Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
The Spirit of the Lord turns us into another person. Saul received a new heart but rejected it to please people; David prepared as a shepherd, was anointed, and became a wise man of war whose praise drove out distressing spirits. Seek the Spirit to transform you.

Scripture in this part
Psalm 95:1-3 (NKJV)
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods.
— Psalm 95:1-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:00 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What exhortation is given before the message?
Short answer: Even Jesus at the transfiguration and in Gethsemane was ministered to and prepared for what He would go through.
▶ 26:04 Great it’s so powerful oh but listen we’ll even all that power transfiguration his garment showed like the sun is like Moses when he came all his mouth and then most life appeared to him not to make him anything great. They came to tell him what he’s going to go through when he went to Jerusalem. He knew beforehand. Just like mary didn’t know but it was told her that when Jesus was crucified then everything that was told her came to pass. And didn’t stop there alone the Bible says when Jesus was in that garden. Wept straight drops of blood like great drops of blood come and flow out. The father beth I will let this cup let that me will that you want for me for hats.
▶ 27:03 And he said no no not my will but thy will be done but I didn’t stop there it says angel an angel came and ministered to him prepared him for what he was going to go through and nothing compared to his sacrifice nothing compared to what he went through he went right through it right to that cross and he said those two great things that always will ring through history he said father forgive him for they don’t know what they’re doing. And then he said the greatest words in the world it is finished it’s finished it’s done. Then when he rose from the dead those disciples not just the twelve but all the disciples. Came through and he does something he opened their understanding of the scripture they understood now what he was talking about then in the upper room they received that power to serve him and not one of those disciples.
▶ 28:04 Never turn back they went right on even if it cost their life because they had known Jesus better than ever known him before because he did that work opening their minds in their hearts amen hallelujah the state church near this word Jesus was the greatest he was God of the flesh but he too needed to be ministered he too needed to be told what to do and how to do it and what he was going to go through it so likewise we have to prepare ourselves to be a people that reduce ourselves a decrease that he would increase and that he would be the goal and purpose. Of our lives. Thank you Jesus. Jesus.
Scripture in this part
Luke 22:42-43 (NKJV)
saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
— Luke 22:42-43 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 27:03What is prayed?
Short answer: A commitment to follow and serve Jesus wholeheartedly, like the disciples.
▶ 28:58 Lord God we coming for you this morning we commit to following you Jesus Lord we commit to serving you wholeheartedly God Lord like the disciples did God we commit ourselves to being disciplined ones Lord disciples of the king of kings and the Lord of lords Jesus. We thank you for this time of worship we thank you for coming and visiting visiting us being in our midst Lord Jesus Lord we pray Lord that you continue to speak to us God Lord we pray that you’d open up our ears and we pray also that us in this room that we would have an ear to hear what the spirit has to say to us this morning we thank you Lord Jesus your precious name everyone said amen you may find your seats this morning. When we go into church.
Why go to God’s house?
Short answer: To be effective—know your goal; the Lord is the Spirit, and He wants to change us.
▶ 29:55 When we go into God’s house we want it to be effective as possible we don’t want to go into God’s house just as a formality or as going after something that the church isn’t meant to be for. So it’s very important to know what you’re going in the house of God for what is your goal because it needs to match up with God’s goals. God’s goals for the church God’s goals for you. Last week we talked about going up the statement that was made by the in Micah chapter four or five he said let come let us go up to the house of the Lord the tops of the mountains he will teach us and we will walk in his ways and all these wonderful things this morning we’re going to talk about being made into another man another person another woman.
▶ 30:53 Whoever you are. Last week we brought out this scripture in second Corinthians 3:17 says the Lord is the spirit and we want to stop and recognize Jesus Christ who was created at the beginning of time the first of God’s creation you have the father you have Jesus there and it now says the Lord is what spirit where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty there’s freedom. We all with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory just as by the spirit of the Lord. And so we understand that the spirit is transforming us it’s there to transform us so when you come into church when you have your relationship with Christ our goal should be to connect with the spirit of God to receive the spirit of God so that spirit will what transform us.
