A Christmas message on the star the wise men followed. It stood over a house, no one else saw it, and Scripture uses stars for angels and Christ Himself, so it was a star that is not a star. The wise men traveled about two years, worshiped the child and gave gifts; we can give Him the gift of our time.

Why preach on the star now?

▶ Watch this part (0:00)

Short answer: The speaker says he doesn’t remember preaching on Christ’s birth in December in all his years, but this is the message God gave him.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 0:00 I don’t ever remember talking about the birth of Christ during December and all the years I’ve preached but this year this is the message that God gave me. So we’re going to be talking with today about after Jesus was born and we’ll be using Matthew chapter 2 and Luke chapter 2. We all know this famous story. There were wise men the Bible says magi I. Won’t get into that one. That came to Jerusalem and they went in to see king Herod.

What did the wise men tell Herod?

▶ Watch this part (0:53)

Short answer: We have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him; where is He who is born King of the Jews?

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 0:53 And when they came to see king Herod he they told Herod we have seen past tense. In didn’t they teach you that in school that’s past tense all right we have seen his star his star his stars say his stars yeah not a star not the star but his star in the east. So they came from the eastern part of the globe over to Jerusalem. And they came in to see Herod and it doesn’t say they saw that star while they were traveling it says we have seen the song it didn’t say the star letters here okay.

▶ 1:58 Got it now. They ask Herod. Where is the king of the Jews. That’s the question they asked Herod so obviously his star spoke to them that there was a king being born and the king was gone being born in the kingdom of Israel the Jewish kingdom. And. Herod of course was the king and he didn’t like the idea of another king being born so. He called in the priests because he didn’t know anything about a king being born and he asked the priest and the priest the Jewish priests said the scriptures say that out of Bethlehem the ruler of thy people shall come so.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 3:00 Herod. Asked them. How long did it had been to see the star and from their answer we get. From Herod’s action of killing all the kids that they traveled close to two years all right. Now. They asked Herod where is the king of the Jews and then they said this statement we have come to worship him the king of the Jews we have come to worship the king so that star told them not only was a king being born but they are to go and worship him.

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 2:7 (NKJV)

Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.

— Matthew 2:7 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:00
Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 2:16 (NKJV)

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

— Matthew 2:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:00

How did they react when the star reappeared?

▶ Watch this part (3:55)

Short answer: They rejoiced with exceedingly great joy; the star went before them and stood over the house.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 3:55 And then they left Herod and when they come out from talking with Herod they rejoiced and you notice there was a lot of rejoicing a lot of praise a lot of glorifying God during Jesus his birth and after he was born and they rejoiced because the star his star reappeared. There it is again see it had gone they saw it in the east in they got to Jerusalem they asking Herod where the king was and then they left and the star reappeared and Herod the Bible says sent them to Bethlehem. Because that’s where the priests said the child would be born all right now.

▶ 4:55 So. The star that reappeared stood over a house in Bethlehem now it doesn’t say in Bethlehem it could have been anywhere from leaving Herod to Bethlehem but we know they went the direction of Bethlehem so we’re going to assume they reach Bethlehem but when you get the Bethlehem or any person any distance in between there’s about six miles from Jerusalem to Bethlehem that’s about from here to the 15 freeway. Okay not very far. Now you got all these houses along the way so how do you know which one Christ is in.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Matthew 2:9-10 (NKJV)

When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

— Matthew 2:9-10 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 3:55

Was it a real star?

▶ Watch this part (5:51)

Short answer: A real star is thousands of miles wide and couldn’t stand over a house, and no one else, not even Herod, saw it.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 5:51 Because his star stood over the house now a real star the smallest star that I could find is over two thousand miles wide all right that’s not going to stand over a house a star emits light and not only light it emits heat if a real star stood over this house you guys in school over there it would burn the house up if it was a real star if it was a real star it would be so big it would cover all the houses on all the region it around it. The next thing you got to understand is no one else saw the star.

▶ 6:45 If it was a real star why didn’t everybody see it. No one saw the star even Herod if Herod would have saw the star he would have sent his soldiers down there to kill the king that was born so. We know this was not a real star and we know that these wise men didn’t have to be astronomers at all because this is a way human brains think well these guys were astronomers and they were navigating now they weren’t navigating they were told this star that they described this visitation of God that they described as a star. Gave him a message and they knew where to go and they traveled and when they got there the star reappeared all right so only the wise men saw the star no one else did now.

Was the star prophesied?

