Such A Heart - October 30, 2022: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
“Oh that they had such a heart.” God looks at the heart, not success. Israel believed the spies’ report, but Caleb wholly followed; Belshazzar saw his father humbled yet didn’t humble himself; leaders rejected Jesus to keep their place. Ask God for a clean, new heart.

Lord Jesus when they looked upon David when he was young God and they said oh he’s all out in the field Jesus. Then they came in and Samuel anointed him king Lord his brothers didn’t know what was going to happen in his life Lord and he who had greater things for him later on in his life God he grew from a warrior became a warrior God he grew into because king Jesus Jesus Lord because you had greater things for him and why because he had a heart for you God I pray this morning that as young people in here old people whatever age we are that we would get a heart for you and your kingdom to follow you to live for you God Lord the scriptures say that you look at the heart God you look inside God you want to give us a new heart and God this morning we pray that we would be like David God and Lord receive those things that you have in store for us the greater things Jesus because we have a heart for you to follow you to follow you no matter what Jesus pleases for me thank you amen.

▶ 23:50 So. All hero of heaven. Broke every chain oh God. Have done great. You have done. Oh God. Hallelujah.
What does God want?
Short answer: Oh that they had such a heart to fear Me—God desires a broken and contrite heart more than sacrifice.
▶ 25:10 Jesus. You may find your seats this morning. In this presence. Deuteronomy chapter 5:29 as we heard last week oh that they had such a heart in them that they would fear me and always keep my commandments that it may be well with them and with their children forever. So the blessing here is to us and to our children if you want to have a blessed home if you want to have a blessed family you can start with this very important principle and that is fearing God keeping his commandments. It will bless and benefit your family I’m have not saying you’re not going to problems because we’ve all had problems but it’s.
▶ 26:08 Going to be the best thing for you and your family. Psalms 51:16. Says for you do not desire sacrifice or else I would give it you did not delight in burnt offering the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and contrite heart a heart that is responsive a heart that will respond to God and his word. In your life you should have a goal do you have a heart that is responsive to Jesus Christ to his word to God. It says these o God you will not despise in the Psalms he will not despise. A responsive heart so we’re going to look at the Israelites. In the Old Testament Deuteronomy chapter 5 27 the leaders and elders.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 5:29 (NKJV)
Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
— Deuteronomy 5:29 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:10 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Psalm 51:16-17 (NKJV)
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.
— Psalm 51:16-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:08 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Did leaders and gifted people have that heart?
Short answer: Israel’s leaders sent Moses instead of meeting God; Samson had the Spirit but didn’t do right.
▶ 27:05 In Moses’s time said you talking to Moses go near and hear all that the Lord our God may say tell us all that the Lord our God says to you and we will hear and we will do it. So the leaders had an opportunity to meet with God personally but they rejected God. They had an opportunity to experience God but they didn’t want that. And once Moses told them what to do or told them what God said they didn’t listen to what God had said to do. So they were full of baloney. Numbers chapter 11 24 Moses went out he told the people the words of the Lord he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle the Lord came down and a cloud spoke to him took the spirit that was upon him and placed the same spirit on the 70 elders so these elders that had rejected God still became God still put his spirit upon them so in spite of their problems God still is moving forward.
▶ 28:24 But it just shows you that you may have a spiritual gift. Maybe the spirit is upon you we remember the spirit was upon Samson but we know Samson wasn’t doing what was right. Maybe you’re a leader ceo manager in charge of people whatever you are does not mean you have a heart. That God is looking for. As we just heard in Samuel 16 7 before Samuel anointed David king God clarified and he said I look at the heart not the outward appearance. Not how beautiful you may be not how successful you are.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 5:27 (NKJV)
You go near and hear all that the LORD our God may say, and tell us all that the LORD our God says to you, and we will hear and do it.’
— Deuteronomy 5:27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:051 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
— 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 28:24Does success impress God?
Short answer: No—Musk, Gates, Bezos, Buffett and every president will give an account; God looks at the heart.
▶ 29:16 Not how athletic you are I look at your heart. We got Elon Musk here that’s the seal of the president of the united states you have Bill Gates Jeff Bezos Warren Buffett all these accomplished amazing wow oh my gosh what they’ve done forever all wow look at all their accomplishments their success all the billions of dollars they have but do. They have a heart for God I would say based on what I’ve heard them say no. Jeff Bezos. Was in charge of one of the biggest I mean amazon we know is a huge company making billions of dollars successful beyond his wildest dreams but he’s going to stand before God.
