▶ 0:14 Amen. Hallelujah that is the calling amen Jesus said that he wants us all to be his disciples thank you Jesus we want to remind you there’s a song that we used to sing as as the sky and as deep as the sea is his love for me his love for me great is his love uh the love of God the scriptures say that God is love if you want to know what love is it’s God and though we talk though there’s other parts of God yes he is a judge yes he is um. A righteous God he is also love and we got to remember that amen that’s one of the most powerful things that when God is is here to help us grow he’s also doing it with love he’s not beating you over the head uh he corrects with his word and he wants you to change he wants you to come and and come and follow him but he does it with love he’s a wonderful God amen amen.

▶ 1:32 Last week we were going over the power of God’s people we looked at Jotham and he was a king that did right in the eyes of the Lord but the people acted. Corruptly and uh begs the question are we God’s people and are we seeking to do what is right in his in God’s eyes we don’t want to be like these people that acted corruptly. So we have a choice of what kind of people we can be right the question we asked at the end was who do you say I am who do we say Jesus is is he our Lord our savior our king or he is is he just that man that died on the cross that we say hey get up there on that cross I need your blood give me it all right uh we don’t want to be like that we want to love God back amen amen Pilate wanted to please the people by crucifying Christ and uh we don’t want to make decisions just because it pleases the people in our own country don’t want to do things that just please the people Joel 2: 28 the spirit is for all people afterward I will pour out my spirit on all flesh we were reminded that this spirit is for.

Men uh young men young women all of us and since the spirit is for everyone that responsibility of responding to it is also for everyone we are all responsible it does not rest on a great minister a great leader the guy with the nice hair you know everybody’s got their thing that they got but uh do we have the spirit of God in us because it is for all of us it is for for young people God loves putting his spirit on young people it’s a powerful thing I remember experiencing it in my younger years at youth group and God coming the presence of God and more powerfully with the spirit of God it was a wonderful wonderful thing it was a great environment to be in if if the o if you took the opportunity.

▶ 3:52 Hebrews chapter 8 as we all know part of the new covenant is that we can know him all of us can know him and also we learn that people were divided on Jesus and God is asking us where do we stand who is Jesus to us is he more than uh if you just know him as somebody you believe in he is calling you to a higher calling and he’s calling you to become a disciple amen I remember being at the choir of the fire in san diego uh convention center I can’t remember exactly where it was but uh ron loose was preaching he said you don’t want to you know you want to be a disciple he’s calling you to be disciples that was the point of his message so it’s not far out and Jesus said it you know it’s this is this is truth amen. Amen we’re going to be looking at hagi chap 1:2 they passed out sheets it’s a two-pager today hang on to your seats it says the rubbable son of shaltiel the governor Joshua the son of josac the high priest and the whole remnant of the people so we have the governor who is the governor of the natural area right we have the high priest who is the head pastor head leader of the of the church and we have the whole what remnant of the people the people that were still left.

▶ 5:22 In uh Judah and we remember what that remnant is in in the spiritual world right those who keep the commands of God we we talked about that in weeks past they obeyed the voice of the Lord their God it’s important to realize and recognize that God is looking for his church to be united he’s looking for unity in his house it’s very important to him Ephesians 4:1 this is the New Testament hagi is the Old Testament says so Christ himself gave the apostles the prophets the evangelists the pastors and teachers to equip his people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become say this word with me become what.

▶ 6:27 Mature mature when I was a teenager I was not mature I’m still not. Mature but I want to be mature amen and that is God’s calling on all of us to grow you know our our slogan out there says cultivating truth we want uh God’s truth to grow into us to where we are full grown amen attaining to the whole measure of the what. Fullness of Christ God is not wanting you to grow to a little plant where you have a little is that a fruit on there I can’t see it’s so small he wants the fullness have you ever seen a a tree or or a a living thing out there that is just full filled.

