After worship and prayer, the message teaches that you don’t have to wait forever for deliverance. From 1 John 2, Exodus and John 8, it says God has seen our oppression, heard our cry and comes down to deliver, that the Son sets us free from sin now, and that like Israel at the Red Sea we must not quit following Christ.

▶ Watch this part (38:11)

Short answer: Little children, young men and fathers, women included; the goal is to grow from spiritual babies to mature adults by adding to your faith.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 38:11 Jesus it says in the next scripture I write to you fathers because you have known him who is from the beginning I write to you young men because you have overcome the wicked one you are strong and the word of God abides in you so you see here there’s a difference between each level you have children you have young men and you have fathers and that includes women too okay he’s just giving an example an illustration young men and women young uh boys and girls uh this is a growth in your life a spiritual. Growth I write to you I’m sorry here and so God is reminding us in this scripture there is growth that God wants to do in your life as Peter said add to your faith Peter said add to your faith so the goal is to grow from babies to mature adults and we’re not talking about our bodies right now we’re talking about your spiritual condition okay like a human body your spirit has a uh growth level all right right that’s what God is saying right.

▶ 39:30 Here and the goal is to grow there’s a saying by Will Rogers it says even if you’re on the right track you’ll get run over if you just sit there I used to have this this used to be a poster in my my work uh because it is always moving and technology is always growing but uh it’s the same way in God you don’t want to just sit accept Jesus Christ and just stay where you’re at you want want to get on the track of growth you want to head toward the goal and that’s to become mature and uh this this scripture about these young men and women they overcome the wicked one you got to remember there’s going to be tribulation coming in life there’s the uh Satan is seeking whom he may devour you’ve got we have to rise and meet that.

How long did God plan for Israel’s exodus?

▶ Watch this part (41:23)

Short answer: He says two years from Egypt to the promised land; God is not on a forever plan and wants to deliver you from Satan and sin quickly.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 41:23 The total time that God planned for Israel to come out of Egypt to the promised land was 2. Years so back when Joseph became second in command he was put in second in command by Pharaoh Joseph brought his family uh from a land they brought his father Jacob who is Israel and his brothers and they all lived in the land of Goshen in Egypt 400 years later they forgot about Joseph and all of a sudden Egypt now has the Israelites as their slaves.

▶ 42:00 So uh it’s started out as a good relationship but Egypt turned uh the Israelites into their slaves and God wanted to bring them out of that as we’ll see here in just a minute if you’ve never heard the story it’s it’s in Exodus it’s called Exodus because they are exiting right God is bringing them out Exodus and he does great and wonderful things to bring them out but the plan was to bring them out of Egypt to the promised land uh in two years okay so when we think about our lives we don’t need to take forever our whole lifetime to be delivered from Satan and sin you know God’s not on a forever plan okay he wants to do things quickly in your life the Bible talks about a quick work okay I mean two years is not quick you know it’s not like two seconds that’s a there there’s a difference but still God wants to uh bring you out of all that in a short period of time and the proof is right here in Numbers 9 verse 1 you can look at up that up later talking about the second year I just wanted you guys to have that reference Exodus chapter 1:13 the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor they made their lives bitter with hard bondage and mortar and brick and all manner of

Scripture (NKJV)

Exodus 1:13-14 (NKJV)

So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor. And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage—in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.

— Exodus 1:13-14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:00
Scripture (NKJV)

Deuteronomy 5:15 (NKJV)

And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

— Deuteronomy 5:15 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:29

Who is a slave of sin?

▶ Watch this part (43:30)

Short answer: Whoever commits sin, Jesus said; sin grows from the mind to coveting to committing it, but the Son sets you free now, in your lifetime.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 43:30 service in the field Deuteronomy 5:15 you were a slave in Egypt and I redeemed you and brought you out so I’m just reiterating here what I already said but the children of Israel were slaves they were under in in bondage to the Egyptians and Christ in John chapter 8:34 and red letters when it’s red letters that means Jesus spoke it and said it we want to pay attention very carefully uh he said most assuredly I say to you whoever commits sin is a slave of sin so when we go from thinking the about sin to actually committing the sin right there’s a process in your mind it’s in your mind and you go from in your mind to uh you know the next thing is coveting you’re you’re pl you’re you’re this thing is growing and you’re not stopping it and then pretty soon it what comes out and it’s you’ve committed it now and Christ is saying if you commit that sin you are a slave or under under bondage to that sin a slave does not abide in the house forever but a son abides.

