Pastor David G. Kincer shows that Jesus went faithfully to the synagogue and read the Scriptures. He urges believers to read the Bible, go where truth is preached, and work at home and church. Jesus was anointed to heal the brokenhearted, free captives and restore sight, and the acceptable year of the Lord is now.

Did Jesus go to church?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: Yes. As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath; that is the sixth thing Jesus did that we have to hear.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:00 Now the sixth thing in Luke chapter four starting with verse 16 the sixth thing that Jesus spoke that Jesus did that we’ve got to hear it. Was his custom to go into the synagogue on Saturday Jesus had to fulfill every scripture every requirement that God put out to us or he couldn’t be the perfect land sacrifice for the sins of the world so it was his tradition his custom his habit to go to church every Saturday. Are you there and that’s backed up for the Bible they that go grow. Don’t forsake the assembling yourself together to promote for vote one another to do love and to good works and Christians who say they’re Christians and don’t go to church they are not listening to what Jesus is saying.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 4:16 (NKJV)

So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

— Luke 4:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00

What did Jesus do in the synagogue?

▶ Watch this part (1:02)

Short answer: He stood up to read the Scriptures, from the scroll of Isaiah. The word of God is imperative, but Christians won’t read it.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 1:02 Could that be an amen. Jesus and then he was in the synagogue and he they have scrolls all the scriptures are in scrolls Ezekiel scroll Psalm scroll Isaiah scroll and he goes over to the scrolls and he gets to scroll out and he opens it up and he’s so familiar because his custom was to go into the synagogue and read the scriptures and listening to others read the scriptures and so the scriptures are imperative when we assembled together could that be an amen alright and he went to Isaiah they had no numbers they had no chapters or anything and he knew exactly or a wall. So the word of God is very important the Bible says in Psalms 138 to that he says my word is exalted higher than my name and my name is higher than any night and my words above my name.

▶ 2:11 So the word God is imperative you can’t get Christians to read it they’ll go buy a Christian book out of the bookstore or they’ll go buy a secular book oh they’ll watch secular tv and all the rest and try to get answers from a lot for life there when they should be going to the book the Bible I. Was with a group this week and he asked me to share how something worked and on the way up to the front God just opened my eyes to how these people were not even an example to the people they’re trying to reach. God showed me as I was walking up they don’t read the Bible son they don’t pray. Most here don’t do it they don’t feed themselves how they going to feed the people they’re trying to reach they’re not an example to them.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 4:17 (NKJV)

And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

— Luke 4:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:02

What is the problem with kids today?

▶ Watch this part (3:12)

Short answer: Their parents don’t know what they’re doing, so the kids don’t know where they’re going.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:12 And so I spoke to them all about this. Anna. The problem with American kids is that their parents don’t know what they’re doing and so the kids don’t know where they’re going the parents don’t know where they’re gone so the kids don’t know where they’re going the parents are no examples of the kids don’t see an example. Christians they say they’re Christian and them go to church and don’t. Live and talk as an example in the home I said you know you guys you get on your kids for using profanity and you use profanity like there’s some magical age where you can’t okay to use profanity. You guys don’t like your kids on a tantrum and being out of control and yet you throw a tantrum and you’re out of control yelling at each other screaming at each other and disagreeing with each other in the home and the kids are hearing it and then you wonder what’s going on the American home knee the Christian home needs to buck up and start reading and following the word could that be an amen I.

Why must you go where truth is preached?

▶ Watch this part (4:31)

Short answer: If the truth is not being preached, how will you grow? You get anemic and weak, and you can’t be an example.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 4:31 Said you guys don’t even go to church and the ones that do go to church you go to a church where the truth is not being preached and if the truth is not being preached how in the world you gonna grow you. Don’t come in and undermine a person that’s that the authorities over them have put their to do the job you don’t do that publicly you go to them privately and disagree with them you don’t try to outshine the person that’s in charge could that be an amen. Somebody needs to say something oh. Yeah. This word is important Christians say they are Christians and they don’t read the word and they don’t pray how you you get up in the morning and I told them and you you eat breakfast but you don’t get up early enough to feed your spirit you don’t get into the word you don’t get in the prayer so you don’t drink anything of God and you don’t eat anything of God and through the day you are worthless in God.