Scripture in this part
2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV)
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
— 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 30:53 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What happened to Saul?
Short answer: He was chasing donkeys when Samuel anointed him: the Spirit will come upon you and you will be turned into another man.
▶ 32:01 God wants to change us Saul in the Bible king Saul who was before he was king says that he was handsome. All the ladies would swoon when he walked by he was tall tall dark and handsome he was from a mighty family. And he was chasing donkeys. The Bible doesn’t say he was doing anything great uh at that time you know he was probably just listening to his dad his dad kish was mr he was mr awesome he was great man. But Saul he was just tall. And he was sent out to go get the donkeys you know we lost some donkeys go get him he’s like okay I’m gonna go get the donkeys.
▶ 32:55 But Samuel met him God told Samuel go to Saul and anoint him king and it says in first Samuel 10 verse 6 that the spirit of the Lord will come upon you you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man and also other things he said as well. But I’m bringing this up because we want to know and we want proof in the scriptures that the spirit of the Lord is what we need and that it will change us. We need it to come upon us and the effects of the spirit coming upon us says you will prophesy will be turned into another man we need to be turned transformed into another person even at our age even where we’re at right now we need transformation.
Scripture in this part
1 Samuel 10:6 (NKJV)
Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.
— 1 Samuel 10:6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 32:55 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How do we receive the Spirit?
Short answer: Repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit—though God can change His order.
▶ 33:48 Young people you guys need transformation older people we need transformation middle where you know my age we need transformation. The spirit of the Lord will come upon you in Acts chapter 2 verse 38 repent and be baptized and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit this is Peter talking. And this is after the Holy Spirit came and filled and like a mighty wind and filled the people for the promises to all who are afar off and as many as the Lord will uh. That’s us we’re afar off right. We are 2 000 plus years later after this event. And that gift of the Holy Spirit is for us it’s for you it’s for me we’re not excluded it’s not an event that happened long ago and uh doesn’t include us no it includes us today.
▶ 34:50 And it’s very simple repent be baptized if you’ve been baptized the next step you can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit if you’ve repented and God you know he does he he can mess around with his order of things okay you know don’t act like I can’t get the spirit if I haven’t been God can you know he can change everything but let’s follow the pattern repent turn from sin get water baptized get the Holy Spirit it’s for you it’s a promise Jesus said I s it’s it’s the promise of my father is the spirit of God coming and filling you the same spirit that moved on the face of the waters in Genesis 1:1. If you remember in Genesis it talks about the spirit coming. The same spirit that fell in the day of Pentecost as it says above the Lord is spirit the same spirit will come upon us and we need to get that spirit amen.
Scripture in this part
Acts 2:38 (NKJV)
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
— Acts 2:38 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 33:48 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How does the Spirit affect our speech?
Short answer: Prophecy edifies, exhorts and comforts; the Spirit never goes against the word.
▶ 35:49 Says you will prophesy in first Corinthians 14:3. He who prophesies speaks edification exhortation and comfort to men if you have a problem with your mouth I can tell you right now the spirit is not working in your life because the spirit when it comes is going to affect what you say. Amen okay you shall prophesy Saul never prophesied a day in his life but the spirit came on him and all of a sudden he had great things to say about God and about all the mighty wonderful things that he did do we are our mouths changed do we edify and build up each one another hey how you doing junior oh bless God looks like God’s working on this so good to see you this morning thank you exhorting one another encouraging yes man I remember when I was your age man it was tough it was hard but you can do it.