Amen uh macadamia nut tree I these are the things that you know I’m thinking about in my my mind as a kid we had our neighbor had a macadamia net tree you walk by it and you could grab a bunch and it was just full of them and uh orange trees have you ever seen these trees that are just full of oranges and u many different kinds of fruit trees amen people that live in the uh tropical area they they grow all kinds of fruit and the trees are. Full and God wants us to be that way. Amen. So remember the goal here the goal of the leaders the apostles even the great apostles the prophets it’s all for the body of Christ that we would be built up become mature come to the fullness of Christ it’s not so that they can be built up okay we understand the the goal here of God’s word of God’s plan.

▶ 8:32 And also to equip his people for works of service God is looking for people to do good works you see the goal he wants you to attain the fullness of Christ well Christ was without sin you know we want to head toward him we don’t want to head toward Satan Satan his label is what father of lies his label is the king of darkness I don’t want to be heading his way amen amen we want to be headed to the goal of becoming like Christ and remember the Genesis says we are made in whose image God’s image we want to reflect and uh model. Him and that is a high calling wouldn’t you say it’s a high calling and it’s important that the church understands this and it’s important that in your heart you have that goal and it’s going to be a lifelong goal it’s going to take a long time uh to keep developing into that so get on the train of development.

▶ 9:43 Amen Ephesians 4:3 make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace make every effort uh that sounds like we got to do something right when you come into God’s house we got to put in an effort to keep the unity see unity is important I don’t go up to people and start uh trying to fight with them. Right we want to make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace Romans 12:10 be devoted to one another in love honor one another above. Yourselves the new test reminds us of how we want to treat one another how we want to treat God’s people so important be devoted to one another he’s talking about the church he’s talking about the body of Christ amen.

▶ 10:42 Um honor one another above yourselves it’s very important that we u treat people. Above ourselves it’s it’s a it’s a humble attitude right we want to have a humble attitude toward one another Proverbs 1911 the discretion of a man makes him slow to anger and his glory is to overlook a transgression in God’s house in your family in your life you’re going to get far with God’s people if you’re able to overlook or get past transgressions toward one another or toward yourself John 17:20 I pray that all of them may be one father just as you are in me and I am in you and this is the prayer in chapter 177 if you remember John chapter 17 this is the night before he was crucified before Jesus was crucified and killed on that cross this was what he was praying about so it’s very important very important.

▶ 11:51 And so we want to understand how important it is how how important the unity of the body is to Christ if we come in with our own ideas and we like the power struggle and we want to see this person I like that person better I want to see them ahead I want to see them uh you know do better than that guy that I don’t like or this girl she’s you know and we start to cause division and divide it’s not right that’s not what God wants and the church right now in America because we are very uh customer based we’re customer review we are the customer review country customer review church you know we getting into all our faction I don’t like that place and that place in in that place and also not just that we have a problem with churches that are going away from truth.

▶ 12:46 Amen and that is also a problem and that’s where the church has to uh stick with the truth and be disciples you know it when somebody preaching a word and that has nothing to do with being a disciple of Christ that’s. Wrong in fact they’re promoting you not to be a disciple of Christ that’s not truth amen have you guys heard of any of those kind of things happening lately yes Proverbs. 6:19 um he who so one of the six things the Lord hates is someone who sws discord among the brethren he I’m gonna I’m going to label the men here. He of course God’s talking to everybody he who s sws discord among the brethren so we don’t want to be doing. That God’s house is not a a place of uh you know a business where oh I got to get the best guy the best talent he is the best talent he’s got the best look you know it’s it’s about integrity truth and not always.

▶ 13:56 About business principles 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face turn from their wicked ways I will hear I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land so we are reminded this famous scripture I’ve I’ve heard this several times in my life as a teenager I mean many many times right but the solution is is true this is God’s this is God’s word and but you want to look here at where the responsibility is or where the the power is and it’s what if what my people so again the power is in God’s people us people that are called by your name are are we called by his name are you called by his name yes and so God’s looking to God his people it’s important that we humble ourselves pursue him and turn from our wicked ways he will hear forgive and heal their land and God.

▶ 15:05 Is you know he’s responding. Amen and in America this is very uh very important you know if you are living in a uh land where there’s a king or you’re living in a land where there’s a communist government where you really don’t have a say or you’re in king or the the guy is king you don’t really have a say or maybe he’s a good king he’s a bad king who knows right we still have all kinds of governments in the world today but in America you we have a lot of say with our vote and it’s very important that we take uh as God’s people unite for truth if my people amen.