▶ 5:38 You get anemic you get weak. Is that an amen and then your wanting to reach these people how are you going to reach these people if you’re not an example of what you’re trying to do for them. And I heard all kinds of excuses I excuses don’t work with me and God when I give God an excuse he just tears laughs at me. Don’t try to justify things buck up and change things we try to justify each other who else oh and so they vary now so-and-so needs to buck up and get with the program could that be an amen all. Of these things are available to us if we use them and if we don’t use them stop trying to justify everybody and yourself for the lack of obtaining.

What is the difference between love and truth?

▶ Watch this part (6:35)

Short answer: Christians think love is just being nice, but if you never share truth people stay the same.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 6:35 The opportunity that God gives you. Hallelujah I asked them I said do you guys know the difference between love and truth and they just look at me huh. You know the Christians think love is it love love love love covers a multitude of sin but truth set you free from sin and now it’s time Christians started being Christians and it’s time Americans started being Americans. So the word is exalted above his name and Jesus went right to the scriptures folks this is the first time he read the scriptures but all he preached was the scriptures are you there he preached the scriptures all scripture of God is inspired and is useful for what teaching you know I told these people the time before you start is preparation time you need to put time in to get a devotion to get something to give to these people don’t just get a little book from the bookstore and loulou go through the motions you got to get on your knees and get some power behind what you’re doing could that be an amen yeah.

Is the Bible enough?

▶ Watch this part (8:01)

Short answer: All Scripture is profitable for teaching and equips us for every good work; most books in the bookstore are filled with opinions.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:01 My gosh. That scriptures is profitable for teaching and every book in the book Bible bookstore is work most of them are worthless it’s filled with some truth and it’s filled with their opinions and if you can’t decipher the two you’re in trouble you need to go to the book you need to go to the good news for your news you need to go to the book for your wisdom and knowledge. It is profitable for conviction convincing if we’re going to convince people love it and gonna do it. The word is gonna do it. And if you don’t speak the word and you don’t know the word yourself and you don’t apply the word yourself you’re worthless to the people out there that you’re trying to reach you think you’re a light to the world because you love the sinner I love the homosexuals I don’t want to hurt their feelings I love the alcoholic and a drug addict and the prostitute oh I love them yeah.

▶ 9:13 And every time you’re around them the next day they’re the same why you never shared truth. Amen pause and think of that see why I. Said you guys don’t even know how to raise your kids I watch you guys discipline your kids and it’s a joke. Don’t do that I don’t tell me I told my kids don’t do it wait before they did it not a time for me to say I told you not to do that not tell me not to do they hate you messed up go to your room the Bible says stubbornness is in the heart of a child but the rod of correction will drive it far from them now you’re going to be the psychologist out there you’re going to believe the book.

▶ 10:09 Christians what are you gonna do. Now spanking isn’t going to kill them no lectures I gave my lectures before I got him to agree that this is what you can’t do and if you do you get a spanking you get a discipline you may have to sit in your room you may get more than a spanking you may have to sit in your room for the evening or a day whatever the Bible also says if you love your child you will discipline him many times many times a day. Discipline is important restraint is important. And when I was a teacher in the school I used restraints I never had to reward kids with candy. They were rewarded with a break when break time comes they didn’t learn the reward they didn’t get the break they stood right by me and watch everybody else playing.

▶ 11:08 And I didn’t use all these stores you’d be good we’re gonna get you prizes. Your prize is an education my friend. See we go to the world to find out what to do instead of the book. Are you with me. Alleluia. His word. Convinces corrects. The word corrects with discipline and trains in righteousness the whole thing is about righteousness is that an amen he decides what’s right and we agree to it and we see that we do it and our children do it and those around of us we show them this is the way to do it so that the servant of God is thoroughly equipped.

