Some Among You Part 1: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Some in Corinth denied the resurrection. Paul answers logically: without it, Christ isn’t raised and faith is futile. All will rise—some to life, some to contempt—in order: Christ the firstfruits, then His people at His coming, then the end, when He puts down all authority.
What heresy does Paul answer?
Short answer: Some among you say there is no resurrection—like today’s many end-times views; the church had division, adultery and false teaching.
▶ 0:00 Okay, Paul is going to respond logically to another heresy. He’s already brought out a lot of heresies, actions of the people that weren’t actions of God and beliefs of the people. And he’s going to bring out another one. And uh he starts out by saying, “Some of you say that with me, some of you.” Some of you see he’s talking to the Corinthian church and he says some of you say there’s no resurrection of the dead and we have found out as I said before that some of you were saying other things here it’s the resurrection of the dead you know in America today or throughout the world we got all kinds of different beliefs about the second coming of Christ.
▶ 0:56 Isn’t that true? Pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, post-tribulation, premillennial, a millennial, no millennial, pre-rath, you name it. Everybody’s coming up with their charts and everything else. Well, the Corinthian church is the same way. And when I was a young Christian, people were always saying, “We need to be like the New Testament church. We need to be like the New Testament church.” Well, when we read Corinthians, we’re exactly like the New Testament church. Some among us always have a difference between what we believe and what God wants us to believe. Boy, when it comes to that, we are just like them. And Paul uh and Jesus and these apostles were constantly trying to straighten out some among you. Isn’t that right?
▶ 1:50 Hallelujah. Uh division. Remember the first four chapters were given over to division. Some say I’m a Paul, some of Apollo, some of Peter. You know, today we I’m a Catholic, I’m a Baptist, I’m a Presbyterian, I’m a Lutheran, I’m a nothing. We got all these camps that WE PROTECT WITH OUR LIFE. We’re just like them. Some of us baby carnal quarreling behavior Christians always quarreling carnal no spirituality in us. Sexual immorality including incest, homosexuality, adultery. Churches are ordaining homosexuals to be ministers.
▶ 2:42 Adulterers can’t even be ministers. You’ve got to qualify. Isn’t that right? That disqualifies us. Uh is Paul a real apostle? We put Joel Ostein, Schuler, uh and a lot of these other ministers today above Paul, Peter, and John. We read their books and won’t read the apostles books. We listen to them and believe everything they say and don’t read these guys and believe what they say. And they were with you. We act like Joel Ostein walked with Jesus. And when he writes a book, boy, it’s gospel. And we make him rich trying to tell us what the Bible tells us when we should be able to read the Bible.

1 Corinthians 15:12 (NKJV)
Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
— 1 Corinthians 15:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00What do we still get wrong?
Short answer: Paul reached a small part of Corinth; love is greater than faith; how you treat a believer is how you treat Christ.
▶ 3:40 And learn what it tells us. Now, that was a good statement. See, we’re just like them. And remember, Paul only reached 3% of the Corinthians city. You know, he wasn’t making great headways there. He didn’t convert the whole city. You know, we’re not making great headways in America today. In fact, Christianity is declining. Even though there’s some super churches and ministries on TV and radio, Christianity is declining in America and in Europe. Uh they had gifts. You know, they had a problem with the gifts, confused with the gifts. There’s people today who say the gifts of the spirit aren’t for today. The manifestations of the spirit aren’t for today. Same thing back there in the Corinthian church. Love, they got faith above love.
▶ 4:34 When Paul plainly said, “There abides what?” faith, hope, and love. And the greatest is. Love. And we still put faith above love and hope. We’re just like the Corinthian church. Some among us. Some among us. The CS there is church service. We got our own way of having a church service. When Paul explains clearly what is to take place in a church service when we assemble together. And we should have a goal to settle for nothing but what Paul said God would do when we had a service like he said to have it. They displeased God through idolatry, evil lust, and tempting God just like we do today. We live a life of faith, but we live a life that displeases God.
▶ 5:27 They didn’t recognize the body of Christ, that believers are the body of Christ. And how you treat a believer is how you’re treating Christ. And many were sick and weak and dead before their time because in the communion table they would take it without recognizing the body of Christ. Are you there? Do we in America do that today? Oh, we beat up each other. We won’t have anything to do with each other. We get mad at each other. And when we do that, we’re getting mad at Jesus. You see, we’re quot because we are the body of Christ. Are you there? You remember those messages now getting drunk? They actually got drunk in church during communion.
