From the sermonMy Faith: The Source of Deception · Pastor David G. Kincer▶ 0:00

Pastor David G. Kincer opens “my faith” language from Revelation 2:13 and James 2:18, contrasts Christ’s faith with celebrities and politicians who invent their own beliefs, and teaches that the source of deception is not knowing God. From John 14, Jeremiah 4:22, John 8 and John 17:3 he shows eternal life is knowing the Father and Jesus, not merely believing about them.

How often does the Bible use the words “my faith”?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: He says after hearing presidential candidates say “I believe” and “my faith” over and over, God challenged him to count those phrases. “My faith” is used only twice in the Bible, and “I believe” five times, mostly about believing in Jesus or that he can do a miracle—not about inventing your own beliefs.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:00 We’re going to go to Revelation chapter 2 verse 13 to start with. Revelation chapter 2 verse 13 last book of the Bible easy one to find Genesis and Revelation, they’re easy. As you probably know after watching the news and listening to presidential candidates talk and so forth that the term I believe is said over and over and over and the term my faith my faith my faith my faith is said over and over and over so God challenged me while I was reading the Bible and he said you know you need to find out how many times I used the word my faith I thought well that’s pretty good idea and searching.

▶ 0:52 The Bible it’s only used twice. “My faith” statement is only used twice and yet people use it over and over and over to justify their speech and their actions their behavior “I believe” is used five times in the Bible and three of those is I believe in Jesus I believe he’s the son of God I believe in Jesus died for the sins of the world and so forth and two of them is I believe that you Jesus can do a miracle okay it’s got nothing to do with I believe what I believe he’s got to do with my faith is my faith. So that was interesting to me and so I the scriptures God gave me Revelations will start with Revelations 213 the first time my faith is used to the church of Pergamos.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Revelation 2:13 (NKJV)

“I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

— Revelation 2:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:52

What does “my faith” mean in Revelation 2:13?

▶ Watch this part (1:50)

Short answer: To the church of Pergamos Jesus said “you did not deny my faith.” He says here it is not an individual’s faith but Christ’s faith—Christ’s persuasion. Believers should have the faith of Jesus Christ, not their own, and need a standard so they believe right.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 1:50 Jesus said you did not deny my faith so here it’s not an individual’s faith it’s. Christ faith faith means persuasion you did not deny my persuasion what I told you to be persuaded of you never renounced it you never denied it you never disowned it and so here my faith is the faith of Jesus Christ how many know we should have the faith of Jesus Christ not our own faith there’s a big difference I cannot follow my own persuasion I need a guide I need a standard to measure what I’m supposed to believe so that I believe right and my faith is in the right thing you agree so far yeah.

— Revelation 2:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:53 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

What does James mean by “I will show you my faith by my works”?

▶ Watch this part (2:47)

Short answer: In James 2:18 the apostle addresses people who say they have faith but live as they want: “I will show you my faith by my works.” He says our faith should be Christ’s faith, and our speech and behavior should back up what Christ told us to trust.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 2:47 Now the second time my faith is used in James just a couple of books back. James chapter 2 verse 18. The apostle James is going to use this statement. When he is trying to address people that say they have faith in God but they live the way they want and uh and so James have made this statement the apostle in James chapter 2 verse 18 I will show you my faith by my works and so.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

James 2:18 (NKJV)

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

— James 2:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:47

Can someone use “my faith” to excuse living against the Bible?

▶ Watch this part (3:27)

Short answer: He says when people say “my faith” to give themselves permission to live in opposition to the Bible, that is their faith, not the faith of Christ or the truth of the Bible. Belief and faith have to line up with his belief and his truth.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:27 Our faith should be the faith of Christ and our speech and our behavior should back up the speech and the behavior that Christ told us to have faith in can I hear an amen on that that’s really simple and so when people say my faith and they they give themselves permission to live in opposition to the Bible it is that it is their faith it is not the faith of Christ it’s not the truth of the Bible it’s what they want to believe and we don’t have the right to say well I believe this or my faith says that our belief has got to line up to his belief and our faith has got to line up to his truth alright.

What did famous leaders say about “my faith,” and how does he answer?

