Pastor David G. Kincer looks at Martha, who met Jesus with “if You had been here” and looked ahead to the last day. Jesus answered, I am the resurrection and the life — now. Miracles are for today, and He can resurrect a broken life. He also comments on national leaders and fundamentalist teaching on salvation.

Scripture (NKJV)

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Who is the focus?

▶ Watch this part (34:50)

Short answer: Martha — her past and future; some have no time for Jesus because they’re busy serving.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 34:50 We are taking our text out of John chapter 11. And we’re going to look today at Martha. Martha’s past and Martha’s future facts. Opposes Jesus present purposes. Present plans. Martha as you remember was the one that was busy. Doing all this stuff she didn’t have time for Jesus she didn’t have time for the disciples she was just washing and cleaning and cooking and doing everything. To make their life comfortable she was also a worrier. And she was troubled about many things and she was also a complainer. And these are types of people in the church today we got complainers we got worriers we got people that are troubled people depressed all the time they just can’t get out of depression and got.

▶ 35:46 No time for Jesus they’re busy helping the poor they’re busy ushering at the church and sweeping the floor but they have no time for Jesus and his work. Lazarus was the sickly one if you remember as people in the body of Christ that are sickly it just seems like they live in the time of job all the time. And then you’ve got mary the worshiper that said at his feet which Jesus says with the important thing and heard his word heard his word. Okay we got these people in the church today then there was the Jews the religious people they didn’t know Christ they didn’t accept Christ but they were there to comfort. And so Martha. When Jesus came. To Martha’s house he found Lazarus buried four days before.

How long was Lazarus dead?

▶ Watch this part (36:38)

Short answer: Four days; the body decays immediately.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 36:38 Now as you know the dead. Their body starts decaying immediately. And in three days their body’s bloating it can bloat up to twice the size that it was the blood and foam start coming out the nose and the mouth okay the insects and worms start eating this decaying body they love rotten stuff. And this is the condition of Lazarus. After four days and there was this thing that uh traditional history says that people believe that after three days the spirit’s gone and cannot come back so Jesus waited four days so that means now Lazarus have been dead at least five days because there’s one day of preparation for the body. So Jesus made sure all the facts were covered and he comes down there and that’s the condition of Lazarus many Jews the religious people came to comfort Martha and mary that’s all people can do they can’t offer you everlasting life they can’t offer you any hope they just know how to comfort you and and bring food to you and do something for you in your time of grief that’s it we got millions of them in the world today.

What did Martha say?

▶ Watch this part (37:59)

Short answer: Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 37:59 Martha when she heard that Jesus had come went out and met him and that’s what Jesus said come unto me all you that labor in the heavy laden and I will give you rest he invites us all to come to him as many as come to me he said I will know why he’s cast out Martha had enough faith to go out there and meet Jesus how many of you out there got enough faith to get on your knees and meet with Jesus hallelujah. Mary said in the house. And this is her words. Lord Jesus if you had been here past tense past tense living in the past if you had been here. Lazarus would not have died. Well he’s the Lord he’s God what’s him doing I mean whether he’s here or whether he wasn’t here.

▶ 38:56 He is God. And God told Jesus that the sickness of Lazarus was not unto death in our last lesson and then Jesus tells his apostles Lazarus is dead. The sickness is not unto death Lazarus is dead see this causes a lot of Christians to be troubled well what what’s going on is God mixed up is no we’re mixed up. All right his message was this sickness is not unto death it doesn’t matter if he dies or whatever if he’s in the grave for a year it doesn’t matter I am going to do something spectacular. Amen. Past. Opposing hindering limiting the present plan of God.

What did she know?

▶ Watch this part (39:53)

Short answer: Even now, whatever You ask of God, God will give You.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 39:53 She goes on to say but I know Lord even now whatever you ask of God God will grant it. Did she know. Or is she just mouthing words like we do. I know the Lord can come any minute do you. Do you really know that. Why didn’t he come a minute ago. Hallelujah. And let me share this with you. She says whatever you ask of God he will grant it let me remind you of this Jesus said I can do nothing.

John 11:22 (NKJV)

But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

Who does the works?

