From the sermonStupid and Twisted on the Edge · Pastor David G. Kincer▶ 0:00

In this message Pastor David G. Kincer teaches from 2 Peter 3:16 and 2 Peter 2 about “untaught” and “unstable” people who twist the scriptures. He lists doctrines he says are twisted, including once saved always saved, the prosperity doctrine, purgatory and infant baptism, discusses who interprets scripture, and says believers should be like the Bereans and search the Bible daily.

What does it mean to twist the scriptures? (2 Peter 3:16, 2 Timothy 2:18)

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: He says 2 Peter 3:16 speaks of the “untaught and unstable” who twist the scriptures to their own destruction, and “twist means to distort, to explain falsely, to misinterpret.” He gives the early church teaching that the resurrection was already past (2 Timothy 2:18) as an example, and says “once saved always saved” is a distortion that is “not in the Bible anywhere.”

▶ 0:00 So we have been teaching on a disregard of Bible doctrines, and second Peter 3:16. “Untaught and unstable people twist the scriptures to their own destructions.” Twist means to distort, to explain falsely, to misinterpret. Okay, and to change the meaning of. They twist it, they change it, they distort it. Now this is a very important scripture in the Bible that most Christians don’t even bat an eye at, but it’s very important, and if you’ll listen this morning, you’re going to learn a lot. All right.

▶ 0:59 I’m going to give you a list of things on the screen that the early church twisted. 2 Timothy 2:18: some people were teaching in the early church that the resurrection is passed already, there’s no more resurrection coming, and they overthrew, overthrown the faith of some. They’ve overthrown people’s faith. Why? Because if you have no hope after death, what’s the point? There’s no no judgment after death, there’s no reward after death, what the point? So people wouldn’t believe, and that was a New Testament distortion of scripture. I got two underneath that for today. “Once saved always saved” is not in the Bible anywhere, and I can prove that once saved always saved does not work. In the Old Testament, God told Moses, “He that sins will I blot out of my book.” Now if he blotted them out of the book, were they in the book? Yes. So were they believers? Were they followers? Could they be blotted out? And over in Revelation it says what? Only those in the book will go in to eternal life. Isin’t that right? Yeah. Hallelujah. There’s a lot more scriptures in that.

What does he say about Jesus drinking wine, the prosperity doctrine, and grace without works? (1 Timothy 6:5)

▶ Watch this part (2:23)

Short answer: He says nowhere does the Bible say Jesus drank wine, and he says the faith camp and prosperity camp are a doctrine Paul told us to withdraw from. He says “grace and faith without works” is also twisted, because laws such as honoring parents and not committing adultery still apply, and that the Bible is “a book of truth,” not just “a book of faith.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 2:23 One, “Jesus drank wine.” So I can, nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus drank wine. Nowhere. They said, “Well, you know, he changed the water to wine in Cana.” Yeah, didn’t say he drank it. He said he changed the water to wine. “Well, at the communion table.” At the communion table he said, “I will not drink of this cup till I drink it with you in the kingdom.” He didn’t drink the cup. They did. Hallelujah. And these Christians that promote drinking and getting intoxicated when it’s destroying families, it’s destroying productivity on the jobs, it’s destroying kids, it’s very foolish, and it’s not Bible, and you can’t use Jesus for that. Okay, the second one. In the Old Testament, is 1 Timothy 6:5, “gain his godliness, from such withdraw yourself.” That’s still a doctrine today. That’s the uh prosperity camp and the faith camp, you know, name it, claim it, give and it’ll give back to you. Everybody’s going to be rich. In churches that, in churches I go to to preach, the more jewelry you have, the more spiritual you are, and it’s ridiculous. In the New Testament church, Paul frowned on it, and it’s still with us today. But underneath that is two doctrines: grace and faith without works.

▶ 3:46 “All I need is grace and faith, I don’t need any works. You know, we’re not under the law, we’re under grace.” You’re telling me I’m not under honoring and obeying my parents? That’s a law. You’re telling me that I commit can commit adultery, when the Ten Commandments says “Thou shalt not commit adultery”? That’s a law. “Thou shalt not steal” is a law. And I’m so, what I’m to not do that, I work at doing good, honoring my parents, not committing adultery, sexual immorality, not stealing, and so forth. “The Bible is a book of faith.” Nowhere in the Bible does it say the Bible’s a book of faith. These liberal theologians have brainwashed us into that. the Bible The Bible says that faith comes by hearing God’s word. The Bible says that the Bible is a book of truth, ain’t that right? “My word is truth.” It’s a book of truth, and it can be used, truth can be used in any debate. But you see, these people won’t let us use the Bible in science or in politics, because they don’t want to hear moral standards, moral responsibility. So they say the book is a book of faith, it’s religious, you can’t use it. No, it’s a book of truth. Can I hear an amen? All right.

