What does Haggai 2:21 say?

Short answer: God will shake heaven and earth—31 major wars today, more civilian casualties; Lincoln saw judgment; is America next over its sins?

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 0:00 We are in Haggai 2:21. Now Haggai remember switched from edification, exhortation and comfort to the office of a prophet which he is predicting things that they must come to pass or the Bible says he is a false prophet. You must understand there is a difference between prophesying for edification, exhortation and comfort than predicting the future saying God is going to do something. The office of a prophet or you’re going to say there’s a new scripture which you can’t do because the book contains it all then it better come to pass or you the Bible says is a false prophet. Is that a good amen? We got to understand the difference between the two. He switches to the office of a prophet and he’s talking about the future and he repeats again I will shake the heaven.

▶ 0:57 All right. He already said that and we showed you that in the New Testament. It says he repeats this scripture and God says he’s going to shake everything that cannot be shaken so that that which is cannot be shaken will remain. You see? All right. Now he says, I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and riders. That’s the armor division of the military back then. I’ll overthrow it. I will overthrow the Calvary, the horses and the riders. They’re going to come down. And he said how he’s going to do it. He says how he’s going to do it. By the sword of his what?

▶ 1:52 Brother. You see, there are 31 major wars in the earth today. There’s there’s a lot more, but 31 major. They call them major because over a thousand people a year are getting killed. Most of those are civil wars, conflicts within a nation, just like the prophet said was going to happen. Do you remember? Why does God shake? Why does God correct? To bring people back to him, to get them to wake up. He isn’t out to destroy lives. He’s out to restore lives. Okay? 75% of the casualties today in war are civilians.

▶ 2:46 World War I only 5% of casualties were civilian. You see the war has changed. Things have changed. Civilians are getting slaughtered. Uh in the Revolutionary War, we lost 25,000 people. In the Civil War, we lost 650,000 people, more than World War I and World War II combined. And why did America have a Civil War? Because they legalized slavery. And slavery is against the scriptures. And Abraham Lincoln himself said that this could be God’s judgment on America for slavery.

▶ 3:43 Abraham Lincoln said that in a speech. And so we see that Haggai’s prophecies are coming to pass in every generation. Isn’t that true? And it’s coming to pass in our generation. So I asked you this question. Do you know most of the people that died in these wars, by the way, died from disease and other sources, not by bullets and bombs? The vast majority, I’m not talking about 50%, it’s over 50%. In every one of these wars, they died from diseases and the elements and other causes. Not the bullet, not the bomb. My question to you today is America headed for another civil war.

▶ 4:36 Is Haggai going to be brought to pass in America again over the homosexual issue, the abortion issue, the socialists? They’re trying to take everything we got slowly. Religious liberties. They are actually taking our religious liberties away. They’ve been doing it for 40 years. And California is leading the pack. And taxes. What was the Revolutionary War fought over? Taxes. And Britain trying to dictate their government over a people that wanted freedom. They wanted to be able to be individuals, own property, and live a life they chose to live.

▶ 5:35 Now, Jesus himself said there would be wars and rumors of wars. Nation shall rise against nation in that famous chapter of the second coming of Christ, the end of the world. And so, you know, as a young Christian, I saw this God’s going to whip the nation. And I said, “Lord, get them. I’m like the like the apostles, you know, rain down far from heaven, Lord. Show them who’s boss, man. Get these sinners.” But you got to remember that in God’s correction, he’s still after the nations. In Revelations 5:9, you have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe, every tongue, every people, and every nation. So we have to look at the nations as God looks at them.

Scripture (NKJV)

Haggai 2:21-22 (NKJV)

“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying: ‘I will shake heaven and earth. I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots And those who ride in them; The horses and their riders shall come down, Every one by the sword of his brother.

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 24:6-7 (NKJV)

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Who is Zerubbabel?

▶ Watch this part (6:25)

Short answer: The civil leader—made like a signet ring, as the king’s word backs up; God saves as with Mordecai.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 6:25 Yes, God brings correction. Our sin corrects us, you see, but at the same time, God is out to what? Win the nations to him. And so those people you consider enemies of God, God is after them to change their thinking and bring them back to him. You got to keep that balance. All right. Now verse 23. Remember he’s operating in the office of a prophet now. And he says in that day I will take you Zerubbable my servant and I will make you a senate ring and I have chosen you.

