In Revelation, Christ is the one who does: He holds the keys, cleanses His church to be without spot or wrinkle, gathers a harvest from every nation, prays that we be one, and alone opens the scroll. Our part is to respond—worship, open the door, and let Him finish us.

What does Christ do with the keys?

▶ Watch this part (26:55)

Short answer: Continuing in Revelation: He opens what no one shuts and shuts what no one opens—God is in control.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 26:55 Thank you. Jesus. You may find your seats this morning we’re going to continue in Revelations this morning we were learning about who Christ is and what he gives and today we’re going to learn about what he does. And what he wants to do. Amen. Jesus has some plans for his church.

▶ 27:48 Writer I’m a little loud can you turn turn me down in the main. Jesus has plans for his church. We learn here in the scriptures we’re going to learn here in the scriptures that Jesus is in charge Jesus is the builder. And he went he wants a great harvest. And he wants unity. He also opens. Jesus opens I’m not going to tell you what that is yet but we’ll learn in a few minutes here. Jesus has great plans for his people and for his church. In Revelations chapter 5 verse 5 says the lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals Revelations 3:7 says he who has the key of David who opens and no one shuts and shuts and no man opens.

▶ 28:49 You he can’t open what he has shot and we can’t shut what he has opened if God doesn’t want to do something or use something it’s not going to work if you try to use it. If God has backed off of healing. No matter what you do it’s not going to happen if God’s not going to heal you’re not going to work him up to heal. When he shuts the door the door shuts. And when he opens the door you can’t close. These spiritual gifts the spiritual gifts of God are just a means to the goal God heals people because he wants to show that he is the king of kings and the Lord of lords. It is the means is the goal they are not the goal Jesus Christ is the goal amen and everything in the Old Testament and every all the examples they point to him.

▶ 29:53 But that does not mean that we give up on what the scriptures say and what Paul wrote to come in and prophesy and do not forbid the speaking of tongues and we want spirit the spirit of God to come in the service the scriptures say we’re two or three are gathered there he is in our midst so we exercise the principles the same the same principles amen. Revelation chapter 118 I am he who lives was dead and behold I am alive forevermore I have the keys of hades and of death. People are also under the impression that God is just out to heal us of all our sicknesses and provide for all our needs and bless them to give them gifts you know they’ll stop and they’ll want something from the God and they’ll stop and say oh Jesus Lord I pray that you give me this this thing that I want oh Lord Jesus my car is is not as nice as the new car that I see there I want that new car uh you know we asked for things like God is just you know there to give us stuff.

▶ 31:02 And we have to remember that God is in control he has the keys he is prevailed to open the scroll he shuts doors and opens doors he is in control. And we have to get back to serving Christ regardless of whether or not we get what we think we should have. Amen. He has the authority and he does what he pleases. If God doesn’t answer my prayer then I can’t believe in him that’s not the way it works. Jesus God is God regardless of you whether you believe in him or not regardless or whether or not he answers your prayer he’s still God. He does what he pleases now he cares about us for sure yes. Him having the keys and having control also means that your eternal destination whether you’re going to heaven or hell is in the hands of Jesus Christ and not anyone else there is no man on earth that is going to get you into heaven there is no church or organization that will get you in to heaven it’s not your intelligence.

What authority does Christ have?

▶ Watch this part (32:18)

Short answer: All access and all authority—like full permissions in his line of work.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 32:18 It is Christ Jesus. He has all access and all authority in my line of work you’ve given permission to access something and you have permissions to change everything Jesus has all access. To everything so we it’s important to go to him he is in charge. Jesus Christ is the builder. In Ephesians chapter 5 25 says that Christ loved the church and gave himself for. For her that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word so we learn here that just like God so loved the world that he sent his only son into the world to die for our sin that whoever believes in him would not perish he also loves who the church us.

What is His goal for the church?

▶ Watch this part (33:17)

Short answer: To sanctify and cleanse her—a church without spot or wrinkle, built on the rock.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 33:17 And he wants to sanctify set us apart from the world he is going to cleanse us it’s not just uh. It’s not a one-time thing people in the church they need cleansing they need repentance they need forgiveness we mess up we make mistakes amen but we can turn from them people in the Bible made all kinds of mistakes made serious mistakes and God cleansed them and brought them out from it. Through the washing of water by the word the word of God cleanses the word of God transforms. That he might present her to himself a glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing but that she should be holy and without blemish so we see here that there is a goal that God has for his church.

▶ 34:12 That is the ultimate goal for the church the church is supposed to be or will be a church without spot or wrinkle a church that is holy a church that was without blemish that is sanctified cleansed by the word of God God has a great goal for us. And for his church. And he’s going to build this church and he’s he’s not coming back until it is done and that’s why we keep hearing you know keep your eye on the church how is the church doing how does the church look that is your key indicator if the church is full of spots if your church is unholy if the church is full of sin Jesus is not coming back anytime soon.

