Blackguard Balaam: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Continuing on the first commandment, Pastor David G. Kincer studies Balaam, the sorcerer hired to curse Israel. God turned the curse into blessing and spoke truth through him, but Balaam’s counsel led Israel into immorality and idolatry. Jesus warned Pergamos about the doctrine of Balaam. The lesson: take counsel from God’s word, and God works through his people, whom he never abandons.
Where does this message begin?
Short answer: Matthew 22:37: love the Lord with all your heart, soul and understanding. Jesus told the Ephesus church, you have left your first love. The church has been measured by what it does for mankind, not for God, truth and right. John 14:23: if any man love me, he will keep my words.
▶ 0:01 Okay, continuing our study on tackling the first and the greatest commandment. In Matthew 22:37, the Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, your spirit, and with all your mind, all of your understanding.” So, we have to have understanding to know how to love the Lord. And if we’re going to get understanding in how to do a heart surgery or to fix the uh plumbing of a house, folks, we need understanding how to really uh apply the first and the greatest commandment. And uh he says this is the great and the first commandment. Remember in Revelations 2:7 to the seven churches, Jesus addressed the seven churches which is a an example of the seven conditions uh of the churches.
▶ 1:03 All right, there were a lot more than seven churches in Asia. But he picked these to teach us. And he said to the Ephesus church, I have this against you. Uh you have left your first love. Now what’s the first love? Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding. And so I made a statement. For the past 50 years, the success of the American church has been increasingly measured by the second commandment, love your neighbor as yourself, and not the first and great commandment to love God with all your being. Both civil and church leaders ask what do churches do for mankind.
▶ 2:01 They do not ask what churches do for God, do for Jesus, do for what’s morally right, or do for truth. Okay? They don’t ask that question. And so we also want to remind you that John 14:23 says, “If any man loves me, he will keep my words.” The Bible says Jesus is the living word. You see, he says, “My word is truth.” See, keep my word. You’re going to keep his truth. You’re going to keep, he said, my word is right. Okay? You’re going to keep right. You’re going to Jesus is the living word.

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
— Matthew 22:37 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:10Revelation 2:4 (NKJV)
Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
— Revelation 2:4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:16 (quoted; reference not named in the message)John 14:23 (NKJV)
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
— John 14:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:23Whom must we hear above all prophets?
Short answer: The Bible is a book of truth; faith comes from the word. Deuteronomy 18:18: I will raise up a Prophet and put my words in his mouth; whoever won’t hear him, I will require it. That Prophet is Jesus—be cautious of any prophecy that doesn’t line up with his.
▶ 2:53 He’s the righteous one. And so that’s the understanding of the thing. Okay? We got to keep his word which is moral right, moral truths, Bible truths. The Bible is a book of truth. It is not a book of faith. I keep preaching that over and over and over because the leaders in America keep saying it’s a book of faith. It is not a book of faith. Faith comes from the word. The Bible is a book of truth. Amen. And so our faith must be in truth. Okay? Now we gave you scriptural examples of a Christian’s relationship with God. The creator, the husband, the redeemer, the king, the military chief, and today the prophet.
▶ 3:45 We’re going to focus in on the prophet. And it says in Isaiah 54:5, “Your maker is your husband. The Lord of hosts is his name.” Isaiah 43:15, “I am the Lord. I am your king. I will raise up a prophet to speak my words and anyone who not hear I will require it of them. Anyone will not hear this prophet that I am raising up. Deuteronomy 18:18. And who is that prophet? Jesus Christ. Jesus. Okay. It doesn’t take a college education to get that one or a Bible college education, I should say. All right. So, we are to hear Jesus’s words above anyone who proclaims they are a prophet.
Scripture in this part
Isaiah 54:5 (NKJV)
For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.
— Isaiah 54:5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:48Deuteronomy 18:18 (NKJV)
I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
— Deuteronomy 18:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 4:20Why did Moab send for Balaam?
Short answer: Balaam was a diviner and sorcerer. Numbers 22:2–3: Moab saw all Israel had done and was afraid of the people. The king wanted Balaam to curse—bind with speech—the people and drive them out. He applies it to opponents who use speech to silence God’s people today.
▶ 4:40 Is that a correct statement? And we need to be cautious of anyone prophesying. That doesn’t line up to what Jesus already prophesied. Amen. That’s right. Okay. Now remember Jesus said without a parable he spoke not unto the people. Parables, allegories, metaphors is how God illustrations of truth is how God hid truths in the Bible that now we can have access to and be opened up to those truths. So, we’re going to look at the parable, the illustration of Balaam in Numbers 22. He was a diviner. He was an enchanter. He was into witchcraft.
▶ 5:31 He used witchcraft and enchantments. All right? And the Bible also calls him a prophet. And you’ll find out why in a few minutes. But he was into witchcraft. Okay? He was a sorcerer. Now, in Numbers 22:2, I want you to look at this and notice the focus here. Moab and Midian, which are two nations, all right? Saw all that Israel, the people of God. Say, the people of God, the people of God, he saw all that the people of God had done. We have a tendency to look for Moses’s and Apostle Paul’s instead of the collective group.
