to us the Scriptures? Jeremiah 20:9: his word was in my heart as a burning fire and I could not stop. Eternal life is too important to neglect or hand off to someone else.
▶ 7:44 Alleluia and you can’t wait for the mighty men of God or woman on Sunday to feed you you got to eat daily they should be confirming what you are learning through the week now that was good all right now. Luke 24:32 the apostles are on the road talking with Jesus after he rose from the dead and Jesus is opening to them the scriptures alright they don’t know who he is and they said this tremendous statement did not our heart burn within us see the word of God which also what effectively works in you and when Jesus open to them the scriptures their heart burned within them they were fired up they weren’t dead Christians anymore they weren’t lukewarm they were zealous they were on fire why because of the word being taught them while he talked to us by the way and while he opened to us the scriptures alleluia don’t you want your heart burning for the things of God on fire for the things of God amen but you ain’t it.
▶ 9:06 You gotta put some work into it folks I wish I could just pray a magic prayer or spray water on you like some churches do you no good. But it takes work and you cannot afford to. Ignore or give to somebody else the greatest. Thing on earth given to us is eternal life in Jesus Christ you just can’t afford to neglect that it’s the greatest thing we’re talking about eternity now more working effects of the word in Jeremiah 20 verse 9 Jeremiah said I’m not going to make mention of God’s name anymore I’m not going to speak anymore in his name I’m not going to speak any more about him and then the next verse I mean the next sentence says what but his word was in my heart as a burning fire see and then what we just read and Jeremiah.
Scripture in this part
Luke 24:32 (NKJV)
And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
— Luke 24:32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:04Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)
Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.
— Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 9:46What does Hebrews 4:12 say about the word?
Short answer: The word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing soul and spirit, a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It exposes why we believe what we believe.
▶ 10:13 Said then he says I. Could not stop. He could not only not stop speaking it but he could not stop living it it affected his behavior why because of the word of God works effectively in you successfully in you amen. Alleluia. Hebrews 4:12 more working effects of the word the word of God is living and powerful. Alleluia is the spirit living is the word living it’s not just a book like our enemies want to say the homosexual activist the humanists say that it’s a book of myths and fairy tales and it’s got a lot of discrepancies and it’s got a lot of bad.
▶ 11:07 Things in it and all this stuff this word is alive and this word is powerful and it’s sharper than any two-edged sword dividing the soul the person the fleshly part from the spirit how many of us need that I mean oh we desire things in our flesh that isn’t always what profitable for us and so the word will dissect that separate it so you can make a choice by the spirit what’s good for you and not go by feeling it is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart it will expose your thinking and why you’re thinking it it will expose your beliefs and why you believe it most of us believe conveniently because makes life easy for us it satisfies what we want but the word will separate that.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
— Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:42What is the fruit of the word?
Short answer: Because Spirit and word are synonymous, he reads Galatians 5:22–23 as the fruit of the word: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness (manners), goodness, faith (moral persuasion from the word), meekness and self-control.
▶ 12:12 Alleluia there’s no book on earth that good the Bible is the light of John 6:36 or 63 where it says the words that I speak to you they are spirit and they are life the word and the spirit are synonymous in the light of that let’s take a look at the fruit of the spirit in Galatians as. The fruit of the word they’re synonymous correct. Alleluia. Here we are Galatians 5:22 the fruit of the spirit is so we’re going to say the fruit of a word is is that correct is that fair absolutely that’s what the Bible says so the fruit of the word is love that means you don’t do anything to hurt anybody even God and yourself joy you got a smile on your face when no one else has you got joy that no man could take away that’s a great fruit your joy doesn’t depend on the circumstances around you you don’t have to have a birthday party to be happy.
▶ 13:23 Peace. Peace is the absence of conflict peace you’re not struggling with yourself you’re not struggling with God you’re not war with God in opposition to God you’re not in opposition to yourself you’re not opposition to what’s right you got peace oh yeah you’re not worried about the Hillside Strangler coming in and strangling you you got peace. Because you got an angel outside your door he can’t come in. Do you know you got a guardian angel. Okay this this one makes you trust the angel good grief relax. Long-suffering which means patience patience and you got patience with other people mainly because they got to have patience with you yeah you’re as irritable as they are and I right.
