Continuing God’s rest: Israel rested from war under Joshua and the elders, but another generation arose that did not know the Lord. God wants to plant His people in Zion, His resting place, which is the church. He gives rest from enemies such as depression and drugs through praise and the word, and there remains a rest of ceasing from our own works, which we enter diligently.

What did last week cover?

▶ Watch this part (0:09)

Short answer: God called Israel to His land; follow His commands, enter His presence, and receive rest from enemies.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 0:09 All right well welcome one and all it’s good to be in God’s house uh it’s good to have our folks here with us this morning we’re going to get back into what we were talking about last week God’s rest last week we’re reminded that uh God had called the children of Israel out of Egypt and he and he called them out the mountain of si where they had first met and said okay it’s time to go to the promised land and God is calling us from where we are to go to the promised land to go and have eternal life we learn that Jesus is the door and the way to eternal life we were reminded that he is the word in John 1 verse 1 he was the word he is the word.

▶ 0:58 Today we learned to follow his commands and we were reviewing the ten commandments we learned about his presence in the church how we can have it in the church and at home and then what happens if we turn from God we learn that he can give us rest from all our enemies and we have enemies uh whether it’s wicked people sometimes it can be your family members people in your own household that are causing hurt and harm it can be uh Satan himself uh coming into your mind and and trying to tear you down discourage you it can be some form of darkness right there’s a lot of enemies you can have in your life. Uh and that’s and God is promising that he can give you rest from those enemies we learn that he he God has given us victory over Satan we know that the wicked will not have a good ending.

Why does who rules matter?

▶ Watch this part (2:00)

Short answer: When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, people mourn, including babies killed after birth. We also need rest from our own pride.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 2:00 And I say that because you you wicked people keep uh uh keep up the wickedness and uh let’s see it says in Proverbs 29:2 when the righteous are in authority the people rejoice you know it’s nice when good people are in charge because uh you’re blessed by it but when the wicked are in charge the people mourn especially today we have babies that are mourning they get out of the womb and they’re killed and they’re crying and they’re not happy and then their lives are ended it’s it hurts it’s. Harmful you can have rest in your house but uh by and also by uniting with the family of God remember Jesus said that those who do the will of the father are my brother and my sister and also getting rest from our enemies we must humble ourselves before God so that we can have rest uh from our own foolishness one of the enemies that we have in our life is ourselves we get in the way we get in the way of God God wants to help us and and we we get in God’s way we were very prideful we have a lot of pride we don’t want to give God what he deserves it’s very important that we also so.

Did Israel ever rest from war?

▶ Watch this part (3:31)

Short answer: Yes; after dividing the land they had rest, and served the Lord all the days of Joshua and the elders, who were examples.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 3:31 uh not be an enemy in Joshua chapter 14:5 the Lord had commanded Moses and they divided the land and in verse 15 they had rest from war so for a time they had rest from war. In Judges chapter 2:7 after they had gotten all this land and they had divided it up in Israel today there were 12 there were 12 uh different lands or they they divided it up maybe 11 I can’t remember in Judges 2 chapter 7 the the people serve the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who had seen all the great works of the Lord and I want to point out here that there was a group of people that served God all.

▶ 4:29 Their days they followed Joshua and the elders example and many of these people served God all of their lives it’s very important and it’s powerful for us to be examples Joshua and the elders were examples to the people that followed them and they were affected by it but the next generation had to make a choice just like the next generation today the teenagers and the 20-year-olds and the 20 to 30 year olds and the 30 to 40 year olds we have to make a choice are we going to find out if God is real are we going to know God for ourself or are we going to give God the hand and go do what we. Want but there was a generation in Joshua’s time that followed Joshua to the promised land overcame the enemies and served God all their lives and that is powerful and as individual.

Can we be that generation?