▶ Watch this part (4:21)

Short answer: He illustrates with President Bush saying the Bible is not literal and that all religions lead to the same God; Obama saying the Bible approves slavery and homosexual lifestyles and calling Romans 1 vague; Romney following Joseph Smith; Bill Maher saying the Bible was written by men and rewriting Sodom; and Oprah saying all roads lead to the same God while living in open adultery. He says those are their faith, not Christ’s, and the Bible never calls itself a book of faith but a book of truth.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 4:21 So faith is known by our behavior whether it’s Jesus’ faith or whether it’s our faith now I’m going to give you some illustrations of people I heard using the words my faith and I believe and they’re very famous people president Bush said. the Bible is not literal or not truth and he said that after he left the presidency and I voted for that guy and if he would have said this before I would have challenged him all right that goes against Bible and Bush also said all roads lead all Christians all really I’m sorry all religions lead to the same God so thus into the Muslims the Hindus.

▶ 5:16 And all the rest they’re all the same God all right that was his faith I believe my faith that’s his faith it’s not Christ faith and they always say the Bible is a book of faith nowhere in the Bible does it say the Bible is a book of faith no more the Bible says that the Bible is a book of truth there’s a big difference our faith should be in his truth his facts all right but we just accept these terms thing we just hear them and we just accept them and it is ruining us and our nation and the church Obama he said I believe the Bible approves of slavery I wrote him and I said how can you say the Bible approves of slavery when the Bible says you will be executed if you kidnap a person you have to forcefully take somebody and force them into slavery I said you’ve got your your.

▶ 6:30 Scriptures all mixed up here the Bible never approves of slavery but people hear it and they go “the Bible approves slavery” because President Obama said so. President Obama is also the one that says the Bible. Approves of homosexual lifestyles. And. quoted Romans 1, said it’s a vague chapter that very clearly says it’s wrong. Nothing vague about Romans 1 this is Obama the president these are renowned people but my faith I believe my faith I believe and everybody uses the terms to justify their speech Romney he follows a religion Joseph Smith that had sex with other men’s wives.

▶ 7:32 There’s something wrong there that’s not normal I wouldn’t want to be in a religion where the leader of the church can come in have sex with my wife and say the Bible approves of it that’s just not common sense is it I got kids come on that’s confusion just common sense tells you what that’s confusion but his faith allows that see. Bill Maher the comedian. Says the Bible was written by men the Bible doesn’t say it was written by men the Bible says it was written by them by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit they were guided by the Holy Spirit to put in the book what God said the put in you can’t go to the book and turn the book around and he also said that Sodom and Gomorrah was sin was a hospitality they didn’t have hospitality so God smote them because they mistreated that the angels that came and didn’t they on and so God smote him that’s a big lie the Bible plainly says in Genesis that Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked and evil above all nation they were very sinful people and one of those sins was homosexuality.

▶ 8:59 Oprah Winfrey said all roads lead to the same God you call your God Jesus these people call their God Allah, that’s right I got the video of it whatever you call them it’s all right it will all go into the same place and then her faith she can live in open adultery with a man for like the last 10 or 18 years and she just when she wants sex she just goes with that guy and they hook up and ba ba ba and it’s a known fact they see that’s her faith that’s what she believes that isn’t what the Bible says to believe. And. These are things I get when I read the Bible so I thought I would just pass them on to you read the Bible and I read a lot of other stuff too. Now. You know Oprah and these guys say that homosexuals were born that way and homosexual activists the Bible didn’t say they were born that way they say God created them that way that doesn’t make it true the Bible doesn’t say that God made them that way now what is the source of these people’s deception this is deception.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Romans 1:26-27 (NKJV)

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Scripture (NKJV)

Genesis 19:4-5 (NKJV)

Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.”

— Genesis 19:4-5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:28 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

What is the source of these people’s deception?