▶ 30:10 He’s going to have to give an account for his life does he have a heart for God. Same with Bill Gates all the presidents of the united states 46th president 48th and who whatever the number is Elon Musk mr successful sending rockets into space. He’s going to have to stand before God if you’re not fearing God and keeping his commandments your heart isn’t right God doesn’t care about your accomplishments he doesn’t care how successful or athletic or famous you are. He’s looking at your heart. You may be catholic baptist. Protestant orthodox methodists all of our different denominations God doesn’t care about your title we care about that stuff.
What did the spies’ report do?
Short answer: It discouraged the people’s hearts with exaggerated giants; they trusted someone else’s evaluation of God.
▶ 31:05 He cares about what your heart. He cares about whether or not you will fear him obey his commandments listen and follow his word. The spies I’m sorry and Deuteronomy Deuteronomy chapter 1 verse 22 every one of you come near to me let us send man before us and search out the land for us and bring back word to us of the way by which we should go and of the cities into which we will shall come so this is before Israel was going into the promised land they decided they were going to send out some people to search out the land and we’re going to figure out which way we should go all right so this is how it starts out we have this plan we’re going to figure out our path right our route. Now God says it’s for us God says it’s flown with milk and honey okay we want to figure out how we’re going to get in that was why they sent people to search it out right.
▶ 32:07 That was their goal. In Deuteronomy chapter 1:28. They said where can we go up. Our brethren have what discouraged our hearts. The people are what greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. We have seen the sons of the Anakim there the giants. And you got to remember when they came back with all this news there were 12 people that brought this news back you know there was over a million people in the crowd right.
▶ 33:03 They never those million people never saw the giants. Those million people never saw the fortified cities. Fortified up to heaven which is an exaggeration right somebody’s got some storytelling skills. How big was the fish I mean. It just keeps getting bigger every time you tell the story. And because they put their trust in somebody else’s words they were robbed of an inheritance that they never saw. And we can be robbed an inheritance that we haven’t even seen. Because we put our trust in somebody else’s words.
▶ 33:57 Somebody else’s evaluation of God and we have an investigated and searched him out ourselves. We haven’t investigated the church and searched it out and tested out ourselves we trust what other people say. We haven’t investigated whether or not his way in his scriptures and coming to him his way will work we just trust what other people say. And we are robbed of our inheritance. Our hearts can be influenced in many directions but this morning we recognize that we need a heart after God David stood before the giant why because his heart was different.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 1:22 (NKJV)
“And every one of you came near to me and said, ‘Let us send men before us, and let them search out the land for us, and bring back word to us of the way by which we should go up, and of the cities into which we shall come.’
— Deuteronomy 1:22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 31:05 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Deuteronomy 1:28 (NKJV)
Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, “The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.” ’
— Deuteronomy 1:28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 32:07 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How quickly did Israel forget?
Short answer: Months after the Red Sea; only David would face Goliath, because of his heart.
▶ 34:54 The whole Israelites all there was nobody willing to stand before Goliath no champion no athletic successful accomplished person even Saul who is tall he wasn’t going to stand before Goliath. But David because he had what a heart. He knew. What God wanted. Deuteronomy chapter 1:29 you have seen all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes and in the wilderness clouded uh where he carried you. So these folks that had just rejected the promised land had just seen what had happened in Egypt the plagues they had just seen what happened in the wilderness how the cloud went before them the cloud of his presence by day and a pillar of fire by night it God carried them through the wilderness led them through the wilderness they had just seen all this happen it was months.
▶ 36:01 That it took to get to the promised land only a few months now I mean I know I forget quickly. But a few months after coming through the red sea coming out of Egypt and seeing all that happen you can’t forget that stuff that’s big stuff. I mean maybe if we’re talking 20 30 years but still. Months. Deuteronomy 1:34 the Lord heard the sound of your words and was angry and took an oath saying surely not one of these men of this evil generation who shall see that good land the people said in their hearts God has brought us here to kill us. By the amorites so they’re at the promised land they hear all this bad news and they say God brought us here to kill us by these giants.
