Pastor David G. Kincer looks at the boy Jesus going to Jerusalem each Passover. The feasts picture Christ our Passover, unleavened sincerity and the firstfruits resurrection. When His parents lost Him for days, they found Him in the temple asking questions. Christians can lose Him without noticing; God wants to ask us questions and be heard in quiet obedience.

So we pick up our story and look 2:41 his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of patho. At 12 years old they went to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast so 12 years he’s gone to Jerusalem at the temple every year for the feast of Passover now that is very important and this.

What feasts came in the first month?

▶ Watch this part (0:52)

Short answer: Passover on the fourteenth, Unleavened Bread on the fifteenth, then Firstfruits.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:52 Is why there are three feast in the first month called the Passover on the fourteenth it is called the Passover on the fifteenth that is called unleavened bread and on the fifteenth. 14:50 sixteenth it is called firstfruits now what does that mean I’m glad you asked. The feast are a shadow like the other shadows of things to come and this is why Luke brought this up. We’re going to go to first Corinthians 5:6 a little laven that’s yeast leavens the whole lump of dough okay we understand that therefore purge out the old leaven you don’t understand that all right what’s old got to do with anything.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Leviticus 23:5-11 (NKJV)

On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.’ ” And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

— Leviticus 23:5-11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:52

What does unleavened bread picture?

▶ Watch this part (1:53)

Short answer: Purge out the old leaven so you may be a new lump; Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 1:53 But he’s going to give us understanding. That you may be a new lump a whole different lump of dough. The dough is made new as the yeast is. Taken out of it you ever tried to take yeast out of dough. Can’t do it but God can. Alright. Since truly you are unleavened you say he’s saying you guys don’t have leaven in you is it making sense so far no I didn’t think of what now let’s continue. Jesus Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us oh.

▶ 2:49 The Passover was a day when they sacrificed the lamb put the blood over the door to keep the death angel from coming in okay God covered them so Jesus is our Passover he is our lamb that was slain he shed his blood and now we don’t kill animals anymore the shadow of Passover is fulfilled by the Christ of Passover. Amen now that should be easy to get. Continuing therefore for this reason let us keep the feast of Passover unleavened bread and first fruits not with old leaven eleven is the shadow law we don’t kill the Passover lamb anymore.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

— 1 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:53

What is the leaven of malice?

▶ Watch this part (3:48)

Short answer: The old leaven and the leaven of malice and wickedness; keep the feast with the bread of sincerity and truth.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:48 Amen that’s the old leaven okay. That’s the shadow law or he adds another yeast another leaven to the story or the leaven of malice and wickedness malice is hating people wishing the harm would come to them and not forgiving them you know just you you hope bad things happen to them it you got animosity toward them and we this is you know partying drugs alcohol. Out of married sex and all that stuff that’s wickedness the Bible said okay so there’s another levin he introduces and that would be wickedness and sin.

▶ 4:44 But with the unleavened bread you get the wickedness the malice out and you get rid of the shadow law you have bread without yeast and that leaves the dough with sincerity and truth’. You’re sincere you are genuine you’re not serving God pretending. No pretense you’re genuinely. Seriously serving the Lord Jesus Christ when you get rid of these shadow laws and this malice and hatred for people and wickedness then you got sincerity and truth and the Bible says the truth will set you free the truth will heal you the truth will cause you to grow the truth is very important.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV)

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

— 1 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:48

What is Firstfruits?

▶ Watch this part (5:40)

Short answer: Christ the firstfruits; afterward those who are His at His coming, when the body comes out of the grave.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 5:40 And that’s why they went up every month Jesus was going to fulfill this Passover unleavened bread and first fruits let us continue we haven’t got the firstfruits yet. Christ is risen and become the firstfruits of the dead. Okay in the Old Testament they brought in the first fruits of the harvest in the spring harvest those things that grew through the winter and they harvest them in the spring God was never interested in that he was pointing to the resurrection of Jesus Christ that’s what the feast of firstfruits pointed to what okay he’s the firstfruits and all those patriarchs and people in the Old Testament the main people the graves were open and they came out of the grave at the same time Christ came out of the grave that was the first resurrection the firstfruits.

▶ 6:48 Okay and if you want to understand the 144,000 in Revelation you just might connect it to that it really might help you. Just throw that up now. Then afterwards at his coming there’s going to be another resurrection the second record resurrection when at his second return. So if Christ rose rose from the grave so are we gonna rise from the grave and a lot of people on facebook don’t understand this they don’t understand that that bodies coming out of the grave I am shocked that.

