Power of God - February 11, 2024: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Faith must rest on the power of God, not human wisdom. Michael uses lightning and electricity to show the difference between knowing about God and being changed by Him. Zacchaeus, Jacob, the Emmaus disciples, the woman who touched His garment, the Shunammite and the sinful woman all show that being near Jesus is not the same as direct contact. Keep pursuing Him until it happens.
Is knowing about God enough?
Short answer: No; Paul preached in demonstration of the Spirit and power. Learning about electricity is different from getting electrocuted.
▶ 0:12 All right welcome this morning going to get into God’s word it’s good to be in his house his word is very important. Um the truth sets us free amen and also the son sets us. Free he who uh he who the Son sets free is free indeed amen and the truth will set you free so we need need both of those things you need his word and we need that powerful touch and presence of God. Amen in 1 Corinthians chapter 2:4 Paul writes and he says my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God it is imperative it is imperative for us today to experience the power of God there is a difference between praying for God’s power and experiencing his power there is a difference between learning about electricity and getting.
▶ 1:34 Electrocuted there is a big difference there’s a big difference between knowledge of it and experiencing it and we need the experience and experiencing God is not a harmful thing like electrocution it is a good thing that will change you for the rest of your life it leaves a lifetime mark God wants to leave a lifetime mark on your heart and on your life and that’s what we mean when we say that we want to walk out of this assembly. Changed. Different when we come in we want God’s mark to come on our heart and on our lives so that we can walk away different. Amen there’s some pictures up on the screen about of some trees and a person who’s struck by lightning two people struck by light lightning and it left a mark on their skin the tree on the upper left has been split right down the middle by lightning and that that mark is going to be there for the rest of that tree’s life and uh this tree over here on the top right.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
— John 8:36 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:121 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NKJV)
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
— 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:12What does lightning illustrate?
Short answer: Trees and people struck by lightning are marked for life; you won’t get struck in a cave, so put yourself in the right condition.
▶ 2:50 Is it’s been struck by lightning and the lightning definitely left a Mark. Um these people and these trees were were impacted and changeed for life when the lightning hit them having knowledge of lightning having faith in lightning or preparation of lightning prediction only gets you so far you still have to experience it just because you’re a tree doesn’t mean you’re going to be struck by lightning you can’t force it to happen you can force it to happen today in with tools but not in nature and not in the spirit with God we’re going to look at some people this morning that were impacted and changed for life when they had a direct contact with Jesus Christ the lightning Zacchaeus Jacob the woman with the issue of blood the Shunammite woman and the sinful woman we need to experience the power of God and we need to come in direct contact with Jesus.
Was climbing the tree enough for Zacchaeus?
Short answer: No; he overcame obstacles and received Jesus joyfully but was still a looky-loo until direct contact changed him and he restored fourfold.
▶ 3:53 Christ in Luke 19:2 says behold there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector he was rich he sought to see who Jesus. Was he was short he climbed up a sycamore tree to see. Him now Zacchaeus had something very powerful happen to him but being the chief tax collector did not get him direct contact with Jesus Christ your position in your life is not going to get you access to God your position in your life is not going to get you direct contact with Jesus and neither did being rich just because you’re rich maybe you’re powerful that’s not going to get you direct contact with Jesus Christ so us normal people us poor people we can have some hope amen that we can touch God and we can experience God just like everyone else God is not a respect of persons he made the wise choice to seek God number one it’s very important to put yourself where Jesus is this morning are you in his house are you in his church that’s where Jesus.
▶ 5:19 Is you’re not going to get struck by lightning in a cave in a bunker in pleasant weather you’ve got to put yourself in the right condition. Now just because you put yourself there doesn’t mean you’ve got it but you’re a lot further away when you are not close to. Him being short didn’t give him an advantage and maybe you feel like you’re a victim today and you want may want special treatment but Jesus Christ is not playing that. Game just just because you’re short just because this or that that does not exclude you from coming to Jesus just like everybody. Else and number two he climbed up that tree he overcame the obstacles in your life you’re going to have to overcome some obstacles you have to overcome obstacles to get here this morning you have to overcome obstacles to respond to his word you have to overcome obstacles to respond to the ten.