▶ 7:20 Now if you know Zerubbabel you know he was the civil leader at this time in Judah. A Senate ring is a ring that the kings back in those days gave their authority when when they put that Senate impression on a piece of paper or on a wax seal that sealed a commandment that was carried out. They knew that came directly from the king. They knew that all the king’s authority, all the king’s power is behind this statement. Now, let me give you an illustration of that. When Joseph went down to Egypt, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave Joseph his reign. And Joseph rode in the second chariot became the second ruler in Egypt. And whatever Joseph said, he put the king’s insignia on it.

▶ 8:17 And that meant the king said it, and the king would back it up. You got it? Let’s do another one. Moriah in the book of Esther. Moriah was the Jew that raised Esther after her parents were killed in the war. She was an orphan and uh Moriah raised her after Hmon was exposed, the king of Persia took the ring that he had gave Hmon to speak and and make laws for him. Took it off of Na Hmon and gave it to Moriah and said, “Moriah, you write the laws that you want concerning your people.” And this Senate ring, this ring says that nobody can change that.

▶ 9:12 And so Mordecai made two laws and he saved the Jews from extension ex being annihilated not an extension but being annihilated in Egypt. You got it? Now when you read about Zerubbabel he never had that kind of authority. So what is he saying? Remember, a mystery is something the purpose is hidden. How many of you like mystery movies or mystery books? Yeah. You’re trying to figure out where the guy’s going and all that and a good writer can fool you to right to the end and you go, “Oh, no. I don’t believe it.” I love mysteries and the Bible is written in mysteries.

Scripture (NKJV)

Haggai 2:23 (NKJV)

‘In that day,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says the LORD, ‘and will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,’ says the LORD of hosts.”

What is “in that day”?

▶ Watch this part (10:07)

Short answer: The last days—the Lord alone exalted.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 10:07 So let’s look at number one. In that day, what’s he talking about when he says in that day? We go to Isaiah 2. In the last days, what days? The last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains. Okay? Talking about the church, the house of God that Jesus is going to build. It will be exalted above all the hills. All the other religions are nothing. They’re just hills compared to the real church. And all nations shall flow into that. How many nations? All nations. Have we seen the fulfillment fulfillment of that? Yes, we have. Everywhere you go in every nation, people are believing in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah.

▶ 11:01 Now, I’m not saying it’s totally fulfilled, but it is being f and we just in the last hundred years have reached nations and and and tribes that never before reached. A tribe in Brazil and a tribe uh in uh Indonesia, primitive tribe, first time ever reached in your generation. Isn’t that beautiful? Now, when’s it going to happen? In the last days. Now, the rest of the chapter is talking about the last days, but it doesn’t use the phrase the last days. In verse 11, 17 and 20, he uses the phrase in that day. In what day? The last day. Got it. So, what’s going to happen in that day?

▶ 11:57 In the last days, the Lord alone shall be exalted. In that day they shall go into the holes in the caves for the fear of the Lord when he arises to shake terribly the earth. In that day he says the proud shall be humbled in that day and all idols will be discarded in that day. What day? The last day. So what is Haggai saying in the last days? Well, Zachchariah didn’t live in the last days. The last days started when Jesus came. Is it making sense to you? You’re looking at me really fuzzy. Zerubbable, my servant.

Who is the Branch?

▶ Watch this part (12:51)

Short answer: Jesus—My servant, the builder of the house who bears the glory and rules as King of kings.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 12:51 Okay, all of us are God’s servant. But let me tell you there is someone who is called my servant with the title. What will happen in that day? Zechariah 38. I will bring forth my servant. Who? The branch. Jesus is called the branch at least six times in the Old Testament. I’m going to use a couple of them. All right. His his name is also the branch. And you never hear us saying, “Oh branch of God.” See, we’ll say, “Oh, Emmanuel.” We’ll say, “Jesus.” You never hear people singing about his other name, the branch. Are you there? Why?

▶ 13:43 Because we haven’t been taught about it. He’s called the branch, you see. And he’s called what? My servant. Now, see? Yes. Haggai was a servant of God. Zerubbabel was a servant of God. Joshua was a servant of God at this time, the spiritual leader. But what Haggai is talking about is Jesus. 612 The man whose name is what? The branch. He shall grow up out of his place, build the temple of the Lord. Who does the Bible say? Unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain to build it.

▶ 14:35 Who is the builder of the house? Jesus Christ. The Lord. Yes. See, the branch is the builder. He bears the glory. Who do we glorify? Who did we glorify this morning when we came in in our worship? Jesus. He’s the one that gets the glory. Us leaders are nothing but a lot of mouthpieces that sometimes don’t use our mouth right. And God moves and touches people. We want to give credit to the one that God used. Just remember this. God used a donkey to get through to Bum. If he could use a donkey, don’t be patting yourself on the back because you pray a prayer or say something and God touches someone’s life. Just keep going with your life. That’s right. Can I hear an amen? Yeah. Amen. All right.

