From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 35:27 Lord Jesus we want to be those people God that surrender. God that surrender to your work in our lives and God not only us but God we want others to hear that powerful word that message that demonstration of power to change to surrender to the fashioning of you and of your spirit Lord Jesus we pray for a desire that people would throw want to leave what they are today. What is the day that is coming?

▶ Watch this part (38:51)

Short answer: A day burning like an oven—the proud and wicked will be stubble; build on the rock that endures the fire.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 38:51 You may find your seats. It says behold the day is coming burning like another all of proud yes all who you wickedly will be stumbled and the day which is coming shall burn them up says the Lord opposed that we’ll leave them neither root nor branch in Psalms 50 verse 1 it says that our God shall come and shall not keep silent a fire shall devour before him and it shall be very tempestuous all around him. So first off in these scriptures that coincide with each other Malachi chapter 4 and Psalms 50.

▶ 39:45 We understand that God and the son of God will not put up with wickedness we all know that the proud and wicked will be stubble it’s interesting that he uses the word proud there because we today in our country have pride specifically in America we have pride in our sin we’re proud of breaking the ten commandments we’re proud of our sexual immorality our thefts our intoxications our laziness our dishonoring of our parents our lives and our covetousness we’re proud. But we have to understand that God’s not going to put up with it and also we have to understand that the people. Need to be reached with the power and the message and gospel of Christ who came.

▶ 40:41 We have to understand that Jesus is. Coming with a fire he’s coming with judgment in 1 Corinthians 3:12 anyone who builds on his foundation with silver gold precious stones wood hay straw each one’s work will become clear for the day will declare it it will be revealed by fire. And anyone who’s worked endures he will receive a reward in first Peter chapter 2 verse 4 it says come to him as to a livingstone coming to him as to a living stone rejected by men but chosen by God and precious that you also as living stones are built up a spiritual house. And so you see here the fire is coming if you make your life out of things that are combustible.

▶ 41:40 They’re going to be consumed but you see this brick wall here has a higher melting point if you make like a the scriptures say build your house on the rock if you make it out of rock it’s going to be strong uh when the fire comes so we have to recognize. Did what did we build on Christ foundation the wicked they won’t they don’t they’re not on Christ foundation so when the fire comes they have nothing. The fire comes and they become what they become ashes. And the Bible says what about nationals and he’ll give us beauty for ashes so God can restore people that are willing to change and repent and turn. But today.

▶ 42:32 We have to build on the foundation the solid rock Jesus Christ when the fire comes that foundation is not going to burn it’s going to endure. Jeremiah 50:27 woe to them for their day has come the time of their punishment and this is the message in Jeremiah to Babylon. And as we know the Babylonian empire had their day of punishment we remember that it’s in history so it’s not necessarily that it has to be the second coming your day the day right it’s the day of judgment where God decides to bring some judgment on a people. Or it could be when you die you’re going to be judged right or it could be the second coming you know God has times of judgment that fire that he’s talking about coming every nation people tribe tongue will have their day of judgment punishment.

What rises with healing in His wings?

▶ Watch this part (43:44)

Short answer: The Sun of Righteousness, Jesus, for those who fear His name; those who wait on the Lord renew their strength.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 43:44 But if we look at Psalm 50:2 God says some very powerful things. He says out of Zion the perfection of beauty God will shine forth for our God shall come and shall not keep silent how many you want God to keep silent no we want God to speak up we want his mess we want his word to come out amen we need Jesus his powerful word and I’ll give you examples that later. Our God shall come who wants God to come we want him to come not necessarily the second coming but God whether it’s the second coming or or now we want him to step down how do we want to wait till the second time I want to wait till the second time.

▶ 44:37 God come now come God shall come and he’s going to shine forth. Malachi 4:2 but to you who fear my name so we we read here out of Zion that’s. That’s the perfection of beauty okay what’s the perfection about I don’t know well Malachi 4 2 gives us a little understanding here to you who what fear. My name what is the fear of the Lord the fear of the Lord is to depart from evil it is a spirit of God do we have that characteristic as Christians do we fear his name do we respect do we honor do we bring glory to his name. To you who fear my name the son of righteousness so son is a the word there is the sun in the sky.

