Authentic Progressive Christians - April 28, 2024: full transcript and answers
Gray boxes are our own short answers and summaries.
Real progress in Christ’s kingdom is the reverse of the world’s: the last are first and the great serve. The authentic progressive Christian lets the world decrease and Christ increase, flees immorality and drunkenness, refuses dishonest trade with the cross, and lets God break him like a war horse for endurance. Those who wait on the Lord are renewed, as Peter and Cornelius found.
How does the service begin?
Short answer: Praying that God’s word would do the whole surgery, not just the anesthetic.
▶ 0:13 This morning God we invite you this morning to come and be here this morning we pray that you be with the word Lord as it says in the scriptures you work with the word God we ask that your word become alive it says in the scriptures that your word is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword God we need your word to do what it does to do the operation in our lives God we don’t want just. The the anesthetic we want the whole part God we want the surgery that needs to happen in every spiritual man today God we need you we need that surgery done in us Lord we pray please come your word transform us amen amen welcome again you have some guests it’s good to have you guys with us this morning uh we want to talk about authentic progressive.
Scripture in this part
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
— Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 0:13What is an authentic progressive Christian?
Short answer: In Christ’s kingdom progress is the reverse: the first shall be last, and the great become servants; corporate rules don’t apply.
▶ 1:07 Christians and progressive. Progressivism is characterized by belief in progress improvement and advancement and the problem is that our ideas to progress improve and advance are not always the right uh. Ideas in Christ’s kingdom. It is the reverse Jesus said the first shall be what last the last shall be first if you want to become great in the kingdom become a servant and so when it comes to God’s kingdom it doesn’t always work the way we think it works you can’t take corporate rules and business rules and say oh whatever works in corporations and business the same way it works in God’s kingdom it’s not how it.
▶ 2:03 Works Jesus says I came to serve and give my life as a ransom he didn’t say that the the the apostle said it if you want to become great in the kingdom become a servant just as Christ came to serve and give his life a ransom for many that’s what Christ gave us and so to to progress as a Christian is to become more and more like him that’s what the word Christian means it means like. Christ and so when I say real progressive Christians we want to progress from where we are at today to being closer to Christ and closer to God as the scriptures say in Genesis we are made in his image and we want to reflect that image.
Scripture in this part
Matthew 20:16 (NKJV)
So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”
— Matthew 20:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 1:07Matthew 20:26-28 (NKJV)
Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
— Matthew 20:26-28 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 2:03What does progress look like?
Short answer: Not conformed to the world but transformed by renewing the mind; keep unspotted from the world so the world decreases and Christ increases.
▶ 3:02 Romans 12:12 do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and acceptable and the perfect will of God James 1:27 pure religion is to keep oneself unspotted from the world the other part of that is to uh visit the widows and the orphans but I I’m going to the end because that’s what I’m talking about right now that’s included and so in here Romans is speaking of a transformation that we need to experience and it starts with not conforming to the world and so it’s important as a Christian that we begin to separate ourselves from the world as the apostles and Christ teach us if we spend our time sticking close with the world’s influences the world’s culture the world’s speech and behaviors you know that you are not yet that you are conforming to the world if your culture your speech and your behavior influences are like the world you’re conforming and Paul here in Romans is telling us not to.
▶ 4:19 Conform so you we want our relationship with the world to decrease and our relationship with Christ to increase the relationship we have with Christ and his church to progressively increase and that’s what I’m talking about uh when you come to Christ that is step one and from now on we want to be make progress to becoming like him to having a closer relationship with. Him Proverbs 13:20 he who walks with wife men will be wise but the companion of fools will be destroyed uh I’m sure you guys have experien many people experienced this some friends can get you into trouble I’ve heard it many times many stories many young people I’ve talked to you know I was in the wrong place at the wrong time somebody stole something and then I was there and the cops came and they said it was I had to go to jail because I was there you know all kinds of stories and who knows who’s telling the truth I don’t know you you never know what the real story is but it’s important who you put yourself around are you putting yourself around wise people are you putting yourself around wise counsel what are you listening to what are you putting into your mind or are you a companion with a fool.
