Jesus Teaches Hidden Secrets — May 29, 2022: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Jesus revealed things hidden since the foundation of the world through parables. We are salt and light by good works; the law stands, its weightier matters are justice, mercy and faith; anger without cause brings judgment, so reconcile first and let God search your heart.

▶ 17:29 Those in who don’t believe travel the world searching for something anything to satisfy. To bring more meaning to escape the pain. But every path every new method comes back void it comes back empty because they don’t seek me they don’t seek their creator the giver of life more abundantly. If you seek me you shall find me if you search for me with all of your heart you may think that you don’t know how to reach me. But I’m not far away. You may not know how to pray but I’m always ready to hear you. It doesn’t take much.
▶ 18:20 I am always near you but if you would just reach out to me. Out to me in the dark times in the good times I am ready to visit you I’m ready to speak to you. Do not run away do not run away. ▶ 22:34 Let’s bow our heads. Mr Barnes we can hear you if you’d like to pray go ahead or mrs Barnes. Oh. Yes.
What have we learned about Jesus’ gatherings?
Short answer: He was a light to the ends of the earth, involved believers, taught the crowds who returned, and led with authority.
▶ 23:56 You may find your seats and invite Pastor Kincer up share the word this morning. Okay it’s been quite a few weeks. Since we taught on this subject. Of how Jesus ran a church service. We found first of all that he went out to them he went to the synagogues that didn’t even like him he went to the temple in Jerusalem he went to cities and villages he went to homes and he went to individuals. And they came to him also. Once they heard his teaching once they saw what he could do they came to him and he went to other nations even though Jesus said I’ve only come to the lost sheep of the house of Israel he ministered to the Gentiles in Judah and he went to seraphinia to minister he went to the capitalist minister which was filled with Gentiles.
▶ 25:02 Amen and that’s what the prophets prophesied that he would be a light to the ends of the earth he was he involved believers in his ministry he didn’t stop with 12 apostles he didn’t stop with 70 others and he didn’t stop with individuals who were casting out demons and preaching the gospel he even said at the end of mark these signs shall follow them that believe. Not just apostles and pastors and evangelists and teachers but believers can cast out demons believers can speak in languages believers can lay hands on the sick and they will recover and if ate drink any deadly thing or some deadly animal nothing will hurt them I will protect them that promise Jesus was clearly to believers and if you’re a believer wake up Jesus wants to use you in this world we also found that he came they came to him to be healed as well as to hear his teaching.
▶ 26:08 They didn’t just come to be healed once they’re healed they could have went home and stayed away but they came the Bible says over and over to hear his teaching to hear his word his word was that powerful in fact he spoke with short. Clear words. With authority. To back up what he spoke and church today every believer can speak the word of God and Jesus will back up the word that he spoke two thousand years ago it’s not the speaker it is the power of the word amen so don’t ever think of yourself too small if you’re a believer think big could that be an amen.
▶ 27:00 Yes he led with authority when he told the multitudes to set in groups of fifties they said in groups of fifties. When he told the twelve apostles to serve these people and the crowd the big apostles that were doing miracles and preaching the gospel he told them to serve the food and they did amen when he spoke. People responded. His name is that great as we heard in our songs today. When he told the sick to go home or go to the temple and offer the sacrifice they did what he said to do he Jesus was a tremendous leader because he knew what was right and he could back up everything that he spoke and he can back it up in your life and my life.
What did Jesus say He would utter?
Short answer: Things kept secret from the foundation of the world, spoken in parables and expounded to His disciples.
▶ 28:00 Today we’re going to look at another. Aspect of Jesus running a church service. He said in mark. Or Matthew I’m sorry 1335. I will utter things kept secret things that have been a mystery from the foundation of the world. Now much of the church world wants to give Paul credit for using the word mystery but where did Paul get his mysteries from Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the one that came and spoke the secrets the mysteries that were hidden in the Old Testament from the foundation of the world from the creation of the world and the twelve apostles and Paul and those that followed only.
▶ 28:54 Spoke what Jesus had revealed to them and Paul didn’t have no special Revelation in God Jesus gave it to all of them and let’s take a look. At Matthew 13:34. Without a parable. Spoken not to the multitudes. And when alone. He expounded all things to his disciples a disciple is a disciplined student follower of Christ. And it’s not just his 12 apostles he was addressing he’s addressing those that followed him because you remember in John 6 many of his disciples. Left him when he said you must drink of my blood and eat of my body and they go wow this is a this is a tough saying and they left but he called them his disciples.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 13:34-35 (NKJV)
All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
— Matthew 13:34-35 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 28:00 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does being salt mean?
