What is the church’s goal?

▶ Watch this part (27:46)

Short answer: The marriage of the Lamb: a bride who has made herself ready, arrayed in fine linen, the righteous acts of the saints.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 27:46 You may find your Jesus this morning kids may be dismissed. Thank you for joining us this morning. Uh. It’s good to be in the house of God let’s pray this morning and invite our king Lord Jesus we come before you this morning God we pray for your church. Lord we pray for this church here God that you would guide us in to making good choices wise choices Lord to continue the church on for until you come Jesus we pray for the church throughout the world and throughout our city throughout our country Lord God that you would begin to stir in our hearts Lord of unity like we see today on other issues that are not even about you but Lord I pray Jesus that the church would rise with such unity Lord God about your kingdom Lord about your truths God about your justice and judgments God Lord around your power Lord Jesus we pray and we ask these things in your church today God let it start with us individually.

▶ 28:55 We thank you Jesus amen. Revelations chapter 19 verse 7 says let us be glad and rejoice and give him glory for the marriage of the lamb has come and his wife has made herself ready. To her it was given to be arrayed in fine linen clean and bright for the fine linen as the righteous acts of the saints. And it goes on to say in Revelations 21:2 and John saw the holy city new Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband and so these scriptures here we recognize that God. There is a bride there is a church. That is making themselves ready.

▶ 29:50 There is a bride there is a church that is adorned with fine linen. Clean and bright. The righteous acts of the saints. So that is our direction that is our goal. I saw John I’m sorry. Prepared as a bride adorned for her husband so we see that God. Is coming back for his church and that we are that bride. Even though we have men and women in here God does not see men and women he sees a people he sees one body that’s why we’re called the body of Christ when he’s coming back and even right now he is developing his church into a bride that he will.

▶ 30:53 For our understanding understanding mary when he comes back it’s called the marriage of the lamb. Revelations 21 verse 4 he will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall know shall be no more oh man. That’s great neither shall be there neither shall there be mourning. Nor crying. Nor pain anymore. No more pain. No more. Mourning no more death for the former things have passed away the way the things that used to work how your body was is decaying and you know we have all these problems you can break your leg again all that’s going to be different it’s all going to be gone it’s passed away he’s given you a new body a new mind a new spirit John 14:1 in my father’s house are many mansions and if it were not so I would have told you I go to prepare a place for.

What does Jesus want to make the church?

▶ Watch this part (32:05)

Short answer: A glorious church, cleansed by the washing of water by the word, without spot or wrinkle.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 32:05 You. Ephesians chapter 26 that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word that he might present her to himself a glorious church having no spot. Or wrinkle or any such thing but that we that she should be holy and without blemish and so we understand with these scriptures that God has a goal for his church and he is going to bring the church to a place. Of glor to the place of being glorious without spot or wrinkle without blemish we’re going to be washed not only by his blood for our sin but by his word we’re going to be washed.

Scripture (NKJV)

Ephesians 5:26-27 (NKJV)

that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

What did Jesus pray for before the cross?

▶ Watch this part (33:03)

Short answer: That those the Father gave Him would be one as They are one.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 33:03 So he wants to transform the church into a glorious church. And we have an opportunity to become to become the bride that has prepared herself for the wedding. Now going to when Jesus was on the earth and I want to make sure we understand here when Jesus is on the earth and he was about to be. Betrayed by judas if you remember that night he was in the garden of gethsemane and he was praying and he prayed three times. And he prayed for how many hours. Three hours. And he would come back to his disciples because they were there and he said can you not watch with me one hour and then he’d go pray and he came back another hour can you not watch with me another hour because they were sleeping and he go and then he come back.

▶ 33:56 And Jesus was praying for hours. And I was reading about this prayer he would go and he would say Lord if you can take this cup from me Lord but not my will your will be done and I’m thinking how can he be praying that for an hour if you’ve ever prayed before you know that that’s not going to last an hour. Right an hour is a long time praying. Three hours is a long time frame and he he wasn’t just sitting there repeating the same thing so in John 17 we see some more. Into what he was talking to God about. And he said holy father.

▶ 34:48 Keep through your name those whom you have given me that they may be one as we are. And so when Jesus before Jesus was crucified before he was. Betrayed and while he was praying with such fervor and such uh. You know it says that his his sweat became like drops of blood he was so. Uh passionate about these prayers that he was praying and one of them was this. That. The church. That they talking about us would be one as we are one as God and Jesus Christ are one. And so we see that is very important to Christ it is very important to God that the church be united the church be one.

▶ 35:46 Romans 12:4 for as we have many members in one body so we being many are one body in Christ and individual members of one another. We are one even though we are separate bodies separate people in the church. We are one body in Christ. Psalms 133 behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity it is like the dew. Of hermon descending upon the mountains of Zion for there the Lord commanded the blessing life forevermore eternal life and so we see here that unity is so important Jesus Christ he prayed for it for during his last. Hours on the earth his last days on the earth he was praying.

