Through prayer, worship, fasting and the word we take on His character and add virtue to faith.

Why be grateful?

▶ Watch this part (14:24)

Short answer: In everything give thanks; whatever comes, I won’t complain.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 14:24 For you Michael’s going to. Come. So. This. This song is called grateful. And we’re grateful for Jesus Christ amen. There’s many stories in the Bible about examples of being grateful and thankful that job came to mind when he lost everything he had he still got on his knees worshiped and said to God thank you Jesus thank you God the Lord gives the Lord takes away.

▶ 15:30 And second Thessalonians like we read earlier said in everything we give thanks and no matter what’s going on in our country no matter what’s going on our personal lives. We thank God for what we have and what he’s done for us. Amen comes I won’t complain. For all my hope. Is. I am. Grateful.

▶ 16:23 This is the day that you have made whatever comes I won’t complain. All my hope is in your name and now your joy awaits my love your grace. Is. He at my feet on higher ground.

What is the series?

▶ Watch this part (20:14)

Short answer: There is nothing new under the sun; the Old Testament was written as examples for us.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 20:14 On a series of there’s nothing new under the sun. We’re going to go to Ecclesiastes 1 9. And where he God said in his word 3 000 years after creation he said what has been done. Will be done again. What has been will be again there is nothing new under the sun and so we asked this question is this verse true. Welcome ladies. So we’re going to go to the Bible and find out if this verse is true. And we’re going to take for our authority.

▶ 21:10 First Corinthians 10:11 all these things that happened to God’s people to those in the Old Testament. Happened as examples. And they were written for our admonition. Upon whom the ends of the world have come. All right so when we want an example of New Testament truth. Where do we go to the Old Testament when we want the caution and the warning and the instruction. Of a New Testament truth where do we go to get the knowledge and the warning the Old Testament is it God had them written for our admonition and for our learning are examples again we go to ii Timothy 3:16.

Can the man of God be perfect?

▶ Watch this part (22:05)

Short answer: All Scripture is given so the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 22:05 All scripture how many scriptures all scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine all scripture is profitable for reproof and correction all scripture is profitable for the instruction in righteousness. You don’t eliminate the law you don’t eliminate the Old Testament all scripture has been written by God and it is profitable can I hear an amen hallelujah. All scripture is profitable that the man of God may be perfect the people of God may be perfect now everybody. That I know. Says you can’t be perfect how many have heard that statement yeah well if you hadn’t heard that statement I don’t know where you are you on this earth.

▶ 23:04 Yeah can be perfect we can’t be perfect. But God here says the man of God may be perfect. Thoroughly furnished unto all good works. A lot of Christian says now works is needed no works and here all scripture is profitable unto what good works. So. One more verse that we’re going to base our teaching on is Romans 16:25. The preaching of Jesus Christ. According to the Revelation of the mystery. You see you read a mystery book or you watch a mystery movie the author hides the end or tries to hide the end while he’s giving you clues of how it’s going to end am I right well guess what the Old Testament.

▶ 24:07 Was written in mysteries similes metaphors. Things like that parables. And it takes the spirit to open your understanding to those things and so the gospel of Christ was a mystery kept secret since the world began since Adam was created. The gospel of Jesus was a mystery written in the Old Testament. Hallelujah. Now he says. They are now made manifest made plain by the prophetic scriptures to all nations. By the prophetic scriptures all of these scriptures inspired by God now. We go back to the Old Testament and we see the mysteries that were hidden about Jesus Christ coming and dying being born of a virgin dying for our sins rising from the grave and all of this stuff isn’t that powerful so that’s what we’re basing the foundation of this teaching on.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

How was man made?

▶ Watch this part (25:17)

Short answer: In the image and likeness of God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 25:17 And so we’re going to first through Ecclesiastes 1 9 to use that scripture. There is nothing new under the sun so let’s find out if this verse is still true in other areas today we’re going to go to Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 and 27. To see if this is true there’s nothing new under the sun. It says there let us make man in our image. According to our likeness. Verse 27 so God created. Man in his own image. In the image of God he created them male and female.

