From the sermonEternal Life Clarified · Pastor David G. Kincer▶ 0:00

Pastor David G. Kincer teaches that eternal life is knowing God and Jesus Christ, illustrated by his father’s hunting and Job’s knowledge of his Redeemer. Through the lawyer and the Good Samaritan and the rich young ruler who lacked one commandment—covetousness—he shows eternal life involves action, and warns that searching the scriptures without coming to Jesus is not life.

Do you need to understand everything for it to work?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: His father, a coal miner who hunted to feed the family, never missed with a gun he couldn’t explain, while educated engineers couldn’t hit anything with it. You don’t have to understand everything to get results; people know what you believe by what you do.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 0:00 Then he had to walk back up that holler. We call them hollers down there. You guys called him hollows and back home where my mom of course she got up with him fixed him a coal-mining breakfast my mom worked all day clean clothes cleaning houses and everything else we made I had a dirt floor let me tell you the cleanest dirt floor you ever seen all right we were poor we were poor [unclear] pork and beans and. we were poor people all right there’s nothing wrong with being poor because I had good parents and I would rather have my parents in any rich town because they were good that’s a fact. Anyway on Saturday after doing this all week on Saturday he would get up before dawn and go hunting he hunted for real he didn’t hunt for sport he hunted to feed his family and he.

▶ 1:05 Would take this gun and a shotgun with one of his brothers it was in the second world war came home with a german 12 gauge double barrel shotgun they both had straps on him and he would go hunting and he would shoot the small prey with his shotgun and the big prey with this thing now my dad did not know what kind of metal this gun was made up he could not tell you the mechanism. That would shoot this bullet and eject one automatically and put one back in the chamber he couldn’t tell you anything about he couldn’t tell you what kind of wood this was. But he never missed I mean him and my other uncles could shoot the top of a pine tree out one shot I don’t care if it was 300 yards away or 30 feet away they could see a pop bottle on the ground and shoot that pop bottle or popcap that lid and if you think that’s easy you type 20 feet away you try hit a bottle cap and then you try to shoot and these engineers would come down you know they left and came back all educated and they had the physics of ballistics they knew what this showed the projectile they knew all that stuff they knew what this gun was made out of but when they put this gun in their hands they couldn’t hit the backs out of a barn.

▶ 2:36 They had all the knowledge but they couldn’t use it are you hearing me now my dad never run around saying I got faith in this gun I got faith in this gun I believe in this gun. We knew he believed in the gun and we knew he had faith in the gun because he brought home food it worked are you isn’t it you don’t have to understand everything to use something and get results from it and you don’t have to go around say and I believe in God I believe in God I believe in to you I believe in you I believe engineers trying to convince everybody you’re a believer they will know about what you do my dad went hunting and came back with results we knew what he believed in we knew this thing worked are you isn’t it.

What is eternal life?

▶ Watch this part (3:37)

Short answer: Eternal life is knowing God and Jesus Christ (John 17:3); living forever is a subtopic. Knowing him is the key—“I don’t have to defend the Bible” when I know him and follow him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 3:37 And that’s the way it is with God. Eternal life is knowing Jesus Christ and most people do not know that the Bible definition of Jesus Christ living forever ever is just a subtopic. Knowing him is the key are you with me hallelujah. My son Jordan was going to a conference this weekend and I looked at the titles and almost every title was apologetics defense of the Bible I don’t have to defend the Bible. Like this gun I don’t have to know every jot and tittle of that Bible when I know him and follow him I know it works are you there I know it works.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 17:3 (NKJV)

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

— John 17:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:42 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

How did Job know God without the Pentateuch?

▶ Watch this part (4:32)

Short answer: Job 19:25–27: I know my redeemer lives, he shall stand at last on the earth, and in my flesh I shall see God. Job knew the Redeemer, the second coming and the resurrection—and had a relationship with God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 4:32 How did Job possess knowledge of God. Without apologetic books or the Pentateuch. Job lived at the just after Abraham the Pentateuch wasn’t written yet the law hadn’t come yet are you with me. How did Job get such knowledge how did he know these truths when he had no apologetic books to read he didn’t even have the Pentateuch to read are you with me. Job 19:25 I know. My redeemer lives who’s the redeemer Jesus he knew Jesus. this is eternal life that you might know God and Jesus Christ in that right.

