Miracles and Healings: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Pastor David G. Kincer surveys the Bible’s miracles, then shows the key to healing: people came to hear the word, to be healed, and were healed by Jesus whose presence was there to heal. God grants signs as he wills, praise brings his presence, the song service is equal to preaching, and love—not faith—raised Lazarus and the widow’s son.
What miracles does the Bible record?
Short answer: He lists creation in six days, the flood, Sodom, the races at Babel, Sarah’s child, the plagues, the Red Sea and Jordan, manna, the brazen serpent, Jericho, the sun standing still, Hezekiah’s sundial, Balaam’s donkey, Samson, the widows’ oil, resurrections, Naaman, Jonah, Enoch and Elijah, the furnace and lions’ den—and in the New Testament the virgin birth, healings, resurrections, water to wine, walking on water and Pentecost.
▶ 0:00 Now we’re going to take a look at some miracles creation God made the whole world in six days and these Christians that say no he did it in a million years or there’s a day or whatever they haven’t met the master God is a supernatural God and when he speaks as it says in Psalms when he spoke the world into creation it happened then it happened when he spoke then it happened amen. Noah’s flood fire destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah we’re all miracles languages and all the races were made at the tower of Babel and God put him in all the continents and islands right then. Sarah.
▶ 0:54 Was too old to have a child and God. Not only restored her ability to have a child but it was obviously he restored her youth because kings wanted to take Sarah from Abraham they desired her I mean that is something all right Egypt had 10 plagues plus changing the leper hand to a whole hand a whole hand to a leper hand and cast down the rod and it became a snake the burning bush was not consumed it was just burning but it wasn’t touched by the fire and God spoke from it the red sea parted and the Jordan river parted three times.
▶ 1:47 Manna and. water from a rock miraculous things in the Old Testament and the wilderness God brought plagues upon them God brought acts of God the earth opened up and swallowed the bad guys at one place and plagues consumed them and others for disobeying God God sent fiery serpents under them and fiery serpent bit them and then God got merciful and he had to make a brazen serpent anyone that looked up on the brazen serpent would be instantly healed. Jericho’s walls fell down. Alright. The sun and moon stopped. Till the Israelites won the battle.
▶ 2:41 The dial on the sundial went back ten degrees. Stones. Came from heaven destroyed the army that was attacking Israel a donkey talks to Balaam and he talked back I mean Balaam’s got a conversation going on with a donkey and he not even connecting at all and I’m talking to a donkey ah. Samson’s strength. Dagon the idol in the Philistines temple fell down and then then they put it back up and then it fell down the next time and they cut off its head and hands and so forth or feet widow there were two widows one widow. Got all the vessels filled them up with oil so she could get through the famine the other widow had just a little bit of oil and a little bit of meal and it never went empty through the famine.
▶ 3:46 The widow’s son was resurrected from the dead. Fire came from heaven three times the Shunammite’s son was raised from the dead Naaman was healed of leprosy and Jonah lived three days and the oil without any scars from the stomach acid. The axe swam and Enoch and Elijah were caught up to heaven without dying that’s a nice way to go don’t have to go by the way of cancer anything just. Fiery furnace make three the hebrew children came out of the fiery furnace and Daniel came out of the lion’s den New Testament old. Testament prophecies fulfilled many of them scores of them and Jesus did a lot of things and it says right after this was done to fulfill the prophecy by Isaiah or Jeremiah or somebody he just did these things to fulfill it to confirm.
Scripture in this part
Genesis 1:31 (NKJV)
Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
— Genesis 1:31 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:06 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Numbers 21:8-9 (NKJV)
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
— Numbers 21:8-9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:21 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does he say about the wise men and angels?
Short answer: He says the wise men worshiped Jesus in a house, not a manger, following a star that stood directly over the house, and that angels don’t have wings as Christmas pictures show.
