The final message on serving God in every season shows how Joshua and kings like Azariah, Hezekiah and Josiah were examples for generations, and how Josiah broke a curse in one generation. Israel’s cycle in Judges warns against a spiral relationship with God, and the call is to model heaven, where elders and angels worship continually, and to take communion.

Why be an example like Joshua?

▶ Watch this part (29:12)

Short answer: In the final message on serving God in every season: Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, who served for everyone to see even after winning the battle.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 29:12 Thank you Jesus amen. Hallelujah all right we’re going to get right into the message this morning hallelujah this is our final message on serving God in every season we were reminded by Joshua that famous. Scripture in the Bible in Joshua 24:15 if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord choose for yourself this day who you will serve and his response to the people of Israel was as for me in my house we will serve the Lord and so today we’re going to be talking about breaking the curse we’re going to be talking about what is uh God’s sight and why his sight is important we’re going to talk about God’s response to our behavior and restoration and lastly modeling.

▶ 30:10 Heaven in Joshua 24:31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua which had known the works that were done so it’s very important for us to be examples to the people around us and that’s what Joshua did in his day he served the Lord for everyone to see even after he had won the battle and won the war and they they took over the parts conquered Canaan and they had their promised land he did not stop there he kept serving. God the mana was gone there was no more magical bread from heaven there was no more water from the rock they had to go and work and get the stuff themselves now the only thing they had was the captain of the the host and he was fighting and winning battles for them and Joshua remained faithful even though all that stuff all the miracles weren’t happening but God was with them how do you know you can you can get far when God is with you amen.

Scripture (NKJV)

What kings did right in God’s sight?

▶ Watch this part (31:13)

Short answer: Azariah became king at 16 and reigned 52 years, Hezekiah at 25, and Josiah at 8; each did right according to his father David.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 31:13 Amen 2 Kings chapter 15:2 I want to show some other examples of people that were uh examples to the people after them Azariah became king at 16 years old can you imagine being king at 16 years old and reigned 52 years that’s a long time it says that he did right in God’s sight according to all that his father amiah had done 2 Kings 15:32 jothan became king at 25 and he reigned 16 years he did what was right in God’s sight according to all that his father uzziah had done and I bring this up because we have two fathers here that that were examples to their children they laid a a uh a lifestyle out before their children that their children could follow and model and that is very important that’s what Joshua did he lived a life that people could follow and that’s very important if you want to serve God in every season you’ve got to take on the responsibility of being an example to everybody around you not just your children but it’s important that you see that people are looking at you to you know how are they going to act I want to uh they want to see what what God can do in your life you we want to be an example and these kings did that second Kings 18:1

▶ 32:44 Hezekiah the son of Ahaz became king at 25 and reigned 29 years he did what was right according to all that his father David had. Done 2 Kings 22 verse 1 Josiah son of Amon became king at 8 years old holy cow and reigned 31 years can you believe that he did what was right in God’s sight and he walked in all the ways of his father David he did not turn to the right or to the left and I bring these two kings up because their fathers it says Hezekiah the son of who. Ahaz Josiah the son of who. Ammon those fathers were were evil they were evil. Men and Hezekiah and Josiah had to not let their example their bad example.

2 Kings 15:2-3 (NKJV)

He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done,

Do fathers determine how children behave?

▶ Watch this part (33:42)

Short answer: There are good and bad examples; the good behavior is attributed to what David had done, so we live as an example for everyone after us, though our example is Jesus Christ.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 33:42 Determine how they were going to behave so on one end you have fathers that are a good example on the one end you have a bad example but here do you see what it what it attributes the uh the good behavior too there they did according to all that who had done. David now if you don’t know Hezekiah is way down the line from David Josiah is way down the line from David but they are descendants of David so they had to look way. Back to an example how many want maybe a grandson great grandson great grandchild looking back and say I’m going to serve God the way my great great grandfather did or my great great grandmother did I mean know that’s.

▶ 34:41 Good so you’re not just living and being an example for your children you’re being an example for everybody after you and of course our example is Jesus Christ but do you understand the point here right we want to be an example not not just for what we see not just what but what we can’t. See maybe your children reject God or will reject God or have rejected God but there may come a time where there’s a child in the future that decides to serve God wholeheartedly with everything they have and you might hear in heaven oh my gosh my great great great grandson is serving God the way I did. Amen that’s. Powerful so our behavior can have an impact on our descendants for years to come and we have to serve God in that way do we want to have an impact on the the our descendants do we want to have an impact with our lives uh for years to.

