▶ 0:04 God is with us even to the end of the age amen he’s with you this. Morning and uh we want to be with him too amen am we want to talk about the Christmas gifts this. Morning merry Christmas first of all merry. Christmas uh what has God given us. His big gifts that he has given us of course we know as we already read and heard John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so our first big gift is who Jesus Christ and it says down in acts oh no it says in Romans 32 or 623 the wages of sin is death right so sin leads us to death but the gift the gift gi of God the gift is eternal life through who Jesus Christ so it’s that eternal life that we get from Christ.

▶ 1:08 Jesus and that’s what it’s saying here whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life and we can put our trust in and uh the scriptures also say that faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen so when we say we believe and trust in there should be evidence that we believe in in Jesus Christ that means something you can see something you can you know touch feel John 14:26 but the advocate the Holy Spirit whom the father will send in my name so the father has sent something else and what is it say it with me the say it Holy. Spirit Acts 238 and you will receive the what gift of the Holy Spirit so the the Holy Spirit is also a gift the son is our first big gift Jesus Christ and the second is the Holy Spirit and both have been sent by the Father.

What does the blood do?

▶ Watch this part (2:13)

Short answer: Cleanses us from all sin—the church was purchased with His blood; your body is His temple.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 2:13 The son in 1 John 1:7 the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from say it together all. Sin okay there’s folks that believe if you uh blaspheme the Holy Spirit that I mean that’s what it says that you can’t be forgiven but what Christ and his death on the cross his blood is above all that it cleanses us from all sin it’s a higher law above that Romans 5:9 and what God is saying is what you’ve done is something really horrible and you need you need somebody’s uh blood and that’s Christ Romans 59 we shall be saved from wrath through him and nobody wants to go to hell I don’t want to go go hell I don’t I don’t know about you guys I don’t want to go there I don’t want God mad at me I don’t do you want God mad at you no I don’t want that Revelations 12:11 they overcame Satan by the blood l do you guys are there chairs needed there’s plenty of chairs over here if you like like to come down uh jaden and and if you guys want to come down there’s plenty of chairs and seats uh no you don’t have to come down Revelations 121 they overcame Satan by the blood of the lamb it’s important to understand these gifts that God has given us what do they do what do they for what is God trying to bring us to and as

▶ 3:43 we read this these scriptures we understand God’s goal God his uh his destination for us we are his people uh do we have any Christians here today who believe in Jesus anybody any body here believe in Jesus yes God wants us to keep getting stronger and keep growing Revelations 12:11 again they overcame he wants you to be an overcomer and we overcome Satan by the what blood of the lamb yeah I’ve messed up I’ve made mistakes but I came to the blood of the lamb I repented I turned from it I did it again I went to the blood I got repent you know that’s the great thing about Christ we can go to his blood but the the problem is folks uh people will keep they get to place where they approve their sin and they say oh I don’t need to repent from that and they don’t go to Jesus and they don’t repent from it that’s a problem but you can overcome Satan Satan you can overcome your flesh by the what blood of the lamb Acts 2:28.

▶ 4:55 2028 the church of the Lord which he purchased for himself with his own blood 1 Corinthians 6:19 you are not your own when we get baptized when we ask him to forgive us uh Jesus is saying hey you’re mine now and some people don’t like excuse me I am not my own I am in charge of myself I am the boss no you’re not the boss see that’s the problem Jesus died for your sin you he he took your place and now he’s calling you to a higher calling you got to answer that call and if you don’t want to be his you don’t have to be his but you know what you’re doing when you say that you’re walking away from him do you understand that and we don’t want to do that we belong to him Ephesians chapter 2: 13 but now Christ but now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away through the blood have been brought near.

What else does He give?