▶ 14:22 They’re not growing fast enough in God well you get the growing faster and then get the two-by-four out of your own eye then you see clearly get the splinter out of your brother’s eye you know that’s very going to work on ourselves alright gentleness is manners that means you don’t pass gas in a crowd you don’t belch you know smack your lips on you eat. And nobody at the table can have a conversation because everybody’s noticing you. Now I’m using these things because that’s what I do but yeah. You actually wash your hair every day. Comb it do something with it alleluia your spouse would love it or your girlfriend would love it use deodorant mouthwash toothbrush that’s all in the fruit of the word are you with me.
▶ 15:31 Well [unclear] manners goodness it means you do good how many of you know that. Sex outside of marriage God says is evil it’s harmful and all right so you do good you don’t do that you get married then you get married to the opposite sex and you stay married and so forth. Faith. Faith is moral persuasion you know faith isn’t just believing in something faith is believing in what’s right because faith comes from. The word of God and the word of God is right it is truth so faith is being persuaded of morals of what’s right. Amen. According to God’s word not your beliefs or not some book in the Christian bookstore alright then you got meekness that’s just being humble even though you did something great people want to applaud you and all that you ignore it you don’t need patted on the back to be oh you did such a great job you know you’re such a great person such a great singer it’s it’s a great position such a great horseback rider or horse trainer.
Scripture in this part
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
— Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:48Matthew 7:5 (NKJV)
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
— Matthew 7:5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:30 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why did some Spirit-filled people lack fruit?
Short answer: He saw people in Pentecostal services who went home yelling and not paying bills. The Spirit drove him into the Bible, and he concluded these fruits come by the word; without it to convict and challenge you, you won’t have them.
▶ 16:57 See when you’re humble you don’t need anybody exalting it you know who you are you do your job and you go on amen. Yeah. Self-control is just controlling yourself it’s you controlling yourself but I need to [unclear] slap yourself. And. Buck up and realize you got to make the decision and you gotta discipline yourself to do right and it is a fruit of the word. Against such there is no law now I got saved in a pentecostal church filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues and I. Couldn’t understand for years while these people could come in and [unclear] and shake and then they go out the door and they’re yelling at their husband or their yelling at the wife to lose their temper they don’t pay their bills and I go man how can they do that.
▶ 18:07 Because the Holy Ghost I got mad if I said something wrong you know straighten up boy. The Holy Ghost that I got drove me into the book wouldn’t let up on me it drove me into the book reading and studying it and it took years for me to understand. That these fruits are not just fruits of the spirit their fruits of the word and these people didn’t read the word they come to church on Sunday and the pastor back then preached a nominal message not depth at all I.
Scripture in this part
Galatians 5:23 (NKJV)
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
— Galatians 5:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:36 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Who has a form of godliness without power?
Short answer: 2 Timothy 3:1–5: in the last days men will have a form of godliness but deny its power—he says these are believers. Romans 1:21: although they knew God they glorified him not as God. He cites his survey that 27 of 44 denominations accept homosexual members.
▶ 18:55 Was there [unclear] that’s why I had to leave the church finally I I grew to a place where I knew more than they did and that’s not good is it no because I read the word and I studied the word and so I had to get to a church that could feed me they could they could expand on the work I didn’t want to just be a Christian waiting for the rapture to come and go to heaven I wanted to be a Christian there was a light to the world amen yeah the people could see the difference in you hallelujah and so I began to realize after years of seeking God and all that that their problem was these things come by the word and if you’re not in the word to convict you and to challenge you you’re not going to get these fruits oh. Yeah see you’re going to forget this about 20 minutes after you leave today so if you don’t go back to the word and get it reinforced in you you’re never going to have self control you’re never going to have meekness now the signs of the last day remember in 2nd Timothy 3:1.
▶ 20:07 Difficult times will come men will have a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from such turn away so these men these people he’s talking about are they believers or non-believer. Let me read the verse again in the last days difficult times shall come. Harmful [unclear] people will have a form of godliness a form of God’s goodness they know about God but they deny the power of it to live it. So is he speaking to unbelievers or believers believers yeah. Hallelujah Romans 1:21 although they knew God do these people that roam the Roman author’s talking about are they believers are unbeliever they’re believers although they knew that.
▶ 21:10 They did not honor God as God. But men had sex with men and women had sex with women and then it gives a list of sins that they were doing now he’s talking to who believer and see in America we are really fulfilling this. These scriptures that I just gave me I did survey last week on. American denominations Christian denominations 44 of them. 27 out of 44 that I survey. Accepted homosexuals as members of the church. Why because we are bombarded with.