▶ 5:29 Did Job have eternal life. From the Bible definition he knew the redeemer and that’s what I keep tellin atheist I met the man I know he’s real he’s as real as you and me except he is invisible. Alleluia I don’t have to explain never detail even though I can I don’t have to explain every jot and tittle because it works that’s what makes the Bible real that’s what makes Jesus real because it works alleluia. The redeemer shall stand at last on the earth he knows there’s the second coming of Christ how did he know that back then seventeen hundred or so years before a lot.

▶ 6:26 Of us a day don’t even believe it we got the book because we’re too much into the details how’s this thing made how does it work I’ll get into every [unclear] thing. And he knew about the second return of Christ he will stand at the last the end time on the earth after my skin is destroyed after my [unclear] and my body rots away in my flesh I will see God he knew there was going to be a resurrection. [unclear] that’s the first five books of the Bible Genesis Exodus Leviticus Numbers and Deuteronomy he didn’t have it yet. Are you with me. In my flesh my body is going to come out of their grave and I’m going to see God in my body [unclear].

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Job 19:25-27 (NKJV)

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

— Job 19:25-27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:32

Can too much study distract us?

▶ Watch this part (7:22)

Short answer: Ecclesiastes 12:12: of making many books there is no end. Too much intellect distracts from the reality of God; when you know his nature, you know when something isn’t of him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 7:22 Now my son is spending a whole weekend trying to get people or people are going to try to get him to understand the jot and tittle how this thing works but when you know him you know his nature you know what he’s like and you may not be able to explain everything but you know when something is wrong it’s not his nature. Amen. Whom I will see for myself my eyes shall behold and not another my heart yearns within me he has a relationship with his God. Way before Christ came didn’t have all these books. Proverb says that the making many books there is no end and in much wisdom as much sorrow you get into too much intellect it distracts you from the reality of God.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NKJV)

And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.

— Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:14 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Why did the lawyer question Jesus?

▶ Watch this part (8:25)

Short answer: Luke 10:25: to test and trap him, not to change. Atheists do that too—turn them back to the cross; the gospel of his death, burial and resurrection is the power of God unto salvation.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 8:25 Can I hear an amen. Now. Jesus is going to clarify a stronghold argument against the knowledge of God and that they’ve distorted on eternal life okay remember the strongholds is the arguments against the knowledge of God they think they’re so right but they’re not agreeing with God and those spiritual weapons will tear that down are you with me now let’s look at this Luke 10:25 we’re going to go there you picture the story Jesus is out with the crowd and this scribe this lawyer came up he is an Old Testament law expert he’s an expert in the Pentateuch of Moses Genesis Exodus Leviticus Numbers and Deuteronomy and he.

▶ 9:25 Asked he’s asking Jesus a question to what test him he’s not he does not have a desire to change he has no purpose to change his opinion he’s just trying to trap Jesus so he asked the question to trap him the atheists do that all the time they they take things out of the Bible trying to trap us and me I just turned them right back to the cross. Amen. Salvation is in who Jesus and what is the power of God unto salvation the preaching of the gospel his death burial and resurrection I don’t have to go any further if they don’t want Christ I’m not messing with them I will tell them this I will answer all your questions and I can if you let me tell you about Jesus if they’re really desirous they’ll say ok and I can give them the gospel story and I can challenge them to accept Christ repent of their sins and be forgiven and when I’m done I can answer their questions now when I was young I couldn’t I gotta do is write them down and go home and find answer that question so the next time I was ready I with me but I didn’t have to know what I know today to lead people to Christ.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 10:25 (NKJV)

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

— Luke 10:25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:25
Scripture (NKJV)

Romans 1:16 (NKJV)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

— Romans 1:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:07 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

What did Jesus say to do?

▶ Watch this part (10:54)

Short answer: Luke 10:26–28: love God and your neighbor as yourself—“do this and you shall live.” Eternal life involves action, not just talk.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 10:54 You just stick with Jesus and the cross that’s all you need can I hear an amen. The wicked are going to go to hell the righteous are going to go to heaven I mean that’s the gospel that should shake us up now. And he’s also asking this question to justify his own opinion to make him look right you see and that’s what a lot of this stuff is don’t fall into that trap. And he says master what shall I what do to inherit eternal life he didn’t say what shall I believe he didn’t say what shall I have faith in he said what [unclear] he said what is written in the law what does the Bible say.