▶ 26:12 He created them okay man was made in the likeness and the image of God. Now. If the scriptures are true. We’re going to have to find. Another time when God made man in his image. Is that right. Hallelujah. Are you interested. Hallelujah this book is powerful folks it is a supernatural book written by supernatural God very powerful so we’re going to go to second Corinthians chapter 3 verse 18. In second Corinthians chapter 3 verse 18 we read we all be holding as in a glass the glory of the Lord now you know when you look into a glass you see the reflection of you if you look into a mirror you really see the reflection of you I mean you see every flaw in your face.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV)

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

— Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:12

How does the word change us?

▶ Watch this part (27:20)

Short answer: Beholding the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, we are transformed — metamorphosed — into the same image.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 27:20 Okay. So what is God saying God is saying when you look into the word of God okay it reflects. The glory of the Lord it doesn’t reflect you it reflects his glory isn’t that right so the word is important the word of God is important. And then he says. We all are changed into the same image. Wow. Ecclesiastes says there’s nothing new under the sun Genesis says God made man in his own image in his own likeness and here in the New Testament we find out he’s doing it again hallelujah. Is this a supernatural book or not it is.

▶ 28:15 Does God have the power to back up what he says absolutely can he make you into the image of God yes you didn’t say it very enthusiastically. Very confidently but he’s big enough to do what he promised to do. And we are going to be all be chains in the same image from glory to glory see we see God’s honor in the in the Bible. He is at the top his value his worthiness. His honor we see it in the Bible but we have to grow from glory to glory to glory when we accept Christ we’re not up here in the glory.

▶ 29:10 We’re not up here in the change the word change there by the way is metamorphosed. You see. A butterfly starts with a larva. Changes into a caterpillar. Goes into a cocoon. And in that cocoon it starts. Changing from a caterpillar to a butterfly. And then the cocoon opens up and the butterfly beautiful butterfly comes out that ugly larva that ugly caterpillar. Is transformed. Miraculously. Into a beautiful butterfly. Now what is God telling us he’s not he’s telling us that we don’t stop at salvation. We don’t stop at just believing in God he has a plan for us to make us a light to the world amen.

▶ 30:11 An image of him in this earth. So we see. That God is doing that to anyone that will come to him and let him change them from glory to glory as by the spirit of the Lord we saw the glass the mirror was the word of God now we see him saying the spirit of the Lord so the word and the spirit work together. To change us into beautiful. Christian people. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. So Ecclesiastes 1 9 is right let’s go to Luke 6:4 chapter 6 40. The disciple is not above his master but everyone that is perfect shall be as or like his master.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

— 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:20

What does perfect mean?

▶ Watch this part (31:08)

Short answer: Full-grown, complete; the disciple shall be like his master.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 31:08 Now you got to understand what the word perfect here is used in the Bible. We are used to the word perfect being flawless. My mom is flawless. No she’s not. My dad is flawless my children are flawless no they’re not. All right. But we’re used to that english interpretation of perfect flawless. Nothing. No problems okay. But in the Bible when that word is used it’s used as maturity. Full grown. And complete. See so let’s substitute complete for perfect the disciple is not above his master but everyone that is complete.

▶ 32:05 Grown up full-grown shall be like his master. Amen. So God is saying he is changing people in the New Testament. Into his image by the word of God and by the spirit of the Lord. Hallelujah we don’t stay at the baby stage of christianity we don’t stay at the larva stage we don’t stay at the caterpillar stage we keep growing unto a beautiful light to the world let’s go to Matthew 5:48. This is the scripture that God birthed in me as a young Christian. Therefore. For this reason you shall be perfect. Complete. Now say it complete complete okay.

▶ 33:01 Just as your father in heaven is complete is there anything lacking in God nothing nothing he’s everything that he promised we could be. And so I went as a young Christian one year on God somewhere in there I went to the church I went to and I said. How do we become perfect but I didn’t understand the word either when I asked this question. And they said oh nobody can be perfect I said you guys told me that I was going to hell. If I sin the way now you’re telling me I can’t help but sin. Are you there. Now you’re telling me you can’t be perfect you’re always going to you’re always going to do wrong I said that doesn’t make sense.