How divided is the church?

▶ Watch this part (36:42)

Short answer: Probably more than ever—yet unity begins with division over who Jesus is.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 36:42 For unity of the church. It just so happens that we’re living in a time where the church is more divided probably than it’s ever been just because time has gone by right the first separation happened between the catholic to baptist to lutheran you got all these factions now right and all of those factions have their own denominations and split ups and so you think to yourself how can this be how is it possible we’re all divided. But you got to remember. When Jesus prays. He makes it happen. Even right now he’s up in heaven and he is planning for the way that he is going to unite the church.

▶ 37:36 And it’s going to be a powerful powerful. Wit thing to witness. But the story of unity starts with division in Luke chapter 12 51 do you suppose that I came to have peace to give peace on earth I tell you not all not at all but rather division. But some said while in John 7:41 some said while will the Christ come out of Galilee has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem where David was and so there was a what a division among the people because of who because of Christ because of him John 9:13 they brought him who formerly was blind and this is not they said about him this is not this man is not from God he does not keep the Sabbath and others said how can a man who is a sinner do so much signs and there was a what division so God came and he is dividing things he’s dividing things he’s come to divide it into two kingdoms the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light and he has done that and he does it today he is inviting all into his kingdom but not all respond.

▶ 39:05 It’s not like he is purposefully doing it he’s not out to throw it you know divide everyone he it’s just because of who he is and because of his truth and they don’t want to follow him so they divide. But do we do we know the truth about Bethlehem was Jesus did Jesus come from Bethlehem yes they did not know that he was born in Bethlehem they saw him walking from Galilee they didn’t ask him where were you born they didn’t ask him where are you from Jesus was born in Bethlehem he went to Egypt came back from Egypt he was in Nazareth he was in Galilee he was all over. And so yes. He is the messiah.

▶ 39:56 They just didn’t know because they didn’t do their homework. So and so it is today. People are still divided on who Jesus is is he a savior is he a prophet was he only a good man is he no one some are trying to say that he never existed some say he existed but he didn’t really do anything. The world today is still divided on Jesus. But. God has separated his kingdom and now he has a kingdom of his people that are following him and now we got problems in that kingdom and this is where the problem is the unity and the division we don’t want it in the kingdom of God.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 12:51 (NKJV)

Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.

— Luke 12:51 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 37:36 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

What does God hate?

▶ Watch this part (40:52)

Short answer: Seven abominations, including one who sows discord among brethren.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 40:52 In Proverbs chapter 6 seven things are an abomination to him. Six things the Lord hates seven are an abomination a proud look lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood a heart that devises wicked plans feet that are swift and running to evil a false witness who speaks lies and one who sows discord among brethren. And particularly. One who sows discord among God’s kingdom and God’s kingdom and this is very very important we see that God in the beginning of these scriptures God is taking us to the bride one body united he is praying for it he’s going to make it happen but we don’t see it today. And so we want to identify what are those things that divide us.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV)

These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

— Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 40:52 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

What does Eden show?

▶ Watch this part (41:46)

Short answer: Adam heeded his wife, Eve the serpent; the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 41:46 And how do we stay united. Genesis chapter 3 verse 13 the woman said the serpent deceived me and I ate and then Adam said because you have he sorry. Sorry God said to Adam you’ve heeded your the voice of your wife have eaten and have eaten from the tree. So. Eve here. Believed Satan. And then. Adam was divided by what Eve told him. Satan helped Eve divide from God and Adam and an Adam helped Eve divide from God why because they believed the lies that Satan told him because Satan remember he always uses partial truths.

▶ 42:45 He said that it was good he said that it was that they’d be able to understand right from wrong and that’s true they were able to but they didn’t know it would come with punishment the thief does not come except to steal to kill and to destroy so we have Satan who is out to divide he is out to destroy. And in John 8 it says that he is a liar and the father of liars. So we have to be careful about the lies that come you got to be able to identify the lie and you got to be able to identify the truth Romans 16:1. Korah of levi with dathan and byram of reuben they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel and 250 leaders they had the big dogs they had the chiefs they had the people that everybody was supposed to listen to they had the people that had the doctorates they were all uh credentialed people oh they were just they were the people to listen to.

What lie did Korah tell?

▶ Watch this part (43:51)

Short answer: That all the congregation was holy—while it was sinning.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 43:51 And they rose up and they went up to Moses. And they said all the congregation is holy and the Lord is among them why then do you exalt yourselves in their why do you you Moses exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord. And Moses’s reply was the Lord will show you who is his and who is holy. And he said also to Korah because they were the Levites are you seeking the priesthood also. Because the Levites. They were not priests but they worked in the house they did all the work for the tabernacle but they weren’t priests that was Aaron’s house his family. So they came up and they accused Moses and they were building their case against him like he has done something wrong and they broke two obvious ten commandments here and this is after they had the ten commandments.

