Partake of Jesus: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
This message shows how Moses and Israel’s journey picture Jesus: the Passover, the Red Sea as baptism, forty days of fasting and manna from heaven. Jesus is the true bread of life, and we must partake of him—not just hear or carry the word. Through Emmaus and the prodigal son, the speaker urges taking the whole bread, judgment and mercy alike, and letting the word give us life.
What did Israel’s rebellion teach?
Short answer: They saw his works, tempted God and did not believe, so they did not enter his rest. Joshua and Caleb entered because they accepted what God gave—manna and water from the rock—and went through tribulation without blaming God.
▶ 0:00 This morning we’re going to be talking about partaking of Jesus. And we’re going to be talking about the bread the word word of God and. last week or the week before [unclear] spoke last week week before that we talked about the rebellion Israel’s bad example that we learned about in Hebrews. They were going from Egypt to Israel and in the wilderness the Bible says that they rebelled and that people of Israel it says in the scriptures according to Hebrews they saw his works they tempted God they did not believe and therefore did not enter his rest and they didn’t enter his rest because they it says in Hebrews they sinned they rejected it they were there right at the cusp they were there right at the border of the land and they wouldn’t believe the good report about the land they were afraid to fight against the children of Anak.
▶ 1:12 They were afraid. And how to apply it and how it applies to our lives we. Got to go through tribulation without blaming God and be like Joshua and Caleb who entered his rest there were two guys that they waited 40 years in the wilderness there’s two guys Joshua and Caleb were able to go into the promised land because of their behavior because they when when when God said here’s manna they ate the manna they were they accepted it when God gave them water from the rock they didn’t say where’s my kool-aid they accepted it what God gave them and these guys.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 3:9-19 (NKJV)
Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ” Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
— Hebrews 3:9-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:46 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What do the Passover and Red Sea picture?
Short answer: The Passover is like the blood of Jesus; walking through the Red Sea is like water baptism, which separates us from Egypt—the kingdom of darkness. Don’t throw water baptism out.
▶ 2:04 They did a good job the blood of Jesus Christ we learned about the Passover is like the blood of Jesus then walking through the red sea we learned it’s like water baptism is so important we throw water baptism out yet in the Old Testament it’s there in the New Testament Jesus did it himself but we can’t throw that out we want to create that distance between us and Egypt between us and the kingdom of darkness that water baptism it starts that separation to where you’re not you’re not focused on not sinning anymore you’re focused on getting to the promised land now there’s this big gap you know the oceans not easy to pass. Holy Spirit baptism the word.
How is Moses like Jesus?
Short answer: Acts 7:37: God will send you a prophet like me. Stephen preached this to the leaders before they killed him; Moses was speaking of Jesus Christ.
▶ 2:59 We learned all about that last week. They saw God’s works they saw him the 10 plagues they saw they saw the water in Egypt turn to blood they saw the flies the frogs everything they saw this stuff today we’re going to be talking about how Moses is like Jesus as we have learned in the past and the word of God in acts chapter 7 verse 37 it says this is that Moses who told the Israelites God will send you a prophet like me from your own people now Stephen is talking to the Sanhedrin he’s talking to the Jewish priests he’s talking to the Pharisees he’s talking to the leaders and the leaders there are mad at Stephen they’re mad at him because he’s speaking he’s preaching the gospel he’s doing signs and wonders Stephen and they brought him before him and Stephen starts to give him this big message and at the end of the message they killed him but during this message Stephen is really illuminating the Old Testament and he said God will send you a prophet like me and this is Moses stephens talking about Moses Moses is talking about the profit which is Jesus Christ who will
Scripture in this part
Acts 7:37 (NKJV)
“This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’
— Acts 7:37 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:29How does the Red Sea relate to baptism?
Short answer: Exodus 14:22 and 1 Corinthians 10:1–5: our fathers passed through the sea and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. Jesus too was baptized (Matthew 3:16) as our example.
▶ 4:30 be like Moses and when we look in the Old Testament there’s some things that Moses did that Jesus also did Exodus 14:22 Moses and all Israel walked through the red sea on dry ground first Corinthians 10 1 through 5 it says our fathers passed through the red sea and all were baptized into Moses and in the cloud and in the sea now like I said before water baptism it’s important God illustrates it back in the Old Testament back when Israel was delivered from Egypt they went through the red sea I mean it’s all there and we throw this stuff out you can’t throw that stuff out. It’s important God is reiterating things he’s revealing things he’s saying how important it is.
