Jesus Invited 12 to Himself 05/26/2019: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Pastor David G. Kincer looks at the twelve Jesus invited to Himself: not scholars or philosophers but teachable men with flaws. Peter cursed and denied Him, all forsook Him, yet when they repented and Jesus opened their understanding, they never turned back. God still calls and refines ordinary people.
Why must all mankind hear about Jesus?
Short answer: God spoke by the prophets in the old days, but now He speaks to us through His Son.
▶ 0:00 We have been teaching on how important it is that all mankind. Knows and hears about Jesus Christ he spoke to us by prophets in the old days but now he speaks to us through his son Jesus so therefore everything that we speak everything that we seek for everything that we should be learning is what Jesus spoke Jesus fulfilled or Jesus promised and then we saw that the first words of Jesus as he said I must be about my father’s business then the second words he spoke has baptized me it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness so baptism is a right thing to do third he was filled with the Holy Ghost power so that is a right thing to do is to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then he was led by the spirit to be tested of Satan and Satan.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 1:1-2 (NKJV)
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
— Hebrews 1:1-2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00Why does God allow testing?
Short answer: Satan is used by God to test us and show our growth level; nothing tests us that we can’t endure.
▶ 0:55 Is used by God to test us to show us our growth level there’s nothing that can be tested that we can’t endure alright now we can create our own problems but here it’s just so you know where your growth level it and then he returned into power the spirit preaching the gospel of the kingdom the kingdom is now. The kingdom you have to repent and you got to believe the gospel it’s that simple we get so complicated I’ve been on the internet talking to people all over the world they get so complicated and they try to explain everything to their own opinion you got to watch people that take the scriptures and try to explain it to their own opinion the scriptures should explain themselves so when people get wordy and all this and said well this means that that means that and hebrew this and the greek that watch out when the Bible says love your neighbors excel there is no explanation it means love your neighbor as yourself that’s exactly what I mean don’t no harm to them.
▶ 2:04 Then it was Jesus’s custom to a symbol go to church go to the synagogue on Saturday and you got to remember he went to the synagogue and reading scriptures and talking to people that disagreed with him he went into their domain. And he not only read the scriptures but he obeyed the scriptures he fulfilled scriptures that we can’t fulfill but we can fulfill the scriptures that we can’t fulfill like being a light to the world okay now. We found no prophet is honored in his own hometown and that’s going to be true that’s why Jesus said your enemies shall be those of your own household. There’s conflicts when you get to know people they go hell they’re gonna be a Christian when you know their flaws and their shortcoming and their mistakes and then today we’re gonna be talking about Jesus invited twelve to himself and then sent them out all right.
Scripture in this part
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
— 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:55Who did Jesus choose?
Short answer: Twelve men, none from a seminary or Bible college, no Pharisee, Sadducee or philosopher. He never chose intellectuals.
▶ 3:09 The interesting thing here is he chose twelve and no one from a seminary no one from a Jewish Bible college. No Pharisee no Sadducee no zealots no Herodians no grecian. Sectors of the Jewish religion he went to none of them at all and wouldn’t it be amazing if God moved in this last day generation and just bypassed everybody’s ideas and got some common he but he got common ordinary people. To develop and to train for what he wanted to do he never went to the scribes the ones who studied the Bible and the ones that people came to for answers he never went to priests and the temple never went to him the ministers the priests and the temple even the high priest he never chose any civil ruler or anyone in government position he never chose a soldier.
▶ 4:19 You ever think about that all right he never chose intellectuals. No philosophers of a lot of philosophers in that day never went to them the Stoics and the Epicureans and so forth were there with their big philosophical ideas he chose no one that was famous no famous athlete no famous musician no famous singer. Okay no rich man no poor man everybody that Jesus chose were people that worked and provided for their own home and none of them were rich he did not choose poor people. Just something to think God. He chose common ordinary men that Matthew 13 said if you have a hearing ear.
What did Jesus see in His apostles?
Short answer: A heart that wanted to learn and respond; to him who has, more will be given.
▶ 5:17 If you have a seeing eye. More will be given to you and this is what Jesus saw in his apostles all right they had a heart that wanted to learn a heart that would responded. They had a spirit that wanted to see the things of God how many would like that yes. That’s the kind of people and don’t ever think that you’re just too common too low on a totem pole to be used of God because that’s exactly who he called all right people that were successful in daily life by providing their home taking care of their children and all that normal stuff so.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 13:12 (NKJV)
For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
— Matthew 13:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:17Who did the calling?
Short answer: Jesus called to Himself those He wanted, and they came to Him. Are you coming to Jesus or to psychology and philosophy?