▶ 15:59 Very important uh be good if all of us Christians could unite over issues in our government and in our country because it’s not just government uh government has started getting into the family they have started in inserting themselves into what right and wrong. Is in in morals and that shouldn’t be that’s God’s job that’s the church’s job and we’ve got to rise up and and say hey no that’s that’s the church we’re responsible for that God is responsible for that not you right I I’m I don’t know if I said that right just scratch.

▶ 16:41 That I’ll I’ll note that down for later it just came let me stay on track let me stay on track Acts 14: 211 Paul and barnab Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and with prayer and fasting committed the to the Lord titus5 they appointed elders uh the 12 gathered all the disciples and said brothers and sisters choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the spirit and wisdom this proposal bless the please the whole group and 2 Timothy 2: 2 the things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others what I’m trying to point out here is first of all that the uh the apostles and the ones who set up the church they had to appoint people to be in charge right they had to make decisions and put people in charge and they couldn’t just be anyone in 2 Timothy 3:1 it tells us what an elder is it’s not just somebody who’s older no they are requirements amen you can’t just be anyone you’ve got to be somebody who’s have a good reputation who’s not giving themselves over to wine you there’s some.

▶ 18:06 Qualifications and so you know when we look at ministers today and we see them mouthing off against God’s word and God’s truth you know that’s not. Scriptural just because you’ve been hired on and hired to be the person in charge doesn’t mean you should according to God’s standard amen secondly I want to point out in Acts 6:1 so good here the 12 the 12 great apostles right gathered all the what disciples all God’s people so going back to the power of God’s people again they gathered all of the disciples together see that’s how important God’s people are the apostles didn’t just go around making decisions for everybody like we’re in charge get out of my way they gathered all the disciples and not just believers or or people that don’t you know it’s disciples the ones that were.

▶ 19:07 Committed. Amen disciples ones who had the fruit in their life they gathered those disciples together and they said to them brothers and what. Sisters is that women. Yeah can women be disciples yeah do women have a say. Yeah you get what I’m trying to say this is what the scriptures are. Saying amen so before America gave women the right to vote who gave them the right to vote. Yeah the Scriptures choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the spirit and of ism choose seven men who are known to be idiots choose seven men who are known to do whatever they want say whatever they want choose seven men who can dress nice and preach nonsense is that what it says no it says full of what the spirit and what wisdom they have the results of the spirit of God in their life they have the results of wisdom making wise.

▶ 20:24 Choices and this proposal pleased the whole. Group entrusted to reliable people qualified to teach. Others so there’s qualifications that’s all I’m trying to point out here amen there’s a a great decision process that God has for his people it’s not just willy-nilly. And so when we have ministers standing up and promoting sinful lifestyles. Promoting uh to break. Laws that are. Important you know if somebody says you must take marijuana and do drugs that’s not a law I’m going to obey right but if we’re talking about normal laws like not stealing.

▶ 21:19 Not uh hurting people you know we need to follow those laws right so you can’t get up as a preacher and tell people break. Laws and also understand this whole situation so the apostles come into a a an area people start gathering because they want to respond they want to become a church they want to seek after God and the apostles are trying to find people that they can leave in charge not so that they can be famous or cool or awesome but because they just want to carry on this gathering this assembly of the church of God. Amen and so the apostles are just dealing with regular Christians and saying there’s a good Christian he’s going to be in charge nothing.

▶ 22:21 Special our leaders are just Christians church leaders are just Christians that need need to follow God for themselves and the point is where wherever you are at wherever you’re at in God’s house you have direct access to God nobody else is more special than you and we got to understand that perspective when we uh look at a minister or a priest and think that they have something that we don’t it’s not true there is nothing keeping. You from Christ there is nothing keeping you from his spirit there is nothing keeping you from coming to God. Yourself so. Important I mean maybe your sin separates you but that you got to come before the throne of grace you you know what I’m saying right you understand what I.