▶ 36:52 Comfort to men. The Holy Spirit never goes against the word. You may hear a prophecy that goes against the Bible if somebody is saying something against the word it’s not true if somebody is prophesying oh today you’re going to get in an accident and it doesn’t happen they’re a false prophet. The prophecy here is talking about edific edification exhortation and comfort mr mr thompson at the end of our worship was quoting the scriptures and reminding us of what the scriptures say and what Jesus did that is edification exhortation comfort. First Corinthians 14:4 he who prophesied prophesies edifies the church we want the church to be built we want people in the church to be built up so in those who you know these these words are for us when somebody brings up the scriptures it’s not just it’s for you to hear and let God and the spirit work in you convict you uh encourage you build you up that’s what it’s for.
Scripture in this part
1 Corinthians 14:3 (NKJV)
But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
— 1 Corinthians 14:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 35:49 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What does it mean to be a new man?
Short answer: A new creation—God gave Saul another heart when he turned; a class or seminar can’t do it.
▶ 38:09 And then Saul was turned into and he says be turned into another man second Corinthians 5:17 if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation he is a new person. And it takes the Holy Spirit to change people. We need God’s spirit if you’re not pursuing the spirit of God if you’re just looking for head knowledge if you’re just reading your pages uh every day so you can say you read your Bible through and you’re not actively pursuing the spirit of God and how to get it and how to pursue it how to seek it if you’re not doing those things you’re missing out on the change that God can do in your heart the change that he can help you handle the latest problem that you’re going through we’re going to learn about in here just a minute.
▶ 39:02 First Samuel 10:9 it was when he had turned his back to go from Saul that God gave him another heart and all those signs came to pass that day Samuel had prophesied of several other things and that’s why we know Samuel was a real prophet he said you’re going to go down here and you’re going to meet this guy and you’re going to find that and then you’re going to see me and and you’re going to find and everything Samuel said what happened. That’s a real prophet he’s the real deal. You can’t just prophesy over somebody. Uh whatever you want to say. And if it doesn’t come true it’s a false prophet you shouldn’t be doing that. You know if God comes with the spirit and and gives you something then say it but otherwise come on guys we don’t need to act like we’re something we’re not.
▶ 40:02 So when we turn from sin just like Saul when he turned away from Samuel when we turn away from sin God gives us another heart another heart is a new way of thinking a new mind we can have a new joy a new peace everlasting joy shall be upon their head we don’t have to be depressed like the world is God gives us a new heart a new mind a new spirit. And the the new covenant in Ezekiel chapter 36 says I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statute so this is a promise it’s not just for Saul here it’s for you and me it’s for America and the world today that he will give us a new heart a new way of thinking and we need that we need a new heart.
▶ 41:06 A college class is not going to get this done. A seminar that you pay for oh they got a seminar on this and a seminar on that oh that’s going to solve it no God may use a seminar God may use a class but ultimately it’s God who comes to you and changes you by his spirit and by his power and we have to repent turn to him be baptized and seek him for this promise of the Holy Spirit. After all of that. Saul goes and prophesies he’s given a new heart he’s got all this new stuff about and the spirit of the Lord comes upon Saul he becomes king he is now king and he is he has taken names and he is defeating the enemy he’s doing you know God made him a king I mean he was chasing donkeys he was tall and handsome but that’s all he had you ever met somebody tall and hansen but they don’t have anything going on in their life yeah that’s what was going on with Saul but God changed him he was able to handle being a king I’ll tell you right now being in charge of something it just doesn’t come like like snap sudden your fingers and all of a you know what to do but the God spirit came to Saul and he quickly made him kingly uh able to handle the office but Saul.
Scripture in this part
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 38:09 (quoted; reference not named in the message)1 Samuel 10:9 (NKJV)
So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day.
— 1 Samuel 10:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 39:02 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What went wrong with Saul?
Short answer: He rejected the new heart, cared about the people’s opinion and clung to his kingdom.
▶ 42:37 Had a problem. He has given a new heart but he rejected that new heart first Samuel chapter 13:13 Saul Samuel says to Saul you have done foolishly you have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God your kingdom shall not continue. So even though he was given a new heart Saul rejected it and if you read the stories you understand that he wanted to please people and himself rather than God and that’s like everybody in the world right now can fall into that trap right where we get into wanting to please someone else or ourselves and not God. He really cared about the people’s opinion of him when him and Samuel when Samuel said you know you can’t do this and and you can’t be king anymore he said oh come with me to the people I I got it I got it okay okay okay.