▶ 12:06 You know we want some. Mega preacher out the area you know purpose-driven book or you know life coach or whatever trying to give us answers and when this Bible equips us for was the Christian bookstores when the early church was growing there wasn’t any they went out and preached the gospel the gospel worked amen. The only place they had to go to get their information was the scriptures and until the catholics and the orthodox church came in with their theologies in the three hundred eighties the church was powerful and then they started following man’s. Doctrine they left the scriptures and started doing what men told them to do and they come with an icons and statues and all kinds of worthless rituals that mean nothing the word of God set you free the word of God he was you the word of God makes you wiser than your enemies the word of God will endure forever men’s doctrine will not do this stuff.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

— 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:01

Are Christians supposed to work?

▶ Watch this part (13:22)

Short answer: Yes. We’re not saved by works, but believing, repenting and praying are work; you have to work at your home, marriage and children.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:22 Amen. And it’s going to equip us for what every good work all we’re not saved by works oh grow up. When you got saved you worked you had to believe that’s work you had to repent you had to pray that’s work you had to ask Jesus to forgive you that’s work don’t give me this nonsense about not by works. And if you’re going to train up children in the way they should go and this is what I told this group they look over the main word in that scripture. Teach my word diligently to your children I said did any of you know what diligent means it means hard work you parents you can’t come in at night and just oh my me time.

▶ 14:29 You got to put work into that home work into that marriage and work into those children. And. The church does too people aren’t going to say bye our prayers people aren’t going to get saved by our worship people are gonna get saved by us getting the word of God out that can save them he has chosen the foolishness of preaching to save and if we don’t get the word out there gotten I want to be renewed they’re not going to be convicted they’re not going to be equipped and music groups won’t do that minors won’t do that it’s the word of God that will do that his custom was to go to church you know folks God placed me in church I.

▶ 15:21 Got saved and similarly God church but after a year I knew more than they did because I the Bible instead in it they never read it they just come in to do little pentecostal thing when the presence came ah I got their fix and went home. But when I got filled with the Holy Ghost he drove me into the work he didn’t let me say no to reading the word I had to get up I had to be at work at 6:00 on my job sometimes so I had to get up an hour before that and spend time with God. Because the Holy Ghost made me so in a year you began to learn a lot so. Then God led me to living faith church in santa ana and God placed me there and I stayed there.

Should you church-hop?

▶ Watch this part (16:18)

Short answer: No. He says if God put him in a church he would stay, because God doesn’t give life or power if you don’t do it His way.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 16:18 And if my wife wanted me to leave that church I’d say goodbye God put me here you knew that are you there. This is where God put me. Maybe you can run off to any old church I’m not gonna go to no church whether it’s dead I have touched life and I’m gonna keep it even the dry time I know the dry times gonna come go by and life’s coming around the corner amen. And. This thing about go to the church your husband goes to them you better go to the church your spiritual husband put you in he’s interested in your future spiritually. You can’t just go to a church and say oh I’m here I’m here God places in the church as he sees fit where what and how.

▶ 17:21 Amen. And we’ve gotten away from God we think we’d just go anywhere. You know God don’t give you life if God don’t give you power you don’t have any and if you’re not doing it his way what’s he how’s he get your attention by backing from you in Luke 4 he read these scriptures and he selected out of Isaiah 61:1 and 2 and when he was finished reading it it says this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears read this with me this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears I read it with me again this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Where was it fulfilled in their ears he had already been exercising it the crowds were coming to him he was delivering people he was people were getting saved people were listening to his word but he says to this group this day you’ve heard it and today.

What was Jesus anointed to do?