Scripture in this part
Exodus 14:22 (NKJV)
So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
— Exodus 14:22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:381 Corinthians 10:1-5 (NKJV)
Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
— 1 Corinthians 10:1-5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:46Matthew 3:16 (NKJV)
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
— Matthew 3:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:25What parallel is there in fasting?
Short answer: Exodus 34:28: Moses was with the Lord forty days and nights without bread or water. After his baptism Jesus fasted forty days and was hungry (Matthew 4:2).
▶ 5:26 Jesus Matthew 3 verse 16 he was baptized and he went up out of the water it says [unclear] he went to John the Baptist and he said. John baptize me John said what me baptize you did you said yes so that everything can be fulfilled Jesus Christ is our example we were supposed to get water baptized. Did Jesus really need to get water baptized probably not he is baptism he doesn’t need anything he is the awesome one but he did it for us Exodus 34:28 he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights now Moses had gone up to the mountain and says he was there forty days and forty nights and he left the people that he was traveling with the Israelites he left them and he went up to the mountain and he was with him forty days and forty nights and he did not eat bread or drink water but he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant the ten commandments now Matthew 4:2 says
Scripture in this part
Exodus 34:28 (NKJV)
So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
— Exodus 34:28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:00Matthew 4:2 (NKJV)
And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
— Matthew 4:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:26Why did God let Israel hunger?
Short answer: Deuteronomy 8:3: he humbled you, let you hunger and fed you with manna, that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God. Jesus quoted it to the devil (Matthew 4:3–4).
▶ 6:36 That Jesus fasted forty days Jesus Christ got up out of the water when he was baptized went into the wilderness and fasted now this is just like what Israel did. They got through the red sea and Moses goes up to the mountain and he starts sitting before God and I don’t even know if he knew he hadn’t eaten in a long time we don’t know but he Moses fasted and God repeats what had been done and he fasted 40 days and 40 nights and it says afterward he was hungry and this is what I really want to talk about. Coming up here the word of God in Deuteronomy 8 verse 3 says so he humbled you allowed you to hunger and fed you with that wonderful manna.
▶ 7:34 brought some with me today you can get manna today can you believe that I’m just kidding this is [unclear]. He humbled you allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna I. Don’t want to say too much I think I just save it for later which you did not know nor did your fathers know that he might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone God says with so many times and I’m always thinking what is he talking about man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4 verse 3 the Devil is tempting Jesus and the Devil says to Jesus command that these stones become bread why is he saying this because Jesus is hungry.
▶ 8:31 And he answered and said it is written man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of [unclear] Jesus Christ is always quoting the Old Testament you guys got to remember that you know the same God and the Old Testament is the one in the New Testament he’s always quoting the Old Testament and then we say Jesus he didn’t mention this sin well you know what he always quoted the Old Testament he agrees with the Old Testament he didn’t throw it out. getting back to when he’s saying man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth and I forgot see this same thing he is quoting that happened to Moses and that’s what we’re going to get into right now this bread a new Testament.
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV)
So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.
— Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:20Matthew 4:3-4 (NKJV)
Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
— Matthew 4:3-4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:15What is the true bread from heaven?
Short answer: John 6:32–35: my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. “I am the bread I am the bread of life and he who comes to me shall never hunger.” The manna in the wilderness is an illustration of Jesus.
▶ 9:27 John 6 verse 32 then Jesus said to them Moses did not give you the bread from heaven but my father gives you the true bread for the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world the manna if you don’t remember was like dew on the ground okay and it came from heaven and God in all that illustration of Israel going to have to get going and having to get the manna the manna is on the outskirts of the camp they have to they have to get up they have to do something and the man is out there and it’s not a you know like a store you go pick [unclear] you start eating it it’s a little pieces okay. It’s not it’s not all ready to go. And here.
▶ 10:20 Jesus is saying Moses. Did not give you the bread my father gave you the bread and really the bread then they said to him Lord give us this bread always and then he shocks them with this statement Jesus said I am the bread I am the bread of life and he who comes to me shall never hunger and he who believes in me shall never thirst but I said to you that you have seen me and yet you do not believe John chapter 6 verse 51 Jesus said to them I am the living bread which came down from heaven see Jesus is making it plain the illustration of manna in the wilderness is an illustration of Jesus Jesus is being sent I am the bread which has been sent from heaven by God by the father.
