Continuing what God said about Jesus, Pastor David G. Kincer teaches Isaiah 52:13–53:2 as Jesus’ job description: the Servant exalted, yet marred more than any man. The arm of the Lord will be bared before all nations, and he argues Jesus will reveal the marred, post-crucified Christ—the Lamb that was slain—to every nation before his return.

What is Jesus’ job description?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: Isaiah 49:6 began the series; Isaiah 52:13–53:12 is a statement toward Jesus—a job description, one of the most tremendous passages in the Bible.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:00 Our teachings on what God said to Jesus we started out with Isaiah 49:6 it is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors of Israel I will also give you a light to the nation’s that’s us the Gentiles the unbelievers non-Jews and my salvation may extend to the end of the earth now today this isn’t a direct statement to Jesus but it’s a direct statement toward Jesus it’s a what I call a job description. Alright. Isaiah 52:13 through Isaiah 53:12 is one of the most tremendous passages in the Bible and much preached on all over the world.

▶ 0:58 My servant shall deal wisely now who is his servant. Jesus. See God said to Jesus alright it’s a light thing that you should be my servant so who’s got servant Jesus and I trust you are too. My servant shall deal wisely he shall be exalted praised and be very high so that is true when you go to the no testament he was given a name above every name he was given all authority in heaven and earth he’s authority over the church he’s the authority over every home he was given a scepter of righteousness okay he was called the king of kings and the Lord of lords alright that transpired that happened now there’s going to be a radical change in his state.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 1:58 His appearance and form marred more than any man and many are shocked at him wow. His appearance his form is disfigured. Is it it’s scarred. Its. Defaced more than any man you find any men throughout history that has been beaten and abused and and disfigured by others Jesus was marred more than any other human being. I’m a radical change from this to this this is the post crucified Jesus he’s talking about not the pre crucified Jesus here’s the pre crucified Jesus the Jesus that we would love for our children to be picked up [unclear] and blessed by and [unclear] for a Sunday school teacher that’s the pre crucified Jesus that came God came to earth and a bodily form this is the post crucified Jesus you would have hysterics that this man walked up and picked up your kid.

How will nations respond?

▶ Watch this part (3:25)

Short answer: Isaiah 52:15: he will startle many nations; kings will be speechless, for what had not been told them they will see and consider.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:25 you would be shocked [unclear] No artist yet that I know of no illustration has come close to telling us how. Marred Jesus really was all right for the sins of the world he took the beatings of pain he was scarred more than any other human being in the world and so people are shocked in him they’re appalled. And. Now. he keeps the theme of shock he will startle [unclear] your translations will probably say sprinkle okay. But the word for sprinkle has two meanings.

▶ 4:21 And in the context of shocked here he’ll startle he’ll stun [unclear] shock. Many nations many people. Okay but not all many many are going to respond to the post [unclear] appearance. Others aren’t. Kings are speechless civil government rulers are speechless and this is why they are startled they are shocked then they’re speechless for that which had not been told them they’ll see. And consider they’re going to rethink this they’re going to ponder on this are you with me in this beautiful.

▶ 5:19 And that which had not been told them so what had not been told them this marred Jesus more than any other man. And when they see him what is see what do I have in my hand [unclear] yes why do you know that you can see it. the nations are going to see the marred Jesus okay and they’re going to rethink they’re going to consider they’re going to ponder this. Crucified Jesus Christ hallelujah now. How.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Isaiah 52:15 (NKJV)

So shall He sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths at Him; For what had not been told them they shall see, And what they had not heard they shall consider.

Who is the arm of the Lord?

▶ Watch this part (6:11)

Short answer: Isaiah 52:10: the Lord has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations. Isaiah 51:9–10 shows the arm cut Rahab and divided the sea—the arm of the Lord is Jesus.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 6:11 Will they see and how’s that how they going to see Jesus is up in heaven right now seated beside the father how they going to see the marred Jesus and consider. We’re going to back up three verses and go to Isaiah 52:10. The Lord when it’s green who’s he talking about God the Lord God has made bare his so who’s his here God holy arm the underline is Jesus is holy arm you say oh [unclear] get that Isaiah said. Awake awake put on your strength o arm of the Lord awake as in the ancient days in the generations of old are you not he that has cut Rahab and wounded the dragon talking about God bringing the plagues on Egypt dividing Egypt and destroying Egypt and leading his people up are you not he that have divided the waters of the great deep are you not he have made a way for the ransom.

▶ 7:25 To pass over who is our redeemer Jesus. So who is the arm of the Lord Jesus [unclear]. Amen. Alright so and he has made bare his holy arm Jesus he’s uncovered Jesus. Okay when you make bare an arm you uncover it and in the eyes of how many people all the people now folks we didn’t know there was other nations and other people in this earth until the late seventeen hundreds so this is a prophetic word. When God says all nations he meant all nations and we didn’t know it had not been revealed to us that there were islands with people on them and North and South America with people on it in other places with people on it and we didn’t know that until the late 1700 are you with me so this is a prophetic word that all nations are going to see who the marred Jesus the scarred disfigured Jesus oh.

