Christ left us an example. He is God, kept the commandments, worked as a carpenter, assembled weekly, honored His parents, and always pleased the Father. Whoever abides in Him does not keep sinning; faith comes by hearing and has works behind it.

What have we covered?

▶ Watch this part (0:06)

Short answer: In the last two lessons: where the word Christian came from and how the Antioch disciples lived; now we look at Christ Himself.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 0:06 We’ve been talking about what what is a Christian in our two last lessons we learned about the first of all where Christian the word came from when were we first called Christians and they were called Christians in Antioch and what does it mean to be a Christian we saw what the people in Antioch did their behaviors the choices they made and we want to model that we also learned in last week that Paul said imitate me as I imitate Christ or follow my example as I follow the example of Christ and we were reminded and encouraged by Paul to hold on here to be an example to the believers in word conduct in love in spirit in faith and purity and so when someone meets you as a Christian it’s important that you be an example of what they should do in their lives.

Did Christ leave an example?

▶ Watch this part (1:10)

Short answer: Yes; He suffered for us, leaving an example, enduring the whip and crown of thorns once for all.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 1:10 That’s what we’ve been talking about but today we’re going to continue on and we want to look at Christ. Jesus how did he live how did he behave in 1 Peter 2:21 Christ also also suffered for us leaving us an what example that we should follow his steps so Christians uh the word Christian means we’re like Christ we are following Christ so that’s what this word means and uh Peter here confirms that and says that we follow his steps he also mentions here that Christ suffered for us the song that we just sang said that he is our savior many of us know that but I would just want to reiterate that right now that Jesus Christ died on the cross he was crucified brutally.

▶ 2:16 Crucified for our sin in the New Testament it says that he became the sacrifice once for all Jesus Christ endured horrible beating he endured the cat-o’-nine-tails he was whipped on his back he was beaten and put a a th a crown of thorns on his head they shoved it in his head and they nailed his hands and his feet on the cross and he was innocent because they didn’t like what he. Said and we’re going to find out in a moment why they nailed him to a cross uh it’s part of the first. Commandment if you look at this tree here you see a dying tree and you see a growing tree right and as a Christian you have stages in your life where you believe in Christ you become a disciple and you ultimately become a Christian and beyond Christ there’s more you want to become uh a a warrior for Christ that is a little bit past the Christian right.

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

Dying or growing?

▶ Watch this part (3:33)

Short answer: We should be growing believers; you can tell by someone’s life, like a tree.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 3:33 So uh it’s important that we’re not dying Christians or dying believers but that we are growing amen and you can see the difference when you look at a tree you can tell and when you look at someone’s life you can tell what is going on and and inside but God wants us to be growing. Believers closer and closer to. Him because that’s what the Christian means we’re following him amen and so if you are dying as a believer in your spirit not physically not your body in your spirit it’s time. To make some changes in your life and get back on the path of pursuing God getting closer and growing in God amen amen we don’t want to be a dead tree.

Did Jesus keep the commandments, and is He God?

▶ Watch this part (4:31)

Short answer: The summary is love God; he who has seen Me has seen the Father; the Word was God.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 4:31 Right we’re going to learn here why they crucified Christ um we want to look at Jesus and his uh example and how he followed the ten commandments did he follow the ten commandments and the summary of the ten commandments is to love God and love your neighbor as yourself that’s the summary of the ten commandments the first commandment is I am the Lord your God and I have brought you out of the land of Egypt out of the house house of bondage you shall have no other gods before me and so the Pharisees and the scribes were wrestling with this because Jesus comes and he starts saying some things Jesus says here in Mark 12:29 the Lord our God the Lord is. One John 10:30 Jesus if you see red letters that means jes Jesus said it with his mouth I Jesus said and my father are what.

▶ 5:38 One and there is um people that don’t believe that Jesus is God I remember I wore a shirt one time at work it said Jesus on the front God on the back and had a co-worker been you know Jesus that’s so offensive why don’t you use God I said because Jesus is the reason. Jesus is the one who died for me he put his life on the line and yes he is God as he says here and the Muslims will go on and you can find their videos on youtube you Jesus never said he was God Jesus they have all the things that they say but the disciples said my Lord and my God okay all throughout the scriptures um you know Jesus here is saying is God and that’s what the scribes and the Pharisees are wrestling with and they hated Jesus so much they wanted him killed and they had him.