Short answer: Salt flavors, preserves and heals—our good works.
▶ 29:55 And so he. Opens our understanding to those that are disciplined enough to read his word and follow him he expounded all things to his disciples now a parable as we know is an illustration of a moral or spiritual truth okay can be a natural illustration can be. Any kind of an illustration that Christ used so with that in mind. Let us continue in Matthew the great sermon on the mount the sermon above all sermons. Jesus said you are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its flavor how shall it be seasoned. It is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under the foot of men so the natural illustration is the salt.
▶ 30:54 The moral truth and spiritual truth is you. You are the salt so we look at what the salt does. The salt not only flavors food it makes it taste good. And the Bible says when you speak that your speech always be seasoned with salt full of grace. But it also salt is a disinfectant it kills germs. It is a pesticide. It kills the worms and the bugs that want to eat the plants in the garden. It is a preservative. You put salt and we did that down south in kentucky in the appalachian mountains they would kill that hog and they would salt it and put it in a smokehouse.
▶ 31:50 My dad never used the smoke others did he used the salt I hated the salt and I hated the smoke but I love the meat. But that preserves it and all winter long that meat was set out in the smokehouse open in the air and the bacteria to not get into it to rot that meat away amen and he says you are the a preservative and it is a fertilizer sulfate ammonia is a form of salt that will cause plants to grow and be rich in green color and chlorophyll. And salt is a healer. If you get a cut and all that people live on the seashore all they would do is just go in the ocean.
▶ 32:44 The salt water would kill the germs and start the healing process. And heal that cut that wound. So. Salt’s flavor is good works as he continues in the next parable. And we fight against Satan that sickness of sin we fight against sin we are fighters against Satan in the kingdom of darkness we are preservers of the kingdom of light and God’s word amen and by his word people they hear it can be what healed from their sin healed and delivered from the bondages of the kingdom of darkness and he says you are the salt he didn’t say he was. You believers are the salt of the earth so let’s go on here in Matthew 5 to the next verse.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:13 (NKJV)
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
— Matthew 5:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 30:54 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does being light mean?
Short answer: You are the light of the world; light dispels darkness, and good works can’t be hidden.
▶ 33:44 He says you are the light of the world okay the light is the example. You are the moral and spiritual. Result of that example okay. Light you are the light of the world a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do they light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lamp stand. And it gives light to all that are in that house. It gives light to all in that house let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works so light is the example you through God’s good works. Are that light.
▶ 34:37 To the world around you. Amen you’re dispelling the darkness light dispels darkness. Light has no shadow as we learned a few months ago. Light does not cast a shadow. When Paul said we’re not under law but under grace. We are under the civil laws of God the spiritual laws of God and the wise laws of God the laws we are not under are the shadow laws that pointed to good things to come amen the church the followers the believers are not a shadow of things to come they are the things to come amen you’re the light of the world. Don’t hide your light. And good works is very important for you to maintain your salvation and others see God working in you and ask of you as Paul said the hope that is within you without saying a word just by your lifestyle just how you speak just how you live they will inquire why are you like that and then you can tell them about Christ and his word.
▶ 35:53 So we are the light and we show it by our good works amen. Light is also necessary for plant life to grow. You got to have light you can get a dark night overshadowed with clouds no moon no nothing down in the appalachian mountains. And you could light a match. And it could be seen for a mile or more away. Even though it was a small light a small light that didn’t show anything around it yet you could see that light right now in America the church seems to be just a little match. But see a little match is still a light that gets attention to it and God’s going to put the wood on or he’s going to put the oil in and that light is going to get brighter and brighter till you can see everything around you could that be an amen.
▶ 37:05 He is the light of the world God is interested in lighting up the world through his people. Amen. Hallelujah you are an important part of this a very important part and as we do good works it brings other people to God because when they live in sin sin has payments. You know you drink alcohol you’re going to get liver problems you’re going to make bad judgment you know you’re going to get into fights that you would never have gotten into anyway and taking drugs and all that there is you reap what you sow is still true and so people get fed up enough and they hurt themselves enough they turn to somebody who has the light. Amen. Hallelujah I’m glad you’re excited today.
▶ 38:03 Good works can’t be hidden they follow you wherever you go not just in a Sunday morning church service at your work in your neighborhood good works are seen they cannot be hidden. Now let’s go to the next verse very important here very important. Jesus said I did not come to destroy the law and the prophets. But to fulfill. Paul wrote we’re not under law we’re under grace Jesus. Authenticates that the law and the prophets never stop. The shadow laws do. Men’s laws do. Laws of the flesh do. But not God’s laws. Till heaven and earth shall pass.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
— Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:44 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Did Jesus authenticate the law?