What does 1 Timothy 6:20 mean by “science falsely so-called”? (1 Timothy 6:20)

▶ Watch this part (5:11)

Short answer: He says “science” just means “knowledge,” and the Bible “never contradicts real science.” He says people once believed the earth was flat or the center of the universe, while the Bible says it hangs on nothing and is a sphere, and that falling for false science leads into error.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 5:11 Next one is the same chapter of Timothy, 6:20: “Avoid oppositions of science falsely so-called, some professing have erred concerning the faith.” Now remember, at this time people believed that the earth was flat, that the earth was held up by something, and the Bible says that the earth was hung on nothing, and the Bible says that the earth is a sphere. Remember, science at this time thought the earth was the center of the universe and the sun rotated around it. Are you there? And so people given into knowledge and science from Plato and all these guys would fall into error, cuz the Bible never contradicts real science. And what is the word for science? Knowledge. it Science just means knowledge. That’s all. It’s not some magic word that makes a scientist a guru.

What does he say about claims that homosexuals go to heaven, that the Bible was written by men, and that Jesus is not God? (John 14:6, John 1:1)

▶ Watch this part (6:20)

Short answer: He says that some well-known preachers and a TV host teach that homosexuals go to heaven and there are other ways to God, but Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life,” and “you cannot call Jesus a liar.” He says the Bible was written “as the Spirit inspired them,” and recounts telling a Jehovah’s Witness that John 1:1 and “God with us” show Jesus is God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 6:20 Then underneath that, “Homosexuals go to heaven.” Joel [unclear], TJ [unclear], uh, Oprah, uh, all the these people are saying. And [unclear] had Oprah at his family conference. I can’t I can’t imagine a Pentecostal preacher having an Oprah. I can’t imagine a Baptist or anybody having an Oprah who says there’s other ways to God by but Jesus right on our TV show. And Jesus said what? “I am the way, the truth and the life.” You cannot call Jesus a liar. Amen. Uh, you know, pedophiles, incest, sexual, they all don’t go to heaven. It’s not just homosexuals. “Bible was written by men.” The Bible doesn’t say it was written by men. It was, say it was written by men as the Spirit inspired them, gave them the direction. See, that’s a big difference, isn’t it? “Jesus is not God.” I just had a good discussion with the Jehovah’s Witness this week, and I asked him, “Is Jesus God?” and he said no. I said, “Well, how do you account for John 1:1, ‘In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God,’ and ‘the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld him, as the only begotten Son of God’? The Word is God. The Word is Jesus. Isn’t that right?”

▶ 7:56 So he says, “Well, you’re talking about the Trinity.” I said, “I didn’t use the word Trinity. I never used the word Trinity. I said if I had to make up a word that explain God, I’d have to use Quadrinity.” He goes, “How? What do you mean?” And there’s no such word. Now there was no such word as Trinity before they made it up either. Because “in the beginning was” what? The Word. “The Word was” what? God. And “the Word became flesh amongst us, be we beheld him as the Son of God,” who is Jesus. There’s three. Who’s missing? The Holy Spirit. Four. I’m just trying to get your brain to think instead of just believing what people tell you. You need to get into the book and find out what it says. So I just explain God as God explains it. I don’t use Quadrinity or Quatron or Tribun or Trinity. I just say what the verses say. And I told the guy, I said, “What do you do with his name is called Emanuel, God with us?” Not the Son of God with us. God with us. Jesus’s name was Emanuel, God with us. So is he God or not? He’s God. Are you there, church?

Does the Bible contradict itself, will there be marriage in heaven, and who is the antichrist? (Matthew 22, 2 John 7)

▶ Watch this part (9:26)