▶ 44:49 Forever therefore if the Son makes you free you will be free indeed so Christ is mentioning saying hey your sin is going to make you a slave and you’re not going to be able to abide in my house in my kingdom. Forever unless you what come to the Son and the Son is going to what set you free not just so you can be in heaven forever but he’s going to set you free from sin. Now today on earth in your lifetime. And then an hour later you’re going to do something similar some similar sin that you need to repent from that you need to change from and you come back to God and you say I I need to. Change and you keep doing that until pretty soon you are.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

John 8:34-36 (NKJV)

Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

— John 8:34-36 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:30

Who gets the credit for freedom?

▶ Watch this part (45:42)

Short answer: Jesus. Worship, prayer, praise and fasting are tools that bring you to Christ; we don’t cast out demons, Jesus does.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 45:42 Free it’s important to remember it’s the Son who sets you free it’s not God’s tools worship prayer and praise and fasting doesn’t set you free who sets you free Jesus sets you fre free now we use what God has made these tools coming in singing worshiping praying fasting putting your his word in us that all is what God uses to bring you to who Jesus Christ who what sets you free so it’s important that all what you’re doing brings you to. Christ it’s not not what you’re doing that saves you it’s Christ that saves you now I don’t want you to I don’t want to discourage you from doing it keep doing it okay have a close relationship with Christ that’s the goal be careful that we do not give credit to ourselves the credit goes to.

What freedom does the world promise?

▶ Watch this part (46:45)

Short answer: The world promises liberty and fun to get your money and get you addicted, but by whom a person is overcome, by him he is brought into bondage.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 46:45 Christ we do not cast out demons Jesus does we don’t save people from their sin who does Jesus does just like like the song says that’s what Jesus does. Amen Peter reminds us in chapter 2:18 they allure through the lust of the flesh through lewdness while they promise them liberty they themselves are slaves of corruption for by them by by whom a person is overcome by him also he is brought into bondage the world wants you to think and wants to promise you that this is freedom when you go out in the world it looks like fre freedom you can go on the advertisement the advertisement would come all over oh this is freedom we’re having fun. Sinning this is a great thing come on just pay the money so we can get your money get addicted so we can really get your money.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Peter 2:18-19 (NKJV)

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

— 2 Peter 2:18-19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 46:45

Has God seen your oppression?

▶ Watch this part (47:47)

Short answer: He has seen, heard and knows our sorrows; and Christ can sympathize because He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin.

▶ 47:47 They don’t care about you they don’t care about your life they promise you to freedom and fun. But you turn into a slave a slave to sin and God can help us overcome we don’t want to be in bondage that’s what this is talking about Israel they are ins slaved and we can be enslaved as Christians in our lives they they believed in God they would pray to God and we’ve got to believe and we got to pray to God but somewhere we’ve got to get God to bring us out of that sl slavery I have seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters for I know their sorrows we do not have a high in Hebrews chapter 4:15 we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses but was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin I bring up these scriptures because first of all God is saying three very important things okay first thing he says is he has what.

▶ 49:04 Seen don’t you want God to see what you’re going through don’t you want God to see the oppression that the kingdom of darkness has put on your heart or the oppression that you have in your natural life hopefully you didn’t bring it on by yourself hopefully you didn’t you didn’t bring on the oppression your yourself through your choices but God has seen. It in this example and have heard their cry because of their task masters are we crying out to God for him to hear our cry yeah I’m crying out to. God has he heard our cry he has heard our cry are you crying out to him or do you give him any time do you take time in your life to pray to come before him to cry out to him to exalt him remember that lord’s prayer is a great model of how you approach God it starts out with you know our father in heaven hallowed be thy name you give praise glory and honor to God and then you you talk about the other things it’s very good.

▶ 50:21 I know their sorrows Christ. Has can sympathize with our weaknesses because he was tempted in all the points that we are now you look at me and you say mike you’ve never been what I’ve been through you know a gang member comes in you don’t know the life that I’ve had to live in person comes in never had a father an orphan family doing drugs all that you don’t understand mike no I don’t. Understand but Christ. Does. Jesus in all points was tempted like every one of us was tempted and yet what without sin Christ he.

How is Moses a picture of Christ?