▶ 7:29 They don’t understand that that’s just basic Bible to me I mean that that’s kindergarten stuff. That body is coming out of that grave your spirits gonna be joined to that body and you’re gonna be with Christ forever and ever and you’re gonna have a new heaven and a new earth can that be any man that’s the promise and they go well that can’t be he’s talking about dispute no he’s talking about him putting that body in an immortal in mortal condition where a dozen decayed doesn’t have blood it doesn’t die and you’re gonna live with that new mortal body of your spirit in it forever and ever amen and the proof is God is in Jesus it is Jesus gonna live forever and ever absolutely did his body come out of the grave yes after the third day he’s supposed to be rotting and stinking. The proof we’re gonna rise is that Christ rose from the grave amen the firstfruits who’s the firstfruits of the resurrection Jesus Christ yes and the saints of old that rose with him in the book of Matthew gospel of Matthew so.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 15:20-23 (NKJV)

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.

— 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:48

What comes after the resurrection?

▶ Watch this part (8:43)

Short answer: Then the end, when He puts all principalities and powers of darkness under His feet.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:43 Again speaking of the resurrection. And his coming the resurrections going to take place then the end then the end so after he comes and after we rise some more things are going to happen in that what he’s saying yes he is going to put down all enemies under his feet and he lists the enemies that he’s going to put under his feet when he comes all rulers all authorities now we know that there are civil rulers we know that there are family rulers and that right we know that there are church rulers he’s going to straighten them all out how many know we need some straightening out yes.

▶ 9:34 And then the powers the principalities and powers of darkness he’s going to bring them under his feet Satan and the demons and anything to do with the kingdom of darkness he is going to put him down and put him under his feet and then the last enemy he it says there in first Corinthians 15:16 is death the last enemy he’s going to put down and put under his feet is death no more died whether you died a bad person and resurrected you’re going to keep living forever and whether you died a good person and resurrected you’re going to keep living forever because death is abolished and then. Very interesting so. Luke knew this was very important you see Jesus fulfilled these feasts he comes and gets the leaven out of us of malice and wickedness and turns us from the shadow laws to the real laws that’s why it says up here you are truly unleavened by the blood of Christ you are unleavened everybody got it now yes now.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 15:24-25 (NKJV)

Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.

— 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:43

What happened when Jesus was twelve?

▶ Watch this part (10:50)

Short answer: Mary and Joseph returned home but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem; they supposed He was with them.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 10:50 Afterward they return at age 12 Jesus is at the temple. Observing the feast of Passover and Mary and Joseph returned home but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem very interesting isn’t it they forgot God. Mary and Joseph forgot God and Jesus. Neglected to follow his parents command. Joseph and Mary knew not. Supposing him to have been in the company and that’s what a lot of us don’t understand is we once knew God and then like simpson we do something that the spirit draws back and we still think God is with us.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 2:42-44 (NKJV)

And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

— Luke 2:42-44 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:50

Can Christians leave God without knowing it?

▶ Watch this part (11:56)

Short answer: Yes. We suppose we have Him because we’ve had Him for years, but now we don’t.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 11:56 We suppose we had him because we had him for 12 years. But now we don’t have it are you hearing the allegory is it possible that Christians can leave. God yes. And they sought him among the kinfolks and acquaintances folks getting with your buddies and your family and all that is not gonna get you the richness of God. You gotta find him for yourself so they go to the family and the fact that’s what we do we go to we hope Joel osteen will do something to rejuvenate us so we hope you know some other minister do something or some music or no you got to go find Christ yourself even if you once had him you got to go back and renew it and so.

Where did they find Him?

▶ Watch this part (12:56)

Short answer: After three days, in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening and asking questions.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 12:56 They found him not so they turn back again to Jerusalem seeking him now they traveled a day’s journey right so one days gone by guess how many days it takes to get back to Jerusalem one day that they traveled to get away from it so two day have gone by. After three days they found him now how many days have gone by two plus three is five thank you smart bunch five days have gone by now listen. Jesus had to wash he had to take bass he had to eat he had to sleep they don’t record this but he’s gone for five days without his mother and stepfather there.

▶ 13:50 Five days. They found him were in the temple where two or three are gathered together I will be in the midst okay he is building a spiritual house we’re gonna find God in the gathering of his people the real temple. Amen and we should put more money into the real people instead of the mortar on the building the mortar on the building is temporary the people are eternal. They found him in the temple. Alleluia right where he said he would be the house of God you are the temple of God the Bible says you are and he sitting in the middle of the master teachers the priest describes the guys that memorized the whole penta tude they found him there in the midst of these people that were telling the people what the Bible says and memorized the whole penta to these master teachers and he both heard them and asked.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 2:45-46 (NKJV)

So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

— Luke 2:45-46 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:56

Does God ask us questions?