Short answer: Not one jot or tittle will pass till all is fulfilled; use Bible terminology to understand it.
▶ 38:56 One jot or one tittle the smallest thing in the law will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled so Jesus gives us the illustration. And the fulfillment. Is those who obey. The illustration. Amen without a parable he did not speak unto them. Jesus authenticates the law and he authenticates the prophets these people that say the Old Testament is not for us today they just don’t know their Bible and they don’t have the Holy Ghost guiding them through the Bible you cannot go with men’s intellect and understand the Bible you’ve got to go with the spirit of God.
▶ 39:49 And that spirit will show you spiritual things and spiritual understanding. You can’t just say well the greek word means this and the context is this when these people on. Facebook tell me the context I say give me the context of Hosea I will call my son out of Egypt and so they go and they say well that’s Israel God’s son I said wrong Jesus said it’s him. Going into Egypt and out of Egypt in the middle of all those verses he puts in a prophetic hidden treasure are you with me you can’t justify everything with context and you can’t justify everything with the hebrew word means this what does God say the word means. See God defines love as some as an action that does no harm to others not just an affection and an admiration you know.
▶ 40:50 You got to use Bible terminology to understand the unders the words and the teachings of the Bible so Jesus authenticates the law and it’s going to be here until the end when he restores all things it says in acts chapter 3 he’s going to stay in the heavens until the restoration of all things spoken by the mouth of the prophets since the world began. Whoever breaks one of the least the smallest the jot and tittle of these laws and teaches men so. Shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven but whosoever does and teaches them he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven so what is the least.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:17-18 (NKJV)
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
— Matthew 5:17-18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 38:56 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What are the weightier matters?
Short answer: Justice, mercy and faith; unless your righteousness exceeds the Pharisees’ you will not enter.
▶ 41:49 In Matthew 23:23. Jesus said the weightier the important matters of the law are justice. Faith and mercy. And the least is paying tithes given to the poor or give an offer. The lease and he said what they that keep the least. Shall be called what great but we can’t just rely on tithes and offerings and helping the poor we’ve got to have the weightier matters also justice is one of God’s great high priorities for his church and the people of this earth. Could that be an amen not just believing on God but standing for justice standing for what’s right.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 23:23 (NKJV)
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
— Matthew 23:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 41:49 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Matthew 5:20 (NKJV)
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
— Matthew 5:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:50 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Has grace always been given?
Short answer: Noah found grace; the Pharisees had faith but never obeyed—righteousness is the goal.
▶ 42:51 Unless your righteousness now here is the goal of God from the beginning. That people would live right and treat people right. Okay faith comes by hearing the word but that faith points to doing what is right. Grace God had great gave grace to Adam and Eve didn’t he he said they would die the day that they ate and they didn’t die was that grace in action absolutely there’s no dispensation of grace some certain period where grace abounds. God has always given grace unto people amen did he give grace and decaying. Cain killed his brother from anger and hatred and God did not kill him either God at that time was the judge and jury.
▶ 43:49 Did God give grace to Noah it flowed out says Noah found what grace in the eyes of the Lord the dispensation of grace has been since the creation of the world and it will be to the end of the world God favors us and and you know God loves us he wants us to come to him so he’s very patient and very gracious to us isn’t that true hallelujah. So righteousness. A light. Shining in this world they’re seeing our good works of righteousness. Unless your righteousness exceeds the scribes and the Pharisees. You will by now means enter the kingdom of heaven the scribes and the Pharisees. They knew the the law.
▶ 44:44 They had faith in God they believed in God they believed in a messiah that was coming. The Pharisees believed in spirits and life after death they just never obeyed the law they believed in the law but they did not obey the law and he says unless your righteousness exceeds the scribes the scribes to be ascribed you had to memorize the whole pentateuch the first four books of the Bible. So they knew scriptures and they could quote scriptures but they did not live scriptures they did not show the world. Good works of God are you with me. They disobeyed the laws and the prophets and they killed Jesus. These faithful people that had faith in God they killed Jesus.
▶ 45:40 They had him executed. So faith isn’t what everybody is raising it up to be in this world righteousness is. Amen. And faith should be in Jesus and his perfect laws that convert the soul Psalms 19:7. The law of the Lord is perfect complete total and it converts the soul hallelujah just doesn’t show us what sin is it is a conversion tool of God. Now. As long as you are repenting. Jesus came with the message that John the baptist has repent. For the kingdom of heaven is at hand repent and believe the gospel.
