After extended worship, a guest speaker shares his testimony and teaches that the great commission belongs to every believer: don’t bury your talent, serve the least of these, and carry people to Jesus like the paralytic’s friends. An altar call follows.

Short answer: Worship—“Bless the Lord, oh my soul,” an invitation to dance, “Let us adore Him,” and prayer for lasting change.

▶ 0:21 Bless the Lord, oh my soul. Oh my soul, worship his holy name. Sing like never [music and singing] before. David danced, danced before the Lord, danced, bringing in the ark of the covenant, led it with sacrifices and dancing.

▶ 1:52 And so this morning, you are welcome and invited to dance like the Bible says to dance. And with our mouths we shout. We can shout like J. They shouted at Jericho. And they said, “Ha ha.” Can you shout on the count of three? Say Jesus. One, two, three. Jesus. Oh. One more time. A little louder. Come on. Now, when I actually when I work with the kids and I ask them to shout, you have to close your ears. I’ll give you another chance. One, two, three. Hallelujah. And we sing and we speak the mighty works of God. And that’s what these songs are about.

▶ 2:43 Can you sing hallelujah? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Also, we learned on Friday night that out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, I have ordained what? Praise. In the Old Testament, it says strength. And we learn that praising God is strength. And this message that we’re sharing with this weekend is about hope, purpose, and freedom. And if we want purpose, if we want freedom, we’re going to have to become strong. We also learned on Friday night along with praise, we also must start to obey.

▶ 3:36 Amen. And last night on I’m sorry, yesterday morning, we learned that that Holy Spirit is so important and powerful and we need to seek after it. The Bible says uh uh Peter said repent be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ and you will receive the Holy Spirit. It is for your children and for those who are a far off. That’s us. And so we need these things working in our lives. Amen. So, I’m going to open with Psalms 19, and we’re going to go into one chord, and it’s your opportunity this morning to praise and lift up the name of Jesus. We’re also going to stand at this time out of respect for God’s word. After we sing and praise God for a few moments, we’re going to start worship. And I’d like to invite you to come forward.

▶ 4:28 Uh you don’t have to sit at your table necessarily, but you can stand where you’re at and we can begin worship. Let me read out of Psalms 19. The heavens declare the glory of God. The firmament shows his handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out throughout all the earth and their words to the ends of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the son which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices like a strong man to run its race. The heavens declare the glory of God.

▶ 5:24 If the heavens are declaring it, let’s declare it this morning. Hallelujah. We praise you. We praise you. Yeah. Heat. Glory, glory in the highest. Glory to the Almighty.

▶ 6:16 Glory to the Lamb [music and singing] of God. Glory to the living word. I give glory to the Lamb. Glory, glory in the highest. Glory to the Almighty. Glory to the Lamb of God. Glory to the world. I give [singing and music] glory to the Lamb. I give I give glory glory I give glory glory I give glory glory to the lamb glory I give glory to the lamb glory glory in [music and singing] the highest glory to the almighty I give glory to the lamb of God.

▶ 7:22 Glory to the living word. I give glory to the lamb. Oh, I give glory, glory. I give glory, glory. I give glory, glory [music and singing] to the lamb. I give glory to the [singing and music] lamb. I give glory to the lamb. I give glory [music and singing] to the lamb. Yeah. Heat.

▶ 8:40 Hosana. [music and singing] Hosana. Hosana in the highest. Hosana. Hosana. Hosana in the highest. Yes. In the Lord our God. Hosana in the highest. Hosana. Hosana. Hosana [music and singing] in the highest. Hosana. Hosana. Hosana in the highest. Lord, we [music and singing] lift up your name with our hearts full of praise. Jesus Lord our [music and singing] God in the highest.

We lift up your name with our hearts full [singing and music] of praise. We exalted, oh Lord our God. Hosana in the highest. Hosana. Hosana. Hosana in the highest. Hosana. Hosana. Hosana in the highest. Lord. We lift up your name with a heart full of praise.

▶ 10:31 Be exalted. Lord our God, hosana in the highest. Be exalted, [music and singing] oh Lord our God. Hosana in the highest. Be exalted, [music and singing] oh Lord our God. Hosana in the highest. Hosana in [music and singing] the highest. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Lord. We glorify you Lord. We worship. We worship you. Thank you. Thank you Jesus. Oh yeah.

▶ 11:43 This we believe that we have a father creator who was and who is and will be. Who sent us his son and poured out his spirit with power to heal, resurrect [music and singing] and redeem. The song [music and singing] of the saint forever will be. Glory to God.

▶ 24:41 Jesus Christ is [singing and music] the Lord is the Jesus Christ is the Lord. Lord Jesus, we acknowledge like we did in the Psalms this morning, the earth is yours and all its fullness. Lord, the heavens declare your glory. God, we pray, Lord Jesus, as your people that we would express and declare your glory as well. Lord God, we pray through this weekend as we learn, Lord God, to begin to obey, Lord God, to begin to let the spirit of God do a mighty work in our hearts, Lord God, to bring us to a place where we are expressing, declaring the glory of God, Jesus, in our lives that people can see.