Short answer: He says the few differences, such as the rooster crowing twice or three times, or a king’s age in Kings and Chronicles, “doesn’t take away from the truths of the Bible,” and that he set out to know the scriptures for himself. He says the Bible “plainly” says there is no marriage in heaven, cites 2 John 7 that the antichrist is anyone denying Christ came in the flesh, and says the Jews today “believe in that nonsense.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 9:26 Now, “the Bible has many errors.” Folks, there’s only a few errors in the Bible. The crowing twice in one book and crowing three times in another book does not take away from the truth of the Bible. Who cares if it crowed once, twice or three times? The thing of it is it crowed, and whatever Christ said was going to happen, happen. Ain’t that right? Jesus denied it. I mean Peter denied it. Allelujah. And then there’s another one over in the Bible, where in a king, in one Chronicles, in Chronicles, in another account in Kings, says this king is 8 years old, and the Chronicles it says he’s 18 years old. I mean, no, that doesn’t take away from the truths of the Bible. And these atheist that said the Bible contradicts himself, I can explain everything to them that they say is a contradiction, that because they don’t know the scriptures. Hallelujah. I happen to know the scriptures. If I said I didn’t know the scriptures, I’d be a liar. I set out my heart to know the scriptures when I first got saved. Eternal life was too important for me to trust it into a man preaching from the pulpit one day a week. I wanted to know this stuff for myself. Hallelujah. It takes time to learn this thing.

▶ 10:44 Uh, Matthew 22:28. Early church said they were marriage in heaven. There’s the Mormons believe there’s marriage, the Muslims believe there’s marriage. You know, it’s a twisted doctrine. They make it up, they invent it, they invent a thing. The Bible says plainly that in that, in heaven, in that world, in that age to come, we neither marry and are given in marriage. He said, “You do are, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.” Say, you guys don’t know beans. And what woman wants to be married to a man up in heaven? Geez, when Jesus Christ is there. “Christ hasn’t come in the flesh.” And this is 2 John chapter 7, and he says that this is the antichrist. And he says there are many antichrists. So what is the antichrist? People that say Jesus hasn’t come in the flesh. They’re still looking for the first coming of Christ. We’re looking for the second coming of Christ, aren’t we? Aren’t we? Yeah. And so the Jews are still today believe in that nonsense. All right.

What does he say about purgatory, limbo and infant baptism? (1 Corinthians 1:21, Acts 2:38)

▶ Watch this part (12:03)

Short answer: He says purgatory, limbo and infant baptism are doctrines the Catholic Church admits are “a tradition of the church,” with “no such thing in the Bible.” He says God chose the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe, and that a baby cannot understand preaching or repent, since repentance comes before baptism.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 12:03 “Purgatory, limbo and baby baptism” our present day doctrines. Purgatory is where you go when you’re, you know, been baptized and you’re saved by grace but you’ve been sinning, and you can work your way out of purgatory. People can light candles for you and get you out of that temporary place and you can go to heaven. No such thing in the Bible. Just totally fantasies. And I tell the Catholics, to their face, and uh, and even on the Catholic page, they they admit they made it up, they created it, it is a tradition of the church. Uh, limbo, that’s where babies go that aren’t baptized, so every Catholic gets their baby baptized. There is no infant baptism in the Bible. Are you there? Okay. “God has chosen the foolishness of” what? Preaching “to save those that believe.” Can a little baby understand preaching? No way. Come on, church. “Repent and be baptized.” What comes before baptism? Repentance. How’s a child going to understand right and wrong when he’s 6 months old, when he’s 6 weeks old, or 6 years old? He’s learning right and wrong. These are these are twisted doctrines that people just accept because they don’t read the book themselves.

What does he say about “don’t judge,” and what does Acts 15 show about twisted doctrine? (Acts 15)

▶ Watch this part (13:39)

Short answer: He says people who tell him “don’t judge” are themselves making a judgment, and that he can say with “the authority of the Bible” that God says homosexuality is wrong. He says there is “no time to turn no cheek, it’s a time to talk,” and uses Acts 15, people teaching that circumcision was required for salvation, as an example of a twisted doctrine the Bible “brings them out of.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:39 “Don’t judge or condemn.” Now this is so stupid. You know, I debate with the homosexuals, I debate with Oprah and so forth. “Don’t judge me.” I go, “Do you understand that you’re judging? You’re making a decision when you say homosexuality is okay. You are making a judgment, and you’re telling me not to judge. You’re doing the very thing you’re telling me not to do. And you’re condemning me as a liar, as a religious idiot. You’re you’re condemning me as speaking lies, when you yourself are speaking lies, because God said homosexuality is wrong, and I can make a judgment. I can make a decision to say that with the authority of the Bible.” Amen. And they just look at me, where “Where do you come from? What planet are you on?” Yeah, you’re telling me not to judge. Oprah, and you’re judging. You’re telling me that all roads lead to the same God, and you’re telling me that you can get to God without Jesus. You’re making a judgment. And you’re telling everybody I’m an idiot, right on your TV show, I am wrong, I’m a liar, because I tell them what the Bible says, Jesus is the only way. Hallelujah.

