Civil Disobedience Part 2: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
God revealed Himself in the furnace as a fourth man, and Nebuchadnezzar blessed the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, decreeing protection for Him. The teaching traces moral decline—STDs and drugs—and calls believers to do righteousness.
How does God reveal Himself?
Short answer: In the furnace—a fourth man; the king blesses their God who rules.
▶ 0:00 As we know this Sunday school story, the civil law has changed and God reveals himself to a pagan nation. Now, I don’t know about you, but that’s my prayer that God reveals himself to this world. And it’s worth going through some difficulties if the end result is God reveals it. Now, doesn’t mean they’ll accept him. Doesn’t mean they’ll follow him. But God makes himself known. They know without a doubt there is a difference between Hindu, Buddhas, Animus and Jesus Christ. Now that gets my attention. And so when people say there’s nothing we can do about it, there’s no hope. No, I rise up and fight back.
▶ 0:52 I do. I don’t know what God your servants serve, but the God I serve, he rules the nation. He rules the government. He’s the head of the church. He’s in control of everything or else he’s worthless. Here’s the king. All right. They’re thrown in the fiery furnace. The king says, “I see four men loose. I threw three in and there’s four people in there walking in the midst of the fire. They have no hurt. And the fourth one is like the son of God. Now, who’s the son of God? Say it a little louder. Yeah. He has a Revelation of Jesus before Jesus has come and born of the virgin. WOO. THAT’S THE GOD THAT WE HAVE, CHURCH.
▶ 1:43 THAT’S THE GOD that can turn America, South America, Europe, and Asia around. When just a few people decide to do right,. It’s not about believing. That doesn’t lead you to action of right. It’s not about grace. It’s about righteousness. Doing right, not hurting your brother, not hurting yourself. Then he says, “You servants of the most high God.” Now he’s saying, “What? God is the top God. This God, not my gods, is the top God.” In fact, there isn’t any other God. All other gods are made up by men.
▶ 2:38 Then all the civil leaders, he brought all the civil leaders around and they saw that the fire had no power over these men. Their hair wasn’t singed, their clothing wasn’t singed, and there was no smell of fire upon them. Now all of his leaders know that God is the most high and he is the son of God in there. Amen. Wow. We can use that in America. Amen. And then the king said God sent his angel. See, he identified him as the son of God. Now he’s identifiing as a messenger of God, an angel, a spirit being, a heavenly spirit being. His eyes are open. That the God that we serve in the Bible has angels.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 3:25-28 (NKJV)
“Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them. Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!
— Daniel 3:25-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00Do we have angels?
Short answer: He says every believer has a guardian angel.
▶ 3:29 He has spirit beings. And every one of you have a guardian angel in your life, the Bible says, and they are messengers to us. See to keep us on the right road. They are our messengers. Hebrews chapter 2. And he has delivered his servants that trusted in him. You see, trust is a bigger word than faith. Faith, you’re persuaded something is right. Trust, you act on it. Hallelujah. He says, “I” and they have changed the king’s word, yielded their bodies.” Say these three words. Yielded their bodies. See, anybody can just say, “I love Jesus.” Anybody can just say, “I’m a believer.” But when you bring your body into discipline and live like a believer, that’s what’s going to change a nation.
▶ 4:33 That’s what will change the church. Can I hear an amen? Hallelujah. Isn’t this book good in Daniel? Now, they’re not going to serve nor worship any God except their own God. Is it serving? Worshiping. Serving is what I do out there in the world that the people can see me. Worship also is what I do out in the world and live right so that people know why I live the way I do. And when I come into the house, I worship him. I lift my hands. I pray. I kneel.
▶ 5:24 I do these things that he said to do because in these simple humbling principles comes the power of God. Amen. The reason we don’t lift our hands to be honest is we’re too proud. The reason we won’t dance and shout is we’re too proud or we got sin in our life when we we know we are phonies. But if you got sin in your life, you can still offer the sacrifice, get the present, and get free. See, you’re not hiding it. You’re just being honest. Hallelujah. Now, verse 29. I make a new law. This is the sixth thing that happened here in these results.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV)
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?
— Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:29What law did the king make?
Short answer: Anyone speaking against their God would be cut in pieces—God says turn or burn.
▶ 6:16 I make a law. It’s a new law that anyone that speaks a mist against their God will be cut into pieces and their houses may made a dung hill and no other God can deliver after this sort. And the king did not repent and he didn’t stop serving his gods as we will see later. But he had the he had the Revelation. Is it possible that Jesus can visit people, reveal himself to them, forgive them of their sins? Their born again experience is genuine and then they go and do their own thing. Now, whose fault is it? Is it God’s or them? It’s them. And this once saved, always saved is a bunch of bogus nonsense. See, this king has the right confession, but he is not making Jesus Christ Lord of his life and following the God, the most high God.
▶ 7:14 The Revelation comes, but the obedience isn’t coming. How many you know we got a lot of that in America? Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshhat, and Abednego in the province of Babylon. They got their job back. They got a better job. Their economic problems were changed. Just like that. That’s twice their economic problems have been changed. When they came into Babylon, they had everything taken away. And because of their character, God brought them up. And here they had everything taken away again. And God brought them up. Hallelujah.
▶ 8:08 Didn’t Jesus say, “Seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things, what things?” Clothing, food, shelter will be added to you. Put your priority right. Hallelujah. Now, let me give you the pattern of God correction. A nation correcting a nation in the Bible and in history. You ready? First, there’s a call to improve, to change, to do right with a prediction that ruin is going to come if there’s not a change. All right, you got that? First, there’s a call. Isn’t that what God did to Israel? Brought the prophets, told them to repent, told them to turn or they’re going to go into captivity.
▶ 9:01 Ain’t that right? God comes to the church, and he says, “Turn or burn. Turn or you’re going to wind up in hell and burn.” Ain’t that right? You say, “You don’t have to say it that way.” Well, that’s the way it says it. Turn or burn. But I think I’m okay. It don’t matter what you think. Turn. See, there’s a call to turn. Now, Proverbs 28:4 says, “They that forsake the law praise the wicked, and they that keep the law contend or at war or have a conflict with the wicked.” You see, we are calling when we’re living a righteous life before God.
▶ 9:53 We are a message to everyone around us. And that’s as important as words. But words are important because God uses the spoken word to change people’s lives. So, we have to speak up, but we must back it up with our life. Can I hear an amen? Now, then there’s going to be a collapse, a ruin. Through war, through health, through economy, and through moral destruction. Now, you probably forgot this in your history, but America has gone through a lot of these collapses, okay? Syphilis when they first come to America killed thousands upon thousands of people.
▶ 10:47 Smallpox killed millions. Millions died. See, we’ve forgotten these things. We’ve forgotten that God was involved before bringing people to righteousness. See, if you don’t heed the call, there’s going to be a disciplinary action. We’ve forgotten that chalera killed thousands of people. Yalop fever thousands at different times, different diseases. The uh Spanish flu or influenza killed millions of people worldwide and here in America. AIDS have killed millions worldwide in our generation and over half a million in America.
Scripture in this part
Daniel 3:29 (NKJV)
Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”
— Daniel 3:29 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 6:16What history does he trace?
Short answer: STDs rising since the 1960s, awakenings after the Civil War, drugs stealing peace.
▶ 11:44 Sexually transmitted diseases. We only dealt with three before 1960. Gonorrhea, syphilis, and cle. Now we have 40 different sexually transmitted diseases, and several of them are incurable. And almost every one of your Hollywood stars has one of the incurables. I showed you all that stuff before. Why? Because they’re very permissive. They just do what they want. So, they’re living in agony and pain. And behind all that makeup and lighting that they look so good in the movies, there’s a lot of pain. Why? Because they’re not hearing the call. And then we had uh eight economic failures before the civil war.