▶ 4:56 Born of a virgin Mary. The three wise men came to worship the child Jesus and they followed a star that. Disappeared for a period and then have reappeared over the house for Jesus want they did not go in to the manger to worship Jesus they went into a house. That manger scene has it all wrong all right. This thought I throw a wrench in your gears you know we just believe things we believe angels have wings because everybody has angels with wings at Christmas angels do not have wings never did have wings never will and that star was not a star up in the at the point I was getting at that star was not a star up in the heavens because the star stood over the house so they knew directly below that star and how you going to have a star way up in the heavens standing over one house.
▶ 6:06 The blind deaf dumb and lame are healed they were healed of dropsy leprosy the dead were raised six times in the New Testament they changed the water to wine they cast out demons they walked on water they found a coin in a fish and the net was full when they did it on the right side of the boat the loaves and the fishes happened twice fed the multitudes with just a few loaves and a few fishes and Jesus was transfigured and people were delivered from prison three times miraculously. We had fiery tongues that appeared on the day of Pentecost with 15 languages being spoken that did not need an interpreter because the people from those lands were there to hear it themselves and Philip was transported from the eunuch miles away beam me up scotty you know actually happened.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 2:9-11 (NKJV)
When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
— Matthew 2:9-11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:20 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What three things unlock healings and miracles?
Short answer: Luke 5:15–17: great multitudes came to hear the word, came to be healed—healing being a sign confirming the word—and were healed by him. The power of the Lord was present to heal; you can’t conjure miracles. The presence of Jesus is the key.
▶ 7:07 So the Bible is a book of miracles now we’re going to ask the question what is the key to healings and miracles what unlocks this. How do I get into the threshold where God does healings and miracles. In Luke 5:15. Great multitudes we’re going to be talking about three things how many things three. Great multitudes thousands of people and we’re only in Luke five I. Know we’re not in Luke 24 wherein look fine we’re in the early part of his ministry. Thousands of people came to hear him you see Jesus spoke so powerfully that the people said never spake a man like this man and they also said he doesn’t speak like the Pharisees and the scribes speak he speaks as one who has authority the right to say so and so they come to hear the word of God alright.
▶ 8:26 The second thing is and they come to be healed. Now healing is a sign it’s a confirmation that the word spoken is the word of God. It’s one of the sign ministries now we showed you the utterance ministries apostle prophet teacher we showed you the sign ministries healing and miracles and then there’s a worker which most of us are your mowing lawns cleaning toilets whatever doing books counting all kinds of thing children’s church and so they come to be healed also they come to hear him and they come to be healed wouldn’t that be nice if the American church was at this place if our church was at this place where the word of God was so powerful people come to hear it and they knew their needs will be met.
▶ 9:35 They could be healed body soul and spirit. By him and here’s the third one and the most important one who healed them Jesus by him see the presence of Jesus is the real key but we got to have the word. As he taught. There’s that word again Pharisees and scribes were sitting by now they didn’t come to hear him and they didn’t come to be healed they were his enemies there were his opponents they were there to catch him in something they didn’t like the crowds that were following Jesus they wanted the crowds following them.
▶ 10:28 All right so but they’re they’re trying to catch him in his words. The power of the Lord was present to heal them and here it is again the power of the Lord was there present to what he’ll that makes all the difference in the world up here he was heal [unclear]. Jesus the power of Jesus was present to heal them and whose them the multitudes. You can’t just conjure up miracles and we can lay hands on and we can do our our churchly duty but the thing that makes it work is the power of his presence.
Scripture in this part
Luke 5:15 (NKJV)
However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.
— Luke 5:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:07Luke 5:17 (NKJV)
Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
— Luke 5:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:37 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why did the multitudes seek to touch Jesus?
Short answer: Luke 6:19: the whole multitude sought to touch him, for virtue went out of him and healed them all. Luke 8:46: when the woman with the issue of blood touched him, Jesus perceived virtue had gone out. People need to touch Jesus—not a song service or speaker—spirit, soul and body.