▶ Watch this part (7:52)

Short answer: A Star shall come out of Jacob, a Scepter shall rise out of Israel.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 7:52 I mean even though the Bible says that every prophecy must be fulfilled in the Bible all right let’s see if we can find this in the Old Testament that fair all right. Let’s go to Numbers 24:17. Balaam who was a false prophet. Prophesied for money with a diviner a soothsayer. And he finally was killed because of his false prophesying. Balaam God used this this false prophet God use and Balaam said I see him so who’s him. Not now I see him not near a star I see a star him a person shall come out of Jacob a scepter a ruling king acceptors of is a rod that kings used to rule with show that authority shall rise out of Israel so this star is a person that is a king Balaam by God prophesied that a king would be born and come out of Israel.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Numbers 24:17 (NKJV)

“I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.

— Numbers 24:17 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 7:52

How could only some see it?

▶ Watch this part (9:20)

Short answer: Like Paul’s companions who saw the light but didn’t hear the voice; spiritual things are spiritually discerned.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 9:20 All right now. We know in the Bible that Jesus spoke to Paul from a bright light in that right. Now those with him saw the light but they didn’t hear the voice see you can only see in here as God open to your ears and your eyes. And when I’m on the internet talking to a lot of people they are trying to understand the Bible with human thinking and you can. The apostles themselves did not have their understanding open until the three-and-a-half years and they hear Jesus preaching every day for three and a half years and they didn’t understand until he opened their understanding. Is that an amen say.

▶ 10:16 See these spiritual things are only discerned by the spirit we got to get our human mind involved but our spiritual mind is the one that’s got to get involved all right so. The star stood over the house so they knew exactly what house it was because this this manifestation of God that they described as a star stood over the house all right. Jesus is the bright and morning star the Bible says in the Old Testament and in the new in their right amen yes Jesus is what the bright and morning star now is he talking about a real star no. He’s talking about God is light you see and Jesus.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Acts 22:9 (NKJV)

“And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me.

— Acts 22:9 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 9:20
Scripture (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

— 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 10:16

What are stars in Scripture?

▶ Watch this part (11:15)

Short answer: Jesus is the bright Morning Star, and the seven stars in Revelation 1 are angels.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 11:15 Comes to us like the morning star the brightest star in the heavens now we also know that. The seven stars in the book of Revelations chapter one are the angels of the seven churches so it’s obvious that what they described as a star was either an angel or Jesus Christ himself his star. Amen now how many would like Jesus to come and many yes them to show himself to you absolutely and he can do it many ways. Remember God showed himself when he Israel come out of Egypt as a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night any spoke from that cloud and pillar of fire and the Bible also says the angel was in that cloud.

Scripture in this part

Scripture (NKJV)

Revelation 22:16 (NKJV)

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

— Revelation 22:16 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:15
Scripture (NKJV)

Revelation 1:20 (NKJV)

The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

— Revelation 1:20 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 11:15

How has God manifested Himself?

▶ Watch this part (12:17)

Short answer: A fiery cloud on Sinai, a whirlwind to Job, even a talking donkey; if God uses you, don’t get boastful.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 12:17 Right. When Moses went up to mount Sinai he went into the presence of God and the manifestation was a fiery cloud wasn’t it you see also he spoke to Job when a whirlwind he came up with a whirlwind can you imagine you’re sitting there with all these sores and everything and his word and then out of this whirlwind comes God talking. You see. He talked to Moses out of the burning bush he talked to Balaam. Through his donkey Balaam is riding his donkey and his donkeys eyes are open to see the angels that’s wanting to kill Balaam and the donkey gets out of the way of the angel and Balaam got mad and hit the donkey and then the donkey still was trying to get all the way of the angel and Balaam started saying you dumb donkey you how many of you kids out there have a dog.

▶ 13:30 All right how many of you have ever spanked your dog. How many have you ever told your dog stopped barking. Yes oh dad does it huh. Well how many of you would be very shocked if that dog said why are you spanking me. Why are you yelling at me. Now Balaam started talking to his donkey. But me I would be running to mom and dad the dogs talking. And then mom and dad would come out there and hear the dog talking they say put him in the car we’re going to hollywood.

▶ 14:25 We got a talking dog. You know if God can use a donkey folks don’t get excited if he uses you and anything. Don’t get all boastful and I thinking you’re something but God uses a lot of things and especially angels all the way from Genesis to Revelations angels are showing up in dreams or in actual appearance and speaking a message unto people and even today over in the middle east and in china and some of these other nations you get a lot of reports of angels coming or Jesus Christ himself and manifested himself to people and saying I’m the one you’re looking for not mohammed not you know buddha and so forth I’m the one you’re looking for and a lot of people think that that is not Bible but it’s very Bible.

