Restoration Prosperity Part 1: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Israel prospered through prophecy as elders built. God used heathen kings. Their labor was unclean until they repented and restored the foundation. The altar points to Christ’s cross; our sacrifice is praise in action, and the feasts are fulfilled in Jesus.
What is restoration prosperity?
Short answer: Success through prophecy—elders built and prospered through Haggai and Zechariah.
▶ 0:00 Today’s session is called restoration prosperity or restoration success through prophecy. This prosperity and this success we’re going to find comes through prophecy. Prophesying, edification, exhortation, and comfort. In Ezra 4, you remember verse 24. The work on the house of God stopped until the second year of Darius, the king of Persia, which was 17 years later. And then you remember that it got started again because the prophets Haggi and Zachchariah prophesied unto the Jews in the name of the Lord God of Israel. They began to they began to speak that edification, exhortation, and comfort.
▶ 0:56 In chapter 6 verse1 14 it tells us that the elders built. Elders should be builders not just titled people. They should be involved in building the house of God. The leaders built and they prospered through the prophesying. See they were successful from the prophecies of Hagi and Zachchariah and they finished the house. Now listen to this. According to the commandment of God, according to the commandment of Cyrus, king of Persia, heathen king that God named before he was born, 160 years before he was born.
Scripture in this part
Ezra 6:14 (NKJV)
So the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the command of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
— Ezra 6:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:56Can God use heathen leaders?
Short answer: Yes—Darius and Artaxerxes; God is bigger than their decisions; he recounts the 1990s California school voucher effort.
▶ 1:49 Darius, a heathen king, and Artaxerxes, the king of Persia. You see, government leaders, the Bible says, is in the hands of the Lord. Their heart, their mind is in the hand of the Lord. Like rivers of water. He can turn it any direction he wanted. And in this scripture, he turned it to use them to cause the restoration of God’s house, the restoration of God’s people. And this is so important because, you know, we got to realize our God is bigger than Washington DC.
▶ 2:43 And we got to realize that our God is bigger than their decisionmaking. Now, let me give you an example of this. Back in the 90s, we were very close in California of passing a voucher system for parents to choose their own school, even private schools. $5,000 would go to any school they wanted. Okay? I was a champion of that voucher thing in the church circles. But my brethren, you know, like CLA, Christian Law Association, and some of these other groups, they were bound and determined that you can’t get anything from government or government will start telling you what to do. And no matter how much I showed them scriptures like this, they were so dogmatic in their ways and they had influence over the churches in California over the pastors and and pastors have influence over their congregation.
▶ 3:50 And Gibbs just looked me right in the eye and he says, “Brother Kincer, I know you are a righteous man. I’ve never met a man like you. And I know you’re honest about this, but we see nothing but problems when churches take money from governments and the people get that welfare mentality. And I was trying to tell them, I already pay the tax. It’s my money they’re giving back. My house is taxed. It goes to these schools. I’m just getting my tax money used where I choose. It’s my money and I’ll deal with any strings attached when I get to them because I still have the First Amendment. But these people had way more influence than I did. And we lost that battle.
▶ 4:41 And folks, we were close to winning that if Christians could just understand and be a little more broad in their understanding of God’s power. To even use heathen leaders. Hi, Mike. Amen. See, and it plainly says God by the commandments of both God and these heathen leaders. It was finished the third day of the month Adar, which is the sixth month in the sixth year of the reign of Daria. So, it was four years in the making when they finished it. Now, we’re going to go on into Ezra and we’re going to go and we’re going to remind you that the altar was built on the first day.
Scripture in this part
Proverbs 21:1 (NKJV)
The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
— Proverbs 21:1 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:49Does holy flesh make things holy?
Short answer: No—but uncleanness spreads; their work was unclean until they repented and restored the foundation.
▶ 5:40 I mean, uh the altar was built first before the foundation on the uh first month, seventh day of the first year of Cyrus. He’s the one that commanded to rebuild the temple. Okay. And here is the prophecy that Hagi gave. All right. We’re going to look at these prophecies that caused the people to rise up and get with it. Because if it got those Jews to rise up and get with it, could it be possible that maybe those prophecies will still work for us? I think so. He gives out this simple little illustration and he talks to the priests right in front of the people and he points right at them and he says, “If one carries holy flesh in his garment and his garment touches bread or any other kind of food or any other kind of thing that man uses, shall that bread or that food be holy?” And the priests never even batted an eye.