▶ 23:20 Mean and if you don’t I have to got to clarify it in the next. Message Daniel chapter 6 we’re going to be looking at. Daniel this morning and the story of the lion’s den not sure if you guys have heard this story but I want to point out some things here that are very important in this story that you just realize oh yeah oh my gosh there it is so Darius just became king after he overthrew neb or bazar the previous Babylonian king this is Darius he’s a king of Persia and they came in and wiped out the babylonians. And he set up over his kingdom 120 sat traps this is a a a mid governor to be over the whole kingdom and over these 120 sat traps he put in three governors all right so we see the tier right uh Darius is number one there’s three governors and there’s 120 people under them 120ed by 3.

▶ 24:24 Is is it 40 40 right right so each governor is over 40. Probably and one of those governors is who Daniel and so he’s over maybe 40 people over 40 sat. Traps and the reason why he did this is so what the king would suffer what no loss or meaning he doesn’t want to lose uh or be defrauded or cheated out of what his kingdom is supposed to send up. Amen uh this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and sat trs because what was found in him an excellent. Spirit and I’m going to go off on a limb here and just throw out some possibilities of what could be happening right it’s not in the Bible but I’m just going to share so he’s a governor and let’s say the taxes or whatever they called it tribute I don’t know is coming up to Daniel and it goes to the king now let’s say Daniel it just takes uh his portion or what his amount is as agreed by the king and let’s say 100 talents come to him he takes you know he says he says to the king okay here’s 100 talents of gold and silver the other two governors are quoting out.

▶ 25:55 50 they’re like here’s 50 and the king’s like well where’s my other why does Daniel have a hundred what’s so great about his area. Right it’s very possible that the other guys were lining in their pockets and stealing from the king and suffering and he was suffering what. Loss and that’s why he’s looking at Daniel and he’s saying oh man this guy’s excellent he’s honest he’s got integrity he’s a good man. And so first of all we want to point out Daniel was in government is it wrong for God’s people I got somebody at the door here is it wrong for God’s people to be involved in government no not at all Daniel was almost number two in command of the whole land of Persia the Persian empire it is okay for God ‘s people to get in God involved in government is it okay for uh Christians to be active in our government of course and we should be and not only should we vote but we should also seek to fill you can also seek to fill a role in government and uh it’s very good in this example that we see in Daniel.

▶ 27:20 Amen also it says the King Darius was thinking to set him over the whole realm so he would be number two not number uh one of three and so because of this in Daniel chapter 6:4 the administrators and satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs but they were unable to do so and so Daniel lived right and so should we amen he’s a good example but also if you look at the New Testament Jesus Christ in Matthew chapter. 26 God uses historical examples he uses actual history and events to foretell and predict his coming he’s done it many times in the story of Daniel the story of Joseph the story of Esther and on and on David and goliath all of these things their stories are point in to Jesus coming on.

▶ 28:33 Earth all right very important to see that when you’re reading the Old Testament is Jesus in the Old Testament he is all over the Old Testament he those stories are are are hidden gems pointing to him and not just that but more than that the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death but they did not find any though many false witnesses came. Forward and so we see the the relationship that uh or the relationship the the similarities that Daniel and Jesus. Had and says so these governors and sat traps they uh did obey asence they come before the king and what we call a kiss up or brown noser they come in and they’re kissing up to the the king and the king you know he’s used to this and he’s like I love kiss ups I love it when my subjects obey me and uh.

▶ 29:48 They came up with a law that nobody was allowed to petition any God or man except the king and so therefore King Darius signed the written decree and he made it a law so he made this bad law enacted this bad law that these men were trying to get Daniel with Daniel chapter 6:10 Daniel after hearing about this law he got down on his knees and he prayed three times giving thanks to his God just as he had done before so he didn’t change anything that he did before he kept doing what he did before he kept praying and seeking God no matter what law came out and again going remember our story about Saul how he brought about out a bad law and our nation can be making bad laws it doesn’t mean we obey them we’ve got to obey.