▶ Watch this part (54:13)

Short answer: God raised up a prophet like Moses, Jesus; and like Moses we are sent, because the church is Jesus.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 54:13 Light and then he turns to Moses and he says come I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people the children of Israel out of Egypt and if you no Moses uh is an illustration of Christ Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak to them all that I command him talking about Jesus Christ who is to come okay Moses is an illustration of Jesus. Christ and we are supposed to hear what Christ says in Hebrews we were reminded last week week that God is speaking through his son amen Jesus. Christ but we also have a part in this just like Moses was sent we are what sent amen we are heirs with Christ we are children of God Jesus said to Saul on the road to Damascus what did he say why are you per persecuting.

▶ 55:27 Me and who was Saul persecuting he was persecuting the church the church is Jesus Jesus is the church you don’t mess with the church and God has sent us he has sent Christ who is with his church to uh bring God’s people out of bondage through his word. Amen we are important the church is very important the church of God and assembling and coming before him and and and and reaching out to our community it’s very important that’s what we what we are supposed to be doing God is sending out.

▶ 56:23 Us and if you want to say God I really don’t like your process I don’t like your church I don’t like the way you’ve set this up and you want to post your your review on it you know online about how you don’t like what he did his setup his pro I mean he’s going to he’s going to look at your review and I I don’t I don’t know what he’s going to say but it’s not up for of you this is this is what Christ is in I will build my what church and the gates of hell shall not prevail he’s going to do it and he’s going to do it until the day he comes back so we got to get what involved with the church so he has seen our oppression he has heard our cry he knows our sorrows he has come down to deliver us he wants to bring us up to the promised land in our case he’s going to write our name in what the book of life amen that promise that we have and not only the promise of eternity but also knowing God now you don’t have to be afraid and scared that when you die you don’t know where you’re going no you can know you can have that uh that water like he said to the woman at the well flowing up an everlasting ah I can’t remember what they what he said.

How does Satan see you?

▶ Watch this part (57:55)

Short answer: Pharaoh wouldn’t even allow a three days’ journey; to Satan you are expendable and he would rather you end your life, but to God you are everything.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 57:55 Everlasting life in your heart you can have it you can have that water and he’s sending Christ and us to bring people out of bondage so this is what God is doing this is what he wants to do in your life he doesn’t want to take forever he wants to uh free you from the oppression he knows where you’re coming from and he is going to come down from heaven. Himself. And help you amen isn’t that. Powerful so in Exodus chapter 3:18 it says let us go three days journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to the Lord so they come before Pharaoh and this is what they ask for three days journey just a three days journey and Pharaoh says no way I’m not letting you go you’re my slaves you do what I tell you to do and uh he wouldn’t even let him have that Satan and the kingdom of darkness they don’t want you getting a taste of God darkness doesn’t want to let you go it would rather you end your life.

▶ 59:10 Than thinking there is hope in Christ darkness doesn’t care about you Satan doesn’t care about you you are. Expendable did you know that in Satan’s eyes you’re expendable if you start preaching his message he can find somebody else to do it and he if he can bring you down to the place where you end your life that’s what he wants you to do cuz he does not care about you you’re expendable to. Him but God doesn’t see you that way at. All in the end there’s something called the marriage supper of the lamb that Jesus is coming to wed his church every one of us we are his inheritance the new covenant says I will be your God and you will be mine I want a relationship with each and every individual.

▶ 1:00:22 I care about every one of you and I love every one of you that’s how God sees. You I died on the cross for every one of you when Jesus is on the cross he stayed there because he wanted his inheritance he wanted. You and that’s why he created this world you want to know why we’re here he created this world because he’s looking for people that will love. Him and decide yes I want to be with him when I die yes I want to serve him now in my life I want. Jesus I want my God uh scientists and the story writers today we talk like we are a virus on the earth we’re just destroying the earth in the planet you see that’s not the way God sees us at.

▶ 1:01:39 All you know the the the the atheists and the scientists they want to understand how the earth works and everything in it and that’s great good for you but they don’t understand why we’re here they don’t understand that that everything was created for. Us so that God could set all this up so he could have people that decided to love. Him so don’t believe that voice Satan. Again he doesn’t care about you you’re expendable to him but to God you are everything you are valuable you are of so much.

