God Reveals Himself to and Corrects Unbelievers Part 2: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Daniel urged the king to break off his sins. Instead he boasted and was driven out until he learned the Most High rules. Looking up to heaven, his reason returned and he praised God, who abases the proud—a lesson in humility like Moses’.
What was Daniel’s advice?
Short answer: Break off your sins by righteousness and mercy—it may lengthen your tranquility.
▶ 0:00 Now, here’s Daniel’s advice to the king. Powerful advice. Or I got the second title. How to avoid God’s correction. See, God’s going to correct Nebuchadnezzar. That’s what the dream is saying. And Daniel tells him how to avoid God’s correction, God’s punishment. Any interested in that? How many of you want to go through God’s correction? No, you don’t want to go through it. You have to go through it if you’re wrong. And you have to go through it if you’re right. And God is dealing with what? Your whole family, a whole church, or a whole nation. Hallelujah. But you don’t want to go through that. You just want to learn by listening to the father and doing what he says.
▶ 0:56 Wouldn’t that be nice, parents, if our kids just listened to us the first time? That they didn’t have to be corrected. Hallelujah. Okay. Truth number two. What was truth number one? The Most High rules in the kingdoms of men and gives it to whomsoever he will. The heavens rule. Truth number two, repentance. Look at this. Look at this. Daniel tells the king, verse 27, “Break off your sins by righteousness, not faith, not grace, not repentance.” I mean, repentance.
▶ 1:50 And what is the American churches stressing to the American believers? Faith. No matter what you do, you believe in God, everything’s cool. Grace. You don’t have to do any works because this is a grace thing. Isn’t that what they’re pushing? And penance. The Catholic Church is good at that one. Telling their people to do some suffering thing so that they can be forgiven. Aren’t you glad Jesus suffered for us want we can just repent and go on? Absolutely. But what is being pushed on American people and they’re they’re accepting it? Faith, grace, and penance. But Daniel says, “Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Break off your sins by doing right.” How do I deal with sin?
▶ 2:46 By stop doing the sin. I repent. I admit I’m wrong and I turn from that sin. I may fall a few times and go back to it, but I’m on the road to what? Leaving that sin behind me. Powerful. And Daniel had this before the new covenant even came along. And everything in the new covenant, folks, is found in the old covenant. It’s just the new covenant is the fulfillment, the reality of it all. Hallelujah. And break off your iniquities, your injustices. And justice is treating people unfairly, unrightly. See? So the king was doing some unjustice, wasn’t he?
Scripture in this part
Daniel 4:27 (NKJV)
Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”
— Daniel 4:27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00What happened to the king?
Short answer: He boasted and was driven out—the Most High rules in the kingdoms of men.
▶ 3:38 Was he unjust when he wanted to kill Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and put him in a fiery furnace? Yeah, that was unjust. They hadn’t did anything wrong to right standards, just the king’s standards. And parents, we got to learn that we can only demand out of our children what is right according to God’s description of right, not what we say is right. Your kids are going to grow up. They’re going to get a brain in their head and they’re going to realize you’ve been lying to them and they’re going to rebel. When you want them to do something that you have a little hobby horse about and it’s really not right, it’s just you make it a right. Amen. Parents or owe me.
▶ 4:33 I know a lot of parents that have these little personal beliefs that are wrong and they force their kids to obey it. And one day those kids grow up. I’ve watched it. And wow, there’s problems in the home because those kids aren’t little kids anymore that can’t think. They can think now. See, when your kids are little, they just believe you. But when they get to the thinking stage that you get exposed. Hallelujah. That was just thrown in on the side, you know, focus on the family time. You know what I mean? Okay. You do you correct these injustices by showing mercy, showing compassion, doing good.
▶ 5:25 And it says to the poor. There’s two kinds of poor people in the Bible. Those that have less money are not their needs not being met and those that have spiritual needs that are not being met. And see the church is responsible for the spiritual side and the church is also responsible for the physical side. We got to do both. But you’re responsible also for the physical side. Every family. The Bible says in Peter that the family is the one that takes care of needy family members, not the government, not the church. The church only takes care of those who have no family. It’s very plain in Peter. Are you there? And yet we got churches that get high off of given to the poor, given to the homeless, and all the rest.