▶ 11:49 [unclear] eternal life just doesn’t say it anyway. You got it there’s no direct statement it’s implied but it’s not direct now God is loving God is it’s all over the place if you love me and keep my commandments you shall live if you love me and keep my commandments you said it’s all through the law all right and of course keeping the commandments loving your neighbor is one of the commandments right oh. He didn’t say the shadow law. He didn’t say the wise laws wise laws are you know save up the fool spends all he’s got but the wise men saved his money the sluggard has nothing to eat the lazy guy but the diligent has food see that’s wisdom that’s the wise laws he didn’t talk about spiritual laws the first four of the ten commandments he didn’t talk about.

▶ 12:52 God. Idols taking the name of the Lord thy God in vain and the Sabbath day he didn’t mention those he mentioned the loving God and loving your neighbors yourself the civil laws and Jesus says what you are correct. What’s the what’s the action word do this and you shall live you love your neighbor don’t just talk about it and love God just don’t talk about it and you will have eternal life is. There an action involved in eternal life absolutely. Absolutely. So to justify himself this is what the debaters do they try to because they want to make themself look if they’re losing the debate they want to make himself look good so he says to justify himself well who’s my neighbor and I look at all these people around here who’s my name and then.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 10:26-28 (NKJV)

He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”

— Luke 10:26-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:16 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Who is my neighbor?

▶ Watch this part (13:56)

Short answer: Luke 10:30–37: a priest and Levite passed by; a hated Samaritan bound the man’s wounds and paid at the inn. The neighbor was the one who showed mercy—go and do likewise.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 13:56 He’s going to define what a neighbor is. When you get the Bible definitions of things you get tremendous understanding he’s going to define the neighbor he tells a story about a guy being beaten and robbed by thieves and left along the road to die a priest come by and walked on the other side of the road. Levite came by and he walked on the other side of the road now before you condemn them remember if they were going to the temple to minister they could not be defiled and all that stuff so let’s be a little lenient here a Samaritan come along who the Jews hate the Jews hate Samaritans why because the king of Assyria had brought in this another cultural of people from another nation and set him in the people of God’s nations and these Samaritans which they become known as [unclear] mixed.

▶ 15:04 The Jewish the the Bible God that the Bible way to serve God with their own way they combine them all right and so the Jews hated them they would have nothing to do with him and the Samaritan comes along and he’s hated but this do and he knows he’s hated by this Jew and that hatred of that Jew did not stop the Samaritan from helping this guy out binding up his wounds taken into an inn paying for the upkeep of the end and telling them that when he comes back you’ll pay anymore if the bill goes over higher are you there the guy that hated him is who the Samaritan. Helped. Hallelujah now folks.

▶ 15:59 That’s real christianity. you don’t sit there boohoo but you can treat others that even don’t like you in their time of need and help them that’s real christianity are you with me so Jesus asked him. Who is the neighbor to that guy that was robbed and they said the one that showed mercy the Samaritan and they Jesus says yes the one who showed mercy you go and what. Do action likewise even if they hate you and they’re in need you show mercy you become their neighbor and your to love those who show mercy to you.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 10:30-37 (NKJV)

Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

— Luke 10:30-37 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:40 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Who is our closest neighbor?

▶ Watch this part (16:58)

Short answer: Jesus, with his great mercy. The lawyer knew how to get eternal life but wasn’t doing it—he wasn’t loving his neighbor or God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 16:58 not the [unclear] folks. Are you there these need to be punished they need to be corrected but you show mercy to those that show compassion that’s your neighbor it’s not the guy lives beside you it’s not the guy you worked beside you it’s the one who has shown compassion and mercy to you alleluia and who is our closest neighbor then. Jesus of course his great mercy oh yeah. Are you there. Alleluia it is a good illustration of eternal life and the stronghold of arguing against the knowledge of God see this guy knew how to get eternal life but he didn’t do it he wasn’t doing it.

What did Jesus tell the rich young ruler?