▶ 6:12 We’re gonna go to Mark 13 verse 3, chapter 3 verse 13 and see what how Jesus did this so Jesus called to himself those he wanted now this is very important he did the calling he did the inviting didn’t Jesus say no man cometh of him the father except by me and man cometh up unto me except the father draws him see God’s got to be involved in it is not an intellectual thing it’s a spiritual thing. So he called them those he wanted well you got to understand the other scripture says that. Coming to me Jesus said all ye that labor and heavy laden and I will give you rest he says I will reject I will cast none away that come to me so he is what inviting the whole group up everybody that was there hear in his words were invited to come to that mountain top in that correct.
▶ 7:23 And they came they went up there to the mountaintop to be with him they came to him are you coming to Jesus are you trying to find answers in psychology philosophy. Religion your own ideas the tv sports. The answer is going to be coming to him he’s inviting all of us and we got to come to him that’s why through the week you can’t wait for church on Sunday through the week you got to get on your knees and come to him you got to open that book and come to him. Now he appointed or anointed. Twelve to be with him all right ordained he ordained placed in position twelve out of that group he chose twelve.
Scripture in this part
Mark 3:13 (NKJV)
And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.
— Mark 3:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:12What is an apostle?
Short answer: The highest office for humans in the church, carrying the authority of the One who sent him. He says we need a few apostles today.
▶ 8:20 To be apostles the apostle is the highest office for humans in the Christian church the apostle has all of the authority of the one that sent him. We need a few apostles in the earth today don’t we yeah. Now and what did he do he gave him authority to preach he gave them the authority the power to preach you can’t just go out and say you’re a preacher. He’s to give you authority now everybody can share Christ don’t get me wrong but this apostle is a different thing he gave him the authority and also he gave him the authority to cast out demons and heal all manner of sicknesses and listen to this he told him to do it for free whoa what that just that just destroy so many things today are you hearing me he told these guys that he not only told him to go out and do it for free he says don’t you take any money when you go.
Scripture in this part
Mark 3:14-15 (NKJV)
Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:
— Mark 3:14-15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:20Did their needs get met?
Short answer: They went out with nothing, preached, and their needs were taken care of, just like Jesus.
▶ 9:32 Now how many would do that today. Now this is God involvement folks and they went out and they did they preached and lo and behold they got their needs taken care of just like Jesus did have those of you know the Bible you know that the women that followed the crowd that followed Jesus. Provided for him they fed him they washed his clothes everything that Jesus needed these women provided for him and it wasn’t a gold-plated chariot it wasn’t living at the hilton in at the top pin house all right none of that it was just supplying the need are you with me now it takes a real calling of God it takes a real heart to hear and to see what God wants what God is doing to respond like this you talked to the natural everyday man and tell him to go out and preach the gospel to these villages and you don’t take any money with you and you can’t take up an offering boy I may tell you they’re going to tell you you’re nuts but these guys had something see they had that seeing-eye they had that hearing here they wanted God amen and all
Scripture in this part
Luke 9:3-6 (NKJV)
And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
— Luke 9:3-6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 9:32Why did they return rejoicing?
Short answer: Jesus’ name worked; but He told them to rejoice rather that their names are written in heaven.
▶ 11:03 of us can have. Now. They went out and they come back the Bible says they returned rejoicing that Jesus name worked you know he sold him to go out and heal in my name cast out devils in my name preach in my name and so forth and they did they come back said man your name works even the demons when we use their name they split see that’s the name of every name and church. That’s the name you want to use you don’t in our generation you don’t want to use God it’s generic the world has every religion.
▶ 11:45 Sin that same God is God for everybody but the Bible says Jesus is God and that name Jesus is what you preach in amen and that separates the real followers of Christ and just religion is the name of Jesus and it works and it’ll work in your life when you pray and you you’re going through something you can come and call on Jesus that name is powerful and he will work for you don’t rejoice because the demons are cast out and the sick are healed healed and people are responding to the gospel rejoice because your names are written in heaven how many of you got up rejoicing this morning just for the fact I’m going to heaven my name is in the lamb’s book of life oh yeah I’m gonna get this frown off of my face and I’m gonna smile because man my name is in the lamb’s book of life.
▶ 12:48 The Jesus gives us things to do but we still go around moping. When you’re moping just to remember your names in the book and I get a smile on your face you got something to look forward to now. If their names are all written in the lamb’s book of life let me ask you a question that I asked on the inner yet when I’m talking to the world we’re all of the apostles saved. They’re all names written in the book of life. My once saved always people saved choked at this one. They say no Judas wasn’t because he was a thief and he betrayed Christ I go oh okay Judas isn’t then is the rest of them safe yes the rest of them are safe all right very good I just opened the trap for them all right.
Scripture in this part
Luke 10:17-20 (NKJV)
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
— Luke 10:17-20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:03Was Peter saved when he cursed and denied Jesus?
Short answer: He asks this of those who believe once saved always saved; Jesus said if you deny Me I will deny you.
