A falling away precedes Christ’s return, but He remains in heaven until the restoration of all things. Truths like repentance, baptism and the Holy Ghost were restored through movements such as Azusa Street and the Jesus people. Change your thinking and invite times of refreshing—He is coming for a glorious church.

What comes before Christ returns?

Short answer: A falling away—and history’s compromises; repent and confess, no penance needed.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 0:00 Also, you remember we taught you that before Christ comes, there’s going to be a falling away. You remember that? And we showed you that that falling away took place between 500 AD and 1500 AD. The dark ages, the Catholic Church, and they have to take responsibility for this. I don’t I don’t water it down at all. They’re the ones that propagated all this nonsense. People could sin and still go to heaven. You know, they could buy money or they could do some kind of pendants or whatever. Uh the the the the Catholic Church had got into horrible corruption. You know, you could go fight the holy war down in Jerusalem and you could go to heaven. That’s nothing. That’s a Muslim teaching. Are you there? And for those of you who don’t understand, those Europeans did not go down there in what we call a holy war.

▶ 0:56 They were trying to meet the Muslims on their turf so they wouldn’t come and invade Europe. Th those those people that that twist history to make you think that these Christians were bad people because of the crusade. They they’re not reading it. You read it. Those nobles and stuff in Europe took it because the Muslims were trying to take over the world. So they went down there. Now the Catholic Church helped because they said, “Well, if you go down there and fight, you know, you’ll go to heaven.” Well, that’s stupid. That’s not Bible. So, what did Martin Luther do in 1517 or 1519? I forget the date. Somewhere right there. He said, “No way. This is nonsense.” He says, “The just shall live by faith. You repent from your sins. You live by faith in Christ.

▶ 1:50 You turn from those sins. You confess them, and you’ll be saved. You don’t have to do penance. You don’t have to do nothing. It’s all in the power of the blood of Christ. And so the all these remember Hebrews 6, the foundational laws. You’re looking at me like you don’t. Well, anyway, Hebrews 6 gives us the foundational laws. Repentance toward God. See, we actually repent from our sins and we turn towards God’s righteousness. We turn and that’s what Luther was saying. Said we lost that. So that truth was restored. Are you with me? In Acts, chapter 3, 21. Let me get this through to you. Restoration. There was a falling away and there’s a restoration.

Where is Jesus until then?

▶ Watch this part (2:44)

Short answer: Retained in heaven until the restoration of all things—coming for a glorious, restored church, not a rapture.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 2:44 Acts 3:21. Jesus will be retained in the heavens. He’s going to stay in the heavens. He’s not coming back until what? The restoration of how many things? All things. What’s keeping Christ in heaven right now? There’s not a full restoration yet. Now, any idiot can read that verse and I mean, it’s plain. There’s Jesus is staying in heaven until the restoration of all things spoken by all the prophets since the world began. And that’s why he can’t come any minute. Things have not been restored. And I just read Greg Lori come out with a new book and and he said the only thing lacking oh the next event in God’s calendar is the rapture.

▶ 3:38 I go, man, you guys are missing this thing. He’s a much bigger God than that. We got billions of people that haven’t heard of Christ. The billions that are still in sin and you’re just wanting a rapture. We got a church that’s in disarray. We’re divided. We We got nonsense being preached in the church. It’s not a glorious church. And you’re saying the next event is the rapture when Jesus cannot come until the restoration of all things spoken by the prophets. Amen. Now, you should be able to feel that. That’s burning truth. And instead of looking for God to do a a a miraculous last day visitation on earth, they’re just looking for a rapture to get us out in our condition.

▶ 4:31 He’s coming back for a glorious church, a restored church. Folks, that’s what the scriptures say. Are you with me? But, you know, numbheaded Christians go to numb-headed churches where numb-headed pastors preach a numb-headed word and we’re all numbheads. And we feel good about oursel. We do. You know music has a spirit. Do you know that it always isn’t the spirit of God? And just because you feel some presence in a church doesn’t mean you’re feeling his presence at all.

▶ 5:25 Good music can bring a presence. Yes. So, you know, we bring in the best musicians and all that and we have what we call a real great worship service when it’s nothing but a music service and we feel good because of the music and we haven’t touched God at all. And how do you know you haven’t touched God? Because there’s no embarrassment. There is no deliverance. He didn’t pull up to deliver you like my dad did and set you free from that predicament you’re in. He didn’t come in and embarrass you and say, “Man, you’re wrong. You got to change this thing and I got to discipline you for it.” I’m telling you, church, this is the message that is coming. There’s another move of God coming.

