Corinth was immoral, like America today. When a man took his father’s wife, Paul judged it and delivered him to Satan for his flesh’s destruction so his spirit could be saved. The church removes the unrepentant, admonishes them as brothers, and handles personal offenses by Matthew 18.

What was Corinth like?

▶ Watch this part (0:01)

Short answer: A bad city—homosexuality, temple and street prostitution, drunkenness; America shows the same steps down to debauchery, including incest he deals with often.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 0:01 We remember that history tells us that Corinthian, the Corinthian city was a pretty bad city. Homosexuality, prostitutions, both male and female, temple pro uh prostitutes, street prostitutes, uh drunkards were abundant running around the town with their wine uh skins. Just just just a lot of debauchery going on. The athletic games were there every couple of years and so athletes were there and business people were there, rich, poor, slaves and slave owners. And you know, we think America, in fact, if you’re as old as I am, you’ve seen America when it was in good shape.

▶ 0:58 I mean, people had even bad people had a moral standard. They did their bad stuff in the darkness, in the secret places, not out in the open. And we saw the the steps down to debauchery from the 50s and the 60s and with the sexual revolution. And I have on the screen here, you know, homosexual men just openly showing affection one to another. Ellen on TV and in the movies, the big entertainer marrying her uh girlfriend. And then Bby, a professional actress that was a man that finally had a sex change, had his penis and testicles cut off and a cavity cut in so he could become a woman.

▶ 1:56 And that still doesn’t make you a woman. And then you got up in the upper right hand corner a 50 year old man caught in the weeds molesting a young boy. Uh this stuff is just going on in America and throughout the world. So it’s nothing new neither today nor at the Corinthian church. Down in the lower leftand corner. The guy there is Daniel Reinhardt. He was sentenced to 20 years for endangering the welfare of a child from statutory rape or legal rape on two counts of incest with his daughter from age five and she had four babies by her father.

▶ 2:51 And this is going on in America. And incest is much more prominent in America than everybody is letting on because I have to deal with it quite often. And if I have to deal with it quite often, you know, there’s some hanky panky going on out there. Uh, and then you got, of course, our superstars. There’s Jennifer Lopez. When she was married to Chris Jud, she had an affair with Ben Affleck. And uh then you got Britney Spears and we know all about her angelita Jolie, you know, she started with men, switched to women, and switched back to men. And they say you can’t change. So they call her a bisexual. Well, that answers that.

▶ 3:42 No, it doesn’t. Then you got Jesse James there with Sandra Bullock who went out on her and of course, the famous Tiger Woods. You know, he just couldn’t be satisfied with that good-looking woman there. He had to have 40 or 50 of them or more. And so, and of course, the wine glass and the hypodermic needle is party time. It’s all about party. It’s all about music. It’s all about sex and unre an unrestrained lifestyle. So we are going to go into the 1 Corinthians chapter 5 and for the next three verses Paul is going to be talking about sex. The first four verses he talked about division now he’s talking about sex.

▶ 4:35 See the same problems we have today is the same problems there in Corinth. Here you will see on the screen a female prostitute in the temple. See topless is nothing new. It’s been around ever since in every generation. I mean boy wouldn’t that be nice walking into a temple and girls are running around topless. Man, that that’s the church for me. And then you got this man paying a young boy for sex. So you see the money bag there. This is artifacts from the Corinthian city. And over here you got a man playing a woman for sex. And so we know and they have artifacts showing the debauchery of alcoholism and all the rest. So we know this stuff went on.

What was the sin in the Corinthian church?

▶ Watch this part (5:26)

Short answer: A man had his father’s wife—a hell sin; the elders failed to deal with it.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 5:26 It’s just not history talking. 1 Corinthians 5:1. And we’re titling this sex in the Corinthian church. And he’s going to be talking about a hell sin. There are sins that are not hell sins and there are sins that are hell sins. Okay, he says fornication. And the word fornication here is unlawful sex, immoral sex. Sex that God forbids to be done, whether it’s incest, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, whatever, sex with animals. And uh it’s in the Corinth church. And this guy was having sex with his father’s wife. And Paul plainly says the Gentiles, the unbelievers in Corinth, in the Corinth church aren’t doing that.