▶ 15:17 Does that help you? Have some stuff in your mind that when you get hit with this, you got something to say, instead of just, “Oh, I’ll just turn the other cheek.” Ain’t no time to turn no cheek, it’s a time to talk. You know, when I debated these homosexuals the last time out there with the TV cameras and everything else, Christians come over and says, “We shouldn’t be doing that, you should just love them, and, and you know, just.” I said, “Where, what planet are you on? What church you go to? What Bible are you reading? These people need to be told, because God wants to save them.” Amen. Not going to save them by letting them think they they’re okay. Anyway, Acts 15. There’s a group that came into the New Testament church and said you got to be saved by circumcision, not just believing in Christ, not just obeying his commandments, but if you’re not circumcised, the foreskin of the penis cut off. What do women do? Well, in Africa they circumcise them, they circumcise the walls of the vagina, they mutilate them, cut them all up, and the Bible brings them out of that nonsense. I mean, just logic tells you that’s stupid.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Acts 15 (NKJV)

And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question. So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them. But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.” Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: “Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.” Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles. And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: ‘After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does all these things.’ “Known to God from eternity are all His works. Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren. They wrote this letter by them: The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings. Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”—to whom we gave no such commandment— it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell. So when they were sent off, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter. When they had read it, they rejoiced over its encouragement. Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words. And after they had stayed there for a time, they were sent back with greetings from the brethren to the apostles. However, it seemed good to Silas to remain there. Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.” Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark. But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

What does John 8:31 say about people who believe but do not live right, and what is “grow in grace”? (John 8:31, 2 Peter 3:17)

▶ Watch this part (16:46)

Short answer: He says those who thought they were saved by faith were told by Jesus “you are of your father the devil,” so “when our faith does not move us to live right, we’re still under the kingdom of darkness.” He criticizes “liberal Christians” who do not believe in judgment, and reads 2 Peter 3:17-18 to be on guard against the wicked and “grow in grace.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 16:46 John 8:31. They believed they were saved and freed by faith. They told Jesus, I “But we believe in Moses, we believe in God, you know, we’re saved and we’re we’re free because, you know, we believe,” and Jesus said, “You are of your father the devil, and the works of your father you do.” When our faith does not move us to live right, we’re still under the kingdom of darkness, is king who is Satan. Amen. “Today, all religions lead to the same God.” I covered that literally. “No eternal fire or judgment.” There’s a lot of the church world that does not believe that a God of love will punish anybody, and they identify themselves as the liberal Christians. That’s what they call themselves. That’s no, I’m not calling them names, they titled themselves that. So I’m telling you, watch liberal Christians. They don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God, they don’t believe there’s a judgment after, they had just got, is love, and you know, he can’t do bad. and all All right.

▶ 18:04 So there we have it: untaught, unstable people twist the scriptures, distort them to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:17, the very next verse says, “Seeing you know these things before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in grace.” Are we supposed to grow in grace? Yeah. Grace is something you grow in, “and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” So here we have Peter plainly telling us that the wicked had infiltrated the church, and they were teaching things that were twisting the doctrines and destroying people’s lives that listen to them, and he says, “Now you know this stuff, you be careful that they don’t lead you astray.” And do we have wicked coming into the church in America and all over the world wanting to change everything? Absolutely. And some of them are good speakers, some of them have charisma. I don’t care what kind of charisma you got, when you don’t teach truth, you’re wrong.

Who has the right to interpret scripture? (Luke 24:27, Hebrews 1:1-2)

▶ Watch this part (19:26)

Short answer: He says “nobody has the right to interpret scripture” and that the Bible “interprets, explains itself.” He cites Luke 24:27 where Jesus “expounded” all the scriptures to the apostles, and Hebrews 1:1-2, that God has spoken to us by His Son, and says we cannot trust Calvin, the pope or Wesley but must “connect the verses.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 19:26 Now everybody tells me, “This is your interpretation.” All right, well, that’s how you see it. I said, “Listen, don’t use that word with me. Nobody has the right to interpret scripture. Nobody.” And they look at me like, “I said nobody.” I don’t have a right to interpret the Bible. interprets, explains itself. I don’t have a right to go and get a scripture, “Well, the Hebrew means this and the Greek means that, and, you know, I think this is what it said.” No, you better find out what where else in the Bible it says what it say. Do you understand that? And I’m going to prove it to you. Luke 24:27: “Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he,” Jesus, “expounded,” which means interpreted, explained, “unto them all the scriptures.” How many of the scriptures? All the scriptures, “the things concerning himself.” Who is our interpreter? Jesus himself. And he told these apostles, he explained it to them, interpreted the scriptures to them. And folks, we can trust the apostles and we can trust Jesus. We can’t trust Calvin, the pope, Wesley, I don’t care who is your big hero in history or today. You’ve got to go to Jesus and the apostles, and they will, if you keep reading, somewhere explain everything God’s trying to tell you, and you don’t have to interpret anything, you just have to connect the verses. Man, that was good.