▶ 6:40 Crucified they came to Jesus his disciples were talking to him and in John 14:8 here it says that they said show us the father it is sufficient for us Jesus said and answered have I been with you so long and yet you have not known me phillip he who has seen me has seen the father so again he is making himself the same with God. Amen John 5:18 the Jews sought to kill him because he said that his God was his father making himself what equal with God so I’m just showing you the scriptures here if you have any doubts you know people are trying to tell you Jesus isn’t God it’s not true these are the scriptures Jesus is God he said he was God uh he didn’t he just didn’t say it in the language you like but the scriptures are here John 1:1 we know this is a very uh.

▶ 7:41 Well-known scripture about God it says in the beginning was the what word the word was with God the word was God and the word became what flesh so it’s talking about the word the word in Psalm 138 it says you have magnified your word above all your name the word of God is so powerful without his word we wouldn’t be here okay because he wouldn’t have spoken us into creation his word is that powerful when he spoke things began to create. Amen and that’s what it is saying here in John 1:1 in the beginning was the word. Uh so the trinity you could add another fourth one on there you got father son Holy Spirit and the what.

What about other gods and treasure?

▶ Watch this part (8:39)

Short answer: Don’t lay up treasures on earth; those desiring riches fall into temptation; don’t let greed become a god.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 8:39 Word Exodus 20:4 the next so the last one was did God did Jesus have other gods that’s a tough one to answer why because Jesus is saying I am God okay I and my father are one but he. Uh the problem is that the scribes and the Pharisees did not believe him and they had him crucified but we today believe in Jesus amen amen Exodus 20:4 the next uh the next one you shall have make no carv you shall not make for yourself a carved image or an idol uh back in those days in the New Testament talks about people making idols images uh for the God of the Ephesians and they had images for what they thought was God in the Old Testament they made a calf and they worshiped that golden calf and that was an idol today we have in Colossians 3:5 we have greed which it says is idolatry so idols can be different things.

▶ 9:52 Right in Matthew 6:19 says do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy but lay up for yourselves treasures in where. Heaven. Um first Timothy helps us understand this a little more in 6 verse 9 how uh and it’s you want to be careful here because just because somebody’s rich does not mean that they are an idolator right just because they’re rich just because of corporations is making a lot of money you know the oil the the the word right right now is that if you’re a rich company if you’re a rich person that you’re bad and that’s being thrown out in in the political world and it’s just not true okay it says here that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil and those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you fall into temptation.

▶ 10:57 Okay uh but you can. And God says that it’s hard for rich people enter the kingdom of God why because they feel like they’re in control of their life and that they don’t need God right so it’s important today that we don’t let greed become an idol Luke 11:2 the next commandment is do not take God’s name in vain and Jesus in red letters here he says our father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name so Jesus did not curse God’s name but he praised his father amen and we should do the same also in Matthew chapter.

What is worship in vain?

▶ Watch this part (11:43)

Short answer: Honoring with lips while teaching men’s rules; God’s law versus man’s law on sexuality and intoxication.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 11:43 159 uh along with taking on the names Lord in vain we have here the Pharisees and the scribes it says Jesus said in vain they worship me in vain they worship me for another reason they’re not worshiping me really genuinely and they teach as doctrines the commandments of men and so they are uh praising me but they’re not following what I say very important and that’s what we can do we can take on God’s name and say yes I am a Christian but we don’t follow him in our actions and that is taking on and worshiping God in vain we don’t want to do. That some examples in the church that we have is that um believers are trying to say that abortion is a women’s right and can be used as a contraceptive see this is a you know if it becomes a law you know california and other states they make these laws right and that’s what it’s saying here we can make the rules of men higher than whose commandments.

▶ 12:57 God’s you know if they make more rules uh believers are promoting homosexuality LGBTQ stuff as acceptable and same-sex but but you look at God what does what does his commandment say no it says we don’t do those things sex outside of marriage is morally acceptable if it’s to consenting adults well if it’s two consenting adults okay no that’s not God’s law right that’s man’s law. Getting drunk and drinking parties intoxication drugs these all these things they have side effects all right you got to remember that and God’s commandments are not just there because he wants to tell you what to do he’s trying to bless your life if you have and you bring intoxication whether it’s drugs or alcohol into your life it’s going to hurt you God cares about you and he’s saying hey you can walk in this way and if you follow the ten commandments you will find that those commandments are not going to bring harm in your life.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Mark 7:6-7 (NKJV)

He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

— Mark 7:6-7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:43

Do the commandments hurt us?

