Intro to Bible Economics, Part 2: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
In the second part of Intro to Bible Economics, Pastor David G. Kincer describes the wise worker from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes: honest, diligent, educated, skilled and keeping up with technology. He teaches that two are better than one in marriage and work, that Paul commanded “if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat,” and that a believer who will not provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever.
What is a wise worker, according to Proverbs? (Proverbs 13:11; 14:23)
Short answer: He says a wise worker does not gain dishonest wealth; the employee should give an honest day’s work and the employer an honest day’s pay. He says if employers paid employees as they would like to be paid “we’d have this thing cured and that’s Christian character,” and in all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty.
▶ 0:00 So let’s look at what a wise worker is. Proverbs 13:11 dishonest wealth will be diminished dishonest wealth is not a wise worker he who gathers by labor will increase the wise guy knows that he shouldn’t treat people dishonestly, do dishonorably in his business he should give his employer an honest day’s work and the employer should give the employee an honest day’s pay. Amen. See if the employer would pay the employee like he would like to be paid if he was reversed we’d have this thing cured and that’s Christian character they there no law big enough to handle that Christian character handle is that it’s a second biggest commandment do unto others as you would have them do unto you okay and Proverbs 14:23 and all labour there is profit increase I can supply the needs of my life my family food clothing and shelter but idle chatter leads only to poverty and the idle suffers hunger.

Short answer: He reads that the desire of the lazy man kills him because his hands refuse to labor, and says in Proverbs “if you’re idle you’re going to go hungry,” and hunger will drive a person to work. He says “Christianity’s is the tough road,” not “get saved and all your problems are over.”
▶ 1:21 When you’re idle and not working. Nothing’s coming in and you can’t stay with mom and dad all your life. And a good mom and dad wouldn’t let you stay with mom and dad although your. Proverbs 21:25 the desire of the lazy man kills him destroys him for his hands refused to labor and that’s because no one is coming to the rescue oh you poor guy you don’t have any food because you’re too lazy to work oh my gosh here go to McDonald’s and buy you something he goes to the local bar and gets him another jug. Yeah in America Christianity if you’re really a great church you’re helping the drug addicts and the alcoholics you know feeding the lazy bums, but
▶ 2:25 not here in Proverbs father says if you’re idle you’re going to go hungry and the Proverbs also says hunger that tummy will drive a person to work. [unclear]. Christianity’s is the tough road. None of this grace and faith nonsense I get saved that’s what I was told when I got saved, get saved and all your problems are over. Not literally they told me that over and over I set in that pew for a long time [unclear] what they said, you just roller skate through life I got saved and I didn’t know I had so many problems until I got saved, till the light was shined on me.

— Proverbs 16:26 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:35 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Why is the sleep of a laboring man sweet? (Ecclesiastes 5:12; 2:21)
Short answer: He says whether he earns little or a decent salary, the laboring man sleeps sweetly because “he pays his bills” and doesn’t have to worry about creditors, even if he eats beans and tortillas. He reads that there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, knowledge and skill.
▶ 3:22 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet whether he eats little or he’s got a little salary always got a decent salary his sleep is sweet why he don’t have to worry about the creditors coming to kick him out of his house okay he pays his bills so he eats beans and tortillas gotta warn the other guys eatin steak and potato. They’re paying their bills they’re supplying their families’ needs, they can go to sleep [unclear], are you there? Ecclesiastes 2:21. There is a man whose labor is with wisdom knowledge and skill.
Scripture in this part
Ecclesiastes 5:12 (NKJV)
The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, Whether he eats little or much; But the abundance of the rich will not permit him to sleep.
— Ecclesiastes 5:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:23 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Ecclesiastes 2:21 (NKJV)
For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; yet he must leave his heritage to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.
— Ecclesiastes 2:21 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:10Why are education and a job skill so important?
Short answer: He says “You got to get an education,” reading, writing and math, with homework at home, and parents should turn off the TV and prepare their children for tomorrow. He says we need college, a tech school or on-the-job training for a job skill, and urges women to have a job skill “under your belt” because people are getting divorced.