▶ 14:01 Peter cursed God. Curse brought a curse on himself and and denied Christ and Jesus said if you deny me I will what deny you before my father. If you curse is it a sin is it a hell sin absolutely. If you did not Christ is that a sin is it a hell sin yes it is. And Peter not only did dec but he rebuked he corrected God he says you get down the cross. No you can’t down the cross and Jesus said get behind me Satan now he said that in a phrase that Satan is there to oppose and resist him you’re opposing me Peter you’re resisting me how many Christians tell God what’s best a lot of us that’s why in Thessalonians when it says they said in the temple of God and proclaiming that they are God why they’re writing their own laws they’re making their own rules they’re smarter than God that’s Peter and smarter than God all right when Jesus wanted worse his feet not mine man not mine.
▶ 15:25 So I asked them if Peter was saved. What happened once saved always say does something wrong here. And. They don’t answer back they don’t know they don’t know what to say they just flat-out don’t answer me back see. The truth is Judas was saved at one time because his name was written in the lamb’s book of life. But have you know that name can be blotted out of the lamb’s book of life yes that’s it not what the Bible said yeah. Hallelujah. Are you with me this morning. This is ammunition for you to talk to people okay so Judas was a thief the Bible says and Satan entered into him on the night of the betrayal and he betrayed Jesus all right so he’s sin they got no problem with that the problem they got is he never was saved while Peter was saved they just told me now Peter committed a greater sin than being a thief.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 26:74 (NKJV)
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.
— Matthew 26:74 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:01Matthew 10:33 (NKJV)
But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
— Matthew 10:33 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:01What kind of people did Jesus choose?
Short answer: A thief, a doubter, two he calls mama’s boys, and men arguing over who was greatest. He has a lot of refining to do in us too.
▶ 16:41 Not greater than betray him but greater than being a thief. So. We got. We got an interesting group of people Jesus is choosing that’s what I’m trying to show you. Thomas doubted the resurrection of Jesus Jesus told me who’s gonna die on on the third day be raised erected and when the news came Thomas had no way no no I’d have to see the nail prints in his hand and he said no I didn’t have and he had been taught over and over and over that Jesus was gonna die and be resurrected and the Bible says he doubted the resurrection. Hallelujah any of you ever have any doubts about anything yeah. Then you got James and Joseph smarr asked for their her sons to sit by Jesus on his right hand and on his left.
▶ 17:40 Now I can’t say this positively but it sounds like we got two mama’s boys. Two boys that can’t leave mama and I’ve seen him I’ve seen him in my generation mom’s want to hang on to their adult children and the mom goes to Jesus and as I want you to put my boys on your right hand on your left hand and your kingdom yeah. Cheese. The Bible says a man shall leave his mother and father get married and cleave into his wife there’s a time you got to leave mom’s you gotta let them go they gotta focus on their own family and their own relationship keep your nose out of their business could that be an amen but we got two mama’s boys on the apostle.
▶ 18:36 Committee heir to them and then all 12 asked who would be the greatest I want to be the number or no apostle. Which one of us is the greatest they want to be the one in high position. This is what he chose common ordinary men with common ordinary problems and common failures. Sound like us absolutely and then you got Matthew the tax collector that everybody hated I mean here he got somebody on his apostle committee that all the community hate he comes to their door wanting money and they hate him.
▶ 19:32 This is the kind of people Jesus chose folks. We are just like that now we aren’t chosen to be apostles but we’re chosen to serve God and he’s got a lot of refining to do doesn’t he hallelujah. You know we make mistakes and we sin especially as a young Christian you make a lot up that’s my point I’m trying to get across to the once saved always saved in the anti once saved always say a young believers gonna make a lot of mistakes and sin if he does not have salvation security he’s going to give up are you there but on the other hand if he does not have hope that he can grow and overcome Satan and overcome sin he’s going to give up.
Scripture in this part
Luke 22:24 (NKJV)
Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.
— Luke 22:24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 18:36What did Jesus tell Peter?
Short answer: When you are converted, when you repent and turn back, strengthen your brethren.
▶ 20:32 Hey man we need the balance don’t we and these guys have got some problems so let’s see what happens. Luke 22:32 Jesus said Peter. When you are converted. When you repent when you turn back. From cursing and denying me and trying to tell me what to do so what does Jesus say Peter needed to repent okay he did these things but repentance is a higher law in that right and when we admit were wrong and we just say we’re going to turn from that wrong and we work on turning from it.
▶ 21:28 That works. And he said when you’ve repented and turned back and you’re converted your change back to what you’re supposed to be then you strengthen your brethren this strengthen is used in the scriptures but it really means here converted turn back it’s another word which is like it but it’s it doesn’t repeat like repent repent the repeating you understand what I’m saying maybe use the word strengthen that means you turn your brethren back to a fixed direction the direction that they were before they scattered see all 12 of them scattered all 12 of them forsook Christ all 11 we only eleven now all right Jesus Judas killed himself before gia Jesus died he killed himself the next morning.