▶ 6:23 Hallelujah. But the story of Balaam is going to focus on the collective group, the church, the people. All right? He saw what the people had done, the people of God, and was exceedingly afraid. He was afraid. They had already conquered other nations, parted the Red Sea, mana is coming from heaven. All kinds of things are happening in the people and they were afraid cuz they were going to be conquered too. And so what did he do? He sent for Balaam to curse these mighty people. How was his outlook on the people of God? That they were mighty. They were strong. You know, we need to see how God sees us. We’re not a bunch of wimps.
▶ 7:15 That’s right. You know, and when we stand up and love God the way he says, the world is going to look at us differently. Balam saw that they were a mighty and strong people and and so he or uh the king of Moab and and Midian. And so they wanted Balam to curse the people. That means he they wanted him to bind to restrain the mighty people with a spell, a spoken spell, with speech. Okay? And that’s exactly what’s happened in America for the last few decades. Our opponents through speech has handcuffed the people of God in America and he wants Balaam to curse them so that he can defeat them and drive them from the land.
▶ 8:14 And that’s exactly what the humanists, the atheists, the liberals, uh the homosexual activists and so forth, they want to drive us out of any say in America. And they have the only voice and they’re winning this battle. And notice he wants to drive the people. He didn’t say we want to go and drive Moses out of the land or Joshua or the 70 elders. He didn’t say we got to cut off the head. He said we got to stop the people. How many of our leaders worthless without people? We give leaders a lot of credit, but it’s the people that’s doing the work. Isn’t that true?
▶ 9:05 Yes. I mean, what can a leader do without people? And so the kings of Moab and Midian understood that. And so their focus is on the people, these mighty people. We want to drive them from the land. And that’s exactly what the liberals and the humanists are doing in America today. The homosexual movement. That’s what they’re doing in America today. And they are trying to drive the people of God into silence. Shut their mouth, put a muzzle on them, you know, tell everybody that the Bible’s a book of myths. It’s just a fiction stories. It’s just a book of faith and it can’t be used in public debates because it’s faith. It’s not science. Isn’t that what you read and hear?
Scripture in this part
Numbers 22:2-3 (NKJV)
Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.
— Numbers 22:2-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:50Numbers 22:6 (NKJV)
Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
— Numbers 22:6 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 8:12 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How was Balaam tempted?
Short answer: Numbers 22:7, 17: rewards of divination and promotion to great honor. Bribes drive high places today. Deuteronomy 23:5: the Lord would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing because he loved his people.
▶ 9:58 Yeah. And God’s people have been believing that for several decades progressively progressively. And our focus has been on are we helping the poor instead of are we loving God by keeping his word. He said in verse 7 and 17, I’ll give you sorcery rewards and promote you to great honor. And he al he also says there bribes of silver and gold. And how many of you know bribes are the driving force in high places of America right now? Yeah. You can call them lobbyists. You can call them self-interest groups. You can call them what you want. But it’s all about money. Money. Absolutely.
▶ 10:50 Absolutely. And so Balaam is going to take the bribe. He’s going to take the reward. And he love how many you know everybody loves a name that’s honorable. You know, instead of a garbage collector, he is a disposal engineer. That’s right. You see, ain’t that right? We give names of honor. We give titles of honor. We give recognition of honor, positions of honor. And the money comes with it. And that is what has been bringing America down. And that’s why there’s a segment of America that’s been in the background for eight years now that is coming out. All right? Because of the way our our state governments and our Washington DC governments have been running in Deuteronomy 23:5.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 22:17 (NKJV)
for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me.’ ”
— Numbers 22:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:22 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Deuteronomy 23:5 (NKJV)
Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.
— Deuteronomy 23:5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:43What happened on Balaam’s journey?
Short answer: God told Balaam not to go; when offered more, God let him go. An angel with a sword blocked the way; the donkey turned aside, Balaam beat it, and the donkey spoke. Then Balaam’s eyes were opened.
▶ 11:46 Here is why Balam was called a prophet. God came to Balam, this witch doctor, this sorcerer, this diviner, this enchanter. God came to him and said, Balaam, what’s these messengers coming to your house for? And he says, “Well, they want me to go curse Israel, and they’re going to pay me, man. They’re going to pay me to curse Israel.” God, he’s talking to God. This nitwit is talking to God. I mean, he his brains must be on Mars. I’ll show you why. Okay, he’s talking to God. And God says, “Don’t you go. You can’t curse whom I blessed.” Amen. And so Balam didn’t go. He went and told the messengers, “I can’t go.” So the king sent more noble people back to him with bigger treasures of silver and gold and all this stuff.
▶ 12:48 And uh they said, “Hey, come on. You got to curse these people.” And so God comes to Balam again and says, “What do these guys want?” He said, “They want me to go.” He says, and God says, “Well, go ahead.” You see the difference in the tone? First, don’t go. See, he already was told what not to do. The second time, God says, “Go ahead.” So, Balam don’t he he’s got air for brains. So Balaam gets on his donkey and starts heading out, man. Going to get this silver and this gold. Going to curse the people. And his donkey sees an angel in the pathway and avoids the angel. And this angel had a sword.