▶ Watch this part (18:30)

Short answer: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 18:30 You’ve heard it what are you gonna do it. Let’s look and see what it says the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me we saw back there he was filled with the Holy Ghost right the spirit led him into the desert then the spirit led him out of the desert and the spirit led him to preach the gospel and heal the sick and raise the dead and all this stuff and now he’s telling these guys after the spirit was upon him and he doing all this stuff he says this scripture is fulfilled I’ve been doing this stuff. And God has set me apart to preach the gospel to the poor it isn’t talking about pouring money pouring food it’s talking about poor in spirit people that don’t have any spiritual knowledge that are spiritually hungry that are spiritually thirsty spiritually dry God filled me with the Holy Ghost to preach the gospel to these spiritually poor deprived people amen.

▶ 19:32 Read your Bible. Blessed are the poor in spirit one gospel just said poor the other gospel says poor in spirit it explains it to you and we should have a cry in our heart to help people that are poor spiritually. Secondly he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted the widow’s son this widow in in the city of village of en. Jesus passed by on this widow her husband had died her other children had died and her last son died they were carrying him in a coffin to be buried and she’s weeping and mourning and wailing she’s wailing that’s what they did knows dave.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 4:18 (NKJV)

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

— Luke 4:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 18:30

Can Jesus heal the brokenhearted?

▶ Watch this part (20:25)

Short answer: Yes. He had compassion on the widow and raised her son; He can heal a family, marriage, national or financial crisis.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 20:25 And Jesus had compassion and saw the woman she’s broken she’s crushed she’s bruised and a widow back in those days and this wasn’t a little kid from the scriptures and a widow without a child to help them and a husband to help them live was in serious trouble back in those days. No welfare no nothing I mean they they were in serious difficulties so Jesus this woman is crushed she’s broken emotionally mentally spiritually and Jesus goes over and he didn’t asked her do you have faith that I could do this. Hey where do we get that garbage from tv. Radio.

▶ 21:18 Christian books. He walks up to. This woman and he raises that boy up from the grave to heal this woman’s problem he had to heal this boy and bring him back to life. Are you there so he got 2 out of 1 the boy got raised from the dead to help his mom he’s actually a man and the mom heart was healed amen. Folks that’s what they need to hear out there if you’re in a crisis.

▶ 22:13 Jesus can heal you a family crisis a marriage crisis a nation of crisis and financial crisis whatever is bruising you and crushing you and weighing heavily on you he can come and heal you and man can’t do that with her 12-step programs and her 10 step programs in her 7 step program it’s the power the word and the power the spirit thirdly to proclaim liberty to the captives he didn’t say set the captives free he didn’t say heal the captive. We read that all wrong he said proclaim you tell the captives that they are free it’s like these Jews in the concentration camps when the American soldiers came they were free but those Jews had to get up and walk out of that concentration camp.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 7:12-15 (NKJV)

And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.

— Luke 7:12-15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:25

Who are the captives?

▶ Watch this part (23:18)

Short answer: When we sin we are slaves to sin; the gospel proclaims that through Jesus’ death we are free, but people must accept the freedom.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 23:18 They had to accept the freedom and the Bible says that we when we sin were a slave or in captivity to sin and the gospel comes along and proclaims through Jesus is death on the cross you are free from the bondage of Satan and the bondage of sin but you have to accept it get up and walk away from it is that an amen it’s no automatic healing. You proclaim liberty to the captives and they’ve got to respond and walk away from the captivity. Amen. With those American soldiers there there was no power that could come and take these Jews freedom away and with the authority of Jesus Christ and all the angels of heaven that is backing us there is no power that can keep sinners and people under the bondage of Satan if they decide to walk away there is no power that can keep them captivity but they have to walk away that’s what repentance is.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 8:34-36 (NKJV)

Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

— John 8:34-36 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:18

Who are the blind?

▶ Watch this part (24:37)

Short answer: The blind leading the blind with their ideas; Jesus recovers sight so we can understand the word.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 24:37 Recovery of sight to the blind remember Jesus said the blind lead the blind and they all want falls into the blind people want to lead blind people with their nonsense and with their ideas instead of the word of God and what happens is all of them fall want into the ditch they get ruined they get hurt they get harmed. It amazes me how Christians think they know something and they don’t know beans they haven’t looked at themselves in the mirror they haven’t went to the desert and got tested by Satan to find out their level of christianity get embarrassed about it and buck up wow that was good.