Scripture in this part
John 6:32-35 (NKJV)
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
— John 6:32-35 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 9:27John 6:51 (NKJV)
I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
— John 6:51 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:51What does it mean to eat his flesh?
Short answer: John 6:53–56: unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you have no life; he who eats abides in me. Like food, his word must get inside us to nourish us.
▶ 11:15 It’s not. This is important Jesus is you got to go after Jesus I say a hundred times and children’s church the answer half of the time is always Jesus when they ask you a question in children’s church who is this what is this I would just raise my hand and say Jesus and I would get my candy. But it’s true Jesus is so many things in this case he is the bread you know it’s not just the word in John 1:1 it says that he is the word the word became flesh. We’ve got to pursue this man Jesus. Then Jesus said most assuredly I say to you unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood you have no life in you.
▶ 12:20 Now I’ve kept this bread with me all morning but I have not had any [unclear] I carried it with me [unclear] I’ll probably have it at my house later today but it’s not in me hasn’t been opened. And I’ll get into that later but I’m just kidding you’re getting our minds ready John 6:54 whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life now are we actually eating his flesh did they go up to Jesus and bite off his arm then they go to his blood and drinks but no ok. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up in the last day. John 6:56 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him okay now he’s making it like food you eat the bread he’s saying you abide in me and I am in you yeah you’re in me because I just ate you right when you think about food I’ve consumed it it’s in my body and everything that we eat has some nourishment right when you eat vegetables when you eat steak ice cream maybe not ice cream.
Scripture in this part
John 6:53 (NKJV)
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
— John 6:53 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:10 (quoted; reference not named in the message)John 6:54 (NKJV)
Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
— John 6:54 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:20John 6:56 (NKJV)
He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
— John 6:56 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:09Is hearing the word the same as partaking?
Short answer: No. Carrying a Bible or hearing it on the radio isn’t eating it; an atheist can have and hear the Bible without partaking. It’s easy for Christians to be satisfied just having it around.
▶ 13:47 There’s some nourishment. So bread bread doesn’t enter your ear I can’t get it in here. Bread enters the mouth. It’s you you chew it and you swallow it and the stomach breaks it down as you know and disperses it to the body for nourishment and Jesus sent his word we’ve got to partake of the word. There’s a difference when you go to church and we carry our Bible we go home we have our Bible at the house there is a difference when you hear it on the radio you hear the word or you hear it straight there is a difference between hearing it getting it in the air and there’s a difference between [unclear] eating it there’s a difference.
▶ 14:47 and I’ll make it very clear an atheist can have I was I was doing a study one time on Ezekiel and I went online and I looked it up you know and there was this person from a college that had given you a summary of Ezekiel they had given a summary now how many know they’re not going to know they’re only going to have mental understanding of what the scriptures are talking about they don’t know God they don’t know how to eat they just are regurgitating what they’re reading right. An atheist can have a Bible he can hear the Bible he can carry the Bible he can do all these things but would you say that he has eaten the word would you say that he’s eaten Jesus that would you say that he’s partaken no.
What happened on the road to Emmaus?
Short answer: Luke 24:13–27: Jesus walked with two disciples who didn’t recognize him and expounded from Moses and all the prophets the things concerning himself.
▶ 15:46 Now if he just wants to hear it so that it you know he can. Know what it says it doesn’t mean he has partaken. And it is very easy as Christians today to just be satisfied with having the spiritual bread around you with you and hearing it but not partaking it. We’re going to read a story from. After Jesus rose from the grave in Luke 24 verse 13 there were two people traveling to Emmaus and Jesus had just risen from the dead but nobody knew he had risen yet and these guys were going 7 miles they were walking seven miles from Jerusalem to Emmaus and they walked together and all these things they talked together of all the things that were going on Jesus had just died on the cross Jesus had just been buried and they’re talking about everything happening so it was while they conversed and reason that Jesus himself drew near and went with them.
▶ 16:59 But their eyes were restrained so that they did not know who he was see Jesus was right there and they didn’t know who he was and Jesus says then what kind of what kind of conversation is this that you’re having what are you guys talking about what are you guys talking about. And as you walk and are sad you guys are sad you’re not happy what are you guys talking about. Luke 24:18 today is the third day since all these things that happen and certain women said that he was alive and certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said but him they did not see and Jesus [unclear] oh foolish ones slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken ought not the Christ to suffer these things and to enter his glory and beginning at Moses and all the prophets he expounded to them and all the scriptures and the things concerning himself and so this guy they don’t know who he is is explaining expounding all all of the Old Testament and they don’t know that it’s Jesus interesting.