▶ 6:36 Commandments you’re going to have to overcome some obstacles and I it is very important to do. That but that still did not get him direct contact with Christ he was in the tree he saw him and that didn’t give him direct contact with Jesus we may see a miracle we may see something wonderful that God does but that doesn’t mean we’ve made direct contact with him. Ourself Luke 19:. 5 he looked up and saw him Jesus and he said to him zachus come down for today I must stay at your house Revelations 3:20 behold I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and dine with him and he with me me Zacchaeus heard Christ’s voice amen and he responded he made haste came down and received him.
▶ 7:42 Joyfully in Matthew chapter 13:20 those who hear the word or receive the seed on stony places are like him who hears the word immediately receives it with joy but has no root but only endures for a while for when tribulation or persecution arises immediately he stumbles and so Zacchaeus is being put through the steps here is he going to respond. Right. Hearing Christ’s voice did not change. Zakus now it is important I’m putting those up as numbers because they are important it is important important for you to hear it’s important for you to respond it’s important for us to hear his voice it’s important for us to receive.
▶ 8:40 Him but that didn’t change. Zacchaeus at this point is. Still a looky-loo he wanted to see Jesus he wanted to see what he would do he wanted to see a miracle he he was so excited a famous person’s coming to my my house oh man everybody knows about Jesus he’s coming to my house man I’m a cheap tax collector I’m rich I got the famous guy coming to my house I’m looking. Good more status a good image Jesus is coming to my house in Luke chapter. 197 they said about Zacchaeus they all compl laain and said he has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.
▶ 9:35 And then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord look I gave half of my goods to the poor if I’ve taken anything from anyone by false accusation I restore. Fourfold and Jesus said to him today salvation has come to this house and so right in this moment Zacchaeus had direct contact. With God and he had a choice whether or not he was going to respond how was he going to respond to his sin how is he going to respond to him being exposed as a thief he repented right. There and Jesus said today he says today right now at this moment salvation direct contact has come to this.
Scripture in this part
Luke 19:2-9 (NKJV)
Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.” Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;
— Luke 19:2-9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:53Matthew 13:20-21 (NKJV)
But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
— Matthew 13:20-21 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:42What are you until you meet Christ?
Short answer: A spectator and observer, not yet His child.
▶ 10:33 House you can seek Jesus you can overcome your obstacles you can hear his voice you can receive him gladly but until you come into direct contact with Christ you’re still just a spectator you’re an observer and you’re not his child yet you have to make direct contact with with Christ Zacchaeus knew he was a thief Jesus knew he was a thief Jesus knew he had had he had stolen from. People Jesus didn’t tell Zacchaeus oh you got to do all this stuff no Zacchaeus in his conscience in his heart God spoke to him and he responded and he said I am going to do that right now I’m going to change.
When was Jacob changed?
Short answer: Not while wrestling, but when God blessed him and changed him.
▶ 11:30 And that is when he made direct contact with Jesus. Christ Genesis chapter 32 verse 24 Jacob wrestled with him until the breaking of day Jacob is about to meet Esau his brother and he’s afraid to meet his brother because he stole the birthright and he ran away and now he’s meeting his brother for the first time since that incident and his brother it sounds like is is gearing up for a a fight and he is he’s not looking forward to it the night before he meets with Esau he’s wrestling with this man it doesn’t say who he is but he says he’s wrestling with him until the breaking of day and when he saw that he did not prevail against Jacob when the other man saw he didn’t prevail against Jacob he touched the socket of his hip and it became out of joint as he wrestled with.
▶ 12:40 Him and this man said let me go for the day breaks and he said I will not let you go unless you bless. Me now Jacob’s hands are on this man the whole time but nothing is happening he’s wrestling that didn’t change. Jacob but Jacob was changed when God when the man he was wrestling reached out touched his hip and from that day forward he walked with a limp now you may think oh that’s not a good thing but you know we need to ask ourselves how many of us me included need to change our walk with God that touch on his hip changed his walk we need a touch that changes us and from that day forward Jacob walked different God left a lifetime mark on Jacob and he lived a very long life he just had a limp we need a direct contact with God that changes our behavior changes our speech changes our actions Luke 2428 going along with the Jacob’s message on the road to emus if you can if you remember this story he indicated that he would have gone on farther now Jesus is talking with
Scripture in this part
Genesis 32:24-28 (NKJV)
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
— Genesis 32:24-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:30When did the Emmaus disciples change?
Short answer: When their eyes were opened and they knew Him; they turned back to Jerusalem.