▶ 13:40 I mean, this angel’s going to kill them both. All right. And so the donkey moves over and all and then the angel moves over and the donkey moves over again and the angel moves over and finally they got to a narrow place and Balaam got mad at that donkey and beat him with a whip and the donkey starts talking. Now this is why he’s an airhead. I mean God’s talking to now a donkey’s talking in a human voice. The Bible says the donkey is talking in a human voice. What is that? And Balam’s talking back to the donkey. I mean, there’s something wrong with his brains. And the donkey explains to him an angel there.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 22:12 (NKJV)
And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”
— Numbers 22:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 12:28 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Numbers 22:28 (NKJV)
Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”
— Numbers 22:28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 14:01 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What did God speak through Balaam?
Short answer: Numbers 23:19: God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent. Balaam also prophesied the Star to come. God using someone doesn’t make that person acceptable—the power is in the word, so judge people by their fruit.
▶ 14:32 And then Balam’s eyes are open. Are you with me? Hallelujah. God used. So God let Balam go and Balam could not speak. Remember I have told you in the Bible study during the week that these people who wrote the scriptures had no choice but to write what they were told. Here’s a great example of this. This is a witch doctor. This is a sorcerer. This is the diviner. And God is going to prophesy truth through him. Amen. Wow. Hallelujah. Does God ever prophesy lies? No. And tremendous prophecies came out of Balaam. One of them is God is not a man that he should lie. Neither the son of man that he should repent. Hath has he said and shall he not do it?
▶ 15:24 Has he spoken and will he not make it good? And then he prophesied of Judah and Israel and Jesus the star to come and and all that. Balaam, a sorcerer, is prophesying the truth of God’s word because God used him. Amen. God using someone does not make that person acceptable. That’s right. Are you out there? And this is this is where the American church is dumbed down because God uses corrupt people when they preach the word. I’ve I’ve told you the word works by itself. The word is powerful. It’s sharper than any two-edged sword. I don’t care who’s speaking it. I don’t care who’s reading it. That word has power. Amen. Has nothing to do with the speaker.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
— Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 15:18 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Numbers 24:17 (NKJV)
“I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.
— Numbers 24:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 15:30 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Who defeated Moab and Midian?
Short answer: God blessed Israel because he loved his people—not just its leaders. An elder title is a job description. Numbers 31 and Joshua 24:10: the people defeated Moab and Midian and killed Balaam. God is waiting on his people to rise.
▶ 16:16 The power is in the word. Hallelujah. But we elevate corrupt people, Balaam people, false prophets instead of looking at their fruit. That’s right. We look at the results of the word and we get fooled and we honor them instead of honoring the word and the one who wrote it. Now, that was good. Hallelujah. I’m just letting you know that was good. It’s okay to say amen. Hallelujah. The word is good. And it says why God blessed him. For God what? Loved his people. He didn’t bring in Moses here. He didn’t bring in Joshua and the seventy elders. Oh, the seventy elders. Oh yeah. If you are an elder, get over the title.
▶ 17:11 It is a job description. Get to work. Amen. Being made an elder does not give you beans. It is a job description. That’s a very high responsibility. And you better get to work and you better have the ability to perform in that job description. That’s a good amen. See, God is focusing on the people. The people. The people. The people. Amen. And if God can get his people to understand this, we can turn America around. We’re looking for some leader rise up. And God’s looking for his church to rise up, the people. And so in Numbers 31 and Joshua 24:10, Israel defeats their opponents Moab and Midian in battle and the people kill Balaam.
▶ 18:13 They destroy the enemy and they destroy the one who use bribery to try to curse them. Are you there? They yet they destroyed the one who prophesied through God. Right things. The people did it. Moses didn’t go kill Balaam. Moses didn’t go destroy the Midianites and the Moabites. The people did. Amen. People, see, God’s waiting on you. Hallelujah. But the people right now in America rather just come and hear a nice eloquent sermon, inspirational message and a great orchestra and a worship band.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 31:8 (NKJV)
They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of those who were killed—Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. Balaam the son of Beor they also killed with the sword.
— Numbers 31:8 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:11 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Joshua 24:10 (NKJV)
But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand.
— Joshua 24:10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:58What do bribes do?
Short answer: Proverbs 17:23: a wicked man takes a bribe to pervert justice. Food programs can fill churches without new birth. Isaiah: your rulers are rebellious and love bribes—in family, civil government and church. A tithe can become a bribe for flattery.
▶ 19:06 Ah yeah, boy. I’ve been to church and they go out and they can’t overcome any kind of enemy. That’s right. Am I right? Yeah. 100%. We can’t rally together. There is almost a 100 million evangelical Christians in America, maybe a little over. And we can’t rally 10,000 to speak out for anything. They have bound us. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen. Now, Proverbs 17:23 says, “A wicked man accepts a bribe and the ultimate end is to pervert justice.” That’s what bribes do. And so when you bring people in and you give them alms and spiritual welfare to grow your church, yes, they’re going to come.
▶ 20:10 I’ve been all all over the world preaching. And let me tell you, in these deprived nations, if you have a food program, you got a big congregation. Doesn’t mean they’re born again at all. Are you there? Yes. And America does it. See, in America, we get double dipped. The government gives them welfare and the church does. They’re getting it from both ends. That’s right. Because the emphasis is on what? The second commandment instead of the first. And we get the first right. How many you know we’ll get the second right. Yeah. Hallelujah. Now your rulers are rebellious thieves. They love bribes and rewards. Your rulers. Now how many know there’s three areas of rulership in the well there’s really four.