▶ 22:06 Politicians and the media telling us that they deserve civil rights that they are an acceptable lifestyle and the Bible says they are not is it adultery and acceptable [unclear] no is incest an acceptable lifestyle see we don’t need talk about adultery anymore you notice that it’s whether you believe in homosexuality or not. Adultery is just accepted now. Yeah. It was interesting. When I got these churches I noticed that there was no pentecostal churches in a charismatic spirit-filled churches in them so I did a research on pentecostal churches spirit-filled charismatic the ones that got saved in and grew up in and I finally found one and it’s called the Affirming Pentecostal Church International the key is the word what.
▶ 23:16 Affirming and they were instituted in 2010 they weren’t a denomination before there and they came out of the Assemblies of God and the Churches of God and the Foursquare they came out of the pentecostal group to form their own group to say homosexuality is okay and they still believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongue doesn’t matter if they believe that if they were really filled with the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost is the spirit of truth. Whose truth God’s truth. Amen. So I was proud. To be saved in a pentecostal church alleluia man be filled with the Holy Ghost these people aren’t falling for this nonsense amen and you he says you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost will come upon you and you’ll be witnesses proof under me Jerusalem Judea and the other most parts of the world so.
▶ 24:25 Self-control. Faith. Self-control faith and goodness are lacking in 27. Denominations. God says homosexuality is an evil behavior. So they don’t have one good. The Bible says that faith comes from the word and faith is in the moral rights of the world they don’t have the faith listed here in the fruit of the word do they are you out there yeah they don’t come on the scriptures and then do they ask them to use self-control now if you accept their lifestyle they don’t need self-control say the the argument is if they are homosexuals then they got to stay celibate just like people that are heterosexuals and all they got to get married you know they got to follow the Bible right now there that’s what it is thank God for repentance and forgiveness amen hallelujah.
Scripture in this part
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
— 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 18:55Romans 1:21 (NKJV)
because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
— Romans 1:21 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:07What should the church preach?
Short answer: Mark 16:15: go into all the world and preach the gospel—all have sinned, the wages of sin is death, the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. A church afraid to tell sinners they are wrong is wrong. Even the Pharisees made converts (Matthew 23:15); what you preach matters.
▶ 25:41 So. We’re going to go to mark chapter 16 and look at Mark 16 in this light that the spirit and the word are synonymous Mark 16. Verse 15 go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature what is the one thing the church should be doing concerning the word [unclear] preaching it not our opinions not the latest psychology book out of the Christian bookstore we are to be preaching what the gospel the good news the word that God told us to preach and that is all have sinned and come short of the glory of God the wages of sin is death in the lake of fire but the gift of God is what eternal life through Jesus Christ the righteous hallelujah that’s the gospel and when a church is afraid to tell the homosexuals they are wrong the church is wrong.
Scripture in this part
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
— Mark 16:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:59Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
— Romans 6:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:38 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Matthew 23:15 (NKJV)
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
— Matthew 23:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does the Lord confirm with signs?
Short answer: Mark 16:20: they preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word with signs following. God backs up the preaching of the gospel, not opinions or church doctrine.
▶ 27:03 I. Look now what’s this. Results of the work of the spirit the word results of the word verse 20 and so the twelve apostles went and preached everywhere. The Lord working with them and confirming the word with signs following in every translation it’s in italics then. Because it’s missing in the greek so they put it in there for understanding every translation you got puts the word them in there but let me challenge you the Pharisees the Sadducees were they going out into the world and making converts were they absolutely.
▶ 28:03 We’re signs following them. No. No. Jesus even told them you’re a child of hell and you’re making converts two times more the child of hell you are. So going out into the world and preaching depends totally on what. what you’re preaching and that should be what the gospel. Yeah make sense yes so now let’s change this they went out and preached everywhere the Lord working with the word. Confirming the word with.
▶ 28:56 Signs following now you can feel the power in that can’t you yes if this church does not preach the word if we’re afraid to tell them sinners they are sinners we’re never going to have signs and wonders backing it up because God backs up the preaching of the gospel not the preaching of your opinion your church doctrine you’re doing your your your hero preacher tv preacher or whatever [unclear] I used to call him and I have nothing to do that it has to do with the gospel that God told us to preach and he would back it up with signs and wonders and healings. And see we have those in the late 40s and the 50s we had miracles happening and things to inspiring because God was moving in a fourth awakening and then it dissipated and you don’t see very many signs and wonders in America now but you do over see.