▶ 14:11 a guy named Cleopas and another guy I don’t remember the other guy’s name and they’re walking on the road to Emmaus and Jesus had just been crucified and it’s the third day and they’re telling Jesus that this is the third day that since these things have happened and they’re telling them that Cleopas is and this other guy are telling Jesus all about himself and how he died on the cross and they don’t know it’s him they can’t see that it’s him just like Jacob couldn’t see the man he was wrestling with and Jesus who they couldn’t tell was Jesus indicated he would have gone on farther but they constrained him they grabbed him and they said come with us they didn’t let him. Go and it came to pass as he sat at the table with them he took bread blessed and broke it and their eyes were open and they knew him and they said did not our heart burn within us while he talked with us on the road and he opened the scriptures to us so just like Jacob not letting God go these men would not let Christ go even though they did not know he.
▶ 15:19 Was. Jesus just like Jacob didn’t know that he was wrestling. God. They didn’t come into direct contact with Christ until their eyes were opened and they knew him and these men. Changed they were walking away from Jerusalem and when their eyes were open when they had direct contact with God they got up and they went back to Jerusalem and they told the disciples what had happened and they told them that Jesus Christ is risen. Very important they were changed see at this time in their life they were thinking that the Christ that they had served they had seen many miracles they saw him die on the cross and they’re like oh what good was it all but when they met him and when they saw him and when they knew him they experienced their risen savior their risen the resurrected Christ and that is very powerful and that is impactful that will change your life.
Scripture in this part
Luke 24:13-33 (NKJV)
Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?” Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?” And He said to them, “What things?” So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us. When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.” Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,
— Luke 24:13-33 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:11What did the woman with the issue of blood do?
Short answer: She heard about Jesus, reached out and touched Him, and power went out of Him.
▶ 16:35 Mark 5:25 a certain woman had a flow of blood for 12 years had suffered many things from many physicians she spent all that she had but grew worse but she heard about Jesus it’s important we want to hear about him we want to respond to him when we hear his voice we want to respond to it she came behind him in the crowd she came to him that she responded she touched his garment and she said if o if only I may touch his clothes I shall be made. Well she arrived in the midst of the crowd with a different attitude she wasn’t healed when she heard about Jesus she wasn’t healed when she arrived she wasn’t healed because she believed that he would heal her her.
▶ 17:39 She was healed when she reached out and touched Jesus and power went out of him and she made direct contact with. Christ immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up and she uh uh she was healed Jesus immediately knowing in himself that power had gone out of him turned and said who touched me who touched my clothes and the disciples said you see the multitude thronging you and you say who touched me why was the multitude not getting. Touched this is in mark chapter 5 did you know that there is another multitude in mark chapter 3 two chapters before another multitude was touching Jesus and they all were healed what is the difference between this multitude and that previous.
Scripture in this part
Mark 5:25-30 (NKJV)
Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
— Mark 5:25-30 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:35Are we like the crowd around Jesus?
Short answer: They wanted proof and a show; being in the crowd or in church doesn’t mean direct contact.
▶ 18:42 One they wanted to see when Jesus arrived on the scene Jairus came up and he said my daughter’s dead I need or she’s sick she needs to be healed and this crowd that had formed they wanted to see the proof they wanted wanted to see Christ do the healing they wanted to see the sign when Jesus came to the girl that he uh raised from the dead he said to the girl that she is what. Sleeping and how did they. Respond they ridiculed. Jesus this multitude was. Different they wanted the proof they wanted to put Christ down they wanted the they they ridiculed. Christ and that is not the right response that is not the right approach they have they have disqualified themselves they’re not like this woman this woman came as an example to all of them.
▶ 19:49 Come out to me with the right attitude come to me with. Humility. Is it possible today in our lives that we are getting around Christ the way this multitude is getting. Around. Christ the healer is standing in their midst and they want him to sh show a sign or entertain. Them is it possible that we want Christ to entertain. Us is it possible that we are wanting Christ to show us a sign that we can get hyped up about or entertain. Us when really it’s not that way at.
▶ 20:49 All and God is asking us this morning will we come in and will we seek him will we reach out to him will we touch him will we overcome the obstacles will we praise him will we will we what are we coming in and doing and yes we can do all these things and still direct contact may not happen but it puts you in the room I’d rather be where Jesus is I’d rather be in the room where he’s at if nothing happens okay but at least there is an opportunity to have direct contact with. Christ and we’ve got to approach God that. Way the lifetime mark may not happen for some time just like on Pentecost it may take time but you have to keep seeking God and you got to keep approaching him the right way just like they did they came in with one accord and nothing happened for.