▶ 6:18 God’s not done with things. He ain’t rapturing anybody. There is a visitation of God coming on this earth. And he’s going to fulfill these prophecies or else he’s a worthless God. Why do we serve a God that all he can do is snatch us out of this earth? Can’t empower us to be a voice in it. That’s a worthless God. But you don’t read in the Bible we got a worthless God. WE GOT A POWERFUL GOD THAT EMPOWERS HIS people and he fulfills what he says he will do. True. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. So anyway, part of the restoration was repentance from dead works, faith toward God. Martin Luther brought it, the Lutheran. Then the Presbyterians rose up.

What truths were restored?

▶ Watch this part (7:09)

Short answer: Repentance, baptism, Holy Ghost—a former Calvinist changed through prayer; tongues and prophecy at Azusa Street.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 7:09 We always got these these offspring people that’s not in the restoration. They embrace Calvinism. Who says you’re predestined to go to heaven or you’re predestined to go to hell. And no matter how you live, if you’re predestined, you’re going to go to heaven anyway. That is biblical nonsense. You don’t find Calvin in the Bible. So throw Calvin out. Let’s get the Apostle Paul back. Let’s get Peter back. Can I hear an amen? Then the Baptists come along in6008. I believe the they stood up and said, “Hey, not only do we need to repent, not only do we need faith toward God, but we need it and then we need to get baptized.” None of this baby baptism is working. The scriptures don’t show baby baptism.

▶ 8:00 When we come to the knowledge of our sin and we repent and we turn toward God, then we get baptized and we get submerged. None of this sprinkling stuff. Amen. So now you have the restoration of repentance, faith, and water baptism. Are you there? Then the Methodists come along with sanctification. In other words, there’s a focus on Bible morality. We got to live right. We can’t just be saved and go to heaven. We got to live right. We got to be a light to the world. Can you say amen to that? Amen. In the Then late 1800s, AB Simpson, a Presbyterian, a uh used to be a Presbyterian.

▶ 8:52 God got a hold of used to be a Calvinist. A woman invited him to her home to pray for her son that was in a coma and dying. The the boy was dying, you know, and she just invited AB Simpson in, the pastor of the Presbyterian church to come in and he wasn’t a pastor of Presbyterian at that time, his own church. And so he went in and he laid hands on the boy and and and prayed, you know, and he said, “I turned to leave and the boy got come up out of the coma.” I mean, you can read it. It’s it’s right in church history. And the boy was healed just like that, instantaneously. And he said, “I left.” And he said, “This thing was on my mind. That boy was healed.” He was shocked. Isn’t that a a good attitude?

▶ 9:43 You’re kind of shocked. You’re not naming it and claiming it. Oh, wow. This worked. So, anyway, some other people had had testimonies of divine healing. So he started searching the scriptures and he found in the scriptures that divine healing, supernatural healing is part of the covenant God made with the in the new covenant. So he started praying for the sick and he had a heart disorder himself that later got healed. See he had trouble all of his adult life with the heart and God healed him. And so here we have the restoration of laying on of hands for healing. Remember laying on of hands. Hallelujah. Then we come up to 1900 in Texas in uh Kansas.

▶ 10:36 Some people were seeking for the baptism of the Holy Ghost and somebody spoke in tongues. One person did as far as I can remember. And then the news got back. Anyway, LA heard about it. They sent somebody back there to bring somebody to LA to talk about this. So, this black pastor, William Seymour, came to LA who hadn’t even got the baptism of the Holy Ghost, but he was teaching it because he was in that group. And uh to make a long story short, God visited what we call the Azusa Street Revival in 1906. Okay? And they spoke in tongues. And it was a black pastor with women leaders in the church and white leaders in the church. I tell you for one year there was unity there.

▶ 11:27 That mean on the on the day of Pentecost one of the signs of the baptism of the Holy Ghost was unity. They were in one accord before the Holy Ghost came and they were in one accord after the Holy Ghost came and they praised God with one accord in the temple daily. Unity they had it are you there and a lot of people are so upset about this tongue talking I don’t know why it’s Bible it’s there you know they did speak in tongues you know let let me just give you a brief history of Acts on the day of Pentecost they spoke in tongues and they were in unity in Acts 4 uh the place was shaken and they spoke the word of God with boldness. It says they were filled with the Holy Ghost and they spoke the word of God with boldness. No tongues.

▶ 12:21 Now, nobody has a problem with that one, but they sure have a problem with this tongue thing. Then Philip goes down to Samaria and preaches the gospel. The city was filled with joy. Miracles are going on but no Holy Ghost till the apostles came down and laid their hands on him. Here it is the laying on of hands again for the impartation of the Holy Ghost. Impartation, not healing but impartation. Okay. Then you got Cornelius. The Holy Ghost fell on him and they spoke in tongues. You got the church of Ephesus. Paul went there. There were about uh 15 or 20 people. Not many I can’t just a handful of people. Paul prayed for them laying on of hands.