▶ 4:16 I cannot emphasize enough how important it was that I went to the number one high school in America, that I studied there and I learned there and I got educated there while my friends were dropping out of school and then they want to make big bucks and then you know they want somebody to harm and just make money you know why they goofed off now catting around in there [unclear] catting around in a roadster you know and being cool man being cool. You got to get an education you gotta know how to read you got to write you gotta know to calculate you got to have math and you’ve got to get it in you and you can’t sit there in school [unclear] like a dumb idiot and expect to [unclear] this stuff gets in your head you got to go home and you got to do homework and you ought to get it and you go to bug mom and dad until you get it at home I don’t understand this.
▶ 5:30 But not us oh poor mijo mijo. They’re just under a lot of stress uh-huh they need to play Nintendo games and watch Disney on tv. Yeah. Turn off the tv get into the books and prepare your child for tomorrow can I hear an amen there’s some people that work with wisdom and knowledge and a skill a job skill and we need to go to college or go to a tech school or learn on the job a job skill. That’s a real place for a good amen in church it’s got nothing to do with the second coming got nothing to do with the thrills and the whistles that everybody wants to hear it’s got to do with good everyday life can I hear an amen, yes.
▶ 6:31 And you have a right to work six days. Bible gives you that right. Aren’t you glad you came to church today? I can’t emphasize enough. You say, well, I’m 40 years old. [unclear] Learn a job skill you still got quite a few decades to go my friend. [unclear] women, fifty percent of people are getting divorced. You better have a job skill under your belt ladies because if that knuckleheaded husband gets a hair in his nose and goes off the deep end you don’t [unclear] raising your kids on welfare [unclear] and that’s really a good place for an amen and gentlemen it isn’t just men leaving the women women are leaving the men good men.
Should you keep up with knowledge in your work? (Proverbs 14:4)
Short answer: He reads that where no oxen are the crib is clean, “but much increase comes by the strength of the oxen.” He says you have to keep up with the knowledge of your generation, because “the computer just threw the typewriter right out the door,” and “if you got a job for goodness sake keep skillful on it.”
▶ 7:36 For some lousy man man and a man has to have his act together you may not have a woman at home to take care of those kids you got to help the money to get it all done wow that was good. But grace and faith don’t let me think that way we know God just, I’m God’s child, he’s just gonna bless my socks off. No [unclear]. My God, [unclear] pray about it. Yeah pray about it and get down in the [unclear] line that’s what you do. Hi. Continuing with wisdom knowledge and skill Proverbs 14:4 where no oxen are the crib is clean don’t have to clean up after that dumb ox don’t have to feed him twice a day don’t have to brush him don’t have to do anything man forget the oxen but Proverbs always has a balance but much increase comes by the strength of the oxen.
▶ 8:44 You got so much increase you could pay somebody to clean the crib. Now what’s he saying you got to keep up with the knowledge of your generation industrial revolution you got to keep up with it the technical revolution revolution you got to keep up with a church. Nobody wants typewriter repairman’s anymore I used to know typewriter repairman’s the computer just threw the typewriter right out the door. Are you there? [unclear] now you got to get back and get educated you got to be wise you got to give it a program can I hear an amen and if you got a job for goodness sake keep skillful on it. I am, I chose to be a preacher I chose to teach the word I have to spend time keeping on top of things I got to keep that word sharpen me and I gotta keep what’s going on in the generation around me I can’t just sit back and [unclear] yeah this will work today [unclear].
Scripture in this part
Proverbs 14:4 (NKJV)
Where no oxen are, the trough is clean; But much increase comes by the strength of an ox.
— Proverbs 14:4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:26Should Christians use modern technology? (Daniel 12:4)
Short answer: He says “A wise worker will use technology,” because God prophesied in Daniel 12 that knowledge shall be increased at the time of the end. He says God put it in us to use electricity, the automobile, the airplane and the computer, and those who reject technology for religious reasons should “wake up and believe the Bible.”