▶ 15:39 God is the supreme being and if we can’t get the Job done like we should he’s gonna go personally and draw people to himself amen we need to be careful how we judge things like that so I submit to you today that the star they saw was prophesied in the Old Testament his star out of Israel out of the Jewish nation a king was fulfilled here in these wise men and the Bible never says there were three there could have been two there could have been ten that could have been 20 we don’t know and they come from the east that’s probably the Persian empire at that time was actually in in landmass bigger than the roman empire and the Persian empire was divided into a lot of little small kingdoms that the big king put over these regions and called him king okay.

▶ 16:42 So we don’t know how many of these kings and we don’t know if they were together when the star appeared to them they could have been in separate areas and told to come and worship the king amen. Hallelujah that is the story now. Stars don’t talk real stars do they no they don’t real donkeys don’t talk either do that yeah it takes God talking through people and a real star can’t stand over a house. Gravity and everything else is working against it everything in the natural is working against it isn’t that right you know so.

Did the wise men come to the manger?

▶ Watch this part (17:40)

Short answer: No. They came after Jesus’ circumcision and presentation, to a house, where they bowed and worshiped the child.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 17:40 We know that these wise men came after Christ was born and we know that on the eighth day they took Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem to be circumcised we also know on the 40th day they were in the temple so mary could be cleansed according to the Old Testament ceremonial shadow laws of birthing a child so we know for. Forty eight days or forty days that they were around Jerusalem. And we know the wise men came. After Christ was born it could have been during this 40-day period they traveled close to two years but mary and Joseph could have easily been in Jerusalem when they came are you that.

▶ 18:52 Hallelujah. So these guys traveled for two years now how many of you guys would like to ride on a camel for two years okay. How many brother ride a horse for two years yeah okay me I’ll take my motorcycle. Thanks that would either either I’m camel toulouse didn’t you ever rode on the camel you know it knocks very far more. Disneyland if you ride a horse. So this was a tough journey. Now.

▶ 19:51 They come to the house and they did what they were told they bowed down they got on their knees and they worshiped this child he’s not a baby anymore he’s a child Jesus. All right and they gave him gifts how many of you got gifts for Christmas oh man yes gifts I love gifts. Pardon oh you’re wearing okay. Gifts. — Matthew 2:11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 19:51

What gifts did they bring?

▶ Watch this part (20:53)

Short answer: Gold, frankincense and myrrh; when you love something you spend time with it.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 20:53 [unclear] how about myrrh I mean you got birth you got myrrh you guys even know what frankincense and myrrh is I didn’t things up none of you have it. And I don’t think any of you have gold you got some of your daddy’s money but you don’t have any gold now. What can we give Jesus Christ. He don’t need gold anyway he owns everything say he don’t need frankincense and he don’t need myrrh what can we give Jesus how about our time can we give him our time didn’t you take time today to come to church isn’t that giving Christ your time how many of you know love is spelled t ime.

▶ 21:56 When you love something you spend time with it if you love your dog you spend time with your dog. Alright if you love videogames you spend time with videogames. But this is something we can give Jesus we can give him our time remember Martha and mary Martha was busy busy busy busy busy busy doing this doing that yeah and we get busy and she wasn’t doing bad things she was doing good thing but she wasn’t doing the priority thing. Mary was doing the priority thing and his feet worshiping him and learning. Directly from dear are you their adult.

— Matthew 2:11 (NKJV)▶ Hear it at 20:53

What gift can we give God?

▶ Watch this part (22:49)

Short answer: Time: don’t get so wrapped up in home or job that you don’t give God the gift of time. Let Jesus be Lord of your life.

From the sermonTranscript of this part · Unidentified speaker (not clearly Pastor Kincer)

▶ 22:49 This is a good reminder for you we can get so wrapped up in our home women can and men can get wrapped up in their Job and not take time and give a gift of time to Jesus Christ. Amen adults and we can give all the excuses we want Martha was the complainer I’m doing all this work I’m dumping you and everything and she’s just sitting there worshipping you. But Jesus said she chose it’s a priority thing to spend time with God all right what else can we give Christ our life. Our life holy and acceptable unto him roman says.

▶ 23:49 We can live for Christ and let him be the Lord of our life how many out there has let Jesus be the Lord of your life you ask Jesus yes how many of you are willing to give Christ time the rest of your life to take time to serve and they yes that’s what the wise men teach us these dignitaries. Wealthy men stopped what they were doing and traveled for somewhere around two years later side every priority they had to come and find the king worship the king and give him gifts and that’s. What the wise men are teaching us if you are wise you will take time for God you won’t let any distance you won’t let any hindrances any hurdles stop you from coming to Christ worshipping him and then he will come and talk to you and your faith will grow your love will grow and your life in Christ will grow amen.