▶ 21:27 But see, we never read the Bible, so we wouldn’t even know. We we come to church one time a week, or we get on, a watch TV, and we think we’re doing something good. You got to get into that book yourself. You got to know this stuff is true. Hebrews 12, or one two: “God has in these last days.” Now verse one says in the old days God spoke by the prophets. Verse two says, “but in these days God has spoken unto us by” who? By who? “By who son his Son.” Folks, Jesus is the one that interpreted, and he passed that interpretation on to his apostles, and that’s why the epistles of the apostles are so important to us, because every one of them is addressing a twisted doctrine that’s coming into the church. Hallelujah. And they got it firsthand from Jesus. Don’t you trust me? That’s why I give you these sheets. That’s why I tell you, go home, dig this stuff out, make sure we are telling you the truth. Because it’s the truth that sets you free. It’s the truth that causes you to grow. It’s the truth that heals you. Ain’t no magical ceremony. I wish I could, I wish I could spray water on you or throw oil on you or something and zap, but you have to get the truth, and the truth will do the work. Hallelujah.

What does it mean to be “untaught” and “unstable,” and why does he use a rock on the edge?

▶ Watch this part (23:09)

Short answer: He says “untaught” means uneducated people who do not read their Bible and so are vulnerable to anybody, while “unstable” people change the scriptures and “they’re on the edge,” easily knocked off. He says being “balanced” on a point without a foundation is not balance, and “the foundation” is Jesus Christ.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 23:09 And the Holy Spirit is a spirit of truth. Who are these people that say, “By by the Holy Ghost, that was real to me,” and they’re lying? It’s a spirit of what? Truth. “Untaught” is just simply uneducated, stupid people. They don’t read their Bible, they don’t study their Bible, so they are vulnerable to anybody that says anything. Then you got the “unstable” people who change the scriptures, they waver in the scriptures, they’re unreliable concerning truth, and they’re on the edge. And I like this, on the edge. You know, they’re easily knocked off. You see this guy, man, he walked across here, he don’t even know that he’s on something that has no support under it. And that’s what unstable people are. You know, they think they have support, and the slightest thing that comes along, if a jet broke the sound barrier at that time when he standing there, that thing would have what? Broken off. We need to take this twisting of the scripture seriously. Now this rock is balanced, both of these rocks, but doesn’t have a strong foundation, does it? Does it? A good strong wind, an earthquake. Now I don’t call that balanced. This is what some people call being balanced. “I’m balanced in God.” You’re not on a solid foundation, man. Who’s the foundation? Jesus Christ. You’re not one little point your whole life is on the foundation. And balance is how you grow, how you build on that, and too many Christians are trying to stay balanced. They’re unstable, they’re on the edge. When the doctrine comes along, they lean that way, and then they, “Oh, better get back. I better get back.”

What does 2 Peter 2 say about false prophets, and what does he say about refusing doctors? (2 Peter 2:1, 2 Peter 2:14)

▶ Watch this part (25:26)

Short answer: He says 2 Peter 2:1 describes those who follow false prophets’ destructive ways, who bring on themselves swift destruction, and many will follow. He says sin destroys, and criticizes the faith camp’s refusal of doctors, citing Jesus’ words that the sick need a doctor, and says children die when parents refuse medicine and other weird doctrines like handling snakes.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:26 Wavering. Identifying untaught and unstable people. You ready? In second Peter chapter 2, verse one: “They follow false prophets’ destructive ways.” They’re so stupid, they’re so ignorant, they’re so on the edge, anybody comes along and says something, “Oh yeah, that’s cool,” they follow false prophets. And you’re going to see it’s unstable people. Later he list them, he tells who it is. He tells us who these people are, it’s following them. Okay, “they secretly bring in destructive” these. These people infiltrate the church, and they bring on themselves swift destruction, and “many,” how many? Many will follow their destructive ways. Now verse 14 is going to tell us who these many are, and they’re going to be unstable people, the very thing Paul is addressing. Now how many you know sin destroys, the Bible says? Ain’t that right? Okay. You sin, you if you agree with their their freedom to sin, you’re going to destroy your life both now and in the life to come.