▶ Watch this part (40:46)

Short answer: The Father in Me does the works; the Son does only what He sees the Father do.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 40:46 Except what I see of my father. Jesus said it’s not me doing the works it’s the father in me doing these miracles are you there church let me just suggest to you you need to stop asking so much and you need to listen to what God is asking you to do. God’s asking for us to get saved God’s asking for us to assemble together even the more so as you see the day approaching provoking one another to love and do good work he’s asking us a lot of things. But we spend most of our time praying talking to him and asking him to do this and asking him to do that and he is asking us to go and preach the gospel to every creature he is asking us to execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

▶ 41:52 And we’re so busy asking him for all of these things. We don’t hear what he’s asking us and if you read his word he is asking a lot out of us. Mary’s got this thing all wrong. Jesus is there because the father asked him to go and resurrect Lazarus just like the father asked him. To preach the gospel to lay down his life to die on that cross to take the beating to take the crown of thorns to take the spear. And. Ask him to raise up 12 apostles and Jesus did what the father asked him to do. And the church should be doing what the father is asking us to do can that be an amen.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 5:19 (NKJV)

Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

— John 5:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 40:46

Do we say “if God had been here”?

▶ Watch this part (42:51)

Short answer: People say if God were in America we wouldn’t have this pandemic.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 42:51 Hallelujah. Well if God would have been here in America we wouldn’t have this pandemic. Well you know if if this and if that. If I hadn’t married that person my life would have been better if I hadn’t had kids I wouldn’t be in this mess if I would have got a better education. If they wouldn’t have mistreated me and talked about me I wouldn’t be so angry and depressed if they would have done better I would could live better it’s always putting it in the past instead of Lord what can you do in my present circumstance to resurrect me into a new life amen.

▶ 43:50 Yes it doesn’t hurt to give God a clap offering his word is powerful church it’s the word that sets you free it never says faith will set you free it never says belief will set you free. It says the word will set you free the living word of God. Hallelujah. So. I know even now whatever you ask of God God who granted. That is such a believer’s excuse. We say that kind of words all the time we act like we know what’s going on and we don’t know beans. Jesus said to her your brother will rise again.

▶ 44:45 Okay he’s repeating what he said to the apostles back there the sickness is not unto death Lazarus is dead and him being dead has nothing to do with the father sending me down there to resurrect him from the dead and four days has nothing to do with the father not resurrecting him for the death there’s nothing hindered the father’s purpose and plans. I don’t care how long you’ve been in your condition. It doesn’t hinder God’s purposes and plan to resurrect you into a new creature in Christ Jesus. Amen. The gospel is not in speech the Bible says but in power and the church has. Has organized the power right out.

Are miracles for today?

▶ Watch this part (45:39)

Short answer: Saying they aren’t is the stupidest thing.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 45:39 Some people don’t even believe miracles are for today and healings are for today that is the stupidest thing God is the same yesterday today and forever from Genesis 1 to Revelations 22 God is doing miracles shut up and let God do his thing could that be an amen. Don’t bring people down to your level of faith your level of following Christ you need to bring people up to God’s level. That he designed in his purpose. Hallelujah. Your brother shall rise again now here comes this great Christian answer. I know here it is again I know oh. I I got scriptural understanding. Man I’ve memorized a couple of verses I just I I just know everything.

▶ 46:35 I talk to people on the facebook and they just know everything. They know everything that the preachers taught them and the book authors wrote that they learned in seminary that has been been taught for 200 years and they think it’s new Revelation it is not new Revelation it never was a Revelation. It’s men’s opinions men’s ideals and men’s doctrine and we keep repeating it repeating until we believe it. Only Jesus can open your understanding to the word only the spirit can convict you of sin righteousness and judgment to come and lead you into all truth only they can do that preachers can preach the word but only Jesus and the Holy Ghost can do the work can I hear an amen. I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection of the last day.

Where did Martha look?

▶ Watch this part (47:36)

Short answer: To the future: I know he will rise again at the last day.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 47:36 Jesus is talking about now and now she’s looking to the future I know there’s a resurrection coming and he’ll rise at the resurrection of the last day and by the way for those of you believe in pre-tribulation and post-tribulation seven seven-year tribulation. She only said one resurrection here the resurrection at the last day she didn’t say the first resurrection before the tribulation she didn’t say the first resurrection after the tribulation she didn’t say the first resurrection before the millennium or the first resurrection after the millennium she says one resurrection and one last day amen she’s smarter than most of us today and she’s the worry award she’s the troubled one and she’s the complainer and she’s smarter than most Christians today.