▶ 33:59 But still I still didn’t understand that word perfect. See. So how many want to understand this yes hallelujah. So. I pursued God on this verse right here in prayer and reading I pursued God I wanted answers. And I got them. Now. Completion. Maturity. Full-grown. Is where prayer worship fasting praise assembling together reading and studying the word come into the picture.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Luke 6:40 (NKJV)

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

— Luke 6:40 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 31:08
Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

— Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:01

How do we take on His character?

▶ Watch this part (34:54)

Short answer: Pray, worship, fast, praise, assemble and read the word — touching God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 34:54 You see you can’t do these things pray worship fast praise like we did assemble together read the word without God showing up. Because he asked you to do them he will show up. And when he shows up you’re going to take on his character. You’re going to take on the character of who you spend time with. And if you take time to pray time to read time to study. Time to worship time to praise time to assemble together God’s going to show up and if you recognize him and connect with him you are going to take on his character. You see the Bible says you run with fools you become what fools you run with wise men you become what wise men you see we take on the characteristics of those that we run with.

▶ 35:59 So if we take time to operate these principles of God. We will take on his character. Hallelujah now the danger is this. None of these methods. Are the goal. The danger is you make prayer the goal you make worship and praise the goal oh I just love to worship and praise God oh I just love to pray that is not the goal that is the method to the goal. The goal is to touch Jesus and grow. Amen. Just reading the Bible that is not the goal and being able to quote scriptures.

▶ 36:55 It is touching God. And taking on his character. Hallelujah. Changed into his image. The goal is his likeness. Being like God. And most everything you hear on radio and tv. Are methods. And basically faith just staying at the baby stage. Just teaching on babies all the time and not teaching people how to grow am I right absolutely. A lot of people just go to church to hear the music. They like the music or they pick something those are the methods to the goal.

▶ 37:51 Jesus and his image is the goal amen church powerful just powerful. Now let me give an example of this. God is spirit the Bible says isn’t that right. The Bible also says the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace long-suffering gentleness kindness meekness faith and temperance self-control. So. I get saved I need to grow. All right when I get saved I don’t know how to love you. I don’t have peace yet I don’t have joy yet. And I certainly didn’t have self-control.

▶ 38:43 And a lot of us today don’t have self-control that I’m looking at both on facebook and here. The lack of self-control ruins marriages. The lack of self-control ruins families. Oh we take our kids to church and we pray with them at night before they go to bed and then we curse out their spouse and we yell and scream at our spouse and we just do things out of anger and hatred and vengeance. And then we wonder why our kids don’t like church. Because they don’t see it working. Now that was good. Whether you want to hear it or not that was good. Amen. See when we grow to the image.

▶ 39:39 The children will see that it’s profitable. It’s profitable. To serve God. All right so we got a lot of things to grow in love and joy and peace and gentleness manners. Goodness temperance self-control and faith faith is not just being persuaded. Faith is being persuaded and being loyal. You’re loyal to the one you’re persuaded in you’re committed. Are you there. I’m sure that all of us could use a lot more loyalty to God in his word could that be an amen yes yes so.

▶ 40:32 Be perfect as your father which is in heaven is perfect I had to seek God I had to find him in worship and praying I had to read and study the word I had to poke my time there’s the word I had to take time to do what God said to do and spending time with him before I slowly took on his nature. Amen. If I don’t put in the time to do what he said I’m not going to grow. So John 1:11. Jesus came into his own and his own received him not his own believed in God his own had faith in God they believed in the scriptures.

Who becomes God’s children?

▶ Watch this part (41:32)

Short answer: As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 41:32 But they didn’t accept him they didn’t receive him into their life. Are you with me. There’s a big difference. You see when you want to get married you can believe that that man or woman is the right one. Okay. You can have faith that they’re going to love you till the end of time. But until you accept them in holy matrimony in a marriage union. You’re not going to do anything. With that person. That makes sense yeah. There’s got to be a commitment there’s got to be a relationship.

▶ 42:24 They didn’t accept God in the flesh they didn’t accept Jesus but look at this. Verse 12. As many as accepted Jesus received Jesus. To them. Kind of believers gave he what. Power to become. Sons of God they don’t start out being sons of God they become sons of God they develop into sons of God they grow into sons of God and sons of God grow to adulthood. Ah church that was good hallelujah. You see we don’t stay children.