▶ 6:19 They get a they get a high off of that. They feel like they’re really spiritual. When we really need to get the home back in order and the home be responsible. Now, folks, that’s good preaching. I I don’t know if you got that, but that’s good preaching there. Okay. The poor need justice. They need to be treated right and fair. And the Bible plainly says, “Do not uh uh take sides with a poor man in his cause when he’s wrong.” Okay? Do not preference the poor in his cause. Okay? Right and wrong covers everybody. Okay? So the poor need justice. They need freedom. And Nebuchadnezzar had them in slavery.
▶ 7:14 The poor need an education. You see, you’re under the slavery of ignorance when you don’t have knowledge. And it’s the responsibility of every parent to get their kids educated rightly, not wrongly. Amen. And send them to a public school where they’re indoctrinated with evolution and and homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle and all the rest of this stuff. I don’t think that’s a wise decision on Christian’s part. See, that educational part is important. And the poor need a home, they need a property, and they need a job. And when America made a decision in the ‘9s to go global with our economy and we shipped over a million jobs a year, that hurt the poor of America.
▶ 8:10 And see, our our welfare role has increased. Why? Because we don’t have a lot of labor jobs and bluecollar jobs anymore. We keep shipping them overseas. And then we tell people, well, you just got to get a tech, you know, you got to get a high-tech education. Well, some people’s brains don’t work that way. You ever noticed that? You could teach them how to work a computer and and fix a computer for 40 years and they never will get it. But everybody has an ability and a skill. And you hit that area, they’re good at it. They may be good at fixing cars. You see, they may be good at running a business. They may be good at driving a truck.
▶ 9:03 You see, and it may be for the lengthening of your tranquility or peace. Okay. In verses 28 and 29, it says, “All of it was fulfilled in a 12-month period.” period. A 12-month period goes by and then Nebuchadnezzar walks out on his balcony. He’s got these hanging gardens, this this wall that is 300t high with these hanging gardens all around. Beautiful growing all these plants and vegetables and whatever fruit. And he looks out all over Babylon as far as his eye can see is nothing but people and houses. And he says, “Is not this great Babylon?” Now look at here. This is the same problem they had at the Tower of Babel. Okay?
▶ 9:56 I have built by my power. See, let us make us a tower for us. See, we start focusing on the human’s ability to do things without God. Me, myself, and I. That’s pride. For the honor of my majesty. He don’t care about the people. He don’t care about God. It’s all about him. And how many of you been through a time in your life or know people that all they do is brag about their achievements? If they’re an athlete, they brag. If they’re a musician, they brag. You know, if they do anything, they brag, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag. A voice from heaven.
▶ 10:47 Woo! Here’s a heathen king with an audible voice from heaven. I haven’t ever heard of an audible voice from heaven. I feel left out. But I wouldn’t want an audible voice from heaven when it’s going to talk like this. I’ll just take the Bible. It’s sufficient. Amen. Oh king, I can’t even do it justice. Can you imagine what God’s voice sounds like? I mean, it just shakes the very fiber of your being. Oh king, the kingdom is departed from you. Boom. They’ll drive you from man. You’ll dwell with the beast of the field. They’ll make you to eat grass as oxen. And seven times shall pass over you, oh king, until you know, here’s truth number one, that three times he’s repeated it.
▶ 11:46 The most high rules in the kingdoms of men and gives it to whomsoever he will. How many of you got that truth now? Yes. All right. Three times. We ought to get it. The same hour that the voice came, the same hour was the thing fulfilled. Nebuchadnezzar was driven from men. Who drove him? Watchers Watchers. And the holy ones. He ate grass ex as auction the same hour. This is not a gradual thing. I mean, he went one minute honoring himself and he’s down there eating grass just like that. How many you know that’s humbling? You got a crown on you and robes and all of a sudden, man, you go from bragging about yourself to eating grass and you’re dealing with somebody you can’t deal with.
▶ 12:41 And that’s spirit beings. He can’t command them. He can’t say, you know, you’re mistreating me. No, you don’t talk back to spirit beings. They don’t listen. They take the they take their commands from God. His body wet with the dew of heaven till his hairs grew. Now this time went by. His hairs grew and his toenails grew like birds and eagle feathers. Verse 34. At the end of the days, not years. Say it. Days. Days. Days. Now, how many know if they’re going to say seven years, he would have said years. A lot of you young ones don’t know this, but there’s all kinds of books out there about this being seven years when it plainly says they were what?