▶ Watch this part (17:59)

Short answer: Luke 18:18–20: keep the commandments—no adultery, murder, stealing, false witness; honor your parents, love your neighbor; and he adds do not defraud, from the holiness laws of Leviticus 19.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 17:59 He wasn’t loving his neighbor and he wasn’t loving God. Now Jesus is going to confront the strongholds of eternal life again the two strongholds our argument against knowledge of God and thoughts that does not come under to the obedience of God and and spiritual weapons bring these to pass so and Luke 18:18 a rich young ruler. Comes to Jesus and ask him good teacher [unclear] what shall I do to inherit eternal life again. It’s I do an action word correct. Of course Jesus said don’t call me good there’s none good but one that’s a God the father. That goes right along with all the sinned and come short of the glory of God right we know Jesus was God but Jesus is clarifying how all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God God is the perfect one then Jesus answered and said what keep the commandments.

▶ 19:12 He used the word he didn’t go to secular books and secular arguments and science argument see what went to the scriptures are you with me. Again. Keeping the commandments. Opposes no works and just faith only doesn’t it doesn’t. of course the rich young ruler said which commandments which one there’s a lot of commitments would you want that’s a good question you can narrow this thing down don’t be afraid to ask questions get things narrow down and Jesus replied no adultery sexual immorality no murder no stealing no false witness honor your parents and love your neighbors yourself and then he throws in this other commandment defraud defraud is in Leviticus 19 a list of the holiness laws.

▶ 20:21 Somebody told me that first Corinthians 11 was the holiness [unclear] you got it all wrong and it’s not the holiness chapter Leviticus 19 is the holiness chapter it tells you how to treat everybody. It says it’s the holiness first verse it says all right now what he did. Defraud by the way it needs to deceive swindle and cheat people alright. Got it I love your neighbor and defraud is in Leviticus 19 holiness chapter. All right it’s not part of the ten commandments so Jesus has listed five of the six neighbor laws that’s the last six laws of how you behave to those around you to human beings it’s human being to human being behavior the last six commandments is commandments about how you treat people got it he didn’t go to the first four about God he went to the last six about man-to-man people to people and he listed five of these laws and left.

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 18:18-20 (NKJV)

Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

— Leviticus 19:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:50 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Which commandment did Jesus leave out?

▶ Watch this part (21:44)

Short answer: Covetousness. Luke 18:21–23: “What lack I yet?” Jesus said sell all and follow me—he went away sad, for he had great riches. He coveted money.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 21:44 Out one he left out one law there six of them he did not use again the wise law the shadow law shadow law is incense my prayer become before thee is incense and you know where a certain clothing and eat certain foods those are shadow laws of truth to come and that’s the laws were not under by the way when Paul is talking about were not under those laws that’s the exact laws he’s talking about those shadow laws were fulfilled when Jesus came to earth are you anything and we keep them by following the truths of those laws now. Amen yeah they were examples of truth to come and he didn’t follow the spiritual laws prayer and you know the Sabbath day and tithing and fasting and all that didn’t use that or man’s laws of hair clothing jewelry alms food oh what kind of food that you shouldn’t eat that that’s not spiritual you know help the poor that spiritual he didn’t use any of those laws he used the five of the last six human to human behavior law is that clear I want to make sure that’s clear and he left out one wow.

▶ 23:05 One’s missing. And the guy says I’ve kept all of these if you listed from my childhood what lack I yet the guy knew what that he lacks something didn’t he why because eternal life is what knowing God and knowing Jesus and he knew he didn’t know him. He says I’ve kept these but what lack I yet. Wow are you interested. So Jesus said sell all that you have and give it to the poor. And what.

▶ 23:57 Follow me is follow an action is it an action yes who do we follow Jesus. If you want to be perfect if you want to be complete then sell all you have and follow me now where in the Bible does it say you got to sell all you have to have eternal life nowhere. So Jesus is setting this guy up. follow me is all throughout the Bible [unclear]. That’s the key. If you got this clear. he left sad because he had great riches what was left out of those six commandments was covetousness covet is a desire a desire he says don’t covet don’t desire your neighbor’s house your neighbor’s wife your neighbors animals his harvest field or and they don’t desire and what was this guy’s problem riches he desired he coveted money.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 18:21-23 (NKJV)

And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

— Luke 18:21-23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:15 (quoted; reference not named in the message)
Scripture (NKJV)

Exodus 20:17 (NKJV)

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

— Exodus 20:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 24:56 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Does it matter if we keep one sin?