Scripture in this part
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
— Romans 12:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:02James 1:27 (NKJV)
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
— James 1:27 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:02What happens when we backslide?
Short answer: Your own wickedness will correct you, like dominoes coming back around; the fear of Me is not in you.
▶ 5:49 Jeremiah 2:19 your own wickedness will correct you your back slidings will rebuke you I thought this picture was funny because the dominoes are coming back around he’s knocking them over but it’s going to come around and get him that’s that’s what Jeremiah 2:19 is talking about you know if you go out and you steal somebody’s going to try and stop you from stealing if you go out and you commit you know uh foolish acts and behaviors there’s going to be a consequence and that’s what Romans 2 is talking about do not conform get away from that um we don’t want to increase we want to decrease in that and your backslidings will rebuke you know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken the Lord your God that fear of me is not in you I have heard it said that God will never leave you nor forsake you and that’s true that’s in the Bible but people will say oh he’ll never leave me no matter what I do no matter how I treat him no matter how I behave but here in Jeremiah he says you have forsaken.
▶ 7:00 The Lord he’s still on earth he still loves you he’s still looking down but you’re running away from. Him the fear of me is not in you have no respect for his house you don’t have no respect for his name one of the commandments one of the ten commandments is to not take the lord’s name in vain some of us will take it on his name we say oh yes I’m a Christian Christian but we are not like him at all we take on his name in vain it’s not true it’s not. Authentic and so we’ve got to recognize what the scriptures are saying and respond do I fear God am I forsaking him am I trying to keep myself far from.
Scripture in this part
Jeremiah 2:19 (NKJV)
Your own wickedness will correct you, And your backslidings will rebuke you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing That you have forsaken the LORD your God, And the fear of Me is not in you,” Says the Lord GOD of hosts.
— Jeremiah 2:19 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 5:49What should we flee?
Short answer: Sexual immorality, because your body is not your own, and drunkenness that bites like a serpent.
▶ 7:55 Him why should you my son be enraptured by an immoral woman woman by be embraced in the arms of seductress Proverbs 5:20 1 Corinthians 6:18 flee from sexual immorality whoever sins sexually sins against their own body you’re not your own you’re bought with the price therefore honor God with your bodies it’s very simple in the New Testament Paul writes and says that marriage between a husband and wife is honorable and the marriage bed undefiled and so God or with the scriptures we we see the clarity and the simplicity that sex is in the marriage and it’s undefiled it’s pure but when you go outside of that you’re doing something that will take you to hell you’re violating God’s word you’re completely. Disrespecting the way he set up the world and so it begs the question do you believe that he created us do you believe that he created everything do you respect do you fear God.
Scripture in this part
Proverbs 5:20 (NKJV)
For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?
— Proverbs 5:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:551 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV)
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
— 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:55Proverbs 23:29-32 (NKJV)
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper.
— Proverbs 23:29-32 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 9:03What has he seen in youth ministry?
Short answer: Kids whose parents are on drugs or died; a boy so excited his dad came to church; he was blessed with a mom and dad.
▶ 9:04 Who has woe sorrow contentions complaints wounds without cause those who linger long long and look long on the on on uh wine and alcohol and strong drink do not look on the wine when it is red at the last it bites like a serpent stings like a viper I’ve been a young u I’ve been involved with young people for many years and I the kids come in to the youth group and I talk to them and hear their story about how their family their parents. Are either doing drugs or have died things have happened because all because of uh whether it’s marijuana whether it’s alcohol heroin all these things it causes such destruction.
What is dishonest trade?
Short answer: Desecrating sanctuaries: asking Jesus to bleed and cover my sin while telling Him not to tell me what to do.