▶ 35:06 That’s why you keep your eye on the church amen. Matthew 16:18 on this rock Jesus Christ I will build my church now he was talking to Peter if you remember Peter mean the name means rock so he said your name is Peter but on this rock who is Christ. We also know him as the cornerstone the chief cornerstone I will build my church he’s going to build the church on himself and the gates of hell shall not prevail there is no darkness there is no enemy that’s going to prevail he is going to build his church no matter what comes no matter what kingdom on earth no matter what government no matter how much uh military might a country has it’s not going to stop the building of his church.

▶ 36:17 Revelation 19:7 the marriage of the lamb has come and his wife has made herself ready unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain that build it Psalms 127 verse 1. Important to recognize here that the his wife the church has made herself ready ready we are involved in this process we have a part to play amen we have to respond to God’s calling to change to sanctify to cleanse to be washed by the water of the word we have to respond to. His work in our lives. If you remember those famous words on the cross he said it is finished.

▶ 37:09 And when Jesus came. Before that before time began God made plans to die and when he lived he fulfilled scripture every day as prophesied in the Old Testament he couldn’t just say the Holy Spirit has come upon me to heal the broken heart to set at liberty those who are captive no he actually had to do it and he fulfilled it when he was here on earth it wasn’t just a scripture he quoted no he came and he did it and when he died on that cross the Bible says that the books could not contain all of the things that Jesus had done when he died on that cross he said it is finished I came and took me 33 years but I did when I set out to do I did what was planned before time began and Jesus rose from the grave and now what is the next goal the next thing is the marriage of the lamb and he wants to finish something and what is that he wants to finish his church.

What harvest is He after?

▶ Watch this part (38:24)

Short answer: A great harvest from all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues—pray for laborers.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 38:24 Amen he wants to finish us. It’s beautiful. Matthew 9:38. Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest Jesus has more goals here he is the Lord of the harvest and he wants to bring in a great harvest Revelation 7 verse 9 after these things I look behold a great multitude which no one could number of all nations tribes peoples and tongues standing before the throne before the lamb clothed with white robes. So in this scripture we recognize that there is a great multitude in Revelations chapter 7 verse 9 it’s this is you know he’s given us a picture of the end there’s a great mall to do that no one can number.

▶ 39:18 Of all nations he’s telling us where they’re coming from all nations tribes peoples and tongues. Standing before the throne. God is after a big and great harvest Matthew 24:40 two men will be in the field one will be taken and the other left two women will be grinding one will be taken and the other left. We have about seven billion people in the world and that’s growing and half of that would be 3.5 billion and if it gets to 8 billion half of that would be 4 billion we got about you know close to 2 billion Christians so that means what God is after more people and not just that. He’s after he’s at the end that this church is going to be without spot or wrinkle how many no that’s going to be uh.

▶ 40:15 Half. If he gets half of the world that’s going to be a beautiful church and the world is going to recognize that church. That’s going to be a powerful powerful thing you’re going to take notes the whole world’s gonna know this is half this is going on there is a spotless bribe there is a people without blemish there is a people that has been cleansed that has been washed by the way wow. Beautiful. God is after a great harvest. And a lot of folks are very hyped up about him coming back and if we are hyped up about him coming back let’s get hyped up about the things that he wants to accomplish he wants to bring in a great harvest he wants to as we learned.

What did Jesus pray for?

▶ Watch this part (41:11)

Short answer: That we would be one—like the early church in one accord around His truth, not around sin.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 41:11 What did I just say he wants to build the church amen. So let’s get involved in the things that he wants to do John 17:11. Jesus Christ on his knees before he was crucified. Knowing that he was going to be crucified he prayed in the garden of gethsemane and he said father keep through thine own name those now got king James here that they may be one as we are so he prays for his church his disciples that they would be one and 1721 he repeats the same thing he says that they all may be one as you father are me and I and you. And in 22 he repeats it again and he says I have the glory which you have given me I have given them that they may be what one.

▶ 42:08 Just as we are one Jesus Christ says the same thing how many times three times. How many know when Jesus says three some three times it he wants it to happen in Romans chapter 8 34 it says he that Jesus is at the right hand of God and he makes intercession for us and we see here what is he praying what are the kinds of things he’s praying for he is praying at the church would be what one that the church would be united he’s up there right now and he’s praying for that that the church would be united. If you want insight into the things that he prays for this is the kind of thing he prays for he showed us.

▶ 43:05 In Acts 2:46. Continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of art we had unity the church was at one point united. Amen we see it here in acts and again in Acts 4:32 the multitude who believe were of one heart and one soul so much that uh. They would share their possessions they treated each other like family hey you’re going through the front they were all working they were all involved they all worked hard some people had more some people had a lot less and the people had it more treated each other like family it was that united. You know they weren’t you didn’t have people in there that were just trying to uh.

▶ 44:00 Get money from people for their own gain no no they were united in one heart they were after the goal people were working hard and some people had a lot of money and they helped those who did not. First Corinthians 1:10 I plead with you that you speak the same thing that there be no divisions among you that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Paul is writing to the corinthian church and he’s reminding them to speak the same thing why because already at this time they are already getting divided oh I was I was baptized by Paul or I was baptized by apollos so you already have this little division going on but the word is the same as the prayer that Jesus prayed. Paul is confirming what Jesus said that we need to stay united.