▶ Watch this part (10:15)

Short answer: He says deception is subtle diversion from truth. He lists atheists, those who deny the virgin birth or hell, religionists with idols, hedonists, liberals who will not call crime wrong, humanists, and evolutionists without proof. Many Christian believers embrace this nonsense. God showed him these people believe in God, the Bible and Jesus as a person but do not know him, so they invent their own faith.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 10:15 Deception isn’t a blatant lie deception is just a subtle thing that diverts you from truth you don’t actually and I just it’s just subtle yeah sounds real good but it’s not truth what is the source of these people deception along with atheists who say there is no God homosexuals who say they were born that way religionists. Who can say Jesus wasn’t born of a virgin when the Bible plainly says he was that there’s no hell when the Bible plainly says there was I. Mean religion is just you know that you can work you know you can use idols saint Christopher you know Saint Mary and all this when the Bible plainly says no idols that’s religion is they just make up their own little beliefs their own little faith and they stick by it and then.

▶ 11:11 You got the hedonist that eat drink and be merry and I get drunk take drugs have sex as much as you can just you know that’s it because after you’re dead you can’t enjoy life anymore it’s over hedonist and then you got the liberals. Who don’t want to punish anybody they don’t want any about any crime being wrong they want a new tolerance where everybody’s of what they believe is right is right that’s the liberals and they got a lot more than that and they say I believe that’s what they believe are their faith and then you got the humanist you know who says that religion is outmoded Christianity is outmoded and they’re coming in with the new religion of humanism.

▶ 12:05 And then you got the evolutionists who say that God didn’t create the earth in seven days and they never give any actual proof it’s all a lot of words and no actual evidence but they got most of Americans believing that they got proof and they have none. And the sad thing is many Christian believers. Embrace a lot of this nonsense what is the source of this why do they do this why do they say my faith and I believe when it totally disagrees with this Bible I. Ask God that I said how can these people do that and say they’re Christians and God showed me in the Bible that these people do not know God they believe in God they believe in the Bible as a book they believe in Jesus as a person but they don’t know him and this is what this studies about knowing God and so when you don’t know God you devise your own faith and belief system.

Why do people who say they believe in Jesus still live contrary to the Bible?

▶ Watch this part (13:22)

Short answer: From John 17:25 he says the world has not known the Father. The reason they have their own belief and behavior contrary to the Bible is they do not know God. Knowing God is what this study is about.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:22 You’re free to say what believe in Jesus and I believe in shacking up you know he’s a great God and he wouldn’t you know he understands my needs and that’s what I hear I. Can get drunk I can take drugs and I’m going to I believe in Jesus I’m going to heaven and God just says they just don’t know me and so in John 17:25 if you go there with me I want to show you scripturally that they don’t know God the reason they have their own belief their own faith and a behavior that’s contrary to the Bible is they don’t know God. John 17:25.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 17:25 (NKJV)

O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.

— John 17:25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:50

Who can receive the Spirit of truth, the Comforter?

▶ Watch this part (14:17)

Short answer: From John 14:16 he says the Father sends another Comforter, the Spirit of truth. The Holy Spirit never lies or deviates from Christ and the word. The world cannot receive him because it neither sees him nor knows him. He says “unconditional love” is not in the Bible—there is a condition: repent—and the baptism of the Holy Spirit requires knowing him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 14:17 Here’s Jesus talking and he’s talking to the father and he said father the world has not known you the earth inhabitants have not what known you hmm and in. John 14:16 just a couple chapters back. Jesus said the father is going to send you another comforter.

▶ 14:51 The spirit of truth okay. It is the big fight in America about the baptism of the Holy Ghost he’s talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit being filled with the Holy Spirit here okay another comforter another and he calls it the spirit of what truth yeah the Bible is not just truth but the spirit the Holy Spirit is a spirit of truth that the Holy Spirit never lies and never deceives and it never deviates from Christ in the word and when we say we’re speaking by the spirit and we go contrary to the Bible we are not speaking by the spirit we’re talking from our own faith and our own belief and just putting a title on it the world can’t receive it the inhabitants of the earth can’t receive it it neither sees him nor knows him now you’ve heard this statement you know unconditional love well you know that’s just not in the Bible there is a condition for God’s that you got to repent you got to be wrong but there’s a condition.

▶ 16:04 Then he will forgive you then he will give you eternal life here the Holy Ghost this comforter this this experience of God that is coming the comforter the baptism of the Holy Ghost has a requirement you’ve got to know him. In that what he says he says they can’t have the comforter they can’t have the baptism of the Holy Spirit because they don’t see God and they don’t know God and so this knowing gets all of a sudden it gets very important doesn’t it all right. Jeremiah 4:22.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 14:16-17 (NKJV)

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

— John 14:16-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:36

Why does God call his people foolish in Jeremiah 4:22?

