Pastor David G. Kincer follows Jesus out of the wilderness in the power of the Spirit. He calls disciples to follow and become fishers of men, catching people the way we were caught. Jesus read Isaiah’s anointing in the synagogue and was rejected. The church must possess, not just believe for, the Holy Ghost and live the word.

▶ 0:00 Okay we have been following. Jesus from his birth and we’re up to where he is 30 years old. And he is returning from the temptation in the wilderness is 40 day fast and in Luke 414 it says. That Jesus returned and four things took place he returned in the power of the spirit folks that’s a big difference than trying to do things on human energy and human power he returned in the power sea he was filled with the Holy Ghost when he got baptized and here.

▶ Watch this part (0:46)

Short answer: Tarry in Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high — the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:46 It says he returned in the power of the spirit and this is what Jesus said go and tarry in Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high see the baptism of holy goes as a baptism of power it isn’t something you get when you get baptized because Jesus got it then alright it isn’t something you get because you believe you got it you get it and you possess it when you get it could that be an amen oh and it gives you power supernatural ability and he came out with supernatural ability and he taught in their synagogues now the Jews weren’t very happy about people like Jesus so he is going to the enemy’s camp and he is sharing scriptures with them speaking scriptures with them and they gave him a scroll as we will see in one of these synagogues and as.

▶ 1:44 He opened the scriptures up and he’s talking about believing on him confessing your sins confessing that he is Jesus Christ the Lord repenting from your sins getting water baptized and bringing forth fruit suitable for repentance that’s what he’s preaching remember last week that’s his message all right now the news of him spread. Just like John the baptist John the baptist did no miracle but the news of John the baptist message spread and people come from all around to get baptized by John the baptist so the word of God is powerful the spirit of God and the word of God is two essential things we needed Christians we need as a church the fourth thing is they praised him and everyone that heard him praised him they honored him they go wow listen this guy’s great okay you with me so far and not a nice set up in John 1:29.

What did John say when he saw Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (2:54)

Short answer: Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 2:54 Jesus comes by after he came back out from the wilderness and John looked at him and says behold the lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world. The very next day Jesus walks by where John the baptist is again. And. John said the lamb of God well two of John the baptist disciples heard him say it the day before and today and they connected they go what are we following John the baptist for. Let’s follow the lamb. Let’s follow the lamb and so they left John the baptist and they followed Jesus and they were andrew and John now the question is this church are we following the messenger or are we following Jesus the messiah the only savior.

Scripture (NKJV)

John 1:29 (NKJV)

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Do you brag on your pastor or on Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (4:10)

Short answer: No pastor died on the cross for you; the best we can do is point people to Jesus.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 4:10 Do you brag about your pastor when people talk about you about christianity you brag about your master Jesus there’s a big difference. Every time I talk to people my pastor is so-and-so who cares who your pastor is who’s your master in that right yeah these guys recognize it real quick did John the baptist have a problem with it no way he knew that people were supposed to follow Jesus because he was the forerunner of Jesus. Amen. See today we don’t want to lose people in the church we want him to follow the pastor. But we should be telling people to follow the master oh. Yeah. And this is the problem with American churches they follow the rick warren they follow John copeland and alstine and all this and they talk about how great they are and I never hear them saying the greatness of the master and that disturbs me could that be a true attitude yeah.

▶ 5:22 No no there’s no pastor that died on the cross for you there’s no evangelist that did that none of them resurrected himself Jesus did and the best we can do is point people toward Jesus like John the baptist did. Now. Going to Matthew 4:19. He got to the place. Andrew and John is with him and andrew went and got Peter and then bartholomew flo showed up and then philip showed up and some other guys were called and this was his message short and it’s not just a message it is a commandment it is a short. Commandment and a short message with a quick response all Jesus said to these guys was what follow me.

What did Jesus promise those who follow?