▶ 43:43 But don’t leave me now come with me the people I want them to see that everything is okay he cared more about what the people thought of him. We should be pleasing and following and obeying God. And so God sought for himself a man after his own heart and he repeats it and says you have not kept what the Lord commanded you and this is very important to understand you may have been given a new heart you may have the spirit of God upon you you may have all these wonderful things going on but when you reject. God’s commandment you reject and you say I’m not going to fear the Lord I’m going to do what I want to do you have rejected God’s new heart you have rejected God’s spirit and God is going there’s going to be some correction coming you can’t just act like oh I’m I’ve experienced the Holy Spirit I’m this and I’m that it’s not going to stick if you reject God’s commandments.
Scripture in this part
1 Samuel 13:13-14 (NKJV)
And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you. For now the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.”
— 1 Samuel 13:13-14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:37 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How did David come forward?
Short answer: The youngest, keeping sheep, he was anointed and the Spirit came upon him; he grew strong in spirit.
▶ 44:48 You may want it to you may try to make it stick but it’s not going to happen and that’s what Saul did he tried to keep and hold on to his kingdom and he would not let go he would not repent he would not submit himself to the new king. He tried to hold on. And he ended up killing his own people. Evil. He ended up going to witches. To bring Samuel up doing witchcraft. We have to repent we’ve got to turn. And we’ve got to keep his commandment. So here’s David the Lord sought for himself a man after his own heart do not look at his appearance but look the for the Lord looks at the heart David was the youngest he was keeping the sheep everybody’s in the room uh Samuel is is looking for Jesse’s he’s looking through Jesse’s sons like okay there’s a king in here somewhere.
▶ 46:04 He’s looking in the room oh they’re all there and he’s like this it’s none of these. Do you have any others. Where’s little Davey. And dave was out he’s the youngest he’s keeping the sheep probably doing the job that nobody else wanted to do. And he brings him in and it says Samuel took the horn of oil anointed him in the midst of his brothers and the spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. It says that he was ready and good looking right. Now what it doesn’t say is that he was uh a man of war it doesn’t say he was mighty it doesn’t say that. When he was anointed you know he was doing pretty good but the spirit of the Lord came upon him and from that day forward David started changing.
▶ 47:05 Remember what it says about Jesus it says he waxed strong and grew strong in the spirit. And one day. When they were looking for somebody for Saul because he had a distressing spirit they found who David. Now this is time had passed after he hit the spirit of the Lord started coming upon him and now he’s what he’s skillful and plain. He’s a mighty man of valor he’s a man of war you just look at him and you can see that guy he could run up to that mountain and back down and he’ll kill something bring it down I mean he is a man he is ready to kill.
Scripture in this part
1 Samuel 16:13 (NKJV)
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
— 1 Samuel 16:13 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 46:04Luke 2:40 (NKJV)
And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
— Luke 2:40 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:05What was David doing as a shepherd?
Short answer: Getting ready—training with his weapons, not lying around eating Cheetos; God nudged the stone.
▶ 47:54 He. Is prudent in speech in a handsome person and the Lord is with with him you see David was not sitting around he wasn’t bored while being a shepherd after that being anointed king he was learning how to use his weapons if you can see him right now he’s out there watching the sheep and he’s got his sword eyes I’m gonna I want to learn how to use this thing and he starts with the trees he’s like okay okay I gotta get that guy get that down yeah yeah yeah and then he gets down on the ground it’s like all right I gotta do some push-ups gotta I gotta start exercising I gotta get ready uh I gotta get ready something’s coming you know spirit is working on him and coming upon him and he he’s getting ready. There’s nothing I’m not talking about your physical self.