▶ 25:53 God, let it affect us inside for the rest of our life eternally. Jesus, not just a one day thing, not just a one weekend thing, but every day. Jesus, Jesus, God, we want to be a new creation. But it says, “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” Lord, we pray for that fulfillment. God, we ask this morning for those who wherever we are at today, God, that you would put in us a strong desire, Lord God, to be made a new creation. Lord God, we may have said and spoke the the things of the world, but now we are speaking of the mighty powerful works of God and grow into a place to declare and show forth the glory of God.

▶ 26:56 Jesus, we pray this morning. We pray this morning, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Let us [singing and music] adore him. Let [music and singing] us adore him. Jesus Christ is the Lord. Come and behold him. Bow [singing and music] down before him.

▶ 27:51 Jesus Christ is the Lord. Hallelujah. Let’s lift our hands. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. [music and singing] Hallelu. Hallelujah.

▶ 28:51 Hallelujah. [singing and music] Hallelu. Hallelu. [music and singing] As we sing this again with our hands lifted and closing right now, we also want to sing it in a way expressing yes God do that new creation work in me. Make me that new creation. Put your spirit in me. Fulfill the new covenant in me. As we’ve been talking about this weekend as we sing it again. That’s our response this morning. Stop and and pray and ask for God to do that in you. Let’s lift up our voices real quick.

▶ 29:42 It’s an opportunity just to respond to what was spoken. God, I want to show forth your glory. Let’s lift up our voices. Jesus, Lord, we pray, God, that you would do it in us. Lord, we pray, God, that you would do it in us, Jesus. We pray for your power in our hearts. God, we pray for that new Jesus. Jesus mighty God. Jesus Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

▶ 30:42 Hallelu. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. [singing and music] You may find your seats now. Lord God, we are thankful. We are thankful, Lord Jesus. I’m going to invite Carmen to come up and pray for Pastor Tony comes and speaks.

Who is speaking?

Short answer: A guest speaker introduces his wife Carmen and shares how he cried out of a pit.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Guest speaker (Freedom House ministry; name not stated)

▶ 31:46 And uh this is my wife Carmen. And I’m very thankful for my wife. She’s been a great blessing to me. Is going to pray and open for the speaker this morning. Yes. Heavenly Father, we just thank you for your presence this morning. Thank you for blessing us with your presence. And I don’t know why I’m crying, but Father, we thank you for Mr. And Mrs. Woods, thank you for the wisdom that you’ve given them. Thank you for the fire that you’ve given them. Thank you for the zeal that you’ve given them, Father God, and the love for your people.

▶ 32:51 And this my prayer that their word would be as a seed onto fertile ground in the hearts of those that need it and all of us. It is my prayer, heavenly father, that you would make a way where there seems to be no way. This is my prayer, Father God, that you would make yourself so real to everyone in this place that have never had an encounter with you that don’t know who you are. They heard of you. They know of you, but they don’t know you. Father, would you please send your Holy Spirit and baptize us Aresh? We need it. Your word says that only the Lord Jesus Christ can baptize us with the spirit of God.

▶ 33:46 Father, we are crying out to you today that you will make a way where there seems to be no way. That it would not just be today that your presence continues with everyone here. That that Holy Spirit power would empower them to make the right decisions to truly surrender to you. I was there once, playing church, having a double life. And by his grace, he struck me down and took everything away and said, “Do I have your attention now?” That’s his grace. If you say one prayer today, let it be this. Father, do whatever it takes.

▶ 34:40 Get me out of this pit. Do whatever it takes. I can’t do it alone anymore. Father, let that be the genuine prayer in our hearts today. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. I’m going to invite Mr. Tony Wood up. Sir, mama, let me give you this watch.

▶ 35:34 I’m getting notifications. I don’t need any distractions. Good morning, everybody. It’s great to be back here with you this morning. Jesus, we love you so much this morning. Thank you for your sweet Holy Spirit presence showing up in this place already. Lord, I just ask you this morning, God, that you would open our ears, God. Lord, that you would speak to our hearts, God. Lord, let us see what it is that you have for us today, Lord. Lord, I ask you Lord that clarity of mind, Lord, that you would give me the right words anointed by your spirit of Jesus.

▶ 36:29 Amen. And amen. I guess I’m going to have to get over what’s going on with the speaker up here because it is uh echoing in the back of my head over here. And so [clears throat] I want to to backtrack really quick and say that uh you know we learned uh Friday night that we have to obey the Lord that the wrath is real that you know you [clears throat] may not consider it wrath and uh could you please turn that down a little bit bud? I don’t know what’s going on but that is it’s something’s going on there. Thank you. Uh [clears throat] that the wrath is real and that you know I don’t know if you guys have ever read Deuteronomy 28, okay, where it says if if if you obey the Lord, all these blessings come upon you.

▶ 37:33 But if you do not, the opposite of that happens to you. And the reason I know that’s true is because I lived the last half of Deuteronomy 28 or 28 years my life was in misery. Okay? And so we we learned that we need to obey the Lord 100% in all possible ways. And then we learned yesterday that he didn’t tell us to obey him without giving us the tools to do it. And and I hope I depicted that well enough for you to understand it yesterday. I felt like I had failed when I got done, which that’s pretty normal for me when I get done. I’m like, well, I missed it. And so I have no intentions of missing it this morning. I assure you. Amen. So I want to talk to you today about what we do with the power to obey. What we do with the knowledge we learn when we come out, what we do with it, and how the Lord set us free and delivered us through our service.