▶ 12:45 Recessions, depressions, and panics. Eight of them. You know, recessions and and and depressions and panics are not new to America. There were eight of them. Why? God’s calling. God’s trying to get their attention. He’s trying to correct. Now there is uh seven before World War I and two before World War II and two since or five since then. Five economic times where things were tough in America. See this is not new. Are you with me? This is what he did in the Bible and this is what he’s doing today. Now the calling. You remember the calling. How many have heard of the uh three great awakenings?
▶ 13:39 How many heard of the fourth one? Okay. The first great awakening, God began to stir the people in America through preachers, through his church, through visiting his people. And then came our war for independence. Okay. Then the second great awakening was before the civil war about 20 years before till end of the civil war there was a great awakening and that’s what brought the nation to change the laws of slavery. It was the awakening the spiritual awakening that woke Americans up and said it’s time to do something about this. Are you there? The third one was after the civil war, God trying to get his people now, okay, let’s get back.
▶ 14:36 Let’s get back to righteous things. And then after the civil war, there was another awakening, a move of God that reached its peak at the Isuza revival here in Los Angeles and spread worldwide. It happened in Europe. It also happened in uh Korea and all around the world, but they only talk about Isuza, but it was happening everywhere. And not everybody in these visitations was speaking in tongue. And and the Pentecostals don’t tell you that, but I’m telling you that. And I’m one of them Pentecostal charismatic tongue dogger. You see, it happened to be tongues in Isuza, but it wasn’t in Korea and it wasn’t in Europe and the Welter revival. It was a different move. And when we know we just got to take the move as it comes. The important thing that God moves.
▶ 15:30 Amen. Now, and now the fourth awakening was in the 50s. Billy Graham and all these guys. And in the 60s, in the 60s they come out and said, “God is dead.” So God came in 1968. I was there. I was going doortodoor witnessing. I was there during this one. And God just came to the Presbyterians, the Catholics, the Lutheran, and just filled them with the Holy Ghost and never asked anybody’s permission. And the reason it got my attention cuz ever so often I’d go to a door and they go, “Are you one of them spiritfilled believers?” And I go, “Yeah, come in. Come in. We” And they would share with me this experience in God. And they would say something like, “Boy, we were at this men’s retreat and and something came down through the ceiling or we were in a church service and and and something just you could just feel something filling the sanctuary and I go, man, that’s the Holy Ghost.
▶ 16:33 That’s the spirit of God. That’s the presence of God.” So, I became a popular door-to-d dooror witnesser at that time when they found out who I was. But come on in and boast. Everybody was throwing dish water and vegetables and trash at me. But these people were wanting to know what happened. See, something happened to them. And so the charismatic movement was birthed out of that. And they took the name charismatic because they didn’t want to be attached to the Pentecostals. And it’s the same thing. There’s no difference. Okay? It’s just a fancier word. Then you got the 70s. The hippies come along. Peace. Peace. And if it feels good, do it. They think a world’s going to have peace because they lift up two fingers.
▶ 17:26 Peace. They’re stoned out of their mind with with marijuana and drugs and everything else. And so what did God do? The Jesus people movement. See, this is the fourth awakening. In the 50s, the 60s and the 70s and 80s, God began to move again and call and all these laws started changing homosexuals and abortion and all this stuff and Jesus not accepted in public places and prayer taken out of the church. All we’ve been declining ever since and there’s been a visitation of God calling us back to what? Righteousness. Now we’re in a economic downturn and people don’t like it. We’ve been in a spiritual downturn most of Christians in America for two or three decades and it hasn’t bothered them at all.
▶ 18:24 But don’t touch my wallet. Then 911 came. Were the churches filled after 911? Oh yeah. Made the headlines. Churches were packed. People praying, calling on God. And this is what God said in the Psalms. When I slew them, then they trusted me. They sought me. Folks, why do we got to wait for a calamity to seek our God? Are you understanding all this? Hallelujah. Good. Then there’s a confrontation, a clash. In the Civil War, it was within. The people that chose to do right, they had to take up their arms and fight both to keep the Union in unity and to abolish slavery.
