▶ 0:06 Scene one, the judgement seat before a large crowd in Jerusalem. Jesus stands bound and scourged before Pilate. Pilate questioned Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered that his kingdom is not of this world. Pilate declared to the crowd that he found no guilt in him. Whom shall I release? Barabbas the bandit or Jesus called the Christ? Barabbas! Barabbas! What shall I do with Jesus? Crucify him! Crucify him! Pilate asked what evil he had done, but they shouted louder. The crowd cried out again for crucifixion. Pilate said he found no guilt, but they insisted he must die.

▶ 0:58 Behold your king. Crucify him! Away with Shall I crucify your king? We have no king BUT Caesar. Pilate washed his hands before the crowd. I am innocent of this man’s blood. In Matthew 27, it says a whole band of soldiers, 600, scourged Jesus with cat of nine tails, which ripped the flesh from Jesus. They drove a crown of thorns in his head. They spat on him and mocked him.

▶ 1:54 They plucked his beard. They beat his head with a staff. They delivered him to be crucified. After this torture, it says in Isaiah 52:14, “His face and his whole appearance were marred, disfigured more than any man’s, and his form beyond that of the sons of men.” Jesus was naked on the cross. He endured the embarrassment, the shame for you and me. In 1 Peter 2:22, says that Jesus did not sin in his life. Pilate confirms this when he said, “I find no fault in him.” And Isaiah 53:4, “Surely he was born for our griefs and carried our sorrows, but he was wounded for our transgressions.