Scripture (NKJV)

— Isaiah 51:9-10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:56 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Will all people see him?

▶ Watch this part (8:48)

Short answer: All the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God—Jesus. Not all will be shocked or consider, but all will see.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:48 All the ends of the earth and he repeats himself. Shall see so what see into what he said down here they’ll see okay so what are they going to see the salvation of our God who is the savior Jesus who is the only way unto eternal life Jesus he is the salvation of God amen he’s a he’s his arm he’s the savior and he says all people are going to see him and rulers are going to be speechless when they see him are you with me so far [unclear] isn’t this a great little Sunday school lesson. And but.

Scripture (NKJV)

Isaiah 52:10 (NKJV)

The LORD has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations; And all the ends of the earth shall see The salvation of our God.

What’s wrong with typical rapture pictures?

▶ Watch this part (9:43)

Short answer: They never show the marred Jesus. Revelation 1:7 and Matthew 24:30: every eye shall see him—a spiritual opening of the eyes, like the servant who saw the chariots.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 9:43 Now not all down here are shocked not all are startled not all are going to consider but all are going to see all right so I’m going to show you two ways in the Bible that people can see the uncovered marred Jesus before the second coming. Are you interested. I want to give you one of them today I won’t have time to [unclear] by the way this message took me over 40 hours to put together there’s the hardest message I’ve ever put together in a long time and took a lot of work. So you get the directions on the Holy Spirit then you got to do a lot of studying a lot of searching and then you hit [unclear] what doesn’t work.

▶ 10:37 I thought I’d get a [unclear] and look there’s no [unclear] at all it’s just a nightmare. Yeah it took a lot of work [unclear] now. Here is a typical picture of the rapture all right people rising from the grave. Coming out of their cars so the cars don’t have a driver and I have an accident the pilot lives so the plane goes into the building and the train engineer’s gone so the train runs off the track this is our typical from 1830 [unclear] even today is taught on the coming of Christ now there’s a big problem with this picture and I’m sure you’ve seen it but I’m going to remind you what it is here we have Jesus up here in the clouds and basically he never is the marred Jesus he’s always the transfigured Jesus the Jesus of Revelation with the white hair eyes of fire and feet of brass or he is the pre crucified Jesus but never the marred Jesus.

▶ 11:54 Now but that’s not what I said it’s a big mistake. The Bible says that every eye shall see him in Revelations 1:7 in Matthew 24:30 all tribes of the earth shall see him so when he comes how many people are going to see it okay everybody yeah yeah if you’re in a cave are you going to see yes if you are blind are you going to see yeah [unclear] that’s why this picture is done.

▶ 12:29 This is a spiritual. Opening of the eyes no matter where you’re at no matter what you’re doing when he returns you’re going to see it whether you believe in him or not or whatever every eye is going to see him and whether you’re on the backside of the earth where it’s dark and [unclear] this is sunset that kind of you know come in the evening I’m having you know on the other side of the earth so he came on this side of the earth people on the other side of the earth couldn’t see you see this is a spiritual scene when he opened your eyes you can see it [unclear] said to God God open my servant’s eyes and the guy’s eyes were open he saw the chariots afar all around Israel see they were there but that guy couldn’t [unclear] the prophet could see him then he couldn’t see him when God opened his eyes what he saw them and when God opens your eyes you can see things that you never saw before this is a spiritual sight.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Revelation 1:7 (NKJV)

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

— 2 Kings 6:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:14 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Which Jesus will be revealed to the nations?

▶ Watch this part (13:36)

Short answer: Not the smiling picture-book Jesus but the marred, disfigured Jesus—the one who gives the privilege of eternal life.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:36 Can I hear an amen yeah don’t get wrapped up in these pictures. Alleluia. Here is the Revelation Jesus with his white hair and his fiery eyes and the two edged sword coming out of his mouth and the feet of brass here is the transfigured Jesus on the mount of transfiguration where his raiment shone and and he transformed from his earthly form to a heavenly form spiritual form here is the pre crucified Jesus okay does that Jesus look like any of these yes. How about this Jesus. Marred scarred disfigured more than any man.