▶ 46:36 Yes we make mistakes. But repentance keeps us in the realm of righteousness isn’t that true yes when you’re open and honest with God and say God I messed up again Jesus help me Lord deliver me from this that erases your sin when you ask for forgiveness when you ask God to cleanse you from sin the same sin over and over again he does and your the rep the records in the book are clean but if you don’t repent and you say I don’t see what’s wrong with. Then that changes everything. It’s not what we see what’s wrong with it’s what God sees. What is wrong could that be an amen. Now. In Matthew 5:21-25.
Scripture in this part
Genesis 6:8 (NKJV)
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
— Genesis 6:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:49 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What did Jesus say about anger?
Short answer: Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause is in danger of judgment; calling him fool, of the council.
▶ 47:39 A very powerful parable here. He starts out with the illustration. And this is a tricky one. Fools most Christians. It was said by them of old time. Abraham Moses. Noah. You shall not kill all who kill shall be in danger of the judgment the civil courts. To arrest you bring you in accuse you. Find you innocent or guilty and then pass judgment. He uses this. Illustration. To talk about a parable. Of morals and spiritual truth.
▶ 48:35 He switches. To the peril. He switches to the fulfillment. To the moral truth to the spiritual truth. He says but I say but I say. Let me know we need to listen to what he says. Not what preachers say you know when the bereans searched the scriptures to find out if what Paul told them was truth. Paul did not say. You’re calling me a false prophet you’re telling me I’m teaching lies no Paul encouraged them to search the scriptures. Amen. To see if what Paul was teaching them was truth so Paul always spoke in the realm of the Bible of the scriptures amen.
▶ 49:35 But people still twist Paul’s teaching. To their own harm their own hurt. I say whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment the civil court. Now the key word here. Is brother. Oh. Not committing it not anyone committing a murder but how you treat your brother did Jesus give us a new commandment. Yeah and what was that commandment. Love one another love the people that follow Christ. So he switches whosoever is angry with his fellow brother who is innocent.
▶ 50:34 The brother’s innocent. But this brother is mad at him. Angry at him and you know when you lose your temper you can physically cause harm to yourself and others can’t you you can verbally shoot your mouth off and say things you wouldn’t say. Powerful huh. See he switches this is the moral and spiritual understanding of this illustration. Then he goes on. And remember this brother is innocent. There’s no reason for him to be angry at him. Whosoever shall say reika is in danger of the counsel the word reika is a word of profanity back in those days like they use profanity today they call them people names and and uh cursing at them and cursing them out and so forth if you use profanity.
▶ 51:43 And talk of curse your brother out and call him names who is innocent you’re in danger of the council that’s the Sanhedrin that’s the church authority the church should deal with that. Amen Christians should not be going around. Using profanity and talking and degrading other brothers and sisters amen. Now. Or whosoever shall say you fool. Is in danger of hell fire when I preach in third world countries I use the word fool. And they correct me and say we don’t use that word and the reason they don’t use that word because of this verse. And so I have to explain to them.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:21-22 (NKJV)
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
— Matthew 5:21-22 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:39 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Didn’t Jesus call people fools?
Short answer: Yes, the hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, and the foolish virgins who were unprepared.
▶ 52:38 It’s cute. But if you know your Bible. Jesus called the scribes and the Pharisees fools. Matthew 23:23. Called him fools. And he says you convert people to make them two times the children of hell fire than you are. Jesus friendly told them they were fools because they did not. Apply their faith to obey God. And they weren’t going to heaven at all they were going to hell so if Jesus used the word fool. He’s not talking about just the word is he. Let’s go to the ten virgins the parable of the ten virgins five were what wise and five were what fools.
▶ 53:39 They were fools because they didn’t prepare for the coming of the bridegroom the coming of the Lord. And the door was shut and they couldn’t get in the same thing with the scribes and the Pharisees you are fools when you believe a bright groom is coming Jesus is returning and you are not prepared to meet him. So. The word fool used here is saying this innocent brother is not going to heaven. Saying this innocent brother who has done nothing wrong is going to hell. Let that sink in. Now.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 23:17 (NKJV)
Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
— Matthew 23:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 52:38 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Matthew 25:10-12 (NKJV)
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
— Matthew 25:10-12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 53:39 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What if your brother has something against you?
Short answer: Leave your gift and be reconciled first; everyone who loves is born of God.