▶ Watch this part (5:35)

Short answer: Yes, in any era of the church, with a different spirit.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 5:35 Christians we can pr we can possess the promised land we can overcome our enemies and serve God all of our lives we can choose to be part of that generation it doesn’t matter what time of the church you’re living in it doesn’t matter if you’re living in the falling away church it doesn’t matter if you’re living in the frozen chosen church doesn’t matter what time you’re in you can decide to be part of the generation that goes to gain their inheritance and commit to God to serving him all of their lives just like Joshua and Caleb if you remember few messages ago we talked about how Joshua and cb were different they had a different spirit and no matter all what the whole uh land of Israel was doing they all were negative about the promised land they got upset about going there but Joshua and Caleb said you guys are crazy God has set has created this promised land for us he has created this thing for us and we can go and inherit it.

What went wrong?

▶ Watch this part (6:49)

Short answer: Another generation arose who did not know the Lord and served other gods; in America the love of money can be our god.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 6:49 If if God was with us how can we fail they had a different spirit and we can have that in us today and we see that here and Joshua and then the elders another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which he had done for Israel and again this just begs the question the next generation or even if the older generation maybe maybe you never kn knew God maybe you never came to know God it’s important that you come to God yourself that you come to know God. Yourself it’s important that you experience the work that he has done for. You and then it says the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served the bales the bail is is another God you know you can say the bail the hail the jail you know whatever it is it’s not our God it’s not the God of Abraham Isaac and if it’s not that God if it’s not Jesus Christ if it’s not the Holy Spirit you’re missing the mark because God says the first commandment you shall have no other what.

▶ 8:08 Gods and in America today the love of money can be our God we a lot of things can replace God we can replace. God people ask you what do you think about this well I think who cares what you. Think are we asking what God thinks are we asking what God says. Judges chapter 2:14 the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel so he delivered them into the h hands of plunderers who despoiled them and they could no longer stand before their enemies whenever they went out the hand of the Lord was against them for calamity as the Lord had said and the Lord had sworn to them and they were greatly distressed you want stress do you want to be. Distressed do you want to lose joy do you want to lose peace do you want to lose all of these things that God has has given you when you accepted him the way you can lose all that is.

▶ 9:06 Rejecting God rejecting his word like Israel did they they rejected the first commandment of the ten commandments it’s important for us you know you you can’t say oh well I’m not I don’t lie but I do uh steal you know God’s not happy with. That we’ve got to serve. Him and so if you have lost something if you’ve been spoiled you’ve got we have to wake up you know in my life if if I’ve been spoiled of my joy if I’ve been spoiled of of my peace I’ve got to wake up if I don’t have peace if I don’t have joy Jesus said whoever drinks of this water shall never thirst Christ has a living water that we can partake of that will give us life.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Judges 2:10-12 (NKJV)

When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the LORD nor the work which He had done for Israel. Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals; and they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the LORD to anger.

— Judges 2:10-12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:49

Do we give up when we fall?

▶ Watch this part (10:04)

Short answer: No, we shape up: Israel cried out and God raised deliverers; repent, as David did after Bathsheba.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 10:04 Continually we don’t have to be dry we don’t have to be thirsty we don’t have to lose our joy we don’t have to lose our hope you don’t have to lose it don’t let the enemy spoil. You so what do we do do we give up no we shape up amen. Judges 3:9 the childrenn of Israel cried out to the Lord and the Lord raised up to deliver for the children of Israel who delivered them so they served the bales they rejected God right then they cried out they admitted they were wrong they asked for forgiveness they turned from it they repented and they served God again it’s very important in your life that’s number one you have to first admit your wrong you know if you’re breaking his commandments very clear you need to admit your wrong.

▶ 10:59 And you also need to repent repent simply just means okay I committed that I was committing that on a daily basis I was committing that on a weekly basis I’m going to stop now and I’m going to turn from that now you may stop and say I’m going to turn from it and I was wrong and then you may do it again but you got to repent again you got to keep repenting till that thing’s behind you amen you know you got and some of these big things you can’t go around stealing somewhere you got to say okay I’m not going to do that anymore you can’t go around killing I got not going to do that anymore you can’t do. That. Uh just because states are allowing you to abort kids doesn’t mean you keep doing it and maybe you’ve aborted kids and Christ can forgive you and he can heal you but you don’t keep doing it that’s.