▶ 48:28 About the resurrection. Somebody goes over to Daniel and takes a seven weeks out of Daniel and brings it down to the end time and says there’s seven years of tribulation that’s a bunch of horse manure. Even Daniel said when I ask when will these things be the angel answered and Daniel said I heard what he said but I didn’t understand and who do we think we are that we understand. Could that be an amen. One thing for sure Jesus is coming and one thing for sure there’s going to be a resurrection of the dead and that’s the whole purpose here of God is to prove there’s going to be a resurrection at the end by resurrecting Lazarus after he’s dead four days and and five days a day before they prepare them at least five days went by and everybody knows that body is bloated it stinks the worm is eating it the blood is coming out of the mouth the nose the ears and everything else I mean there is no way they can say anything the atheist the the the pagan worshiper they can’t say anything because God is going to bring back that rotten body to a wholesome body raise him up put his spirit back in him and say look what I can do and if I can do this now I can do it at the end day.

What did Jesus say?

▶ Watch this part (49:53)

Short answer: I am the resurrection and the life.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 49:53 Amen. He’s going to prove that there is a resurrection at the last day. Jesus said I am the resurrection Martha where you been I am the life I’m going to raise the lathrus I’m going to put his spirit back in him that body is going to be healed right back to normal better than normal. When I get through with him he ain’t sick he’s as healthy as he’s ever been in his life I am the resurrection I am the life. And I can bring it now as well as the end day he that believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live what is he saying we have a spirit that lives forever our body may die but our spirit lives on.

▶ 50:46 Amen and in the last day he’s going to take that body that dust bring it back to put it back together as an immortal body with no blood and he’s going to put our spirit back into that body just like he’s doing Lazarus and like Lazarus got a new body we’re going to get an immortal body in the end we’re going to come out of that grave with an immortal undecaying. Body to live forever and ever. Amen. Hallelujah. Whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. See the spirit cannot die. Except the second death in the lake of fire.

▶ 51:41 People want to commit suicide they just wake up alive. They just kill the body they’re still. Alive. The second death the putting to death of the spirits and punishment in the lake of fire for eternity. So what does she say. I believe. You’re the Christ. The son of God come into the world. Well honky dory. That is great that you believe that but that is not what Christ is talking about he’s talking about resurrecting Lazarus from the dead. Right now and you believe after he tells you all that you believe that he’s the son of God that’s wonderful. He loved you back there because you believed that but today he wants you to believe that he can raise Lazarus from the dead church God wants you to believe.

John 11:25 (NKJV)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

Can He resurrect a broken life?

▶ Watch this part (52:42)

Short answer: Yes, whatever you are going through.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 52:42 That he can resurrect your broken life your dead life your empty life whatever you’re going through he is the God of today not the God of just the God of the future not just the God of the past the one of the songs we sing today you did great things you’ve done great things ah we need a God that’s doing great things amen we can’t live in the past most of your Christian song is the past. Past not present past because that’s their relationship with God what he did in the past what he done in the past in my life what he done in the past and the Bible he is the God of the present can I hear an amen and he wants to finish the work he has begun in you he begun a good work in you and he wants to complete it he wants us to finish it he wants you to be a mature wise Christian living in this world as a light to the world he wants you to be a Christian that believes that the God of miracles does miracles today not only of healing the sick and raising the dead and and and healing miraculous healings that that doctors can heal he wants to heal you of your sinful nature your sinful life he wants to give you a new spirit he wants to make you a new person of righteousness a slave to the word of God and Jesus Christ can I hear an amen.

Why do we get our leaders?

▶ Watch this part (54:16)

Short answer: He says we deserve them, naming Biden, Harris, McCain and Romney.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 54:16 Hallelujah listen. Do you know why we got Biden and Harris for leaders because we deserve them I taught you that back in the summer God brought it to this in the summer he raises up kings he he puts down kings and he does it according to the citizens standard of morality. When Israel left God God brought in a nation to rule over them. And then they would repent. And then they would go back into sin and God would deliver them from that nation those rulers those kings and then they would go back into sin and he’d bring in another one. Biden is as evil as you can get you say you shouldn’t be talking about that he shouldn’t be living the life that he is. Harris is more wicked than he is. And don’t think republicans are innocent.

▶ 55:11 McCain. Was just like those guys. And so was Romney. Being a black person or a female or a male or a white person or a mexican or an indian does not make you a leader of a nation. We should not be voting on gender we should not be voting on the color of skin we need a leader that can lead our nation in the ways of righteousness isn’t that what the Bible says hallelujah. But it’s the church you see why do we have such a welfare program because the church does.