▶ 9:59 You got if you’re a bricklayer you got to stay on the cutting edge of bricklaying. Amen. A wise worker will use technology. Daniel 12 verse 4, the time of the end he’s talking about at the time of the end knowledge shall be increased we told you this before and it happened the industrial revolution the technical revolution and I don’t know what other revenue information revolutions here I don’t know what else is coming but we got to keep up with it and I’ll tell you something if the Amish really understood their Bible they would not have rejected the industrial and a technical revolution because God prophesied it was going to happen and they don’t have to punish themselves riding around and a horse on a buggy and lighting candles because they don’t want electricity God put it in us to use electricity to use the automobile to use the airplane to use the computer Amish, wake up and believe the Bible.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 12:4 (NKJV)
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
— Daniel 12:4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:25Is enjoying the good of your labor a gift of God? (Ecclesiastes 5:18)
Short answer: He reads that it is good to eat, drink and enjoy the good of all your labor, and “it is the gift of God,” but you have to labor and toil to receive that gift. He says the Bible has solid principles for everyday life, mostly condensed in Proverbs: “a proverb a day keep stupidity away.”
▶ 11:15 Hello there. We’re not some great spiritual person because we’ve used candles or a horse and buggy if you knew your Bible you knew God had ordained it way before it happened Ecclesiastes 5:18 it is good and proper for one to eat and drink and to enjoy the good of all his what? Labor. Say the word labor, in which he toils, say that word, toils, that’s serious labor under the sun right here on earth how many days of his life all the days you woke up all the days you enjoy the good of your labor it is his inheritance it is the gift of God a gift but [unclear] people and a lot of ministers, a gift is a free thing you don’t do anything for it they’re lying to you.
▶ 12:24 Sounds really cool I get something for nothing but what do I got to do to get the gift of enjoying the good of my labor I got a labor I got a toil that’s serious labor this is Bible church not everything is about the foursquare city coming down out of heaven with streets of gold and walls of jasper and pearly gates and all that there is good, solid principles for everyday life in this Bible and most of them are condensed in Proverbs if I could get people to read a proverb a day they would keep common sense in them and keep stupidity away that’s my saying a proverb a day keep stupidity away. Now.
Scripture in this part
Ecclesiastes 5:18 (NKJV)
Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage.
— Ecclesiastes 5:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:07Is eternal life unconditional?
Short answer: He says “there is no Bible for unconditional love.” For eternal life he says you have to accept that Christ died on the cross for your sins and took your punishment, admit you are wrong when you do what He says is wrong, and turn from that wrong.
▶ 13:20 Eternal life they’ll tell you God’s love is unconditional there is no Bible for unconditional love. Show me. For me to have eternal life I have to do something what is it I got accept that Christ died on the cross for my sins he took my place my punishment and then I have to admit I’m wrong. When I do things that he says is wrong I got to admit I’m wrong and I got to turn from that wrong then I get eternal life. Most Christians in America living in a fantasy world and it shows by what’s happening to our nation.
Why are two better than one in marriage and work? (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
Short answer: He says two working as a team get things done in half the time, and in the home two are better than one when they work together instead of one trying to dominate. He says quarreling “is the trick of the enemy”; Satan tries to divide the home.
▶ 14:21 Ecclesiastes 4:9 and 10. Two are better than one immediately I think of the marriage. Two are better than one. Because they have a good reward for their labor a good reward for their labor you know I can I can work pretty good and get things done but when Mr. [unclear] gets up there and works with me I get things done in half the time. [unclear] comes along. And we get it done and a third of the time why because we work as a team we order ourselves we just we know what we want to get done we just do it we don’t argue who’s going to lead who’s going to do this and do that and let me tell you in your home two are better than one.
▶ 15:24 In the marriage don’t try to run your marriage by I mean you’re home by yourself God has. Scripturally given you power. To get everything you need accomplished in at home because two working together has a great reward but if the wife tries to dominate dominate the man or the man chose to dominate the wife and [unclear] start arguing, start quarreling it says in the Bible it’s better for a guy to live in the desert or a woman then with a brawling woman or a quarrelsome woman a nagging woman in the same house or a nagging man and this is the trick of the enemy he comes and tries to divide the home he wants one of you nagging the other he wants one of you wanting to fight at the turn of every little day well you know like it done that well yeah.
Scripture in this part
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NKJV)
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
— Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:29Proverbs 21:19 (NKJV)
Better to dwell in the wilderness, Than with a contentious and angry woman.