▶ 11:30 Amen that’s what happened here that’s the key the power of his presence so him is the key and the power of his presence the same thing the power and the source of healing whether it’s the mind the body the soul the emotion parts whatever the healing comes from the presence of God. Luke 6:19 the whole multitude sought to what. Touch him. They wanted they didn’t wait for laying on of hand they just wanted to touch him if I can just reach in there and touch him. For there and this is why they wanted to touch him for there went out virtue power.
▶ 12:30 Out of Jesus and healed them all. Isn’t that something. See and that’s what people need today they need to touch Jesus. Not a good song service not a good music group not a good speaker they need to touch Jesus and Jesus can heal whatever they need healing in. The Bible says I pray that your whole spirit soul and body be preserved blameless until the coming of Lord he can he’ll listen our mind he’ll our emotions he’ll our spirit and he’ll our physical body but the key is we got to touch him. If he isn’t touching us we got to touch him got it.
▶ 13:25 Luke 8:46 somebody has touched me Jesus said to his disciples somebody has touched me. And they go oh Lord everybody’s pressing around here by such a new he says no no somebody touched me for I perceive virtue is gone out of me these other people touching him the power didn’t go out of him and into them but when this woman with the issue of blood touched him Jesus knew God had healed her so when we come to church our focus should be on him and doing everything we can to allow people to touch him see it’s not how well you can sing or how well you can speak or how homiletically correct your sermon can be or whatever it’s not whether you have a tire don’t have a tie it’s none of that stuff.
Scripture in this part
Luke 6:19 (NKJV)
And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
— Luke 6:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:30Luke 8:46 (NKJV)
But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
— Luke 8:46 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:251 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:03 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Who grants signs and wonders?
Short answer: Acts 14:3: the Lord gave testimony—evidence—to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders by their hands. If he hadn’t granted it, nothing would happen; at the pool Jesus healed one man, elsewhere all. The greatest miracle is still salvation.
▶ 14:34 That distracts us from this presence of God we need to touch Jesus and people need to touch Jesus could that be an amen. Now as. We saw God is the necessary ingredient. Acts 14:3 they spoke boldly in the Lord confidently boldly there means confidently they spoke with confidence okay here’s the word again. In the Lord who who’s who here the Lord the Lord gave testimony what’s the word testimony mean now you guys in my weekday Bible class should have this what’s testimony mean.
▶ 15:29 Evidence proof. Covenant. Okay who gave the proof the evidence to the word of his grace so. Signs and wonders are evidence that the word spoken is the word of God does that make sense yeah. Now. Who gave him who gave testimony evidence to the word of his grace who granted the Lord granted the Lord allowed. Signs and wonders to be done by their hands if the Lord had not allowed guess what wouldn’t happen there wouldn’t have been any signs and wonders so see we’ve got to understand this that we need the presence of God and we also need his granting.
▶ 16:33 Of signs and wonders and touching people’s life the greatest miracle still is salvation. Turning a person from sin unto righteousness. From eternal damnation to eternal life is just an amazing thing. Still one of the most amazing thing in my life just turn me around and so he granted say that were granted yeah and if he hadn’t grantee there’s nothing going to happen you remember Jesus went up to the pool there was all kinds of people sick there and he went to one man why because that’s all the father granted and in other places like the last verse we gave you he healed them all God granted that all the people came would be healed and I’ve told you before if you had a healing line and you go through the theatrics these television ministers and people I saw growing up growing up in God and I’ll doing all the theatrics and explaining everything it would take up weeks to get to everybody.
Scripture in this part
Acts 14:3 (NKJV)
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
— Acts 14:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:56Should ministries sell prayer cloths?
Short answer: Acts 19:11–12: God worked special miracles by Paul—handkerchiefs and aprons from his body healed the sick and drove out evil spirits. He says it was a special thing God didn’t repeat, so selling prayer cloths copies it without God working.
