In the series on serving God in every season, the message asks how we serve when the miracles stop. Joshua chose to serve the Lord, Solomon neglected his relationship, Mary chose the good part, and those Jesus healed were told to go home, serve and sin no more. It calls for daily bread, wisdom to build our homes, love in marriage, forgiving ourselves and others, and passing on Christlike character.

How do we serve God when He seems not to be moving?

▶ Watch this part (33:16)

Short answer: In Joshua’s time the manna, cloud and plagues had stopped, yet the Captain of the host was with them; Joshua said choose this day whom you will serve.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 33:16 Hallelujah we’re going to get into a message this morning and we’re talking about serving God in every season and uh when God’s not moving or serving the Lord that’s the title of this. Message as we learned two weeks ago during the time of Joshua when they were taking over the land of Canaan and conquering Canaan they were overcoming the enemy during that time in the wilderness they had mana from heaven coming down around the camp and they would go and get that mana and there was also a rock that followed them the rock had water that was coming out of it it was a miracle this rock would follow them also I mean think about having to carry a rock it depends on how big it was if it was small maybe somebody you know it followed them and it gave uh.

▶ 34:17 Water there was no more visible presence they had a presence of God uh that would follow them in in the form of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night the miracles had stopped there were no more plagues that to defeat their enemies like they did in in Egypt there was nothing to get hyped up about except that they were conquering the captain of the host was with them and how many you know you want God with you when you’re fighting the battle we we want to overcome the uh enemy in our day amen uh the enemy in our day has opened its mouth very wide and is uh cursed God and mock God in so many ways and suppressing his laws and his truth throughout our country and we want God to win and overcome in our country amen don’t we want the captain of host coming and helping us fight the battle.

▶ 35:13 Yes so they had that going for them and Joshua says this famous statement he says if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord choose for yourselves this day who you will serve but as for me in my house will serve the Lord Joshua 24:15 and so they had reached the promised land they had reached the pinnacle they they were winning the promised land and Joshua is answering the question of what do we do now we have the promised land we have uh reached our goal what do we do now and so his answer was we are going to serve the Lord amen we’re not going to turn back we came all this way and we’re not going to start serving and following another God we’re going to follow our king.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

What happened when Solomon finished praying?

▶ Watch this part (36:06)

Short answer: Fire came down from heaven, consumed the offering, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple so the priests could not enter.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 36:06 Amen is that Makai is that you oh my goodness gracious he’s gotten older now and I don’t even recognize him how you doing good morning buddy good to see you all the way from the East Coast yeah wow good to see you buddy great great to see you 2 Chronicles 7:1 when Solomon had finished praying fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices and the glory of the Lord filled the temple so here is another example Solomon was managing and oversaw the building of the temple and and Solomon’s temple was a beautiful beautiful temple they had gold with you know gold was just everywhere with uh it was abundant they had silver sil silver there was unlimited silver they had everything they needed to build this temple and he oversaw it and the people worked hard in building this temple when they were finished he dedicated the temple with a prayer and at the end of this prayer God.

▶ 37:13 Comes and the glory of the Lord filled the temple and the priest could not enter the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord had filled the lord’s house and so they had a great visitation from God amen how many would like that God coming in here so bright his fire in here like whoa whoa what is happening you know that fire that uh like the burning bush it doesn’t consume right it’s not hot uh but uh where you just sit back and you’re like uh God do your thing do keep do uh touch move let your glory come. Amen wouldn’t that be a wonderful visitation and not just here but every church in the united states and every uh place and for all the people of the world to see what is happening over there what is happening in that place what a visitation that would be.

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Chronicles 7:1-2 (NKJV)

Does God hear our prayers?

▶ Watch this part (38:10)

Short answer: Yes; the Lord appeared to Solomon and said I have heard your prayer. Whether God shows up in fire or not, we keep serving Him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 38:10 Amen and in uh verse 12 the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said I have heard your prayer it’s important we know that God hears our prayers and Solomon prayed a very special prayer you know I don’t know if he he sat down and he thought about this or but he had a very very specific prayer you know if the people turn away and they uh you know decide to sin against you uh we pray that when if they come to this temple and and get back to what is truth and right that you will forgive them and in this is the famous scripture here in two scriptures 714 it says if my people God resp responds and says if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves turn from their wicked ways and pray seek my my face I will heal them and heal their land amen and so that was God pro that was God’s promise to his people if they come back to the temple and serve him and turn from their wicked ways and pray and seek his face that he would uh restore them back and that’s what he did with the judges through in after after Joshua’s day people would they turned from God and God brought them back uh keeping his promise to them so he dedicated the temple with prayer and God responded but after this there was 13 years where there was no visitation from God and the question is what do we do between the visitations how do you serve God in every season whether God is coming

▶ 39:40 in a cloud or fire or doing something amazing or not do you give up and quit of course. Not we got to keep serving the Lord we got to take on the character and the the the the we got to take on the challenge that Joshua is bringing and he’s saying as for me and my house we’re going to serve the Lord we’re going to serve the Lord no matter what is happening through the highs and the lows through the visitations through the non-v visitations we’re going to serve the Lord and in uh solom as you know later in his life his his heart turned away from God he left God and he served the gods of his wives and concubines and there is a difference we want to understand and recognize there’s a difference between ministering for the Lord doing the work of the Lord and ministering to the Lord and Solomon he created this temple he managed it he he provided all the stuff for it but he neglected to come directly to God himself minister to the Lord and have a relationship with with God directly and he had this great prayer and he wrote the Proverbs and other books Ecclesiastes right was written by.