▶ 44:54 And God is asking us are we interested in united with God’s people around his truth you can’t just unite around God’s people for sin you can’t unite around God’s people for wrong we’ve got to unite around the truth are we interested in this great harvest that he has. That he is after are we interested in uh being formed and molded and letting Christ build our lives are we interested in the things he is interested in Ephesians chapter 4 verse 4 there is one body one spirit one Lord one faith one baptism one God amen. It’s all one there’s we should not be all separated like we are. Haggai chapter 2 verse 9 the glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former says the Lord and in this place I will give peace in Haggai chapter 29 2 verse 9 he’s reminding us that.

▶ 46:00 Everything that was at the beginning the latter church is going to be greater than the former so did we have a lot of unity at the beginning well the latter church that is coming is going to be more united than it was before the latter church that is coming is going to be built more by Christ than it was before I you look at that I tell you right now you think in your in our minds that would be impossible right in your mind you think that’s not going to happen amen. But Christ as we know is the God of the impossible and he can do it. Revelations chapter 5 verse 1 Jesus Christ he opens this is what Christ does I saw a strong angel proclaiming who is worthy to open the scroll to lucid seals.

Who can open the scroll?

▶ Watch this part (46:53)

Short answer: Only the Lamb—until God opens His word, it is just a story in your head.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 46:53 And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and to look at it. In the midst in chapter in verse 6 it says in the midst of the others stood what a lamb there stood a lamb there stood. As though it had been slain then he came and took the scroll out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And they said and they sang a new song you are worthy to take the scroll and to open what it seals. Where’s oh man I had a Bible up here where did that Bible go. Who’s got a Bible throw me a Bible. For you were slain and have redeemed us to God thank you by your blood out of every tribe tongue people and nation he has made us kings and priests to our God we shall reign on earth Jesus Christ opens.

▶ 47:58 And has power to loose the seals you can go to the store and buy one of these bibles anybody can they’re available Bible’s most printed book in the whole world five billion more copies it’s the greatest book the world has seen. Anybody can get it but not anybody can lose the seals the hidden understanding that is in the scriptures who is worthy Christ Jesus. And when you’re praying and when you’re coming for God and you read the scriptures you need to ask for Christ to open up the word of God to you you need to ask the spirit of God to speak to you through Isaiah through Jeremiah and you know those are tough books. You need to ask God to speak to you through Psalms and Proverbs you need to ask God to speak to you in Joshua in Genesis and not all these books we need God to open up his word to us amen.

▶ 49:06 Because you can go home today you can read your Bible and you read it oh my gosh there it is oh the story okay I got it it’s in my head. But until God opens it up it’s not real it’s not living and it’s not powerful. And we need it to be amen. You know I don’t know I I think I need to retract that statement it’s it’s hard it’s hard you can’t put the word of God in you and not get something out the word never returns void amen so maybe I need her to change what I just said there but still Jesus. Is worthy to open up the word of God to loose the seals he is the one who is worthy to open up the word of God to us amen John chapter 16 verse 13 the spirit of truth has come he will guide you into all truth he will not speak on his own authority but whatever he hears he will speak see Jesus is up there he’s going to tell hey brother Holy Spirit go tell those guys this thing go open up the word to them go loose this part to them and the Holy Spirit comes and he’s going to come to us and be like hey this is what it means this is this is this understand it do you get it.

▶ 50:19 Amen. He’s gonna he’s got he’s worthy to open those things up to us. We have to have what an ear to hear what the spirit is saying to us. The word of God is living and powerful. Sharper than any two-edged sword Christ and the spirit they make it living they make it powerful. And the word of God is just powerful in itself. It’s just powerful. So how did heaven respond. How does heaven respond to Christ Jesus. How does heaven respond to all the things that he is wanting to get done Revelations 4:9.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Revelation 5:1-6 (NKJV)

And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

— Revelation 5:1-6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 46:53

How do we respond?

▶ Watch this part (51:17)

Short answer: Bow and worship like the elders; open the door when He knocks; let Christ be formed in you.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Michael Silla

▶ 51:17 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne who lives forever the 24 elders they would what they would fall down. Before him who sits on the throne and they what worship. Jesus. God on the throne who lives forever and ever they cast their count crowns before the throne saying. Thou art worthy o Lord to receive glory and honor and power you have created all things what were we singing holy all creation cries. For thy pleasure they are and were created we. Are here because God.

▶ 52:10 Wants us to be here he does things as he pleases he heals who he pleases he does what he pleases when he pleases. But God he wants his people he wants us amen he is after a great harvest he is after his church. But be careful when you start debating God and telling him oh you should do this and you’re not you got to give me this you got to give me that no no no no Jesus does what he wants to do amen. Proverbs 27:2 let another man praise you and not your own mouth these elders they.