▶ 17:51 So somewhere. God just healed all right. So granted is very important. Acts 19:11 Paul taught and God worked. We can teach the Bible says we can so we can water but God gives the increase. [unclear] God worked special miracles these are different than any others the method is that by the hands of Paul from his body were brought to the sick handkerchiefs.
▶ 18:37 Aprons and the diseases departed and evil spirits went out of them you see these cloths or what people carry for hygiene and so forth to protect them when they’re their clothing from getting dirty or you know the blow their nose or whatever and he took these articles of clothing and he might have took other people’s hankies and so forth put him on his body and anyway his helpers took these cloths and they went out and when people touch those cloths demons departed and bodies were physically healed now today the ministry sell you a prayer cloth you know you give us an offering will pray over this because you don’t know how to pray and we’ve got the anointing of prayer and you put this under your husband’s pillow and God will save him or [unclear] filling with the Holy Ghost or whatever you know and we go through this but you got to understand this was a special thing God never did it again in the Bible.
Scripture in this part
Acts 19:11-12 (NKJV)
Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.
— Acts 19:11-12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:51What is a simple way into the presence of God?
Short answer: Psalm 22:3: God inhabits the praises of Israel—the church. Psalm 102:18: a people yet to be created shall praise the Lord. We are his workmanship (Ephesians 2:10) and new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17), and one of the new things is praise.
▶ 19:49 Now what I’m I say we can’t just copy something we need. God working. Amen that’s why the cloths brought deliverance is because God was working that all right Jesus put dirt in the eyes of one guy I. Challenge you go around putting dirt in the eyes of people and see how what kind of reaction whoo kid. Now I want to show you a simple way to the presence of God. Psalms 20:23 and this is what God revealed in the late forties. The awakening this is one of the main truths that he revealed because before that people were moaning and groaning and beating the floor and everything trying to find God and he came and revealed this scripture you are holy oh you that inhabits the praises of Israel he dwells in the praises he enthrones himself in the praises of who.
▶ 21:08 Israel Israel is the bride Israel as the church Israel as the body Israel. Is the city and new Jerusalem you see. Psalms 102 verse 18 this is written for the generation to come a people yet to be created where they created then know there is a future. Visitation of God where God is going to fashion some people and what’s going to be one of the results. They’re going to praise the Lord where does God live and the praises of his people what’s God going to do he’s going to create a people.
▶ 22:04 That’s going to praise the Lord. Ephesians 2:10 we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus. Who’s we there. The church the believer we are his workmanship he’s fashioning us unto good works. Were created second Corinthians 5:17 if any man be in Christ he is a what new creature new creation see. They’re going to be created if we’re in Christ we are a new creation a new creature old things are passed away our [unclear] our human philosophy human doctrines and everything are gone behold all things are become new and what’s one of the new things we’re going to praise the Lord why because he inhabits the praises of his people oh.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 22:3 (NKJV)
But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
— Psalm 22:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:49Psalm 102:18 (NKJV)
This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.
— Psalm 102:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 21:23Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
— Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 22:112 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 22:31What happened when Paul and Silas praised God in prison?
Short answer: Acts 16:25–33: beaten and in a filthy prison, they prayed and sang praises; an earthquake opened the doors and loosed everyone’s chains, and the jailer asked “what must I do to be saved?” Praise is boasting about God, which teaches. He notes the jailer was baptized the same night and says water baptism is essential.
▶ 23:14 Yeah and it works it work at your house and a work in the church. God honors his work now we’re not talking about a song service we’re talking about people. Worshipping and praising God alright Acts 16:25 Paul and Silas who are new creatures see they are a couple of the people that were going to be created to praise the Lord Paul and Silas they’re both apostles. They prayed and what. Sang praises.