▶ Watch this part (25:16)

Short answer: He tells of a man who repented of every sin but one and rejected correction. Don’t hold on to one; perfect means complete—growing to maturity as you follow Christ.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:16 Are you there see that’s what he lacked he lacked one law out of the six about four years ago there was a gentleman that came into our service and we had all to call at the end and he came up he was bawling I mean God was all over and he was crying and weeping and I went down there and as I do I have while you’re here all right I don’t just go hallelujah Lord blesses got no I want to know what is going on and so I asked me I have you been saved and even accepted Christ and all the rest and I let him to Christ and as he he has forgiveness for his sins and so forth and I mean God was just all over it I mean it was real meeting with God I he come back the next Sunday and he came back the next Sunday and then that last Sunday I mentioned that homosexuality was a sin that you go to hell for it after the service he come up looked me right in the face and said that’s a lie God made me this way I can’t change see he repented of every sin but one.

▶ 26:32 But one. Hey wat don’t let that one go just like this guy are you there [unclear] it only takes one sin to [unclear] yeah. And remember the word perfect is complete you know we’re babyhood childhood young adulthood we want to be complete want to grow to full maturity it’s not some who I can’t think any bad thought I can’t I can’t oh my God no no no don’t get on that guilt trip please as you follow God you will get complete a man. And and I brought that out because that word perfect when I was young Christian I thought man I’m doomed I like I love God and everything but I’m making a lot of mistakes but its completion you go on to maturity [unclear] all right if God was talking to other people say he rejected the offer to follow Christ that was his big problem and to.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

— Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:16 (quoted; reference not named in the message)

Is wealth the problem?

▶ Watch this part (27:42)

Short answer: No—like Job, being rich doesn’t keep you out of the kingdom; the love of money does. In John 5:18 the Jews sought to kill Jesus over their idea of the Sabbath.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 27:42 Follow Christ he had to give up just lusting after money if God asked him to give away those riches guess what God have done God would have done if he did give it right back time just like Job there’s nothing wrong with being rich it doesn’t keep you out of the kingdom but the love of money that’s it that’s covetousness all of it and now. you see [unclear] thinking. Every thought into the obedience of Christ arguments against the kingdom of the knowledge of God and thoughts to the obedience of Christ in John 5:18 the Jews sought to kill Jesus [unclear] for breaking their [unclear] they had their ideal of a Sabbath day and Jesus healed on the Sabbath day that’s [unclear].

▶ 28:44 And so they were angry at him for breaking their opinion of the Sabbath day and he said God was his father making himself equal with God and they didn’t like that and yet they believe the messiah was coming they believed all this stuff of when Jesus came they rejected him and I’m telling you when he comes the second time it’s going to be a lot different than all these stories you heard are you there. so if we go to Matthew 9:4 we have the same account but in Matthew 9:4 it says Jesus knowing their what thoughts he knew what they were thinking they wanted to kill him they didn’t like what he did on the Sabbath day he knew their thoughts their thoughts were not under the obedience of Christ.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV)

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

— 1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 28:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)
Scripture (NKJV)

John 5:18 (NKJV)

Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

— John 5:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:42

Is reading the Bible enough?

▶ Watch this part (29:43)

Short answer: John 5:38–40: you search the scriptures thinking you have eternal life, yet they testify of me and you won’t come to me. The only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 29:43 They wanted to kill him. So this is Jesus reply for you politically correct people you people that want everything said sweet so sweet Jesus is so sweet here you do not have his word abiding in you oh in that sweet doesn’t that just feel good to hear that oh we bond brother we bond you understand me you do not have the word abiding in you that’s not a sweet statement. Because whom God sent him you do not believe you’re looking for in the messiah and he here and you rejected so you don’t have the word of God in you. Are you there now did they know some scriptures yeah.

▶ 30:39 but they distorted them they twisted. Now. Then he says this powerful statement you searched the scriptures that testify of me does the scripture speak of Jesus from Genesis 1 to Revelation the last chapter absolutely he’s all the way through that Bible. for in them you think [unclear] to the obedience of Christ the other stronghold you think you have eternal life because you go to Bible studies and you read your Bible and you can quote John three sixteen and some other scriptures you think you have eternal life. You got it and you know these aren’t sweet words.

▶ 31:32 but how many know these are necessary words yes. But you are not willing to come to who me that you may have life eternal. Life is to know who God and Jesus Christ and you won’t come to me. You won’t follow me [unclear] the other one you won’t follow me follow me you’re you’re coming to Christ wherever he goes you’re following come and follows the same thing got it how many know the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. that refutes that all roads of religions lead to the same God doesn’t it only through Jesus Christ.