▶ 6:23 He says, “This is really bad. Those unbelievers around you don’t do this. And you’re having it in the church that a man would have sex with his father’s wife. So Paul goes on to say, “And instead of removing the guy, you brag about it, you’re proud of it.” Hey man, look at that. He believes in Jesus and going to heaven. And look at that. And that lucky guy, he gets to have sex with his own father’s wife. See? And so they’re boasting. They’re proud. They’re not sad sad and removing. Now, what you got to understand is this. And you young adults better listen to this. Paul ordained elders in every church.

▶ 7:17 The people would select them. Then Paul and his team would confirm them. And they would leave the churches wherever he went in the hands of elders. So whose fault is it here that this hanky pank is going on? The elders and I have preached the gospel all over the world. And I’ll tell you this elder thing is killing a lot of churches because they just pick people that they like, pick people that’s popular. They’re not connected to the spirit. They can’t think with the spirit. They think with their emotions. They think what’s best for them. They think if they’re a businessman that everything should be done in a business way. And so they don’t think with their spirit. And it really hurts the church because when you start thinking from your emotions and your personal opinions, you start gravitating everything to how you want.

▶ 8:18 But a real minister called of God is scared to death to do that because he’s accountable. And he’ll want to tune into the spirit and see what the spirit wants to do because he’s got to be accountable to God. It was God that chose him. People didn’t vote him in. God chose him. Gave him a gift or her a gift. And it works. Are you out there? You young adults are getting this? And one of the best ways of ruining a good move of God is just turn things over to elders that don’t follow the authority and the message of the one that gave them the responsibility.

▶ 9:11 See, Paul was directly responsible to God. These elders were directly responsible to Paul and they didn’t follow Paul. Are you out there? And this is what you guys got to work through. I’m just letting it sink in. Because if you’re going to develop and govern a church, you got to do it the Bible way. Feelings cannot come into it. Personal preferences and personal opinions can have nothing to do with it. And God’s always on top whether you’re on the bottom or not. You might be depressed that day. Well, leave us alone. We are serving a God that’s never depressed. Hallelujah.

▶ 10:07 So, you know, just just do your depressing thing on your own. Don’t bug us with your feelings and everything that weighs you down. Do you got that, young adults? See, a real leader does not make decisions by emotions, personal opinions, or profit for himself. He makes decisions by the spirit leading him by the word or she just threw that in free. Let’s get back to sex. See, someone’s responsible here. Paul’s gone and he left people in charge and they’re doing a lousy Job. Verses 3 through13, Paul judged. My Lord, Paul judged.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 5:1-2 (NKJV)

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife! And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Did Paul judge?

▶ Watch this part (10:58)

Short answer: Yes—“I’m making a judgment”; deliver him to Satan for the destruction of the flesh so the spirit may be saved.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 10:58 He says, “I’m making a judgment. I’m not there, but I’m judging this thing.” And what do we hear today? Judge not lest you be not judged. Don’t judge me. Don’t judge people. Paul says, “Hey, I’m making a judgment. I want a strong church. I want a church that’s developing toward God. I want a church that’s governed and has restraints. And I’m going to make judgments to keep that church moving forward.” Could I hear an amen on that? Yes. Yes. And people when they fall under judgment, they want to leave. They want to find some place that doesn’t threaten them. But how you going to develop? How you going to grow stronger in God? So he makes a judgment. And this is his judgment. Check this out. Yield that man to Satan.