▶ 23:57 See. They fulfilled the scripture they prayed there in prison by the way they’d been beaten another in prison the rats are there the human excrement stare the stink that it was a horrible situation and most Christians would have they would just fall apart oh my God oh and they want obeyed God they prayed and they praise the Lord they sing praises to God there’s God that third factor the important factor and when you sing praise means to brag about boast about okay give honor to and you can’t do that without teaching the word because you’ve got to have the word to be able to say Lord you’re the great I AM you’re the creator of the world you’re the savior of the world you know you’re teaching when you’re praising your teaching.
▶ 24:54 Amen if you’re boasting about God you’re you’re teaching anyone around you is going to learn what God is you’re not boasting about yourself oh I’m a great Christian oh yeah [unclear] man I’ll tell you that that isn’t praise praise is boasting about Jesus a great earthquake shook the prison and immediately all the doors were open and everyone’s chains now here is a different healing a different miracle see everyone’s chains there were all in chains including the apostles. Those chains were loosed and a jailer went out to see what was going on and saw all the prisoners free and he got a sword to kill himself and Paul says don’t do that we’re all here we’re all here and the jailer said what must I do to be saved and Paul.
▶ 25:56 Shouting the way to salvation through Christ Jesus and Paul baptized him the same night and for those Christians that don’t believe in baptism water baptism is essential for salvation that jailer asks what must I do to be saved and Paul and Silas did not stop at believing in Jesus and repenting from your sin they included what water baptism say it water baptism now for you modern theologians is Paul and Silas wrong. Well when you say we don’t need to be baptized it’s exactly what you’re saying if Paul and Silas didn’t really had the real truth I.
Scripture in this part
Acts 16:25-33 (NKJV)
But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.
— Acts 16:25-33 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:33What happened when the early church praised God daily?
Short answer: Acts 2:46–47: they continued daily with one accord, praising God, and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved—God touching people, not just certificates or raised hands.
▶ 26:49 Submit to you they did and I submit to you that all through the Bible people got saved and got baptized and they got baptized immediately I submit to you we need to build the on the doctrines of apostles amen. So. He got saved there’s no greater miracles than the salvation I’m telling you that’s that’s important God. Birthing us again spiritually. Again Acts 246 the church continuing daily the church the new creatures there in Acts 2 thousands had got saved these new creatures continued daily with one accord in the temple and what were they doing praising God and what was the result the Lord the Lord the worker the empower.
Scripture in this part
Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV)
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
— Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:49What happened when the musician played in 2 Kings 3?
Short answer: 2 Kings 3: armies without water came to the prophet; he said bring me a musician, and when the musician played, the hand of the Lord came upon him and God provided water. He adds that nations shouldn’t make unholy alliances or meddle where God is dealing with nations.
▶ 27:48 Added to the church daily as such that should be saved don’t you think that’s what we need today instead of just a little certificate or you know raise your hand or what we need God touching people and adding them to the church. Even in the Old Testament there were results second Kings 313 the army of Israel and Judah went out to fight against their enemies they had no water they went days without water so they came down to the prophet Elijah and they man we have no water when we’re in deep trouble Elijah said if it wasn’t for Jehoshaphat king of Judah wouldn’t pay any attention to you because Jehoshaphat went into a unholy alliance and this is something our American congress has got to understand that.
▶ 28:46 Foreign policy. When God is dealing with nations you shouldn’t meddle. And when we should not be in unholy alliances with other nations and they don’t understand that and most Christians don’t understand that but God is moving in the earth and he uses things to deal with nations and we’re not to intervene think on that now you don’t hear any of them talking about that but you know why look at the mess we created in the middle east we created that mess. Anyway. That’s just a side thing. So Elijah says okay you bums bring me a
▶ 29:40 Musician bring me a musician so they brought christine up there with her guitar or her keyboard or larry with his guitar mic on the drums or whatever brought a musician in musicians started playing then it happened remember I told you it only happens when it happens but you believe in it happened does not mean it happened it really happens when it happens it happened when the musician played. No singing just playing that the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah. There it is the power God came upon Elijah and God made a source of water for the army that’s in the Old Testament.
Scripture in this part
2 Kings 3:15 (NKJV)
But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.