▶ 15:26 He bears the glory. He rules. Is he the king of kings and the Lord of lords? Is he king of all the civil leaders, civil governments in the earth? Yes. Is he the Lord of the harvest? You know, why are you binding Satan trying to win people to Christ instead of going to the Lord of the harvest who can release the harvest? Satan isn’t in control of the harvest. Jesus is the Lord of the harvest. And when you speak his words, you see, he backs it up with his authority. Now, and he is a priest upon his throne. What priest is Jesus? He’s the high priest.

▶ 16:17 What’s his name called in the New Testament? Did he come from Aaron? Somebody said it over here. Melzdc. Yes. See, no beginning, no end. Mechazedc had no beginning, no end. See, Jesus had what? No beginning. He didn’t come through Aaron the priesthood. He came through the Mckelzc priesthood. Okay, got it and his throne. So my servant is talking about who? You got it. You got it. Hallelujah. So I will make you a senate ring. Now did Jesus have all authority in heaven behind him? Absolutely. When Pilate wanted to crucify him, he told Pilate, you know, you would have no authority at all if it wasn’t given to you from above.

▶ 17:15 And he said, “Let me tell you guys something. If I wanted to get out of this crucifixion, all I have to do is call 10,000 angels and bam, you’re dead meat and I’m alive.”. But I’m going to go through this. See, he let them know who he was. See, when they tried to stone Jesus before, he went right through the crowd. Why? Nobody can kill God until God decides to lay down his life. Do we understand that? Hallelujah. So Jesus had the Senate ring. He passed it on to his apostles. Apostle means an ambassador of the one who sent him with all the authority. And folks, you cannot take on the title of an apostle unless you got the goods to back it up.

▶ 18:11 And when I go to Africa, they have uh Joseph Serena, pastor, apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher. You know, he’s he’s everything. You know, they Listen, you can’t be an apostle because somebody wants to give you a title. You’re going to be an apostle because you have authority in God. Are you there? Now, God chose Jesus. Let’s go to Isaiah 11:1. A branch shall grow out of Jesse’s roots. See there Jesus had to come from the seed of David who was the son of Jesse. The branch is going to come through Judah. David’s seed.

What did the Son of David do?

▶ Watch this part (19:04)

Short answer: Healed all the sick and will bring judgment to the Gentiles—My elect in whom My soul delights.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 19:04 It talks about David the son of David talking about Jesus. All right. And that’s the branch. Isaiah 41421. My servant, my elect. The word elect means chosen in whom I delight. I will put my spirit on him and he will bring judgment to the Gentiles. Now we’re going to get clear clarification that my servant is Jesus. Okay, we’re going to get it now that he’s the chosen one that he has the Senate reign, not Zerubbabable. In Matthew 12:15, Jesus is ministering to the multitudes. They’re following him. Some of that multitude is out to kill him. They don’t like him. But he’s ministering to them.

▶ 19:58 And it says they brought the sick and the afflicted to him and he healed how many? All of them. Now, we know the Sarapheneician woman was not a Jew and yet Jesus healed her we know that the uh Roman leader was not a Jew. He was an Italian. And we know that he only came for the house of Israel. See, Jesus said, “Don’t you know I just came for the house of Israel?” But we know in the Bible he came for how many? All nations. But at that time he was ministering to the Jew mainly. So we my point is it wasn’t just Jews in this multitudes. There were other nations.

▶ 20:51 Now he says up here he’s going to bring judgment to the Gentiles. Now as a young preacher man I said yeah Lord rain that fire down. Yeah man. Show them who’s boss. Get them for their sin. That’s it Lord. But watch the fulfillment. Okay. My servant whom I have chosen. Same words. He says, “This is that which was spoken out of Isaiah.” This is what Jesus said. I just didn’t have room to put it up there. Jesus said, “This is what was spoken out of Isaiah. I am fulfilling.” He said, “This is the fulfillment of what Isaiah said.” And then he quotes this scripture out of Isaiah. See multitudes whom I have cho I mean my servant whom I have chosen my beloved.

▶ 21:43 See in whom my soul is well pleased. I delight my elect. I will put my spirit upon him. I will put my spirit on him and he will show judgment to the Gentiles. Now Jesus said I’m fulfilling that scripture. And what kind of judgment did he bring to the Gentiles? Healing. Healing. Healing. He what? Healed them all. The mental, the emotional, the physical, the spiritual. He healed everything that came to him because he loves the Gentiles and he wants the Gentiles to come to him. And we saw it back there in Hagi. All nations. Ain’t that right? Yes. Now, isn’t that powerful, church?