▶ 45:00 And so here you see the yellow they said the congregation is holy but the congregation was not holy the congregation was sinning God was unhappy with them and so their lie directly conflicted with God and what God said. Are you seeking the priesthood also you see these men they wanted what Moses had they wanted to become priests they were coveting they wanted some but something that somebody else had. And so this is the kind of stuff that divides the kingdom ten commandments simple sin divides the kingdom. Numbers 13:32 going to the story about when the Israelites were going to go into the promised land God had promised them.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Numbers 16:3 (NKJV)

They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?”

— Numbers 16:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:51 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Is the majority always right?

▶ Watch this part (45:58)

Short answer: Ten of twelve spies discouraged the people, and they missed the promised land.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 45:58 The land of Canaan and they came up to the border and they spied out the land they sent 12 people in to spy out the land and 10 of the 12. Came back and they discouraged the people and they said we are not able to go up against this people they are stronger than we they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. But Joshua and Caleb said the land we pass through to spy out is an exceedingly good land and if the Lord delights in us we will he will bring us into the land and so we have here another example of the majority. 10 of the 12 is that a majority. The majority. Wanted to disobey God the majority discouraged the people the majority said that this place is bad yeah it’s nice but we cannot defeat the people that are in there and so because people listen to the majority.

▶ 47:06 They missed out. On. The promised land. And today people are saying that because the majority believes this way they must be right they will give you that exam that excuse and they will say that statement well who believes that. Not everyone believes that my mike uh you’re believing something that not a lot of people believe. And because you’re not in the majority. You’re wrong that’s not true not according to the book. You’ve got to find truth you’ve got to know truth you’ve got to listen to what God said see what God spoke and what God spoke through Moses and said through Moses is the truth. That this land was for these people. He’s not trying to trick them into being killed.

▶ 48:02 That is the truth. Maybe today we interpret scripture the way everyone else does because that’s the way everyone else does. You don’t understand this is church over here this guy over here this is what he says it is well that may not be right. Just because the majority believes that way doesn’t mean it’s right. From God’s word we must have two or three witnesses. From the scriptures not two or three witnesses of the majority or people that are living today. We have a new promise. Oh I’m sorry. Now.

Scripture (NKJV)

But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”

What covenant should we pray for?

▶ Watch this part (49:00)

Short answer: I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts, and remember their sin no more.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 49:00 We see how we are divided. We fall into the traps of believing the majority we fall into the traps of covetousness of lying we fall into the traps of sowing discord among God’s people. But we need to get back to unity in Exodus chapter 6 we know the results of unity because God it says he heard the groaning of the children of Israel. Whom the Egyptians kept in bondage and I have remembered my covenant so God had a covenant with Israel but he also heard the groaning of the children they were united in their groaning. And he remembered the covenant that he made with them and God has made a covenant with us I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel with the house of Judah I will put my law in their minds God has promised to do this for us are we groaning for these things to happen.

▶ 50:06 Does God hear you praying for this covenant to be filled in your life. I will put my law in their minds I will write it on their hearts are you asking God to write his word and your heart so that when you come to make a decision you are already making the right choice because it is written in your heart it’s kind of like a piece of code an if statement I’m speaking to all the developers out there if this happens then do this you see God can write it he can code it in your heart so you don’t even have to think you already know no I’m not going to do that. You’re already pre-programmed because God has written it in your heart on what decision to make. But God says he can do that I will be their God and they shall be my people.

▶ 51:06 For they all shall know me from the least of them to the greatest of them says the Lord I will forgive their iniquity and their sin and I will remember it no more whatever you have done whatever sins you can’t forgive yourself of whatever sins you have done that you think cannot be forgiven God says I will forgive it and I will remember it no more I’m not going to bring it up to you I’m not going to try to make you feel bad let’s put it behind us let’s move to the goal of the what the bride being the bride of Christ. All shall know me. It’s not just the priests it’s not just the pastors it’s not just the big kahunas that get to be part of the bride of Christ no it is you it is us us just Christians that are seeking God that want to be part of that bride of Christ that body all shall know me from the least to the greatest.

What brought Israel victory?

▶ Watch this part (52:15)

Short answer: Uniting as one man, and going up to the house of God—then He delivered the enemy.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 52:15 In judges chapter 20 verse 3 all the men of Israel were gathered against Gibeah united together as one man they were defeated twice because they had their own sin and then all the children of Israel went up and came to the house of God and wept and they did that separated no they were what united they came to the house united and they wept united they groaned united and they sat there before the Lord and they fasted and they fasted what united. Together in one accord. And they offered burnt offerings and they offered burnt offerings what united. And peace offerings before the Lord and the children of Israel inquired. Divided no they are inquired united of the Lord saying shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of my brother.