▶ 37:01 That’s what they had thought. They didn’t think God was bigger than the giants no. And we were just singing songs about things the Lord has done amen great things that the Lord has done many of you are Christians been Christians a long time and you guys have seen great things being done and more than that we have Christ and what he has done on the cross now we weren’t physically there but we know he he did die because when you pray you ask him to come that load of sin is lifted and you can feel and experience Jesus Christ you know that resurrection is powerful because when you commit to him he comes and he gives you strength.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 1:29-32 (NKJV)
“Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. The LORD your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ Yet, for all that, you did not believe the LORD your God,
— Deuteronomy 1:29-32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 34:54 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why was Caleb blessed?
Short answer: He wholly followed the Lord—the majority isn’t always right.
▶ 37:55 He’s real and yet with all of that people still. Will turn their heart from God. Deuteronomy chapter 1:36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh he shall see it and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked because he wholly followed the Lord wholeheartedly. Caleb he had what a heart he had a heart. Now how many spies were there there were 12. How many believe that God could bring him in two. Is that a minority yes. Just because other people can argue their position better say that they’re you know we’re more than you so we’re right no.
▶ 38:56 Just because you’re in the minority doesn’t mean the majority is right just because you you guys all agree on something doesn’t mean you’re right. And it’s the same in the church whether you’re a hundred against one or a hundred against two or or a thousand against a hundred it doesn’t matter where is God at. Where is his position and that is the position that Caleb and Joshua stuck with and that’s what we’ve got to stick with. Is our heart lined up with God. And Caleb was preserved. He. Had to wait 40 years but he didn’t die and he inherited land when he came when when they inherited the promised land he was there.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 1:36 (NKJV)
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he wholly followed the LORD.’
— Deuteronomy 1:36 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 37:55 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does God deal with the world’s rulers?
Short answer: Nebuchadnezzar’s pride was humbled until he knew the Most High rules.
▶ 39:52 God blessed him for it so we understand here that God blesses a good heart amen. We’re going to look at king Nebuchadnezzar who was a heathen king he was a secular king he wasn’t part of Israel. We’re looking at the world now how does God approach the world how uh God what does God expect. Just because we’re Gentiles all of a sudden does he expect something different what’s the what’s God’s expectation Nebuchadnezzar’s heart Daniel is talking about Belshazzar right now balBelshazzar is Nebuchadnezzar’s son when Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened and pride he just he was disposed from his kingly thrown and he took his glory from him he was driven from the sons of men his heart was made like the beasts and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys they fed him with the grass like oxen and his body was wet with the dew of heaven.
▶ 40:53 Until he knew that the most high God rules in the kingdom of men and appoints over it whomever he chooses now you have to understand Daniel is talking about Belshazzar and he’s reminding them of what happened in Daniel chapter 4. If you haven’t read Daniel chapter 4 you need to read through chapter four because it is written by king Nebuchadnezzar himself and he is addressing everybody on this planet. He is addressing every person and whoever you are. And he’s saying this is what I have concluded about God. And his conclusion that it was at the most high rules in the kingdoms of men and he appoints over at whomever he chooses God is in charge God has authority God is in charge of what’s going on in your life.
▶ 41:51 And his heart Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was proud. And uh you you’ve got to read this story I’m not going to go through it all but Nebuchadnezzar had pride in his heart. And what God was trying to show Nebuchadnezzar is yeah you may be proud you may think you have this great kingdom and you may think it’s because of you but it’s not because of you I put you here. And so it goes all it all goes back to the heart whether you’re a poor person whether you’ve got a hundred dollars in the bank or a billion dollars in the bank it doesn’t matter your heart matters. How are you responding to Christ how are you responding to his word how are you responding to the most high God.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 5:21 (NKJV)
Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.
— Daniel 5:21 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 39:52Why was Belshazzar judged?
Short answer: He saw it all yet did not humble his heart; the hand wrote on the wall and the kingdom fell that night.
▶ 42:48 And so his son Daniel here is talking to his son. And he says to his son Belshazzar have you you have not humbled your heart although you knew all this so Belshazzar his son watched his dad go through all of this all of these things becoming like an animal he watched his dad all of a sudden he’s talking to him one day the next day he’s like dad are you all right and he’s just you know growling or I don’t know what he was doing mooing he’s eating grass he lost his mind cuckoo right. He’s out there he’s naked his his nails are growing long I look like I don’t know that man. Right.