▶ 48:46 But David here is getting ready and making himself available to defeat the enemy he wasn’t just sitting around eating Cheetos. You know eating whatever snack laying around sheep now he’s saying oh come on I’m ready for whatever sheep’s gonna run away oh I’m gonna get you oh man I hope it’s you today as I’m chasing you down. I’m ready man. He was he was ready for. Uh the next thing if we never read if we never pray we never fast we never praise God never obey never time don’t expect God to rain down miracles. In these areas the spirit came on David and David from that day forward he is in he is living his life and he is preparing himself.
▶ 49:46 You know was it his accuracy that killed Goliath probably not but you know what he was probably pretty close. And God all I had to do was just nudge it over. Yes you know he had to get himself out to the battlefield right. He’s got to stand there he’s got to get ready he’s got to have some skill right what are we bringing to God. Do we have anything. That’s not God’s goal for us he’s not just raining down forgiveness and money and a good spouse and good children good governmentally all I have to do is just catch it.
▶ 50:40 Now forgiveness comes from his cleansing. The cleansing of his blood. We get money because why we work. We good a good spouse because we have grown into somebody who is a good spouse we’re looking for somebody that will match what we are right. Good children come from raising and correcting them in the fear of the Lord good government comes from people who will fight for biblical justice in our society and for our people it’s not going to happen without work it’s not going to happen without the spirit of God. So after the spirit came on David he was preparing for the next battle.
▶ 51:32 He wasn’t just sitting around. He was probably playing his harp in the afternoon in the shade of the tree but all morning he was getting ready he was exercising he was doing his daily routine and then he gets down in the tree he’s like okay sheep you ready. We complain about our mundane lives oh my life is so mundane. Our mundane job or mundane this or we complain about what we don’t have but David didn’t go for that you know every day he’s out there he’s doing the same stinking thing. But he was preparing for the next battle. And God is asking us are we preparing ourselves for the next battle.
Scripture in this part
1 Samuel 16:18 (NKJV)
Then one of the servants answered and said, “Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the LORD is with him.”
— 1 Samuel 16:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:54What did the Spirit make David?
Short answer: A mighty man of valor who behaved wisely; wisdom is one of the seven spirits of the Lord.
▶ 52:28 And after the spirit of the Lord came on David David went up like the statement is let’s go up he went from a little shepherd boy to a warrior. And that’s why when they looked at David and they saw him they said he is a what mighty man of valor he is a man of war he’s prudent in speech he talks right. See the spirit of God is going to affect the way you talk if it’s not you need to ask the spirit to change the way you talk. And you need to exercise some self-control and a handsome person the Lord is with him how many want the Lord with you. First Samuel 17 36. The Lord who delivered me from the paw the lion and the paw the bear he will deliver me from the hand of this philistine you see he was getting ready for his next battle he fought the lion he defeated the lion he defeated the bear and how many know it wasn’t just David’s strength alone then that’s what he’s saying the Lord delivered me but you know what again he wasn’t just sitting around.
▶ 53:38 Saying God deliver me from the bear. No no he was he was able to to run like he’s running away from this thing and he’s running fast right because he’s been exercising. And so God comes he kind of slows down the bear you know nudge. He stops the bear a little bit on David’s like oh I see my opportunity. And he learned how to use his his his sling and his sword and he’s ready. And God all he has to do is a little few little nudges. He’s yours. First Samuel 18 5 David went out wherever Saul sent him and he behaved wisely and Saul set him over the man of war the men of war and it was accepted in the sight of all the people and the side of Saul’s servants.
▶ 54:38 And so again David went up. And I bring up wisely because this is uh if you don’t know wisdom is part of the spirit it’s one of the seven spirits of the Lord uh the seven spirits are the spirit of the Lord spirit of wisdom understanding counsel my knowledge and the fear of the Lord you want to get it all and David was exercising all these things he went from a shepherd boy. To a warrior and now he became what captain. He was put in charge of of the men of war and it says he was winning these battles he would go out and he was winning so he went from a little shepherd boy to developing preparing and pretty soon he kept going up.