▶ Watch this part (14:07)

Short answer: No; harm comes from breaking them; witchcraft, tarot and seances invite darkness.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 14:07 Amen there is no hurt that comes from following God’s commandments you guys you guys see that but there is hurt there is pain there is harm that comes when we do these things that hurt our lives all right the the same-sex stuff there is harm in that and we’ve got to care about our neighbor here you know when they’re convincing kids to transition and they have no they become sterile they have no way to have kids and they can’t change that’s that’s great harm don’t you think that’s. Hurtful but if we just stick with God’s good old ten. Commandments we be just fine amen.

▶ 15:00 Um witchcraft sorcery psychic reading tarot cards tarot reading whatever they call those things talking to the dead uh seances Ouija board all this stuff it’s not innocent you’re inviting the kingdom of darkness into your life all right and you don’t want to do that this morning we didn’t come to invite the kingdom of darkness in this room we came to invite Jesus Christ the res resurrected king amen he says where two or three are gathered whose name are we gathered in today yeah you can’t go over to the kingdom of darkness when you get home and be like all right I had my Jesus time now I’m going to have my Satan. Time it doesn’t make sense you can’t be serving two masters. Right so you know keep those things out of your life and especially if you want to have authority over the kingdom of darkness you got to be in God’s kingdom you can’t have your foot in both places you know if somebody comes and they have a demon and they’re possessed if you got your foot in both places you’re not going to have any authority over the kingdom of darkness.

What about heaviness?

▶ Watch this part (16:18)

Short answer: Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 16:18 Amen and also as we prayed this morning praising God is so important I have put on my garment of praise I have put on my garment of praise. I have put on my garment of praise and the spirit of heaviness is gone from me that’s a scripture it’s not just a song uh those songs they s sang back there actually were scriptures and they’re truth and I’ve experienced it in my life and many of us have amen can anybody give an amen to that one when you praise God you can you can beat back darkness and get that spirit of heaviness off you right. Amen so we don’t want to take God’s name in vain we’re here to lift up his name amen and lifting up his name has great benefits in your life uh where is my uh my medication commercial you know up here we have a commercial for praising God the side effects are uh God will defeat the enemy in your life there’s all these side of you know at the end they say it really.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)

To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

— Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 16:18

Did Jesus work?

▶ Watch this part (17:27)

Short answer: Yes; enjoying the fruit of labor is God’s gift; isn’t this the carpenter?

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 17:27 Quickly the side effects are that God will beat the enemy in your life God cares for. You and we got to follow his commands over the worlds and we are dealing with that in our country today okay Jesus Christ and the Sabbath now when you think about this commandment the fourth commandment you may forget the other part of it it says remember the Sabbath and keep it holy so one of the things is you know when you go on your day off you keep it holy you okay you have a choice are you going to go live it up in sin or are you going to use it as a day of rest and keeping it holy uh also says six days shall you labor and do all your work and back then they’re like of course I’m going to work today it’s kind of like well I can just get a check from somebody they people are handing out free stuff and I don’t have to work but that’s not true right and of course there’s some exceptions if you are disabled or you you got veterans coming from they they don’t have legs but they still want to work it’s important that we work all right it is.

▶ 18:46 Biblical Ecclesiastes 3:13 every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of his labor or her labor amen fruits of our labor it is what the what gift of God can you believe that working is a gift no the fruits of your labor is a gift right so uh when they would plant and they would harvest that’s the fruit of their labor and they would enjoy the good and we can enjoy the good of our labor amen you get off of work what am I going to do oh I want to have I want to have something nice nice tonight and you can do that why because you were what. Working and I encourage you young people.