▶ 14:33 you take these Indians and these barbarians that would take the skin off of their prisoners [unclear] and all that and as horrible as that was he was marred more than what any man. [unclear] we don’t really get the picture of what Jesus went through to save you. We always see the handsome Jesus the Jesus and little kids are sitting in his legs the smiling Jesus oh I like that Jesus he’s smiling you know a hundred years ago it was the [unclear] Jesus [unclear] every time you’ve seen the picture [unclear] and then they come along with a happy Jesus and I’m like oh yeah that’s the Jesus I like that isn’t the Jesus that he’s going to reveal to all the nations it’s the marred Jesus the disfigured Jesus that he’s going to reveal what because that is the Jesus that gives you the privilege of coming into eternal life and knowing God and living forever that’s the [unclear] yeah.

Who has believed our report?

▶ Watch this part (15:52)

Short answer: Isaiah 53:1. “Our” is God and Jesus—as in “let us make man in our image.” John 12:37–38: though he did many miracles they believed not, fulfilling Isaiah.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 15:52 pretty good job isn’t it. Alleluia. Now. let’s continue we’ll go on to Matthew 53.. Just because the chapter starts here doesn’t mean the subject starts here the subject started back in Isaiah 52 okay the subject is continuing the guy who put into chapters messed up here you should have started your chapter way back there alright still talking about Jesus who has believed our report now our is in green and underlined what does that mean God in Jesus yes our report.

▶ 16:40 Genesis 1 let us make man in our image plural us is plural our is plural there’s people who want to say one God yes he’s one God [unclear] he is but he expresses himself in three different manifestations [unclear] so both reports Jesus and God God said I’m going to do this with Jesus Jesus said God did it okay both of it and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed all right whose believed our report to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed good question so we go to the New Testament in John 12:37 he Jesus had done many miracles before them yet they believed not on him so the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled Lord who has believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed he quotes that scripture.

— John 12:37-38 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:20

To whom is the arm revealed?

▶ Watch this part (17:46)

Short answer: To those who believe not—he comes to the unbeliever and reveals himself, as well as to believers.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:46 so who is God [unclear] the pre this is the pre crucified Christ that he’s talking about and then crucified [unclear]. Who’s the whom here. They that believe not. He comes to the unbeliever and reveals himself. Amen. Hallelujah aren’t you glad of that especially if you’re an unbeliever yeah. Now. We also know he come to believers a lot of people believed him and followed him repented and followed him okay we know that but he also came to those that believe not so we have the answer to this question don’t we yeah and that’s the pre crucified Christ now.

Why does Isaiah say he had no beauty?

▶ Watch this part (18:52)

Short answer: Isaiah 53:2: no form nor comeliness, no beauty that we should desire him—the post-crucified Jesus, beaten in the face, like a boxer swollen and bleeding but worse.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 18:52 Here is the pre crucified Christ he has no form here he is back here he is back to this marred Jesus again he has no form nor good looks and he didn’t look as good as mr. Barnes. [unclear] was a handsome lean mean [unclear] and both of us have got a little old and saggy. When we shall see him. There is no beauty that we should desire him so he’s talking about which Jesus the pre crucified Jesus or the post crucified Jesus the post crucified Jesus the Jesus after the crucifixion.

▶ 19:48 Goes right back to this subject okay. There’s nothing you know these people have visions of Jesus and always tremendous I. Haven’t heard one of them with a vision of the marred Jesus yet. Not one. Here he is again yeah we want this Jesus to pick up our child and blessing but boy you let this guy come along [unclear] my child and that’s the very Jesus you need. Here is a boxer. Both his eyes are swollen shut his jaw’s all swollen up his head’s bleeding bloods all over the place and Jesus is marred more than any man and look at it.

Does Jesus appear to people?

▶ Watch this part (20:43)

Short answer: He appeared many times after his resurrection—even to 500 at once (1 Corinthians 15:6)—and appeared after his ascension; he opens people’s eyes without leaving the throne.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 20:43 Folks do you understand they beat him in his face. Did you really get that scripture I mean look at this guy. And. Jesus was marred what more. More this guy took a tremendous pain and agony for you. He suffered tremendously for you. Now I told you I was going to show you two ways that people can see Jesus here we are first one. And in the New Testament Jesus appeared seven times to people.

▶ 21:44 while he was standing or seated by the right hand of the father. He’s in heaven and yet he appeared seven times after his resurrection. To people and the Bible says that Jesus did so many things that if everything was written about him the heavens could not contain the books but these are written that you might believe so if he appeared seven times is there a good chance he might have appeared seven thousand times yes. how many know he can do that how many know he’s Jesus and he can do well what he wants. he doesn’t lean on your doctrine and he doesn’t lean on your faith he leans on the father and when the father says go down now and reveal yourself to that person.

▶ 22:39 He doesn’t leave the throne he just opens their eyes to see him and their ears to hear his voice in that beautiful now not only that but he appeared 12 times between his resurrection I should have said his ascension here this is the ascension he’s up in heaven but after his resurrection he appeared a good 12 times to people and the Bible says he vanished from their midst he appeared in their midst I mean this guy is I know that Star Wars thing Scotty beam me up I mean he just well he’s he just beamed over here being over there beamed over there [unclear] yes.