— Proverbs 21:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does unity multiply productivity? (Deuteronomy 32:30)
Short answer: He says one will put a thousand to flight and two will put ten thousand to flight, so two can speed up productivity by ten times. He says nowhere will this work better than when a husband and wife unite around raising their children and stop fighting each other, realizing “that’s the enemy.”
▶ 16:28 He wants you to turn on yourself because he says. If one of them falls the other one is there to pick up his companion but woe to him who is alone when he falls he has no one to help him up and so we got to get this in our marriage we got to get this in our home we got to get it in the church we got to get it in the work world a team gets a lot more done in fact in. Deuteronomy 32:31 one will put a thousand to flight and two will put 10,000 to flight, two can speed up the productivity by ten times. And no where will this work better when a man and a woman who has children they unite around raising those children and and and making that home the best it could be and stop quarreling with each other start brawling with each other fighting with each other realize that’s the enemy Jesus said an enemy has done this. [unclear]
Scripture in this part
Deuteronomy 32:30 (NKJV)
How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the LORD had surrendered them?
— Deuteronomy 32:30 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:59Matthew 13:28 (NKJV)
He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’
— Matthew 13:28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:36 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What is a helpmate, and why should couples unite against the real enemy? (Leviticus 26:8)
Short answer: He says God brought Adam a helpmate, a helper, and if Adam were hurt Eve would need to get the job done. He says Satan wants spouses to attack each other, which destroys your spiritual life, your children and the church, so “in the home we need to stop quarreling and fighting in unite against the enemy.”
▶ 17:40 Let’s attack the enemy and less work with our spouses and that’s a good place to say amen. And you know in Genesis the helpmate. God brought Adam a helpmate, his wife, a helpmate isn’t ain’t a helper. Hello. If Adam had fallen out of the tree and broke his back who’s responsible to get the whole job done now Eve. She can’t sit around oh no I married you for you can’t even get out of a tree right now here we are we got nothing coming in.
▶ 18:36 My mama told me you’d be like this you [unclear] idiot. They’re not Satan doing it he wants you to attack each other he wants you to divide it. Not only will it destroy your spiritual life it will destroy your children and it will destroy the church and that’s what he knows to do the best is destroy you now. That was good preaching right there if you can catch that that was good stuff you got to put your attention on the real enemy in Leviticus 26:8 it’s a five times increase a hundred will put so many to flight and a thousand will put so many so it’s a he starts with a hundred okay and it’s still 5 times the increase in the church world we need to quit arguing and fighting and unite against the enemy amen in the home we need to stop quarreling and fighting in unite against the enemy that wants to destroy our home.

Genesis 2:18 (NKJV)
And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
— Genesis 2:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 18:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Leviticus 26:8 (NKJV)
Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.
— Leviticus 26:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:21How serious is God about work? (2 Thessalonians 3:7-12)
Short answer: He says Paul and the apostles did not eat any man’s bread for nothing but worked as an example, and commanded that if anyone would not work neither should he eat. He says Paul did not merely suggest it; he commanded it “by the Lord Jesus Christ,” and if Jesus were here “he’d be saying the same thing get to work.”
▶ 19:53 And shame on Christians that haven’t got this basic stuff down. Now how serious is God about work how serious is he. Is he just suggesting that I work. Is it just a nice political suggestion yeah. Politically correct you know got to be politically correct. 2 Thessalonians 3:7, follow us Paul said us apostles follow us apostles. We did not eat any man’s bread for nothing mmm. But we worked to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us this example is not in prayer it’s not in prophecy it’s not in gifts of healing this example is in work can I hear an amen Paul was a tentmaker he had a a group with him seven or more all the time to help him in his ministry and they worked.
▶ 21:14 When we were with you we commanded you that if any would not work neither should he eat we hear some of you do not work at all but are busybodies, meddling in other people’s affairs now to them we command whoo did he say we suggest now we suggest I’m going to put a lot of empathy in this I’m going to sweeten my voice so that you know you can accept what I got to say and you know I would highly recommend I would highly suggest that you work and provide for yourself you know no he said like a drill sergeant get to up if you know what you need don’t you feed those people over there not working.