▶ 43:17 Children grow in the natural you feed them you give them exercise and so forth and teach them how to take care of the hygiene and all that they’re going to grow into an adult. It’s the same way in the kingdom you don’t stay children. You got to grow but to grow you got to work the principles of God and you can’t take one principle and make a God out of it and make a church out of it and make a movement out of it you’ve got to take the principles the methods and meet with Jesus and let his power. Transform you into a mature complete Christian. Amen yeah give God a clap offering his word is. Powerful. Now.

▶ 44:13 As you know. Our children have flaws. Babies come into the world they’re just full of flaws all they do is poop and eat and yeah I mean cry and it’s want your attention want your attention all the time. And that’s the way baby Christians are all they are. Good for is take up your time but they’re so cute you know you don’t mind it they’re so cute. But you don’t want them staying babies do you want them to grow you know if they’re three years old and still one foot long there’s a pro something wrong am I right. Hallelujah. So the key here is the power folks.

▶ 45:08 Power is the supernatural ability of God God has the power. To perform what he promised he can make you into his image he can take the anger out of you he can take the hatred out of you and the vengeance out of you and that smart mouth out of you and the bad attitude out of you and change you into something that people love and appreciate. Hallelujah. And so many homes there’s one person in the home that you’ve got to walk around like your own needles and pens because if you’d say or do the wrong thing they just they just lose it they get angry they get mad they shoot their mouth off and so you don’t want to right that should not be after three or four years in God that should not be happening in a marriage can I hear an amen now the problem is we’re not spending time.

▶ 46:05 Doing these things. And not getting wrapped up in the method but we’re getting wrapped up in the messenger of Jesus who has the power to make us beautiful Christians hallelujah. I’ve seen so many people just into prayer they just pray pray when the hour comes up they go on about their business God’s there but they don’t touch him they don’t listen to him they don’t take time to hear what he’s got to say they just. Shoot their mouth off for an hour. Of course none of you are like that. See people like the music and praise and worship especially in this generation in my generation praise and worship was freshly brought in to the kingdom and people frowned on it now it’s become a business.

▶ 47:02 They just like the music give us a friend you know give us great singers and you know they just they just meet with the music you got to meet with the messenger. He has the power to change you the music don’t have the power to change you the singers don’t have the power to change it and as loud as you can praise God and and as as deep as you can weep it has no power to change you Jesus has the power to change you. Amen. Is the power. Now. Ii Peter 1:4-8. As the musicians come you may be partakers of the divine nature we are given many exceedingly great and precious promises that you might be what partakers of the divine nature the divine nature.

What do we add to our faith?

▶ Watch this part (48:01)

Short answer: Virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 48:01 You know it’s not you’re not going to replace God but you’re gonna take on his characteristics his character he’s kind he’s merciful he’s a happy God he’s not depressed he’s not afraid of anything. Are you there. And then he tells us how to do it add to your faith add to your persuasion in God and your loyalty to him. Virtue or goodness. Is God good. Yeah you came because you answered the call that you were a sinner and you needed repentance and forgiveness of that sin. So that you could turn into a good person and that’s exactly what they’re saying here you got to add to your faith goodness but how do you gonna know how to be good unless you add knowledge.

▶ 49:03 See I got to know what’s good so I got to go to the Bible and find out what’s good. So I got to add knowledge if I’m going to be good. Then you add self-control. Hallelujah. And this is lacking in so many Christians it’s amazing. They still use profanity they still get mad they still hate man. They’re just glad they’re going to heaven. Well. Going to heaven doesn’t help your spouse or your children any at all. But your character. Will help your children and your spouse and your family your parents your character.

▶ 49:56 Makes the difference. So then you gotta add patience why do you need patience because you got to be patient with yourself while you’re learning the knowledge to be good and learning how to control yourself so you got to be patient with yourself and not give up. Are you there and you got to be patient with others. Just because you’ve reached a plateau doesn’t mean they have so be patient with them can I hear an amen. And be patient with yourself this is a growing process. But you’ve got to apply the principles. Then you add godliness godliness is a deep devout reverence adoration for God. Hallelujah.