▶ Watch this part (6:20)

Short answer: Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men; immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 6:20 And he added a phrase to it I will make you make, underline,. Fishers of men follow me and immediately they followed Jesus. They left their secular jobs and everything wherever they were at they stopped to follow Jesus okay now you don’t have to leave your job and all that don’t don’t twist the scripture but you’ve got to what follow Jesus Christ hallelujah shortest commandment with the quickest response now it took time for Jesus to make them fishers of men they responded quick but they weren’t fishers of men quick they had to go through a making process a molding process a shaping process are you with me touch and that goes for a lot of things in God we’ve got to be made into his image you know you didn’t get it when you got saved we got to be made into his likeness you didn’t get that when you got saved you got to be fashioned.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 4:19-20 (NKJV)

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

— Matthew 4:19-20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:20

What determines fruit?

▶ Watch this part (7:36)

Short answer: Fruit is in direct proportion to time in the Word, prayer, worship and church.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 7:36 Same way with the fruit remember the fruit is in proportion to the time you spend in the word prayer worship going to church and all that it’s in direct proportion it takes time involved for God to produce fruit in your life none of you silence the tongue right after you were saved all right you had to learn that a lot of you didn’t stop using profanity I mean if they after you were saved you had to discipline yourself to stop it am I right yeah so relax give yourself time to grow. Because Satan will come along and say well look at you look what you’re doing just quit quit being a pretender no you’re growing in God amen.

How do we fish for men?

▶ Watch this part (8:31)

Short answer: We catch people the same way we got caught; people preaching the wrong word discourage and hinder Christianity.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:31 Now. How do we fish for men here’s mr. Barnes caught. Caught by Jesus here. We’re going to catch people the same way we get caught and if you got caught wrong you’re going to try to catch people with the method that you got caught so you need to have the right net that you’ll ended it could that be an amen no. We want people to get saved not follow you and your ideas or your church group we want them following Jesus all right so believe in Jesus from birth to the second coming confess your sins confess Jesus as your Lord repent turn from sin be water baptized and I am tired of people saying that doesn’t doesn’t save you Jesus himself said go and preach the gospel they that believe in our baptized shall be say shall be say.

▶ 9:47 Good grief. There are so many people that think they got a real insight to God that are preaching the wrong word and it discourages people and it it hinders Christians growth and birth and then bring forth the fruit of repentance and that as I said it takes time and effort then he adds this after you get saved you are to follow Jesus didn’t Jesus say if you continue in my word then you’ll be my disciples indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free do we have to be set free more than just our initial salvation absolutely and how do we get free by following Jesus and the word if you don’t get into the word you’re not going to be a disciple and get free amen.

▶ 10:42 So not only do we bring forth fruit worthy of repentance but we also follow Jesus. Get into his word put that time and effort in he would say you can’t earn salvation it’s not earning salvation it’s make an effort to grow in my salvation a man Jesus bought me with a price that’s ridiculous to say any little thing you do you you’re trying to earn your salvation I’m not trying to earn nothing he bought me I was the slave of Satan and sin and he bought me now I am the slave of Jesus and a slave job is to obey the master amen oh. Yeah. I’ll make you fishers of men number seven and that following Jesus and the truth will set you free now that’s how we help others now remember Jesus did not use music.

What is a big problem in American churches?

▶ Watch this part (11:45)

Short answer: Focusing on the music in the church instead of the Master in the church.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 11:45 That’s a big problem in America right now they’re focusing in on the music in the church instead of the master in the church they didn’t use minds they didn’t put on plays. Amen. They didn’t even have a building Jesus didn’t have built a building. Start a mega church. Are you there oh. He didn’t have an arms program to help the poor. He didn’t have a halfway house to help addicts or drunks make a transition or prostitutes make a transition he had a message that delivered people. And yet him and his apostles turned the world upside down without the music without all these things that we rely on they turn the world upside down do you think we need to get back to the master now folks music is Bible don’t get me wrong but anything can be taken out of its place you get extreme in any of it it brings destruction now.

What did Jesus read in the synagogue?

▶ Watch this part (13:05)

Short answer: Isaiah: the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty, sight to the blind, and set free the oppressed.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:05 So now we come and find Jesus in the synagogue like we read earlier and they gave him a scroll to read and the scroll was Isaiah the prophet Jesus immediately went to the part in Isaiah the prophet as we know chapter 61 verse 1 he didn’t have chapters and verses he just knew exactly where to go I mean. Isaiah is a big book and he just okay right here it is we would be gone don’t go what I. Mean he loved chapters and verses yes. So and Luke 4:18 we picked him up in the synagogue teaching as the Bible says he was doing and he goes to Isaiah and he reads this verse the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he.