▶ 11:57 Repentance you know David he uh committed sexual immorality with Bathsheba right and God restored him but he had to pay a price and he never did it again there’s a repentance that’s what I’m talking that’s what repentance is in Judges chapter 3:12 the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord and the lord’s strengthen he brought in an enemy and so we have this cycle where the people uh cry out to God and they repent and then they go back into uh rejecting God again and we have this cycle it just keeps happening and happening and God keeps bringing uh you know trouble because he’s got to wake them up and so you got to recognize you got to look at your life and say is this trouble in my life because I have rejected God’s word rejected his truth it’s very important for us to make that.

Where does God want to dwell?

▶ Watch this part (12:56)

Short answer: In the mountain of His inheritance; the God who wrote DNA’s code wants to dwell with us, and we are bought at a price.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 12:56 Distinction Exodus 15:17 God will bring his people in and plant them in the mountain of his inheritance in the place which he has made for his own dwelling the sanctuary which his hands have. Established. Uh so this scripture is saying that God has a dwelling place the God who created all things that’s what we believe okay you come to this church and right here I believe in the Bible when I open up Genesis it said let there be light I believe God made that light when God says he formed the world when he formed the sea I believe he did all that I believe that he breathed life into us I believe that he coded my dna from the beginning I believe he set it all up from the beginning and uh you need to know that there’s more information coming out.

▶ 13:51 That it’s not just the dna uh that’s complex it’s everything around there’s more complexity even past dna and the dna is six billion lines of code and I just bring that up because I work for an insurance company I work for an it department and there is no project that long that we have coded without human intelligence and this dna code can’t have come by accident folks God had to write the code it’s important for you to understand that I believe that he created everything when you come to this church we believe that God breathed life into you we we believe that he put a spirit in you when you were conceived in the womb like the scriptures. Say and I don’t remember where I was going with that.

▶ 14:48 But God is bringing his people planting him in the mountain lord’s house uh we need to know that he has he he has a dwelling place and what I’m trying to to say is the God who made the universe this big God who excellent he powerful unlimited power he want he has a dwelling place and this dwelling place. Is his house which his hands have established in 1 Corinthians 6:19 it tells us what this house is do you not know that your bodies are the sanctuary the dwelling the temple of theol Holy Spirit so God created this whole world that you see that’s going to take you a long time to travel from this end and back it’s a huge world there’s a big universe you look at the skies at the sky at night the stars you can see stars you can see planets it’s amazing what God has created and he set it all up so that he could dwell in us.

▶ 15:59 That’s very important to understand you are not your own you were bought at a price therefore honor God with your bodies and I have this uh pointing here his hands have made it established it okay Jesus Christ is the only one who could have died on the cross for our sin who bought us for a price by his blood and he is the one who has made us a dwelling place place so when you accept Christ when you say Lord Jesus forgive me of my sin I admit I’m a sinner he comes with his blood he covers you he covers your sin and he also now has enabled you to be a dwelling place for God and God is asking us today are we willing to let God dwell in us.

▶ 17:00 It says it’s a mountain right the mountain of his inheritance a mountain is normally a peak of altitude it’s a there’s a a mountaintop and God is saying it it’s that this this dwelling place is a high it’s the most important thing to him and that’s how much value that we have to him we are the highest of importance to him we are that dwelling place and not not only just us but also the assembly when we come.

You will bring them in and plant them In the mountain of Your inheritance, In the place, O LORD, which You have made For Your own dwelling, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.

What is Zion?