▶ 6:50 They knew the scriptures and they said, “No, holy flesh touching something does not make it holy.” You got that? And they answer correctly. Then Hagi in verse 13 says, “Okay, if one is unclean by a dead body, whether it’s his animal that fell down dead while he was plowing and he had to move it from the field or a child died, their little baby died in their arms.” Anyway, they were unclean because they touched a dead body. That was the law. He says, “Okay, these people are unclean.” For no other reason than either accidentally or necessity they touched a dead body, they’re unclean. They didn’t do anything morally wrong.
▶ 7:40 They just in burying someone or burying their animal or whatever, they’re unclean. Got it? See there? There’s no real immorality involved here. If they touch any of these these food, this bread, shall it be unclean? And the priest again without batting an eye said, “Yep, they’re unclean. That food is unclean. It can’t be eaten. That drink is unclean. It can’t be drunk.” And then Hagi says, “So is this people.” He’s looking at the priest and then he says, “So is these people.” All right? They’re unclean. And this whole nation is unclean before me.
▶ 8:34 And so is every work of their hands. And that which they offer there is unclean. See, it’s unclean because the offering had to be touched by the offerer. Leviticus 3:2, you come with your sin offering, your peace offering, your guilt offering, your burnt offering. You had to lay your hands upon the sacrifice. Now when that animal was separated for sacrifice, the Bible declares that animal holy. Do you hear me? See, Jesus was holy before he died on the cross, wasn’t he? And so these these animals had to be perfect. No blemish or anything. And once that offerer took that animal and set it apart to be offered, that animal in the Bible is declared holy.
▶ 9:35 But now they had to lay their hands on the animal and they’re unclean. So what happened to the holy animal? It became unclean. I mean, man, he got his point across really good. And I’m sure you knew all that first time you read Hagi through. I mean, I’m sure that you just I’m just reminding you of this stuff. But that’s the way it was. He’s got them. The people are unclean. And well, and he says the things they offer here are unclean because they haven’t repented. They haven’t changed their ways. They’re unclean. And that makes the holy offering unclean. Are you there? Now he goes on to say this. Now consider from this day before a stone was laid in the temple of the Lord the foundation.
▶ 10:34 I smoke you with blasting mildew hell and all your labors. Yet you turn not to me, says the Lord. I tried to correct you. I tried to wake you up. I tried to give you economic problems so you would come and to me and realize what you’ve done and change your ways, but you wouldn’t turn to me. You stayed unclean. We got it. Isn’t that clear? Now consider now from the day the foundation was laid. No more am I smiting you with blasting and mildew and hell and your fruits are being productive 10 100 times more than you sow. Things have changed. Why? Because now you turned you repented from not restoring the house of God.
▶ 11:28 From the day that you repented and you started restoring and put putting the foundation in the house of God. I started blessing you in natural areas. Financial blessing. Hallelujah. You see, they went on from the altar. They already had the altar. They were already sacrificing on that altar. And Hagi’s got them. Remember, they said, “The time isn’t here to build the house of God.” They had excuses like us. One way or another, we have a zillion excuses why we’re not involved in building God’s church and in building our own life. We got a zillion excuses. That’s the way I was raised.
Scripture in this part
Haggai 2:12-14 (NKJV)
“If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?” ’ ” Then the priests answered and said, “No.” And Haggai said, “If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?” So the priests answered and said, “It shall be unclean.” Then Haggai answered and said, “ ‘So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,’ says the LORD, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
— Haggai 2:12-14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:50Haggai 2:17-19 (NKJV)
I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me,’ says the LORD. ‘Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider it: Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded fruit. But from this day I will bless you.’ ”
— Haggai 2:17-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:34What excuses do we make?
Short answer: I was born that way, I work too much—and we want freebies from government.
▶ 12:19 I was born that way. I work too much and I got to rest. I got this. I got that. Remember last week and God said they were unclean here because they had made an excuse not to build the house of God. From the time they decided yes, it is time and they got involved, God started blessing them. Hallelujah. Well, anyway, I thought it was good. You see, Christians today, they want something for nothing. Do you realize why we have such a problem with welfare in America? Because in the church, we want something for nothing. We want eternal life. We want forgiveness, but we don’t want to do anything. We don’t want to change our life.
▶ 13:11 We just want a freebie. So God gives us a government that gives us freebies. They tax our money and pay these lazy people not to work. Are you there? Hallelujah. Now, Bible morality does result in financial success. Now, it doesn’t preach that gain is godliness, but when you get to restoring your own life and you get involved in restoring other people’s lives, God says, “I will bless you financially.” You may not be a billionaire like Billy Gates, but I’ll see that you got shelter, food, and clothing. Hallelujah. The New Testament altar is Jesus Christ. All right? Remember, these things were written for our admonition, our learning on whom the ends of the world are come.