▶ 55:35 Because of what the spirit of God was doing in him and we can keep going up you can go up from where you are today don’t stop going up that’s my point this morning he also prophesied now this is you know he’s stepping into new territory here he stands before Goliath and he says this day this day you big giant awesome Goliath man with your big muscles and your big sword and your big shield I’m telling I mean this takes some courage right not only to stand before him but to now say uh I know what’s going to happen. You know ease talk is easy talk is cheap right but David stands before Goliath and this is his first prophecy he says I’m going to strike you down I’m going to take your head and I’m gonna give the carcasses of the philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth that all the earth may know there is a God in Israel.
▶ 56:42 And this is the first time he’s standing there before Goliath and Goliath is alive right he’s listening to this and Goliath is like I’m gonna kill you so bad. It’s kind of like when Jesus. Would say your sins are forgiven you and then he backed it up with healing them right it’s the same kind of thing David is saying here I’m going he’s prophesying and saying I’m telling you what’s going to happen and of course we know David defeated Goliath. That all may know that the Lord is not saved with sword and spear but for the Bible is the lords and he will give he will give you into our hands. And so what I’m saying here is that he didn’t stop at being a shepherd he didn’t stop at just being a warrior he didn’t stop at being captain he he now is adding I’m gonna be uh uh I’m gonna prophesy.
▶ 57:46 You know we don’t want to get into I used to do this I used to do that he didn’t forget to be a warrior he didn’t forget being captained he was still able to do all those things he didn’t forget how to be a shepherd you know you could pull him down from a king and he could go to the shepherd to the sheep and be a shepherd he still knew how to do it. He could still do it. I used to prophesy I used to edify I used to come for the church I used to serve God I used to no you don’t want to be a used to. You want to keep adding. David was changed by the spirit of God and he kept going up. First Samuel 16 14 the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul in a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.
Scripture in this part
Isaiah 11:2 (NKJV)
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
— Isaiah 11:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 54:381 Samuel 17:46 (NKJV)
This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
— 1 Samuel 17:46 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 55:35How do we fight distressing spirits?
Short answer: With spiritual weapons—David’s harp refreshed Saul; praise drives darkness out.
▶ 58:46 So now going to this distressing spirit. A lot of people are dealing with distressing spirits today they’re dealing with darkness people throw around the word depression but you know what. You’ve got to deal with darkness in your life it comes and they say that this depression is like a darkness you know that’s that’s the kingdom of darkness and if you’re gonna try to uh solve it with counseling and medication you’re gonna you’re not throwing the right weapon at it. Okay you would never you know if the day if the Devil’s coming uh and bothering you you’re not gonna pick up your pistol you’re not gonna pick up your sword you’re not going to pick up your fists and start going through the air and shooting through the sky it’s not going to work.
▶ 59:46 You’ve got to use spiritual weapons. Whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul David to take a heart play it with his hand and Saul would become refreshed and well and the distressing spirit would depart from him. And David used praise just like it says up here instruments praising and worshiping Jesus Psalms 150 instruments of music will. Attack and push back the enemy out of the mouth of babes and succulents I’ve ordained praise to stop to defeat to to fight against to still freeze the enemy we need to take our opportunities to praise God if you’re coming into church and you’re not taking an opportunity to praise God you’re missing it that’s part of God’s spirit that’s the spirit of the Lord is in them.
Scripture in this part
1 Samuel 16:23 (NKJV)
And so it was, whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul, that David would take a harp and play it with his hand. Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him.
— 1 Samuel 16:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 59:46 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Who can answer troubled leaders?
Short answer: Not magicians or academia, but the Spirit of God in Joseph; we need Him to bring our country back.