▶ Watch this part (15:04)

Short answer: Yes. He asked him, how are you treating your wife, Dave? How’s your mouth? We like Him to hear us, but we need to hear Him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 15:04 Them questions and I submit to you I had to learn as a young Christian that when I went to the house of God I had to pray so he would hear me I had to worship so he would hear me are you there. Allelujah these people that won’t pray and won’t worship. God they’re not hearing anything he wants to hear he wants to hear he even wants to hear your complaints if you don’t want to worship and pray give him your complaints give him your anger at your brother talk to him in one way or another because the second thing is he’s gonna ask you some questions how you doing Dave.

▶ 15:59 How you treating your wife Dave. How’s your mouth. How are you speaking Dave are you there now the problem with us pentecostals as we just like for him to hear us. We want to worship we want to pray and we want to prophesy and we don’t want to talk talk talk talk how many you know when you’re talking with someone you got to shut up so they can talk. And if you don’t that’s rude it’s rude to monopolize the conversation isn’t it. Hallelujah are you getting the picture here you see these little nuggets written in the scripture.

▶ 16:56 Hallelujah. So God is asking them questions and guess what he’s asking them. Well you think about the wise men coming to worship the king of the Jews. You think it’s any different what do you think about the shepherd’s going to worship the Lord savior. And Christ. Jesus is saying he’s the Lord he’s the savior he’s the Christ and he’s the king he said what you do with those guys what do you think about those guys. What do you think about I am the Christ I am the savior I am the king that’s coming I am the prophet that’s to come he’s asking him question.

Why have a quiet time?

▶ Watch this part (17:53)

Short answer: To hear Him talking to you; we could use a little shutting up and listening.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:53 Are you there I love it I. Mean want God to ask you some question yeah how many want to pray and worship and then have a quiet time where you can hear him talking to you in your conscience that is the important part if all you do is talk to God yell at him and whatever we do and then you run off you don’t get his response and he may be wanting to talk about a lot more than you just talked about in prayer and worship I had to learn as a young Christian to shut up and listen. If I was gonna learn I had to learn to shut up and listen I.

▶ 18:46 Mean it could use a little shutting up and listening yes. Yeah we like that feeling that comes from worshiping and that feeling is so good come on and when we really into that praying in the spirit that that anointing that presence of the spirit ah that feels good but let me tell you if you’re not allowing to talk to you you’re going to get up from that prayer time and out of that worship time the same person that you came in with. Now. All that hurt him now remember they’re here in the temple and there’s a hundreds of thousands of people coming and going in this temple for five days we’re talking about thousands of people they heard.

▶ 19:40 Not just the master teachers. Don’t you want a conversation with God that affects others yes. Yes when I’m out witnessing and I get going I see lift my voice you can hear me a hundred foot away and then I get a crowd I get a crowd out there and all including the master teachers were astonished they marveled at his understanding and answers. Church Christ is going to come to not just hear you and asked you questions he is going to open your understanding to your issue he’s going to tell you what to do about the season you’re in or the problem you’re in and how to get out of it.

How does God guide us?

▶ Watch this part (20:41)

Short answer: By small instructions, like telling him not to eat his lunch; as you obey simple words, He gives answers, solutions and strength.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 20:41 That’s beautiful. Is it God understands how to get you through problems. But we just don’t take time to listen to him and if he has to [unclear] some little thing we just think oh that’s trivial the trivial stuff in God returns great dividends. Alleluia I remember when I first got saved and on Wednesday after I got saved I was asking God I don’t want to be one of these Christians that just come and go if I’m going to serve you I want to serve you I want to follow you all the days of my life and that was my prayer after I got saved because I had seen such garbage going on in a Christian community people come people go great testimony and then the next week they’re out back into the world didn’t want to do that didn’t want to be inconsistent so Wednesday at noon I went to get my lunch at work and something inside and he said don’t eat it and I literally.

▶ 21:54 Literally looked around I literally did and so my God that’s that’s crazy and I started to get my lunch again said don’t eat your lunch and so I didn’t eat my lunch no one told me about fasting. The church didn’t I this was three days after I got saved but I really got saved Christ really came into my life and so the Holy Spirit was convicting me if you want a solution to following me all the days of your life start fasting I’d already started praying that’s normal we just know Christians pray right don’t we yeah.

▶ 22:42 And as I did that over time it doesn’t happen in one day then God begins to give you answers and solutions and strength because you obey a simple word of instruction that he gives you and he will give you answers for your problems your doubts your unbelief if you will talk to him about him if you will read the word he will give you answers do we understand that church we don’t have to go to the Christian bookstore for answers we can go to God and that Bible and you’ll never be able to stand before him and say I did this and it didn’t work it works. Hallelujah we just you know in the church or do we just want microwave popcorn we just want God to do it we don’t have to work for it we don’t have to in fact churches teach not of works not of work like you don’t have to do nothing to grow you got to do something to grow it takes work to read the Bible it takes work to pray take work the worst of jegs work to get up in the morning and go to church on Sunday and worship with the body of God doesn’t it.