What does the altar teach?
Short answer: Jesus died outside the city—we kneel at the cross; animals and incense are nothing now.
▶ 14:07 You see, these things are written for us to learn by. So, what do we learn? We’re going to learn that the altar is Jesus himself in Hebrews 13:10 quoting from the law. We have an altar whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle that natural tabernacle. For the bodies of animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin are burned outside the camp. The burnt offering, the sin offering was not burnt on the altar at the temple. It was taken outside the camp and burnt. Do you remember that? See, why was it taken outside the camp? Because it was going to be the shadow illustration of Jesus dying outside the gates of Jerusalem for the sins of the world.
▶ 15:05 You see, he fulfilled that. He didn’t die inside Jerusalem or in the temple. He died outside on that cross of Calvary. Hallelujah. He said those sacrifices could never take away sin. But Jesus to sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the gate. Let us go therefore unto him without the camp bearing his reproach. See, that’s why we come to the altar in front of everybody. We come to the altar. The cross is our altar. I told you in the Bible, the the altar is a place of death. They killed animals there for sin, for guilt, and all this stuff. The cross is our altar.
▶ 15:58 And that’s why every Protestant church almost they come and they kneel down. They are kneeling before the cross. They’re kneeling before Jesus Christ. That death on the cross that cleanses from all sin, that forgives us. Amen. And that’s why Billy Graham and all of your your main speakers, the good ones, have people publicly come forward because you remember when King David sinned with Bashibba and the prophet came and told him, “Man, you’ve been caught.” He had to take his lamb from his house down the streets of Jerusalem. Everybody knew what that lamb was there for.
▶ 16:49 It was a sin offering. And they’re saying, “Hey, the king sinned. Hey. Hey.” But David in his humbleness, you have to humiliate yourself. You have to humble yourself. He had to take that lamb to the temple and offer it so he could be atoned for his sin. And until you’re willing to publicly come to that altar of Jesus, ain’t nothing to do with a baptismal certificate. It isn’t nothing to do with joining a church. It’s got to do with publicly declaring that you’re putting your hands on the man that sacrificed his life for you and identifying and imparting your sins to him. Now, we don’t do that physically.
▶ 17:41 We do that spiritually by coming and praying and identifying with Jesus on the cross. You got it now. Isn’t that good? You see, Jesus fulfilled every scripture right to the tea. Now it also here is very interesting in this same context of scripture about Jesus being our altar and going outside the camp and letting us know that the shadow laws never did do nothing for anyone including the blood animal sacrifices. The shadow laws were only powerful if they looked to the fulfillment in Christ. So he says in the midst of this, by him, by Jesus the sacrifice outside the gate, the one that died on the cross, by him, therefore, for this reason, let us offer the sacrifice of praise.
▶ 18:43 Animals don’t do us any good. Incense is worthless. Holy waters a blunt of nothing. You see, all that pointed to the church sacrificing the fruit of their lips, praise and thanksgiving unto Jesus. Let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God. How often? How often? Yeah. When I get up in the morning, thank you Lord for another day. And instead of give me a cup of coffee, I can’t handle day without a cup of coffee. No, you get up in the morning, say, “Thank you, Lord, for another day. Thank you for a job. Thank you, Lord, for my husband. Thank you, Lord, for my wife.” You begin to praise the Lord. It changes your attitude. It changes the whole day. That is the fruit of our lips.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 13:10-15 (NKJV)
We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
— Hebrews 13:10-15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 15:05What is the sacrifice of praise?
Short answer: The fruit of our lips put into action—oh that men would praise the Lord; praise breaks bars of iron.
▶ 19:35 He explains exactly what it is. The fruit of our thoughts. No, those thoughts have to be put into action. The fruit of our lips giving what? Thanks unto his name. Amen. That’s why this church praises God a lot. I understand the power in praise. I’ve experienced it. I know it will set people free. He is holy. Psalms 22:3, “Thou art holy, oh thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.” See, his presence comes when we praise him. We honor him. Are you with me? Hallelujah. And if the American church would get to praising more instead of going through rituals, we could change Washington DC because praise is a real New Testament sacrifice that works.
▶ 20:40 Amen. Now Psalm 107:21, several times in this Psalms, HE SAID, “OH, THAT MEN WOULD PRAISE THE LORD.” OH, THAT MEN WOULD PRAISE THE LORD. Several times he says that. And then he says, “Why?” And he says, “How?” For his goodness or why? For his goodness and his wonderful works to the children of men. Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare his works with rejoicing. This was in the Old Testament. See, even in the Old Testament, God had told him he didn’t care for animal sacrifices. He didn’t care for incense. He didn’t care about their holidays. A woman came into our church about a year and a half ago, good woman.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV)
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
— Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:35Psalm 107:15-16 (NKJV)
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, And cut the bars of iron in two.