▶ 50:52 You put him first you put his time first above every time. If you don’t put his time first. You’re not really devoted to him when you let anything. Invade into your time with God you’re not walking in godliness. Are you with me. And then you add brotherly kindness brotherly kindness is love your neighbors yourself and love. The Christians the brothers in Christ they may be catholic they may be protestant they may be holy rollers they may be presbyterians or methodists but if they. Are following Christ you are to love them.

▶ 51:48 Amen. And that’s the second commandment see you add the see I talk to people on the internet and they think they’ve obtained the second commandment because they’ve read it and believe it no you got to add it you’ve got to grow into loving your neighbor as yourself can I hear an amen amen hallelujah and then love God. Love that never quits. Love. That covers a multitude of sin people can do things to you and don’t bother you at all hallelujah. Don’t bother at all. Amen. Love is above tongues first Corinthians 13. I can speak in tongues and I can interpret them but if I don’t have love I’m just a clanging symbol I’m just an irritable Christian are you there yes I can have all knowledge and all faith that I can move mountains and I can prophesy but if I don’t have love I’m nothing.

▶ 52:55 I can give all my goods to feed the poor oh I help the poor man I’m a great Christian. And no matter what people throw at me I’m just going to serve Christ yeah first Corinthians says it profits you nothing if you don’t have love. Are you there. God is love and that’s what we get God in his completeness. And we grow into it. Hallelujah when he comes John 1 first John 3:2 we will be like him. There’s another. Change coming for Christians. When Jesus comes before he comes we’re going to be like him remember he’s coming and presenting himself a glorious church without spotter recall any such thing it’s going to happen he isn’t coming today he isn’t coming tomorrow he’s coming when all of his prophecies are fulfilled.

Is Jesus coming any minute?

▶ Watch this part (54:00)

Short answer: Radio and TV ministers say so, but the dead in Christ rise first as God does what He has done before.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Pastor David G. Kincer

▶ 54:00 People have got these radio and tv ministers have got you believing that he’s coming any minute when he has got a lot of things to do he’s coming for a glorious church not a baby church amen. He is also building a church that the gates of hell cannot prevail against right now there’s so much sin going on in the church. But God is building a church and that the gates of hell cannot prevail against. The church is winning the Bible also says we rule on earth the church isn’t ruling right now on earth. The secular people are but there’s a change coming. There’s a change coming and then he comes Jesus comes all right.

▶ 54:55 The dead in Christ. Rise first. All those people in the graves that are rotted away to dust. I don’t care if they’re in the ocean I don’t care if they’re in the grave I don’t care if they went through the fire and just ashes. All of those particles come back together. And God creates an immortality. Body can’t die. Can’t die anymore. They come out of the grave just like the saints of old came out of the grave when Jesus came out of the grave the saints of old they materialized they came back into a body God make and gave him a immortal body and they went in and showed themselves to people in the town.

▶ 55:49 Are you with me then they come out of the grave and then those of us who are alive and well I would love to see that day man. We get chains in the twinkling of an eye just pow. We don’t need oxygen anymore we don’t need water anymore we don’t need blood to keep us alive anymore we don’t need air water we don’t need that anymore we don’t need sunlight anymore besides the sun’s gone if you know the Bible. We are changed again into the image of God and now it’s an immortal change we will never die and we will have a body that never dies. So Ecclesiastes 1 9 is truth wouldn’t you say yes.

▶ 56:47 What has been done will be done there’s nothing new under the sun God’s going to do it but it’s not nothing new it’s fresh and if you want to grow in God this morning will you stand with me if you want to accept Christ into your life. With his power if you’re willing to commit to the principles of God stand with me and let’s sing this song and made it. All right okay. From the dust of the earth. God created man. His breath made.

▶ 57:42 A living. For. God. In his likeness. For I. Was born to serve the Lord.

▶ 58:39 These hands were made. To help my neighbor. These eyes were made to read God’s word. Please in his footsteps. My body is the temple of the Lord for I was made in his likeness. Created in his image.

▶ 59:33 And I. Can’t deny him I’ll always walk beside him. For I was born to serve the Lord sing it again with our hands raised unto him. Made in his likeness. And I can’t deny. Him. Walk beside him for I. Was. Born.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