▶ 6:20 Man, there’s people today believes and have no problem with alcohol. Even though it’s destroying families, destroying productivity on the job, destroying our lives, they will steal some among us. Oh, yeah. Drinking’s all right. Drugs, marijuana, and women keep silent. See, Paul had to deal with that. And women, you you you’re too sexy. You know, you cause us men to get stirred up so you put a hood on your head and you know, you wear a dress from top to bottom and you know, put it I mean, what kind of God we serve? What kind of That’s a worthless God that can’t come in my life and give me power. Over my flesh. Could that be an event? And Paul had to deal with these.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV)
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
— 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:34What if there is no resurrection?
Short answer: Then Christ isn’t risen, preaching is vain, we are false witnesses and faith is futile—like atheists, Epicureans and Sadducees.
▶ 7:14 Why? Because some among them had these beliefs offering or eating food sacrifice to idols and all their ass. So going back to some among you and I trust this morning you’re not some of them among you that have these ridiculous issues. We need to get back to the truth and the things of God. Could that be an amen? Now he’s going to logically respond to them. This is Paul’s method. You you’ve caught on to it by now. He logically approaches it and then he scripturally approaches it. And logically he says if there’s no resurrection of dead then number one Christ is not risen. Duh. And if Christ isn’t risen then our preaching is empty. It’s without effect. It’s fruitless. And number three we are false witnesses of God.
▶ 8:06 We’re telling lies wherever we go. Number four, your faith, your persuasion is empty. It’s fruitless and futile or it is useless. Your faith is useless. And how many how many know there’s no reason to serve a useless God? If God cannot have an active part in my life, if God can’t raise me up above the rest and put me and fulfill his promises, he’s useless. Could that be an amen? And Jesus isn’t a useless God. See, we’re the temple of God. He lives in us and he’s always building us and watching out for us. And number five, you’re you are still in your sins. Number six, those who have died in Christ have perished.
▶ 9:05 Just like the atheists and the Epicureans and the Sadducees believed you die, that’s it. It’s over. Nothing more. See, he’s using logic. He says number seven, if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are all men most miserable. That’s it. I live 70 80 years. I’d die and that’s the end of it. Or maybe I lived to seven years. People died seven months 20 years and die. That’s it. No, that’s not it. There is a higher purpose. You’re going to live on for eternity. Isn’t that good logic? Yeah. It’s just common sense. Logic is common sense. Rational, reasonable thinking.

1 Corinthians 15:13-19 (NKJV)
But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
— 1 Corinthians 15:13-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:14Who will be resurrected?
Short answer: All—some to everlasting life, some to everlasting contempt; Daniel was told the words are sealed.
▶ 9:57 All right. Now, he now is going to confront some among you. He’s going to confront these people that have their own little ideas and own little beliefs. But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man, talking about Adam, came death, by the man Jesus came the resurrection of the dead. See, he is using the scriptural illustration of the resurrection. John 5:28, the hour is coming in which all, how many? All that are in the grave shall hear his voice and come forth. They that have done good until the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil until the resurrection of damnation.
▶ 10:54 It does not say they that believe to the resurrection of life, and they that don’t believe to the resurrection of damnation. It does not say that. It says your behavior is going to decide. Is that a good amen? Hallelujah. Now he’s quoting from Daniel 12:1. He says, Daniel, at the end days, there’s going to be a time of great trouble. At the end time, the last day, there’s going to be a time of great trouble. And at that time, your people will be delivered. Everyone that shall be found written in the book. Many that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake. And see in John, he didn’t use the word many.
▶ 11:46 He used what? All. Some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt. You see, the Bible plainly says we don’t know the time. I don’t know why these people try to keep guessing at it and using a little mathematical nonsense. The Bible plainly says only God knows the time. Jesus himself didn’t know the time. Ain’t that right? Especially in us spiritfilled churches, we, you know, we get a little presence of God and get a little spirit in us and we think we’re higher than the scriptures and start picking times and signs in the earth and all that stuff.
▶ 12:38 We got to we got to get above that. And remember in Daniel 12:9, Daniel said, “I don’t understand.” And God said, “The words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” Daniel, nobody’s going to understand till the seasons here, and then I’m going to what? Open up the understanding. You know, we can use the scriptures that we know, but folks, we got to get away from this chart stuff and all these things that are working up God’s people like Jesus is coming in a minute and all the rest. There is an appointed time and there is going to be a resurrection of the dead. And this is what Paul is emphasizing, you see. And then he goes on and says, “Every man in his own order.” Now, he’s going to give us the order of the resurrection.
Scripture in this part
John 5:28-29 (NKJV)
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
— John 5:28-29 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:54Daniel 12:2 (NKJV)
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
— Daniel 12:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:46Daniel 12:9 (NKJV)
And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
— Daniel 12:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:38What is the order?