▶ 38:30 Okay? And so what do you do with what you’ve been given? Well, there is overwhelming evidence in this word right here that tells us what we’re supposed to do. So, people often ask us, “How did you do it?” You know, “How did you do it?” And I’m like, “Do what? I don’t understand.” You know, “Why are you guys so blessed? What do you mean? This is just the life the Lord’s given us.” Well, you know what makes you different than anyone else? Why do y’all get people to church and other people don’t? We can’t. Some of us don’t get people to come to church. What makes that different? And so, I have shared so many times that God literally delivered my family through our service because somebody didn’t have to tell me when I came to the Lord that I needed to help somebody.

▶ 39:27 It was just automatic. Now, I would like to say I’m not going against what brother Kenser said yesterday about bringing somebody in your house. So, y’all just we’ll go ahead and get and establish that to start with. So, so in Matthew 28:16, we’re going to start here. We all know this. If we don’t, we should. Then the 11 disciples went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, Jesus, they worshiped him, but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore,” there’s that word again. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything.” There’s that word, obey again.

What does the parable of the talents teach?

▶ Watch this part (40:22)

Short answer: The great commission is for all—the one-bag servant buried his gift; it’s not just for me.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Guest speaker (Freedom House ministry; name not stated)

▶ 40:22 I have commanded you. Right? So I would like we know this is the great commission and we know that we are called to be a disciple and go and make disciples. Right? So we know that this is just the bare minimum. I would like to tell you that the bare minimum is that you go tell somebody about Jesus. The bare minimum is you go share what he gave you. That’s the bare minimum. I mean we’re all called to do that. And and you know I wondered was he just talking to Jewish people here? But when he said make disciples of all nations, what do disciples do? They disciple people. There’s probably some real complicated word for disciple, but Tony’s definition is a disciplined individual for Jesus Christ. Okay? And so obedience and and walking in obedience and obeying is not just about what we don’t do.

▶ 41:18 It’s not just about turning from the sin I talked about. It’s not just about saying no to oursel in those areas. It’s about what we do, right? I read you a scripture yesterday that said we were going to be judged on what we did. And so I I hate to drop this to you this morning, but if all you’re worried about, I’ll just be real with you. If all you are worried about is what’s happening at your house, if all you’re worried about is what’s happening inside your little church building when you go to church on Sunday, we’re missing it. I’m just telling you, if all you’re concerned about is making sure me and mine is okay and all you’re concerned about is what happens inside the four walls of the church, you are missing it. Okay? Period. And so I’m fixing to break this down and I want you to make sure you track with me here through this because I’m going to I’m going to get to the place where I explain to you.

▶ 42:15 And mama mama hit it pretty good yesterday with some I don’t even remember what the question was, but she got to saying about how it’s love. It’s loving these people that draws them. Okay. So, and and in Matthew, uh my brother is like, “Are you sure you want me to copy all?” I’m like, “Yes, all of these are backtoback here for a reason.” So, it’s a lot of scripture. Y’all just bear with me. I’m going to read it to you. So, in Matthew 25:14, and these two parables are backtoback, okay? Jesus did this on purpose. Again, it will be like a man going on a journey who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received the five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.

▶ 43:09 So also the one who had two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money. After a long time, the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five master. He said, “You have entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more. You just go ahead and put souls in that place this morning. Go ahead and put souls in that place instead of bags of gold this morning.” Okay. The man who had two bags of gold also, “Come, master.” He said, “You entrusted me with two bags of gold. See, I have gained two more.” His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Ain’t that what we want to hear?

▶ 44:01 You have done, you have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of more. I will entrust you some more souls if you’ll go gain some with what I give you. Right? Then the man who had received one bag of gold came and master, he said, I knew you were a hard man. Harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. You know what? He gives us the the job to do that. He does harvest where he didn’t have to scatter the seed because he sends us out to do it because he gave it to us, right? So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. I just kept my sweet little salvation for me and mine. See, here is what belongs to you, his master replied. You wicked lazy servant. That’s pretty harsh, is it not?

▶ 44:53 This ain’t about bags of gold, people. It’s about taking what God gave you that he freely gave you and you going and producing something else with what he gave you. It’s about you going to spread and love other people the way you were loved. That’s what it’s about. Okay? And [clears throat] so you knew, let’s see, so you knew that I harvest where I have not swn and I gather where I have not scattered seed. Well, then you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers. So that when I return, I would have received it back with interest. So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has 10 bags. That’s how it works. Even what you have will be taken if you’re not faithful with it. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have even what they have will be taken from him and throw that worthless servant outside because I gave him life and he did nothing with it into the darkness where there’ll be weeping and nashing of teeth.

▶ 45:50 Now, when you read this in this context, it’s kind of like uhoh. Uhoh. Maybe this ain’t just for me, right? And then right after that, I’m not going to go into the metaphor here about the difference between a sheep and a goat, but you know, a sheep always follows the shepherd. And a goat is a hard-headed, always about themselves, rebellious. I’m going to tell you what, I’ve had some goats. I don’t know if y’all ever had it over here in California, but if you ain’t got a a matter of fact, electric fence that would I’m talking about knock fire from you. That goat would get a running start and run through the fence. It’d be popping him while he run through it. And it take my bulldog to catch him. Okay? That’s the only way you can get him back. But the sheep won’t even go outside the fence if the shepherd don’t. Okay? So there’s your a quick depiction.