▶ Watch this part (6:03)

Short answer: A new heart for a heart of stone—so we don’t grow numb.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 6:03 And no matter how far youve were from God I use this example of the uh what is that called challenger deep in the ocean there’s a spot where it’s so deep no human can handle being there they have to send down a a a device or you have to go down in one of these pressurized tanks because the water pressure is so high right it’ll crush you it’s so deep but if you’re that far from Christ he can pull you from that depth amen doesn’t matter how far how deep you are from Christ Paul said he was the cheap sinner he was the worst Paul he saved Paul and he can save us he can bring us from wherever we are if you feel that you’re at the bottom of the barrel you’re the bottom of life Christ can bring you from that by the blood of by his blood Hebrews chapter 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God and I bring these scriptures up because we want to understand what did what does this son do what does his blood do what what is the Bible say and these are the things and part of it is cleansing our conscience when’s the last time your conscience interacted with you or has it become numb you don’t want a numb conscience it has to do with your heart right the new covenant says I will give you a heart a

▶ 7:33 new heart and take away your heart of stone our heart becomes hard it becomes uh nothing yeah it’s not responsive nothing is getting through it’s it’s it’s not beating it’s a rock and so when the conscience comes and says hey you shouldn’t do that you’re like. This me me that’s the new word now me. God says don’t do that. Me I don’t.

▶ 8:06 Care we’re numb you don’t want to become numb to go the conscience and that’s what the blood does cleanses our conscience and if it’s not doing that you go to the God and say God by your blood cleanse my conscience. Amen make me give me a new heart Hebrews 13:21 make make you complete in every good work to do his will working you in you that that which is well pleasing in his sight through Christ Jesus to whom be glory forever and ever amen so that blood of Jesus wants to bring you to completion and wants to keep working in you until you are dead how many need that blood working in you till for all your life yes amen yes and that’s what it will do and so we have a big gift from God and that’s his son Jesus you can experience his presence when you come come in and you praise him he’ll come and you can feel him this morning my God that he is not dead he is alive right uh the the scripture that we quoted go and make disciples that was quoted that was Jesus Christ saying that and he said that before he ascended into heaven Jesus is still alive he’s alive right now he rose from the grave he’s living he doesn’t have a body like ours that dies after 90 years he’s alive still and he he comes and you can feel him when you praise him

How do we receive the Spirit?

▶ Watch this part (9:36)

Short answer: Lift up His name, stop and repent, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 9:36 when you lift up his name you invite him he. Comes you know if you invite the kingdom of darkness they come. Too you don’t want that one though right you want Jesus you want the king of kings you want the light if you want to get scared you can invite the kingdom of darkness but don’t do that. He want. Christ acts chap 2:38 repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit so that second gift is what the Holy Spirit and are they on the screen they are I got to check now got to make sure it’s there but uh we also here at the top we want to realize that repentance and uh is part of this package right so repent just means you were walking one way you were acting one way you’re talking one way and then you went I’m not going to do that anymore right you turned away from it maybe in your heart you were headed to certain behaviors but you turned away from that’s what repentance means okay it’s not saying sorry uh you know I use this example all the time if I get on top of somebody and I start hitting him and I say oh sorry oh sorry h you know you can say sorry that doesn’t do you any good right you have to what’s the word repent

▶ 11:08 that means. Stop and that’s what Christ is saying you have to. Stop. Repent and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit John 14:26 the Holy Spirit whom the father will send in my name will say it with me teach you all things and will what remind you of everything I have said to you and so he’s Jesus is talking to his disciples and uh a lot of us today are are challenge the Bible and how it was written and saying oh how did they remember everything who wrote it down they they got it all messed up well this here the Holy Spirit came and the Holy Spirit was reminding them of everything that Jesus.

▶ 12:00 Said and they wrote it down Matthew mark Luke John red letters right we know this they wrote these things down the spirit reminded them the spirit taught them made it real and the spirit will do that to do. Today and we need him to teach. Us you know I’m not a very good teacher okay I’m just I’m up here my kids tell me that all the time but the Holy Spirit is a much better teacher see when he comes and he speaks to you you want to listen when he comes and he speaks you you there’s a reaction there’s a response uh I mean you’re you’re you’re you’re convicted or you get mad one of the two but there is it’s real it’s powerful and that Holy Spirit is for us it’s available for us it will teach us it will remind us it’s not just for Matthew mark Luke and John it’s for us.

Who was filled with the Spirit?