▶ Watch this part (23:34)

Short answer: Daniel 7:13: Daniel saw the Son of Man. In Exodus, two and a half million people saw his presence daily in the pillar of fire and cloud.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 23:34 he was the first beamer [unclear] he’s God folks he’s Jesus he loves people do you realize he appeared to 500 at one time. 500 after his resurrection at one time 500 people [unclear] beam me up God he appears to them and obviously always has a message [unclear]. Hallelujah. Now. The first one we’re going to deal with is Daniel 7:13. Daniel saw the son of man. Okay. In.

▶ 24:28 Exodus I already gave you the scripture out of Isaiah. are you not he that has cut Rahab and wounded the dragon talking about Jesus being the arm of God Jesus doing this but when you go to Exodus it reports God did this and I’ve showed you time and time again you can’t separate the two. They are one and yet Jesus is God in the flesh but Jesus was back there in Egypt in the fire and the cloud pillar of fire by night and cloud by day Moses said if your presence don’t go with us what we’re not leaving here because what separates us from all the world is your presence and. [unclear] two and a half million people every day saw the presence of Jesus.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:22 Are you there so can he reveal himself to a whole nation yeah he can. He’s Jesus man now. Acts 7:55 Stephen he’s dying they’re stoning him he looks up and his eyes were open he his eyes were opened and he saw Jesus standing the son of man standing at the right hand of the glory of God okay and no matter what the oneness people say Stephen saw how many people. How many people did he see. Jesus God in the flesh standing by God the father how many were there. why did he use us and our because there is three expressions of God the Holy Spirit Jesus in God all right.

▶ 26:23 So get off your hobby horses and just accept what God says can I is that an amen yeah. Now. Paul in chapter 9 of Acts 1. Jesus revealed himself to Paul as a bright light a bright light that blinded him and a voice he actually heard the voice of Christ is it legal for Jesus to do that. Yeah yes you’re laughing because that’s a ridiculous question is. Now how did he do that when he seated at the right hand of the father and cannot come back until the second coming. Good question because he’s Jesus he can be at the right hand of the father and he can be all over the world and if he couldn’t be [unclear] Jesus said I’ll be with you up to the ends of the earth he’s not just at the right hand of the father folks he’s inside you and he can do that because he’s who Jesus don’t limit it don’t go twisting things.

What did John see in heaven?

▶ Watch this part (27:46)

Short answer: Revelation 5:6: a Lamb as though slain by the throne—the marred Jesus. Before his return he will reveal the post-crucified Christ to all nations, because his death gives the right to eternal life.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 27:46 [unclear] he’s God. in chapter 9 verse 10 Ananias saw a vision of Jesus and Jesus gave him a message to go pray for Paul alright he had a vision in. Chapter 22 verse 17 Paul had a vision of Jesus Jesus came to him revealed himself [unclear] showed himself and talked to Paul and then in Revelations 1 and throughout Revelations in Revelations 1 the Jesus that John saw the first Jesus was the Jesus with the white hair the fiery eyes and the feet of brass. Alright. Now. But later John saw Jesus as the son of man and then he saw him as what.

▶ 28:44 the lamb that was slain [unclear] there stood a lamb [unclear] by the throne of God the slain lamb the marred lamb the scarred lamb the disfigured lamb is up there in heaven and that is the Jesus that he said here on eyes that he would reveal to everyone. [unclear] alleluia and all nations hadn’t been found yet and yet God predicted it would happen so my statement is. Before Jesus comes a second time a second return of which people call the rapture. He said he’s going to reveal himself to all nations the whole marred

▶ 29:45 Post crucified Christ. Wow and why because that’s the Christ that gives you the right to eternal life. When you understand and you see the pain he went through for you the agony he went through for you why you hated him while you were still in your sin and you hated him he went through this pain for you. So you would not have to spend eternity in the lake of fire and be tormented for eternity he took it all and whether you call it his blood or his death his blood cleanses from all sin his death gives you the right to eternal life it’s Jesus the crucified Christ marred more than any man that he wants you to see.

▶ 30:51 and you in seeing that will see the price he paid for you and you were the cause of that price your sin and so he took your sin on him and you receive it accept it and follow God and he promises you eternal life and not just living forever up there but knowing God and the father. In that beautiful.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: Points to check: “Matthew 53” spoken for Isaiah 53; rapture picture “typical from 1830”; nations unknown until “the late 1700s”; “two and a half million” Israelites; Jesus appearing “seven times” after ascension and “12 times” after resurrection; the servant seeing chariots (2 Kings 6, Elisha) attributed garbled. Sensitive content kept as spoken: “these Indians and these barbarians” skinning prisoners; a bloodied boxer image; “oneness people” corrected. Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