▶ 54:34 He continues with. The fulfillment the moral and spiritual understanding. So if you bring your gift to the altar. And remember your brother. Has all against you what brother. The one you were angry with for no reason. The one you cursed out and called them names for no reason. The one you said was a false prophet. Going to hell leading people astray. Occult. How many know Jesus said by your word you will be justified and by your word you shall be condemned we’re not just justified by the blood and justified by grace and justified by faith we’re also justified by our lifestyle.
▶ 55:33 And our speech. Could that be on amen but people leave out things that. They don’t like they just take the things they like. And so this brother who is innocent. Doesn’t like you being angry with him and mistreating him and verbally abusing him and you remember your brother is saying I didn’t do nothing what did I do to you. And you’re in the temple and you’re offering a sacrifice. He says stop offering the sacrifice and go do what the sacrifice is purpose to perform go get right with your brother. Apologize for your anger apologize for your verbal abuse apologize for calling him a false prophet a cult.
▶ 56:30 A person that’s going to hell and leading people with others to help. My it’s quite is it quiet on facebook. You see he spoke by parables and you’ve got to understand when he’s talking he’s given a illustration of a moral and spiritual truth. And that is the truth. Love your neighbor as yourself but Jesus gave a bump up on that love your brother in fact John said. If a man does not love his brother if a man hates his brother and he says he knows God he is lying. The truth isn’t in him wow.
▶ 57:23 John makes it very plain. Everyone that what believes is known of God and born of God or everyone that loves is born of God and knoweth God. Which statement was true the last one. Leave your gift before the altar first be reconciled to your brother that you offended. That you I mean this brother is not even offended he’s he’s strong. He’s just serving God. He doesn’t let people’s words and people’s anger. Detour him from doing the will of God have you met those kind we need more of those kind don’t we.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
— Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 54:34 (quoted; reference not named in the message)1 John 4:7 (NKJV)
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
— 1 John 4:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 57:23 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why examine ourselves at communion?
Short answer: Many are weak, sick and die early for not discerning the Lord’s body.
▶ 58:21 Yes oh they looked at me wrong oh come on. We are more than conquerors in this world in this life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Okay so. Leave your gift there. Now this. Coincides with first Corinthians 11. When Paul is addressing taking the lord’s supper. The cup. Of the blood the New Testament of Christ and the bread that is the body. That took the beating took the shame took the blame and died and wrote again. And he says. Examine yourself before you take.
▶ 59:13 The communion. Of the cup and the bread. Because many of you are weak many of you are sick and many of you have died before your time. For not discerning the lord’s body. The lord’s body is not just the body that died on the cross the lord’s body is what his people. And when you mistreat his people when you mistreat a brother who is innocent. When you mistreat and you talk about. And you abuse a brother who is innocent in God. It can open the door. For weakness. In your spiritual life it can open the door for Satan to put sickness on your life God doesn’t do that God can’t do evil God uses Satan to do the dirty work like al capone use his henchmen to do the dirty work God uses Satan because God can’t hurt God can’t harm and when you see in the Bible God.
▶ 1:00:30 You know had them to kill the men women and children it was their sin that caused that and God. Just gave them the payment for their sin which Satan carries out the death angel. At the in Egypt. That came to kill all the firstborn. You see. God couldn’t kill them. God only does good. So Satan was that death and destroyed. And Jesus by the way said that through death. He destroyed him that had the power of death that is the Devil amen. Jesus put all that under his feet are you with me hallelujah.
▶ 1:01:26 And I I remind people of that quite often. When you go to take communion table you better examine yourself have I said something about a brother in a that’s innocent have I said something about a family member that’s innocent have I done physical harm to them have I done any kind of harm to them through the communion you can be forgiven and cleansed or you can hide that sin and open the door for weakness sickness and an early death and church I have seen. Quite a few people that I know that did this that died early. Agree with your adversary quickly. Now he’s going back to.
Scripture in this part
1 Corinthians 11:29-30 (NKJV)
For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
— 1 Corinthians 11:29-30 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 59:13 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does agree with your adversary mean?
Short answer: If guilty, admit you’re wrong; he rejects the purgatory doctrine drawn from it.
▶ 1:02:21 The illustration. Your. Context. In a court case agree with your adversary quickly if you’re guilty don’t get a lawyer to fight it. Just admit you’re wrong. At least at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge the court system the judicial system the judge deliver you to the officer and you be cast into prison and you shall by no means come out until you’ve paid the outermost firing. The uttermost fine the uttermost payment. Okay and that’s what eternal judgment is when we. Sin and we die in our sin or we as believers mistreat.