▶ Watch this part (13:03)

Short answer: Elizabeth, Zacharias, Peter and Stephen—Stephen forgave those who killed him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 13:03 Today Luke 1:41 Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost and she spoke out with a loud voice got to get loud you guys were very loud today I loved it it’s wonderful during worship I can. Hear I can hear you guys praising God it’s great wonderful excellent and said she said bless blessed are you among women so uh mary walks into the room where Elizabeth is mary and Elizabeth are related right Elizabeth is pregnant with John the baptist and mary is pregnant with Jesus so mary walks in. And Elizabeth gets filled with the Holy Spirit and she got did she start cursing and saying bad words did she start saying oh get out of here you marry mother of blah blah blah blah right do this is the way people talk is that what she said no she said blessed are you among.

▶ 14:07 Women do we come in and do we say blessed is the Lord blessed is the Lord hallelujah what is our mouth saying what comes out of our mouth is so powerful and so important Luke 1:167 zachariah was filled with the Holy Ghost and prophesied if you remember the story at first he did not believe the angel and he became m he w he couldn’t talk and uh time went on and and the baby was born John was born they asked him what is his name and finally j Zacharias was able to talk and he said his name is. John. And after zachariah watched everything come to. Pass he saw the angel he met with the angel he didn’t believe the angel he saw his wife get pregnant and he’s watching his wife carry that baby all the way to term give birth to that baby this old.

▶ 15:10 Woman and now he’s holding John in his hands and he says his name is John and he begins to prophesy why because he saw it came to pass and he was giving God glory and he was filled with the Holy Spirit he couldn’t contain it anymore amen and we got to get filled with that Holy Spirit when we come into this place when you go home we’ve got to get filled with that Holy Spirit God we got to start speaking his truths his word his uh uh the prophecy is exhortation edification and comfort we want to build up and encourage the body of Christ comfort the body of Christ the Holy Spirit other its other name is.

▶ 16:06 Comforter Acts 4:8 Peter filled with the Holy Spirit another guy oh man all these people are filled with the Holy Spirit hallelujah Peter filled with the Holy Spirit said unto them you rulers of the peoples and elders of Israel so what happens here this is talking about acts in acts two uh they went and carried in Jerusalem and they were in the upper room after Jesus had ascended Jesus said hey go to Jerusalem wait and they waited until Pentecost which is the 50th day uh there it was 10 days from the time Jesus let’s see Jesus rose and he was walking around for 40 days and then he said go te in Jerusalem and then 10 days after that 50th day 50th day the Holy Spirit came they were all filled spoke with new tongues. Right and after that Peter and you got to understand that Peter denied.

▶ 17:00 Christ Peter not only denied Christ he was cursing and screaming and spouting out all kinds of awful things when he denied. Christ Peter would say to Jesus oh you can’t go and die and Jesus would say to man get get behind me Satan get behind me Satan get behind me Satan so this is Peter so now Peter is filled with the Holy Ghost and all of a sudden his words are starting to change and you see though he may have denied Christ though he may have spoke wrong before now he is speaking through the with the Holy Spirit he is speaking truth and you can look up his message that he spoke in acts chapter 4 and find what he had to say and he was showing how Jesus was uh you know because these these Jews did not believe that Jesus was the son of God and he was showing in the Old Testament how Jesus is the son of God that was his message by the Holy Spirit so what do we have to say this Holy Spirit is for you.

▶ 18:13 Today the world is preaching its message to you it’s on all your social media all of the videos you watch they have a message that you’re they’re sharing with you and the spirit of God has its own message. Amen and the spirit of God wants to be inside of you and wants to change you to speak its message and that’s what happened to Peter acts chap 6:8 Stephen a man full of God’s grace and power did great wonders and mira and mira miraculous signs among the people so it says full of God’s grace later it says. Here uh in the next verse that he was was full of the Holy Spirit so steven this guy I don’t know if you heard of him but he’s in acts chapter 6 he was able to do.