▶ 11:49 Good Lord. Give him over to Satan. Well, we know Satan is a thief, a robber. He comes to ruin, to kill, to steal. He wants to steal any good thing you got. He wants to destroy you. And watch this. And most Christians do not understand this. So, I’m going to take a little time with this. They don’t get this stuff. Yield him to Satan. Why? Then he explains, “For the ruin of the flesh.” Now remember when we studied the flesh was that lust to sin. Whether it’s sexual immorality or greed or you know stealing or whatever. It’s that part of us that wants to do things that we shouldn’t do. And so he’s saying what?

▶ 12:42 Turn him over to Satan. Give him to Satan for the destruction of that unbridled desire. Now all of a sudden that looks pretty good. Wouldn’t you say? See, he’s not just okay, he’s out. No, he’s not out. Paul is making a decision to do what’s best for the man and what’s best for the church. This is powerful. He says, “And to save the spirit in the day of Jesus Christ on judgment day, he turns him over to Satan to destroy that fleshly unrestraint living so that his spirit can be saved on judgment day.” Now, how many you know that sounds good? And see, we know what Satan can do.

▶ 13:34 He did it to Job. Took his health, took his wealth, took his family, took all of those around him. See, Satan can do things when God allows him to. And then he says, “Keep no company with him. Don’t mix with him.” And this word company is only mentioned three times in the New Testament. Only three times. So, it’s not a big thing. Purge out the old leaven, he begins to explain, of malice and wickedness. Be a new leaven lump. Levan is yeast that causes bread to arise. You put a little in there and it infects the whole lump of dough. And what he’s saying is sin in the church will begin to affect the body, the body, the many membered body of Christ.

▶ 14:32 So it’s got to be dealt with. Are we dealing with it in America? No. Most mega churches won’t even touch things that people disagree with and therefore they don’t change. And we’re not saving their spirit in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ because we won’t preach that sin is sin and the wages of sin is death. He said, “Get rid of that old living of malice and wickedness and get a new unleavened lump, no sin in it, of sincerity and truth. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.” See, he’s talking about Jesus Christ being the one that died on the cross for the sins of the world and has power to cleanse you and and and get that leaven of sin out of you.

What sins remove people from church?

▶ Watch this part (15:28)

Short answer: Fornication, covetousness, idolatry, reviling, drunkenness, extortion—don’t even eat with such.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 15:28 And then he talks about fornication again. He’s going to list some things that you get you you take people out of the church over. Okay, here’s the word fornication again, but it’s a different word. It’s a male prostitute. See, they had male prostitutes in the temples. They had male prostitutes on the streets of Corinth. And he changes the word to a male prostitute. And you know, a prostitute will do any kind of sex for money. You pay me whatever you want. Now, then he says greed. Then he says, “Extortion, where you use your authority or your bulliness to get people to do what you want and get things out of people. A [ __ ] where you verbally abuse people.” And the verbal stuff is really strong in the church today in America.

▶ 16:27 Idolatry is worshiping other gods, including demons, or drunk believers. Now, we got a real problem with that in America because a large percentage of your church is gaining momentum to accept drinking everywhere. In fact, Richard Roberts, the son of Or Roberts, just got caught drunk and driving. And he’s on TV preaching, you know, God can heal and all the rest. And he’s going down the freeway at 95 miles an hour, drunk, swerving all over the place. The police and pulls him over and there’s the preacher. There’s something wrong, folks. There’s something wrong when TBN has a alcohol budget every year of $200 and some thousand dollar. Say, how do you know that?

▶ 17:24 Cuz I do a lot of reading. Unlike you, I’m not watching Star Wars. I do a lot of reading because I’m interested in the church. I’m interested in what goes on. And he says with these people, don’t eat. And he said, and you know, he’s not talking about unbelievers. See, he’s talking about believers that do this. Don’t eat with them in your home. And you got to get them out of the church so Satan can work them over and they can get back in. And this guy did get back in in 2 Corinthians. It did work. If you know your Bible, he came back. And the church then had a problem with him coming back. And Paul had to correct the church and say, “Let the guy back in.