▶ Watch this part (17:36)

Short answer: The Lord has chosen Zion as His resting place forever; Mount Zion is the church, the assembly.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 17:36 Together Psalms 132:13 the Lord has chosen Zion he’s desired it for his dwelling place this is my resting place forever here I will dwell and for I have desired it. Zion Hebrews chapter 12:22 I had Miss Stephanie read that during worship uh during one of the the songs it says you have come to what Mount Zion you’ve come to the peak you’ve come to the top Mount Zion you come to the highest of the highest importance of God Mount Zion the city of the living God the heavenly Jerusalem and inumerable comp inumerable company of angels to the general assembly here it go the general assembly say that the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven to God the judge of all the spirit of judment to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant so back there.

▶ 18:38 In what what book was that Exodus Exodus chapter 15 years ago before Jesus even. Came God set up a promise that we would be his dwelling place the church church the gathering together of his people Mount Zion we are his resting place forever so it’s very important when you walk through that door when you assemble with God’s people you’re assembling with Mount Zion the most important thing to him this is the reason why he died on the cross this is the reason why he created all things this is the reason why he created the universe it’s the most important thing to him Zion the church it’s not a tourist site that you can go fly to it’s not a place.

▶ 19:37 That you have to go visit oh I’ve got to if I want to be in God’s resting place I got to go and live on the mountain and take my tent and put up my campsite there. No Mount Zion is the church the assembly you know why doesn’t work because you could take all your sin you could take all of your uh trouble and you could live on that mountain over in Israel and that’s not going to change you but when you come to the church you hear his word his living word and his powerful word and you let it transform you that is the powerful thing Psalms chapter 95 verse 10 for 40 years I was angry with that generation there are a people whose hearts go astray they have not known my ways you know I don’t like it I don’t like hearing God’s angry with me I don’t know about you guys but you know when I hear you know hey mike here’s a letter from God God’s Michael I’m angry with you are you’re angry with me oh man how can I fix.

Who doesn’t enter His rest?

▶ Watch this part (20:52)

Short answer: Those whose hearts go astray after every new belief and keep their distance from God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 20:52 That how many want God angry with you you want God I don’t want him angry with me. There are people whose hearts go astray their their hearts go with the wind oh a new new um a new belief came out a new religion came out a new thing came out okay we’re going green this year now we got we went from global warming now we’re to climate change and then we’re going to go to the next thing you know there’s stuff just coming here we go oh the science has come out a new study a news this a new that we’re just going to go with it what about Jesus what about his word what about his truth.

▶ 21:32 They have not known my ways you know God’s ways have not changed for a long time from the beginning we you know when we just go along with all these changes these new things all this new thing has come out you know and we don’t can’t stick with his truth his ways we got a problem Psalms 9511 I swore my wrath they shall not enter my rest and that’s what we’re talking about entering God’s rest letting uh we want to have rest as Christians you want to have rest that you know where you’re going to go when you die amen you want to have rest that you have eternal life amen but you also want to have rest in this life that you have power to live for him to follow him you want to have rest in God you want to experience where he is at he has a resting place his church he comes the scripture and that’s confirmed in through throughout the Bible where two or three are gathered in my name where is he he’s in our midst he’s there and he’s trying to explain and say how it’s so important his church is so important it’s a mountain.

▶ 22:46 And so we we have to ask. Ourselves are we happy keeping our distance from God like these people and Psalms 95:1 the Israelites they uh kept their distance from God their hearts went astray a new thing came out they would go along with it they. Uh and they did not know or take on the ways of God God’s character not doing any harm to your neighbor not doing any harm to God loving. God they had no interest in that and God is is asking if we are doing the same thing. Today I wanted to share real quick some statistics out there uh in 2023.

Scripture (NKJV)

Psalm 95:10-11 (NKJV)

For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

Is depression an enemy?

▶ Watch this part (23:41)

Short answer: He cites depression statistics and says in many cases it is a darkness and an enemy; bring God into the solution.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 23:41 29% of people have been have been diagnosed with depression uh 17.8% and this is in America 17.8% are current in current. Depression um there there are I think I was reading one two 3 four five there’s five different types of pills they can prescribe you and that’s not different brands in the types there’s like three brands they can give you so there’s like 15 pills they have for depression there’s. Psychotherapy. Uh man some of this stuff this is crazy.