Go God will fight the enemy in your life Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord was confirmed to us by those who heard him and bearing witness with signs and wonders with various miracles gifts of the Holy Spirit according to his will I want to remind you when you come into Vine Cluster church we encourage you to come with an exhortation a word of exhortation edification and comfort to the body of Christ.

What should we bring to service?

▶ Watch this part (1:03:55)

Short answer: A word of edification, exhortation and comfort, even a one-liner Scripture, so God’s Spirit can move and convict.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:03:55 Okay if you walk in and you’re like I don’t know what that means mike well don’t come in saying oh that guy right there I hate that guy that is not edification exhortation and comfort. Okay come in with a scripture that maybe spoke to you even if it’s just a oneliner and you just say it out with all your heart that will be encouraging that will build up the body I encourage you let we want to be minded to let God’s spirit move in our services we want his signs and wonders that were done back in the day to ha happen now and today. Amen when we come in in 1 Corinthians 14 we want people to hear that edification exhortation and comfort and be convicted let God come by his spirit and convict us very important I encourage you remember that it’s a great salvation it’s a great salvation it’s a powerful salvation that Christ has for his people.

Why does it matter that it was the Red Sea?

▶ Watch this part (1:05:08)

Short answer: The blood on the doorposts saved them; Scripture names the place, so you can’t call it a mistranslation and undercut what God did.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:05:08 In Exodus chapter 14:10 the Egyptians came so I’m skipping a little bit here but God came with his signs and wonders right he came with his 10 plagues the last plague was uh the firstborn would be killed and they put the doorposts they put the blood on the doorpost of their houses just like we need the blood of Christ on the doorpost of our heart. Heart and they were saved from the angel of death so they come uh so Pharaoh tells them to go and they travel and they’re going to the Red Sea and I want to point out something real quick when it talks about the Red Sea it says it gives you more information it says near Pi Hahiroth and it says Baal Zephon it gives you more information you can’t just say oh it’s the Reed Sea no no it’s the Red Sea and it’s it’s right there by Pi Hahiroth okay God’s word is you can’t just say oh it’s a mistranslation and end up in another sea somewhere that’s a foot deep and then you undercut what God did amen you understand what I’m.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Exodus 14:2 (NKJV)

What do we do when we get discouraged?

▶ Watch this part (1:06:23)

Short answer: Israel said it would be better to serve the Egyptians; but we don’t give up. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 1:06:23 Saying. So they’re afraid they’re at the Red Sea crossing and they have nowhere to go they’re kind of locked in and they’re afraid and how many know we would be afraid yes if all of a sudden we got an enemy and we’re locked in we would be afraid all right and so they said is this not the word that we told you in Egypt let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians so all of a sudden they started to change their tune and this is how we get I told you I told you pastor I told. You that we can’t be delivered I told you that I can’t change I told you that sat Satan won’t let me go I told. You and it says for it would would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we die in the wilderness.

▶ 1:07:24 And so their heart is changing they’re getting discouraged and sometimes we get discouraged but you can’t give up in God just because you come to some discouraging spot in your life in your relationship does not mean that we give up. Amen Exodus 14:13 he says Moses said do not be afraid stand still and see the salvation of the Lord and in Exodus 14:25 it says that the angels came and took off the chariot. Wheels of the Egyptians the waters returned and covered the chariots the horsemen and all the army of Pharaoh and so even though the people of God were afraid now the fear was on.

▶ 1:08:22 Who the army of Pharaoh. Not so much as one of them remained of the army of Pharaoh and the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians Israel saw the great work what the Lord had done in Egypt and the people feared the Lord and believed the Lord and his servant. Moses and so we have to be reminded. The Israelites started and were del started from Egypt and they had to walk all the way to the Red Sea they had to keep following the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night they had to decide in their heart am I going to keep doing this am I going to keep following this cloud am I going to keep following Moses who looks like a wandering.

Scripture (NKJV)

Exodus 14:11-13 (NKJV)

Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

So the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Thus Israel saw the great work which the LORD had done in Egypt; so the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD and His servant Moses.

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ” Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

About this transcript

This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: The service opens with worship songs (lyrics as captioned) before the message at about 36:57. He says God planned two years from Egypt to the promised land, citing Numbers 9:1; he cites Peter “chapter 2:18” (2 Peter 2:18–19). Place names near the Red Sea (Pi Hahiroth, Baal Zephon) were restored from caption errors. Select any time to jump to that moment on YouTube.