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 5:11 (NKJV)

But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

Who judges unbelievers?

▶ Watch this part (18:17)

Short answer: God—he says Fox News hosts are wrong that God isn’t involved in judging; remove the sinner for the church’s good.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 18:17 That’s enough. Enough punishment’s enough.” So it did work. God judges unbelievers. Say that. God judges unbelievers. Can you get that through your thick head? You don’t have to go around correcting everybody out outside these doors. And you know, you shouldn’t be correcting everybody inside. You should let leadership and the right procedures do that. But God judges unbelievers. And folks, that’s the message. See, he will bring bad things in their life to get them awake. He can bring financial things. He can bring physical things, mental things, emotional things to get their attention to get come back to him. He judges them.

▶ 19:12 Do we get that? And and you know O’Reilly and and Hannity are wrong on Fox News when they say God is not involved in the affairs of men and judging people and like 9/11 couldn’t be a judgment of God. It could have been if we learn a lesson, it’s definitely God. And if Christians are spared on a large ratio, it’s definitely God. That’s two signals you can know whether it’s God or not. Are you there? But the church judges believers. It’s our responsibility to judge. And listen to me. Remember, he judged for the good of the person. He was trying to save his spirit in the end and get him to bridle his fleshly desires.

▶ 20:09 He took an action for the good of the man. Are you there? And then he took an action for the good of the church. You remove the guy so that people don’t think that this is okay, that sin is going to be dealt with. How many think that’s that that’s a pretty good approach. I’m sure you understood all this when you read your Bible through, but it’s my Job to remind you. And so he says a little levan again affects the whole lot. See the reason he’s doing it is because if you don’t correct it it’s going to spread through. America is not correcting the sexual revolution. And what has happened? It has spread through and now sex is abundant even in young people. See, and they’re teaching in public schools to our young people that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle.

▶ 21:10 And there are many famous good homosexuals. They’re teaching that to our children. And one thing God will not tolerate is messing with the innocent. And now California is really messing with innocent children. And you can mark my word. God will bring things. And when they come, just remember that. And we don’t know how he when he does it and how he does it. And he’s slow in doing things. He moves a lot slower than I would. I’d have I’d have I’d have corrected this mess at least 20 years ago. But he’s God and he does what he wants in heaven and on earth. Put away from among you that wicked person. Okay, now we’re going to look at this a little closer.

▶ 22:04 Okay, we’re going to take a closer look at this so you understand it. Are you interested in this? Yeah, this is very important. See, Paul did not allow any just anything to go on in the church. He confronted the church. 1 Timothy 1:18, “Fight the good fight or the good warfare. Hold on to faith and a good conscience.” Conscience is that recognition of right and wrong, to embrace the right and shun the wrong. That’s what a good conscience is. And so when you reject a good conscience to say that’s wrong and I’m going to do right, that’s a hell sense. And we know the Gentiles, the unbelievers never heard the gospel is going to be judged with their conscience. Romans chapter 1. Are you out there?

▶ 22:56 Yeah. People say, “Well, how’s God going to judge?” People never heard the message and know that it’s in Romans 1. Plain as day. Okay. Everybody has a conscience. And if they follow that conscience, they’ll still make it in without ever hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. And if they don’t, but I would rather hear the gospel and have that power working within me, compelling me to live for God. How about you? I I would much rather go that route. Some Himenius and Alexander, they said the resurrection is passed, have rejected these. Rejected what? Faith and a good conscience. That they’re not living a life where they have a good conscience and they’ve made their faith shipwrecked and others faith shipwrecked because they’re teaching a doctrine that the resurrection’s already passed.