What about drugs?

▶ Watch this part (24:29)

Short answer: He cites opioid deaths, misuse, meth and heroin; God wants to give rest and strength to get them out.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 24:29 There they say you can change your lifestyle changes you can go sit and talk with somebody about your depression but I want to say that you know in in many cases depression is a darkness it’s an enemy and I show this because it’s one thing that Americans are dealing with some people all their life and as a Christian you can have a a depression that follows you all of your life and when you want to keep your distance from God it’s very important God is promising that we can have rest from our enemies and one of them is something like this we got to come to God if you have it bring it to God you know get all of these solution and bring God in don’t don’t forget to leave God out of it you got to bring God into it the opioid epidemic by the Numbers 7 people 70,000 people are dying uh dying every year from opioid.

What weapon has God given?

▶ Watch this part (25:36)

Short answer: Out of the mouth of babes He ordained strength, which Jesus quoted as praise, to silence the enemy.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 25:36 Overdose 10 million people are misusing prescription opioids every year 2 million people used methamphetamine in the past year. And uh people are using heroin these are just numbers or st statistics that you guys need to know of what’s happening in America today today we’re talking millions we’re talking thousands we’re talking young people it’s affecting our nation it’s hurting uh this is uh narcotics these things are are are intoxication they’re they they hurt you and God says to get it out of your life it’s very important that we understand and see these things and keep ourselves from them don’t let them d destroy your life they can be things in your life that destroy you and God is asking us to get them out and he wants to give us the strength to do that he wants to give us rest from things like this okay because this has a consequence and it hurts families it hurts people and not just opioids but other drugs as well Psalms 8:2 out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants I’ve have ordained gain strength because of your enemies that you may silence the enemy and the avenger this is a very common scripture this scripture was referenced by Jesus Christ

▶ 27:07 and when he me said you have ordained strength he replaced the word with what. Praise when you came in this morning you had a decision are you going to praise God or not if you decided to praise God let me tell you what happened when you came through that door and you started lifting up Jesus Christ you put on your your your your fist together like this and Satan came up to you and you gave him a left hook boom that’s what happened now you can go and you can get a spear you can get a sword and right now I could swing it in the air that’s not going to do anything to Satan where I got to get something here here we go oh it’s hooked up okay where’s Satan I’m going to beat him doesn’t work doesn’t work if this is a sword doesn’t work if I had a gun in my pocket and I’m going to shoot the wall and say Satan where are you depression where no it doesn’t work like that but when you come in and you praise God and you lift up the name of God what happens in the the world that you cannot see the spirit world as you are hitting the kingdom of darkness you are silencing the enemy and the avenger other parts say you are freezing and stealing stopping destroying the enemy in your life and so God is not up in heaven saying oh I’m so I

▶ 28:37 need my praise. Today where are my people praising me you know that’s not God he’s saying look I got this tool for you guys h he’s excited he’s got joy he’s happy he’s looking down like who’s praising who’s using the tools I gave him. Amen you we have them they’re at our disposal Jesus said to Satan when he was being tempted in the desert after he was filled with the Holy Spirit and he was fasting in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights Satan came up to him in his weakest point and he says hey I have some bread here hey uh if you God says he’s going to protect you if you fall down why don’t you fall down from here hey if you worship me I’m going to give you all these people and Jesus would reply and he would say hey Satan get out of here away with you it is written and he would use what the scriptures.

How did Jesus resist?

▶ Watch this part (29:58)

Short answer: He fasted, prayed and used the Scriptures instead of giving in to feelings.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 29:58 And the scriptures are that powerful Jesus Christ used the scriptures Jesus is our example he fasted he prayed and he used what the scriptures it’s very important that we know what the scriptures say that we follow what it says you see Jesus had a choice was he going to follow uh his feelings you know 40 days of fasting how do you feel I don’t want to try it. But you know you fast one or two days or one day and I got I got a headache I got oh my gosh don’t talk to me please you know I don’t know if you have ever just not eaten for a day but you’ll find out some stuff about. You.