▶ 30:06 Cuz they’re over there preaching the gospel and God’s healing people and God doing miracles guys doing miraculous things so this church and me as an individual I need to get serious about the gospel of Jesus Christ I need to get into the word so it will work effectively in me and people can see it and then they can ask me the hope that is in me and I can say then the hope within me is this Bible and the Bible talks about Jesus were to believe he’s the messiah he’s the anointed one he is the Son of God and in that belief I could have eternal life both now and eternally amen. Hallelujah a love for God’s work is a more excellent way for.
Scripture in this part
Mark 16:20 (NKJV)
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
— Mark 16:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:15What does loving the word bring?
Short answer: Psalm 119:165: great peace have they who love your law, and nothing shall offend them. Following the Bible avoids harm from alcohol, tobacco, drugs and sex outside marriage. He trusts God’s promise of long life for honoring parents; Jesus is a stumbling block to the religious, not to those who love the word.
▶ 31:03 Successful living folks and everybody I knew that took time to read the word and especially praying after it or the word they have had a healthy life they have had a good life they are old now and they have nothing to look back on. That they’re sorry for and God kept it. Hallelujah. God bless them and I could give you names a lot of of people that did apply the word into their life and God bless them okay. Psalms 119:65 165 great peace have they which love your law the word of God and nothing shall what nothing’s going to offend them what’s going to offend them.
▶ 32:10 Nothing. You offend me. Grow up. Grow up get into the word a fin means several things that means you will die in your sin nothing will cause you to die in sin. Nothing will ruin you here on earth you see cigarettes tobacco those things bring. Physical harm to you and an early death you see but when we follow the instruction of the Bible we avoid alcohol and cigarettes and things that hurt us drugs. We avoid sex outside of marriage and stuff so we don’t get sexually transmitted diseases like fifty four percent of the American people have you see.
▶ 33:03 And we get a long life I remember as a young Christian [unclear] they were telling me I couldn’t eat snicker bars I die early [unclear] we’re going to freeze to death remember that your ones yeah yeah and now it’s the hothouse thing and all that and I just I just finally said you know I just got to put my trust in God’s work he said if I would honor my parents and I would not lie that I would have a long life and I’m going to eat practically but I’m putting my trust in the word to get me to old age and it worked I eat my snicker all snicker. Bar day keeps the sweet tooth away yeah oh.
▶ 34:03 Yeah the whiter the bread the quicker you’re dead all that so man don’t eat bread don’t do this ah you know just just be normal God has more power to get you to old age and live effectively everyday. Than all those books in the Christian bookstore and in the library secular library can I heard him at because God can’t line when he promises you something he will do it all right and you know that’s a stumbling block also as Jesus Christ. Nothing shall offend them nothing will cause them to stumble who. Stumbles over Jesus Christ. Religious people their trust is in the religion their trust is in their opinion and instead of going to Jesus they.
▶ 35:06 Live by their opinions their denomination their group and Jesus said you won’t come to me that you might have what life so Jesus is a stumbling block for people that want to do what they wanted it. But if you love the word you won’t stumble over Jesus you won’t stumble over sin you’ll have a great life. Amen is that the promise that’s the promise and I’m 73 now and I can tell you it works. It works. Daily reading and weekly study of their scriptures will keep these values in your remembrance and applying them in daily life you start ignoring ignoring the word and you start listening to extreme teaching and extreme people you’re going to make decisions it’s going to bring harm to you that’s the bottom line me when I know their extreme I just ignore them I just I get away from I.

— Psalm 119:165 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 31:03Ephesians 6:2-3 (NKJV)
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
— Ephesians 6:2-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:34 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How should we approach the Bible?
Short answer: Isaiah 34:16: seek out the book of the Lord and read. Seek it like hidden treasure. Revelation 1:3: blessed is he who reads, and they who hear and keep it. He recommends a chapter of Proverbs and a page of Psalms daily and reading the Bible through.
▶ 36:07 Like the practical gospel alleluia just makes sense so. Isaiah 34:16 seek the book of the law of the I’m sorry seek the book of the Lord and what. Breed is that so difficult anybody need a hebrew and greek interpretation of that. And do you need one of the megachurch pastors coming in and explaining writing a whole book about this one sentence so you can understand it it just says what read and the stronger word is what.