▶ 24:02 So Jesus isn’t coming again. You know, there’s no eternal life. There’s no eternal heaven. It’s already done. Whatever God’s done doing, he’s already done it. And so he delivered this guy to Satan. Here it is again. I delivered him to Satan. See, now why did he deliver the first guy to Satan? To help the guy in the end. And so this guy, why did he deliver him to Satan? So he would learn not to blaspheme, speak evil of the word of God and the things of God. Are you there? See, this is a decision for helping the guy. See, we think we’re helping the guys, people that like this, when we, oh, we get all this pity for them and emotional mercy for them and we spend time with them and and all this stuff, we think that’s helping them.

▶ 24:54 But Paul says, “Man, there’s a shortcut. Turn him over to Satan. Satan will work that guy over. Satan won’t be any merciful to him.” And then he can learn and his soul can be saved on judgment day. Are you there? Hallelujah. That’s a hell sin. When you are living a life that’s following your consciousness of wrong, that’s a hell sin. Now, don’t get all uptight here. If if we’re pursuing God and we admit we made mistakes, we get back up, we repent, it’s a constant salvation repentant thing, isn’t it?

How do we treat the disciplined?

▶ Watch this part (25:45)

Short answer: Not as an enemy but admonish as a brother; withdraw from the disorderly who won’t work.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 25:45 But when we say, “I don’t see nothing wrong with it,” that’s when you got the problem. See, as long as you’re working on a sin, there’s no problem. As long as you agree it’s wrong. But when you say, “I don’t see nothing wrong with it,” that’s the problem. Now in 2 Thessalonians 3:6, withdraw yourself from every brother that walks disorderly, if any obey not our word, have no company. There’s that word company. Don’t mix with him. That he may be what? Ashamed. Why don’t I do intimate things with him? So that he gets embarrassed. You know, it’s not like it’s like not wanting to be around somebody with body odor. Man, take a shower now. See, you embarrass them. But not in the American church.

▶ 26:38 Oh. Oh, yeah, man. I can I can win them. I understand them now. Yet count him not as a what? Say the word. Oh, this these people aren’t enemies. Do we have that in our head? Don’t treat these people like an enemy, but admonishing him as what? A brother. Now, how you going to admonish if you’re never in any kind of contact with him? Mental telepathy. So, see, there has to be the right kind of association where they are a mission field and you are encouraging them to change. Now, what was the disorder here? The disorder was no work, no eat.

▶ 27:33 These guys aren’t working. See, they’re sponging off people in the church. They’re sponging off the church. He says, “That’s a disordered walk. That’s not the kind of walk that God gave us to walk in. We’re not to be handing money to people and giving them freebies.” When I first went to the Vine, these hippies were in there sleeping in the building and the women were bringing them food, washing their clothes and aring them. It took me about two weeks to get a solid message into them. And then I told those women, “Don’t you dare come in here and wash these guys’ clothes. These guys are big enough to wash their own clothes and iron their own clothes, and you’re doing them an injustice.

▶ 28:25 But see, the women were getting high. I’m doing something for the poor hippies. They chose to be a hippie. They need to reap the reward of that stupidity. They need to buck up, get a Job, learn a Job skill, and get with the program, not someone coming in and Yeah. Doing everything for them. I said, “Stop bringing them food. Have them weed your your house, mow your lawn, whatever, and then give them a meal or give them something to eat or or give them some money to go down to McDonald’s and buy a 15 cent burger.” Yeah. None of these $7 burgers for hippies. Cheap stuff. Why? They need to learn.

▶ 29:16 Am I right? Does the Bible plainly say if a man doesn’t work, neither should he eat. Yeah. No, but don’t give me your sub stories. You made bad decisions. You’re reaping the reward. I’m not bailing you out. I’m not loaning I’m not borrowing money to get you out. That’s my kids know that. You make bad decisions, you’re on your own. That’s how you learn. That’s how I learn. Isn’t Paul good? Yeah, he’s good. And I could give you detail after I’ve seen people loan people money in the church. Bye-bye money. Oh, I’ll pay you back next month or I’ll pay you back next week.