▶ 45:37 Talking about Jesus as he’s the light of the world and he it also says son of righteousness. The king of kings Jesus Christ he is righteous and says he’s going to arise how do you know we need a revival of righteousness in our day in our country and Christ Jesus is that son of righteousness and he’s saying he’s going to arise. And it says with healing in his wings. How many agree we need healing in our land. Second Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14 I will forgive their sin and will hear their land there’s a there is a promise God is promising and saying that he will heal their land and also here in Malachi 4:2 he’s has healing in his wings we need healing for our individual lives we need healing for our families our communities our country and our world amen.

▶ 46:51 And we want this healing that he has in his weakness. Isaiah 40:31. Those who what those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up the wings like eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint. So here we are reminded that waiting on the Lord is a key to what mounting up with wings.

How did Cornelius wait on God?

▶ Watch this part (47:44)

Short answer: He prayed and feared God; Peter got over “unlawful,” came, and the Spirit fell on the Gentiles.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 47:44 And whose wings are they they are Christ who has given them to who to us like we learn in Revelation God anything that he gets what we get and the wings are part of that so when we wait on God we can have mount up with wings like eagles and that what healing. Can come with. His wings. Cornelius. In chapter in acts as we’re going to go to some examples that God did in the Bible in acts chapter 10 verse 30. Cornelius said four days ago I was fasting until this hour and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house and behold a man stood with bright clothing an angel and said Cornelius your prayer has been heard your alms are remembered in the sight of God call for Peter so here Cornelius is just living his life he’s got fear of God he’s praying here he’s fasting.

▶ 48:56 You know where do you learn that concept maybe I don’t know but here he is he’s praying unto God he fears God but he’s a Gentile. And. What happened God visited Cornelius and gave him a word and what happens after this it changes the whole game thank you. Him and his group the people in his house they all received the spirit of God. They all were what baptized not just baptized in the spirit but also baptized. So we have a great thing happening here why because someone.

▶ 49:47 Is waiting. On God. We are all present he says to Peter before God to hear all the things commanded you by God you hear his humble responsive heart he’s not he’s he he brought Peter in he’s listened to God’s command Peter came he’s being very respectful and he says we’re here to hear we want to hear what God has commanded you to tell us how many of us have a heart and a response like that. Amen. Acts 11:4 Peter on the other is in another city in joppa. And he is praying.

▶ 50:41 And in a trance he saw a vision of the animals if you remember that vision and on the sheet that came down and God said to him Peter take and eat because he was hungry and God and he replies and said Lord I can’t eat that that’s unclean why would I do that. And God. Said what God has cleansed you must not call comma. Now Peter. When the men came to him he could have just said what who are those guys I don’t know those guys get them out of here or I’m sorry I don’t know them uh please tell them you’re they had the wrong house I am Peter but I don’t know them and I can’t oh they’re they’re Gentiles I really can’t go why because there’s a what a law.

▶ 51:33 It is unlawful remember Peter said this he said it’s unlawful for me to be in your house talking to Cornelius. So those people came to the door he could have said oh it’s another sales call uh sorry no thank you I’m not interested goodbye. But what happened because he is what waiting. On God praying. He received. The message. For these people and the spirit told him go with those men. And so in this example we’re seeing how important it is to wait on God that God also brings deliverance he’s bringing healing he brings a lot of things when we wait on him and we hear what he has to say.

▶ 52:38 So Peter had a specific message. Amen Cornelius had a specific message and now they had to bring Peter in Peter had to get over the uh you know this isn’t normal this is not this is abnormal this is not lawful I can’t be here I gotta break a little rule here you know that might be what has to happen today. You know God you want me to do what. I can’t do that. You don’t know but the important thing is to what wait on God to hear what he has to say and to follow what he is saying. Acts 10 verse 28 you know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean therefore it came without objection as soon as I was sent for her I ask then for what reason have you sent me also to something I understand here Cornelius.

▶ 53:47 Was told that Peter had a message Peter is over here he’s like I don’t know what God wants to say. Why did you send for me. And that’s the other thing God comes and he may not give you the whole thing but he’s giving direction. Right and that’s all you know he’s given you the next step and that’s what we want to know what is the next step what is the next thing that God is wanting us to do amen. Acts chapter 11 15. So Peter gets there and he starts to. Speak on and share what God has put on his heart and while he’s speaking the Holy Spirit comes and fills them.