▶ 13:44 Days. What. Days? It’s just seven times some kind of season of days that God is using to discipline Nebuchadnezzar. All right? Just like in Job. The best I can figure out, his punishment was less than a year. It wasn’t like it was carried out forever. God does a quick work. Thank God. How many if you go to go to the woodshed, you’d like it to be less than a year. You go. Yeah. You don’t want seven years of punishment, do you? No way. First thing is Nebuchadnezzar lifted up his eyes to heaven.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 4:30-32 (NKJV)
The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”
— Daniel 4:30-32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:38What restored him?
Short answer: He lifted his eyes to heaven—all inhabitants are reputed as nothing; God does as He wills.
▶ 14:35 He’s out there during this time and then something moved him to look up to the heavens. Okay. Immediately his understanding returned to him. So who took his understanding? The watchers and the holy ones took his understanding. You don’t want to mess with these guys. Okay. Number two, when his understanding returned and he looked toward the heavens, I blessed. I spoke good of God. I praised. I bragged about God and I honored the most high God who lives forever. Now that’s Revelation again. He got Revelation that God is an eternal being and he praised him.
▶ 15:31 You know how many Christians will not praise and bless God because they didn’t grow up that way? Whatever excuse. And yet this king learned to what? Bless God. Speak good of God. Praise him. Brag about God. The Bible says in Psalms, “Let the high praises of God be in thy mouth. Sing praises to God. Sing praises. Sing praises with. Understanding. Sing praises.” Psalm says. And what separates the Christians from all religions in the world is our way we pray and the way we worship. See, we lift our hands. We bow down to no symbol. We sing blessed assurance Jesus is mine.
▶ 16:28 Yeah. See, we sing joyful songs, heartbreaking songs, love songs to Jesus. Number three, more Revelation. Whose dominion is everlasting. His rulership is everlasting. And his kingdom, the area he rules over, is from generation to generation. It didn’t just start in the New Testament early church. See, his kingdom was there from the beginning. Can I hear an amen? Back in the old days, the church mainly said the sooncoming king. And then one day, the Holy Ghost revealed, “He ain’t the soon cominging king. He’s king now, and he’s king when he comes.”. And it made all the difference in our approach. Hallelujah.
▶ 17:24 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing. You know, you think you might be something, you know, because you’re a good warrior or you’re an administrator or whatever. And God, when it’s measured up to God, you’re nothing. You ain’t nothing. And you ain’t got nothing without him giving it to you. Hallelujah. So get off your pride. He does according to his will in the army of heaven. Is there an army in heaven? Yeah. And among the inhabitants of the earth, is he involved in the affairs of men? Yes. These people that say God is not involved in affairs of men are totally biblically wrong. He is. And none can stop his hand or say unto him, “What are you doing?
▶ 18:18 What are you doing this for? What are you bringing the Jews into captivity?” Man, that’s not You’re supposed to be a loving God. What? You’re getting these guys castrated and they’re dying from famine and sicknesses and diseases. What kind of God is that? None can what? Stop his hand or say, “What are you doing?” You can’t put a guilt trip on God. He knows what he’s doing, folks. He knows who he is. Are you there? Hallelujah. At the same time, see, when he praised God, when he blessed God, when he looked to the heavens, when his understanding returned to him, when he was revealed who God was, at that same time, my reason returned to me.
▶ 19:10 My ability to think like a king, my reason, my wisdom, my ability to think and come to a logical conclusion returned to me. Now, his understanding had returned before, but now his reasoning. And how many of you know we need an ability in our mind that connect with our spiritual mind to know how to resolve a conflict, a problem and come up with the right answer. Yes. Amen. Just knowing about the Bible doesn’t help. Reasoning, being able to use the Bible in its time and in its place is what makes the difference. And that was returned to him. See, a lot of Christians have knowledge of the Bible, but they have no reasoning. They can’t reason the Bible with you. They come up with the craziest things I ever heard in my life.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 4:34-35 (NKJV)
And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, “What have You done?”
— Daniel 4:34-35 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:35What is the lesson?
Short answer: God is truth, Satan the liar; those who walk in pride He can abase—Moses’ humility took no credit.
▶ 20:05 I was one of them back there when I was a young Christian. But reading the Bible every year and studying it really changed me in about a year and a half. It just revolutionized my life and my reasoning returned for the honor of my kingdom. And my honor and the brightness returned unto me. My counselors and lords sought unto me. Now, I mean, you know, counselors and lords aren’t going to go out to some guy eating grass. Something wrong here. But because of the watchers and the holy ones, they didn’t dare do anything to this king. Isn’t that something? Ever what this time period was, they didn’t do anything. But now that he’s back to normal, here they come. Cuz see, they didn’t have any answers.