What does the Shunammite woman teach?
Short answer: She made room for Elisha and kept it up, and bore a son at the appointed time; her promise took time.
▶ 21:56 Days but because because they kept it up they kept seeking God they finally came in what direct contact with. God just because we’re in the crowd just because we’re in the room just because we came to church doesn’t mean we have come in direct contact. With God and it doesn’t mean that we have been. Changed in 2 Kings 4:8 there was a notable woman the Shunammite woman she fed Elisha the prophet he would come by and she would feed him she had her husband make a room for Elisha to stay in and Elisha says you’ve done this for me what can I do for you and his his servant said that she has no son and her husband is.
▶ 23:04 Old I don’t know why he mentioned. That her husband she’s got no son and her husband’s. Old and he said about this time next year she shall embrace a son she bore a son at the appointed. Time so you want to ask yourself a few questions this woman made room in her life for this prophet are you making room in your life for. God do you make room in your life in your schedule in your time for his word for getting on your knees praying to him spending time with him do you make room in your life for God in a year she is has a promise to have a son and she didn’t conceive a baby for three months because we know how long it takes for a baby to form right.
▶ 23:58 Takes nine months so for three months nothing is happening nothing is going on and her husband is old you remember that they’re getting together and he’s. Old she’s got to keep loving her old. Man before anything happens. But she kept it up and she or a son at the appointed. Time we don’t want to give up as months go by as times go by and give up on his word his word is true the law of the Lord converts the soul amen that whole proverb is so powerful and it doesn’t matter if we don’t see that it’s working today it may work tomorrow and that’s why you got to keep it up that’s why you got to keep it up in your life your own life and in this world needs to hear.
▶ 25:07 It we got to keep speaking. It because there may come a day where people become in they come in direct contact with God and when you apply it in your life maybe you don’t feel it but one day you’re going to come in direct contact and you’re going to get a lifetime change in your life that will change you for the rest of your life and some of us have had those moments that we can remember and I can remember my day my night when I was 12 years old where I had a lifetime mark touched me and it changed me it changed my perspective it changed my outlook and yeah you got to keep you got to keep uh going on the right road you got to keep that up you can’t just live off of that.
Scripture in this part
2 Kings 4:8-17 (NKJV)
Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.” And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. Then he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him. And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’ ” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.” So he said, “What then is to be done for her?” And Gehazi answered, “Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.” So he said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. Then he said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!” But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.
— 2 Kings 4:8-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 21:56What did the sinful woman bring?
Short answer: She washed and anointed Jesus’ feet; the one forgiven much loves much. What do you bring to God’s house?
▶ 26:00 Meeting but it changes. You we need a direct contact with Christ Luke 7:37 a woman who was a sinner she knew that Jesus sat at the Pharisees house so again she heard. Jesus she probably heard his teaching at some point it’s important for us to hear it’s important for us to respond she brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil she came to where Jesus was she brought oil she brought something we come into God’s house did we bring anything this. Morning when I was a a kid in children’s church what we we supposed to bring Bible notebook and pen.
▶ 26:54 In God’s house as you’re an older Christian and and you’re seeking God what can you bring this morning are you bringing your praise are you bringing uh what God has spoken to you have you are you bringing what you’ve sought God through the week with what are we bringing to God’s. House you know you don’t have to wait to come to church to address things in your life. You can grow to a place where you address those things at home and when you come to church you bring something that lifts the church. Up. Amen yeah the church can be a place where people can get healing and uh people need forgiveness and all that but you can come to grow to a place where you’ve done all that and you come into God’s house you’ve come to mount Zion this the enumeral company of angels.
▶ 27:58 The church of the firstborn living God you’ve come to God’s house and you’ve brought something so you’ve brought life you brought the fruits of the spirit you brought something to part people can partake of amen that’s what we want to grow to stood at his feet weeping washed his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head so number three she’s coming and she’s humbling. Herself she’s humbling herself before Jesus Christ and she is doing all of these things just like Zacchaeus just like the other people in these examples they heard they responded they came they humbled themselves these are the things we’ve got to do but it doesn’t mean that you’ve come in direct contact with Christ and you’ve got to keep doing these things and putting yourself in the room with Christ until he comes in contact with you.