▶ 19:09 Miracles and it says in the next verse they could not stand up against his wisdom or the spirit by which he spoke can you imagine that can you imagine talking with people talking with the government talking with. Uh you know the leaders that we have around us the government officials that are around us and being able to be more wise than they are that’s what steven was doing he spoke truth and he w uh they could not speak against his wisdom they got so upset that they ran at him they clenched their teeth and they ran at him and they wanted to kill. Him Acts 7:55 steven being full of the Holy Ghost looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God and he fell on his knees and he cried out and said Lord do not hold the sin against him against them so what happened was Stephen was saying all this stuff he was sharing this message with the Sanhedrin with the Jews and they got so mad at him that they ran at him and they grabbed him pulled him out of that room and they went to stone him and to kill him and Stephen while while he’s being stoned he’s looking up into heaven and he sees the glory of God and he saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God I would like to see that how many you’d like to see.

▶ 20:41 That and it says that he did not hold Lord do not hold this sin against. Them in America today right now to day we sometimes will harbor hatred toward people we can harbor all kinds of unforgiveness we can harbor all kinds of uh malice and maybe it’s people that have done you wrong that you feel deserve your unforgiveness or your your rejection or your hate I’m so mad at you I don’t want to talk to. You a lot of us have a lot of hate toward. People and not only toward people that love us but also hear the these are his enemies they hated him and they killed.

▶ 21:37 Him so not only do we need to have some love toward our people that love us but also toward who our enemies Jesus said love your enemies now I’m not saying you need to go around and let everybody kill you okay you know criminals need to be brought to justice that’s also part of it but you got to understand at this time Stephen is preaching the gospel and these people do not deserve they did a crimal criminal. Act and that’s what Jesus was trying to show these. Jews okay they tithe mint and oil and they they do all these extreme things but they don’t they don’t follow the weightier matters of the law and that is not be violent to.

▶ 22:32 People so these Jews killed Christ and they also killed Stephen and it’s absolutely wrong. But it was part of God’s plan as you. Know but the point is that Stephen did not hold anything in his heart he wasn’t hating and clenching his teeth how could you do this to me I’m never going to forgive you. And see we are that way we can get that way and God is trying to say that this spirit that he gives you can change. That that’s the point that we’re trying to bring out this morning that Holy Spirit if you get that Holy Spirit in you it will change that heart that hatred that you may be holding in your heart Ephesians chapter.

How should we live?

▶ Watch this part (23:26)

Short answer: Not drunk with wine but filled with the Spirit, singing and making melody in your heart.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 23:26 5:18 do not be drunk with wine in which is debauchery but be filled with the spirit so the Holy Spirit God is saying here or Paul is writing here he saying hey don’t be drunk with this over here this is alcohol it’s toxic it’s going to hurt your body hey get filled with this and that is the Holy Spirit be filled with the Holy. Spirit speaking to one another in Psalms hint and spiritual. Songs when I quote the scripture I I imagine people’s minds are like oh I’m going to go around like oh you’re hello you’re so. Wonderful I’m bary now no I’m joking but when we come into God’s house it should not be unfamiliar it should not be strange for us to be able to sing a song it should not be strange for us to sing a hymn or a spiritual song we the Holy Spirit wants to bring us to a place where that becomes.

▶ 24:33 Normal amen amen singing and making melody in in your heart to the Lord God wants to bring you to a place where that is normal for you to sing and give him glory and praise in your heart so when you’re walking around not just when you come into service but as you walk home you drive home you sit at home you know you can have your heart singing and saying oh man God is good God is good I’m going to the bathroom going to the God is good God is good see in your heart it can change your heart what’s happening inside giving thanks always for all.

▶ 25:14 Things that’s what this spirit will do Acts 2:4 1 Corinthians 14:39 they were all filled with the Holy Spirit began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance so on that day the day of Pentecost the people were filled with the Holy Spirit and they started to speak with other languages they started speaking in other uh languages they did they didn’t know and at the temple at that time there were people from all over that came to the temple because pe the Jews had made converts of other nations and those people from other nations came to the temple and these people in the upper room started speaking the their language their native tongue language it says in acts chapter 2 and they were speaking the mighty works of God they weren’t speaking oh you jerk and you idiot you they weren’t cursing which we just do all the time or you hear about it they were speaking good things speaking about God remember the scripture say whatever things are pure whatever things are just whatever things are of good report think on these things speak these.