▶ 54:49 And it says as upon us at the beginning and talking about on Pentecost. And he remembered the word of the Lord saying that John baptized with water and you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit and so he said that he’s like well if they’re baptized with the Holy Spirit why can’t they be baptized. And so immediately Peter. Says you guys need you need to get baptized amen. And I don’t know if you know but um. Our founding pastor is always asked in this question he’s saying how many baptisms have you had from outside. How many baptisms how many people have gotten saved how many you know what what is God doing and this is why because you see in in Peter’s day and these people they’re waiting on God they’re hearing from God and God is is making things happen amen.

▶ 55:51 He’s bringing these things to pass and this is what we. Need to focus on. And of course the people he was explaining it to because they were all saying oh my gosh this is against the rules what are you doing Peter. They glorified God and said God has also granted the Gentiles repentance to life it’s no longer they’re no longer excluded anymore they’re no longer any different we are the same I should not call any man what common or unclean. The Jews can’t be over there oh we’re the chosen people wait a second hey we’re right there with you. Revelation says that I’m a king I’m a priest you know you’re not any more special than me a Gentile amen.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Acts 10:30-33 (NKJV)

So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God. Send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’ So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”

What happened at Pentecost?

▶ Watch this part (56:53)

Short answer: Tongues, interpretation and Peter’s Spirit-filled message—they were cut to the heart, repented, and 3,000 were added.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 56:53 Another example we have in Acts 2:1 Pentecost had fully come and they were all with one accord in one place so as you know Jesus Christ had risen on day 40 after uh he was there 40 days he had risen up into the heaven for 40 days and he told them to go and wait in Jerusalem so. They’re waiting there for 10 days because Pentecost is the 50th day okay. And they’re all in one accord in one place and suddenly came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them un utterance. We also want to be reminded here. A few things. God brought tongues.

▶ 57:45 Right. Different languages and there were people there that could what interpret those tongues okay so you have the tongue you have the interpretation of the tongues and also Peter. Stands up and he does what he preaches a message from where from the spirit of God it was not a review you know let’s sit down and review uh you know Genesis chapter one let’s go through the you know it’s not you can have Bible studies I’m just saying here Peter had a message from the spirit of God and he spoke it and that is also a gift of the spirit amen.

▶ 58:43 So when we say oh Holy Spirit only has to do with tongues Peter preached a message from the spirit. And people will ask oh do you speak in tongues and you say oh no I don’t have that uh you’re not a Christian. You don’t have the spirit well what about Peter. Peter got a message is that not from the spirit and is that not what happened on the day of Pentecost. So these prophecies that come out exhortation edification comfort is that not from the spirit. I’m just saying sometimes we pass this by that Peter spoke a message from the spirit it it was not exclusively tongues that’s what I’m trying to say you understand.

▶ 59:39 When they heard this they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles men and brethren what shall we do and here we go this is the key. And what we also want to understand when they were speaking in tongues they were speaking the mighty works of God but what was the thing that convicted them what was the thing that made them say what shall we do it was the message the word of God from the spirit. Amen. And that is the important part. We can have the tongues we can have the interpretations but if it doesn’t take us to where we are cut to the heart convicted in our heart.

▶ 1:00:37 And asking what do we need to change. Then we only have part of it. And God wants to bring us to that part that changes us in our minds in our hearts amen. Because that’s what’s going to bless families that’s what’s going to bless homes. And his response to them was repent be baptized guys how many of you have heard that message before. Interesting. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit repent it’s that’s it’s it’s simple. Repent if you’re living in sin turn from your sin. Be baptized.

▶ 1:01:31 Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and that day three thousand souls were added to. Them and their group so they went from 120 to. 3120. They continue steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and the breaking of bread and in prayers they didn’t just come one day and hear God’s message and never come back again no no no they continued. Steadfastly so it wasn’t oh there’s three thousand the first day and next Sunday or uh you know the next meeting there was a hundred again. No they came they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and what fellowship.