▶ 10:01 And I I talk to the kids and and it brings harm I remember one young man he wanted his dad to come to church so bad he wanted his dad to come to church so bad and his dad came and he was just so excited he was like oh my gosh this this everything’s going to change now and I knew you know the man still had to make a choice whether he not whether or not he was going to keep serving God but this guy this young boy hope was so. Great because he knew the destruction that drugs were having on his father and it’s really it’s a hard thing that we’re bringing on our children it’s a hard thing that we’re bringing on families and it’s a hard thing to see and to watch these young people come in and they don’t have a father they don’t have parents I grew up and I had a mom and dad I’m I’m very blessed and a lot of young people don’t have that opportunity and it hurts it hurts we don’t understand how much it hurts Ezekiel 28:18 by your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
▶ 11:12 Like I was saying earlier we take on the name of the Lord in vain same here Ezekiel chapter 28 our sins and our dishonest trade he died for our sin he gave his life for our sin to to cleanse us and in exchange uh he asks us to repent and to get out of the kingdom of darkness start walking toward the kingdom of light right and that takes time as we’ve learned about when Israel came out of Egypt it took time and uh they came to the red sea but they had to keep walking and they had to keep following and that’s what you’re going to have to do in your walk with Christ you can’t give up you got to keep following Christ to the red sea until your enemy is destroyed like the army of Egypt was.
▶ 12:08 Destroyed so dishonest trade is saying I’m going to do what I want to do and I don’t care about what you did for me but I want you to for go get up on that cross come on bleed cover my sin all right thank you now get out of here don’t tell me what to do that’s dishonest trait dishonest Acts 17:30 these times of ignorance God overlooked but now commands all men everywhere to repent and so this go all goes back to being an authentic progressive Christian we want to keep moving forward and that means we’re turning away from ground zero ground zero is sin and the past and uh the kingdom of darkness that’s ground zero step one after ground zero 0 1 2 3 we repent right and we start walking toward God that’s what we need to.
Scripture in this part
Ezekiel 28:18 (NKJV)
“You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.
— Ezekiel 28:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:01Why does God liken us to a horse?
Short answer: The war horse mocks at fear and devours the distance; God breaks us like a horse to make us strong and enduring.
▶ 13:04 Do Job 39:19 God likens us to a horse can you believe that have I given the horse strength have you clothed his neck with thunder can you frighten him like a locust his majestic snorting strikes terror he paws in the valleys and rejoices in his strength he gallops into the clash of arms he he mocks at fear he’s not frightened nor does he turn back from the sword he devours the distance with fierceness and rage nor does he come to a hal because the trumpet has.
▶ 13:40 Sounded and if you want a you you see here there’s a difference between the horse on the top and the horse on the bottom right the horse on the top is wild he’s going out there kicking you try to put a saddle on him and he’s running we used to have horses here and just getting them to let us ride them sometimes was a challenge and if you don’t know when you get a horse that has never been ridden there’s a process called breaking the horse right it’s where you get them used to the saddle you get them used to a bridle in their mouth and you get them used to putting weight you understand this process right and uh God is doing the same thing what he wants to bring us from a young a wonderful little horse to a strong capable able uh fierce horse amen he wants to take you from being acting like a child to acting like a warrior.
▶ 14:41 And that’s what’s happening here with this horse he mocks at fear are you. Afraid do you fear the kingdom of darkness you don’t have. To do you turn back do you give up you don’t have to you can have. Strength he devours the distance man he this horse I mean can you imagine he’s just he is snorting he’s running I’ve been on those horses but they’re just. Like they they want to run they want to go uh many times we would take young people out and uh when you go out on the trail everything’s fine but as soon as you start turn around to go back the horse know it and they all want to get back and they all like they they get ansy and you’re sitting on like what is wrong with you they they’re all jumping and like I’m going home I’m going.