▶ 21:07 The business world also but the family, the civil and the church. All of them have leaders. And the business world, the economic world. And here Isaiah says, Isaiah starts out, God starts out where he’s heading. The the beginning of a book tells you where it’s going. Okay? The leaders are rebellious. Family, mom and dad, the civil government, the president, the Congress, the governors, the judges, and the church, the pope, the priests, the pastors, the ministers, whatever you want to call them, they’re rebellious. They’re resisting God. Amen.
▶ 21:58 And they love the bribes. They’ll tell you anything to get your tithes. That’s right. I was talking to a young man just last week who was in a cult church and I told him, “You need to get out of that church.” And I told him why. And he says, “Well, I tal I’ve been talking to him for months.” And he says, “Well, you know, I talked to the pastor and he says, you know, it’s okay. You don’t have to believe that stuff.” And I go, “Well, of course you’re a tither and you’re a big tither. You don’t have to believe their extremism cuz he wants your money. Are you there? Hallelujah. This guy wasn’t a tither like me. Little [unclear] guy. This guy made bucks. Hello church. It is in the church world.
Scripture in this part
Proverbs 17:23 (NKJV)
A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back To pervert the ways of justice.
— Proverbs 17:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:43Isaiah 1:23 (NKJV)
Your princes are rebellious, And companions of thieves; Everyone loves bribes, And follows after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, Nor does the cause of the widow come before them.
— Isaiah 1:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:57 (quoted; reference not named in the message)What is the battle between liberal and fundamental churches?
Short answer: The liberal church denies the Bible as truth, the virgin birth, hell and miracles. Fundamentalists defended the virgin birth, miracles, the cross, his return and forgiveness; the humanists issued a manifesto against them. It boils down to a war between right and wrong.
▶ 22:53 A tithe can be a bribe for the preacher to flatter you with what you want to hear. Yeah. Amen. And if you give above tithes and special interest, man, you are in. And so we got to remember that in America in the late 1700s and early 1700s, the liberal church began to arise in America. The liberal church is not the liberal political group. The liberal church believes that the Bible is not a book of truth. They believe that Jesus was not born of a virgin. And they’re with us today. They believe that there is no hell. They believe that the miracles written in the New Testament of Jesus was just a fiction story, a myth.
▶ 23:45 Okay? Are you there? That’s right. That’s the liberal church. And they believed in welfare without work. They believed government was there to take care of the people. Not individuals help the poor but the government had the responsibility to help the people that began to arise. The fundamental and fundamental means the important doctrines of the Bible. The fundamental Bible believers the important the major the necessary doctrines of the Bible. See, they had to fight with these liberal preachers. And finally in 1920s, they put out a book called the uh [unclear] fundamentalism. And they gave the important doctrines of the Bible that yes, Jesus was born of a virgin.
▶ 24:38 Hallelujah. Yes. The miracles he did were miracles. He did die on the cross for the sins of the world. He is coming again. All right. He will forgive you of your sins. The Bible is a book of truth, not a book of myths. They put out this and immediately just a few years later, the humanists come out with their manifesto. Manifesto is a platform, a a order of beliefs, what the what the group believes. Well, they believe the church was a rotting corpse. Okay? Going to be replaced by the religion of humanism. It’s right in their manifesto. That prayer doesn’t work, that faith doesn’t work, and all this stuff. That that evolution is the uh way, not the Bible creation, but evolution is the way things were created and so forth.
▶ 25:34 This is the humanist manifesto. Immediately, the liberals came out with their manifesto, basically the same thing. Now, we’re talking about political liberals. We’re not talking about church liberals. We’re talking about political liberals in politics. And then the conservatives came out immediately with a manifesto of their beliefs. And that battle is going on today. The battle between conservative and liberal political groups, between the liberal church and the fundamental church. Okay. It’s still going on today. Hallelujah. It boils down to a war between right and wrong. That’s right. We’re in a battle between what’s right and wrong.
▶ 26:24 Amen. That’s right. Okay. And we got to have God’s people rise up and speak the truth and live the truth. That is your way to show you love God. And in doing that, you also impact the world. That’s right. Amen. Hallelujah. Now, in the liberal church today and in liberal political groups, homosexuality, same sex is an acceptable lifestyle. The Methodists just this week appointed a lesbian minister bishop in their church. And folks, that can’t be. You can’t even be a minister if you commit adultery.
Scripture in this part
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV)
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
— 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:45 (quoted; reference not named in the message)How was Balaam a counselor?
Short answer: Balaam was a prophet only while God used him; he was also a counselor. Today counselors abound—in schools, on abortion, finances and child-raising. He criticizes California school bills and insurance coverage of abortion, and gives his own advice on careers and buying a home.
▶ 27:16 If you’re a thief, you can’t be a minister. That’s right. Let alone being an active homosexual homosexual. Am I right? That’s right. You see, this is how deep we’re getting in to this Balaam doctrine. Now, Balam was not only a prophet and a diviner and a prophet because God used him, right? Until then, he was not a prophet. When God used him, he was a prophet. When God stopped using him, went back to being a sorcerer. All right, you got that? That’s right. Now, Balam was also a counselor. And today, everybody’s counseling everybody. Before you go to bed tonight, you will counsel people at least 50 times.