▶ 1:02:23 Breaking a bread and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul many signs and wonders were done through the apostles. We need to aim for this goal. We need to set our sights on this and take whatever God brings us. But if we don’t have this goal if we don’t set our sights on this what God has done God is the same yesterday today and forever amen his spirit is still powerful today like it was back then amen. And there is still healing in the wings of Jesus. There’s still healing in.

▶ 1:03:15 His wings. And it says the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved how many now we need. To set our sights on this goal. One of the other things that I noticed here is Peter Peter is the one there’s 12 disciples. That became apostles or I don’t know if they’re apostles now or what I’m not going to get into that but at this point there’s 12 disciples there’s 120 people now there’s 3 000 and why is Peter speaking up twice now so the first time it was him uh God had revealed Psalms 109 verse 8 to him and he speaks that from the spirit and then he speaks from Joel chapter 2 verse 28 and he speaks from Psalms 16 and he is these words are getting revealed to him what they mean by what by the spirit of God.

Scripture (NKJV)

Acts 2:1-4 (NKJV)

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Scripture (NKJV)

Acts 2:37-47 (NKJV)

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Is Jesus praying for us?

▶ Watch this part (1:04:22)

Short answer: Yes—as for Peter, that our faith would not fail.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:04:22 If we look back in Luke 22:31. Says Satan has asked for you and this is Jesus and Peter having a conversation. Satan has asked for you that he may sift you. As wheat. But I have what prayed for you. That your faith should not fail when you have returned to me strengthen your brother. The point is right now whatever state you are in whatever has happened in the past yesterday. God is praying for you right now. That your faith would not fail he is interceding for you it says in Romans chapter 8 verse 34 as we have already learned in weeks past he is at the right hand of God and he what makes intercession.

▶ 1:05:18 For us he is praying for us he is praying for the Thompsons he is praying for Junior. That his faith that our faith would not fail. How many want Jesus praying for you. How many want to be returning like it says here. Peter when you return to me strengthen your brethren so that’s what he was doing God had prayed for him and he had returned and strengthened his brethren he he had wept already after he denied Christ he went and he wept bitterly and and Jesus was crucified I mean can you imagine that the last thing you say about God is that you denied him you didn’t get to talk to him after you didn’t get to see him he just is dead and and you’re he’s gone and you can’t make it right.

▶ 1:06:29 And Jesus when he arose Peter’s running to the tomb Peter was glad when he saw him in the room with the other disciples his heart is just breaking because of what he had done. And then he’s on the boat and somebody said that’s Jesus. And he gets out of the boat and he jumps he’s like what. Jesus oh. I gotta make that right. And so he gets back on the shore with Jesus and Jesus is asking him do you love me do you love me do you love me and Peter is saying yes Lord I love you. And when he’s saying that he’s also saying God forgive me for denying you. Forgive me for.

▶ 1:07:21 Cursing your name. I love you. Amen. In Psalms in 30 chapter 37 we’re confirming there’s confirmation that waiting on God is powerful wait on the Lord and keep his way. God doesn’t always come right away but we gotta what keep what waiting. Keep his way that means we stay faithful and true to. What he wants for us is we’re going to find out later we’re going to abstain we abstain from every form of evil keep his way and he shall exalt you to inherit the land how many want to inherit the land I’ll tell you right now the message in America oh is separation of church and state we don’t want you religious people in charge we don’t want your religious people your your rules we want all we want our freedoms and libertarians we want to be who and do what we want and nobody tell us anything what to do but baloney.

▶ 1:08:44 The libertarians are baloney. Okay. And those that are promoting sin are definitely wrong. When the wicked are cut off you shall see it so there’s this promise here along with waiting on the Lord. Psalm 37:9 evil doers shall be cut off at those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth how many want this promise. Amen. And and I’ll take it in whatever measure it comes. You know if it’s not God on God’s calendar to do some great turning around America sure but we still want some measure of that in where we are here amen and we want measure a measure of that wherever people are in other states and the church going on there we want this measure of of of of inheriting and overcoming.

How do we quench the Spirit?