▶ Watch this part (16:57)

Short answer: He reads Jeremiah 4:22, “My people are foolish… they have not known me.” Those who love and believe in Jesus are his people, yet God calls them foolish when they believe in him but do not know him. Believers need to go on from repentance, water baptism and Spirit baptism to know God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 16:57 And going to the Old Testament this is a sad statement and Jeremiah 4:22. My people are foolish. How many here love Jesus believe in Jesus I see your hand okay that makes you his people and here he calls you a fool. Why does he call you a fool because they have not known me they believe in me but they don’t know me. So do we need to go on from repentance. Forgiveness. Water baptism Holy Spirit baptism and so far do we need to go on and know God yeah and when we don’t God calls us what.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Jeremiah 4:22 (NKJV)

“For My people are foolish, They have not known Me. They are silly children, And they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, But to do good they have no knowledge.”

— Jeremiah 4:22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:57

What does it mean to “know” God?

▶ Watch this part (17:52)

Short answer: From John 8:54–55 Jesus tells religionists who say the Father is their God that they have not known him. Knowing God results in keeping his word. He says “know” in Scripture is used for intimate relationship (Numbers 31:18; Matthew 1:25)—standing before God spiritually exposed, not Mormon nonsense. Matthew 7:23 shows miracle workers told “I never knew you.”

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:52 What does he call them? Foolish you’re a foolish people and it sounds like God talking, “No, stupid” yeah yeah I got it a stupid. And John chapter 8 verse 54 Jesus is talking to the Jews he’s talking to those who believe in him who believed that the scriptures of the word of God who have faith all right he’s talking to them and he says you’re religionists you you you people you Jews you say the father is your God you say it just like Bush and Oprah and all these guys say these things. Yet you’ve not known him you say he’s your God you don’t know him. But I know him Jesus said I know the father.

▶ 18:50 If I said I didn’t know him I’d be a liar like you you’re lying saying you believe in God and you don’t even know him I would lie I would be lying if I said I didn’t know him cuz I know him and listen to this. I’d be a liar like you if I said I didn’t know him but I do know him and what is the result of knowing him keep his word said keep his word did Jesus keep the word of God it is a result of what knowing God. You want to please God by keeping his word. No. Just so you know I’ve taught this for years but I just want to remind you in Numbers 31:38 women that have not known a man by lying with him or having sex with him keep in mind the word “know”; “known” is used as an intimate sexual relationship all through the Bible.

▶ 20:08 So when God says you don’t know me what is he saying you haven’t had an intimate personal. Encounter with me. Because when two people get married they bear all they stand before each other naked and see people that don’t know God they haven’t stood before God naked spiritually now none of this mormon nonsense we’re talking about. We’re talking about spiritually you expose your heart you expose your attitude you expose yourself to God and all the flaws are exposed and who you are. You know each other you actually know each other physically.

▶ 21:00 Attitude behavior character. And. It’s used again in Matthew 1:25 Joseph knew not Mary did not have sex with mary until Jesus was born ok. See is it that’s the word used and remember that famous scripture in Matthew 7:23. Lord we prophesied in your name we cast out devils in your name we did many miracles in your name and Jesus said what depart from me I never knew you you didn’t know me and folks being able to preach the Bible speak and preach and prophecy being able to pray for people and people get healed and then able to cast out demons which I have experienced in my travels.

Is miracle power proof of God’s approval on a leader?

▶ Watch this part (21:58)

Short answer: He says he has seen miracles and deliverance through leaders who were sexually immoral and taking money from the poor; they claimed healings proved God’s approval. He answered that is God’s love—the word works even through them—not approval. Israel in the wilderness had miracles and still did not know or obey God; approval is when you live right.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 21:58 God doing miracles God casting out demons through leaders who were having sex with the women of the church and taking graft of the money living high on the hog for these poor africans or poor asians or poor south Americans we’re starving but they had to pay their money and these guys are living high on the hog and when I tried to correct these leaders they said listen it’s okay because look at the evidence people are getting healed demons are being cast out people are getting saved I said that is not God’s approval that’s God’s love the word works God loves people when they come even through idiots like you. God will meet with them. That is no proof and I told him look at Israel in the wilderness they had the miracles they had the fire by night the cloud by day they had the voice of God and everything else and yet they didn’t know God and they didn’t obey him see God’s presence and his word and his voice is not his approval.