▶ 13:13 They spoke in tongues and prophesied. But let me tell you what, you know, we’re all hung up on this prophecy and tongue thing. When Jesus said, “Go and tear in Jerusalem and you shall be endued with tongues from on high.” Is that what he said? No. What did he say? What? Power. Yeah. Jesus after he ascended told the apostles, “You will be. Filled with into filled with. Power.” Power. It’s a baptism of it’s a baptism of yes. And some of the expressions of that power is prophecy and tongues. And there should be interpretation if we’re in the church service.

What happened after Azusa?

▶ Watch this part (14:09)

Short answer: Division over divorce and race; Seymour’s marriage; the charismatic movement and Jesus people in the 60s.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 14:09 Are you there? But but and and this is what happened on Azusa Street. That revival really only lasted about a year. And do you know why it only lasted a year? I mean, people were getting healed. People were getting filled with the Holy Ghost. The church never had any more than 50 to 60 members. But every day there was 1,00 to,500 people there coming and going. Pre preachers from all over the world were coming to find out what was happening there. And then they took it back. See, they just took it back wherever they were were. But the leaders in the church divided. They went and started their own church a few blocks away. Another one went and started another own church a few blocks away. Does that sound like a glorious church? You know what? They divided over divorce. You can’t divorce.

▶ 15:03 If you get divorced, you got to stay single. And literally women in the church who got saved and they got married as a teenager. The guy ran off and left them. They got remarried, had two kids, especially one testimony. And she had to divorce that man with two kids so she could fulfill their doctrine. That’s insane. And this is supposed to be a Holy Ghost. A p this a baptism of power. And then you got the Jesus only coming in. Durham, no plurality, Jesus only. And then I and I and I just just nonsense. And what really was a move of God dissipated by 1908.

▶ 15:59 He married a black lady. Seymour did. He was a black pastor one eye. And uh that wife of his manipulated him into getting rid of all the white leaders and just having black leaders. So next thing you know, it’s just back to a black church and nobody’s coming. You see, black people can be prejudiced, too. And folks, we’re supposed to be filled with power. It’s still the baptism of power. Do we need power? Yes. What is the ministry of the Holy Ghost, by the way? Do you even know the ministry of the Holy Ghost? Yes. He’ll convicts us of sin. He convicts us of righteousness. Convict means convinces. And the judgment to come.

▶ 16:51 Listen, when I was a sinner sitting out there, that’s what got me saved, man. He convinced me that there’s a right way. He convinced me I was doing it the wrong way. And he convinced me I was going to go to hell, and I didn’t want to go to hell. You see, and he leads us into all truth. How much truth? See, that’s the ministry. When you say you’re filled with the Holy Ghost and power and you don’t read your Bible and and and you’re not concerned about changing your life, I have to challenge your baptism of the Holy Ghost. I don’t care if you’re shakamula or not. See, there’s a difference between the baptism of tongues, baptism of prophecy, and the baptism of power. Tongues and prophecy comes because of the baptism of power. Yes. Not vice versa. Did that help?

▶ 17:45 Cuz see, we want like this morning, we want God to come. We want him to touch us, but we want it to be real. And we want to respond in a manner that’s decent, mannerly, and in order like the Bible says, so that people can learn and be edified. Hallelujah. Okay, that leads us to 1900, 1906. Welsh revival came at that time too. 1900, 1906, 1948, late 40s, God moved again, brought in the baptism into the body of Christ. Billy Graham and some of these evangelists came out of that visitation of God. The revival churches came out of that visitation of God. Praise and worship, they saw the Revelation of it.

▶ 18:40 And uh laying on of hands for blessing. Uh, I left out the second coming. The Adventists in the early 1800s really focused in on the second coming. They focused in on it so much they said he was coming in 1844. Now remember the second coming is the resurrection and eternal judgment. Right of the basic foundations. So the big disappointment. Miller and all his followers, including all kinds of churches, were there waiting for the rapture to take place, and it didn’t happen. They’d sold their property. They quit their jobs. They were ready to go, and it never happened. I told you in every move of God, there’s this distraction. See, they didn’t understand that God had to restore all things.

▶ 19:33 He hadn’t even restored. Now people had spoken in tongues before Azusa Street. I hope you know that in Russia they did and and uh throughout America uh different people seeking God had spoken in tongues before but it was it was uh focused in on on Azusa Street. And then in 1968 and I lived through this one. I was a boy through the 48 and I got to see all this and hear all this in the 50s. I tell you, America was a godly a a God-focused nation. And it was in the 50s, right after that 48 revival that our Congress said, “Put on our money and God we trust.” It was after that 48 visitation of God. Are you there? And I got to live as a young boy through that period.