▶ 53:19 And the Lord said go up for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand. So they got deliverance they got they were able to defeat. Their enemy because they were united. In Acts 2:2 chapter 2 I’m sorry chapter 2 verse 2 when the day of Pentecost had fully come they were all with one accord and in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting there appeared to them divided tongues and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance and we know that after this event there were three thousand people added to the church after Peter preached his message do we remember that and it started with what 120 people were what in what one accord.

Judges 20:26-28 (NKJV)

Then all the children of Israel, that is, all the people, went up and came to the house of God and wept. They sat there before the LORD and fasted that day until evening; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. So the children of Israel inquired of the LORD (the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days, and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, “Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of my brother Benjamin, or shall I cease?” And the LORD said, “Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.”

Why does unity matter?

▶ Watch this part (54:21)

Short answer: My people must humble themselves and pray; a house divided cannot stand.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 54:21 So we see here that being in one accord and being in unity is so important. It’s so important. Second Chronicles Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14 we know that we need to pray we know that we need to turn from our wicked ways right but I want to point out it says if my people what does that mean it means united. It means together in unity. Who are called by name will humble themselves themselves is talking about who united the church together. We need to be in unity and pray and seek my face turn from their wicked ways I will hear from heaven I will forgive their sin and heal their land who.

▶ 55:16 The united. Church. And now my eyes will be open to my ears attention to to prayer made in this place. We need. Unity we need unity in the church. We need to be united again Jesus says to the people that accused him of being casting out demons and then by beelzebub he says if a kingdom is divided against itself it cannot stand we know this scripture if a house is divided against itself it cannot stand if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided he cannot stand. And so we recognize here we know.

▶ 56:12 That if God’s house is divided if the church is divided we. Are not going to stand. We’re not going to last we’ve got to get back to unity and God is talking to the churches throughout America and next week we’ll probably be talking about what do we unite around and it’s pretty obvious what we unite around but we need to get back to unity not just unity for some purpose or be for the animals or for this purpose or for that person it’s a specific thing because the church is a specific thing that is created by Jesus Christ he’s Jesus said I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against my church that he built for a specific purpose so the unity that he creates around the church is for a specific purpose and united around a specific thing.

Is there hope for unity?

▶ Watch this part (57:13)

Short answer: Yes—Israel all drank from the rock, and the church can mostly agree on Jesus Christ.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 57:13 Not around our hobbies. Not around our message it’s around his message. And so there is hope for unity. If you look back in the desert. When they were complaining about this and you know I’m thinking you know I would have been complaining about the same stuff. You know they’re like we need water I’d be like I need water. Now they would take it a next step further like make something happen or I’m gonna you know we’re going to stone you. And that’s where you got to draw the line you come to God you say God I need this please. You ask for it and you keep asking you knock and you keep knocking you seek and you keep seeking right but we don’t cross the line and say God if you don’t do this I’m gonna burn your church down God if you don’t I’m gonna I’m gonna right.

▶ 58:17 I’m gonna reject that’s not how we that’s not how we approach God nobody’s gonna come and and try to give God alternatives that doesn’t work with God amen. But they didn’t have any water and this is the children of Israel in the desert they’re walking. They’re traveling to the promised land. They’ve just been delivered from Egypt. And the people contended with Moses and said give us water that we may drink. And God says to him you shall strike the rock and water will come out and the peep that the people may drink and first Corinthians 10 verse 1. As the musician comes as we prepare for our prayer time in closing first Corinthians 10 verse 1 they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them and that rock was Christ.

▶ 59:25 And on one end you could say oh. Everybody always wants the goodies from God. Everybody always wants the water from Jesus but on the other hand everybody was drinking from the water that. Uh in the desert and you say of course but you don’t understand it says they drank from that spiritual rock that was Jesus Christ they were all and that is like how it is today everybody is united that Jesus Christ is the one you go to for forgiveness of sin amen. For for love for all these things that is the message Jesus Christ his death on the cross he’ll forgive you he’ll accept you but after that is where we have the problem but at least.

▶ 1:00:20 The church right now can mostly. Agree on Jesus Christ so there is hope for unity. Amen there is hope for unity today we are united. On Jesus Christ we are united on partaking. And drinking of that spiritual rock that was Jesus that is Jesus Christ. And so God is asking the church today do we want to be part of the body and bride of Christ do you want to be part of God’s kingdom. Are you willing to abstain from dividing God’s kingdom using lies and planting evil in your heart. Are you willing to unite around Jesus Christ and truth. And God is asking that to us today let’s bow our heads this morning.