▶ 26:44 But let me ask you this. You get sick and you just believe, the faith camp, “I don’t need a doctor.” When the scripture says Jesus himself said, “They that are sick need a” what? A Jesus said that. Jesus himself. “Oh no, man, I just believe. If I took medicine or I go to a doctor, that’d be a sign of unbelief.” And so we read every year some child dies because somebody won’t go to the doctor, cuz they’re just using faith, and the child has no choice, and a simple medicine would have cured the child. All of us know that, ain’t that right? Every one of these kids could have been cured. They died for no reason. Folks, there’s a lot of weird doctrines going on. Handling snakes to prove my faith, you know, not taking medicine to prove my faith. When you got faith in your faith, your faith is wrong. Our faith is to be in the Lord Jesus Christ, that he has the power to perform what he promised. That’s the Bible.

What does he say about a father protecting his family from criminals?

▶ Watch this part (28:07)

Short answer: He says a father’s responsibility is “to lay down my life to protect my family,” and “if that means pulling out a gun and shooting them, that’s what I got to do” when criminals break in to rob, rape or molest. He says doing nothing while a family is destroyed is not what the Bible says, and calls the opposite examples of “how ignorant the church world is.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 28:07 Criminals come and rob, kill and rape. Okay, I go somewhere and me and my family are walking to some place, and these criminals approach us, and they they’re going to rob us, they’re going to rape my wife or my daughter, and I’m supposed to stand there, like the liberal churches say, and just, or or Pentecostal, just speak in tongues, or or just, you know, turn? No. I am the father of the home. It is my responsibility to lay down my life to protect my family, and if that means pulling out a gun and shooting them, that’s what I got to do. Are you there? Somebody breaks into my house and they’re going to rob, they’re going to molest my children, they’re going to rape my daughters, and I’m going to sit there, “Well, you know, it’s against the law to hurt anybody, and you can’t have a gun.” Folks, this is what these people do. So who gets destroyed? My family, my children, my daughters, my wife. But if I can protect myself like the Bible says, then that guy can get destroyed. Are you there? Hallelujah. I’m just giving you some examples of how ignorant the church world is, how ignorant Americans are. Is that all right?

How do lifestyle and greed cause the way of truth to be blasphemed? (2 Peter 2:2-3, John 20:30-31)

▶ Watch this part (29:59)

Short answer: He says the way of truth is “blasphemed” when someone says he is a Christian while smoking marijuana or committing sexual immorality. He says others buy and sell books to “explain the Bible when the Bible plainly says” that Jesus’ works were written that we might believe, and that “by greed they will” sell you with deceptive false words.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 29:59 Do we need some knowledge? Do we need some wisdom? Do we need to know the scriptures? We need to identify twisted doctrines. Number two, they cause the Bible and Jesus to be evil spoken of. Verse two, okay, “the way of truth is blasphemed” by their lifestyle. By the way, “Oh, you Christians.” You ever heard that? “Oh, you Christian. Look at him, he says he’s a Christian, smoking marijuana, taking drugs, sexual immorality, and he says he’s a Christian.” It isn’t the Bible is messed up, it’s that person is messed up when they cause the way of truth to be evil spoken of. Number three, they donate money to be told invented, made up, false teachings. They buy books. The Christian bookstores filled with books trying to explain the Bible, when the Bible plainly says in the last two chapters of John that everything Jesus did and said were written in books the world couldn’t contain them, but these are written that you might believe, and in believing you might have life through his name. We go to the bookstore and we got zillions of books trying to explain what God already explained. They’re just wanting to make money, that’s it. And these kind of people buy their books, it isn’t working for them, and they buy their books, and it won’t work for the purchaser either.

▶ 31:22 And verse two, or verse three of chapter 2 tells us that by greed they will will sell you with deceptive false words. They want the money. They don’t give you their books free. They don’t give you their tapes for it, they want you to buy them, so they can live in a mansion. They want you to come to their conferences, and they want to charge you a fortune, so now they not only pay for the conference room, they can live a year off the income that they made off that conference. And we go like, “Matthew, John, Peter and Paul are insufficient to teach us, and the Holy Ghost is insufficient, and gathering together in a church and seeking God for truth is insufficient. We got to somehow purchase enough books.” And we don’t even realize the books that they bought in the ‘60s they don’t buy today, the books they bought in the ‘70s they don’t buy today, the books they bought in the ‘80s and ‘90s they don’t buy today. It’s fresh books come out, in the same garbage, and the next generation just goes and buys them. Are you there? And so we pay these guys to tell us lies.