▶ 22:44 We need to get serious about Jesus healing our enemies, healing the nations. A lot of them will reject him. That’s true. But we got to approach it. We don’t know which way the word’s going to fall. We got to preach the word. We got to share Christ so that he can do his job in the nations. Now we go to the 11th month, 24th day of the second year of Darius and Zechariah starts prophesying and he says this statement and chapter 1 verse 11. Four horse riders were going to and fro in the earth. Okay. They came back with a report that all the earth is resting quietly. Now, I know you know exactly what that means, and I’m wasting my time explaining to you here.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 12:15-18 (NKJV)

But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Yet He warned them not to make Him known, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.

What about the horses and Zion?

▶ Watch this part (23:39)

Short answer: God is angry with the nations at ease who helped with evil intent; He will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor Kincer

▶ 23:39 Honestly, when I was a young Christian, I had this coupled with the horses in Revelation, the of the man. I tell you, you know how we try to tie everything in. And the prophet just ties it all in. Watch. Are you ready? They gave a report. The earth is resting quietly. Then the messenger says to the Lord, “How long will you not have mercy upon Judah, Jerusalem, against which you were angry these 70 years?” Now you see these two words that are highlighted here. Jerusalem. Say it. Jerusalem. Judah. Judah. Okay, that’s very important. He didn’t say my people.

▶ 24:30 He said Judah and Jerusalem. Now, we know that they were in captivity seven years. We know that 17 years have gone by since the first captives came back to Israel, don’t we? Past lessons, are you there? We know there were three captivities of Israel. And it just so happened that the third is about 17 years later. So what’s God doing? He fulfilled the first captivity 70 years. He fulfilled the last captivity of 70 years. He gets the people building the house and they say, “You were angry with who? Judah and Jerusalem.” Got it? All right. Watch now. And so the Lord answered the messenger and said with good and comforting words, “The Lord said,”I am zealous for Jerusalem.” And now he throws in a word called Zion.

▶ 25:29 Say Zion. Now Zion. A lot of us Zion doesn’t mean a hill of beans. It’s a hill over there in Jerusalem that was a stronghold in the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a city over there in the Middle East in the nation of uh Judah. And Judah was the nation Jews. Okay. Jews. Judah. So what’s he going to speak to Zion, Judah, and Jerusalem? Good and comforting words. How many of you can handle that? Yeah. How many of you are deserve the correction you get from God? But sure is nice when daddy picks you up and says he still loves you. See, okay, he’s going to speak good and comforting words.

▶ 26:24 I am very angry, God said with the nations at ease. These four horses that were going through the earth and saw the earth relaxing. God says, I’m angry at those nations. He doesn’t use the word earth. Now I’m very angry. See, now you know why he sent the four horsemen out to check out the earth. Now here’s why he’s angry. They helped. What did they help do? Correct Israel. God used these nations to correct Israel that he was a little angry at, but he’s very angry at these nations that are so relaxed in their condition that he used to correct his people.

▶ 27:29 And they did it with evil intent. They didn’t want the Jews corrected. They want him annihilated. They never wanted him to go back to the land. They never wanted him to be restored. They wouldn’t let Daniel pray three times a day. You know, they wouldn’t let Shadrach, Meant, and Abednego not bow down to those idols. You see, you see, God used them to help him in his goals. And he says they did it with evil, harmful intent. Now, this is important stuff because he’s really not talking about natural Israel. Now, I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy and a surveyor’s line. It says line in your Bible, but it’s a measurement line.

▶ 28:20 It’s it’s like we got 60 acres here. And there are, you know, you get the surveyors out and they’ll tell you exactly where your property, everything on this side of the line, it belongs to you. You have authority over it. You can do with it what you want. He says, “I am going to put a surveyor’s line over Jerusalem, Judah, and Zion.” Why? Because they’re mine. And anybody steps a foot over that line to bother my people, they’re going to deal with me. You got it? I don’t know about you, but boy, that makes me feel pretty good. I got big bad Jesus on my side, man. Don’t mess around with me, boy. I’m a Jesus boy now. My house shall be built in it. In what? Zion, Jerusalem, and Judah.

▶ 29:16 Are you there? Okay. The Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem and Judah. They’re all synonymous. He’s going to restore them. Well, these guys are already back. Who needs restoring? People in the future generations. Watch.