Is salvation free with no works?

▶ Watch this part (56:06)

Short answer: He disputes fundamentalists who say so.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 56:06 Most of your fundamentalists say salvation is free no works no nothing you just believe you’re going to heaven there’s no responsibility. And that’s what our politicians are giving us in America a welfare state you don’t have to work. The people working will pay for you to sit at home. Are you there. And Christians don’t get it we’ve been silent so long. They have silenced us so long. And we don’t get it we pray and it hasn’t worked for 30 years and we’re still praying God will change our nation instead of getting up from that prayer and fighting injustice. Could that be an amen. Hallelujah does God want to resurrect America absolutely does he want to resurrect germany african nations indian and oh yes but he’s given the responsibility to who to us to go and preach the gospel and the word and the word work and the Lord work with the word to confirm the word with signs following we need a supernatural God in our day in an hour not psychology not positive thinking we need a powerful God that backs up a powerful message and transforms lives could that be an amen.

▶ 57:30 And I don’t have time to end this message our time is up. All. Right. Because. God is dealing with a family. He’s using examples of the family. For us to relate to at the end but my time is gone so I’ll have to skip that. But God wants to restore the families in America. He wants to get the marriages right he wants to get the families right he wants to get the mom and dad’s right he wants to get the kids right our politicians are destroying. The Bible family standards.

▶ 58:24 They’re destroying them they’re enabling the families to be destroyed. And Christians who are looking for truth and wanting truth need to rise up and start speaking the truth outside the walls of their home and the walls of their church. But we will sing this song as our musicians come oh how he loves you and me. I don’t care what condition you’re out in out there. I don’t care if you’re a democrat a republican a baptist or a catholic or whatever he loves you I don’t care if you’re a complainer. Worried about everything or are you a deep worshiper and really into hearing the words of Christ I don’t care if you’re sickly and weak and everything just bad seems to happen to you the Bible says Jesus loved Martha Jesus loved mary and Jesus loves Lazarus and folks Jesus loves you.

▶ 59:29 And because he loves you he wants to come supernaturally to you and change your life amen today. He wants to work in you. Today. So let’s just accept his love. If you’re out there in facebook land or youtube land let’s just stand and sing this. He doesn’t care if you’re a complainer he doesn’t care of what condition you’re in he loves you so much and he’s showing that he’s the God of the present through Lazarus he can resurrect you and make a new life for you in any condition you can bring to him today and let’s let a supernatural God come and supernaturally move it in our life oh how he loves you and me.

▶ 1:03:25 The Bible says we can pray with our understanding and we can pray with our spirit. Let the spirit start talking to you. There’s a place in our prayer where we can leave just praying in ourself and begin to pray in the spirit and that’s what you need to listen to when it switches to the spirit praying you need to take notes and write it down because God’s talking to you. Directly. Me. Speak my Lord. He loves you and me.

▶ 1:04:38 Oh. We thank you father that you love us in spite of our flaws and our character. Those of us who are troubled and worried about things those of us who complain. Those of us who are busy doing things in the kingdom but not taking time to sit at your feet and hear your word. Those of us are weak and sickly you love us all Lord the religious ones. You love us all. And your desire. Is that we. Have life and life more abundantly. Your desire for us is to live. A new creature.

▶ 1:05:31 In this world. Letting our light shine before men that they may see our good works and bring honor to the father. So Lord we get off of our self yes we are one of these kind of people but your love is bigger than what we are. And Lord. We asked you to resurrect us. Into a new life this day. In Jesus. Name above all names as you asked us to pray we pray this prayer in and we thank you for hearing us. And we thank you Lord. For asking us what you want us to do and this week we’re going to be looking and we’re going to have our ear tuned in to hear what you require of us and desire for us to do for you amen and amen.

▶ 1:06:43 He gave his life. What more could he. Give oh how he loves you. Oh how he loves me. Oh how he loves you and me. He gave. His life. What more could he give. Oh. How he loves me. Oh how he loves you and me.

▶ 1:08:58 Jesus God I pray Lord Jesus that we would unite. In that understanding God Lord to hear what you have to say just like many people in the Bible Lord in that time of their crisis and their need and their rebuilding God they went to you to hear what you said and to follow what you said God and Lord Jesus we pray for our change in our hearts Jesus to hear you and what you have to say Lord God and bless this offering and everyone said. Amen. We have an annual business meeting coming up the date and board ship number nominations will next. At mountainside ministries we have a lot going on here.