How do false teachers entice people, and what is “liberty” that enslaves? (2 Peter 2:14, 2 Peter 2:19)

▶ Watch this part (32:40)

Short answer: He says false teachers tell people “they can sin and still have eternal life,” which is what “seducing” and “entice” means, to “make sin look attractive and make sin look approved and okay.” He says God does not make anyone a homosexual or a thief: “you chose to do that,” and describes visiting a church in Paraguay that stopped bringing the Bible and waited for the Holy Ghost, which he calls “their own imagination.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 32:40 Number four, they want to hear that they can sin and still have eternal life. That’s the bottom line. Okay, “they speak evil of things they do not understand, they will utterly perish in their own corruption, they’ll receive the wages of unrighteousness, having eyes full of adultery,” verse 14, “that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls.” Seducing. Now here it is. Who are these people following false prophets and buying false information and and wanting to live in sin? what How does he title them? Unstable. The very scripture he says, “unlearned and unstable people twist the scriptures to their own destruction.” So this, the word “entice” means to seduce, make sin look attractive and make sin look approved and okay. Yeah, and that’s what ministers are telling the homosexuals, “Oh, it’s okay, God made you that way.” That’s a lie. God didn’t make a pedophile a pedophile, a thief a thief, or a homosexual a homosexual. You chose to do that.

▶ 33:53 Number five, “they boast of having liberty, but they are the slave slaves of destruction.” “Oh, I’m mature now. I used to believe like you, but I’m mature now.” Oh, I was down in a church in Paraguay where they didn’t even bring the Bible to church anymore. They just let the Holy Spirit teach them. Us Spirit-filled people can be kooks. I tell you, we can be really kooks. The Bible says to study to show thyself approved. “Seek ye out of the book of the law and read.” The Bible says these things. And yes, yes, it does say the Holy Spirit will teach you as you study, as you read it, as you hear teachers teaching it. Really? No one brought, they just went in, waited for the Holy Ghost to talk, and wasn’t the Holy Ghost talking? I I’m not stupid. I was there. I got the same Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost wasn’t saying anything through these people. It was their own imagination. And my first message straightened that whole church out. Really, not my message, the first message I brought from the Bible just straighten, God came and just straightened that whole thing out.

Which desires are okay, and what happens when people who knew the way go back? (2 Peter 2:18-21)

▶ Watch this part (35:10)

Short answer: He says desires to eat, for sexual fulfillment and to relax are given by God, but “lewdness” means going overboard, and “you don’t have to be stupid” because you have a desire. He reads 2 Peter 2:20-21 that if they are again entangled and overcome “the latter end is worse for them than the beginning,” and says it is horrible for someone to think they are okay when they are not.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 35:10 second Peter 2:18: “They speak great boastful words of emptiness, they entice to the lust of the flesh, lewdness.” It’s important that lewdness is there, because there are desires of the flesh that are okay. You’ll have a desire to eat, there’s nothing wrong with that. You’ll have a desire for sexual fulfillment, there’s nothing wrong with that. God put it there, you understand? You’ll have a desire to relax and enjoy, have a recreational time. God gave us that. But he put the word “lewd,” evil, in there, so you know that when you go overboard or you break away from what’s right, that’s the wrong desire. Okay, that’s very important. And a lot of people beat themselves up, you know, looking at a woman and lust after her. “Oh my my God, oh my God, oh my God.” Look, God created you a sexual being. Relax. Just control it, bridle it. You don’t have to drink arsenic, you can drink milk. You don’t have to eat poison or whatever, or poison ivy, you can eat wholesome food. You don’t have to be stupid. Just because you got a desire to eat doesn’t mean you don’t have the faculties to control what you eat, does it?

▶ 36:32 Number six, they had escaped the way of righteousness, knew the way of right, but turned back and were entangled and overcome. And that’s what he says in verse 20, “after escaping the pollutions of the world by the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.” See, that’s why we need to go a church where they’re teaching us knowledge, they’re teaching us wisdom, they’re giving us things that work. “They are again entangled in those things they were saved from and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.” Why? Because now they think they’re going to heaven, and they’re not. And it’s horrible when somebody thinks they’re okay when they’re not okay. Verse 21: “It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness.” So they see, they knew the way of righteousness, and they left it, and “after knowing it, to turn from that holy commandment delivered to them.” Now folks, I’ve watched a lot of people turn. I’ve watched them touch God, I’ve watched God save them, I watched them commit themselves to living for God and repenting from their sin and stopping sinning, and then somebody comes along and, that and uh you understand me, and we bond, we connect, and they teach them lies, and they get in a little clique, and they fall away. I’ve seen it over and over and over.