▶ 30:54 But Jesus had to make a choice am I going to give into my feelings am I going to just say yeah I just I would do whatever you know Satan cuz uh I I got to stop this feeling I don’t like this feeling no Jesus went to the truth the word and he said this is what I’m going to follow you shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve I’m not going to serve you Satan I’m going to serve my God and that’s what we got to do. We must stick with his word it is. Written and uh I also like this phrase right here it is written because people will say oh the Old Testament is so uh messed up and it’s been uh you know you don’t know if it’s true or not and Jesus here is quoting it in the desert amen it is written did you know it was written it was written really.

Is there another rest?

▶ Watch this part (31:58)

Short answer: There remains a rest for the people of God: ceasing from our works, as Jesus prayed not My will but Yours before His torturous beating.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 31:58 We have writing somewhere Hebrews chapter 4:8 verse 10 if Joshua had given them a rest he would not afterward have spoken of another day there remains therefore a rest for the people of God so it’s not just having rest from your enemies God wants to give you rest from your enemies yourself your uh wicked people in your life the the the people in your house that are hurting you um Satan he wants to give you rest from that but there’s also another rest he has entered his rest and he who has entered his rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from his oh my father if it is possible let this cup pass from me nevertheless not as I will but as you will g I’m bringing that scripture up because this is what he said in the garden before he was crucified and if you remember remember what he was doing when he was c before crucifying he was praying and he was really upset he was like he was like oh my gosh I know what’s coming see Jesus can you believe it he knew that he would be crucified he knew that they were going to k uh take that cat-o’-nine-tails and and whip him whip his his body all over they were going to turn him into hamburger meat the scriptures say that his visage was marred beyond recognition more than any man they beat him they took a stick they

▶ 33:29 beat him they punched him they they put the crown of thorns on him they whipped him with the cat-o’-nine-tails they ripped his flesh off of his body they nailed him to a cross Jesus endured a horrific. Torturous. Beating from the Praetorium and before that all happened. He says if it’s possible let this cut pass from me but not as I will but as you. Will and so we see a scripture here Jesus Christ as our example again he’s saying it’s not what I want in my life but what you want and see Jesus he’s ceasing from his own works it’s not about what I want it’s about what what God wants and that’s what this is talking about he who has entered his rest has himself ceased from his works.

▶ 34:35 Meaning we think that we have things figured. Out. Um if you talk to to to people today they may take part of the message of Christ they like his death on the cross they like the forgiveness they like the blood covering them and but they make up their own rules for the rest. Of the their morality and you can’t just do that and for example August 30th 2020 pew research has a uh article out there half of the united states Christians say that casual sex between consenting adults is sometimes or always. Acceptable you see we take we want God’s forgiveness we want him his blood to cleanse us but when we say oh but I want to still do my works I want to do what I want to.

How do we enter that rest?

▶ Watch this part (35:35)

Short answer: Be diligent to enter it; make room daily for God. Believe, grow and know God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 35:35 Do see that is a rejection of his will that is a rejection of his work in your life let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience and disbelief it’s important important again for us to be what diligent diligent means what hardworking when I went to school in my Christian school growing up you had a reward for what. Diligence for doing your work at the end of the year they’d say Michael got an award for. Diligence you know if you did your work you were diligent.

▶ 36:28 And it’s the same way in your life we have to decide are we going to be diligent are we going to work hard at making time in our lives daily for God for putting his word into us you know you’re not going to read the Bible in one day it’s just not going to happen you’re not going to be able to pray and and have every experience that the Bible talks about in one day tomorrow you know you’re not going to get every gift you’re not going to pray you’re not going to get the Holy Spirit coming down tomorrow and and know all the script happening what no it takes what. Diligence and taking the Bible a few pages at a time because we all have to work we got to take care of the natural amen there’s no hamburgers from heaven all right tomorrow you got to feed your families and feed your face have a roof over your head it takes work and the Bible is all about.