▶ 46:41 So we’re moving on to Matthew 25:31. Oh, I’m going to have to turn there. It ain’t in here. Hallelujah. I’m so grateful for the light that’s over my eyes up here right now. I haven’t had as many birthdays as brother Ker, but I’ve had enough that it matters. Amen. So, when the son of man comes, this is powerful, folks. When I I I I did it took me about three months to read Matthew the last time that I read it. And this is so powerful. I’ve never seen it this way. When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him. And he will separate the people from one another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

▶ 47:34 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world, for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him. Y’all see that? The righteous, the people that helped other people.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 25:14-30 (NKJV)

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Whom do we serve?

▶ Watch this part (48:27)

Short answer: The least of these—whatever you did for them you did for Him; gifts serve others, and the great must be servants.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Guest speaker (Freedom House ministry; name not stated)

▶ 48:27 Then the righteous will answer him,”Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see a stranger and invite you in or need clothing and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison or go to visit you?” Then the king will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Now, we all know this verse, right? Never seen it like this. This is where it gets rough. Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me. You are cursed into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels. For when I was hungry, you did nothing to help me. You gave me nothing to eat. When I was thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink.

▶ 49:21 When I was a stranger, you did not invite me in. I needed clothes and you did not clothe me. I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. They will answer,”Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison and did not help you?” He will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for the dead, dying world that needs me, there’s my words. Whatever you did not do for the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. I don’t know if y’all are comprehending what this is saying right here, but the Lord says, “You need to take what I gave you and you need to go produce something with it and help my people.” You know what?

▶ 50:23 Well, who is his people? You know, we know you have to be adopted into sunship, right? We know that we’re all God’s creation, but we’re not all born his children, right? We understand that, right? You have to become his child, right? First John clearly says, “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the Devil are. Those who do not do what is right is not God’s child.” Right? So clearly we have a responsibility as the church to love, to help, to outreach, to do everything we can. Now, how do we do that? It’s a great question. You see, loving our neighbor, caring for widows and orphans, forgiving, bearing burdens, giving, humility, hospitality, laying down your life, preferring others above yourself, all of these things that were things that we should be seeking after.

▶ 51:14 You know, even the spiritual gifts that’s spoke about in the New Testament are not about the person that has the gift. It’s for the common good of mankind. What about the fruit? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Do you know the fruit ain’t for the tree? You know that when you see apples on a tree, is the apples for the tree? No. It’s for everybody else. James 1:27. I hope I’m painting a picture for you now. I hope you get to see it clear religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this to look after orphans and widows in their distress. And let’s don’t forget this part.

▶ 52:06 And to keep oneself from being polluted by the world or stained by the world. You have got to keep yourself clean while you help other people. You know, people have asked, we’ve had people say to us, “We adopted the first three children. We’ve got two girls at this point, our biological daughters, and we adopted the first three kids, and it was rough, people. I’m just going to be honest with you. We They are still probably the most problematic that we have, okay? But yet, we did it. We fought the fight. We made it through it and then two others come up, you know, and and so on and so forth. But somebody said to us, “Why do y’all keep torturing yourselves? Why are you doing that to yourself?” We’re like, “Why don’t you worry about your business and you let me do what God told me to do, and I’ll let I’ll let him deal with you later, and he can deal with me according to what I did when he told me to.” Amen.

▶ 53:07 Okay. And so, uh, y’all know why I have authority to preach this message. You know, if you’re not doing something you’re trying to preach, you ain’t got no authority to preach it. Okay? But when you’re walking it out and you’re doing it, there’s a boldness with the authority that the Lord Jesus Christ has given me to speak what I’m speaking to you today because I know it to be true. You see, I I I shared with with with brother Michael, I believe, that after we had been at New Life Church for maybe two years, maybe we’re just bringing people in left and right, and we don’t even realize we’re doing it. Now, did they stay? No. No, they didn’t stay. Many of them didn’t stay. That’s not the point. It’s not my job to make them drink the water. It’s my job to get them to the water. Okay? That’s my job.

▶ 53:58 It’s my job to present the gospel to you, to present life to you. If you choose it, that’s up to you. But I have a responsibility to get you there or to get it to you, whatever that looks like. And and the pastor’s wife said, “Do y’all mind getting up Sunday and sharing how y’all get so many people to church?” And we looked at each other. “Do we do that? This is just who we became. It came up inside of me. The Lord picked me up out of a pile of garbage and filth and disaster and I need to go tell somebody what he did. It was automatic for me. You know, boy, she mentioned something, too. Woo! I feel my face getting red. When we think about people that don’t know they’re lost, you know, act people like lo act lost.

▶ 54:53 But, you know, there’s people that are in church. There’s people that have religious experiences that are not surrendered to Jesus. And those are the hardest people on the planet to reach. They might even be living in a nice house and driving a decent car, you know. And I can think of a few people specifically that I have prayed for for years. And one of them finally came and I’m like, “Oh, praise God. Praise God.” But but it’s so hard to break that off of someone that’s living a decent life, the American dream. They’re miserable inside. In Matthew 5:46, these are just quick ones. Surely we know this.