▶ 1:00:48 And it’s God’s weapon to fight against distressing spirits and evil spirits we need to praise God. Genesis chapter 41 verse 8. After dreaming Pharaoh’s spirit was troubled and he called all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men he got them all together. It says he was troubled have you ever been troubled before well Pharaoh was troubled too he got all the magicians together out of the whole country all of the wise men and no one could interpret. The dreams that he had and people today are trying to interpret things but they give the wrong interpretation.
▶ 1:01:43 Magicians and wise men of our day of of Pharaoh’s day did not have interpretations for his dreams and today Americans are leaning on men in government in universities in academia the rich and the business world to solve today’s issues but they’re not being solved. Why. It’s a simple scripture says righteousness exalts a nation but sin brings correction. If we do not address that we’re not going to be blessed. It took someone with the spirit of God to give the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream and who was that it was Joseph Saul David and Joseph and others were changed by the spirit of God to affect their nation Saul was changed so that he could be king and help deliver his people from the philistines David was changed so that he could lead his people into victory and defeat the enemy Joseph was changed by the spirit of God.
Scripture in this part
Genesis 41:8 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.
— Genesis 41:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:00:48 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Genesis 41:38 (NKJV)
And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
— Genesis 41:38 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:01:43How does the service close?
Short answer: Seeking the Spirit to transform us, prayer for an army of Davids, and for the church and nation to turn back to righteousness.
▶ 1:02:59 And he brought about a great deliverance for his people we need the spirit of God to fill us to move on us to use us in bringing our country back to righteousness. So God is asking us this morning will we seek the spirit of the Lord not just for the gifts but to change us and do a new creation to give us a new heart a new spirit like it did for Saul like it did for David will we can will we accept that new heart that God gives us or will we reject it the new promise the new covenant promises us that he’ll give us a new heart and a new spirit but we’ve got to accept it we have to accept it by following what God’s commandment. Will we become mighty like David men and women of war prudent in speech our tongues changed.
▶ 1:04:02 Taking care of the hour outward skillful in worship will we be preparing for the next battle. Will we seek and receive the spirit of the Lord. So we’re going to take some time this morning to seek God’s spirit. We’re going to invite him. How many of you guys agree this morning just like David just like Saul just like Joseph spirit of God is going to make a big difference in our life the spirit of God is what we need to move up we need the spirit of God to move on us.
▶ 1:05:16 You know if we’re Christians just recently we need the spirit of God to transform us into his likeness. God has a goal for his people. And the spirit will bring us to where he wants us to be so I encourage you this morning. It’s one thing to hear about it but it’s another thing to seek it to ask for it to and if you’ve been if you’ve repented and you’ve been baptized this morning we want to invite God’s spirit this morning even if you’ve been filled in the past you want to invite him again that he would come and move upon you that he would change you on the inside that he would give you strength and might just like the seven spirits say they are a spirit of might of counsel of strength. Wisdom. We need all of those things.
▶ 1:06:10 So I invite you to stand as we invite his spirit this morning. And we’re going to play the verse and the chorus and after the chorus we’re going to take some time seeking and asking the spirit of God to come. To come upon us to come and fill us and change us transform us to change our tongue. And if you are listening to the message this morning you’ll know what to pray for and ask God to do in you. You’re living. Living over my soul let your Holy Spirit come and take control. Of every situation that has troubled my mind all my cares and birds unto you I roll foreign.
▶ 1:07:18 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Speak. S. One more time spirit. Speak spirit. S.

Alive and if Jesus had not prepared himself 30 years of July. Be self-ready he prepared beforehand. He was ready to do what the father called him to do because he was able to bear the word that was needed to do and the spirit would say this thing make yourself ready prepare yourself and when he comes to you. ‘ll be able to bear what he says when he says the many things he wants to say there’s many who want to do his work without they’re not made already they can’t bear what he has to say they can’t handle what he wants them to do.
▶ 1:16:08 Fear would say prepare yourself. That Jesus prepared himself David prepared himself as many of the people that serve God in the word they made themselves ready before him. Said.