▶ 20:57 And they recognized just like that that now the king was back to normal. Now, how many you know that’s God? Isn’t this a beautiful chapter? Powerful. Powerful. And I was established in my kingdom. Put back on the throne and excellent majesty was added into me. He got rewarded. You see, after his disciplinary action. How many you know discipline’s good if I’m going to get a good reward at the end. And how many you know, a lot of us, we’re only going to learn through discipline. I was one. I hard-headed as they come, man. I’d grown up with certain Bible doctrines and all that and I defended them to the end until God one by one began to change my thinking.
▶ 21:56 Isn’t it amazing how we’ll defend the doctrines of our forefather without even going to the Bible and seeing if it’s true? Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven. Here it is again. He praises, he exalts, and he honors the Lord Jesus Christ. All whose works are truth and his ways judgment. The Bible is a literal book. Literal means it’s a book of truth. When George Br Bush Jr. Said that the Bible was not a literal book, he got that from who? Who lies? The Devil lies.
▶ 22:50 His source of truth there was from the liar, Satan himself. God is a God of truth, a God of facts. The Bible says that God cannot lie. It’s not in him. Amen. And this heathen king is getting this Revelation. If a heathen king can get this kind of Revelation, is it possible that his people can? Yes. Even the worst of us believers, is it possible that we can also have this Revelation? Absolutely. So don’t get down on yourself. You got hope. If God can do this to a heathen king to show the world that he rules in the kingdoms of men, to show the world that you break off sin by doing right, surely he can do that to us.
▶ 23:46 And here’s the key. Are you ready for truth number three? You sure you want to see this? You sure you want me to put these words up here? Because after you see them, you’re accountable for them. All right. How many of you are believers? Hallelujah. Good. I won’t ask how many are disciples. How many working on being a disciple? That’s good. That’s good. Hallelujah. Okay. Here it is, folks. Truth number three. Those that walk in pride, he is able to humble. What’s the opposite of pride? Being humble. Who is the most humble man on the earth besides Jesus?
▶ 24:40 Moses. Very good. Very good. Did Moses go down from the mountain to the crowd and say, “Uh, please don’t make this golden calf.” And Please, you know, please, you know, this golden cap, this is not good. Or did he come down, break that thing in pieces and demand that the people drink of the water that he put the residue in and worship God? And he was called the what? Most humble man on earth outside of Jesus. So in other words, being humble is not being a wimp. Being humble is standing up for God, admitting you’re wrong when you’re wrong, and helping people to see their wrongs by leading them to right. That’s what humility is, and taking no credit for it.
▶ 25:37 Taking no credit for it. You see, Moses’s humility, when God wanted to destroy Israel, Moses said, “No, no, don’t destroy them. Destroy me.” Why? Because see, a humble person cares for the things God cares for. And that’s why Paul said, “I wish that I could die for my people, Israel.” He that’s what he said. Why? Because he was humble and he understood that God had the power to do things and we are only instruments. Now, I don’t know about you, but pride is one of the things that really hinders me in my growth with God. I want to brag about my accomplishments and not even look to the next flaw God wants to change.
▶ 26:33 How about you? Yeah. You just want to think about all the accomplishments you got. Even if it’s just one, you’ll talk about it everywhere you go. 10 years later, you’re talking about that one accomplishment. See, that’s pride. But a humble person goes, “God, that’s nice that you showed me this, but what’s the next thing I need to change without going through the correction? I don’t want to eat grass. I don’t want to grow eagle’s feathers. I just want to learn.” Amen. Three truths. First one, God rules in the kingdoms of men and gives it to whomsoever he will. The heavens rule, even the bases of men. Truth number two, repent.
▶ 27:26 Break off sins by doing right. Isn’t that what Jesus taught? Repent and believe the gospel first. Repent and then believe the gospel, learn the gospel, and walk in it. And number three, God is able to humble you. If you want to be prideful, the way to deal with pride is just go to God and say, “Lord, like David did, search me, oh God. Try me and see if there’s any wicked way in me.” just come and say, “God, here I am. Show me my faults.” Or else he’s going to come and he’s going to bring problems in your family, problems in your economy. He’s going to bring problems in your life. So, you will humble yourself. They may think it’s wise to take the easy road here. Just God see God show me.