▶ 55:43 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? You know, some of the most lost people in the world love their children in a worldly love. And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing anymore than others? Don’t even the non-believers do that? And in Luke 6:32, there it is again. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Big deal. Even sinners love those who love them. In Mark 10 uh 42. Well, they on point, ain’t they? Amen. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them and their high officials exercise authority over them.” And he’s speaking to his disciples and he said, “Not so with you.

▶ 56:46 Instead, whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant.” So all so much for being all prideful. So much for being all about yourself. So much for being full of pride because humble servants can’t be full of pride. All of the sudden you got to have somebody else’s interest above yours. Right? I’m thinking about some verses over there that says love keeps no record of wrongs. Does not seek its own. Come on now. Always about others. Will you put that picture up there for me, please? I want y’all to look close at that.

▶ 57:44 Don’t say you’re not guilty of this before. So, this man is drowning in his life and his misery. Let me get back in front of this camera. This man is drowning in his life and his misery and a man that should have the answers says, “Dude, just pray about it. It’ll be all right.” No. We ought to reach down and give the man a hand and begin to do whatever the Lord’s called us to do and be the hands and feet of Jesus, right? Is that not what we should do? So your obedience and your surrender and your power to obey was made for this to actually do something. It ain’t just for you.

▶ 58:36 And you see what begin to happen is we when we begin to love folks, we begin to get in the middle of their mess with them, get down in the in the in the pile of garbage with them and grind with them and and and and get down there and fight with them and love them and help them through things. You know what? All this sudden they said, “Those people over there help you. You need to go see them.” And you know, it became we got this reputation after you helped so many people. Listen, there’s limits. You’ve got to do this by the Holy Spirit. You can’t just give everybody that ask you. It’s got to be led by people that are in that place that they need it. It’s got to be by the Holy Spirit. But that’s where the power is. And then when you become known for that, they won’t call you when they’re all up and high and mighty and high and everything’s going great.

How do we bring people to Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (59:29)

Short answer: Like the friends who lowered the paralytic in Capernaum, offering hospitality and using gifts, like the Good Samaritan.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Guest speaker (Freedom House ministry; name not stated)

▶ 59:29 Is when everything falls apart and they get down to the bottom of the barrel and they get a humble heart. They say, “Hey, I know somebody that’ll help me. They’ve been helping those other people. Let me call them.” And you know what happens? Church grows. You know what happens? They come in. They’re like, “Those people are helping me. I don’t know where they’re going or what they’re doing, but I want what they got.” That’s what she was talking about the other day. I don’t know what it is you got, but I want that. I don’t see you over there raising hell and fighting and throwing stuff at each other anymore. I see peace in your family. I see your kids obedient at the at the dinner table. I see things happening in your life. I see your kids are not off a mess like everybody else’s. That’s right. You know why? Because we’re holding the standard. Because we’re loving. Because we’re doing everything we can to be right with Jesus. And we just don’t just talk about it.

▶ 1:00:22 We actually do it. So, I want to give you a few examples in the word of God of somebody that did something that actually cost them something. Do y’all know that when in the Old Testament, you weren’t allowed to bring the old broke leg lamb up there for a sacrifice? You weren’t allowed to bring the one up there that had a bad eye, the one you didn’t care about. Are y’all tracking with me? So, if it wasn’t going to cost you nothing, you might as well keep it. Y’all understand that, right? It’s a depiction of your heart. Here’s a great saying for you guys. Do you trust God enough to obey him? I want you to ask yourself that. This is not some cliche saying. Do you trust God enough to obey him through everything he gives you to do?

▶ 1:01:19 If I do this, even though it looks like it’s about to cost me everything, if I do this, will he handle my business? I’m here to tell you today, he will. He will. I’ve seen it happen too many times. I’ve stuck myself out on a limb too many times going, “Lord, I don’t know how you’re going to do this.” I have got miracle after miracle after miracle story that I can tell you. I’m needing one right now in my finances from the way that things have unfolded with Freedom House. And I know the Lord’s going to do it. I know he is. He’s never failed me the first time. He’s going to do it. So in Mark chapter 2 starting in verse one, I would like to tell you in this right here in this I’m going to read it to you and then I’m going to reference what I’m trying to say to you.

▶ 1:02:19 A few days later when Jesus again entered Capernaum the people heard that he had he had come home then ga they gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left not even outside the door he had and he preached the word to them. Some men came, remember that, bringing a paralyzed man carried by four of them. Since they could not get to him, get to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof and they lowered him down. Okay? Jesus forgave him, right? Jesus healed him. How did he get there? Four other men brought him. Four other men brought him. Y’all got that? Okay. It wasn’t him. In First Kings when don’t I I did not give you this scripture on purpose.