▶ 1:03:19 Righteous people. We’re going to pay the eternal price. Of. The lake of fire forever. Now the catholics use this to you to come up with a doctrine called purgatory. You know you’re not really bad you’re not really good so you’re sentenced to purgatory until your payment’s made then you get out. He is not talking about that at all he is talking right back to the court case. And remember this judge. People want to blame God for what’s happening in the world if there is a God they will say why is all this evil why does he allow all this evil. Why is he allowing the destruction of the family the destruction of a nation.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 5:25-26 (NKJV)
Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
— Matthew 5:25-26 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:02:21 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Who is to blame for destruction of teenagers?
Short answer: Not God—parents, voters and bad leaders; he contrasts accidents, gun deaths and abortion.
▶ 1:04:13 Destruction of teenagers. Why is he allowing it. They see we we want to justify our responsibility by blaming somebody and who else is more. Higher to blame than God himself but if they knew their Bible they would know that yes at the beginning God was judge and jewelry. He was the executor. But when Noah came along he gave the responsibility of judgment to people he says you people correct wrong people you right people correct the wrong. Isn’t that right Genesis. Chapter 12 I believe it says it plainly. 12 or 13.
▶ 1:05:06 And then Moses’s law comes along and says the same thing. Trial by jury people. Correct people. And so it’s Americans voting for bad government. Bad leaders it’s parents not doing their job. It’s why their children are going out and killing other children. Going out and taking drugs and alcohol and dropping out of school and committing suicide. You know there was 11 people I mean 19 people. Were shot by a 18 year old boy. My first question is where were the parents.
▶ 1:05:58 What kind of an example did the parents give them what kind of upbringing did those parents give that 18 year old because God says you’re not a man you’re not accountable for your sins until you are 20 years old your parents and the civil authorities are your parents are there to correct you and if they don’t listen to the parent you take them to the civil authorities and they are corrected by the civil authorities until they can go back and follow their parents right laws right judgments are you there. See we got a mess in America. They want to blame the gun. Because of political reasons as we all know both sides start on this gun thing every time there’s a mass shooting. Both sides start on this gun thing.
▶ 1:06:52 But let me tell you this. 11 teenagers every day die from auto accidents or other accidents from texting. While they’re driving or doing something. In two days you surpassed the mass shooting at the school in texas and yet no one says anything and they don’t take away smartphones. That was a kicker you missed it. They don’t take away smartphones but they want to take away guns. And if you live downtown detroit like I had to growing up in my teenage years you better have a gun in your house. Those gangs and those evil people they the only thing they understand is brute force. Hallelujah.
▶ 1:07:46 You know we kill a million babies every year in the womb. Which is a far cry from 11 being shot and yet there’s no outcry. Are you with me. We let Black Lives Matter. And antifa. Burn businesses burn civil buildings loot and destroy. And stand by and watch. See on one side we are promoting. Crime. In california. It’s hard to even get them arrested because of the law passed about 10 years ago. And criminals are set free.
▶ 1:08:41 Under the disguise of it was a not violent crime well they’re doing something that destroys people whether they actually destroyed them or not. And so we have this two-sided thing going on in America and this parable. Addresses it love your neighbor as yourself and love people that are living right but in America today we are silencing people that choose to live right. And we are promoting people that choose to live wrong. And until they correct this we’re going to keep going downhill in America. As the musicians come. I challenge you today. There’s a verse in the Bible.
How do we let God deal with our hearts?
Short answer: Search me, O God; the Holy Spirit operates with an anesthetic, then confess and be cleansed.
▶ 1:09:38 That says search me o God. Psalms 139:23. And know my heart today. Try me o savior know my thoughts I pray see if there be some wicked way in me. And cleanse me from every sin. And set me free because that’s his promise. We need. To let the Holy Spirit search us when we examine ourself we’re either too lenient. Or we’re too hard on ourselves. When we let people search our hearts. They have the same tendency to be too lenient for you justify you or be too hard on you.
▶ 1:10:35 But when you let the Holy Spirit search your life. He knows how to give you an anesthetic. Okay I just had. Hearing aids put in. I can hear again God decided I didn’t need one good ear so he gave me two bad ears. Now you can’t blame God. That’s supposed to be a joke so I have to make sure you understand. But I got hearing aids that adjust themselves. And I can hear. And I just got new eyes. My eyes went bad and I couldn’t read even with glasses and they couldn’t give me glasses that could correct it so they gave me a new lens in each eye and now I can read fine print.