▶ 15:43 Home they want to get home but we can be people that go the distance and endure have endurance that’s what God wants us to become he wants us to have some strength he wants us to be a force remember the scriptures say we are a chosen generation a royal priesthood a holy nation a special people we are a special people that’s you this. Morning and so God is through this illustration he’s showing us if you want a normal horse if you want a horse that can be strong you have to go through some. Discipline horses can be wild they can be lazy they can be skittish afraid. They can be stubborn I’ve met many stubborn horses one of the horses you sit on them and you would not move you get a stick and hit him and he would not move like come.
▶ 16:43 On uh we can be stubborn how many of us can be stubborn amen we can learn bad habits horses need food they need uh to be ridden they need to learn to listen and and they need renewal constantly you got to ride them so that they get in them and uh learn to cooperate and we want as Christians to become useful for God amen you don’t want to just be a wild and crazy lazy Christian at some point you want to grow and grow become progress in your relationship with God to where you are some God can sit on you and you are ready to rock amen. Amen blessed is the man Psalms 1 verse1 this is a very important.
Scripture in this part
Job 39:19-25 (NKJV)
“Have you given the horse strength? Have you clothed his neck with thunder? Can you frighten him like a locust? His majestic snorting strikes terror. He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength; He gallops into the clash of arms. He mocks at fear, and is not frightened; Nor does he turn back from the sword. The quiver rattles against him, The glittering spear and javelin. He devours the distance with fierceness and rage; Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded. At the blast of the trumpet he says, ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle from afar, The thunder of captains and shouting.
— Job 39:19-25 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 13:04Who are you walking with?
Short answer: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly; put God into you through His word and house.
▶ 17:39 Scripture blessed is man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path of sinners or sits in the seat of the scornful sometimes you got to ask yourself who are you walking. With to walk means uh you’re traveling what are you traveling to go do where where are you you know back in the day they they would walk everywhere we drive everywhere right we fly places or we just get on our phones and we let the fingers do the walking right where are you walking where are you going are you going with God’s people or you going to go do your own thing nor stands in the path of sin sits in the seat of the scornful but his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law he meditates day and night he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth its fruit in its season whose leaf shall not wither don’t you want to be like every time I read Psalms 11: I want this in my life I want to be a Christian who bears the fruits of the spirit of God and that’s where God wants to bring us he wants to bring us from a little sprout in the ground even under the ground that seed is germina he wants us to become a full-grown tree that bears fruit in its season but it takes progress it takes sticking with God it takes his word it takes his presence.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 1:1-2 (NKJV)
BOOK ONE Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
— Psalm 1:1-2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 17:39What did Christ come to do?
Short answer: Preach good news, heal the brokenhearted and set captives free, but He can’t if you keep Him at a distance.
▶ 19:12 And you’re not going to get that by not putting God in your mind with his word you’re not going to get that by sitting home every week and not going to uh his house we’ve got to put God into us. Luke 4:18 the spirit of the Lord is upon me he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor believe it or not God’s words hearing God’s words it’s an opportunity for him to come and touch you it’s an opportunity for God to come with his word and transform you and it’s very important that we have a ear that hears his word he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captives recover your sight to the blind to set liberty those who are oppressed you see this scripture here is saying that Jesus Christ his role is to set you free it’s to set us free it’s to heal our broken hearts it’s to get us out of prison it’s to recover our sight if we’re blind maybe we can be blind and not see.
▶ 20:35 Truth that’s Christ’s role and if you keep Christ at such a distance in your life he can’t do these. Things if you’re not in church if you’re not hearing his word if you’re not taking time for him if you’re not. Responding if you are opposing him not willing to hear if you’re pushing him away nothing’s going to. Happen but if you invite him you receive him and allow him he can do these things in you and later on in this service at the end you’re going to have an opportunity to do that it’s your choice it’s your choice we’re all adults here amen I can’t force anybody to do anything okay it’s up to to you it’s your opportunity.
Scripture in this part
Luke 4:18 (NKJV)
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
— Luke 4:18 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:12Can God restore a ruined life?