▶ 1:03:11 I’m just going to reference it. First Kings chapter 17:7. This is where we get the story of of Elijah in the widow when he comes to her and and and the widow only has enough oil and she’s fixing to go home and make the cakes and her and her son’s going to die after they eat it. And because she gave up the only thing she had, God sustained their life. It cost her something to make that flower and that cake for Elijah. But you know the w the oil never ran out and it kept going. You know the story, right? If you don’t there, you can believe me. You can trust me. Not go back read it. First Kings 17:7. Then how about the lady in Mark with the with the two mites or the two minus the little lady that gave her offering that how the rich people were giving in their money. And it says they were given great amounts, but that lady came in and put her two little coins in there. And it said, “I tell you, she gave more than everybody else because she gave all that she had.” And there’s a there’s some other verses that I don’t have here because I took a lot out, but uh it says to use whatever gift you have.

▶ 1:04:15 Basically, here’s the point. Whatever it is you’ve been given. Oh, that brother K, I’ve never heard that that that uh that perspective before, but we were talking about being perfect. He was talking about how the seed has everything it needs when it comes up and and how you are right now exactly uh prepared. You have what you need to do what God’s called you to do because he didn’t call you to do it without giving you the tools, right? So you use whatever he’s giving you. You know, somebody had to tell me I was evangelist, too. I didn’t know that. Somebody called me an evangelist one day and I said, “Oh, I didn’t know that either.” Anyway, because it just came out of me. 1 Peter chapter 4, starting in verse 8. Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins.

▶ 1:05:13 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use there it is. Whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength that God provides. So then all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and power forever. Amen. First John chapter 3 verse 16. I’m getting close. I don’t know how I’m doing on time, but I’m getting close. This is how we know what love is. Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.

▶ 1:06:07 And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need, but has no pity in them, how can the love of God be in them? Wow. Last scripture, I think. Luke 10:25. I don’t see nobody running me off the stage up here or whatever. I’m standing on. I guess I’m doing good. So, this is such a depiction of Jesus is addressing religious people here too. On one occasion, an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. Teacher, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

▶ 1:06:59 What is written in the law? He replied, how do you read it? He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and all your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you’ll live.” But he wanted to justify himself. So he asked Jesus, “Okay, well, who’s my neighbor?” In reply, Jesus said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and when he was attacked by robbers, they stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.” So to a Levite, so a priest, a Levite when he came to the place and saw him pass by on the other side, but some old Samaritan, somebody that the Jews didn’t like, as he traveled, came where the man was, and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

▶ 1:08:11 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two dinari and gave them to the inkeeper. Look after him, he said. And when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? The expert in the law replied, “Well, the one who had mercy, he said,”All right, well, you go be like him. Go do what he did.” I believe this, you know, I never really understood it completely, but I believe this is in here as a depiction of some of us that are on our high horse sometimes and we think we’re above helping people. Okay? I just want y’all to know, and there’s one more, one more verse here.

▶ 1:09:04 Romans 12:3. And this is such a depiction of that. I think I gave him this verse. For by the grace given me, I say to every one of you, do not think of yourself more highly than you ought to. Don’t y’all know this is what it is? What keeps us from helping folks? I’m better than that. I’m better than them. But rather think of yourself with sober judgment in accordance with the faith God has distributed to you. So how do many how do how do people keep showing up? How does it keep happening? How does the church grow? Are they do they all stay?

▶ 1:09:56 My wife said this morning, you know, a lot of those people that came during that time, they’re not even here. I said, I know, baby. I don’t have any control over that. But I know we drew them. I know we drew them. Once again, you cannot love God without loving people. Did anybody see in here anywhere where it said it’s okay to be worried about your self-image, pride, what people think about us? I’m embarrassed. What will people think? We prove we love people by our service. That’s how we prove it. Better yet, we prove we love God by our service. It doesn’t even matter if you’re the pastor of the church, what position you have.

What is the call?

▶ Watch this part (1:10:49)

Short answer: Be personally involved in people’s lives; come to the altar, surrender, and pray.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Guest speaker (Freedom House ministry; name not stated)

▶ 1:10:49 If you’re not in the lives of people, if you’re not personally involved in the lives of people, I think we’re missing it as a church. And by the way, I’d like for you to know I preached something very similar to this at our home church. Okay? This wasn’t just about you. It’s about God’s people. And uh I see my brother here behind me. I got some more, but I’m going to stop. And would it be okay if you with gave an invitation? That’d be all right. Will y’all stand up with me? Sister, would you come put these pads out? I expect Yeah, you I know you’re the one that’s been doing it, I guess.

▶ 1:11:45 Now, listen. I know some of the things I said may have been hard to receive over the last few meetings for some of us. I don’t know. But I brought to you exactly what the Holy Spirit told me to bring. And some of you in this room right now know that you have been missing it in many different ways. Okay? And I’m asking you this morning, will you set your pride aside? Will you set your self-image by the wayside this morning? Will you come to the altar of God and ask him to help you? Ask him to forgive us all where we’ve missed it this morning. Will you come?

▶ 1:12:38 Will you be honest with yourself this morning and call the sin in your life sin instead of hiding it? Will you? Is today a day where we lay it all down and we say, “Lord, we know we’ve been missing it, but I’m sick of missing it. I just want to be right with you, God.” I feel the Holy Ghost up here this morning. I want you to know everything you have need of if you’ll set your pride aside, is available at this altar today. I my wife, any other leaders here, I don’t know. We’ll be glad to pray with you. I’m just asking you to be honest with yourself this morning. It’s a great day to get it right with King Jesus.