▶ 22:12 Whoo yeah hey man I got one amen. And then he adds I exhort this by the Lord Jesus Christ and what’s he saying if Jesus were here he’d be saying the same thing get to work. Amen. But oh we don’t want to be a tyrant over the people they don’t want to be brutal we don’t want to use tough language how do you command I guarantee you them guys in war leading soldiers don’t go troop number one would you guys take the left flank over there and troop number two which you guys take the other flank over there no bullets are flying all over [unclear].
Scripture in this part
2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 (NKJV)
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
— 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:32Should you work quietly and eat your own bread?
Short answer: He says many people “can’t talk and work at the same time”: “if you can’t talk and work shut up keep working.” He says you are to give your employer an honest day’s work, not eye service or pleasing men, and many would-be businessmen are really making far less than they think.
▶ 23:11 And do those troops then I go whoa no we don’t want it you’re not you’re not being nice yes this nice. That with all quietness they work and eat their own bread you know how many people I meet they can’t talk and work at the same time. Yeah I start talking to them and they just stop what they’re doing and [unclear] yeah I go, It’s supposed to be working. Shut up and work if you can’t talk and work shut up keep working. And then we wonder why we can’t keep a job and we can’t make a living you know how many people it’s off its off the scale how many people have gone as business man supposedly business man I’ve gone I’ve examined their business and the bottom line they were charging twenty dollars an hour fifteen dollars an hour but the bottom line they were really making about five bucks an hour.
▶ 24:25 When I got it on paper and showed them I said you know the best thing for you is go work for somebody you’re just not a businessman you can’t even remember to bring all your tools to work we got to learn to work and talk or just taught work and mostly talk is meddling in other people’s affairs also you’re supposed to work not being eye service only when the boss is around and not men pleasers you do things so people will like you so the other employees want to do this and you want them to like you so you do wrong things on the job. Bible says you can’t do that you got to give your employer an honest day’s work.
How did Paul support the weak? (Acts 20:33-35)
Short answer: He reads that Paul coveted no one’s silver or gold and his own hands provided for him and his team, “remember the words of Jesus it is more blessed to give than to receive.” He says the weak here are the financially weak, and Paul supported them by not taking anything from them.
▶ 25:14 Second, Acts 20 verse 33, Paul said I’ve coveted no one’s silver gold or apparel you know these hands provided before my necessities and for those who were with me Paul was a tentmaker he worked and he provided for his whole team I have shown you in every way by labouring like this that you must support the weak remember the words of Jesus it is more blessed to give than to receive now he’s not talking about the sickly weak the physically weak he’s talking about the financially weak he’s talking about the poor folks and how did he support the poor folks he didn’t give him anything here how did he support the weak by not taking anything from them.

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
— Acts 20:33-35 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:16Is someone who won’t provide for his family worse than an unbeliever? (1 Timothy 5:8; Matthew 5:16)
Short answer: He reads that if anyone does not provide for his own household he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever, and says “Grace and faith has to produce fruit the fruit of work.” He says our light shines through good works, and our example to the world begins with providing for ourselves and our family.
▶ 26:15 He didn’t go to these poor folks okay give me your time come here offering okay give me your food workman is worthy of his hire come on gimme gimme gimme gimme no he supported those that were weak financially by working himself and taking care of himself and his team now you get a mega church minister to do that. 1 Timothy 5:8 how serious is God about work if any provide not for his own especially for those of his own house he has denied the faith he is worse than an infidel you’re worse than unbeliever if you break the fourth commandment you’re worse than unbeliever [unclear] unbelievers work. Grace and faith has to produce fruit the fruit of work.
▶ 27:11 Matthew 5:16 let your light so shine before men that they may see your good what not faith your good faith your good grace you’re good what works and what will that do will glorify bring honor to God up in heaven and so our example to the world church begins with providing for ourself and our family that is important can I hear an amen and not leave the other undone. And I submit to every Christian that’s listening to stand up for Bible economics. Stand up for embracing Bible morals and stand up and lead the way to national success in America. We need to stand up and lead the way we’re supposed to be leaders.

He gives “Deuteronomy 32:31” for one putting a thousand to flight and two ten thousand; that verse is Deuteronomy 32:30 (shown). His statements about his high school, the divorce rate, the Amish and mega church ministers are his own and are not verified here. Several garbled words are marked [unclear].