▶ 29:00 She kissed his feet anointed them with fragrant. Oil that didn’t change her her hearing didn’t change her her bringing the oil didn’t change. Her Luke 7:39 he spoke to himself saying she is a sinner uh this is the man who invited Jesus to his house he spoke in his in his mind and he said she’s a sinner doesn’t doesn’t Jesus know this if he is a prophet he should know this and of course Jesus responds and he and there’s scriptures about how I responds and he gives them the example and Jesus said in read letters here about this woman she has washed my feet with her tears she’s wiped him with the hair of her head she has not ceased to kiss my feet since the time came in and she is God Jesus Christ is acknowledging what she has done she he’s acknowledging that what she has done is right it is an act of humility that this is the way you should approach.
▶ 30:13 Me she has anointed my feet with. Oil my feet my the ugly part of my human body she’s kissed them she’s kissed my feet she’s anointed them she’s wash. Them very very humbling we know that the religious people didn’t approach Jesus that way right oh come into my house sit down I have some questions for. You and I demand some answers. Right they didn’t approach him humbly but she did and he says here her sins which are many are forgiven for she loved much and at that moment she came into direct contact with Jesus.
▶ 31:17 Christ this woman had a lot a load of sin and he had just gave the example to this man who’s going to who’s going to forgive me who’s going to love me more the one who owes me a million dollars or the one who owes me uh $100 the one who owes me a lot of money they’re going to love me more right this woman had a load of sin on her life and when Jesus said her sins which are many are forgiven that healing came and that load was lifted off of her life and she came in direct contact. With Jesus Christ and that lifetime mark came on her and changed her for the rest of her life at least that’s the hope I hope she didn’t go home and start doing the same thing again right that would be a horrible response but the these are examples for us she had a lifetime mark change on her life in meeting Christ she showed us how to approach God but all of these things just because she did them doesn’t mean that they brought healing it came when it happened when it.
▶ 32:35 Happened and if it doesn’t happen you’ve got to keep coming before God and even after it happens you keep seeking. God and so God is asking us to morning are we making are we coming before him have we come in direct contact with Christ as the worship team. Comes have we made an effort to put ourselves in the room if you want to get struck by lightning there’s some things that you can do you can go up on a high place you can get some metal around you you can hold up a lightning rod right there’s some things you you can do you can go out in a storm where there’s lightning going on you know that you’ve got to put yourself where Christ.
Scripture in this part
Luke 7:37-47 (NKJV)
And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” So he said, “Teacher, say it.” “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

Short answer: Keep pursuing God until it happens, like the Shunammite woman and those at Pentecost.
▶ 33:38 Is and that direct contact will change you for the rest of your life 1 Corinthians chapter 2:4 again the same scripture my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom. But in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of the living. What did a member share?
Short answer: A woman shares that a scripture from Isaiah given in the late 80s came back while she prayed, and she knew He touched her.
▶ 45:00 Me. Whole. I didn’t know that this would be what Michael was preaching on today but I want to share something that happened to me this week that just goes along with what’s being preached today. And back when I was young and I was happily married I loved this scripture that was in Isaiah.
▶ 45:57 And it you can read it I won’t go into all the detail but it was talking about God’s restoration and what he knew was coming in my life and at that time I had no no idea that 20 some years later that everything that was spoken in Isaiah was spoken about me and last week I was troubled in my spirit I made my lunch and I was getting ready to sit down and I was just troubled so I went to my room and I just knelt down and I prayed and I was just seeking the Lord and he reminded me of that word that he gave me back in the late. 80s and when I read that from the scriptures I went oh God you knew you knew everything that I was going to suffer everything I was going to go through and when I read that and it was refreshed in my mind I realized you got to hang in there you have to keep seeking Jesus he touched me and it didn’t take an hour it didn’t take 20 minutes he touched me and I know I felt it in my Spirit.
▶ 47:15 That I was made complete not that I wasn’t as I was serving him in obeying and in obedience when it was hard when it was tough when it was. Painful and when you’re questioning God why did this happen to me but he shared he showed me that scripture and it revived my Spirit and he touched. Me I know he touched. Me he wants to touch you and oh what joy that fls my soul don’t give up on. Jesus. Something. Happened and now I.