Can a family curse be broken?

▶ Watch this part (35:53)

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 35:53 Come breaking the curse Proverbs 3:33 the curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked but he blesses the home of the just Deuteronomy 5:9 I am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon of the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me but showing mercy to thousands to those who love me and keep my commandments now I’m I’m throw I’m laying out the scriptures here but I want us to understand what we’re saying so back in our example ammon was Josiah’s father father and because he was wicked he brought a curse on his house amen and a curse is just God’s correction you are inviting the kingdom of darkness to come in you are making yourself vulnerable to allow the kingdom of darkness to come in and just have his way with you but Josiah his son.

▶ 36:53 Lived justly and he did what was right now Amon was he rejected or hated God hate means to reject you forsake but Josiah he loved God and kept his commandments so everything was broken with Josiah in one generation Josiah was able to break that curse and he was able to live a life that was pleasing and was blessed by God and Hezekiah is a great example Hezekiah uh his father was Ahaz and he had to break the curse and we know if you read about Hezekiah he brought about restoration to the temple he brought up he brought back the assembling. Together and God backed him.

All and the angel came in one night and defeated that whole army how many you know is that a curse is that a curse no that’s a what that’s a blessing and it happened to a son of somebody who was cursed so Hezekiah broke the curse why because he loved God he kept his commandments and he followed God hardly he was uh the he he lived justly amen so you can break any curse you don’t want to live your life thinking that you got curses on you okay you got oh got a generation you don’t understand my grandfather great that doesn’t matter break the curse serve God love.

What happened after Joshua and the elders died?

▶ Watch this part (38:47)

Short answer: Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord; we can’t live on people’s opinions, but on what is right in God’s sight. You shall worship the Lord your God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 38:47 God forget about this curse nothing’s stopping. You when you’re in God’s hands nothing nothing is going to touch. You after Joshua and the elders died Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord Judges 2:11 Matthew 4:1 in red letters Jesus said to Satan it is written you shall worship the Lord your God and him only you shall serve and I bring this up because it is very important that we uh care about what God views as right and wrong does it matter what your neighbor thinks does it matter what your church thinks does it matter what you.

▶ 39:44 Think we can’t live our lives based on people’s opinion we have to serve God and his word his truth what he. Says and so you got to ask yourself am I doing what is evil in God’s sight maybe it’s not evil in my friend’s sight but is it evil in God’s sight and what what is right in God’s sight what can I do that is right in the sight of the Lord the scriptures tell us if you read the Bible you’ll understand j Judges 2:11 the children of Israel serve the bales they forsook the Lord they turned from him so God brought him through the uh with plagues he brought him out of Egypt uh he brought them through the red sea he he kept them safe in the wilderness for 40 years fed them with mana from the rock uh he gave them water from the rock so that they were able to.

Why did Israel stop winning battles?

▶ Watch this part (40:47)

Short answer: They turned their back on God after He cared for them in the wilderness; you won’t win if God isn’t on your side.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 40:47 Live everything that they had did not wither their sandals didn’t come off and all this stuff God took care of them and then later on. He fights for them to overtake Canaan they get the promised land and here the children of Israel decide that they’re going to turn their back on. God and so what does God do he delivers them to the hand of pl plunders he sells them back into the hand of their enemies that so that they could no longer stand before their enemies wherever they went out the hand of the Lord was against them and they were greatly distressed how many want that in your life. No no you see God’s got a problem we come to God’s house we become Christians we we take on his forgiveness his cleansing with his blood and then we go we turn our back and we give him the finger and say forget you I’m going to do what I want that’s a problem.

▶ 41:48 And you see they’re not winning wars anymore they’re not winning battles you hear a lot about oh you got to win the battle you got to be you gotta fight the battle and fight well you’re not going to win if God’s not on your side you know you don’t want to go out there when God’s not on your side amen I wouldn’t want to go out and face goliath if God’s not on my side David went out there because he knew God was with him amen has God lost his power. No what was wrong they did evil in the sight of the Lord and they had to correct. It the thief does not come except to kill steal and to destroy but I have come that you may have life and that you may have it more abundantly the curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked if we.