What is eternal life according to Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (23:16)

Short answer: From John 3:16 he once thought everlasting life only meant living with God forever, but God showed him everyone is already born into eternity. In John 17:3 Jesus defines eternal life: knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he sent—an intimate relationship of knowing each other’s character.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 23:16 His approval is when you live right that was a good place for an amen. See. Hallelujah. So in John three sixteen this famous scripture. Most of us know this in the heart for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him shall not what perish but have everlasting life have what ever lasting life and for years I just thought that was living with God for eternity holy I wanted to live for eternity one day God had to wake me up and said son when you were born you were born into eternity.

▶ 24:13 And I go well duh that was right that’s true I mean oh the spirit goes on living. Who are you believe in God and accept Christ or not you’re in an eternal future you’re going to go on forever your spirits going to live forever but eternal life is being able to live with Jesus forever but that’s just one side of eternal life if you go to John 17:3 Jesus defines eternal life plainly defines it plainly says what eternal life is okay John 17:3 this is eternal life this is Jesus talking that they may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent.

Can you serve in God’s house and still not know the Lord?

▶ Watch this part (25:05)

Short answer: From 1 Samuel 3:7, Samuel was raised in the house of God under Eli yet “did not yet know the Lord,” neither was the word of the Lord revealed to him. Confession and repentance alone do not mean you know the Bible until he reveals it. In John 14:8 Philip had walked with Jesus three years with miracles and still asked to see the Father; Jesus said he had not known him. The American church depends on faith talk but misses knowing God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:05 Eternal life is what. Knowing God and Jesus. Knowing them having an intimate relationship where you know each other’s character you. Powerful just powerful so is it possible to believe have faith in God be taught the Bible be able to quote scriptures and note not really no God or Jesus absolutely and we find it in First Samuel 3:7 and First Samuel 3:7 remember the Samuel the mother gave him to the priest Eli to be in the house of God so he was raised in the house of God heard the preaching every Saturday and worship and all that man he’s right there at a thick of things and then.

▶ 26:01 When he’s a grown man. This is what the scripture says in 1st Samuel 3:7 Samuel did not yet know the Lord. Do the scriptures. Lived in the house of God and yet he didn’t know what the Lord neither was the word of the Lord revealed to him having you know just because you confess your sin and you repent and turn from sin doesn’t mean you know the Bible at all. You don’t know the Bible to he reveals it to you so. Revelation of the word and knowing God is something that we need to pursue and attain to are you with me so far okay now one other illustration John 14:8 thought you’d be in John a lot John talks about knowing God more than anybody in John 14:8 here’s Philip talking and he says Lord show us the father and it will satisfy us yeah show us the father Jesus said have I been so long with you Philip and you haven’t known me for.

▶ 27:20 Three years I’ve been with you and you know me. He cast out demons he was healing the sick and he was preaching the gospel and people were getting saved. Philip and yet he didn’t know who God or Jesus yet didn’t have that connection yet didn’t have that encounter yet so if Philip the apostle needed an encounter with knowing God how many of you can say man I need an encounter to knowing I need to enter into that realm yeah and see the problem with the church in America’s we’re not taught these things and most of the church in America is just depended on their faith faith has preached everywhere the songs are about faith testimonies are about faith. Everything’s about faith and none of these real jewels that transform our christianity.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: He cites Numbers 31:38 for “women that have not known a man”; the wording is Numbers 31:18 (linked as 31:18). Caption fixes include “my faith,” “Revelation,” “denied,” “Romans 1,” “homosexuality,” “1 Samuel 3:7,” and “John 14:8.” Sensitive content kept as spoken: named public figures (Bush, Obama, Romney, Maher, Oprah, Joseph Smith), homosexuality, Mormon practice, adultery, corrupt overseas ministers. Statistics (Oprah “10 or 18 years”) given as spoken and unchecked. Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