Scripture in this part
Luke 24:13 (NKJV)
Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem.
— Luke 24:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:22Luke 24:25-27 (NKJV)
Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
— Luke 24:25-27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:49 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How were their eyes opened?
Short answer: Luke 24:29–32: they constrained him, “abide with us”; he took bread, blessed and broke it, their eyes were opened, and they said did not our heart burn within us?
▶ 18:22 And so they drew near to the village where they were going and he indicated that he would have to go further and they what they constrained him. they [unclear] thank you so much wait no no no no no no no you got to you got to come with us you can’t keep going I don’t care if your wife’s having a baby you’re staying with us they constrained him thank you very much saying abide with us abide and he went in to stay with them. Jesus went in to stay with him and let me finish the story here and he took bread he took bread it’s funny how they invited him and he took the bread and he broke it he blessed it and broke it and gave it to them now he’s the guest right they asked him to come he’s the guest and he served in the bread interesting then their eyes were open and they knew him and he vanished from their sight and they said to one another did not our heart burn within us while he talked with us on the road and he opened up the scriptures to us.
Scripture in this part
Luke 24:29-32 (NKJV)
But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
— Luke 24:29-32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 18:59 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Is having the word enough?
Short answer: There is a difference between having the word in your life and the word giving you life. Your spiritual man must be kept alive; he recalls a young man in youth group convicted by Jesus who wouldn’t yield.
▶ 19:58 And this morning I just want to remind us that there’s a difference between having the word and our lives and the word giving us life. Teenagers there’s a big difference in your life between. Having this in your life having it available and letting it give you life at some point in your christianity you’ve got to lean on the word of God to give you life. You’ve got to lean on Jesus Christ to give you life Jesus was here this morning did you experience did you get some Jesus juice. To live and I’m not talking about your natural body I’m talking about your spiritual body your spiritual man that’s going to live forever and you got to keep that man alive because it’s going to stand before God and it.
▶ 20:59 Says he opened up the scriptures to us he broke the bread did not our hearts burn within us as he opened up the scriptures it’s just plain simple bread. Now have I eaten it yet. Now God has opened it up he’s done all these things you know I remember as a young person you know we would go to youth we would have teen a teen night youth night I don’t what do we call it teens teen group what we call it youth [unclear] in Carbon Canyon and we would pray before the service began a few minutes and for 30 minutes I can’t remember how many minutes before but one night there was a young man there and he wasn’t exactly you know a follower of God I don’t know I can’t remember but you know he wasn’t doing what was right and so he decided to get in our circle I don’t know why but we started started praying for him and he starts to you know [unclear] his head like this bow his head like this because God Jesus.
▶ 22:18 Was coming and convicting him making him cry he didn’t want to cry in front of everybody he didn’t like to cry crying is uncool. And God was working him over but he would not [unclear] Jesus Christ see it’s not just the word Jesus came to this young man he said here have some of me I’m real this morning Jesus is real. You know you could you could partake of him all that you wanted this morning is powerful you didn’t have to guess is God alive is God real he was here.
Can we take only the parts of Jesus we like?
Short answer: No. Bread needs both water and flour; Jesus is a package deal—his love and mercy, but also his judgment, rules and self-control. Don’t trim off the sin you want to keep. Give us this day our daily bread.
▶ 23:18 He’s real this bread you just can’t see him and much better than this bread [unclear] something important these guys see they could have they could have. Felt Jesus burning on their hearts they could have felt all these things and said see you later this guy’s weirdo just keep going [unclear] goodbye. Get him out the door they could have rejected it right. But they accepted it and we can reject it or we can accept it but what I want to talk about right now is this bread this bread bread normally is very simple there are very simple ingredients when it comes to bread I looked them up you know I had to look them up because I didn’t know you have flour you have water oil.
▶ 24:18 And salt and maybe some sugar sugar and you see if you take yeah you’re right yeast but you know with Jesus I don’t want to get into the I’m not talking about the yeast and the no yeast right now the unleavened bread and leaven bread we’re not going there okay we don’t want to get into that. But you see if you take out the water you can’t make dough. If you take out the flour you’re just kind of salt water and oil can you make bread with it. If you take out the salt you’re not going to have some flavor you might get something but really it’s the water and the flour you can’t take out those two things they are essential you see people today you want to take the water like the life but you want you don’t want to take the flour.