— 2 Kings 3:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 29:41 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does praise prepare the bride?
Short answer: Revelation 19:5–7: a voice from the throne says praise our God, small and great; a multitude sings “hallelujah the Lord God reigns,” and the bride has made herself ready. Hebrews 2:12 (Psalm 22:22): in the midst of the church Jesus sings praise—through us.
▶ 30:44 Revelation 19:5 let’s look in the New Testament a voice from the throne who’s on the throne. Jesus say Jesus yeah he’s at the right hand of the father the father’s on the throne too. Ok a voice from the throne Jesus said praise our God now that’s straight from the throne. Praise our God boast and brag about our God all you his servants how many of you serve the Lord you you try to serve the Lord and not just believe in him okay and those who fear him fear him is to depart from evil and hate evil at me you’re trying to depart from evil you’re working on to put yeah he’s talking to you the voice Jesus on the throne in heaven.
▶ 31:39 Small and great you may be just a new Christian you maybe three years old and feel like a new Christian you don’t know very much and all that you feel inadequate some of you got a head bigger than can fit through the door cause you’ve got a few scriptures memorized and you really think you’re something. Small and great you’re mature even if you’re mature and you know the scriptures. We are to what praise our God small to great baby to maturity we’re to praise our God and what happened in heaven a great multitude began to sing hallelujah the Lord God reigns hallelujah the Lord God reigned hallelujah the Lord God reigns and then right after that it says the marriage of the lamb has come and the bride his wife has made herself ready.
▶ 32:44 The praise brings in the presence. Made the bride ready shaped her up formed her fashion her we’re in the praises which brings the presence. Amen. Now church this is a tremendous principle of God it works. Now how does he do that how does he prepare the bride Hebrews 2:12 and Psalms 22:22 same scripture he’s just quoting in in Hebrews from Psalms 22:22 in the midst of the church I will sing praises to you the verse is talking about Jesus. Coming in the midst of the church where two or three are gathered together who’s in the midst Jesus said I am in the midst when you gather together I’m there and in the midst of the church I’m going to sing praises to the father I’m going to sing praises to God how does he do that through us.
Scripture in this part
Revelation 19:5-7 (NKJV)
Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
— Revelation 19:5-7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 30:44Hebrews 2:12 (NKJV)
saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
— Hebrews 2:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 32:44Psalm 22:22 (NKJV)
I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
— Psalm 22:22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:22Is the song service just a warm-up?
Short answer: Ephesians 5:18–19 and Colossians 3:16: be filled with the Spirit, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. The song service is equal with the preaching—we enter his gates with thanksgiving. Psalm 8:2 (Matthew 21:16): out of the mouths of babes praise is strength that stills the enemy.
▶ 33:51 Through us. Amen. Now. Again in Colossians 3:16 in Ephesians 5:18 be filled with the spirit. Okay what is some of the results of being filled with the spirit empowered by the spirit teach and admonishing one another in Psalms hymns and spiritual songs see when we sing we’re teaching when we sing we’re preaching we should be. We shouldn’t be entertaining spiritual songs is non secular song we should be entertaining listen to entertainment at home in the house of God we need spiritual songs we already know Psalms is spiritual songs because of Spirit wrote them ah amen you sing Psalms you’re singing in the spirit because the Spirit birthed the song hymns is a poem about the music about the word of God or so forth and so being filled with the spirit isn’t just [unclear] and speaking in tongues or some kind of emotional.
▶ 35:01 Display it is a channeling of the spirit connecting with us our mind and our mouth to teach and admonishing one another in the song service so the song service is not a preliminary. That we do to build up to the word the song service is equal with the preaching. We got to take the song service seriously why because that’s where we come into his gates with thanksgiving we come into his courts with praise presence of God comes and then things can happen. That’s how the bride was made ready through the church teaching through songs.