▶ 43:41 Belshazzar observed all this he watched it happen he saw it happen and king Nebuchadnezzar you know when his mind came back when he realized the most high God rules he talked to his son he said you know son you know what the most high God rules. So Belshazzar is without excuse. And val Belshazzar still lifted up himself against the Lord of heaven. Not just him. His leaders. His family. And they praise the gods of silver and gold and see this is the problem none of them had a heart to respond to God his family his leaders they all just went along with it.
▶ 44:47 And God’s got a problem with that. And God judged that kingdom. And he wrote I don’t know if you guys know the story he wrote on the wall a hand showed up a just a hand and started riding on the wall and Belshazzar is sitting there and it says that he was trembling his knees were shaking and he is peeing his pants. Daniel comes and he interprets what the writing on the wall and says your days are numbered. God has finished your kingdom you have been weighed evaluated judged in the balances and found wanting. Why. Because his heart was evil.
▶ 45:41 Okay so through all that. The summary is get a heart after God. Don’t reject God have a heart to hear what he has to say. Your kingdom is being divided and given to the Medes and Persians so we also understand here. That God is a God of truth that this this saying is real because as soon that night it all happened. Everything changed we know we know from history the Persian kingdom took over the Babylonian kingdom it’s in history. You can go and look it up we know God’s word is truth and this is just like the Israelites not receiving their promise God dealt with the secular kingdom and Israel the same he gave the secular kingdoms a chance by giving them first-hand accounts that they should follow God uh.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 5:22-28 (NKJV)
“But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified. Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written. “And this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
— Daniel 5:22-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:48 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why did leaders reject Jesus?
Short answer: They feared losing their place—zeal without knowledge, a beautiful temple but unclean hearts.
▶ 46:42 Nebuchadnezzar responded right but the son didn’t. Caleb responded right but the other ones the people didn’t God bless the people that had a heart to respond to him. In the New Testament in John chapter 11 verse 45 then many of the Jews had seen the things Jesus did and believed in him the chief priests the Pharisees gathered to counsel if we let him alone like this everyone will believe in him oh what a horrible thing. The Romans will come and take away both our position our place and our nation. So you see their heart here their heart here has nothing to do with God their heart has to do with their position their heart has to do with everything that they’ve built up to this point we’ve worked so hard to bring everything back to this way uh we we can’t this guy is interrupting everything.
▶ 47:49 God I mean no he’s not God this man Jesus. Gotta get rid of him gotta snuff him out. How many you know that’s not a good reason to reject God. This is kind of like the way Saul was he was more interested in the people not interested in what God wanted. Romans chapter 10 verse 2. Paul writes and says they have a zeal for God just because you have a zeal for God does not mean you have a heart after God. Saul of tarsus before his name was changed to Paul he had a zeal if you remember he had a zeal for uh what he had been taught he had to zeal for the the law and he was imprisoning Christians those who were following Christ until Jesus showed up one day and stopped him in his tracks and changed Saul to Paul.
▶ 48:56 We have Acts chapter 6:14 we have heard many say that Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us. Uh Moses’s the customs delivered by Moses or the altar the laver I’ve been I’ve been talking about these things the garments the incense the showbread candlestick ark of the covenant exclusion of the Gentiles only the priest could go in all those rules all that stuff those are the customs he’s talking about. Yeah Jesus has come to shake it up he wants everybody to come in we are the fulfillment of those things that were given to Moses. The religious people of that day they wanted to go to the temple they wanted to keep the temple nice but they didn’t want to be the temple.
▶ 49:52 They wanted to keep the temple beautiful but they didn’t want to be beautiful on the inside. Because we are the temple of the Holy Spirit amen that’s what the scriptures say. We fulfill Moses’s tabernacle by following that fulfilled pattern of coming in and worshiping like uh the the altar of incense we learned about all this stuff a few weeks ago what does that tabernacle mean and how do we fulfill it. We are the temple. Matthew chapter 23 verse 27 he Jesus said to these religious people or the Pharisees and Sadducees you are like whitewashed tombs that appear beautifully outwardly a beautiful outwardly but inside are full of dead man’s bones and all un cleanliness.
Scripture in this part
John 11:45-48 (NKJV)
Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”
— John 11:45-48 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 46:42 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Romans 10:2 (NKJV)
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
— Romans 10:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:49 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Acts 6:14 (NKJV)
for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”
— Acts 6:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 48:56 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Whom does God include?
Short answer: All nations—neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female.