▶ 19:40 Um the Bible says that without a progressive vision we dwell carelessly you don’t want to just be careless in your future okay set a goal find a job skill that you can learn and uh pursue it find one that pays good pursue it that way you can enjoy the fruits of your labor Mark chapter 6:3 isn’t this the carpenter man in four words it says so much Jesus was a carpenter and he built things and he worked and he made money. Right Jesus Christ our example that’s what we’re talking about today he. Worked he worked can you believe that he didn’t just call say all right father uh send down the burgers please send down the grapes I don’t need to do nothing I’m just going to sit here in my house command everybody to get stuff for me uh Mary mother the lady who bore me I need something.

▶ 20:45 Today Jesus didn’t do that if you want to be great in the kingdom what what do we do become a servant of all Jesus served he worked and he would was a servant. Amen we got to get away from this idea that um work is a bad. Thing and we can get negative about work oh it’s Monday I hate. Mondays um but work is important remember the scriptures say whatever you do do it wholeheartedly whatever work you’re in do it wholeheartedly as unto the Lord Luke 4:16 as his custom was his his routine Jesus would go to the synagogue on the Sabbath day so here he was he was following the word on the Sabbath he was uh keeping that command and uh the scribes and Pharisees would get upset at Jesus for healing on the Sabbath and they said oh you can’t do you can’t do.

Did Jesus assemble?

▶ Watch this part (21:49)

Short answer: Yes, weekly, like Antioch and Paul; Christians have lost sight of assembling.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 21:49 That but Jesus was assembling and just like the church of Antioch just like Paul Jesus Christ would assemble once a week and that’s why it’s important uh Christians have lost sight of assembling at the church and and and being faithful it’s very important Luke chap 2 verse. 48 Mary said why have you done this to us your father and I have sought you an anxiously so Mary and Joseph took Jesus on a trip to Jerusalem uh to sacrif I can’t remember why but Jesus got lost or they lost Jesus. Right and they’re looking for Jesus Mary and Joseph and uh they can’t find him they finally find him and they ask him where did you go what are you thinking and Jesus said why did you seek me do you not know that I must be about my father’s business so he’s reminding them cuz maybe they forgot not that he’s the son of God that his father is.

Did Jesus honor His parents?

▶ Watch this part (23:03)

Short answer: He was subject to Mary and Joseph; obey your parents in the Lord.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 23:03 God in heaven and he’s got to respect his father too I’ve got to be about my father’s business but it says to scriptures later that he went down with Mary and Joseph and was what subject to them if you have parents that are decent parents it’s important that we obey our parents it says obey your parents in the Lord we may not like our parents all the time parents can be frustrating parents can you know and I’m sure it’s all the parents’ fault. Right uh that’s how that’s how as young people see things oh my gosh my parents my parents. Uh but we got to we got to respect we got to love you know if parents are asking you to throw the trash out or do the dishes and maybe you have to do more than your friend has to do it doesn’t matter all right they’re not asking you to sell drugs you know parents they’re out there teaching their kids to sell drugs they’re teaching their kids to fight they’re giving them drugs and alcohol that kind of stuff is no you don’t have to obey because it says obey your parents in the Lord but when parents are asking you to do simple things uh we have a duty as uh their children to respect amen and Jesus did it he was our example now do us young people do that all the time no.

Did He please the Father?

▶ Watch this part (24:36)

Short answer: I do as My Father taught Me; this is My beloved Son.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 24:36 Right and uh that’s that’s okay but let’s let’s get back to following Christ’s example. Amen Jesus read letters this is him talking now John 8:28 he says I do as my father taught me so he’s listening to his father’s teaching he says uh Jesus said only what he sees the father he only does what he sees the father doing so before he became flesh you know Jesus and God are the same and God is doing all this stuff on earth and he’s trying to reach people and uh you know he does what the f what he sees his father doing John 5:30 I do not seek my own will but the will of the father who sent me whose will are we seeking do we seek our own will or are we seeking the father’s will.

▶ 25:29 I always do those things that please the father John 8:29 Matthew 17:5 and even before this when Jesus was first baptized before he even started his ministry a voice came from heaven when he was baptized and said this is my beloved. Son in whom I am well pleased he hear him amen Jesus Christ lived a life that pleased God and so the question that we must answer is are we willing to live a life that is pleasing to God. Amen do we want to do our own will or are we willing to do God’s will.

Must we keep the commandments?