▶ 37:27 That kind of work if you don’t work you shouldn’t eat the Bible says um but there is also a diligence in seeking God and it’s important for us to make time for that have you made room in your life for God daily and and this is this is true for all of us. Um when you do that when you make time for God in your life you it will have a good effect on all the areas and in your relationship with Jesus Christ leaving the discussion of elementary principles of Christ let us go on to perfection not laying again the foundations of repentance from dead works of faith toward God of doctrine of baptisms laying on of hands resurrection of dead uh and of eternal judgment um if you’re wondering whether or not you should be water baptized it’s uh it’s important some of us are still at these stages we’re repenting from these dead works or we may not have faith toward God these are the beginning stages of having a relationship with him it’s important to know that yes I may be baptized yes I may have faith toward God yes I may have repented but there is a whole another set and a whole different experience to grow into in God and you want to uh

▶ 38:58 go on as it says Paul let us go on let us keep growing our our motto out there is believe grow and know God you got to know your God do you know God is real have you experienced him have you encountered him and also are you willing to keep going on and growing in God very important I encourage you this morning it’s very important for us there is a rest that God has for his people there is a rest that God has for you and for me the church is very important he wants to dwell in us and rest in us he wants us to have rest from our enemies he wants us to cease from our own works the religious people in the time of Jesus Christ they were doing their own works and they did not do God’s works and we can do the same thing today where we fixate on one thing of God and not uh know his ways we’ve got to know his ways what are his ways very important for us to take that on I’d like to invite you at this time we want to invite our God this morning we want to take some time to respond to his word to his truth.

Can anyone encounter Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (40:26)

Short answer: He encountered Jesus at 12, and anyone past 12 can; humble yourself and reach out.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 40:26 For. I’ve said a lot of things today quoted a lot of scriptures but we need God to make it real to us today we need his spirit and his power to make it real to us today when I was 12 years old I experienced. Jesus I encountered Jesus for the first time in my life.

▶ 41:21 So I know anybody past 12 years old can encounter Christ and I submit to you this morning if you’re willing to humble. Yourself if you’re willing to admit if you’re willing to step out and try to reach out to God right now you can have an encounter with Christ but it’s going to take some. Humility I remember I was standing at that article call and I they were playing the song and uh I had been taught to raise my hands and you know as a teenager you’re looking around you’re like oh everybody’s looking at. Me but that action of just raising my hands the power of God came when I did that and see God this morning he he’s he’s wanting us to come his way he’s wanting us to come with humility he wants us to reach out to him so we like to invite you right now.

How does the service respond?

▶ Watch this part (42:29)

This just to invite God right now and then I’m going to invite you to stand well let’s stand together right now. But I’m going to sing a measure or a few and then we’ll have a time where we can respond amen. As the spirit was moving over the wat spirit come move over. Us come rest on us we’re going to pray for one another right now and lay hands on one another right now that God would actually before that before we pray for one.

▶ 48:30 Another as we have heard the word as we have heard the songs this. Morning if we would like to invite Jesus to accept Jesus into our heart we want to be reminded of what it says it says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God every one of us every one of people on the earth have sin but it says that the wages of sin is death and we don’t want that death we know that the the the result the payment for that sin is death we don’t want that and it says the solution the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord says in 1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins he’s faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness this morning no no matter what the past may have in your life no matter what you’ve done you can find cleansing by confessing your sin admitting your wrong if you’ve never accepted Jesus Christ in your heart just lift up your hand right where you’re at and let say Lord Jesus I admit let’s pray this prayer together Lord Jesus I admit I confess my sin before you Lord God I pray that you would cleanse me of my

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: The captions read “Hebrews chapter 48 verse 2 10” (Hebrews 4:8-10); shown as 4:8. The recording places the message first and a worship set after it (~55:35). Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