▶ 1:11:28 And Mike he was testing me a week or two ago and can you read this on his cell phone and I read the big print. But the little print I didn’t see because you have to have it at a certain distance to read you understand the lenses are for a certain distance. So I flunked the test but when I did it on my own phone I could read it click. Church God wants to give you spiritual eyes to see. He wants to give you spiritual ears to hear. And he wants to give you a moral and spiritual mouth to speak. And he wants to forgive and cleanse you and set you free. From any sin or any mistake that you made.
▶ 1:12:24 That’s why he said repent feel bad for your sin and turn from it and bring forth the fruit. And you last maybe seven days and you mess it up again so you go through the same ceremony God I’m sorry for my sin I shouldn’t be doing this forgive me and he forgives you and he comes and strengthens you and he helps you. Didn’t Jesus say forgive someone 70 times 7 won’t God keep forgiving you and keep building you yeah if you got a sinful habit or you got an angry mouth you got eyes that are not seeing spiritual things just keep bringing yourself to Jesus and this is what this song is all about.
▶ 1:13:17 Jesus come and search me. He knows how to put an anesthetic that doctor put an anesthetic in me and one hour later I woke up with a new eye. All right when I had a hernia operation also last year I’m falling apart my old age I woke up. And the hernia was healed now the pain of the healing was there. For a short period of time but that’s a good pain amen. Yeah yeah we don’t like God’s operation sometimes after he’s done but it’s a healthy pain all right same with my eyes you know for three days and uh my eyes were very uncomfortable the one they operated on but on the fourth day I could read.
▶ 1:14:10 Hallelujah and so yes he uses an anesthetic. To do the operation but after he’s done you may not like it for a short period of time. But that’s a healthy pain and Paul calls it the death of the old man the death of the sinful man he’s dying. So if you want to come to God today. We’re going to open this up as prayer this is a prayer time this is a prayer song all the way through all four verses is a prayer we’re going to sing the first verse several times and you pray for yourself God search me you who think you’re so good after serving God for 50 years asked him to get into the deep recesses of your spirit and see what he brings out.
▶ 1:15:08 There may be some thoughts there there may be some words there there may be some negligence there that God wants to deal with. Could there be an amen as we sing it. Let’s stand in the presence of God saying Lord we mean this prayer and let’s sing it search me o. And. My heart God. Know my thoughts I pray. See.
▶ 1:16:02 In there. Now that is God’s promise first John 1:9 if we confess our sins he’s faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we do our part and pray to him he will do his part and come to us let’s sing it again. I pray.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV)
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
— Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:09:38 (quoted; reference not named in the message)1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
— 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:16:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does the service close?
Short answer: Prayers of confession and recommitment, prayer for God to move in America, and the offering.
▶ 1:17:25 Way. As they just play just lift your voice and talk to God father we just lift our voices unto you right now. Lord you said. If we would admit we’ve been wrong. That we violated your laws. That we’ve hurt. Our neighbor or we’ve hurt our brother and sister in Christ. You said Lord if we confess that you would forgive.
▶ 1:18:18 You would cleanse and you would deliver us from all unrighteousness. Making us reconciled to God again. And righteous beforehand. So Lord right now we ask you to search our heart. Send your Holy Spirit to search us Lord and show us where we need some adjustment. Show us where we need some change. So that we can honestly pray Lord and ask you. To hear our confession of that sin. And forgive us and deliver us and heal us and set us free. Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus we open our life to you right now Holy Spirit come.
▶ 1:19:14 Come. Search us. Precious Jesus precious Jesus precious Jesus. As the music gets much quieter. If you want to pray a prayer out loud. Asking God. To change your life today you don’t have to give the specifics. It’s just you have an honest prayer a confession before God. We’re going to open it up for those online. Or those here to lift up your voice and pray.
▶ 1:20:10 What is life to you will be life to the rest of us what’s living to you will be living to the rest of us. Lord I pray that you would help me to do good Lord. Help me to be an encouragement to my brothers. Someone else. It’s that simple it’s not some kind of complex thing it’s really that simple. Jesus I pray that I’ll be a better father to my children Jesus I pray.
▶ 1:21:15 That I would serve you better in your church Jesus. God I pray. Lord I want to do your will like you did the will of God when you were a child Jesus. Thank you. Me too Lord. Cause me to treat my family good and right. And treat your people right. Someone else. Jesus and thank you for hearing our prayer and I know God.
▶ 1:22:15 I am confident that Jesus the Lord. Yes Jesus again Lord we agree with that prayer someone else. Thank you. Oh Lord just because we’ve been going to church for 40 or 50 years doesn’t mean anything. David this morning God. Yes. Amen yes Lord again we agree with that prayer Lord apply to our lives.