▶ 30:48 God Daniel 6:16 the king gave the order and they brought Daniel threw him into the lion’s den and the king said to Daniel may your God whom you serve continually rescue you so the king was very upset when this happened he let these guys deceive him because he liked the obeisance he liked the kiss up and he sign oh I can just see that you love me so much I will sign. Away and uh but he felt very very bad because he really liked Daniel and he tried to deliver Daniel but it was there was something about the law the means and person he couldn’t change it he couldn’t change the law even though he was king he couldn’t change.

▶ 31:41 It and so he pray and he he says to Daniel may your God whom you serve continually rescue you well thanks a lot in psal oh sorry oh I gave it away. Now this is a scripture it says many bulls have compassed me strong bulls of bashon have beset me round about they gaped at me with their mouths as a ravening and a what roaring lion dogs have en have compassed me the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me they pierced my hands and my feet save me from the lion’s mouth does anybody know where this is and who it’s talking.

▶ 32:32 About it’s talking about who said that Jesus I thought it was them down here that’s talking about Jesus of course it says they pierced my hands and feet and where is this found this is found in the Psalms David wrote these Psalms and David is writing about being pierced and he’s talking about this Jesus Christ being crucified and that these lions are around him these people are there gaping their mouths yeah they’re yapping it up oh if he if he was really God he would come down from there right these are the things they said they mocked him they spit on him they they mistreated. Christ and so we see the the parallel we see that this is an example Daniel is an example of Jesus.

▶ 33:36 Christ and again Daniel was used his story see God brought all these things in Daniel’s life he brought all these things in Joseph’s life he brought all these things in David’s life in Esther’s life to forell of his coming uh back in the the day they used to call this Old Testament light Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and so this is an illustration of that Daniel chapter 6:22 me my God sent his angel shut the mouth of the lions they have not hurt me because I was found innocent in his sight in Jonah chapter 2:1 the Lord spoke to the fish and it vomited Jonah on to dry land Revelations 1:18 I am the living one I was dead and now look I am alive forever and ever I hold the keys of death and hades when Jesus died on the cross he was found.

▶ 34:48 Innocent and hell could not contain him death could not contain him they couldn’t handle him in Peter it talks about how he went down and he was preaching to people in. Hell and everybody in hell’s like get this guy out of here can you. Imagine acts chapter 2 ver 24 but God raised him from the dead freeing him from the agony of death because it was what. Impossible for death to keep its hold on him Jesus Christ. Amen Daniel he was found innocent and those lions could not touch.

▶ 35:47 Him Jesus Christ of course it says in him was no sin amen he is our spotless lamb the sacrifice for the sins of the world it’s impossible it was impossible for death to keep its hold on. Him verse 24 Daniel chapter six the king gave the command and they brought those men who had accused Daniel they cast him into the den of lions them their children their wives oh my gosh horrible and the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom. Wow so the men who had accused. Daniel Daniel’s. Enemies they cast them into the dental lions their children and their wives Matthew chapter 23 Jesus is talking to the Pharisees and he says you guys make people two times the children of hell than yourselves.

▶ 36:52 Matthew 25:41 the eternal fire prepared for the death Devil and his angels John 8:44 you belong to your father the Devil and you want to carry out your father’s desires he was a murderer from the beginning not holding to the truth there’s no truth in him when he lies he speaks his native language for he is a liar and the father of lies and so this part in Daniel it sounds horrible right it’s a horrible. Thing and it will be a horrible thing when those who are children of darkness are cast into hell it’s the same thing and it’s talking about wives those who commit themselves to serving the kingdom of darkness the Devil and his angels you see that in the scriptures there I don’t want to be tied to I don’t want to be connected with the kingdom of darkness do you no thank you amen I don’t want to be a child of hell do you want to be a child of no.

▶ 38:00 I don’t want to be cast into the lion’s den or the lake of fire do you no but you see here that that story is is speaking of these. Things we don’t want to be. Children of Satan. Also he was a murderer from the beginning not holding to the truth there is no truth in him he is a liar see when we do what our father does we are like that person children they act like their parents right and so when we get used to and start doing these things Satan is a what liar if we want to act like Christ what do we say we say what. Truth if we want to act like Satan what do we say lies right right simple.