— Psalm 107:15-16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:40Must we keep the feasts?
Short answer: No—they’re fulfilled in Jesus; be good to your family and neighbor.
▶ 21:35 She wanted to know how we were going to celebrate the feast of tabernacles and the feast of Pentecost and and so forth. And I go, “Lady, they’re fulfilled. What do I do to celebrate them? Tell me, what am I going to do to add on to what Jesus has already done? I’m a partaker of those feasts. Are you there? But see, we love rituals and somebody had taught her that. Hallelujah. Anyway, it says in Psalms 107, what happens when we praise the Lord? Even in Old Testament times, he satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
▶ 22:30 When oh that men would praise the Lord. When men praise the Lord, God moves. They cried unto the Lord in their trouble and he saved them out of the distresses when when they praise the Lord. Are you with me, church? This is not a mountainside ritual we go into this is a Bible principle that works. He brought them out of darkness in the shadow of death and break their chains asunder when oh the men would praise the Lord. He keeps saying oh the men would praise the Lord. Oh if they would get this he has broken the gates of brass and the if the heavens over you is brass then praise the Lord.
▶ 23:20 It breaks the brass. It cuts the bars of iron asunder. Fools because of transgression and their iniquities are afflicted. The soul hates all manner of meat and they draw nigh into the gates of death. When they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, he saves them out of their distresses. Oh, THE MEN WOULD PRAISE THE LORD. How many want delivered out of your distresses? Yes. Psalms 107 is a very powerful Psalm. I cut my teeth on this Psalm as a young Christian in my bedroom praising God because in the churches they didn’t do the things in the new in the Old Testament. You know, they had their little ritual, but in the Old Testament, he gives us nine ways to praise God. Lifting your hands is one of the ways you show praise and thanksgiving unto God. Standing, bowing, instruments, shouting, singing, speaking, they’re all principles of praise.
▶ 24:20 And the church is very few, you know, outside of clapping, you know, all Protestants have the clap. They got that one. They don’t even know why they clap. I could ask you Protestants why you clap. And I guarantee you 99% can’t tell me the result of you clapping before God. When it’s clearly in the Bible. Hallelujah. He will subdue the nations under us and all peoples under their feet. Before that, he says, “Clap your hands, all you people, and shout unto God with a voice of triumph, for he will subdue.” Why aren’t we subduing? Why are we being subdued? Because we’ve zipped our lip. Are you there church?
▶ 25:12 Hallelujah. You see, we got to get involved in the restoration process and God will bless us. Uh Isaiah over Psalms 40:6, sacrifices of burnt and sin offerings you did not desire nor require. This is in the Psalms. My ears have you open. What does that mean? When we got open ears, we what? Yeah, we’re listening. We’re following the principles. We’re obeying. See, God wants you to obey. And he says it again in Isaiah verse one. I hate your animal sacrifice. That’s why God used the word hate. I hate them. Who has told you to bring these things to me? Well, he did. You told us to bring these things unto you.
▶ 26:05 You see, but they didn’t get the the second part of the sentence. See, they didn’t get the understanding that the shadow laws were only pointing to Christ and the new covenant. And what God really wanted was people living right, treating each other right, doing right. And he says it, “I hate your animal sacrifice. I hate your feast days, Passover, unleaven bread, first fruits, Pentecost, day of atonement, and the feast of tabernacles. I don’t like them. I DON’T LIKE your new moon. Every month you go through this ritual. I hate it. Your Sabbaths.
▶ 27:00 Oh man, they had all kinds of things about the Sabbath. They even had a rule that you could travel a Sabbath day’s journey. You could go so far on a Sabbath day, it was okay. It’s not even in the Bible. They just concocted it because they didn’t want to sit home and relax and enjoy their family and, you know, and worship God. So, they said, “Well, you can go this far on the Sabbath day.” It’s not even in the not even in the Bible. It’s in the New Testament. Scribes and Pharisees made it up. Are you with me? They never got it. That God wanted them to do good. He wanted to He wanted them to restore their wicked life to a good life. And he says plainly there in Isaiah, “Cease to do evil. Learn to do what?”. Good. Church, that’s what it’s all about. Your life should wind up being good.
▶ 27:56 Good to your husband, good to your wife, good to your children, good to your parents, good to your neighbor. That’s what it’s all about. Restoration, I mean, redemption without restoration is not salvation because you’re not delivered.