▶ 25:31 Now they they want to get saved and go tell everybody else what to do you better go to the desert and let God tell you what to do so that you can come out of the desert telling them what to do from the king who told you what to do and how to do it wow that was good are you living in. Revelations the lukewarm church they said we have need of nothing I’m rich I’ve needed nothing so Jesus says you are blind you. Can’t see that you are poor and wretched and miserable. You’re so blind you can’t see that your spirit you are a spiritual poverty wreck you are wretched you are a miserable person and you want to pass your misery on to other people you want to pass your poverty on to other people.

▶ 26:36 And Jesus said you need to buy I said so that you can see how do you buy I said you get into the word you get into prayer you get into worship you get into spiritual things when you exercise spiritual principles you are purchasing spiritual rewards now that was good do you understand that if you don’t buy this I said you’re gonna stay poor spiritually. Miserable. And you’re gonna lead people down your pathway because you think you have something to tell them and they’re so messed up they can’t see that you have nothing.

▶ 27:28 Are you that. Blind leading blind they can’t see you can’t see. But he says I’ll recover the blind and you can see and understand the word of God you can see how to walk this walk you can see where you’re going and you can know how to get there. Number five to set at liberty those that are bound see here he proclaim liberty to the slave of Satan and a slave of sin but here he said that set them free who were bound these words are almost identical they’re just a different word this one has only used one time in the Bible it’s amazing suppressed. Bruised crushed. And he set these at liberty he remembered the Bible a story about the stooped over woman.

What about the woman bent over 18 years?

▶ Watch this part (28:27)

Short answer: Jesus cast out the spirit that bowed her; so many Christians walk stooped over.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 28:27 For 18 years she stooped over couldn’t straighten up so many Christians have been walking stooped over so so many years and Jesus come by. And he cast the demon out of this woman that was causing the stupas. And she could stand up but he also freed her from Satan he told the people this woman has been in this condition she’s been bound for 18 years and should not I set her free from that infirmity and from the bonds of Satan himself. What is the acceptable year of the Lord?

▶ Watch this part (29:35)

Short answer: Now. The kingdom is now; today is the day of salvation, not tomorrow.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 29:35 Number 6 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord remember the gospel is when now it’s been now since Jesus came we’re not looking for it it’s here we need to possess it it is the acceptable year of the Lord young people old people people that are not here that’s going to be listen to this on. What testimony does he share?

▶ Watch this part (32:33)

Short answer: A young man God strengthened through his problem was given a wife and a beautiful life with two kids.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 32:33 And then this girl walks in just a few months later and that’s a that’s a good-looking woman let me tell you I seen her another picture this woman is a good-looking woman and he is a very handsome man okay. When she saw how this guy had a love for God that he wasn’t depressed he didn’t give up on life he wasn’t cast down he was just ready to go through life with what life had dealt him she said that got my attention and then he saw that she was a committed Christian in love with Jesus and so he gets up he says and I hobbled over to her I.

▶ 33:27 Mean the story is just great and when he did that she says he had such confidence this guy wasn’t distracted from where he was gone at all and so I wanted to know him more and so she has to literally carry him to get his prosthetics back on and she has to carry him where the prosthetics don’t work and a photographer took this picture not knowing that was going to go nationwide I mean they’ve been on television and everything and both of them are solid Christian people and my point is this I don’t care how difficult your life comes God will get you through it amen God didn’t grow his legs back on me they gave him the character the strength to go on with life and he got him a beautiful woman you know all these guys their generation is going to churches to find a found a woman and getting on old he found this woman when she came to visit because her she was a family acquaintance.

▶ 34:37 God not only gave him the strength to deal with this problem he gave him a beautiful life to live life and they have two kids now in that powerful that is a testimony of the power of what Jesus said today this scripture is fulfilled if you will hear it I will be there for you no matter what situation you’re in. Alleluia. If you want to be that kind of Christian today just stand with me and let’s sing God is here.