How should we respond? Be like the Bereans (Acts 17:11, Matthew 7:16, 2 Peter 2:22)

▶ Watch this part (38:15)

Short answer: He quotes “a dog returns to his own vomit” for those who go back to sin, and says twisted doctrine destroys people and “all of us are guilty.” He says Peter wrote to genuine Christians to watch for unstable teachers, and we should search the scriptures daily like the Bereans, look for Jesus in every book, and know people by their fruit, since “denomination doesn’t save you.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 38:15 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit, and a pig after being washed to her wallowing in the mire.” So the unstable go back to sin, or they never really come out. Hallelujah. I’ve seen a lot of things, church. Twisted doctrine destroys people. The Catholics, the Baptists, the Presbyterians, all of us are guilty. And it’s our fault that we believe a church doctrine of faith above the Bible and not know what the Bible says ourself. That’s our fault. Hallelujah. How many going to raise your hand and said, “Man, I’m going to watch out for twisted doctrine”? Yes. You know, it’s easy for us to do it. we want to say we want to We want the scripture so badly to back up what we believe that we twist it. It’s important for you to know who Peter wrote this to. Okay, who did Peter write these words to? He wrote him to those who obtain the same precious faith as him and others by Jesus Christ. The same faith we’re supposed to have. The same faith Jesus had, the same faith the apostles had, equal faith, you can’t change it. We got to have the same faith. Amen. And that’s who he wrote to. He said, you people, be careful of unstable and unlearned people that twist the scriptures. And he’s writing to you, if you’re a genuine Christian that wants to serve Christ. You may have problems in your life, but you’re working on him, you’re growing. He’s writing to you and say, watch out for these unlearned and unstable people that twist the scriptures, that give you liberty to stay in the sin you’re in or go back to the sin.

▶ 41:10 This is the kind of people we got to be, the Bereans. They “receive the word with all readiness of mind and they search the scriptures.” How often? Daily. To see whether those things were true. Those things Paul and Peter and them were teaching them, they search the scriptures daily. You cannot be a Bible scholar going to church once or twice a week and just getting a message from your pastor. You got to get into the word daily. And God promised to open that word up to you, and let me tell you the key. The key is he wants to reveal Jesus. So when you start reading Genesis, who do you look for? Jesus. When you read Leviticus, that boring book, who you looking for? Jesus. Hallelujah. The truth. Matthew 7:16: “You shall know them by their” what? Fruit. Not by their mouth, by their lifestyle, by how they live. Anybody can say, “I believe in Jesus.” A disciple follows him. Amen. A disciple isn’t tripped up by these winds of doctrine, these twisted people. We must not disregard true Bible doctrines. We must not twist scriptures to our own and others’ destruction. I may will raise your right hand and say, “Yes, I agree with that. That’s truth. I mustn’t. I must be very careful.”

▶ 43:14 Yes. Doesn’t matter what denomination we’re in, denomination doesn’t save you. Jesus and the word saves you. We must not leave the way of truth and right by inventing our own beliefs, using twisted scripture. Wow. How many’s been guilty of inventing your own doctrines in days past? Man, I’m I was guilty. What my biggest mistake as a young Christian, I believed everything they said on the radio, and boy, I found out the hard way they were lying. I mean really, they were lying. That’s flat out lies. They were just flat out lying. So I learned not to follow those people on the radio. I turned off the radio and turned on the Bible tapes. I started listening to Paul and Peter and these guys.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added by hand, and obvious caption errors were corrected; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor note: he says “Matthew 22:28” for the passage about marriage in heaven (Matthew 22:30), and “Hebrews 12 or one two,” meaning Hebrews 1:1-2. “Second Peter 3:. 16” and other references are as spoken in the captions. Some caption slips are corrected where the intended word is clear (for example “cooks” to “kooks” and “meth” to “medicine”), and three spots with garbled names of well-known preachers are marked [unclear]. This message contains strong statements about homosexuality, Catholic teaching, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jews, “liberal Christians,” well-known preachers and a TV host, medicine and faith, and using a gun to protect a family; these are his own views and are not verified here, and the names stay in the transcript only.