▶ 30:09 Bye-bye. And when I get wind of it and I approach them and I confront them, then they’re out of the church because they’re just wanting what they can get. And I’m not going to allow it. Is this a good message Paul’s preaching? Yes. And see, this is part of the reason the church in America is in the condition it’s in. We’re not listening to Paul. We’re listening to these famous authors who have went through Bible schools and got psychology mixed in with truth. And threw most of the truth out and just preaching psychology. And we make welfare dependent Christians just like parents make welfare dependent sons and daughters if they don’t raise them right. Hallelujah.

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 (NKJV)

But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

How do we handle personal offenses?

▶ Watch this part (31:04)

Short answer: Matthew 18:15—go to your brother; not liking the worship leader isn’t biblical grounds; Jesus ate with sinners but didn’t embrace their sin.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 31:04 We know this famous scripture Matthew 18:15. You know, if a brother sins against you, sins against who? You. See, this is not a church issue. He’s done something that you know has hurt you. Okay. So, what’s the first step? And I never see this work. Uh you old-timers, have you ever seen this work on a high percentage scale? I’ve never seen it work on that. Very seldom does it work because most people follow this for their own selfish motive to get what they want. And when you do that, you’re not interested in truth. And most of it has nothing to do with sin. It’s just their feelings. You know, they don’t like who’s in charge. Well, it doesn’t matter if you like who’s in charge.

▶ 32:00 If they’re doing their Job, they’re doing I don’t like who’s leading worship. They offend me. Well, where’s that in the Bible? You don’t like them, you’re offended. And this is as a pastor, this is what I hear. Well, I’m coming. I went to the person. I sent him back to the person. It doesn’t work because their whole motive is wrong. But anyway, if he hears you, then you’ve gained your brother. If not, take one or two witnesses, you know, get your little click together. And that’s what they do. They go get a little click together. Now, I saw this guy coming out of the bar like me and Mr. Barnes when we were witnessing. We went in the bars to witness and of course when we come out we looked like we were in there drinking but we were in there witnessing getting them to come down to a church service downtown at Santa Ana to preach to them. And they would come.

▶ 32:54 You say you’re gutsy. Hey, you know, you got to do what you got to do to get them. And so they but but these guys go and get, you know, you know, he he I saw him going over. So now they got two people believing and these other two people did not see it directly. They’re just believing what the first person said. And this is why it doesn’t work. See, we get our little clicks together. We get our little supporters. And then we go to the guy and he still doesn’t believe it. So then we go to the pastor. We got to tell the church. We got to get the church involved. And uh he says, “If he refuses, tell the church. If he refuses the church, let him be to you as a heathen and a tax collector.” Now, let me ask you this. Did you hear that? As a heathen, an unbeliever, and a tax collector, which was sinners back there that the Jews hated because they took more money than they should have for taxes.

▶ 33:55 Did Jesus eat with the heathen and the tax collectors? Yes. Did he get drunk with them? No. See, did he embrace their sin at all? No. He just went there to preach to them and to be an example to them and a light to them. That’s all. And in 1 Corinthians 14, does it say that the unbeliever can come into the assembly? Yeah. Can the tax collector come into the assembly? Yes. See, this is not an excommunication problem here. It’s trying to deal with your weak spirit that you get offended so easy. I’ve seen people come in this church, get offended how we worship. Well, if you really got your act together, why would you have been offended because we raise our hands and dance?

▶ 34:49 I mean, who’s got the problem here? Are you there? Or take vice versa. They go into a Baptist church where they just sing and, you know, they don’t do much demonstration and all that and they get offended because, well, they’re just not doing it in spirit and truth. Who’s really got the problem there? The person that got offended. It’s working for those people fine. Are you with me? Hallelujah. And that’s why I have seen this not work hardly at all. All they do is get more offended trying to solve this.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 18:15-17 (NKJV)

“Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