Short answer: He gives beauty for ashes and the garment of praise; from ground zero He can build you back up.
▶ 21:35 Isaiah 61:3 to counsel those to console those who mourn in Zion that’s the church to give them beauty for ashes the oil of joy for mourning the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that they may be called trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord that he may be glorified God’s restoration is so powerful that if you have destroyed your life if you’re at ground zero like the building there’s a there’s a the the world trade center towers I went and visited them in new york only only time I’ve ever been in new york and I went to that spot ground zero and it’s a memorial now and it’s a big square hole where it used to. Be but that that tower is destroyed it’s.
▶ 22:33 Gone and no matter what has happened in your life maybe you were a tower and you’re down to ground zero wherever you’re at wherever you’re starting God’s restoration is so powerful that he can build you back up and transform you like it said at the beginning he can build you be more beautiful than before. Psalms.
Scripture in this part
Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)
To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
— Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 21:35What comes out of Zion?
Short answer: The perfection of beauty, the church; He will arise with healing in His wings, including healing of minds.
▶ 23:11 50:2 out of Zion this is the church the perfection of beauty God will shine forth our God will come and not keep silent and we want to understand first of all that out of Zion God will come come and shine forth out of the church we’ve got to make his house a priority wherever you’re going wherever church you’re going to you need to make that a top priority in your schedule to be in God’s house to be with his people God is doing something in his church do you understand the scripture it says out of what Zion the church God will shine forth don’t you want to be where he’s shining yeah I do I want to be where he’s shining our God will come he’s coming out of where out of the church and shall not keep silent and who is he not keeping silent he’s he’s going to be speaking through us so it’s important to be involved in God’s house Malachi 42 but you who fear my name the son of righteousness shall arise do we fear God as we said before do we have respect for his word.
▶ 24:29 If you do Christ God will arise in you and it says I’m going to arise with healing in my wings God can bring the healing that we need and our minds need healing a lot of us are looking for physical healing but God wants to heal you in your mind he wants to heal you in your spirit because your spirit and your mind is going to be with him forever. Isaiah. 40:31 those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint and these scripture scriptures that I’m sharing with you they’re giving us a a a goal a steps to get to our go goal steps to get to maturity we want to wait on the Lord we got to keep ourselves we don’t to conform to the world.
Scripture in this part
Psalm 50:2-3 (NKJV)
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.
— Psalm 50:2-3 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 23:11Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)
But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
— Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 24:29What do those who wait receive?
Short answer: They mount up with wings like eagles and inherit the earth.
▶ 25:39 Amen they shall mount up with wings like eagles they shall run not be we how many of you want to mount up on wings like eagles I do how many of you want to run not be weary we’re not talking about physically we’re talking about in your life in your spiritual life. Walk and not. Faint Psalms chapter 37 wait on the Lord and keep his way and he shall exalt you to inherit the land when the wicked are cut off you shall see it I’m just showing through more scriptures here that waiting on God is important it’s important for us to take time to be be with him to hear what he has to say no matter what age you are in God no matter how old uh no matter when you became a Christian taking time to hear his voice what he has to say to you taking time with him is very important wait on the Lord and keep his way keep means to preserve keep means to you are uh holding on to it you keep it you follow it.
Scripture in this part
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
— Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 25:39Psalm 37:9 (NKJV)
For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth.
— Psalm 37:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:57What did Peter and Cornelius learn by waiting?
Short answer: Both prayed; Peter learned the Spirit was also for Gentiles. Who are we excluding?
▶ 26:58 You you respond to. It evildoers shall be cut off but those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth I want to inherit the earth and I I trust you do too if we want that we’ve got to wait on him in Acts 10:30 there was a man who was a Gentile and a Gentile just means that he was not a jew and it says his name was Cornelius and he was a centurion he was a man in charge and he was fasting and praying and an angel an angel you know I’ve never seen an angel you know you don’t see angels flying around everywhere right an angel came and said your prayer has been heard call for Peter we are all called for Peter and Peter was in another place he was in another town and he sent men to the specific house the angel said he’s over here in jaa with simon the tanner whatever and he sent the people over and Peter is also.