▶ Watch this part (26:30)

Short answer: The rich man asked what to do for eternal life; Jesus listed the commandments: don’t steal, lie or defraud.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 26:30 Matthew 19:16 I bring up the ten commandments and how Jesus followed them because Jesus is our example and we there is a teaching out there that we don’t have to follow God’s commandments and that we’re no longer under law we’re under grace so I don’t need to follow I don’t need to read the ten commandments anymore I don’t need to follow them I’m just following them now because I have I have faith or I’m by the spirit I’m f. I’m trying to show right now the proof the evidence here Jesus followed it and we should too Matthew chapter.

▶ 27:09 19:16 the rich man came to Christ and said what good thing shall I do that I might have eternal life so here we go he’s talking about the goal you may live your life for 70 plus years but we are all going to what we’re all going to die and how many of you want eternal life I do I want eternal life I want to live eternally with God so he’s asking Jesus this question and Jesus replies and he says if you want to enter into life so first of all there is an eternal life right okay that’s the question that atheists have they say oh you just go to dust no that’s not what Jesus said he says there is a eternal life and if you want to enter that life what keep the commandments and then he ask which ones and Jesus starts to speak and say them you shall not murder so where does he get this one he’s getting it from the ten commandments so Jesus is quoting the ten commandments he’s not saying some scripture or saying some new thing he’s talking about the ten commandments you shall not murder nothing wrong with that you shall not commit adultery nothing wrong with that in fact if you keep that it will be a blessing to your life you shall not steal nothing wrong with that you know let’s not steal from each other.

▶ 28:40 Right let’s not steal from Walmart and the store and whatever you know it’s not uh h what are they free 99 the five finger discount they used to say when I was a kid yeah it’s the five finger discount. Just grab it you shall not bear false witness. Lie honor your father your mother and in Mark 10:19 do not defraud do not deceive do not covet uh he replaces uh Jesus says do not defraud don’t cheat your neighbor don’t swindle don’t take advantage of don’t take advantage of your spouse your children your parents do not defra. Br u in spouses we we commit to one another and we we cut we get up there and we say our our.

▶ 29:36 Vows right and then five years later we don’t even do anything in those vows you know we got a couple getting married soon and they’re going to have to decide if they’re going to keep their vows and what they said they would do and then people will be like well I I didn’t mean that kind of love I commit to love you and no no my definition no wait a second here we’re going to follow the love as it’s stated in the Bible and that’s why it’s so important you got to follow. Truth it’s not about following somebody’s opinion it’s about following God’s. Truth Luke chap 2313 Pilate said having examined him Jesus in your presence I have found what no fault in this man 1 John 3:5 in him there is no sin first Peter.

▶ 30:39 2:22 he says who committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth so these scriptures are just confirming Jesus Christ was I have this little lamb up here because uh the Revelations talk talks about the lamb of God there’s a song song about the scroll how does it go again who was worthy to open the scroll. Yes there stood a lamb there stood a lamb who was worthy to open the scroll there stood a lamb and Jesus is that lamb he is that spotless sacrifice that was uh laid down his life for us once for. All um and this is important because you know people make movies people make statements and they’ll come out and say oh I sin just like everybody else and they’ll say that Jesus was a sinner it’s like no you got to go to the source of truth amen the source of truth is.

▶ 31:43 Important Peter was a witness and so was John and they are saying these things 1 John 3:6 whoever abides in him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen him nor known. Him and this scripture reminds us that it’s important what are you abiding in what do you associate with what are you spending your time in do you do you keep your distance from God or do you abide in him do you make him a priority every day in your life or is he not in your life at all and that’s abiding in God in.

▶ 32:40 Jesus and when we reject his word and we sin and do these things uh it’s he’s saying we have neither seen him nor known him it’s important to know God little children let no one deceive you he who practices is righteousness is righteous uh doctors they have what’s called a practice right when they come out of a medical school the doctors don’t know everything I remember going and I had uh some rash on my skin and the guy the doctor’s trying to figure out what it is and I’m like I I know what this is in my head he doesn’t know what it is and he’s going to start giving me this and that giveing me all these kind of prescriptions and I was like this is poison oak and he’s like oh. Okay you know they’re just practicing but you know when we practice right God is saying but but we call them what doctors they’re practicing right they’re practicing medicine but I still call them what a doctor and when you’re practicing righteousness you may not get it right all the time you’re practicing how to do right you may mess up but when you’re practicing we still call them what Christians we’re still practicing righteousness we’re we’re righteous and that’s how God sees you.