▶ 50:48 And so here we recognize yeah you may look good on the outside but inside your unclean. And God is looking for. People. That have a heart that is clean on the inside remember the scriptures say create in me a what clean heart. The religious people that wanted to exclude the nations but God from the beginning in the Old Testament even in the Old Testament has always wanted to include all nations Isaiah chapter 2 verse 2 in the latter days the mountain of the lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains and all nations say it all nations shall flow to it Psalms chapter 22 verse 27 all the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord all the families of the nations shall worship before you the kingdom is the lord’s he rules over what the nations just like king Nebuchadnezzar found out amen.
▶ 51:59 Psalms chapter 117 praise the Lord all you nations Gentiles laud Him all you peoples. Galatians chapter 3:28. Paul gives us the way God sees things he says there is neither Jew nor greek there is neither slave nor free male nor female God is not looking at you as a male or female oh you’re a female I can’t I can’t work with you. Oh you were born over there you were poor I can’t work with you no no no no no no no no he’s not looking at that. It says you’re all one in Christ Jesus what is Christ looking at what is God looking at he’s looking at your heart. Are you responding. To him. As we have learned past few Sundays and reminded of Ezekiel 36 the new covenant and throughout the scriptures we’re reminded of the new covenant I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you I will take out a heart of stone.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 117:1 (NKJV)
Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!
— Psalm 117:1 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 51:59 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Galatians 3:28 (NKJV)
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
— Galatians 3:28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 51:59 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Can a stubborn heart change?
Short answer: Yes—He takes out the heart of stone and gives a heart of flesh.
▶ 53:09 And give you a heart of flesh if you say I’m a stubborn person oh I can’t change I’m this I’m that why it’s because you have a hard heart. And believe it or not God can take your hard heart and he can change your heart heart. He can take out of you a heart of stone and give you a tender heart. Toward him toward his work he says I will put my spirit within you and cause you cause you you guys hear that word cause you cause you wow. Right now you might have a perspective of God as oh he’s the rule guy he’s the one who wants to wreck my life he wants to take the fun out of everything he just wants to mess with me. No when he gives you a new heart he puts his spirit in you he’s going to cause you. Inside in your heart you’ll have this desire.
▶ 54:03 Please him to honor him to live for him it’s going to cause you to walk in his statutes to keep his judgments and do them you shall be my people I will be your God you’re going to belong to me none of this taking the lord’s name in vain you’re not just a Christian oh yeah I’m a Christian and then your life has nothing to do with Christian. That guy’s a Christian that girl’s a Christian I remember walking up. Um I was at a park in brea and these guys were out there playing basketball I’m like hey how you doing and I started talking to one about Jesus he’s like you know. You know he’s smoking something he’s like you know we we smoke and we cuss and everything but you know actually all go to church and I’m like what foreign. Guys I’m like hey man.
▶ 55:02 I can’t take God’s name in vain just because our parents want us to be Christians. Just because we want fire insurance or whatever it is that’s not God’s goal we’re going to be his we’re going to be following him wholeheartedly. Are we following him wholeheartedly. We’re going to sing a song this morning create in me a clean heart. And I’m going to invite you to stand with me in a few moments not not just yet. But I’m gonna pray this morning. So God is asking us this morning will our heart be as discouraged against his promise. But the children of Israel were discouraged in their hearts and turned and pointed the finger at God and said God you brought us here to kill us no God hasn’t brought us here to kill you.

Ezekiel 36:26-28 (NKJV)
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.
— Ezekiel 36:26-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 53:09How does the service close?
Short answer: “Create in me a clean heart,” prayer for the churches, laying hands on Ryan before his baptism, and “Make Me New.”
▶ 56:06 God has brought you here so that you can overcome so that you can inherit something from him. Will we reject the things that we have seen and move against God. Both king Nebuchadnezzar and the Israelites they had seen God do great things. And yet they still turned their hearts against him are we going to care more about the temple and our position than a right heart. Acts chapter 7 51 Stephen was standing there and he was speaking to the Sanhedrin you stubborn and uncircumcised in heart you always resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did so do you are we going to be stubborn.
▶ 56:58 Not having a tender heart toward God. Psalms chapter 51:10 says create in me a clean heart o God and renew steadfast spirit in me. Romans chapter 12 verse 2 says do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind your heart this morning. Above a lot of other things that we may need. We may need wisdom we may need knowledge we may need to understand it we may need all of that but this morning we’re going to focus right now on a new heart. A clean heart a renewed heart.