▶ 36:49 Seek. Seek. You have no problem seeking for buried treasure well somebody give you a treasure mountain there’s a million dollars buried up man yet no obstacle will keep you from following that map right that’s what the Bible says you seek for this as for hidden treasure and there are hidden treasures in this book and Christians don’t get them because they don’t seek seeking means you that the heat in the desert no water in the desert you overcome all the obstacles oh I’m just dry the church is dry when you seek you don’t know dryness are you there why because you have a goal you overcome the obstacles. And alleluia [unclear] and that what our prospectors did in America when they wanted to find silver and gold they let no obstacle keep them from searching until they found it.
▶ 37:55 Stronger work Revelations 13 bless it bless it all through the Bible is speaking good of you or doing good to you goods going to come that’s what blessed me. And blessed is he who reads you just read it you’re going to get a blessing God’s going to do your good just because you took time to read the thing. And I highly recommend one chapter of Proverbs every day one page of Psalms every day Proverbs will tell you how to live in this life Psalms will tell you how to live in the spiritual life all right and then you read your book through your Bible through I tell you it will maintain you it will change your life it’ll keep everything in remembrance oh yeah and God’s going to bless you but you got to put some effort into it you gotta get up and open the book you got to turn off the tv and turn on the Bible I.
▶ 39:07 Don’t have any time oh they can watch soap operas and they can watch movies and yeah they can go hang gliding they can go surfing but they got no time for the book I. Mean no we can fit it in. It’s not that we can if we want. So we’re going to change that today bless it in he who hears that’s Bible studies like you’re here today see God is challenging you to the word today because you’re here you say you’re going to hear somebody confirm what you’ve been reading or what you should have been reading amen and what you should be doing and keeps the word now this is a bigger blessing when you actually read it you get understanding of it and you apply it [unclear] of the blessing and God can’t lie folks he’s going to bless you all right you don’t have to be delegated billionaire or anybody to live a great life on earth.

— Revelation 1:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 37:55What does 2 Timothy 2:15 require?
Short answer: Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Use dictionaries and reference books. He studied four hours one night a week, read daily and listened to Scripture driving to work.
▶ 40:23 Alleluia. Keeps the words of this prophecy prophecy is speaking by the inspiration of the spirit is the whole Bible inspired by the spirit yeah Peter right. Second Timothy 2:15 study to show yourself approved unto God study now who is is the this is like seat this is like seek you gotta put some work into this you got to get you a dictionary you need to get you a Bible pictorial dictionary you need to get you a [unclear] Manners and Customs book so when you read something you can know what it is saying a lovely.
▶ 41:17 So the Holy Ghost made me read the Bible every day and on one night a week I studied that I set aside family time and everything I studied that book after I eat dinner. Said goodbye to my kids I went in my room and I studied that book for four hours and then I read it every day read it through my lunch hour every chance I had I read it and when the cassette tapes come out I listen to the scripture and when people put sermons on [unclear] I would listen to sermons so I could speed up my growth process is that just logical good logical stuff yeah I either going to be listening to the news over and over and over and over and over there’s news addict or I’m going to be listened to the rock station of the country music station of the contemporary music and I’m going to feed myself with that or I can feed myself spiritually while I’m driving to walk.
▶ 42:21 Anywhere I. Told you before I pulled up many a time to work weeping because of a message I was listen to two or the scriptures they just they just exploded in me I just I just wept. From the effect that it had in me how are there and I’m nobody I’m just like you got I just put in the time a workman that needs not be ashamed or most Christian is a shame you ask that you know the the opponent’s ask them a question and they can’t answer it and I right I mean these guys are 30 years old in God and they can’t answer a simple question. And rightly dividing the word of truth haven’t you know if you’re going to divide that word a better be right in that correct now I’m you know common sense most of us know from common sense common sense is what since that everybody has.
▶ 43:31 You know need a college education for this or anything the Bible is a book of wisdom and common sense it’s just common sense not to commit homosexual acts just looking at the statistics they looking at the results of their lifestyle common sense tells you if you didn’t have the Bible common sense we tell you there’s something wrong here in that correct hallelujah so it isn’t difficult what I’m saying is it isn’t difficult to divide the word of truth.