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Chronicles 7:12-14 (NKJV)

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

What can we learn from Mary and Martha?

▶ Watch this part (41:09)

Short answer: Solomon neglected his relationship with God; we can’t only do the work of the Lord, we need to sit at Jesus’ feet like Mary chose to.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 41:09 Solomon but somewhere in his life he neglected his relationship with God we can’t just minister for the Lord and do the work of the Lord we have to have our own relationship where we sit at Jesus’s feet and know him for ourselves. Another great example of this is Mary and Martha as you know in Luke 10:38 a certain woman named Martha welcomed him Jesus into her house and she had a sister called Mary who also sat at Jesus’s feet and heard his word but Martha was distracted with much serving and she approached him and said Lord do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone tell her to help me.

▶ 41:57 And Jesus answered Martha you are worried and troubled about many things but one thing is needed and Mary has chosen that good part which will not be taken away from her amen and so there are good examples here of Mary and Martha you can’t always do the ministry uh do the work of the Lord like Martha she was serving and that’s not a bad thing it’s that’s not wrong we need people to serve amen we’re going to eating what people serve and a few you know later on because people are ministering and doing the work of the Lord but we also have to have a time where we minister to God ourselves like Mary here she sat at the feet of Jesus she heard his word.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 10:38-42 (NKJV)

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Can we live on one meal a week?

▶ Watch this part (42:49)

Short answer: No; don’t wait for Sunday. We need daily bread from God, a balance of ministering for the Lord and to the Lord.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 42:49 Amen and so you can do that by spending time with God yourself during the week you don’t have have to wait for Sunday I encourage you grow in your own relationship with God don’t wait for Sunday to have a relationship with God you can’t live off of one meal a week you can’t live off of one drink a week you need every day a some something from God and that’s what the lord’s prayer goes back to the lord’s prayer give us this day what our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive those was indebted to us we need to get that daily bread from God and that is his word that is his presence from him Jesus said I am the bread of life right we want to touch him we want to partake of him even if it’s just a little bit get it.

▶ 43:42 Amen when I get on my morning meeting at work you know I say good morning my boss says why are you so. Cheery because I had some of my daily bread. Amen we need both you can’t just be a minister for the Lord you can’t just only minister to the Lord and just you know take that you got to we want to do both and you want to have a balance that’s what God is getting at here and God uh you know can you worship when you’re not playing an instrument you know if you’re not if you’re let’s say you’re um you know we ask you to play an instrument you come up you play an instrument but you know maybe you’re not playing an instrument that day are you able to worship God if you’re out in the congregation or are you going to stay home and not assemble I mean that that tells you right there you know you’re somebody who can do the work of the Lord but you can’t minister to God yourself you’re not a worshipper that’s a problem you understand what I’m saying uh.

What did Peter’s mother-in-law do after her healing?

▶ Watch this part (44:59)

Short answer: She arose and served them; after the miracle she didn’t look for another miracle, she served.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 44:59 Um. Amen Matthew 8:14 when Jesus had come into Peter’s house he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever and he touched her hand and the fever left her and she arose and served them my little joke here is that you know Peter this is his mother-in-law he’s like why are you helping her I we don’t get along no I’m joking. Now she had a fever and Christ comes in and touches her and the fever left her and she arose and serve them so you see her response here we have a miracle we have something great happening you know back then something like a fever that’s an infection that’s a big deal back then right uh today that’s no big deal we know what to do we’ll go to the doctor we’ll go to the hospital get medicine they didn’t have all that so.

▶ 45:57 Her response here is to serve amen just like what Joshua is saying we’re going to serve the Lord that’s a powerful little illustration here what happens after the miracle are she looking for another miracle oh God give me another miracle no she got up and she what served God she served the people and she served Jesus Christ how do we respond when God comes to us he brings healing in our heart he brings some his presence his power his touch what is our response do we go home and do we serve. God the demon possessed man named legion in Mark 5:12 he who had been demon possessed begged him that he might be with him however Jesus said go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and so the demon-possessed man God Jesus says to him what go where.

What did Jesus tell the delivered man?

▶ Watch this part (47:09)

Short answer: Go home and tell your friends what God has done for you; God wants to impact your daily life and family, not give you a Sunday high.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 47:09 Home go home see after all the miracles are happened and all the presence of God you feel what do we have to do go where. Home our individual lives our families our spouse go. Home change the way change what’s coming out of your mouth before he had demons inside of him and he was speaking all kinds of stupid things go home and tell your friends what God has done for. You change what is coming out of your mouth normally you go home and you curse somebody you curse this person curse that person God is telling you go home and change what’s coming out of your mouth see this is what God wants to impact he wants to impact your home your life not just give you some uh you know.

▶ 48:13 Some thing to get high on on Sunday no he wants to impact your daily life and your home your family Mark 5:31 the woman with the issue of blood Jesus said who touched me after she touched the hem of his garment but the woman fearing and trembling knowing what had happened to her came fell down and told him the whole truth I’m so sorry I touched your garment and got healed and he said to her daughter your faith has made you well go in peace be healed of your affliction go home what is she going to do now after she got her miracle what is the next thing to do go home. And in Joshua’s words we’re going to what serve the Lord what are you going to do. Now go home and work on your house Proverbs 243 through wisdom a house is built by understanding it is established by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches so important here you recognize in this scripture it’s talking about three things.

But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