▶ 25:19 Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so I want his love I love his love I love his mercy I love his presence but his. Judgment. His. Rules. You know the father has some rules. We want the miracles of Jesus Christ but we don’t want the self-control you know there’s there’s a balance to every part when Jesus comes to your life and he come to you he’s a package deal the manna came you’ve got to take the whole thing you can’t just take part of it you can’t just take part of the bread when you eat it you have to take the whole thing with Jesus you can’t trim off things that you don’t want you have to take the whole part.
▶ 26:19 and that’s what Americans are do Christians are doing today you trim off the sin that you know the sin that you want to keep in your life you trim that part of the word off you say I don’t want that ingredient. You can’t do that. You got to have the whole thing otherwise you’re going to be missing out on this simple thing that will give you life it’ll go inside of you you can live off of it Jesus Christ he will give you life as your spirit life. That prayer says give us this day our daily. Bread. That bread includes the judgment and it includes the mercy the bread includes the life and it includes the other parts it includes the requirements of self-control and love it’s all there you got to take the whole thing while we were worshiping I was thinking about how.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 6:11 (NKJV)
Give us this day our daily bread.
— Matthew 6:11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:00 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How do we find God?
Short answer: Like digging for a diamond, you must search—lifting hands, singing, shouting, rejoicing and dancing are tools for pressing in.
▶ 27:26 Jesus Christ is like a diamond and you have to go on to the earth and you got to go get it you’ve got to dig up the coal and you’ve got to find it you know I was talking to somebody recently and he was telling me that I can’t find God I can’t I can’t get to him he’s hard he’s playing hard to get. But you got to go searching friends this morning he was here and some of us may not have touched God but if you would pursue you would have found that diamond if you were using the tools that it takes to dig up the ground to crush the coal that are we have tools lifting up our hands worshiping God opening up our mouth singing shouting rejoicing dancing all those things you are digging.
What does the prodigal son teach?
Short answer: Luke 15:17–18: he came to his senses—my father’s servants have bread to spare—and went back. If you don’t partake you have no life; be a doer of the word, not only a hearer.
▶ 28:19 You’re pressing in to find that piece of value and if you don’t do those things you’re not going to find that wonderful piece of value as a young person when I first experienced Jesus Christ I would experience him every day but that went away over time why because we have to pursue we have to go after the value we have to use the tools that it takes to dig up the ground to get to the coal to break open the coal oh that’s not it let’s go the next thing and you know you don’t find just diamonds anywhere. You don’t find precious gems anywhere you’ve got to go searching amen amen. Lastly I want to talk about the prodigal son and he gives a very interesting statement in Luke chapter 15 verse 17 it says that he was out there the famine had come there was no bread there was no food food was scarce in this guy he had spent all of his money and he had to go work for a man in the field and he had to clean up after the pigs.
▶ 29:41 And it says that he came to his senses and it says when he came to his senses he said how many of my father’s hired servants have bread to spare and here I am starving to death. See this young man he rejected the bread he rejected his father’s house rejected the bread of life. He had relatives he knew people maybe he had some bread with him carried it with him but it didn’t matter. There was a famine in the land and he is trying to find where can I get this bread he came to his senses. Father I have sinned against heaven and against you I’m no longer worthy to be called it says he said I will go out go back to my father and say to him father I have sinned against heaven and against you and so he got up and went to his father.
▶ 30:49 We have to partake of the bread you. Can hear the word as a young person I was there in youth group I was there listening to [unclear] preach I could have just tuned him out I could have rejected it you can go home and you can just do play games you can you can maybe focus on your financial future your career and you can just tune God right out of everything as a parent we have some parents in here you can tune God out those kids are a lot of work you can tune God out. You can keep them out but you’ve got to partake if you don’t partake Jesus said you have no life in you and if you’re walking around and you don’t have life in you I talked to some recently I don’t have life in me that’s what he’s telling me you’re not partaking.

Say no I’m going to listen to Jesus in his word I’m going to reject sin I’m going to reject the things that he says to reject and I’m going to pursue him.

About this transcript
This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: Delivered by a speaker other than Pastor Kincer (likely Michael Silla—confirm). Points to check: “happy 4:2” = Matthew 4:2; “1 Corinthians 10 1 verse 5” read as 10:1–5; Moses’ forty days placed right after the Red Sea; “Did Jesus really need to get water baptized probably not he is baptism.” Sensitive content: none notable.