▶ 28:15 We all know we’re right. Hallelujah. School counselors, they’re in the schools counseling our students, our our kids that are in public schools. And uh Senate Bill 48 and Senate Bill 146, Senate Bill 48’s already passed. It’s going to is going to in into effect this school session. And what it did is it gave the department of education permission to put the homosexual agenda in all textbooks. That is an acceptable lifestyle that uh you could be happy as a homosexual and so forth. All right?
▶ 29:06 They’re putting it right in the text now. They’ve been teaching it for years, but now they have approval to put it right in the textbook and elevate it. And of course, they put Christianity out a long time ago and its doctrines of moralness. They put it out in the 60s. But Senate Bill 1146 is one that’s in committee. It’s passed the Senate and it’s in a committee right now. And it will punish any Christian school that takes government funds that does not allow homosexual students or homosexual employees or homosexual propaganda in that college and that education.
▶ 30:00 Are you there? Remember I told you 40 years ago when you take something from the government, they will have demands that can violate your moral standards. And I can prove it to you. Most of you have bought in to Obamacare. And Obamacare demands that you pay for the abortions of anyone that wants it. And it doesn’t bother you at all. I had to change the church policy on health insurance to avoid the church being caught up in that. Are you there? Cuz as a church, I don’t want to support that. But I don’t want to violate the conscience of individuals.
▶ 30:53 That’s their responsibility. Are you with me? Are you there? A lot of you probably don’t even know that you’re in a medical group that takes your money to give abortions and other things to people who lived an immoral lifestyle that brought health problems upon themselves. Cigarette smokers, drinkers, they all are a high risk in the health world. Am I right? What’s the first thing they asked you when you go to the hospital? Do you smoke? Do you drink? Isn’t that right? Yeah. What’s the third thing they ask you? If you’re going to have an operation or anything, are you a homosexual? Why? Because your blood’s no good to donate. Ain’t that right?
▶ 31:44 Yeah. Hallelujah. And so you see how intrusive the government is on the people. That’s right. Yeah. Now, you can go to a shrink and they’ll counsel you how to have a happy marriage. They’ll straighten your mind out. They’ll counsel you how to have a mind that thinks right on sex, drugs, whatever. Go pay them 50 bucks for a half an hour and man, they will just straighten your life out. Okay. We also have abortion counseling. And you’ll see the fetus here of an 8week baby. They say it’s just a go of flesh that it isn’t human. See the head? See the arm? See the legs? See the torso?
▶ 32:36 Does that look like a human? Oh yeah, it’s a human. Does it look like a horse? No. Does it look like a gob of tissue? No. No, it is a little human. Yeah, they’re going to tell you it’s okay to kill this kid because mother has a right to live loosely and then kill this kid to correct her problem. Financial counseling. Everybody will tell you what’s best for your money, especially if they’re selling something. Are you out there? Whatever they’re selling, that’s the best. And let me tell you, you young ones, you can’t go wrong by investing in property for your first investment.
▶ 33:31 You got to be paying rent anyway. And you young ones need to get rid of your fine pay big payments on your cars. You need to get rid of your animals. You need to get rid of your surfboard and all these big luxuries that you just can’t do without and you’re barely making it that you need to get focused on building your family and saving money to get into a house. And our government has a first purchase plan that any idiot can almost get into a house. Are you there? That’s right. And in 30 years, you’re going to be worth uh if inflation goes as it is, close to a million dollars. Wow. Just in that house. And inflation is coming, folks. I’ve been telling you it’s coming and it’s slowly been coming, but it’s about to jump up.
▶ 34:23 And having a house would be a very wise thing right now. Just putting out my two cents. Then you can consider some other things. Your first investment is in yourself. Get a good career. Get skillful in that career. Get knowledgeable in that career. Get educated in that career. Get strong in that career. And your next investment is a piece of property. Amen. And I’m just going by history. I can prove it by history. All right? I can just prove it by history and common sense. They also want to tell you how to raise your kids, the kids counselor. And so Balaam is a counselor. And I’m looking at a bunch of counselors right here. After this service, you’re all going to be advising everybody else what’s best.
Scripture in this part
Micah 6:5 (NKJV)
O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the LORD.”
— Micah 6:5 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 35:16What counsel did Balaam give?
Short answer: Micah 6:5 recalls Balak consulting Balaam. Numbers 25:1–3: the people committed immorality with the women of Moab and bowed to their gods; the Lord’s anger was kindled. Numbers 31:16: these caused Israel to sin through the counsel of Balaam—destruction from within.
▶ 35:17 Amen. Yeah, that’s true. Micah 6:5, Balak, the king of Moab, counseled with Balam. And what Balam answered him? Okay. What did Balam answer him? Well, we go back to numbers. The people committed sexual immorality. The people, here it is. The people, the people of God committed sexual immorality with the women of Moab and Midian. They invited the people to the festivals of their God. The Moabites and the Midianites invited the people into the big party. You know, the the bail was a big party, man. The band playing, the drinks going and and sexual uh acts going on because that’s what aroused their God.