▶ 39:03 Amen it’s important it’s important that we address our behavior our character and remember if you sin you have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous just because you messed up in dad’s house doesn’t mean he’s going to kick you out he’s a good dad he loves you and he’s trying to get you to grow up that’s all okay he’s a good. Father King Darius wrote to all peoples nations and languages that dwell in all the earth I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble in fear before the God of Daniel for he is the living God and his dominion shall endure to the end he has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions and so this Daniel pro. Sorry so King Darius first wrote a bad law.

▶ 39:59 And later he writes a whole new law giving God the glory and telling his people in his empire to serve and to uh tremble and fear before the God of Daniel who is God in heaven amen because he saw the results and he says at the end he has what delivered Daniel from the power of the lions and so Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of cyrus the Persian. So we see here in this example and in this story that God cares about.

▶ 41:07 Government and God cares about government’s. Laws Daniel worked in government and made himself available to be used by God and he made himself available because he was not willing to obey the foolish law to reject his God he kept doing the right thing he kept praying and he was thrown to the lions for. It no I would say that Satan does not rule the American government. But. People in America may be wicked that are in government and we need to do our part to change that. The only qualification to be in government is that you are 35 years old and that’s it it doesn’t they don’t require you to be good or to do have a good reputation you just have to be somebody of a certain age and that is the problem we have it’s wicked people get in charge.

▶ 42:21 Amen amen. Haggai going back to the book at the beginning the verse that we mentioned at the beginning in the next chapter it says thus says the Lord of hosts once more and it is a little while I will shake heaven and earth the sea and dry land I will shake all the nations and they shall come to the desire of all nations and I believe that Daniel experienced that in his time what happened with the lion’s den shook the whole empire because it brought about a new law that gave glory to.

▶ 43:06 God and we want to have that shaking in our country again and we want that shaking in our life if you remember the story that we brought up about jonathan and his armor bearer when they fought against that garrison of just uh 20 or so uh combat batens it shook and made the whole camp tremble and the camp started to fight amongst themselves and God even the people said that God has brought about a great thing because of what jonathan has done amen and so we want that kind of shaking in a global scale in a country scale in a state scale in a individual life.

▶ 43:59 Scale and so let it start with you let it start as an individual let it start in your home let God shake your life Christ wants to overcome the kingdom of darkness in your life and he can he can it’s no problem for. Him he wants to turn the kingdom of darkness your enemy upside. Down and make you. Strong make you. Advanced I will shake all the nations and they shall come to the desire of all nations there’s another scripture in Micah it talks about how uh people will come to the mountain of the Lord to to the God’s temple to be taught there’s a great thing and a great promise that God still has for the world world today I will fill this temple with.

▶ 45:03 Glory are we the temple of the living God yes do we not God God’s glory in us yes we do the silver is mine the gold is mine says the Lord of hosts uh in. Haggai before this scripture he’s talking about how the temple was being rebuilt and it wasn’t as great as Solomon’s temple if you remember Solomon’s temple it was glorious it it was so beautiful the gold and everybody who came saw they know they were dropped falling out of their chairs because it was so magnificent but then they rebuilt it in this time and some people were like I remember it when it was much more. Beautiful and now it’s just like. This but it’s not the gold.

▶ 45:57 Or the silver that makes God’s temple wonderful it is God’s what. Glory the glory of God you can have your building I don’t care go make a building make it beautiful I don’t want to be there if God is not there. Amen the silver is mine the gold is mine Christ has the eternal riches that we are looking for Christ has the the real. Riches we don’t need a building with gold and silver and and magnificence you are that building you are that temple and Christ wants and has these riches these eternal uh silver and gold for his people and he wants to make you.

▶ 46:52 Glorious the glory of this latter temple yeah yeah us me and you is going to be greater than the former and in this place I will give peace says the Lord and just as a reminder second Corinthians. 3:18 we all with unveiled. Face are being transformed into his image with ever increasing. What say it with me. Glory which comes from the Lord who is the spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19 do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit whom you have received from God you are not your own you were bought at a price therefore.