▶ 14:09 Has anointed me he God or he spirit. Number one preach the gospel to the poor okay now so far so good the people still like him alright. Number two he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted by what means the spirit and the gospel those are the two things that do the work. Are you with me number three he has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives how by the gospel and the spirit. Number four he has sent me to proclaim liberty of sight to the blind how. By the spirit and the gospel.

▶ 15:08 Number five. The anointing is upon me to set free the oppressed. And why Christians are oppressed is beyond me. You know it’s a choice [unclear]. You either seek God and get delivered because he sets free the oppressed you know right or you spend a lot of money on psychologists and everything and figure out a way to balance your brain out and then the last one to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord the acceptable year of the Lord is the time of the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles ends you can get saved anybody can get say anybody can be saved.

▶ 16:04 Broken hearted healed the liberty if you’re in captivity sight to the blind have your eyes open to spiritual things into the word can I hear any men now so far everything is fine until. He says this statement. Are you ready. Today this scripture is fulfilled. He’s saying the spirit of the Lord is upon him. Because the sphere of the Lord has anointed him. To preach the gospel and do these things now listen to me carefully the Jews had a belief that wasn’t Bible they believed the messiah was coming to be a king to deliver them from the roman mpower deliver them from slavery in the natural world that’s what they were looking for.

▶ 17:09 So when Jesus came as that the king of the spiritual world the king of the kingdom of God they could not. Accept it; they were looking now please listen they are looking for this to be fulfilled they’re believing it’s going to happen but when Jesus said I’m it it’s here this is happening they couldn’t handle that. Because they were in the belief mode they were in the faith mode not the possession mode.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 4:18 (NKJV)

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

— Luke 4:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:05

What is the faith mode?

▶ Watch this part (17:52)

Short answer: Believing you have things of God or will get them, without possessing them.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:52 Am I getting through too many people are in the faith mode they don’t possess the things of God they believe they have them or they believe they’re going to get them or they believe it’s coming instead of God this is my inheritance I want it and possessing it and experience in it say experience the eyes open experience the oppression go on experience our slavery to sin liberated from experience the emotional broken hearted thing you’re going through experiencing salvation from the gospel are you there and this mistake is repeated in the world today we are rejecting what God has said we can have because we’re looking for it somewhere tomorrow or we think we have it by faith.

▶ 18:54 And we don’t have it is that makes sense to you hallelujah. You see God promised to fill us with this Holy Ghost with power over. Half of the church world believe they have the power the Holy Ghost by faith not by experience that’s a big difference are you there a lot of over half of the people in the protestant. Denomination. They really they do but you’re not born again when you accept Christ’s birth takes a process and you got to be born of the water and then the apostle said you got to be born again of the word both things got to work together so it is a process and I gave you the example of the baby in the womb that baby isn’t born when it’s conceived it has to grow see it needs its mother’s nourishment it needs its mother’s oxygen it needs mother’s everything to live in the womb it’s born when it doesn’t need mother anymore and it can come out and to the real world and survive.

Is the baptism of the Holy Ghost by faith?

▶ Watch this part (20:18)

Short answer: He submits it is not a faith thing but a fact thing — an experience you have.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 20:18 Amen that’s being birthed and we got everything today in America by faith I submit to you that the baptism of Holy Ghost is not a faith thing it is a fact thing and you can have it wisdom of God that he will give it’s not you have wisdom by faith but you have wisdom because he gives it to you. Amen. Now olivia. When I got saved I really got saved I knew I was saved I didn’t know the Bible but I knew I was saved why cuz God came to me I felt him I felt sin go I experienced it and though I didn’t know the Bible and I couldn’t explain it I knew that if I died as going to heaven okay.