▶ 36:10 Sexual acts and a big party, the big festival. And so they invited the people of God down and they’re at the party, man. Yeah, man. They’re getting high and these women are running around, you know. Their moral standard went down and they start having sex with these women. The people ate and bowed down to their gods. Took a little time, but they got their mind to accept this religion. And they bowed down to their gods. All the while they were believing in Jehovah. Numbers 25:1-3. The anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel, God’s people. Here we are. He’s aroused against God’s people, the people.
▶ 37:04 Okay? Because of their behavior. And in Numbers 31:16, it plainly tells us these, talking about the Moabite and the Midianite kingdoms, cause Israel through the council of Balaam through the what? Council. See, he couldn’t curse God’s people. So, he counseled the king how to destroy Israel from within. And that’s exactly what’s happened to America. Amen. They got the church believing that samesex is an acceptable lifestyle. They got the church believing that these homosexuals have been beaten and persecuted and all this stuff. They got the church believing that stuff. I talked to them that the Bible’s a book of faith.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 25:1-3 (NKJV)
Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel.
— Numbers 25:1-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 36:51Numbers 31:16 (NKJV)
Look, these women caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the incident of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
— Numbers 31:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 37:08Where should we get counsel?
Short answer: Psalm 119:24: your testimonies are my counselors. Psalm 19:11: by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them is great reward. Psalm 119:98: your word makes me wiser than my enemies. Ecclesiastes 12:12: of making many books there is no end.
▶ 37:59 Shouldn’t be in political areas. It’s book of faith. Bible never says it’s a book of faith. I have challenged anyone to show me that the Bible is a book of faith. It is a book of truth, a book of morals, a book of righteousness, a book of the spirit world. Amen. Amen. Amen. The only book of the spirit world. That makes sense. So Psalms 119:24, “Your testimonies also are my delight and my what?” Counselors. Counselors. Where are we to get our advice from? The word. The word. And when someone offers you advice, go to the word and see if the word backs it up. Amen. Hallelujah.
▶ 38:52 Ins and Psalms 19:11, by the word your servant is warned, advised. Ain’t that right? And in keeping of them there is great rewards, the right reward. Psalms 119:98, your word makes me wiser than my enemies. Does the church need to be wiser than these opponents? Yes. We don’t need to be accepting our opponent’s lies and doctrines. We need to be promoting back, fighting back with God’s truth. And that’s what makes us wiser. Hallelujah. That’s right. Now, the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 12:12, of the making of many books, there is no end. How many you know, you go to the bookstore, it’s an endless supply of books.
▶ 39:45 The books that were there in the 50s are not there anymore. The books that were there in the 80s are not there anymore. And every generation, them books were the answer for that generation. And you know, when I was first saved, I went to the Bible bookstore and I saw seven steps to revival, three steps to revival, 12 steps to revival. I go, “My God is God mixed up. Everybody had a book on how to have life when it’s already in the book. Ain’t that right? Oh, but none of those books when I was a young Christian are there today. Hal Lindsey’s Late Great Planet Earth that was so popular back there in the 70s 80s. Nothing. Are you there? That’s right. In other words, don’t believe everything you hear, especially on the internet.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 119:24 (NKJV)
Your testimonies also are my delight And my counselors.
— Psalm 119:24 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 38:26Psalm 19:11 (NKJV)
Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.
— Psalm 19:11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 38:53Psalm 119:98 (NKJV)
You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.
— Psalm 119:98 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 39:14 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NKJV)
And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
— Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 39:38Where does bad counsel come from?
Short answer: Rulers (Psalm 2:2–4: the kings take counsel against the Lord and his anointed, to break their bands asunder); parents (2 Chronicles 22:3: his mother was his counselor to do wickedly); celebrities; peers (Psalm 55:12–14: it was my equal, with whom I took sweet counsel); and yourself (Job 18:5–7: his own counsel shall cast him down).
▶ 40:45 Are you there? That’s right. Don’t believe everything you hear. Everybody’s got an opinion. Now, bad counsel may come from civil and community leaders. Psalms 2:2-4, kings and rulers of the earth take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed. Now, Jesus is his anointed, but also his people are his anointed. Ain’t that right? They take counsel against God’s people. Here it is, the people again. Okay? Saying, “Let us break their bands asunder.” Now, the word their tells you he’s talking about which anointed the people. They can’t break Jesus’s band. But Jesus is the one leading this group. They’re he’s their leader.
▶ 41:38 He he’s the one they’re following. And cast away their cords from us. So, what do these groups in America want? They don’t want the Christian voice. They don’t want the Bible voice anywhere in America. That’s right. You see, and our government is going along with it. Am I right? Another source of bad counsel comes from the family leaders, the moms and the dads. 2 Chronicles 22:3, “His mother was his counselor to do wickedly.” I hear mothers all the time telling their kids dumb things. Where you get that from? Well, the soap operas and the, you know, the talk shows on TV and Yeah. Are you there? Amen. We think we saw some guy’s got a master’s degree or a PhD degree and he’s on TV that they’re right.
▶ 42:30 Or somebody like Oprah Winfrey, you know, who’s so popular, well, you know, that whatever she says, oh, that’s it. And Winfrey has really misdirected millions of people and she entered the church arena and the religious arena. And I have a right to call her out. Hallelujah. When she says Jesus is just another God, another way. Wow, man. She heard from me. I never heard from her, but she heard from me. Your peers, your friends, and even your Christian brothers and sisters. And we always gravitate to the group who’s saying what we want to hear, you know.