▶ 1:13:31 Amen. Oh, come to the altar. The Father’s arms are open wide. Was born. Jesus Christ. Away. [music and singing] Jesus is calling to the end of yourself.

▶ 1:14:31 Jesus also. Leave behind your [music and singing] regrets and mistakes. There’s no reason to wait. Jesus is Heat.

▶ 1:15:30 Heat. [music and singing] The father’s arms are for the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Heat. Heat. Yeah.

▶ 1:16:34 Heat. Heat. Heat. Was bought with the preious blood of Jesus Christ. Heat.

▶ 1:17:27 Heat. Yeah. [singing Heat. And music] Hallelujah. Christ is to [music and singing] the river. I am free.

▶ 1:18:27 Heat. Heat. Heat [music and singing] up here. Heat up here.

▶ 1:19:41 Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:20:50 Heat. Heat. Heat. [music and singing] I cannot bear. For those who have never accepted Christ, we want to create an opportunity right now for you. In the scriptures, it says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That’s every one of us. In Romans 6:23, it says, “For the wages of sin is death [singing and music] and hell.” And we don’t want that. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. What we’ve been talking about today. So if you’ve never accepted Christ, it says in First John 1:9, if we confess with our mouth, he’s faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

▶ 1:21:50 With our heads bowed, our eyes closed, I want to give you an opportunity to invite him into your life, to accept him in your life. If you’d like to do that, just pray and say, “Lord Jesus, I confess. I admit I have sinned against you. I invite you to come into my life. I invite you, Jesus, to come and make me a new creation. Lord God, I I pray that I that you would give me new desires, new goals. Lord God, I pray [music and singing] and I ask for your cleansing in my life, my cleansing from my sin. Thank you, Jesus. And that is the first step of accepting Christ. But also, we’d like to invite you right now to come forward as a response.

▶ 1:22:42 If you want more of God, if you want more commitment to him, let’s take some time here. Let’s take some time to respond to God. Come before him. Use your own words and commit it to him. Say, “Lord God, I want this new way in my life. I want to have this new way. I want to set aside the old stuff. I want to set aside that pile of of hope that I think is so important. I want to come before you and have you follow you and respond. Get out of your chair. Come forward. Stand where you’re at. Take this opportunity. Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:23:39 [music and singing]. To be now for us Christians, for folks that are already Christians, Christ has promised up us a new covenant. This new covenant power that we can have. A new heart, a new spirit put into us to be caused to walk in his ways, to know him. That’s for every person in [music and singing] this room. If you are a Christian today, if you don’t have these things, we need to come forward and ask God for them. We need to come unto him and ask God for them.

▶ 1:24:35 We need to ask God for these things to the river. I am going bringing sins I cannot bear. Come and change me. Come for me, Lord. I need to meet [music and singing] you there. Precious [singing and music] Jesus, I am ready to surrender every care.

▶ 1:25:35 Take my hand. [music and singing] Lead me closer. Lord, I need to meet you there. Scriptures say, “What good is it to gain the whole world but lose your own soul?” This morning, we got to make sure our commitment, our focus is fully surrendered unto Christ. We want to make sure when we go out of this building, we’ve left that old stuff behind. We want to make sure when we go out of this building that we are wholly devoted to him. If you’re not at that place, this is an opportunity to respond. It’s an opportunity to say, “Yes, Jesus, I want you. Yes, Jesus, I’m going to follow you. Take my hand.

▶ 1:26:45 Lord, I need to meet you there. Take my hand now. Lead me closer. Lord, I need to meet you there. Are we sure? Are we sure this morning? Some of you back there with your heart beating about 200 miles an hour when I started making that article, when I said, “Why don’t we just be honest this morning and call the sin in our life sin?” Why don’t we just be honest and know that when we’re not right with the Lord? Cuz you know the only thing that’ll keep you from coming down here is that old puffed up pride. We know that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble, right?

▶ 1:27:41 The humble and the lowly. The ones that are like, here’s, for lack of a better word, you know, we go to this other church sometimes and this guy said, you know, the program people go straight up to the altar and they start worshiping and the people from the church, they sit down. He said, ‘You know, that’s why I like going to recovery programs to preach. At least them people know they jacked up. We know we need Jesus. Amen. So, I’d just like to give one last call. Is there anybody out there that knows you should have came this morning? I came about 2,000 miles for this and I’m going home in the morning to my babies, but I’m still here now. Amen. The spirit of God is still here. Amen. Thank y’all so much.

▶ 1:28:43 Precious Jesus, I am ready to surrender every care. Take my hand now. Lead me closer. Lord, I need to meet you there. Jesus. Jesus. It’s too long. Me closer.

▶ 1:29:57 I need I am ready to surrender every care. Take my hand now. Lead me closer, Lord. I need to meet you there. Take me [music and singing] to meet you here.

▶ 1:30:53 Those [music and singing] four men, the others that we don’t even know their name. We don’t know their names. We probably know know other names of people that brought people to Jesus. Powerful. And us Christians that have been Christians for years, we we got to hear that, you know, it’s not about some title. It’s not about you having some position. Can you bring someone to Jesus that is stirring? And right now, we need to commit ourselves to a new direction in our lives. Uh he said there every one of us has a gift that we can use to bring people to Christ.