▶ 20:25 I love it. The 60s destroyed it. But in 1968, the seculars had come in and they were attacking everything. Abortion, Bible, out of the schools, prayer out of the schools and all that. So in 1968, God came and and I’ll tell you, us Pentecostals thought we were the select of the elect. Now they can tell you what they want, but I I was in the churches and we thought that all these other denominations and all people going to have to come to us for this Revelation of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah. So what does God do? 1968 he comes and just pours it out on the Catholics, Lutheran, Presbyterians, Episcopalian. Didn’t ask anybody anything. Just did it. They didn’t even know what was happening to them. And they made the same mistakes that the Pentecostals made in 1900. Identical mistakes.

▶ 21:18 They called themselves the charismatic movement. How many of you heard the word of the charismatics? Okay, it’s nothing but Pentecostals with a new name. All right, but God did it. The Catholic Church was so threatened by them that they agreed to let these Pentecostals meet in a separate room in the temple in the Catholic church to keep him from leaving because Catholics were leaving when they got filled with the spirit to go find out what was going on. Are you there? Now, you can read this. This is history. I’m not lying to you, but I live through this. And immediately the Jesus people came on the scene. These hippies, gosh, they didn’t wash their clothes. A lot of them they never goodness, you know, they wore feathers. Uh they were a bunch of weirdos, let me tell you.

▶ 22:10 Peace. And the Jesus people were also spiritfilled people. They were filled with the spirit. They went into spiritfilled churches and all, but they did a lot of weird things, too. And who does God send a hillbilly from Kentucky to minister to? Hippies? Me. A hillbilly from Kentucky ministering to hillbilly uh to these hippies. And that lasted till the 90s. And since the 90s we have declined attendance in churches including the Catholics is only 25% of Christians including Catholics go to church and the percentage of Christians in America has gone from 86% in the year 2000 to 70ome percent in present day.

Why are we declining?

▶ Watch this part (23:14)

Short answer: What you believe affects behavior—change your thinking; invite the Holy Ghost; times of refreshing.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 23:14 We’re declining. And as somebody said, even those that say they’re Christians is up. So we’re still in Acts chapter 3. Let’s jump up to verse 19, the restoration of all things in verse 21. And before he said it, he said this, repent. Change your thinking. The word repent here, there’s two words for repent in the Bible. One is turn. This one is change your thinking. That mean some a lot of us need to change our thinking. Yeah. The battle’s for the mind, folks.

▶ 24:07 What you believe in your mind is going to affect your behavior. So we need to change our thinking. The other repent you know be sorry for your sins and then other repent is turn. The word converted here is turn. Repent. Change your thinking. Turn back. Turn to God. Turn to right. See repent and be converted till the times of refreshing shall come. Times of what? The presence of the Lord. Oh my gosh. Listen, what is my greatest opportunity of really repenting and turning is when I can get into a church where they worship God.

▶ 25:08 They believe in the presence of God. They believe in the Holy Ghost. And they invite him in. One of one of the songs that us Pentecostals sang a lot is Holy Spirit. You are welcome in this place. Why? We invite him in. When you sing about him, he comes. And when he comes, he can refresh you. And he can cause you to repent, change your thinking, turn your life around. And he promised times of refreshing. And that’s what we saw. Martin Luther, the first awakening, the second awakening, the third awakening, the fourth awakening, which was in the 60s and to the 90s.

▶ 26:00 You see, we saw God doing what he said he would do. Are you with me? Times of refreshing. Are you glad that God has in his calendar times of refreshing,. Folks? We need it. It’s imperative for a lot of us to really change our life and change our thinking is for God’s presence to get a hold of us. And make us feel bad and ashamed about how we’re thinking and acting so he can change how we’re thinking and acting. Hallelujah. Times of refreshing shall come. And this is the quality of restoration I showed you in Ephesians. He wants for us to grow into the measure of the stature of Christ.

▶ 26:54 He is coming for a glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. And he’s not coming back until he attains that goal. And he has the power to do it, folks. So is there times of refreshing coming to the world in the future? Does God have to rapture us out or can he do what he said he could do? How many want to be a part of that? Yeah. You remember in Daniel in that end days there will be a wise and understanding people. Remember that. A people that will bring many to the Lord. A people that are strong. This is what Haggi and them are talking about. The glory of the latter house. We haven’t touched, listen to me, the glory of the early church.

▶ 27:49 Yes, we have a few healings here and there, and yes, we’ve had visitations, but God is out to fulfill his word. Folks, you get what you seek for. If you want to be that kind of people, you seek for it. Hag prophesied it, folks. We got a ways to go to be like the early church. How many of you agree with that?