▶ 21:17 No one mentioned faith to me when I got saved no one mentioned grace to me when I got saved no one mentioned a lot of things to me when I got saved the guy that led me to Christ just told me I was a sinner I had to agree with him because I was violating God’s law if I confess my sins God will forgive me of my sin and if I would confess Jesus as my Lord God would save me and I did those things and lo and behold Jesus showed up and did it. Now there. What no little game. It was a real thing. Now. Here’s where everything changed when he said this is fulfilled you can experience it you can have it and I’m the one that can get it to you well they believe God was the only one that could do things like this and what they didn’t understand as Jesus was God.

What did they do to Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (22:26)

Short answer: They thrust Him out of the city to the brow of the hill to throw Him down.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 22:26 When God came to them in the flesh they couldn’t comprehend it. So what did they do they thrust him out of the synagogue out of the city took him to a brink of a hill we’re going to throw him off now can you imagine trying to kill God you got to be pretty lame to try to kill God but see they’re ignorant they don’t understand. But what did Jesus do because of the power the Holy Ghost upon him when he got to the brink of the hill. He just walked through him so I’ll see you later. Are you there to it there’s power in God you know people can only do something to you so far then God’s going to get you out of it oh yeah your problem is only going to be allowed by God so far and then God’s going to solve your problem you know he did not walk through them till he was at the brink of the hill.

▶ 23:35 Have you ever been to your brink. I. Think most of us have been to our brink before and God comes and answers you know it’s sad that we got to get to that place when we just need to believe it and accept it but that’s the way it happens so. The power of the spirit and the spoken or written word is sufficient folks to get the job done we can become fishers a minute even if you can’t talk you can do it by your lifestyle then they’ll ask you why do you live the way you do that’s what the Bible says I was talking this week to some business people and I.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 4:29 (NKJV)

and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.

— Luke 4:29 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 22:26

Do young people assume they’re Christians?

▶ Watch this part (24:28)

Short answer: Many think they are because their parents or a church group say so.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 24:28 Asked this young man and I never do this I haven’t done this since as a young Christian I said are you a Christian that’s a taboo question, that it just shot out of me are you a Christian and he says yes and he just shot out of me again how do you know that and then he started. Well I’m really not serving God like I should I mean really you know the outdoors is my God baseball’s my God I mean he just started opening up just like that. Yeah to me that’s a no-no question but it was perfect for this guy and this is what he said. When I said how do you know you’re a Christian he said because my parents told me I was. Did you hear that.

▶ 25:23 Do you know how many young people today think they’re Christians because their parents are real genuine Christian. Or some church group says they’re Christian I mean this guy hit the nail on the head my parents told me I was a Christian a lot of young people today think they’re Christians because they grew up in a Christian home folks God does not have. Stepchildren. He has born-again children birthed by him no stepkids for God we get birthed by him amen and so. The power of the word and the spirit works and there’s a lot of people out there that think they have stuff that they don’t have they that praise Jesus now reject Jesus for speaking.

What does living the word bring?

▶ Watch this part (26:24)

Short answer: When you really possess and live the word, people are going to dislike it.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 26:24 Possessing and living the word when you really speak the word you really experience and possess the word and you live the word here’s the one people are gonna dislike you. You live in for God exposes him they feel threatened and so they want to attack they want to defend their beliefs are you with me so we have to choose what kind of Christians were going to be and we don’t have to be rude Christians to do this I was on my facebook this morning and a muslim came over for somalia and I greeted him and said thank you for joining the group I. Said please don’t. Leave because some zealots are going to attack you and I.

▶ 27:21 Said this is a place where you can share your views share your beliefs share your experiences and we’ll let the Holy Ghost do the work in that right yes the last smuzzle in my head on there he left because he couldn’t handle all the abuse and all the attacks you know we just want to attack a lot of Christians just in attack mode. Folks you can possess these things and I’m going to close as the children are dismissed. With a song that wraps this up okay. And while they’re leaving if there’s anything in God you want to possess take it to him it may take a while to get it I’m not going to tell you he may he may not give you popcorn answers our microwave answers you may have to fight a battle there’s quite a few battles I had to fight some things he just took from me other things I had the fight to win and conquer and walk in that possession are you with me how many experienced that absolutely and I never felt guilty and condemned or anything while I was growing and attaining it because in Christ there’s no condemnation you’re working on something and it’s acceptable.