▶ 35:55 Building each other up shaping each other into the image of Christ and the church is ready for the marriage supper of the lamb. So the song service the worship service is a vital important part of a church service okay Psalms 8:2 Matthew 21:16 same verse just quoted by Jesus in Matthew 21 out of the mouths of babes and sucklings a little young Christians you may be 30 years old but you just got saved a year ago whatever young Christians young Christians have this power. They don’t even know the scriptures yet or whatever but they have this power. You have ordained in the Psalms it says ordained are placed in and Jesus said it he said perfected.
▶ 36:53 Strength in the Psalms Jesus said praise in the New Testament so praise is what a strength it’s a source of strength why because God inhabits the praises of his people and what’s the result. Your enemies are stilled and the avenger is stilled. Alleluia if Satan’s bothering you and and your flesh is bothering you or whatever when you praise him the presence comes and God defeats the enemy for you yeah amen. It works folks it’s God it’s the scriptures ah.
▶ 37:49 We fight Satan with praise we prepare the bride with praise and we bring the presence with praise boasting a God bragging God on the day of Pentecost when they spoke in tongues what were they speaking the mighty works of God they were praising God they were praising his word and thousands came to Christ that day oh yeah now remember I’ve told you this before when I was a young Christian all I could do is say I love Jesus and that was genuine to me I’d say I love Jesus Jesus you know is good Jesus you know loves me and I would just weep from the presence of the Lord because that’s what was real to me I didn’t have a big dialogue of things to say to God.
Scripture in this part
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
— Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:59Psalm 8:2 (NKJV)
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
— Psalm 8:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 35:55Matthew 21:16 (NKJV)
and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”
— Matthew 21:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 36:18Was it faith or love that raised Lazarus?
Short answer: John 11:5: Jesus loved Martha the worker, Mary the worshiper and Lazarus the sick one. None of them had faith—Martha said he stinks—but Jesus wept so that people said “behold how Jesus loved Lazarus,” and called Lazarus forth. He also raised the widow’s son at Nain without anyone’s faith.
▶ 38:46 But what was real to me I could say amen I did love him and he did love me and I’m telling you that because as a young Christian or an [unclear] Christian it isn’t how many words you can say it’s the genuine words that you can say. Love is. The more excellent way. Hi. John 11 verse 5. Jesus loved Mary Martha and Lazarus they were brothers and sisters from the same family and he loved how many of them all three of them Martha was a worker she was busy doing things and she complained about Mary because Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to his words and loving Jesus ah and Mary didn’t want to leave the worship and the love of Jesus to be about the house I mean you know the house has things that need to be taken care of yeah.
▶ 40:09 Alright so you got the work or the busy one then you got the worshiper a player oh he’s over here that’s all they want to do and then you got Lazarus. Who is the sick one. He’s sick he’s not working he’s not worshiping this guy’s sick and he’s dying and Jesus loved how many of them all three of them watch this now John 11:35 sick Lazarus died. When Jesus came down Mary and Martha said Lord if you would have been here Lazarus wouldn’t have died you could have healed him. So that they have faith.
▶ 41:03 No. Jesus said I’m the resurrection and the life. They didn’t catch it. And. Jesus said well I’m going to raise him up Martha goes were Lord he stinks he’s been dead three days now he stinks are you talking about did they have faith know and have any faith. Did Lazarus have any faith he dead as a doornail. He stinks. And. Then Jesus wept. Jesus wept. Hmm and he wept in such a manner that the Jews that had come to comfort Martha and Mary.
▶ 42:00 They said behold how Jesus loved Lazarus the kind of weeping that Jesus did they knew that. Jesus really loved Lazarus and then Jesus said and verse 43 Lazarus come forth. And. Lazarus that was dead came forth alive and people come from all over to hear his testimony. Okay. Was it love or faith that healed Lazarus. Love. The problem with the visitation in the late 40s that brought the miracles tremendous miracles.
Scripture in this part
John 11:5 (NKJV)
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
— John 11:5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 38:46John 11:43 (NKJV)
Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
— John 11:43 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:19Luke 7:12-15 (NKJV)
And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.