▶ 43:27 Oh, this guy believes in things I believe in. So after church and before church, I’m in that clique. Hello, church. Hallelujah. We should be fellowshipping with those higher than us so they can rub off onto us. So here it is. Psalm 55:12. It was not an enemy that reproached me, nor he that hated me, but a person my equal, my peer. My peer. And teenagers, where do they get most of their advice from? Fellow teenagers. And what does a teenager know? Nothing. They are developing their thinking.
▶ 44:21 And my friend, look at this. We took sweet counsel together and walked into God’s house, man. We went to church together, man. Hallelujah. And we can be giving each other bad counsel. Spouses can be given each other bad counsel because they don’t want to rock the boat in the home or whatever, you know. I’ll just go along with it. I’ll just go along with it. But the worst one is what? Yourself. Yourself. You are your worst counselor. That’s right. You think you are so smart. Job 18:5, the light of the wicked shall be put out.
▶ 45:13 His own counsel shall destroy him. You are your worst enemy. You feel it’s right. You say it enough. You know it’s right. Five years later, destruction. Oops. I’m sorry. I’ve heard that over and I’m sorry. What does I’m sorry do now? Nothing. The destruction has been done. Aren’t you glad for Balaam? Bible truth through the church. The people. The people. Say it again. The people.
▶ 46:04 The people. We’re looking for pastors. We’re looking for popes. We’re looking for some evangelists or some megachurch leader to change things. And folks, they can’t. It’s the word that will change things. And when we obey the word, that shows we’re loving God. And God will move and things will happen. That’s right. Amen. The people, it will neutralize bad counsel. Now, Balaam could not curse Israel, nor can sorcerers curse the church. Today there is no sorcery nor divination against God’s people. They can have all the rituals they want. They can have all the seances they want. They can kill all the chickens they want. They can do all this nonsense they want.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 2:2-4 (NKJV)
The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
— Psalm 2:2-4 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 40:562 Chronicles 22:3 (NKJV)
He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother advised him to do wickedly.
— 2 Chronicles 22:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 42:04Psalm 55:12-14 (NKJV)
For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.
— Psalm 55:12-14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 43:52Job 18:5-7 (NKJV)
“The light of the wicked indeed goes out, And the flame of his fire does not shine. The light is dark in his tent, And his lamp beside him is put out. The steps of his strength are shortened, And his own counsel casts him down.
— Job 18:5-7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 45:08What did Jesus say to Pergamos?
Short answer: No sorcery works against God’s people (Numbers 23:23). Revelation 2:12–16: I know your works; you have those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before Israel—eating things sacrificed to idols and immorality. Repent, or I will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
▶ 46:56 It does not have any effect on the people of God. Amen. Because he couldn’t curse the people. He counseled the people. He counseled Moab and Midian kings to invite Israel into Baal festivals knowing God would destroy Israel for sinning against his word. Sin is the violation of God’s law. That if they could get Israel to violate God’s word, God would deal with them and destroy them. And so those kings did it and it worked. The first commandment puts us in a moral fight. It keeps us right with God and keeps us teaching what is right. Now, I want to back it up with Revelations 2:12, one of the churches in the seven churches of Asia, the Pergamos church.
▶ 47:53 I know your works and faith. I know what works. Works. How many of these churches did he say? I know your works. Seven. Seven. All seven. Seven. All seven. All seven. Seven lampstands. And yet what do they tell us? Not by works. Not by works. Not by works. And yet every church has addressed, I know your works. I know your behavior. I know your actions. And in two churches, he mentioned faith. It just happened to be Jezebel last week and Balaam this week. These were people of faith. All right? And they were people of works. Maybe not good works, but they were they had works. But I have a few things against you.
▶ 48:44 Could he have a few things against the faith people? Hello. That’s right. Does your faith make you perfect? No. Does your faith excuse you for your behavior? No. He’s addressing it. And it’s no accident that he addresses these things because he saw the conditions of the churches down the eons of the ages and he’s bringing them out to us. Now what’s he got against them? You have those who hold the doctrine of Balaam. You got these people coming in teaching the doctrine of Balaam. Bribes cursing God’s people. Sexual immorality. All religions are okay. Those Balaam taught Balak to put a stumbling block before God’s people.
▶ 49:41 That’s right. And so these people are putting a stumbling block before God’s people. A stumbling block of sin, false doctrine. Are you awake, church? Amen. Amen. Now this is the stumbling block. They ate things sacrificed to idols. They got involved with religion. All religions are okay. And to commit sexual immorality. Homosexuality is okay. Uh orgies are okay. Plural wives are okay. Hey, sex with sheep or whatever is okay. No problem. Everything’s okay. He says, “You’re allowing these people to teach this in the church.” And there are people following that teaching. Now, this is the same as Jezebel, idols and sexual immorality, cuz they both worship Baal.
▶ 50:36 The difference is God used Balaam to prophesy truths. He didn’t use Jezebel. Are you there? And Balam counseled the people how to destroy the church from the inside. That’s the difference. Then he says what? Repent. Mike brought it out Friday night very clearly. Repent. Turn from wrong to right. Or I’ll [unclear]. God. Jesus. I’ll fight against them. Who’s them? Those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, I’m going to fight against them with what? The sword of my mouth. What is the sword of his mouth? His word. Yeah. All right. He is going to shut them up by the word.