▶ 24:00 What they don’t understand is not of works of the shadow laws that’s what they don’t understand those things don’t work the real laws work. Now. These are the same man who knew the king of the Jews was born in Bethlehem as the musicians come the same men these wise teachers they knew the king of the Jews in the wise men came to Jerusalem but they did not go did you hear me they knew 12 years ago that the messiah was born the king was born and they didn’t go they didn’t accept it they knew that they heard that the shepherd’s saw the saviour the Christ the Lord and they didn’t go and accept it why because they were looking for ace a messiah that had to be a king he had to deliver them from the roman empire and Christ came to deliver us from the kingdom of darkness not the roman empire and so they literally because Jesus didn’t line up to their theory of the first coming they rejected him haven’t even know we could do that at the second coming we got our theories and if Christ came a different way we could reject him.

Why didn’t His own receive Him?

▶ Watch this part (25:24)

Short answer: They had in their heads how the Messiah would come; He came to His own and they received Him not.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:24 Well that was good. Did you hear that statement. See they had it in their head the way the messiah was going to come and they when he came they couldn’t receive him because he didn’t line up and the Jews today have that same. Idea of how the messiah comes and he’s not coming that way. Be it unto me according to you where. Now God the savior the king and the Christ is there talking to them God is talking to these master teachers and the people that are hearing and still.

▶ 26:16 They don’t know and accept him because it they does not meet their criteria of how they interpreted the Bible. Well that was another good amen. Church did you hear that what can be our problem today we got our dogmatic interpretation of scriptures and certain things and if Christ comes genuinely another way we reject him. Some people don’t even believe you can know God even though it’s in the new covenant that all won’t know me from the least of the greatest they don’t believe that you can have a genuine intimate relationship with Christ like job said I know in whom I believed and I’m persuaded I.

▶ 27:17 Know my redeemer lives I should have said. John 1:11 he shall come into his own and his own received or accepts him not but all that did receive him gave he what power to become sons of God this is a supernatural thing that God is doing it’s not an intellectual thing it involves the intellect it’s a supernatural thing see you can read your Bible intellectually but unless you seek God to open it up to you you’re just not going to get it. Most of us read what we’re told to look for I had to overcome that one you know the the popular books of the day and the popular ministers tell you what to look for in the Bible and that’s what I went in looking for and God had to literally stop me in my tracks and say son you need to start all over again and just look for me and let me show you truth and that changed my whole life when I stopped looking for what they told me to look for and reading it how they told me to read it I started understanding scripture are you there so.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 1:11-12 (NKJV)

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

What did Jesus tell His parents?

▶ Watch this part (28:46)

Short answer: Why did you seek Me? Did you not know I must be about My Father’s business?

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 28:46 Here’s Jesus and his growth he said to Joseph and Mary why do you seek me don’t you know that I must be about my father’s business he just separated Joseph from being his father to God being his father Joseph with his guardian father God was his real father and the father had a business every business is out to what make profit and I write they want to return on their investment Jesus investment is in the people he died on that tree and his profit is being in multitudes into the kingdom of God with him amen they didn’t understand it says they did not understand folks they angels visited them. Many times the angels visited them they even prophesied and here 12 years later they don’t understand is it possible we don’t understand.

▶ 29:49 But we can get understanding if we go to the house of God worship and pray and seek him he said he will answer us he will give us understanding amen. Then he went with them to Nazareth and was subject unto them to fulfill the scriptures you saw honor thy mother and my father and here it is Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men how many want to increase. Stature. Spiritually physically you grow but spiritually you only grow as you eat and exercise the word amen. Naturally you only grow as you eat and exercise the body spiritually you only grow as you eat the word of God and exercise it he grew in stature now Christ grew in stature do we yes Jesus grew to maturity stature means maturity and he grew in wisdom.

How did Jesus grow?

▶ Watch this part (30:56)

Short answer: He increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 30:56 Folks how we need wisdom oh. And you got to grow in it it isn’t just popped in on it and in favor with God and men as the children are dismissed. That word favor is the same word for grace grace is not a magic thing it’s just God favors us to come and die for us. To touch us to grow us alright and his favors to the whole world. But he didn’t just grow in favor with God he grew in favor with men but how many of you know all men don’t want God. So if you think you’re gonna get all men to like you you know you better forget it but for those who are looking for truth they are going to favor you.