▶ Watch this part (1:09:54)

Short answer: By stopping when the Spirit starts to move—and by neglect.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:09:54 Amen. Psalm 1 Thessalonians 5:19 do not quench the spirit as we were praying this morning do not quench the spirit do not despise prophecies do not forbid the speaking of tongues do not despise prophecies the exhortation edification comfort test all things hold fast to what is good abstain from every form of evil. When I would read this I would always think quench like water but then I was thinking oh maybe it’s different. You can smother a flame a fire a fire needs fuel it needs oxygen. And something else but you can quench a flame by smothering it so in a church if you go and you you try to exercise these things uh prophesy or or or speak in tongues they can smother you right and say hey no no no no no you can’t do that.

▶ 1:11:04 And so we’re doing and we don’t invite it in the church I you know I know when I go to these uh conventions for the school and there be worship going on it was great and it was like oh God is wonderful and then they just go. Did you feel the spirit well we’re going to stop that right now. God you’re wonderful oh it’s a great song and beautiful music beautiful voice. Did you feel something did you feel the spirit stop it right there I saw that flame starting to build up on it. Give me the hose somebody give me the hose fires. We quenched that’s what we do.

▶ 1:11:59 And I’m not you know trying to be mean or anything it’s just the experience. We have such resources in the churches to let the spirit of God flow I mean these big churches they have such resources. I mean you watch the brooklyn tabernacle choir and it’s powerful. And they allow that spirit to to flow it’s good. Or. We quench the fire. Because we don’t fuel the fire. You know a fire needs oxygen which you can smother or it needs fuel. And this match here will only last a few moments you start that flame there it is but unless you put it in to wood that is ready to go that is ready to accept.

▶ 1:13:00 It’s just going to die. And so we can also the quench the spirit by neglect. Are we exercising the principles to experience the spirit of God. Are we waiting on God are we praying are we taking time like Cornelius did to fast to pray. Do we fuel the spirit of God. And so this morning we want to be reminded. That there. Is healing. There’s deliverance. There’s a powerful thing that can come in the wings of Christ.

▶ 1:13:52 When we wait on the Lord we can rise up on eagle’s wings. We can have this healing. How many want this healing. Amen. And we don’t want to quench or put out the spirit of God amen. So we have a responsibility first of all not to smother it you know on Sunday mornings we can get so organized that we just. Don’t make don’t make room for God and and in other days we also have a responsibility to fuel to prepare. This uh to do those things those principles of fueling the spirit. So first of all I’d like to invite you on Tuesday nights.

How can we practice waiting on God?

▶ Watch this part (1:14:48)

Short answer: Fasting on Tuesdays into the 7:45 prayer time, and learning together to wait on God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:14:48 As as Miss Woods comes like to invite you Tuesday nights. To fast on Tuesday. And fast into our prayer time. Our prayer time starts at 7 45 if you’re fasting during that day uh. It’s good to come fasting I I you know I could be wrong I guess it doesn’t matter but let’s do that all right come fasting on Tuesday nights come ready to pray ready to wait on God to hear what he has to say and fasting is that principle of of putting fuel on the fire amen and we’re going to have a time on Tuesday nights to to allow for the spirit of God to speak to hear what he has to say to get direction and let his power come on those nights and we have it on zoom you can come in at 7 45 personally or you can come in on zoom I send out the meeting if you don’t get it let me know if you don’t have it but that’s the first call to action.

▶ 1:16:00 And the second is. To we need to learn together. And exercise and be skilled in waiting on God what does that mean we need to find out. We need to exercise it amen first Corinthians chapter 2 verse 4 my speech and preaching were not with persuasive words but in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your face should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God we need the power of God. The power of God is in his wings the power of God is in his spirit the power of God we need that power and Paul also received it by what waiting. On God if you remember he was he was shipwrecked he had answers for those people on the boat he had he had people all around him remember he was in prison but he had gotten a word from God why because he waited on God.

▶ 1:17:08 And he brought all those people through he brought all of them to that island and even on that island there was a sick leader there that received healing from Christ. Because he waited on God. There’s healing for the nations there’s healing for our community for our families and our lives in his wings. Are we willing to wait on God to rise on his wings. Let’s sing this song will you join with me. And let’s lift up his name. Shall renew.

How does the service close?