▶ 1:23:15 Someone else. Yes yes yes. Yes Lord every day. Of justice. Lord I want to be like that woman Jesus said just continue to press in Lord. And not be overwhelmed by circumstances Lord as she pressed in Lord she didn’t give up Lord. Lord when she touched you she was changed and Lord I want to be like that woman mary who sat at your feet it was the needful thing and not be so. So worried.
▶ 1:24:07 And so troubled about natural things Jesus. Lord I want to renewed heart in a renewed mind I want that covenant or that covenant. A relationship Lord Jesus with you restored and renewed and refreshed. Yes Lord again we agree and we ask that that be applied to us Lord to know you. Be refreshed in you daily. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers. Someone else this is beautiful someone else. The second verse. Tells us we accept God’s cleansing from every sin we accept.
▶ 1:25:05 His answer. I praise you Lord for cleansing me from sin see I confessed now I’m clean fulfill your word and make me pure within fill me with fire for once I burn with shame grant my desire to magnify your name let’s sing that. I praised. Is. Shame.
▶ 1:26:20 Amen amen father we thank you. I just pray for all of us Lord we thank you. That when we ask you to forgive us and cleanse us that you are faithful to your word to do what you said you would do. You’re a God that cannot lie. You’re a God that changes not and we just thank you and praise you for cleansing us today from any sin it may not even be a sin it just may be an attitude. Lord a a word spoken out of the wrong kind of voice. Lord we thank you for cleansing us Lord from head to toe. The third verse.
▶ 1:27:15 Is com recommitting our life to Christ Lord take my life and make it holy make Jesus Lord of your life let’s sing that. Heart. With thy great life. We surrender Lord.
▶ 1:28:20 That last statement I now surrender Lord let’s lift our hand I now surrender. Yes again. We surrender to your Holy Spirit. Now this last verse was written back there when they were looking for a new visitation of God there have been four great awakenings four great visitations in the northern hemisphere. And they prayed in this last verse oh Holy Ghost revival comes from you send a revival and start your work in me your word declares you will supply our need for blessings now our Lord are humbly plead the blessing that God would bring a new revival a new visitation of God on the earth and he did I lived through that last visitation of God it’s very powerful.
▶ 1:29:37 There’s nothing like the church’s art today. Every church you went into the presence of God was there the conviction of God was there I don’t care if you’re a catholic a baptist a presbyterian or whatever God was moving and bringing people in lessing this with authority let’s think this with with. Yes fervency God bring us bring America a new visitation bring to my church and my family a new visitation. In me.
▶ 1:30:38 You will supply. Our. Lord send your Holy Spirit to us afresh and then. You said you would pour out your spirit on all flesh. Start with me Lord start with this church start with my father. You will fly.
▶ 1:31:54 Now this song was written at a time where they needed. God to move in America. And we need God to move in America. So while we are still in this attitude of prayer if God has given you a prayer. A statement a praise or whatever. For the church in America for the church in europe for the church in china and russia all across the world we need God to visit us again we do just lift your voice especially for the church in America who’s going through a dry season they’re going through a tough season those dry seasons comes the winter seasons come but the spring season comes and the harvest season comes also. Let’s lift up our voices and if you have a prayer you lift up your voices and pray for the church in America God is not finished with the church in America he’s going to restore it he’s going to rebuild it he’s going to anoint it again.
▶ 1:33:00 Thank you Lord Jesus thank you Lord Jesus. Oh. Foreign.
▶ 1:34:24 Boys. Someone want to singularly lift up your voice for the church of America. Jesus we sing a song. Lord bind us together in unity Lord we sing that song you’re my brother you’re my sister yes Lord so I’m asking Jesus that the church of the living God will begin to reach out and join hand in hand Lord God all across our nation Lord and all across the so.
▶ 1:35:27 World ask Lord that we be the soul of the earth and the light and let that light Lord shine so brightly Lord that the church and the living God Lord begin. There be a yes. Like a mighty wind.
▶ 1:36:48 You are God and God alone. Oh my gosh. In closing I want to remind you that the prophet said that the glory of God would be restored upon every family. Hallelujah.
▶ 1:37:41 That the apostle wrote and said God will finish the good work he began in you don’t you give up on yourself don’t you give up on God he has the power and authority to back up his word to do what he said he would do and he will finish the good work in your life and don’t give up on others that you think are flighty Christians or lukewarm Christian God promises to finish the good work in all of us amen and we might be at different levels but God sees us as potential mature righteous and wise people of God amen amen.