▶ 19:16 It can be from without. In 1917 and uh the World War I, it was from without. World War II was from without. 911 was from within. They got us on our own property, on our own continent, on our own land. But somewhere Christians have to rise up and confront the issue. Even if you’re not a Christian, you have to stand up and confront the immoral issues. There has to be a confrontation. And that’s what’s going to happen. And when I told these people this stuff, they just look at me like, “Where do you get all this? The Bible. The Bible. I haven’t given up on America because I have met a lot of good Christians in America.
Who is righteous?
Short answer: He who does righteousness; he has preached across denominations.
▶ 20:15 Catholics, Presbyterians, Lutheran. I told someone this week, I have preached in every denomination in America. I don’t have denominational barriers and fences and I’m not out trying to propagate my own little theology. And because I crossed over, I met really genuine believers in all areas. And because of the righteous, he’s going to deliver a nation even if they are the minority. But he’ll just do it in a way we don’t like sometimes. Are you there? See, Daniel didn’t like being a unic. It’s implied he’s a unic. Someone reminded me that it’s an implication and it is.
▶ 21:07 It’s a strong implication because Isaiah said that the king’s sons would be carried off to Babylon, go into captivity and become Unix. And he was under the leader of the unic. So, it’s a strong assumption that he was a unic. We can’t find he was married. We can’t find him having any children. And so, he paid a high price, didn’t he? All right. And then there’s the construction or I should say reconstruction, restoration, return of something that was removed or abolished. And what is God always trying to return to? It’s spelled R I G HT. Right. He’s always moving us to what is right.
▶ 22:02 Not to become a better worshipper, a better prayer, get a bigger Bible to carry around, read it more times through the year. He’s calling us to live right. And it’s summed up in two commandments. Love God. Don’t harm do anything to hurt God. And love your neighbor as yourself. Don’t do anything to hurt your neighbor. Don’t do anything to hurt yourself. That’s the call always. And that’s the simplicity of the scriptures. Can I hear an amen? And so those of us who are working on right, we got some flaws in us, but we’re working on right. That’s why repentance is a daily thing and a weekly thing in our life.
▶ 22:54 He that does righteousness is what? Righteous. Oh, duh. I’m righteous by the blood. Well, that’s great. That’s your position, but how’s your condition? John says, you’re righteous because you do what’s right. And then he says, whoever does not practice righteousness is what? Not of God. Neither he that does not love his brother. So, you know, if I’m bringing women into my house, strange women into my house in front of my kids and everything else, sexual immorality and running around with my wife and and going down to the biker bar and, you know, watching the strip teases and all that and drinking and partying, getting my tattoos and all that and yet Jesus, I’m a Jesus boy.
▶ 23:45 No, you’re not. You are a believer. You’re not a receiver. You are a believer. There’s a difference. Did Jesus come to make disciples or believers? Absolutely. The Jews already believed on him. They rejected him. They believed there was a Messiah coming. They believed in God who created the world. But they rejected Christ and righteousness. And he told them, “You of your father the Devil because you do the deeds of the Devil. You do wrong.” They were believers, folks. Get out of this mentality that because you’re a believer, you’re a God’s going to magically watch over your life. He’s looking for receivers of his righteousness and living right.
▶ 24:39 Yes, you’ll make mistakes and stumble, but you get up, admit it, and keep going. Amen. The blood cleanses us always. Rulers are not a terror to good works but to the evil. He is God’s minister for good. He’s an avenger to execute wrath on whom who pract him who practices evil. What is the purpose of civil government? To punish those that hurt others. That’s their job. And to what? Praise and honor those that live right. And what do we have in America? We’re telling the Christians to shut up about Jesus. That’s not right. We’ve taken the Bible out of public schools and prayer out of public schools and public places.
▶ 25:30 That’s not right. They will talk about Muslim and Allah all the time in a real flattering way. So we don’t get the Muslims mad at us and get them thinking that we have a bad opinion.