Scripture in this part
Numbers 23:23 (NKJV)
“For there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!’
— Numbers 23:23 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 46:56 (quoted; reference not named in the message)Revelation 2:12-16 (NKJV)
“And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
— Revelation 2:12-16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 47:46Does God abandon his flawed people?
Short answer: Jeremiah 30:11; 46:28: I am with you to save you; I will make a full end of the nations, yet not of you, but will correct you in measure. A plague came, yet God never made an end of his people. Joshua 13:22: the people slew Balaam. The word through the people—not candidates or popes—will turn the nation.
▶ 51:30 And who speaks the word? The people. Say it again. The people. We’re not looking for Moses. We’re not looking for the Apostle Paul. We’re looking for what? The people. So in closing, what Christian opponents do not understand, they are all cocky. They’re relentless in their attack upon God’s people, and they can find fault with us. We have faults. How many of you got a fault or two? Yeah. I mean, they can pick up. Yeah. But what they don’t understand and what a lot of the church world doesn’t understand, Jeremiah 30:11 and Jeremiah 46:28 twice says the same thing.
▶ 52:26 I am with you, says the Lord. Even with our flaws, he is what? With us. Why? Why does he stick with us even with our mistakes? Some of them premeditated mistakes. See, to save us. How is he going to save us from our mistakes if he leaves us? That’s right. So, his goal is to what? Save us. So, I always have hope in Christ. When I recognize a problem in my life, I know he’s there to what? Deliver me from it. But I have to recognize it, agree to it, confess it so he can deal with it. But he is what? With me.
▶ 53:18 My failures does not turn God away from his people. This is what Bailo and Balam did not understand. The king of Moab, the king of Midian, and Balam did not understand. Balam really thought God was going to destroy all of Israel. Number three, though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, who’s he going to make a full end with? All nations. All nations that oppose him. All people. What’s another word for nations? People. You see, he’s going to make a full end to them. They’re going to go to the lake of fire and they’re going to burn there for eternity. And we may be scattered. One of his punishments is to scatter us. Another one is economic downtimes, droughts and things like that.
▶ 54:11 He keeps trying to correct us. Okay? Yet I will not make a complete end of you. This is what Balam did not get. Yes, God would come and visit them and he did with a plague and 24,000 people died out of [unclear] two and a half million people. Yes, God visited him. Yes, he brought a plague. But he will what? Never make a complete end of his people. That’s right. Why? Because he has chosen to use his people to destroy the Balaks and the kings of Midian and the balams in the world. That’s right. Amen. Amen. I will number five correct you in justice and not let you go unpunished. You see that’s what they don’t understand. Yes, God corrects his people, but he never leaves his people and destroys them completely.
▶ 55:09 That’s right. Amen. Joshua 13:22, Balaam the sorcerer or soothsayer did the children of Israel slay with the sword. Who slayed Balam? The people. Not Moses, not Joshua. The people rose up and took care of that bad counselor. Now, now we’re not telling you to rise up and get your AK-47 and start shooting these bad counselors, but he in Revelation said he would destroy them by the what? Sword of his mouth. The word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. That separates the spirit from the flesh and is a discerner and intents of the heart. That word will expose, that word will work a work in people.
▶ 56:04 Amen. But if we’re silent, the other side is going to have a field day cuz nobody is opposing them and telling them the truth. Oh, that was a good amen. Hallelujah. And so I submit to you today that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are not the answer for this nation. It is their beliefs. It is their doctrines. And if they are godly doctrines, that doctrine, that speaking can turn America around. Amen. But Hillary represents the liberal side, the socialist side of America.
▶ 56:57 America’s in a battle between the economics of socialism, communism, and capitalism. And when the Bernie burners that’s in college want free college, they don’t have any idea somebody has to pay for that. That’s right. When these welfare people want free goods while they live a life of sexual uh perversion and drinking and everything else and I know them. They don’t care who pays for it. That’s socialism. That’s communism. Capitalism says if you don’t work, you don’t eat. No one got paid in the Bible for sitting around doing nothing. Amen. Hallelujah. Now, the children of Israel, the corrected people, the people, the corrected people, now say the corrected people, the corrected people.
▶ 58:00 See, they destroyed that false prophet. They fought against him and silenced him, corrected people. Could we use a little correction? Of course, we could use a lot of correction. The corrected people defeats the Midianites and the Moabites in battles. Numbers 31. [unclear] corrected people today can defeat the humanist, the evolutionist, the liberal church, and the liberal politicians by the sword of his mouth, which is the word of God. It’s not Trump. It’s not Hillary. It is the philosophy behind it. That’s right. Hallelujah. It’s what they stand for.
▶ 58:51 The Pope is not going to save the world. Neither is a pastor or some author. It is the word of God through the people. And I submit that to you to reflect on that and think about that. What are we as a people going to do? What are we going to do with the word? What are we going to do about the first commandment? The first commandment, the most important, the first in rank, the first in order is to love God by obeying his word. His word of truth, his word of righteousness, his word of spirit.