▶ 34:09 Okay it’s not just that uh God has pinned you with the word righteous and you can live in sin oh I’m righteous because God put it on my little pin here I have a label it says righteous you’re not righteous because you have a sticker on your shirt. Right and that’s how people are interpreting the scriptures and saying oh here’s your righteous label I’m righteous. Now John is clarifying here he’s saying who who practices righteousness is righteous he who sins is of the Devil it’s basically just saying who are you modeling after are you modeling yourself after Christ as we’ve learned in the few last few slides Christ was following the ten commandments are you going to mod yourself after the kingdom of darkness and who is the king of that kingdom.

▶ 35:03 Satan very consistent he us sins is of the Devil so we you have to decide which way you’re going to start heading. Right John chapter 8:11 Jesus said go and sin no more now of course we know we mess up we know that we sin we have an advocate with the father but Christ is giving us the goal and that is sin no more. And uh we can’t use the excuse all our life all right doesn’t take 30 years it doesn’t take forever to make progress Christ his cross is powerful and he can equip you to begin changing and changing quickly therefore if anyone is in Christ he’s a new creation the old has come the new is here God’s goal is to transform you and that’s what this is saying abiding in him being in him him is a it transforms you you’re a new creation and we want to become that new creation we have a b beautiful picture up here there’s a sunset.

Why two banks?

▶ Watch this part (36:10)

Short answer: A river needs two banks or it floods.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 36:10 And a beautiful river you guys see that river up there the river has two banks and a river if a river doesn’t have two banks if only has one what happens you have a flood right and a flood destroys things so you have two banks and the first bank that we’ve been learning is that we have faith in uh in Christ. Right by grace we are saved through faith not by worse l any man should boast but on the other side of the river we have Jesus Christ in red letters saying keep my what commandments we have faith in Christ and on the other side we also keep his commandments and that makes a beautiful river coming down from God and that will bless your life and bless people also keeping his commands is faith because when you keep his commands it implies through your actions that you trust that what he says is true and that you’re willing to follow.

▶ 37:23 It so. Christians we must must follow the example of Christ. Amen Jesus is our example as we’ve learned and there’s more scriptures I didn’t provide there’s more proof and there’s more things that we can follow Jesus in but I wanted to just clearly show that Christ follow the ten commandments we should too and he says that we should. Um we want to follow his example and be Christians a Christian is somebody who comes from belongs to is involved with and acts like speaks like the person like Christ right Christ obeyed his father and his father’s teachings just as we are to obey him and his teachings I’m going to ask for the communion to be handed out we’re going to take communion this.

What do we do?

▶ Watch this part (38:23)

Short answer: Faith comes by hearing, with works behind it; abide in His love; Christ died for us.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer), likely Michael Silla

▶ 38:23 Morning Mr. Thompson would you help me with that. So what do we do in Romans chapter 10 verse 17 says first of all faith comes by hearing so first we must believe and hearing by the word of God we don’t just believe anything we believe what the word of God next working with faith together with his works by works faith was made perfect so we have faith but like Abraham he had faith enough to go up on top of that mountain and do what God asked him to do and his faith uh.

▶ 39:29 He he had works behind his faith amen the people that came to Jesus they had to get up from where they were they had to come where Jesus was right so it wasn’t just believing in their head they actually they’re they’re step they they got up and did something with that faith John 15:5 I am the vine you are the branches abide in me it’s important that we abide in God and and as we said earlier what are we spending our time with what are we investing our time our effort our resources what are we putting it into what are we associating with are we associating with the kingdom of darkness are we spending of all our time doing what the world does um and I’m not talking about work work is a good thing I’m talking about you know all of our extra time where where are we putting that.

▶ 40:25 Amen John chapter 15:10 abide in his love Romans 5:8 says that Christ uh died for us that cross and his death on that cross is very important it’s his love for us and we we have that with us going all the way to eternal life right in John chapter 14:21 he who has my commandments and keeps them it is he who loves me so God is asking us this morning do we love him do we want to abide in him do we want to spend our time with. Him so before we take communion let’s read the scriptures this morning will you stand with me as we get ready to take communion. Together we’re going to take the bread first I’m going to ask somebody to pray for the bread.