— Luke 7:12-15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:55 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What went wrong with “faith healing”?
Short answer: He says the late-1940s awakening had real, reported healings, but men began asking “do you have faith?” and it became faith healing—blaming the sick. Jesus heals because he loves; God grants healing when and to whom he wills, and you aren’t second-class if not healed. He will meet your need in his timing.
▶ 42:56 You know you guys don’t understand it but this move of God in the late 40s and early 50s made front page news paper a lot. Articles were written on a lot and they would say the reporters would go down and let’s say you know when these people in the local community that they knew were deaf and dumb these were people in the community that everybody knew were deaf and dumb the reporter would say in their news article they were healed. They could hear and they could talk a prominent doctor in Illinois went there a prominent doctor that everybody knew and God healed him a man with a cancer growth on his legs so big that it reached from just below the knee all the way down to his ankle the growth disappeared right in front of everybody’s eyes.
▶ 44:00 Polio was healed TB was healed. This was no phony stuff this was the real deal back then. Are you out there church. But just like all the other awakenings man has to get involved. And they started saying things like do you believe God can heal you do you have faith God can heal you have faith for this. So after a few years of that they started calling it faith healing and they call it faith healing today. In other words if you believe you’ll get healed and if you don’t get healed it’s because you didn’t believe you didn’t have enough faith and I.
▶ 44:59 Submit to you that’s totally wrong Jesus heals people because he loves them and yes he asked some people do you believe. But the widow, a widow lost her husband husband died and back then that a woman trying to supply the needs of the family is very difficult and then her son dies now she’s left alone he’s got nobody. And so they’re having a funeral procession to town Jesus comes by and he does a very rude thing he stops the funeral procession. That’s rude. Did that woman have faith did that dead boy have faith no.
▶ 45:54 Jesus raised that boy up from the dead was it faith or love love. See the more excellent way is love and I submit to you if we start pushing love in our own life and in the church love in its total not love that you know where your have empathy for ever little lame duck around but you have the total of love to correct the one that’s wrong love to preach the gospel to those that are lost amen I mean you know it’s just as important to deal with the poor in spirit as it is those poor and money. Did you get that. See poor in spirit is way more important we’re talking about eternity.
▶ 46:55 Alleluia and love. Is what will bring this and they had name it and claim it back there when I was in a church named [unclear] oh yeah just believe it receive it hallelujah and they were receiving anything they had to act like they were they had to pretend they were because they didn’t want to be looked at as not having the faith you see it’s granted God granted allow it and if he doesn’t [unclear] no it’s okay he’s still gone and you’re not a second-class citizen because God healed the person over here with cancer and didn’t heal you of cancer it doesn’t make you a second-class citizen it didn’t make you any less than either one why God does what he wants to do when he wants to do it how he wants to do it and who he does it too amen.
▶ 47:58 And so as time went by I told you that awakening declined and we’re in the season. Where it has declined and we’re waiting for the for a fresh awakening heaven I may want to see another awakening I submit to you this morning that God will meet your need and he may not do it today or next month. But he will meet your need because he loves you he knows the timing to meet your need whether it’s physical. Spiritual. Emotional or in your head your brain you don’t think right Bible says he hasn’t given us a spirit of fear if you’re fearful in any way God can heal that fear and give you a strong mind.

About this transcript
This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: Rough captions; many fixes and several phrases not clear. He names Elijah as the prophet in 2 Kings 3 (it was Elisha). Points to check: angels without wings (seraphim and cherubim are described with wings); dead raised “six times” in the New Testament; reports from the late-1940s healing movement (an Illinois doctor, a leg tumor). Sensitive content kept as spoken: water baptism essential for salvation, prayer-cloth ministries, races made at Babel, U.S. foreign policy (“we created that mess” in the Middle East). Congregation musicians are named in passing in the transcript. Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