▶ 26:33 Things you can change your attitude you can change your your mindset by following these simple. Things they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke the word of God with boldness if we want to be able to speak God’s word with boldness the Holy Spirit is that gift to turn us into someone that behaves that way this Holy Spirit is a gift it’s a gift to all of us it’s available to us God is wrapping it with a bow he’s got the wrapping paper it looks so pretty it’s a wonderful thing he’s giving he’s handing out and saying here we can have. That we can have his Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:12 7 the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one to profit it’s for our good is what it’s saying if you want to have some good effects from God that Holy Spirit will profit your life Luke 11:13 how much more will your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him and so we can ask for it a lot of people don’t like to ask for things.

▶ 27:58 We like to manipulate be like uh you know I’m. Thirsty yeah that’s nice did you want something uh yeah give me that water give me that water did you learn how to ask for anything did you learn how to be respectful may I have some water please you know how do you come to God and ask for things how do we come to God and ask for things God give me your spirit come on come on now now you don’t want to give it to I’ll see you later are we patient do we come humbly do we come to God with respect and honor and ask him or do we boss him around like he’s our goto. Daddy our goto you know where’s my gifts God just give them down I don’t I don’t have time for you today.

Whom does God look on with favor?

▶ Watch this part (29:00)

Short answer: The humble and contrite who tremble at His word—obedience is better than sacrifice; we are heirs.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 29:00 As uh Miss Woods if you would. Come in Isaiah chapter 66 says these are the ones I look on with favor those who are humble and contrite in spirit and who tremble at my word so we’ve learned what are those two gifts and what are they the big gifts are Jesus and his what Holy Spirit and now the question is what are the gifts that we bring that we can bring God amen and this Christmas you’re going to receive some gifts I hope if not we’ll get one wrapped in the back for. You and also you’re going to what give some gifts. Amen. Amen but it’s the same with God God has given us gift gifts big gifts and we want to understand what are the gifts that we can give to him what is he looking.

▶ 30:09 For these are the ones I look on with favor those who are. Humble and contrite in spirit who tremble at my word do you mock God’s word do you laugh at God’s word. Or do you come humbly respectfully honorably to the king of kings and the Lord of lords you may look around and be like oh this is the place yeah this is the place where the people of God are unto him shall the gathering of the people doesn’t matter where we are if we’re standing outside in the asphalt when we are gathered together in his name he is there in our midst. Amen and so God is asking us do you have do we have a humble and contrite heart do we tremble at his word the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart that means when you come to God you don’t come with pride you don’t come thinking that you you come saying yes I need more I God Lord I need more of you I need a change you come admitting you come you know a lot of people have trouble.

▶ 31:28 Admitting that they’ done something wrong yeah I just soon as you came in the door and you woke up this morning you did something wrong baby I’m telling you. Y Hebrews 13:15 through Jesus therefore let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise like we did this morning I uh was talking to my friend here and he was reminding me yeah I want to beat back the Satan and we were talking about the verses that we he heard me quote for years out of the mouth of babes and sucklings I have ordained praise to what to still to freeze to stop the enemy and the avenger to beat them back and see praise is so powerful but it’s also a offer a gift to God that we can give do we understand that when we come down when you come in when you praise this is our gift that we are giving does God need your praise no but this is our gift.

▶ 32:38 1st Samuel 15:22 does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in say this together obeying the Lord you see when you obey when you repent and you obey that is a gift that we can give. God Psalms 545 offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord in Galatians 4:4 it says God sent his son to redeem those under the law that we might receive adoption to sunship so that we are no longer a slave but we are what God’s child. Why why did he give those gifts why do we have the son why do we have the Holy Spirit why because he wants to make you his son his daughter his child.

▶ 33:44 And since you are his child he has also made you a what an heir you know what that means that means you get to receive the inherit. Itance and it says that we are joint heirs we are joint hs with Christ and we get to receive the things that Christ gets to receive all right this is a powerful promise this is a powerful identity that we are. Receiving and so these gifts the sun the Holy Spirit when we receive them accept them respond to them like we’ve been sharing this morning when we are receiving that Holy Spirit and let it change those areas in our life God is making us his child and so let’s respond this morning we’re going to sing this Christmas song oh come let us adore him and we’re going to respond and we’re going to adore and honor and come humbly to God this morning so I’d like to invite you to come up to the front and let’s surrender.