▶ 28:14 Praying and he has a vision and he uh God says rise Peter kill and eat I’m not going to get on all that and explain what it all means but both of these men Cornelius and Peter were praying waiting on God fasting and God revealed something very powerful to these. People and because this man. Cornelius even though he wasn’t a Jew because he waited on God an angel came to him as you know Peter was waiting on God because he was waiting God he had a vision and a word from God and they met together here in acts. 11 as I began to speak Peter said the Holy Spirit fell on them as upon us at the beginning and I remembered the word of the Lord how he said John baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the spirit if therefore God gave them the same gift he gave us when we believ who was I that I could withstand God.
▶ 29:30 We want to understand at this time Jews like Peter thought that the Holy Spirit they thought that water baptism and getting saved was just for the Jews this is just for us Jesus is just for me and they were excluding the Gentiles when Peter came to Cornelius’s house he said I am not supposed to be here I am breaking our customs and our traditions but I’m here because God said to be. Here and at that time the Jews were excluding the Gentiles they weren’t even thinking to include them in their outreach and maybe there’s people that we are excluding the message from from reaching out.
▶ 30:24 To but because these men waited on God God came with his word and his truth and Cornelius who was a Gentile and the people with him both received the Holy Spirit and because Peter saw that they received the spirit just like he received the spirit he recognized that they were the same as them they weren’t uh Peter recognized and said okay I get it I’m nobody special I’m no better than these. People and that’s. Because. Cornelius and Peter both saw God prayed and invited God and we need to do the same.
Scripture in this part
Acts 10:30 (NKJV)
So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
— Acts 10:30 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 26:58Acts 10:44-47 (NKJV)
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
— Acts 10:44-47 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 30:24How does the service respond?
Short answer: Create in me a clean heart; renew a steadfast spirit, then prayer for one another and an invitation to salvation.
▶ 31:39 In Psalms 51:10 says create in me a pure heart oh God and renew a steadfast spirit within me do not cast me away from your presence or take your Holy Spirit for me restore to me the joy of your salvation. Short answer: Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord; the sacrifice of praise, and the walls of Jericho falling when they shouted.
▶ 46:37 To the house of the Lord. And it’s really simple but it’s really good blessed is everyone that fears the Lord that walks in his ways for you shall eat the labor of your hands happy shall you be and it shall shall be well with you your wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of your house your children like olive plants round about your table behold that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the Lord the Lord shall bless you out of Zion and you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life yes you shall see your children’s children and peace upon Israel and and when you read this there’s a condition it says blessed blessed is an exclamation oh how happy is one who fears the Lord and walks in his ways and keeps his commandments so this is condition and this is the result of operating that.
▶ 47:47 Condition you shall eat the labor of your hands it won’t be eaten up by other people it won’t be wasted away by other things you will be able to to eat the labor of your own hands and it shall be well with you if you fear the Lord and walk in his ways. And you will be blessed the church and when you walk in his ways and fear the Lord the church itself will be blessed and you shall see the good of the church all the days of your life and you shall see peace upon your descendants too hallelujah praise the Lord amen amen let’s stand as it says here we want that blessing out of Zion out of the church so let’s begin with worship this morning let’s stand and worship.

About this transcript
This transcript comes from YouTube’s automatic English captions, which supply the timing and the words. Punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing were added from the speaker’s pauses and then corrected by hand, and obvious caption errors (names, Bible references) were fixed; his wording was not rewritten. “[unclear]” marks a word or name that was not clear. Editor notes: He cites “Romans 12:12” for “do not be conformed” (12:2); left as said and linked to 12:2. The recording places the message first and a worship set after it (~46:37).