Short answer: Christ the firstfruits, then those who are His at His coming, then the end—He puts down all rule and authority.
▶ 13:33 Are you ready for this? Paul, who was called to the third heaven, is going to give us an order, an arrangement, a sequence of what’s going to happen at the resurrection. Now, if these prophets would get this into them, they wouldn’t be coming up with this malarkey. Number one, Christ the first fruits. He was the first one that rose from the dead. And I know what you’re thinking. Hey, there were other people that were raised from the dead. Over in the Old Testament, the soldier that touched Elijah’s bones rose from the dead. The child was raised from the dead. That is all true. Jesus raised several people from the dead. Lazarus and a young boy, but they died again.
▶ 14:28 Jesus is the first fruits of the one that rose from the dead and didn’t die again. And Matthew says that the saints of old, the graves were open and when Jesus come out of the grave, the saints of old came out of the grave and appeared to many. So that was the first fruits. Hallelujah. And then afterward, afterward is another word in the King James for the last days in the end. Afterward, they that are Christ at his coming. So when is the next resurrection? When he comes. I mean, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that. Paul is laying it out very clearly. All right.
▶ 15:20 The rest of us going to be resurrected when Jesus returns. He is coming. Okay. Then he goes on to say then the end. The next sequence is the end. The point aimed at the goal aimed at a time when all things cease to be. There’s a new thing coming. And he explains the end. He says when or at that time or at what time he shall have delivered up the kingdom to who? God. He’s going to deliver up the kingdom to God. See, there’s some activity going on. There’s some things going on. And he says when or at that time he will have put down all rule, all authority, and all power.
▶ 16:18 You see, Jesus is going to return. There’s going to be a resurrection. He’s going to put down all rule, all authority, and all power. And he’s going to deliver up the kingdom to God. Now, that’s pretty simple to understand, don’t you think? Now, we don’t know the details of it. We just know what’s going to happen. Now, let’s get a little scripture in here. Matthew 13:39, the harvest is when? At the end of the world. See, and we just heard what was happening at the end of the world from Paul. And the reapers are the what? Angels. Therefore, the tears, the children of the wicked one are gathered and burned in the fire. So, shall it be when at the end of the world. And the end of the world is when Jesus comes that much we know from scripture.
Scripture in this part
1 Corinthians 15:20-24 (NKJV)
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.
— 1 Corinthians 15:20-24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:33Matthew 27:52-53 (NKJV)
and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
— Matthew 27:52-53 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:28What is the kingdom?
Short answer: The church—angels gather out of His kingdom all that offend; Jesus rules our lives.
▶ 17:18 We know this. The son of man shall send forth his angels and shall gather out of his what? Kingdom. That kingdom that he’s going to deliver up to who? The father. And where is that kingdom? I got it up on the screen. It’s probably too small for you to read. In Luke 17:21, Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you.” See, he come and rules within us. He sets up his kingdom in our life. So what is he presenting to the father? Those of us who have let Christ reign in our life. Amen. So these people that don’t believe in Jesus or believe that Jesus just is a good man or a prophet, they’re really missing out here.
▶ 18:16 Jesus is a king ruling over our life and that makes us his kingdom and that makes the church his kingdom. Hallelujah. And he’s going to gather out of his kingdom all things that are thinned, some among you with your weird beliefs, living in sin, living flagrantly in sin. He’s going to clean house. See them that offend and them which do what? Iniquity. Is there people in God’s church today throughout the world that are living in sin? Absolutely. Were there Jews when Jesus came that believed in God and lived in sin?
▶ 19:09 Absolutely. Jesus told them plainly, you you are making disciples two times more the child of hell than you are. Why? Because they believed in God, but they didn’t live for God. And he will cast them into the furnace of fire with the tears and the wheat. The children of the wicked one. It says there is the tears in the wheat. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the son where in the kingdom of their father. See, did Jesus say he’s coming back for a glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing? Does Jesus have the power to perform that promise? Absolutely. Praise God. He who has the ear to hear, let him hear. That’s our problem. We need to dig out our ear and say, “Lord, give me a hearing ear.” That means responding, not just hearing a message, but applying it.
▶ 20:14 Hearing it and putting it into action. And so Paul now is really getting his point across from scripture. Revelation 9:4. Hurt and torment only those men which have not the seal of God in their forehead. People are always talking about the 666 can’t buy and sell. Well, there’s another group of people that have a mark. His people. His people. And look what it said. Don’t you hurt those people. Don’t you hurt those people that have accepted Christ and following his way. Don’t you bother hurt them AT ALL. LIVE ALONE. SO WHERE ARE THEY still at. On earth?