▶ 32:28 Can you know God and be saved and delivered from your sins that’s why when you are debating people stick to the cross stick to Jesus don’t let them get you distracted with all this nonsense can I hear an amen. Because the preaching of Christ will convict them if they can be convicted and respond a lot of people don’t want to give up their sin so they justify themselves. Hallelujah. So who is life and who’s eternal life in Jesus and folks when I got saved in that little Assembly of God church that had less than 100 people back there in the 60s.

▶ 33:18 Jesus met with me I had an experience with him [unclear] one week later I got baptized in water and he came to me again in that baptism but I didn’t understand what was going on and I was like that lady that chris talked about earlier and I all I could do was quiver and shake what’s going on but I loved it the power of his presence was wonderful and then one week after that I got filled with the Holy Ghost and that revolutionized my life okay and remember the full name of the Holy Ghost is [unclear] the Holy Ghost he is holy when you say you have the Holy Spirit and you’re living unholy you’re not living by the Holy Spirit amen. now what is the full name of the Holy Ghost.

▶ 34:15 The spirit of truth the Holy Ghost the spirit of what truth when you believe your opinions and you don’t believe the knowledge of God that’s not the spirit revealing that to you the spirit of truth can only reveal what truth. So don’t blame the Holy Ghost. Are you with me. We got to come to Christ folks that we might have life and the Holy Spirit the Bible says always. Talks about Jesus is always glorifying Jesus that’s the Holy Spirit’s goal is to bring you to Jesus and. expand you in Jesus [unclear] Jesus said I do not receive honor from men what did he say that because that’s exactly what these people were doing they had their little clique they all have believed the same thing and they’re all patting themselves on the back oh yeah yeah we’re the elite with a selectively likely yeah they’re they’re encouraging one another in their error and Jesus said I don’t I’m not here to make human beings agree with me I’m here to make human beings agree with the father and then.

▶ 35:35 I. Know you. Jesus said I know you [unclear]. You don’t have the love of God in you. I know that’s not sweet that’s not sweet at all well if you could put that gospel in a sweet way I could so I can hear it well I mean the gospel is what it says you’re going to go to hell if you do wickedly if if you haven’t believed on Jesus Christ you condemned already the Bible says if you reject Christ it doesn’t matter what else you do Christ is the key to this thing can I hear an amen I don’t care what people are telling you Christ is the key and you come to him he will not cast you away he will back up what he said as we heard in that prayer this morning amen he will back it up.

How do we show the love of God?

▶ Watch this part (36:36)

Short answer: 1 John 5:3: this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. Are we followers of Jesus, ready to be judged, or do our opinions make us reject him?

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 36:36 But you got to come to him and you got to come his way. First John 5:3 as the musicians come this is the love of God that we keep his commandments so what didn’t they have in them. Obedience. to Christ whose word. Every thought. Under the obedience of Christ and every argument against the knowledge of God so the question today is. Are we followers of Jesus. Are we ready to be judged by Jesus after we die or his second return one way or another you’re going to stand before him.

▶ 37:34 the second question is do we oppose [unclear] do we oppose the knowledge of God and reject obedience to Jesus Christ for our own opinion did you hear me does our own opinions cause us to reject Jesus Christ and the knowledge of God because it’s our opinion and we’re going to justify yourself to make our opinion look right. Do we have the love of God in us where we have a desire to keep his commandments and you know it takes time for a kid to grow they have a desire to obey their parents and be a good child but they make mistakes don’t they same way with us we got to have the desire to keep his commandments that comes from knowing him and this morning if you want to know him if you want to follow him.

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: Points to check: Job placed “just after Abraham” and “seventeen hundred or so years before”; Samaritans’ origin via the king of Assyria; “defraud” attributed to Luke 18 (it appears in Mark 10:19); “Matthew 9:4” cited as the same account as John 5:18; Leviticus 19 vs. 1 Corinthians 11 as the holiness chapter. Sensitive content kept as spoken: a man told homosexuality is a sin “you go to hell for” who said God made him that way (repented of every sin but one); “I know you [unclear], you don’t have the love of God in you”; all roads of religions refuted.