Scripture in this part
Luke 22:32 (NKJV)
But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
— Luke 22:32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:32Did all the apostles forsake Him?
Short answer: Yes, all scattered, but they repented and changed; after two days He will revive us.
▶ 22:23 [unclear] got eleven but all the eleven scattered they forsook the Bible says they forsook him and the Bible over nice other scriptures if you forsake me I’m going to forsake you see that’s a sin didn’t it all right. So Jesus is telling the Peter he needs to get converted so what did Jesus do he came to Peter. Peter was in the boat remember and Jesus is on the seashore and when Peter recognized it with Jesus what did he do jumped out of that boat and returned to Jesus. Alleluia it’s a when we make mistakes it’s not the time to go fishing or go back to our daily life it’s the time to pursue Christ amen.
▶ 23:18 Repent and change all of these apostles change now. It spoke of this in Hosea chapter six verse two after two days he will revive us the third day is the day after today. See they’re not repeating the word they’re seeing in a different way because that’s bad grammar. The third day he will revive us the third day he will restore us and that’s exactly what Jesus did he went to his apostles and restored them revived them and gave them new life amen. Even though they made all these mistakes Jesus restored him and folks if he can restore these guys he can restore us can revive us he can change us is that an amen yes.
Scripture in this part
Mark 14:50 (NKJV)
Then they all forsook Him and fled.
— Mark 14:50 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 22:23Hosea 6:2 (NKJV)
After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.
— Hosea 6:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:18What did Jesus do after rising?
Short answer: He opened their understanding to comprehend the Scriptures. It takes Jesus or the Holy Spirit to give understanding.
▶ 24:18 Its prophesy and we will live in his sight all right now. What did Jesus do when he rose he opened their understanding to understand the scriptures even though they had been hearing it all these years is it possible that said in church and hear the word and not really understand it absolutely. If you don’t read and you don’t seek and you don’t study one sermon a week is not going. To develop your christianity. One mil a week isn’t going to make you have a strong body and one sermon a week is not going to make you a strong spiritual person and only he can open your understanding but how can he do that if you don’t read and you don’t study and you don’t go to Bible studies to hear the word of God.
▶ 25:24 And that’s what I tell the folks on the internet I said you know it takes Jesus or the Holy Spirit to give us understanding or talking to a muslim. And he’s given me all this garbage and I said sir I given you what the Bible says and it takes Jesus this Bible that I’m giving you says it takes Jesus and the Holy Spirit to reveal spiritual things to you I pray that you are that you would seek Jesus and he will give you understanding and he rejected Jesus seeeen rejected Jesus he rejected the word but he got the message that’s our job our job is not to save even convert before our job as to what give them the message point them to Jesus now they were all filled with the Holy Ghost power you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you and you will be witnesses unto me a light to the world that your good works will bring glory to your father in heaven that power the Holy Ghost.
Scripture in this part
Luke 24:45 (NKJV)
And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
— Luke 24:45 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 24:18How did understanding change the disciples?
Short answer: They never denied God again, never cursed God and never quit.
▶ 26:41 That understanding the word change these disciples just like that never did they deny God again never did they tell God how he should do things never did they curse God never did they quit they didn’t quit when they were persecuted they didn’t quit when people turned on him all of asia left Paul after God did all of those things all of asia left Paul after Paul was used of God to bring asia to God and Paul didn’t stumble one bit just kept moving forward why because Jesus fulfilled his promise to restore to revive to open her understanding to the scriptures and filled them with power to be a light to the world and they didn’t have divisions they didn’t have quarreling among themselves they did agree in unity.
Is a move of God coming?
Short answer: Yes. Watchmen will see eye to eye; God restores everyone who serves Him, not just ministers.
▶ 27:51 And people on the internet disagree with me that there’s a move of God coming we’re all the watchmen we’ll see eye to eye we we just can’t believe because we look at things in the natural that a Paul powerful God can do something before Christ comes that causes the people to see eye to eye is he that big yes he is he’s is that powerful does he gonna is he going to fulfill every promise that he promised to us yes. He is folks we serve a powerful big gun. Remember when Jesus had a big crowd every one of them left him when he asked for commitment but the apostles see they had hunger they had the hearing err they had a I that wanted to see and they didn’t follow the crowd and Jesus didn’t bet and I just kept moving forward amen got a new crowd.
▶ 28:53 Got a new crowd and church. As. People that serve God I don’t care where you’re at in Christ you don’t have to be a minister or apostle prophet evangelist pastor a teacher for God to restore you renew you convert you and change you when you fall down pick you up amen he will do it but we have to seek him and I invite you this morning to seek him.