▶ 1:31:50 And right now as Christians we need to lift up our voices and pray. Commit unto that and follow that. Let’s lift up our voices. God we submit unto that right now. Lord God as it says submit ourselves unto you Lord Jesus. God we pray that you would stir up that gift that is within us Lord Jesus. More like you did for Timothy. Lord God, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, please. Lord, we pray, we pray, oh God, for a new commitment in our soul and our spirit deep within us. God, we pray that we would obey and and become so sold out for getting and reaching people. Lord, not just concerned about what’s going on in the church, not just concerned about what’s in our home, God. Oh God, please teach us. Teach us, oh Lord.

▶ 1:32:42 Teach us, oh God. Lord, give us an opportunity, God, put in us a new desire in our hearts. Jesus, please, we pray, oh God. Jesus, please, oh Lord. There’s a song that stirs the spirit and it calls the heart to love. It’s an anthem in the making. Can you feel it start to rise? [music. And Heat.

▶ 1:33:33 Singing] Heat. Yeah. Heat. [music. And Heat. Singing] Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:34:43 Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:35:53 Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:36:46 Heat. Don’t you dare hide your light. There’s a world outside your window. So don’t let it pass you by. Lift your hands to the heavens. Lift your voice to the sky. Praise the Lord of all creation. Heat up here. It’s not to be silent.

▶ 1:37:50 Don’t you, so don’t let him pass you by. [music Lift your and hands singing] to the heavens. Lift your voice to the sky. Praise the Lord all creation. Let his name be lifted high. Heat.

▶ 1:38:53 Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.

▶ 1:39:50 [music and singing] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [music and singing].

▶ 1:40:46 [music and singing]. Heat. Heat. Jesus. I am free. I am free. I kingom come. Oh yeah. You the battle won. You are not afraid. You the price is paid. To you there’s victory in my heart. I am [singing and music] free.

▶ 1:41:50 Yeah. Heat. Their heads bowed, eyes closed. As they keep playing, if you want to just thank Jesus, just in a couple words, just say, “Thank you, Jesus.” Where you’re at, lift up your voice. Amen.

▶ 1:43:09 Amen. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Amen. And I invite Mr. Ker to come and pray. Just shut the music off.

▶ 1:45:02 Don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, a fresh thing. And the old thing is fresh when God is in it. Can I hear an amen? We’re not looking for a new prophecy somewhere. The old prophecies are new and fresh when we get with the program. Remember not the former things. Don’t consider the things of old. Why? Behold, I the Lord will do a new fresh thing. And what fresh thing will he do? I will make a road in the wilderness, a highway in the desert to give drink to my people, my chosen.

▶ 1:45:55 And they shall show forth my praise. That’s what these people were doing here a while ago. His people, he’s chosen, drinking of the river of the spirit of life, the word of life. And they were praising their God for that river. Amen. The prophet also said, “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed.” I saw a lot of you not responding and you don’t have the glory and you don’t care if you have the glory. You’re just interested in raising kids, working and and doing your daily stuff, which is scriptural.

▶ 1:46:49 I had to raise a family. I had to work. But I had to preach the gospel and love people in a genuineess, not mechanics. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed in all flesh. How many of you here are not in a body of flesh? I didn’t think so. All flesh shall see it together. If you’re here and you’re in a body of flesh, God’s talking to you. All flesh shall see it together. It’s not for the ministers. It’s not for the song leaders. It’s not for the evangelists and the pastors and the teachers.

▶ 1:47:42 It’s for all of us. All of us. So see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. Not the preacher. He gave you what God said. God said it. And he uses the foolishness of preaching to get his word out. I’m going to challenge you again. Do you want to say just a normal pathetic Christian or do you want the glory today? All right. If you want the glory, raise your hand.

▶ 1:48:36 Not both of them. One. Raise your hand at singular. Secondly, are you willing to do something about it by seeking him, following him, and obeying him? Raise the other hand. Now, we should have two hands. Everybody is seeing it. They are witnesses that you’re going to change things in your life. Thus sayith the Lord, and let it be. Amen. We got to remember that tomorrow, this week, the next time we gather together.

▶ 1:49:29 Amen. You put your hands up. So next week and when I see you again, we’re you’re g you should be kicking my tail. Hey, we want the glory, buddy. Right. Hey, when you go home, kick the kick something. I want the glory. Get out of my way. Amen. I invite Mr. Barnes to pray in closing. Yes, Mr. Barnes. Let’s pray. Father, we appreciate your presence, but we appreciate your glory to come over our lives.

▶ 1:50:22 Lord, help us to remember all the words that was spoken this weekend. Help us not to go out and just be believers, but help us to be disciples, followers of Christ. Help us to walk in truth. Help us to walk in the anointing. Help us to walk in the spirit. God, take these words and burn them in our hearts. You said with the new covenant, you would burn these in our heart, in our mind. Father, burn them today. Lord Jesus, we thank you for everything. Let this not to be the end, but let this be the beginning of a thing that you want to do, a new thing. Lord Jesus, we ask you to stir and move in Jesus’ name.

▶ 1:51:16 Amen. All right. So, we’ve been doing a question and answer time.
